The new Perfect Dark is a reboot of the original game, being developed by The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics. 5. The new Fable game has made another appearance, this time at the Xbox Showcase during Summer Game Fest 2024! This came in the form of a new trailer, showing gameplay, dialogue, and a giant toad. The game is coming to Xbox, PC, and Game Pass in 2025, and is launching on Game Pass too! This mix of cinematics and gameplay finally give us a good idea of what the game will actually play like, all in the narration established in the first trailer. ******* in cheek, and ***** exciting! Fable is being developed by Playground Games, who you may know from its work on the Horizon series! This game, obviously a departure from its racing roots, is about as British as games can get. So it makes sense that one of the ***'s biggest *** studios would be responsible for this new venture. Read more View the full article

  8. Microsoft have published the very first trailer for EA and BioWare's Dragon Age: The Veilguard, formerly known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, at their summer Xbox Game Showcase. It accompanies the first details of this "immersive single player RPG" - pause for ecstatic applause from Anthem haters - "where you become the leader others believe in". Not miles from the premise of Dragon Age: Inquisition, then. That footage, tho? Not entirely Inquisitiony. Read more View the full article

  13. We've known for a while that Starfield was getting its first expansion later this year, but tonight's Xbox Games Showcase gave us its first trailer. My main takeaway? That Bethesda are leaning into cosmic horror, as the trailer features landscapes that look like they're on the other side of an Oblivion gate than anything I saw during my time with Starfield. 15. It's one of those grand weekends of lots of trailers, aka the 2024 summer gaming showcases, but I'm not watching those. I'm playing Empires of the Undergrowth, an absolutely excellent RTS about controlling an ant colony. I'm enjoying it so much, in fact, that the only one of the shows I'm going to break for is ours—The PC Gaming Show. Otherwise I'm only putting down the reins of my little ants for work. Like what I'm doing as I write this... Read more.View the full article
  16. One of the first things that interested me about Starfield before it launched was the revelation that there was a weird space cult who worshipped some kind of giant serpent. Why would astronauts believe in an eternal space snake? I couldn't wait to find out more about them... Read more.View the full article

  20. Those undead just keep on coming back from the grave as Microsoft screen a new trailer for State Of Decay 3, your latest helping of sorrowful yet bloodthirsty zombie-bopping survivalism. I reviewed State Of Decay the first and thought it was a cool scrappy underdog next to larger zombie-botherers such as Left 4 ***** or DayZ. State Of Decay 2, on the other hand, I found to be disappointing - the same game with more money behind it in a way that seemed to magnify its faults. The threequel? I have tempered expectations, but I do want it to be good. Read more View the full article

Bethesda has finally unveiled Shattered Space, the first major expansion for Starfield, which comes nearly a year after the open-world RPG debuted. Based on the first trailer, it has a much darker tone than the main Starfield campaign. No release date was revealed, but it’s coming sometime in 2024. Here’s the official premise: A mysterious power stirs in the city of Dazra on House Va’ruun’s hidden homeworld. Investigate a frightening cosmic threat, explore a new planet, and find unique weapons, spacesuits, and gear in this all-new adventure. 23. Image: Bethesda Softworks The Fallout games have seen a big boost in popularity since the live-action TV series, and Fallout 76 is primed to take advantage of that with its next major expansion. It’s called Skyline Valley, and for the first time, it will actually expand the game’s map, introducing a new Shenandoah region in the south. Bethesda says that players will “investigate the cause of an electrical storm circling overhead and unveil the mystery around Vault 63 where they will meet its dwellers and discover a shocking new Ghoul type – The Lost.” You can get a feel for the expansion in the trailer above, though it won’t be long before you can play it, as Skyline Valley launches on June 12th. 24. Dragon Age: The Veilguard has just popped up with a new trailer at the Xbox Showcase, giving us our first ever look at Bioware's next big release. This also came with a release target, with the game set to launch in this fall. Being shown off in LA as part of Summer Game Fest 2024, this is the first real showcase of the game since its reveal a few years ago. Aside from scarce info drops and the recent name-change, there's been little info to pick through until today. It's obviously been a while since we've seen anything from Dragon Age in general! Bioware has been otherwise busy with other projects since the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition in 2014, moving onto Anthem before hunkering down and working on new games in the Dragon Age and Mass Effect franchises. Here's hoping this new entry meets unavoidable lofty expectations! Read more View the full article
  25. Fallout 76 is set to introduce playable ghouls as a standalone update coming in early 2025, in what’ll be a first for the series. Yep, all those years you’ve spent in Appalachia dreaming of being exempt from worrying about radiation, you’ll have the option to bring them to an end soon. It’s a cool time for Bethesda to be introducing this in 76, given how much everyone loved Walton Goggins’ ghoulified presence in Amazon’s Fallout TV show, the second season of which is already in the works. It’s also fitting because, in addition to being able to rock his outfit right now, a lot of Appalachia’s most hardened veterans probably feel like they’ve amassed just as much wasteland weathering as Cooper Howard by this point. Once the update drops, you’ll be given the chance to play as a ghoul via a special quest that’ll become available once your vault dweller hits level 50 - obviously if you’re one of the many players who’re already well past that point, it should hopefully pop up from the get go.
