The trailer featured the titular character facing off against four massive, towering monsters a la Shadow of the Colossus, along with confirmation of the Aug. 20 release date. But the real treasure was the reveal of several special editions at the end. View the full article

  3. Unbroken Studios and Warner Bros’ Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will launch on 3rd September 2024, as announced at this year’s Summer Game Fest with a new trailer. It’s still a game about the Potterverse’s broomstick-riding sport, allowing players to play against the computer and each other across various single player and multiplayer modes, and it’s still a new instalment in the world of an author, JK Rowling, who has a record for endorsing transphobia. 4. Image: 2K Games It’s been a long wait, but the next Civilization has finally been revealed. At the main Summer Game Fest keynote, publisher 2K officially announced Civilization 7, the first new entry in the strategy series since 2016. We didn’t get any real details or actual gameplay, but instead a very brief teaser trailer that looked a lot like, well, Civilization. But there’s one thing we do know: the game won’t be launching until 2025. More details will be coming in August, according to 2K. There were some inklings this was coming. Ahead of the show, the publisher teased that “the next iteration in one of 2K’s biggest and most beloved franchises” would be revealed, and earlier today, Civilization VII actually appeared briefly on the company’s... 6. Lego Horizon Adventures has just been announced at the Summer Game Fest 2024. It's coming out later this year on PlayStation, but also launching on the same day on PC and Nintnedo Switch. You can watch the trailer for the game below, in which Alloy and a friend take on all manner of giant ****** as you'd expect. This comes via Studio Gobo and marks a new entry in the series that's clearly more family friendly and lighthearted. It's also aimed to be played as a two-player game, with couch and online co-op included. Read more View the full article
  7. Today, during the big Summer Game Fest kickoff event, 2K Games dropped a new announcement. This was, indeed, a new game in one of its biggest franchises. Hopefully, you weren't counting on it being Borderlands, because it's a new Civilization game instead. That's right, Civilization 7 was just revealed as the next entry in the long-running 4X strategy franchise. This isn't entirely new information, of course, as the game leaked earlier in the day (thanks to a massive banner all over 2K's own website, no less). Read more View the full article
  8. Image: Sony Interactive Entertainment One of the cuter reveals at Summer Game Fest was the Lego-ified version of Horizon’s postapocalyptic future. The game is called Lego Horizon Adventures, and it looks like a playful action-adventure game set (obviously) in the Horizon universe. Naturally, there’s lots of building as well. And co-op play. And some very goofy jokes fitting Lego’s many video game spinoffs. This isn’t the first collaboration between the two, as Lego released a Horizon Forbidden West set in 2022, But it appears that Sony is intent on growing the franchise into one of its tentpoles. The original game was followed by a sequel on the PS5 (and PS4), and it’s also being adapted into a show on Netflix. Lego Horizon Adventures is launching this holiday. As a Sony... 17. Given the emphasis on charactization in Baldur's Gate 3, it stands to reason that players would want to make thier Tav stand out from the crowd with some incredibly glamorous armor. The vanilla version of the sprawling RPG is already stuffed with options to help stylize the party but those looking for an outfit that's both fashionable and functional often feel the need to turn to the community and request some assistance. Fortunately, those wanting to stay undamaged without sacrificing on their wardrobe are in luck because these new shields are jaw-droppingly cool. View the full article
  18. The Zotac Zone has caught most other Windows-based gaming handhelds napping, as it's arrived with arguably the most compelling package out of all the chief Steam Deck OLED rivals. Top among its credits is its AMOLED screen, but it has plenty of other qualities too. It's now just the OLED screen that keeps the Steam Deck OLED at the top of our best handheld gaming PC guide, of course, but it is absolutely one of the key reasons why it's so beloved. Whether Zotac's rival can truly compete is something that we'll only know with a longer time with the device, but our first play on it has set our hopes high. Read the rest of the story... 22. Enlarge / A slide-up screen is just one of the novel features for Adata's Steam Deck clone. (credit: RetroHandhelds) [/url] For PC gamers used to the modular design of a desktop rig, there are ***** and ***** to the all-in-one, pre-fab design of the Steam Deck (and its many subsequent imitators in the growing handheld gaming PC market). On the one hand, you don't have to worry about pricing out individual parts and making sure they all work together. On the other hand, the only way to upgrade one of these devices is to essentially throw out the old unit and replace the entire thing, console-style. Korean computer storage-maker Adata is looking to straddle these two extremes. Lilliputing reports on Adata's XPG Nia prototype, which was shown off at the Computex trade show. The unit is the first gaming handheld so far to embrace the CAMM (Compression Attached Memory Module) standard that allows for easily replaceable and upgradeable memory modules, as well as a number of other mod-friendly features. CAMM on down Samsung shared this rendering of a CAMM ahead of the publishing of the CAMM2 standard in September. (credit: Samsung) If you've read our previous coverage of the emerging CAMM standard, you know how excited we are about the ultra-thin modules that can simply be screwed into place on a laptop or portable motherboard. That offers a viable replacement for the now-standard soldered LPDDR RAM, which saves space but is incredibly difficult to repair or replace.
