Marvel Rivals season 5 is set to go live on November 14, and yes, Gambit and Rogue—Mr. and Mrs. X, as Guangguang, aka creative director Guangyun Chen, describes them—are finally set to take their place in the lineup. But more interesting to me is the addition of a new map based on New York's Times Square, which will be a "non-combat map" where people can just hang out and be cool... Completing quests is a great way to earn various rewards while exploring new places in ARC Raiders, but you often won't get very clear directions on where to go. This is the case with the "Celeste's Journals" quest, in which the eponymous trader asks you to find her writing left behind in Raider outposts on the surface. If you're trying to complete "Celeste's Journals," you may have some déjà vu – Celeste's instructions weren't helpful in the earlier "Straight Record" quest either. View the full article
Games Workshop has sparked shock and anger among Warhammer 40,000 fans after it killed off two main characters from Space Marine 2 via a brief lore update posted on its website. Last week, Games Workshop announced that Titus, the main playable character from last year’s blockbuster hit video game Space Marine 2, had been promoted with a cool new trailer that set up the next narrative expansion for the Warhammer 40,000 setting, dubbed 500 Worlds. Captain Demetrian Titus, Master of the Watch, is now once again Captain of the Ultramarines Second Company, a position he had already held before he was taken into custody on suspicion of heresy by the Inquisition after the events of the first Space Marine game. In the context of Titus’ promotion, fans had expressed concern over the fate of Sevastus Acheran, the former captain of the Second Company and Master of the Watch who dishes out missions (and can never spare enough men) in Space Marine 2. Now we know what actually happened. In a lore update post on Warhammer Community, Games Workshop revealed what Acheran got up to following the events of Space Marine 2. And yes, as fans feared, he’s dead. Confirmation comes from a four paragraph lore explanation in the article itself, which reveals Acheran went out in a blaze of glory fighting a Genestealer Cult on the hive world of Trygg. That’s that. Acheran is dead. But it gets worse. It turns out Lieutenant Chairon, one of Titus’ squadmates from Space Marine 2 and who was conspicuous by his absence from Games Workshop’s Titus reveal, was by Acheran’s side and also died at the hands of the Genestealer Cult. Chairon doesn't even get more than a shout out, despite being the more prominent character in Space Marine 2. Here’s how it went down: Every last Space Marine that landed on Trygg was slowly worn down in a series of increasingly desperate battles. When Imperial reinforcements arrived to purge the last of the cult, they discovered that Acheran, Chairon, and the rest of their brothers had sold their lives to cull untold numbers of xenos hybrids. It’s fair to say Warhammer 40,000 fans are a tad upset not just by the news of the characters’ deaths, but how Games Workshop revealed the news. Many are saying Acheran and Chairon deserved better than to be killed off-screen, and should instead have got their moment in either Space Marine 2 DLC or the confirmed Space Marine 3. At the very least, the characters could have been dealt with in a short story or, better still, a Warhammer 40,000 novel. But no. All they get is a few pars in a Warhammer Community article most fans won’t even read. They did Chairon and Acheran dirty byu/Capt_Levi831 inSpacemarine .reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; } F's in the chat for the GOAT Chairon (and Acheran too I guess) [Hidden Content] — Master of Machines (@MachDominus) November 11, 2025 "They had so much options," said redditor Fit_Fisherman_9840 on the Space Marine subreddit, which is currently up in arms. "Make Chairon the new LT, or since his hate for the traitor make him the company Judiciar. And Acheran? Make it a dreadnought for f*** sake." "What a bummer about Acheran and Chairon," said Thinsul over on the Warhammer 40,000 subreddit. "Killing them both off screen, especially Chairon as a Primaris that was born during the Heresy, is really low. It should have happened in a DLC or maybe a animation." "He died as he lived, unable to spare any more men," Beaker_person said of Acheran's demise on the 40kLore subreddit. "Is there anything more grimdark than to die offscreen?" joked ChaoticMat. And what does this all mean for the other Ultramarines in Space Marine 2? Are they dead, too? In particular, fans are wondering about Chaplain Leandros, who was not mentioned as being among the dead alongside Acheran and Chairon. Perhaps he’s still out there somewhere, casting an inquisitive eye on Titus as he tries desperately to reclaim Ultramar. All of this probably feeds into Space Marine 3 in some way, assuming the sequel picks up after the events of 500 Worlds or takes place during them. We know next to nothing about the game, but we can probably count poor Acheran and Chairon out. Wesley is Director, News at IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. This release includes a variety of bug fixes and quality of life improvements for SteamVR. We continue to focus on OpenXR as our preferred API for new games and applications. SteamVR’s official OpenXR subforum is here and we’d love to hear your feedback, as well as suggestions for new features. SteamVR: Fix a ****** that could occur when the AMD GPU driver was installed but no AMD GPU was present. Fixed compatibility mode bindings showing as custom bindings when they are remapped default bindings. Automatically prefer installing the Oasis Driver for Windows Mixed Reality when running on a Windows version too new to support the Windows driver. Roomview is independently enabled for VR vs non-VR gameplay. Minor UX improvements to improve consistency with Steam (window reflectivity, colors, etc). Added setting (general -> advanced) to disable IPD HUD. Reduced memory usage for user interface textures (improved performance). Fix for the Default / Custom binding toggle in the Settings UI not working properly in some cases. Fix for Recenter and Room View buttons not showing up in some cases. Fix desktop settings showing a completely ****** screen (under error reporting conditions). By default, Controller Compatibility Mode will now show users their physical controller render models (but still return simulated names to games). Added new options to Controller Compatibility Mode render model simulation. Fixed a few cases where controller input would be broken if a game or steam had been moved. Fixed the Input Debugger not displaying some content correctly. Fixed some issues with Pico controllers using Controller Compatibility Mode.SteamVR Home: Fixed ****** when hosting or joining rooms.Linux: Fix rare ****** when attempting to load render models. Fix settings ****** when navigating to “Developer” in SteamVR Settings.Steam Link: Fix excess CPU usage that could occur when the performance graph was never visible during a session. New frame pacing: Improves “popping,” judder, and other smoothness / latency issues for controllers or other animated content. Note this change does affect timing for VR applications on the host PC; please report any new gameplay issues.OpenXR: Support XR_KHR_locate_spaces. Fixed a bug where apps that didn’t submit projection layers would see a 100ms wait on alternating frames with some drivers. When a requested time querying xrLocateSpace is outside of reasonable bounds, return XR_SUCCESS with an empty pose, instead of returning XR_ERROR_TIME_INVALID. Support XR_META_recommended_layer_resolution. Register SteamVR as an available runtime in the Windows Registry when SteamVR is defaulted to the active runtime.Developer: UX architecture improvements to improve consistency with Steam, including library versions and error handling. Improved UX for 'mirrored device debug rendering'. As always, if you are interested, we encourage enrolling into SteamVR Beta by right-clicking on SteamVR in your Steam library, clicking on "Properties" and selecting "Betas" from the list on the left hand side and then clicking "Beta" under Beta Participation. Additionally, if you use Steam Link for Meta Quest, you can opt into the beta here or in-headset by going to your library, clicking the "..." on Steam Link, selecting Settings and clicking the button to the right of "Installed Version Information." Help & Information: The Steam Link for Meta Quest FAQ page is available here. If you encounter issues with this update, please post in the SteamVR Bug Report forum. Escape from Tarkov is finally coming to Steam, and it could be the perfect opportunity for you to dip your toes into a fantastic extraction shooter. The Steam launch also marks the official release of version 1.0, which includes all the work done by the developers over the last eight years. This countdown will help you keep track of the upcoming launch. Table of contentsEscape from Tarkov Steam release countdownWhat to expect of Escape from Tarkov Update 1.0Escape from Tarkov Steam release countdown As announced previously by the developers, update 1.0 will arrive on Nov. 15. It will coincide with the Steam launch, so the date is exactly the same. Update 1.0 will also mark Escape from Tarkov's entry to Steam. As of writing, we don't have an official time of launch. However, I firmly believed that the devs would be going in with the usual update schedule that they have followed in the past. [hurrytimer id="1139959"] The countdown above is based on the following times. 10am PST12pm CST1pm EST5pm GMT3am AEST (Nov. 16) The times are always subject to change ahead of the launch. We will be looking out for any confirmation regarding the timings. Unless there's an official notice, I believe that Update 1.0 and the Steam version will be available at the times that I have mentioned above. What to expect of Escape from Tarkov Update 1.0 Escape from Tarkov will feel very different from the game that was released back in 2017. While the core gameplay remains the same, there have been plenty of changes. All the work done in the closed beta will be part of the new version. If you're on Steam, expect to enjoy a much more refined gameplay compared to its earlier state. While you can take a sandbox approach to your survival, there will be a story with four different endings. The map will also be receiving new locations, and there are promises of DLC in the future. If you have been enjoying ARC Raiders and looking to pick something else on the side, Escape from Tarkov could be a worthwhile purchase for your Steam library. Industrial Batteries are an essential item to find if you're looking to upgrade the Gear Bench in ARC Raiders. This item spawns in different locations across all four maps, but finding them can be hectic. This guide will describe the best locations from which you can potentially find Industrial Batteries. Best Industrial Batteries location in ARC Raiders I have been looking pretty hard for this particular item since it's necessary for upgrading the Gear Bench to level 2 and level 3. You can find them spawning randomly from any industrial-themed region. I have had the most success from the Dam Battlegrounds map. There are two specific locations that you'll want to visit: Hydroponic Dome Complex and Power Generation Complex. I have marked their locations, and the Power Generation Complex has been my favorite. I have also managed to find the Power Rod from this building, which is mandatory to complete Tribute to Toledo. Industrial Batteries location on Dam Battlegrounds. Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid The Hydroponic Dome Complex is also worth a visit if you didn't find any luck in the Power Generation Complex region. You can also find Industrial Batteries from the Spaceport and Blue Gate maps. On Spaceport, you'll have to visit the Rocket Assembly building. This area has plenty of ARC enemies, so you'll need to be extremely careful. Industrial Batteries location on Spaceport. Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid On Blue Gate, you'll want to visit the Warehouse. This is a mid-tier loot area, so you'll have to be extremely cautious. I have found some dangerous ARC enemies and human players alike. Industrial Batteries location on Blue Gate. Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid Out of all three locations, Dam Battlegrounds is my top choice, followed by Blue Gate and Spaceport. You'll need Industrial Batteries for both Gear Bench upgrades, and I would advise putting them in your safe pocket in case you're unable to extract successfully. One of the more interesting ideas that has been floating around the world of gaming PCs in the last few years is the concept of back-connect motherboards. The principle of these systems is that instead of plugging cables into the top of your motherboard, where they look all messy, you plug them in from the back. However, one of the developers behind this idea has just proposed a new standard that will do away with power supply cables completely, and it's called BTF 3.0. The BTF (or Back to the Future) standard is one of two main competing standards for the back-connect concept in some of the current best gaming motherboards, with Asus the most famous backer of BTF, and Asus' biggest rival, MSI, choosing the competing Project Zero standard. Both concepts broadly offer the same cable-tidying benefit for the handful of motherboards and cases that currently support the two competing standards, but BTF 3.0 looks to take cable clearing to a whole new level. All good things have to come to an end. Silksong hype. Witcher 3 expansions. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt (okay, maybe I'm alone on that one). To quote Coven Morgana from League of Legends, "death is not the end, but a whole new beginning," even if she's referring to ritualized human sacrifice. And so too does Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 close out a spectacular run: it's final DLC, Mysteria Ecclesiaem, has arrived, capping off Henry of Skalitz medieval adventures. The RPG has received three DLCs in less than a year, and this is, supposedly, the last one we'll see. NetEase Games has published an X-Men animated series-inspired trailer for Marvel Rivals Season 5: Love is a Battlefield, revealing Rogue and Gambit as its newest playable characters. The trailer for the latest season of NetEase’s popular hero shooter features a romance theme that puts everyone’s favorite X-Men couple center stage. In typical Marvel Rivals fashion, there’s no gameplay for the mutant heroes here yet, but it does feature a blink-and-you'll-miss-it tease featuring none other than Scott Summers a.k.a. Cyclops. It also sounds like original X-Men ‘97 voice actors A.J. LoCascio (Gambit) and Lenore Zann (Rogue) will be heard voicing the two lovebirds when Season 5 launches November 14, 2025. “This season centers on Mr. and Mrs. X, Gambit and Rogue, after the Timestream Entanglement interrupted their dream wedding,” Marvel Rivals creative director Guangyun Chen a.k.a. Guangguang said in its Season 5 Dev Stream. “To make up for the disruption, Gambit has planned a honeymoon full of surprises for Rogue. But when their journey leads to a world built by the Elders of the Universe, can their love survive the ultimate cosmic test?” Gambit leads Marvel Rivals Season 5 as its first playable hero and its next Strategist. The card-throwing, staff-wielding X-Men is said to blend his kinetic abilities and combat skills to offer a unique playstyle for players. Expect to see his powers healing allies, cleansing negative effects, and even applying anti-heal to enemies. Gambit kicks things off later this week, but we’ll have to wait to learn more about Rogue. Expect to see her and her power-absorbing abilities debut at the Marvel Rivals Season 5 mid-season update in around one month. Alongside its new X-Men heroes, Marvel Rivals Season 5 is set to introduce a new 18 vs. 18 Conquest (Annihilation) mode in the new Grand Garden map come November 27. A new non-combat map, Times Square, is also on the way for Season 5, allowing up to 100 players to gather, dance, and mingle in between tense matches. NetEase will also soon celebrate one year of Marvel Rivals with a special anniversary update. Those who join the festivities when they begin November 27 will be gifted 2500 Units, as well as a free, school-themed Legendary Jeff the Land Shark costume. More gameplay adjustments, accessories, anniversary costumes, and other updates will arrive as Marvel Rivals Season 5 rolls on. Marvel Rivals Season 4 previously introduced Daredevil as a Duelist and Angela as a Vanguard. For more on the NetEase hero shooter, you can read about the Marvel Zombies-inspired PvE mode introduced last month. You can also check out our original 8/10 Marvel Rivals review. Enshrouded’s newest update, Wake of the Water, is here, and it introduced a ton of new crafting recipes and resources for you to find. Paper Reeds are one of these resources, and you’ll need them if you eventually want to catch a capybara. With it being a new item, you’d think it’d appear in the game’s newest biome, the Veilwater Basin, but that’s not necessarily the case. Luckily, Paper Reeds appear in earlier regions, so you won’t have to travel far if you still haven’t unlocked the Veilwater Basin. Table of contentsPaper Reeds location in EnshroudedPaper Reeds crafting recipes Look for the fluffy tops. Screenshot by Destructoid Paper Reeds location in Enshrouded Paper Reeds can be found in bodies of water all around Embervale. Keen Games, Enshrouded's developer, added water sources to all of the map's many biomes in the form of small ponds and lakes. You can find Paper Reeds on the water's edge in almost all of these bodies of water. I found Paper Reeds in both the Springlands and Revelwood, more specifically at the location marked on the map below. To get to this location, fast travel to the Revelwood Ancient Spire, and then glide from the top of the tower to the southeast. You should be able to spot small ponds from your aerial descent. Once you find the pond, look for tall, skinny plants with fluffy tops that line the edge of the water. This is just one pond that spawns Paper Reeds. Screenshot by Destructoid Harvesting Paper Reeds is simple: just walk up to it and press the button to add it to your inventory. Be sure to collect enough of it for all of your crafting needs. Paper Reeds crafting recipes The most prominent recipe you'll need Paper Reeds for is capybara bait and food. But Paper Reeds have other uses, such as crafting Underwater Overgrowth for any ponds you add to your base. In some older recipes, Paper Reeds can be used as a substitute for Plant Fiber, meaning you can use them to make Torches, String, Explosive Powder ******, Firefly Lamps, and Crude Mattresses, just to name a few. These plants aren't the only new resource added to Enshrouded with the Wake of the Water update. We also got Ginger, Fish Bones, Gold, Wet Boots (disgusting, right?), and more. Most of these items originate in the Veilwater Basin, so if you're looking to collect all that the new update has to offer, you better start your hunt. Augments are the centrepiece of your ARC Raiders loadouts, and getting better ones is crucial once you're past the beginner stage. Whether you're trying to enhance your fighting potential or get more loot, having better augments is pretty much necessary. There is more than one way to obtain an augment, and things get tougher if you're trying to secure the very best ones. This quick guide will highlight the best-known methods when it comes to grabbing the top-tier augments. Best ways to get top-tier augments in ARC Raiders Like almost everything in ARC Raiders, you can get top-tier augments from looting. However, these augments aren't going to spawn just about anywhere. So far, my best returns have come from areas that can only be opened with keys. These locked areas can be found on all four maps. Typically, the keys are rare spawns themselves, so you might be unable to find them on every run. They're one-time use only, and you have to be careful when looting the areas. So far, some of the best augments I have found have been from the locked areas on Spaceport and Blue Gate. If you don't want to rely on luck, however, there are a couple of different ways. Screenshot by Destructoid You can always spend in-game resources to get better augments from Lance. While better augments will cost more resources, you get plenty of credits from your raids. Hence, you should be able to get a few quite easily once you're into the mid-game phase.Another helpful option is to create your own augments from the Gear Bench. To unlock the best tiers, you'll first need to upgrade your Gear Bench, which requires quite a hefty amount of resources. If you're playing solo and going purely for loot, you'll want to get the Mk. 3 crafted for your runs. Additionally, if you don't mind engaging in PvP, looting other raiders could also help you get better augments for your runs. You won't be guaranteed a high-tier every time you loot a raider, but there's always a chance to find a special augment, along with other valuable loot.
