Everyone wants to be a soulslike, or at least that's how it can feel at times. The big names like FromSoftware keep on hitting new heights with Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and of course the three Dark Souls games. In the background, there's a susurration of soulslikes continually appearing, like Lords of the Fallen, Mortal Shell, ***** of P, and Thymesia. None manage to really hit the same notes as FromSoft, however, with the legendary developer showing a perpetual mastery of the genre. The upcoming PlayStation 5 console exclusive, Forever Skies, has a demo available on the PS Store now. Forever Skies was originally released on PC via Steam and has been in early access since June 22, 2023. It was announced in February 2024 that developer Far From Home had signed a deal with Sony to release Forever Skies as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive. Earlier today, Bungie tugged back the curtain on Act II of the Revenant episode, which starts on Tuesday 19 November. As had been widely expected, the update will include a reprised version of the Prison Of Elders activity, which has now been made more roguelike—think The Coil and Riven's Lair, if you've played either of those. Interestingly, a new mechanic will enable dialled in fireteams to skip certain sections with the tradeoff being that they'll face more difficult enemies. It's felt like an oddly-quiet time for Destiny 2 recently. Well, aside from that whole perk weighting saga. But in terms of the game's story and seasonal content, Bungie's decision to dump everything Revenant Act 1 had to offer at the very start has resulted in a fairly long wait for more. However, today's developer livestream has put that wait to an end.
