  3. Despite huge pre-release hype and generally positive reviews, Starfield's reception has been somewhat mixed. The game has fallen short of the universal acclaim that Bethesda likely hoped for. While praised for its scope, ambition, and Bethesda's signature charm, several key aspects have drawn criticism, significantly impacting its overall perception. It's not hard to see the flaws, even as a fan. However, there is one major point of contention in particular that is holding the game back. View the full article
  4. A reliable source in the Genshin Impact community has leaked the four 5-Star characters that will be featured in Version 5.3, but their release order could potentially break a long-standing rule. As Genshin Impact continues to expand its roster of playable characters, maintaining a consistent schedule for the Event Banners is becoming an increasingly difficult task. Characters such as Shenhe and Ganyu continue their long absence, while Neuvillette and Kazuha enjoy frequent reruns on the Event Banners. View the full article

  6. Arriving in February of next year, Aetherdrift is a racing themed Magic: The Gathering release which takes place across multiple worlds. Last month, when artwork for Aetherdrift was shown off, fans immediately sussed out two of these pit stops, but the third, a jungle plane covered in plants, proved more challenging. Now, the game's head designer has more-or-less confirmed its identity: the prehistoric plane of Muraganda. Read the rest of the story... 10. The enemies of survival shooter Stalker 2 have a funny habit of showing up right behind you, like a panto villain with an AK-47. Far from being a premeditated ambush by intelligent AI-controlled soldiers, this is just a result of the game's janky spawns. Those botched encounters are unlike previous games, where roaming bands of factional murderfolk would patrol the radioactive wastes, seemingly according to their own whims. Back in the day, this wandering baddies feature was dubbed "A-life" by developers GSC Game World - basically a jargon word for the simulation of enemies that would lead to "emergent" moments of ********* and conflict. It was promised as a feature in Stalker 2 but many players have noticed it seems to be absent. Over the weekend, GSC insisted the simulation is technically present in the sequel. It's just broken. 11. A new Intel Core Ultra update is coming that will address some of its disappointing performance issues, according to reports from a PC overclocker. The microcode update will apparently patch Intel's brand-new gaming CPU lineup which, despite improved power consumption, has not provided good enough gaming performance. Despite the best efforts from Intel, the best gaming CPUs aren't coming from its Arrow Lake launch lineup right now. As our Intel Core Ultra 7 265K review shows, the chip maker seems to have gone backwards, with the double whammy of both surprisingly poor performance and a high price making the whole Arrow Lake lineup a poor option for gamers, at least for the moment. 15. If you’re a fan of Warhammer 40k, you know John Blanche. Even if it’s you’re first time hearing his name, you’ll be familiar with his fingerprints on some of the setting’s most defining artwork. He’s responsible for that iconic imagine of the emprah - the one the best shows off the dark irony of a such a wretched figure becoming an idol of worship. While the term ‘grimdark’ originates from 40k’s "in the grim darkness of the far future…" tagline, grimdark as an aesthetic is one Blanche pioneered. There’s even a style of miniature painting - Blanchitsu - named after him. Basically, even games that don’t use the 40k license owe an incredible amount to Blanche’s work. That’s not to mention his influence on the fantasy setting of the Total War: Warhammer series either. His piece Harry The Hammer was the cover for the first edition of Fantasy Battle - recently added to the strategy game as chaos hero Harold Hammerstorm. I could go on, and I might do so in a bit, but here’s the news: Trademark Films are making a documentary on Blanche’s work, starring Napoleon Dynamite actor Jon Heder. It’s called The Grim And The Dark: The Search For John Blanche, and it’s out next Spring. Here’s a trailer: Read more View the full article
  16. Microsoft have "applied a compatibility hold" to – i.e., blocked the installation of – a new Windows 11 update that’s causing havoc with certain Ubisoft games. Star Wars Outlaws, *********'s Creed Valhalla, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora are among the weirdly publisher-specific victims of Windows 11 version 24H2, which by Microsoft’s admission (well spotted, Bleeping Computer) is causing crashes and ***** performance in the affected games. 17. If Arcane season two’s finale left you scratching your head, well, you are not alone because the highly-rated Netflix show has the heavy task of connecting all the loose ends, and not everyone in Piltover and Zaun has a simple ending to their story. As multiple story plotlines are happening simultaneously in Arcane season two, you might find it challenging to understand and keep track of everything that has concluded in the season finale. For the League of Legends champions, everyone had different endings in the show. Some were self-explanatory, while others were quite cryptic and open to interpretation. View the full article
