  3. In case you missed it, Capcom casually revealed that the original ***** Rising's getting a remake yesterday. It's called ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster, and your first chance to see anything about it beyond the inital teaser trailer will be at the summer Capcom Next showcase the publisher's just announced. While it's not the only game set to show up, it's fair to say the remaster will be the main event of this nice little broadcast, likely offering a chance for you to go 'eugh, Frank definitely looks weird now' or 'you know, I don't mind how Frank looks now' numerous times before it concludes. You'll be able to catch the summer 2024 edition of Capcom Next on July 1 at 3PM PT, which is 11PM BST and 6PM ET. All ya gotta do is rock up and press play on the video above when that time hits and you'll be drowned in the video game. Read more View the full article
  4. 11 Bit Studios has delayed Frostpunk 2 from July 25, 2024 to September 20, 2024. Frostpunk 2 is a promising city-survival sequel set 30 years after an apocalyptic blizzard ravaged Earth, transforming our world into a harsh, icy wasteland. IGN recently played the first three hours of Frostpunk 2's story mode and found it to be “brutal, cruel, and very fun.” The developer said feedback from the recent beta as well as prioritizing certain features it’s already working on sparked the decision. “We know that this is not the news you wanted to hear,” 11 Bit Studios said. “However, we believe that these additional features are something you deserve to see in-game from day one, not in a patch added after the release.” In an additional message posted to Steam, game directors Jakub Stokalski and Łukasz Juszczyk said the average rating players gave the beta was 8/10. As a result, it intends to “bring to the front” certain features and modifications the developer believes players will “enjoy the most.” Highlights include new additions to the game mechanics, “extensive” UI and UX enhancement and, “by popular demand”, a new city feature called Zoom Stories, which are basically zoom-ins available in specific city parts that allow you to watch the day-to-day life of your citizens. Early feedback on these additions have been very positive, Stokalski and Juszczyk said. “That’s why we hope these few weeks of additional waiting time that we need to implement all the new features will be met with your understanding and won’t test your patience too much,” they added. “From now until the release, we will share with you behind-the-scenes updates so you can see how these additions are coming to life.” Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN. 5. Development on slip-slidey FPS Tribes 3: Rivals is set to slow, just months after its early access launch, as developers Prophecy Games say it’s not proving successful enough to "support the studio." In a post ominously titled "Tribes 3 Player Update", Prophecy first announced that anyone who’d paid up microtransaction money in Rivals – as well as their previous game, extraction shooter Starsiege: Deadzone – would receive an equal amount of credit to spend in their upcoming "sports shooter" Ultra Strikers. Then, the bitter chaser: both Deadzone and Tribes 3 will go on the backburner, while Ultra Strikers becomes the studio’s main effort. Read more View the full article

  9. Batman: Caped Crusader is coming to Prime Video on August 1, and its first full trailer promises more than just cheap animated nostalgia. The series, which comes from executive producers J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Bruce Timm, was envisioned as a spiritual successor of sorts to Timm and Paul Dini's beloved Batman: The Animated Series (1992-95). After being in development for a long time and being scrapped by HBO Max (despite it being a WB Animation production), Prime Video picked it up, and we're finally close to its single-drop, ten-episode release. The new animated series, which seemingly has no ties to previous Batman projects besides its distinctive art style, comes from Warner Bros. Animation, Abrams' Bad ****** Productions, and 6th & Idaho. Eyebrows were raised from the get-go due to Abrams and Reeves involvement, and Timm's inclusion instantly made it one of the most anticipated animated DC projects in a while. 19. After a streak of more disappointments than wins plus some heavy restructuring, Marvel Studios is returning to San Diego Comic-****'s Hall H this summer. Deadline shared the news, teasing the House of M wants to go big in late July (SDCC runs from July 25 to 28 this year) to let everyone know 2025 could be its big comeback year. Right now, the company is still reeling from Secret Invasion's crushingly terrible reviews and The Marvels' historically low box office performance. That said, 2023 also brought in some remarkable wins in the shape of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Loki's second (and final) season. Not everything is lost, but everyone seems to agree that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been bleeding for a while now, and it might just be a matter of Marvel Studios spreading itself too thin over far too many movies and TV shows. 20. Competitor regristration for Evo - the world's biggest fighting game tournament - has concluded. With its closure, the tournament's organisers have revealed that it's surpassed 10,000 unique competitors, making it the largest video game tournament in history. This figure also does not include non-competitor ticket sales, which will remain available until the tournament's start in July. This news was posted on social media and was paired alongside a blog post on the official Evo website. The post elaborates that the tournament has also broken several game-specific records, including Tekken 8, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. Exact figures will be released in the near future. To help accomodate this, the tournament will be held in a larger venue that last year, the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Centre. Over 10,000 entrants is a wild milestone, especially when you consider that it means that roughly 5,000 people will enter a bracket and lose 0-2 in pools - then being left to wander the casinos distraught, broke, and free. Nonetheless these are 10,000 people paying a significant amount of money to support an esports tournament, while other scenes struggle to tempt fans into throwing a few dollars towards a team's jersey . 22. Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC might have just gotten a bit of balancing designed to help make it just a little bit less tough, but prior to that, director Hidetaka Miyazaki had been pretty steadfast in saying that lowering the game's difficulty wouldn't be an ideal move. However, contrary to what you might expect, it sounds like the developer's not taking that stance because he's one of the many uber-skilled folks who've thoroughly mastered battling through tough bosses. If you've missed it, in between pausing to gawk at the likes of someone beating Messmer on a dance pad, the FromSoft community's spent a lot of time debating whether Shadow of the Erdtree's initial difficulty pushed things a little bit too far. With all the arguments you'd expect populating both sides, it's interesting to see Miyazaki revealing that he's very much in the camp of folks generally on the ER struggle bus. In an interview with The Guardian, Miyazaki touched on his own playing habits, revealing: "Leading up to the release of any game, I’ll be very hands-on playing it and getting as much time on it as much as possible, but after the release, I tend to not want to touch it, because I know I’m going to either find things that I left on the table or issues that will bug me." 23. Steam is making it easier for skilled and unskilled Elden Ring players to show off their moments of triumph with a new recording feature that makes it easier than ever to capture gameplay. While there are plenty of programs floating around the internet that allow users to record their playtime and share their footage online, having such a system baked directly into Steam is no doubt the easiest route for many. Many capture programs can be finicky in their **********, resulting in more headaches than they're really worth. View the full article
