  3. "Little Rocket Man" is truly one of the greatest bits in videogame history—a challenging achievement in Half-Life 2: Episode 2 that requires you to carry a cherubic little garden gnome named "Gnome Chompski" through the entirety of the campaign and ******** the wee fellow on a rocket ship to another dimension in the final level. The Chompski achievement returned in several later Valve games, including Half-Life: Alyx. It reached apotheosis with Gabe Newell's 2020 IRL recreation, with a tangible Chompski launched into space as a fundraiser for a pediatric charity. And it all began with bored Valve QA testers messing around with physics props in Half-Life 2... Read more.View the full article

  16. Last week I wrote about a particular bug in Stalker 2 and how similar it was to a bug I encountered in Stalker: Call of Pripyat way back in 2010. 17. Fairly early in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl's main quest, players will find an unusual PDA. This device contains important information, and even if Skif can't fully understand it at first, he can decide whether to show it to or hide it from a series of NPCs during the quest "Back to the Slag Heap." This is where the factional conflict at the heart of STALKER 2 starts to come to a head: both the authoritarian Ward and the researchers of Spark want access to the PDA's data, and are willing to go to great lengths to go it. 18. Insomniac's Spider-Man was a smash hit when it first released in 2018, and 2023's Spider-Man 2, starring Miles Morales as the playable Spidey protagonist, was no different. If you haven't played it, you absolutely owe it to yourself to get in on it ASAP. With improved movement options and the ability to play as Miles or Peter, it's the best the gameplay the series has seen yet. Right now, Spider-Man 2 is over half off at Walmart for its ****** Friday *****. Walmart+ members grab it for just $30 right now (sign up here for half price), but if you aren't a member and don't plan on signing up, you can score this price at 5pm ET... assuming there are any left. Good luck! Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (PS5) for $30 The Walmart deal is active now for Walmart+ members, and 5pm ET for everyone See it on Amazon (if stock gets refilled) Amazon had the same deal earlier, but stocks ran out. These might get reupped, but I wouldn't count on it. Should You Sign Up for Walmart+? Even though Walmart’s first wave of ****** Friday offers had a 50% discount on a 12-month Walmart+ membership, and a subscription gives you early access to deals that might be out by the time it opens up to everyone else, it's still probably not worth signing up just for a single deal. Instead, figure out how much you will actually get and save during this event, then consider whether early access to Walmart’s deals or the other 12-month membership benefits are appealing enough. The more you are gonna grab, the sweeter the deal. What We Said in Our Review In our 8/10 review of Spider-Man 2, we said, "As a sequel in a spectacular series, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is both blessed and cursed. Its story of two Spider-Men is a great time and a Spidey fan’s dream to play through as comic book pages are brought to life, elegantly walking the tightrope between light humour and heavier themes. Meanwhile, Insomniac refines a successful formula of combat and web-swinging without revolutionising either in major ways, making them comfy and familiar with just enough new tweaks and abilities to elevate them to fun new heights. "The part that feels like it actually needed a ******** rethinking is the open world of New York City, which has been made ******* but not better, with an exhausting checklist of mostly repetitious side activities. But it’s safe to call this another thrilling Spider-Man adventure that delivers Insomniac's best tale yet, and despite its open world falling short, it's a reliably fun superhero power trip. And, you know what? ****** it. It really did make me feel like Spider-Man, too." 20. Marvel Snap’s latest update to its pool of cards, affecting how difficult or expensive it is to obtain certain ones, is receiving some well-deserved backlash from the card battler’s community. Snap cards are sorted into different Series, numbered one through five, with Series Five cards being the rarest and usually most powerful in the game. But with Series Drops, cards move from Five to Four, and Four to Three, in efforts to make them easier to obtain over time. Unfortunately, Series Drops now occur less often than before (just twice this year), and the next one set for the beginning of December has the community in an uproar. Just three cards are dropping from Series Four to Three, and nine are dropping from Five to Four. And looking at the cards set to drop, very few of them are meta-defining—or even all that playable or useful in the current meta. And the card game’s players were vocal about their displeasure in the comments. View the full article

As the journey that began in Dragon Age: Inquisition concludes, there are plenty of reveals in The Veilguard that might catch some completely off guard. View the full article
