  1. The last Final Fantasy 14 Live Letter before Dawntrail gave us a lot to get excited about. Between a look at the new raid series, an even deeper ***** into the regions of Tural, and a breakdown of 7.0's new quality-of-life features, the MMORPG's upcoming expansion is going to be a big one. After getting the loudest reaction of all the reveals at last year's Las Vegas Fan Fest though, the new two-dye system is what we've all really been waiting for, and director Naoki Yoshida just gave us our best look at the system yet. 2. A decade later, Shovel Knight is one of the best modern interpretations of old-school game design I've ever seen. The 2D platformer is vibrant, a joy to control, and stuffed with so many free updates that your eyes start to pop out of your smooth blue helmet. I own it on almost every platform I have access to, and developer Yacht Club Games has just taken my wallet for another ride, as a complete Steam revamp of the modern classic is on the way with Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX. 3. There's still very little information to go on about what developer Larian Studios plans to follow up Baldur's Gate 3 with, but at least one clue to the next project is apparently already within reach. Although the potential for a fourth Baldur's Gate game or DLC is obvious, Larian is choosing to go in a different direction, with the studio working on multiple games that have nothing to do with the Dungeons & Dragons license. Although it may be some time yet before they're revealed, that certainly won't stop speculation about what could be coming next. View the full article
  4. When Fallout 4 was released, it was met with its fair share of push back from some fans of the franchise who claimed it restricted their ability to roleplay. It was felt that the dialogue options did not accurately reflect what they wanted their character to say, while others felt too confined by the main storyline. Granted, unlike previous entries in the Fallout series, roleplaying in Fallout 4 can be a little trickier, but by getting creative, there is still a lot of fun to be had. View the full article
  5. Like most RPGs, Yakuza: Like a Dragon features a variety of classes known as Jobs. These Jobs are split between male and female characters, but any character of that gender can have any Job available to their gender. Each character starts with a Job already assigned to them, but you can change their Job and better hone their skills to your liking. View the full article
  6. New Genshin Impact leaks about Natlans Pyro Archon have started to emerge and, this time, instead of leaning into the characters alleged description, the rumors talk about key points in the story. Officially, the Pyro Archon is shrouded in mystery and their whereabouts are unknown for over 1,000 years in fact, it is unknown if the character called Murata is still the reigning deity in the Nation of Pyro. Earlier this year, however, some rumors started describing the Pyro Archons leaked design in Genshin Impact, hinting at a Carnaval-inspired outfit. View the full article
  7. Before he owned videogames growing up, FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki loved tabletop RPGs and their source books full of quests and monsters. It's not hard to see that passion reflected in any of the games he's designed at FromSoftware, but Elden Ring particularly so: Its sprawling map echoes the kinds I loved to pore over and draw myself (poorly) as a ****, from Lord of the Rings' Middle-earth to Warcraft's Azeroth. Elden Ring also seems to directly connect back to the RPGs of the '80s with its skeleton-filled catacombs, like tabletop-style dungeons ripped straight from the pages of an AD&D campaign... 8. Noir is an underserved genre in gaming. We've had games like L.A. Noire, Discworld Noir, and the first two Max Payne games giving us some hard boiled goodness but overall noir is thin on the ground. You'd think the types of tales about detectives and ********** circling each other as they fall into darkness would be more popular, but alas they're relatively rare. Thankfully some developers are working on adding a little darkness and cynicism into the world and Fallen Aces is counted among that number. Read the rest of the story... View the full article

  10. The International Olympic Committee announced on June 14 that it is currently in “advanced discussions with a potential host” for the upcoming first Olympic Esports Games, but fans are skeptical of the event’s success after a largely lackluster edition of the Games last year. The development comes after IOC President Thomas Bach asked the IOC Esports Commission last year to “study the creation of the Olympic Esports Games” and announced it in the IOC session in Mumbai, India, last October. According to the Associated Press, the dates for the first Olympic Esports Games should be announced soon after the July 23 meeting in Paris. View the full article

That’s precisely the fantasy Tactical Breach Wizards brings to life by blending tactical combat with magic, and it does so in an incredibly humorous fashion. The game’s campaign is about eight to 10 hours long, according to Tactical Breach Wizards‘ Steam page, and you play as a party of wizard cops and detectives. 15. Now that the Faker Ahri bundle is officially released across all League of Legends regions, players in Brazil are questioning whether the Immortalized Legend Collection breaks consumer protection laws in the country due to laws against the ***** of digital bundles. The Ahri bundle has already been met with much controversy as fans have been debating for weeks about the bundle’s exorbitant price tag. By spending upwards of $450, players can unlock an exclusive skin for Ahri and limited-time battle cosmetics like chromas, emotes, and icons. However, as discussed by League players based in Brazil in a June 13 Reddit thread, Riot Games may actually be breaking the country’s law regarding the ***** of such a product. View the full article

  19. Season four of Diablo 4 has largely been a success. Steam reviews are climbing, community sentiment seems better, and player numbers have risen and have yet to drop down. For arguably the first time since the game launched, it's in a good position. That's something developer Blizzard recognizes and is reflected in the scope of the next patch for the game. 20. One of the affected Intel processors. | Photo by Tom Warren / The Verge For months, Intel’s highest-end desktop gaming processors have had a strange tendency to occasionally make games ****** — and despite what you might have seen earlier today, Intel says it doesn’t have a final fix for its 13th and 14th Gen Intel Core i9 “Raptor Lake” and “Raptor Lake S” chips just yet. [/url] “Contrary to recent media reports, Intel has not confirmed root cause and is continuing, with its partners, to investigate user reports regarding instability issues on unlocked Intel Core 13th and 14th generation (K/KF/KS) desktop processors,” reads a statement via Intel spokesperson Thomas Hannaford. It continues: “The microcode patch referenced in press reports fixes an eTVB bug discovered by Intel while investigating the instability... Continue reading… View the full article

  22. What's the scariest game you've ever played? Resident Evil, when the dogs first jump through the window. Silent Hill, and the opening section with the chain-link fence and the wheelchair. There's Amnesia, Alien Isolation, the Ravenholm section from Half-Life 2. But there's one forgotten PC game, from the same golden era as Myst, Riven, and Monkey Island, that is perhaps creepier - or at least stranger - than any other. Filled with esoteric and fastidiously detailed artwork, outlandish theories about the nature of reality, and one of the bleakest narratives in game history, after 30 years of silence, Drowned **** has suddenly resurfaced. 25. It must be very difficult to be making a follow up game for a series that's become legendary. You can't just make more of the same, because times have changed and so have tasted. You can't alter too much because you'll alienate the core fanbase who've been with you since the start. That's the unenviable position Dragon Age The Veilguard finds itself in and it's taking some bold moves that might pay off - or might make people very ****** indeed. Read the rest of the story...
