  1. One of the highlights of any RPG is its leveling and skills system, especially if a title lets the player create their own, custom character. Different games take different approaches to this, with the more traditional titles taking inspiration from the TTRPGs of old by using classes. Others attempt more modern approaches, using skill point allocation or even usage improvement systems to allow people to play exactly what they want. View the full article

  4. While fiddling with the facial customization settings in the game, one Elden Ring fan accidentally made their player character bear a striking resemblance to Tom Cruise. With how advanced character creators have become in modern RPGs as of late, it's no wonder that players have been able to recreate the likenesses of popular celebrities in video games like Elden Ring, even when not intending to do so. 5. Stardew Valley is a cozy farming and life sim game that offers much more than just fishing and romancing villagers. When the main character is not working on their farm, they need a relaxing home to get away to and share with their growing family. Decorating this farmhouse can become a daunting task for some players, however, especially later in the game when there are numerous rooms to fill and not much direction given on what should be placed in them. Thankfully, many creative players have shared their designs online for others to draw inspiration from. View the full article
  6. Team Falcons snatched the ESL One Birmingham trophy from upper-bracket team BetBoom in dominant fashion. Despite playing four games in the bracket stage compared to BetBoom’s one, the Falcons crushed their opponents in a 3–0 sweep—a victory coach Aui_2000 has since suggested came from widespread underperformance. Falcons was the newest organization to compete at ESL One Birmingham. The roster only entered the Dota 2 scene last November but did so with a bang, signing several experienced players at the top of their game alongside 19-year-old Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak. Bursting with potential but having fewer opportunities to prove their worth, the Falcons have now sent a clear message to their opponents: They’re here to stay. View the full article

  10. Subnautica seems like the perfect candidate for multiplayer. For one thing, it's a survival game with a special focus on crafting, base upgrading, and resource gathering. Those types of games typically play well with friends, mostly because it's possible to divide labor efficiently. Sending one player after Subnautica's ***** Sulfur while the other stays back at base crafting consumables can greatly speed along the process. Plus, it can be delightful to share in the joy - and occasional horror - of discovering Subnautica's vast, unexplored depths. View the full article

  13. That’s too cold! | Image: Amazon I don’t know about you, but when I have a ****** case of the hot phone, I have to get rid of that heat this instant. Just kidding, I usually just put it down for a while or restart it when it’s being especially stubborn. But there are companies out there marketing a different solution: little stick-on phone-cooling fans that purport to draw all that heat away. And their product images are a little, uh, excessively icy. How did it come to this? What kicked off this arms race of increasingly frosty phones? I have to assume things started innocently enough, but these RGB-riddled things are pretty squarely aimed at gamers — I’d guess it didn’t take long for these product shots to snowball into the wildly unrealistic pictures on Amazon today. ... 15. Though he has only recently joined the ****** in Overwatch 2, Mauga is a hero that fans had been aware of for years prior to his appearance as a playable character, and some of his early concepts still have the potential to appear in the game as skins for the Samoan tank hero. Though Mauga still hasn't got all that many cosmetics available to him in Overwatch 2 due to his relatively recent addition to the game, many fans feel this is all the more reason Blizzard should consider giving him some new outfits based on the character's popular early concepts. 19. Gamers all over the world will likely recognize the cake from Minecraft, and while they're certainly not the first to do it, one fan of the game has brought the game's cake to life by baking it in the real world. Minecraft's cake is just one example of the dozens upon dozens of food options available to survival mode players, though it stands out as a food item that can be placed as a block in the world - making it just as useful a decorative item to spruce up a home as it is a method of keeping the hunger bar full. Starfield is no different, but to really appreciate this new find, one must be familiar with some classic hardware. View the full article
