  1. t first glance Realm of Ink looks like a flagrant Hades clone. Look closer, squint, and yes, it still looks like a flagrant Hades clone. But after a half-dozen hours spent with this China-developed roguelite, some of its more bonkers qualities shone through, such as the flexibility of its **** system, and the fact that depending on the build you stumble into, it can turn into something more akin to Vampire Survivors... 4. You’ve probably had this moment: you’re deep into a match, perfectly lined up for the headshot, when suddenly your character rubber-bands across the map and you’re ready to push your mouse through your monitor. We tend to blame “the internet” when these things happen. Here’s the reality: sometimes the real culprit isn’t your plan, it’s your in-home setup. With internet providers starting to offer nbn’s accelerated speeds, delivering up to five times faster wholesale download speeds on eligible HFC and FTTP plans, now’s the perfect time to ask a simple question: is your Wi-Fi holding you back? Here are five signs it might be time to optimise your setup and save your gear from lag-induced rage. Your Wi-Fi Router Lives in Witness Protection Why are you so ashamed of your router? If your Wi-Fi router is shoved in a cupboard, hidden behind the TV, or gathering dust under your desk, you’re sabotaging your own connection. Wi-Fi works best with a clear line of sight, and every obstacle between your device and the router is another wall your signal has to punch through. The fix is simple: Wi-Fi routers belong out in the open in an uncluttered area, ideally in a central spot where the signal can spread evenly. Elevating it onto a shelf or table at waist height makes a noticeable difference, while tucking it near interference-heavy electronics like microwaves, cordless phones, or even a giant fish tank is a recipe for signal chaos. That Wi-Fi Router Is Older Than Your Steam Account Routers aren’t immortal. If yours has been around longer than, say, you’ve been waiting for Half-Life 3, it may not be keeping up with your current internet demands. A good rule of thumb: if it’s more than five years old, you may want to consider whether it’s still suitable for your needs. Older routers typically don’t support newer Wi-Fi standards, which can handle higher speeds. They might suffer under the pressure of multiple devices, deliver slower speeds and offer patchy coverage. Modern Wi-Fi routers offer the latest Wi-Fi standards and are better suited to supporting more demanding internet use across dozens of devices. Pair that with the accelerated speeds nbn made available on its FTTP and HFC networks in September 2025, and a very old router - is like plugging a 4K-capable console into a CRT TV. It still works, but you might not be getting the full experience. Your Dead Zones Are Actually ****** Holes We all have that one room where Wi-Fi mysteriously disappears. Maybe it’s the back bedroom where your streams constantly buffer, or the upstairs study where your games love to disconnect mid-match. These dead zones aren’t just annoying, they’re proof that your coverage isn’t cutting it. Larger or multi-storey homes, or homes built with thick brick, concrete and even certain types of glass, make it harder for a single Wi-Fi router to cover every corner. If you’re constantly moving around to find “the good room” to play in, that’s a sign your setup might need some help. That’s where mesh Wi-Fi systems come in. By creating multiple access points around your house, mesh setups help eliminate weak spots and give you stable speeds everywhere. Every Device in the House Is Competing for Bandwidth You’re gaming online while someone else is streaming 4K Netflix, another person is on a work video call, and your console is quietly downloading a 50GB update in the background. Sound familiar? That can be a classic case of too many devices competing for the same slice of bandwidth. Older Wi-Fi routers in particular may struggle with this kind of load, which is why your ping spikes the second someone hits “play” on a movie. Upgrading to a modern router designed for multiple connections and making sure it’s placed correctly gives every device a fair chance. You’ve Never Actually Checked Your Setup Look, honestly most of us don’t think about our Wi-Fi router until something goes pear-shaped. We upgrade our consoles, swap out our GPUs and chase higher frame rates, but rarely ask if our Wi-Fi setup is keeping pace. If you’ve never stopped to check where your Wi-Fi router is, how old it is, or whether your home needs a mesh system, you might already be limiting what your connection can do. In other words, don’t wait until the next time you’re rage-quitting over lag. A few quick checks now can save you endless frustration later. Do you struggle to maintain a stable connection when playing online games? Here are some simple ways you can improve your Wi-Fi today. Time to Level Up nbn’s accelerated speeds upgrade isn’t just a technical milestone for eligible premises, it’s an opportunity for gamers to finally leave lag and sluggish downloads behind. However, the upgrade doesn’t solve problems caused by poor placement, ageing hardware, or patchy coverage inside your home. By recognising the signs – a hidden Wi-Fi router, an outdated router model, weak spots or dead zones around the house, overloaded connections, or a setup you’ve never even thought about – you can take simple steps to optimise your Wi-Fi and unlock the performance you’ve been missing. No gamer should lose a round to their own internet connection. When was the last time you looked into the speeds you could be getting? Check your address to see what’s available to you. 5. A television universe of video games and characters that millennials grew up with is forming, and I'm not mad at it. With several critically acclaimed gaming adaptations already in out and even more in the works at several networks, Netflix is now tapping PlayStation legend ****** Bandicoot for an animated series, according to a report by What's On Netflix. Screenshot by Destructoid Not only that, but a top animation studio is the one behind it: WildBrain Studios, who recently worked on all three seasons of the recent Sonic the Hedgehog Netflix series, Sonic Prime, and may be primed to tackle another iconic 1990s gaming icon. Netflix has released adaptation successes such as Arcane, Castlevania, Cyberpunk: Edge Runners, and The Witcher, and has several others in the works like a BioShock movie and Assassin's Creed series, so it's clear that video game stories being brought to a new medium will be the new normal for a while. And I'm totally cool with it. This may not have been the case years ago, because it took decades and several terrible projects for networks to start producing some solid video game adaptations, in both TV and movies. But things are trending in a proper direction, spearheaded by series like HBO's The Last of Us, which has been honored with nine Emmy Awards to go with 40 nominations in just two seasons. Prime Video's Fallout, with its season two coming in December, is also worth a shout for its one win and 16 nods. ****** Bandicoot and the whacky world around him began on the PS1 way back in 1996, and it’s rife with potential as an animated series, too, so we may be in for some more peak when it's ready in a few years, if this report ends up being accurate. 6. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's official Twitter account today tweeted a Halo screenshot featuring a call to action to “[finish] this fight” and "destroy the flood" by joining ICE. Anyone familiar with Halo's lore should be able to quickly identify this as the most blood-curdling recruitment bait ever. [Hidden Content] The Flood serves as the most dangerous antagonist throughout most of the Halo series, an invasive alien species capable of taking over any other biological organism in a matter of seconds and causing their societies to collapse in not much longer than that. Likening this species to ICE's target, ******** immigrants, through a screenshot from a game that many possible ICE recruits grew up playing, can be considered beyond foul by many who oppose the current administration. Military organizations have used the popularity of video games to lure young people into enlisting, but comparing migrants to the worst threat of the Halo universe feels like someone in an office was tasked with getting across just the most racist message possible. The White House also dressed up Trump as Master Chief for Halloween, which is as scary as you'd imagine And this isn't even the only instance of Halo being used for strange Halloween-time messaging, as just a few hours prior, the White House reacted to a GameStop tweet that declared "the end of the console wars," and accompanied that with an AI-generated (but of course) image of Donald Trump wearing the Master Chief outfit. [Hidden Content] I expected more from GameStop, a company that should know how the "console wars" began long before the PS2 and the original Xbox's clash. Still, the worst part is the White House's official account, which thought it a good idea to spearhead a recruitment campaign via the face of an infamous draft dodger. The third party responsible for a lot of disappointment is Microsoft itself, which likely has enough muscle to DMCA these posts out of existence, or to at least convince the White House to remove them. But we've yet to see a reaction from the company, if it is to have one. In any case, this is likely to lose the upcoming neat-looking Halo remake a lot of favor among many of its fans. 7. The biggest news surrounding Halo: Campaign Evolved is how different the remake will be from the original Combat Evolved, especially with regard to the game's story. 20. Pizza is a classic gaming snack, and Call of Duty is a classic game, so why not combine the two? ****** Ops 7 and Little Caesars had the same exact idea. And as part of this year's collaboration, gamers can unlock special skins and prizes in CoD with their orders at the delicious Detroit-based pizza chain. It's a win-win situation. Here's what we know so far about the ****** Ops 7 Little Caesars collaboration. ****** Ops 7 Little Caesars codes Image via Little Caesars The BO7 collab with Little Caesars works the same way as it did last year for ****** Ops 6. From Nov. 3 through the end of 2025, any order of $3 or more through the Little Caesars app or in-person will reward a code for "Dual Double XP, plus a shot to win exclusive in‑game rewards like operator skins, calling cards, emblems, and battle passes." Like last year, each code redeemed will reward double XP tokens along with the random chance at even more items, like the anticipated pizza-themed operator skin, and even battle pass codes for those who have the most luck. If you order in person, the code will be found on your receipt along with a QR code. If you order online through the Little Caesars website or app, the code will be emailed to you. You can then sign up and input the code on [Hidden Content] to get your rewards. The fine print on the website says that you can earn up to 40 hours total of double XP, there are 19,653 prizes available throughout the event's duration, and they range in retail value from $4.99 all the way up to $99.99. The promotion is only available in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Image via Little Caesars For now, hold off on ordering your Little Caesars until Nov. 3 and afterward if you're looking to stock up on items like the skin above, double XP codes, or other Little Caesars-themed cosmetic items, but make sure to grab them before 2026 rolls around and the promotion comes to an end. 21. There is an optimal starting building order in Super Fantasy Kingdom, despite the game being a roguelike. You need to complete certain requirements to properly set up your kingdom and ensure a good influx of resources. This guide applies to the best building order for the Human Kingdom, which is the first of the two playable Kingdoms in the game. The Undead Kingdom, which you unlock after defeating the second boss, has its own game flow and building logic Early game building order If you're just starting in Super Fantasy Kingdom, the ideal order in which you should create buildings is: TavernLumberyardQuarryFisherhutSawmillGoldmineHunterSmelter After you have a Smelter, start upgrading your units with Ingots and defining a strategy with other buildings for your run. From this point, the best building depends on the units and strategy you want to pursue. For instance, you can get a Farm to recruit the Monk and make Beer later, or you can opt for the Elemental Tower to sacrifice units. An advanced building order with Ports. Screenshot by Destructoid. Upgrade your castle and build extra Houses whenever you have the resources to do so, since they will give you extra Workers to gather more resources. When the cost to build a new house reaches 32 Wood, it's best to get more Workers by upgrading Houses for four Gold. Always place buildings close to their respective resource. Lumberyard next to Trees, Quarry next to Rock, Goldmine next to Ore, and so on. Advanced building order As you play Super Fantasy Kingdom and expand your territory with Glory, unlock new Outposts, Witch bonuses, and additional starting resources, you can improve this building order slightly. With the Witch's Aid, start your game with at least three Stones and three Gold. Then, use Outposts to get another two Gold. With this setup, you will have three Stone and five Gold total, enough to repair your Castle twice. This will let you carry enough Wood to build three houses before you even build the Goldmine, which will significantly speed up your early game. You can also replace the Hunter with the Port once you build the road from your Kingdom towards the shore. Fishing will be a great resource to level up your Units quickly. You can build it before the Goldmine to make the most out of it as early as possible. The post Best building order for Super Fantasy Kingdom appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article
