  2. With each Counter-Strike Major, players have the chance to select their own Pick’Ems and earn prestigious awards if they’re correct. The case is no different with the Perfect World CS2 Shanghai Major, though, it feels like this time the predictions are tougher than ever. The tournament is divided into two stages: Opening and Elimination, with the latter featuring both a Swiss System competition and single-elimination playoffs. Like always, players may pick their predictions in each of those stages, and if they get the majority of them right, their in-game Coin will be upgraded. A better Coin, on the other hand, means you receive more Souvenir Tokens to exchange for containers with sweet skins—if you purchase the viewer pass, that is. View the full article
  3. It's been a very exciting week for Disney Dreamlight Valley, as the popular simulation game has released its latest expansion pass, The Storybook Vale. Released on November 20, The Storybook Vale is the first installment of a two-part expansion pass, with the second to release in Summer of 2025 at no additional cost to the player. The expansion pass is the second expansion pass to be launched for Disney Dreamlight Valley, and is an impressive follow-up to the first, A Rift In Time. The Storybook Vale has introduced a huge amount of new content, quests and features for players to enjoy. View the full article
  4. An on-going lawsuit against Valve about Steam's "anti-competitive" practices and especially, its infamous 30% per-game revenue cut, has taken an interesting twist. 7. Monster Hunter Wilds is without question my most-anticipated game of 2025, and I'm sure that's true for many. But if you're craving a behemoth-battling fix in the meantime, let me recommend Dauntless. It's a slightly more arcadey take on the formula, but one that fundamentally gets what makes it tick - and is perhaps a more approachable first taste if you're completely new to the genre. As developer Phoenix Labs unveils its game-changing Dauntless Awakening update, it also confirms that you'll be able to play the free game on Steam for the first time ever. 8. Given that thousands of games come out every year, it's inevitable that there's going to be some crossover. Half-Life, you might argue, is a derivative of *****. Cities Skylines is a lot like SimCity. There's common ground between Stalker and Fallout. But a new crafting and survival game from Tencent, the publishing and development giant which has stakes in Ubisoft, Riot, Paradox, and dozens of other major companies, seems to wear its inspirations very prominently on its sleeve. If you've played Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West, or Palworld, the freshly announced Light of Motiram may look extremely familiar. Read the rest of the story... 12. Palworld developers Pocketpair have revealed a new major update, which introduces "the largest and harshest" island in the survival game's history, together with new tower bosses and new pals. 13. The mighty 4X genre is my forever obsession. Even while massive RPGs and life-consuming MMOs steal me away, I'm never too far away from conducting another conquest of a fantasy realm or an entire galaxy, rallying my armies or pretending I'm down for diplomacy when I'm really just planning to pinch some new technology. But for the last decade, every conquest, every deal, every new city plonked down has hammered home one sorrowful fact: this doesn't feel quite as good as it did in Endless Legend... 16. Palworld developer Pocketpair has teased a major update for the game coming in December as well as a crossover with Terraria. Taking to the Palworld Discord, Pocketpair said the December update adds the “largest, harshest, and most mysterious” island yet to Palworld. This new island is about six times ******* than Sakurajima, which hit Palworld in June. “Don't miss it!” Pocketpair teased alongisde the screenshots, below. Meanwhile, Pocketpair teased a surprise crossover with indie smash hit Terraria. There are no details yet, but artwork, below, shows characters from both games clasping hands. Expect whatever this is to arrive in 2025. All this comes, of course, as Pocketpair works to defend itself in a high-profile patent lawsuit filed by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. After Palworld’s huge launch earlier this year on PC and Xbox, comparisons were made between Palworld’s Pals and Pokémon, with some accusing Pocketpair of "ripping off" Pokémon designs. But rather than file a copyright infringement lawsuit, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have gone down the patent route. They want 5 million yen (approx $32,846) each plus late payment damages, as well as an injunction against Palworld that would block its release. Earlier this month, Pocketpair confirmed the three Japan-based patents, which revolve around catching Pokémon in a virtual field, that it's being sued over. Palworld does include a mechanic that involves throwing a ball-like object (called a Pal Sphere) at monsters out in a field to capture them, similar to the mechanic seen in the 2022 Nintendo Switch exclusive Pokémon Legends: Arceus. One of the three patents in question is about riding on top of Pokémon (Palworld also lets players ride Pals). One patent expert has suggested a GTA 5 mod dating back to 2016 may be recognized as a precedent by the court because it included the catching Pokémon mechanic long before Pokémon Legends: Arceus. If that happens, it could work in Palworld’s favor. Palworld launched on Steam priced $30 and straight into Game Pass on Xbox and PC earlier this year, breaking sales and concurrent player number records in the process. Pocketpair boss Takuro Mizobe has said Palworld's launch was so big that the developer couldn’t handle the massive profits the game generated. Still, Pocketpair acted swiftly to capitalize on Palworld’s breakout success, signing a deal with Sony to form a new business called Palworld Entertainment that’s tasked with expanding the IP. Patent experts have said Nintendo and The Pokémon Company’s lawsuit against Pocketpair is evidence of the threat posed by Palworld, which has since gone on to launch on PS5. Pocketpair has vowed to take on Nintendo and The Pokémon Company in court, saying: “We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings.” Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN. 23. If I was to describe Supervive in one word, it'd be relentless. Sure, that relates to the gameplay itself - frenetic top-down action that thrusts you into the jungle head-first - but it also describes its meteoric rise to prominence throughout 2024. Fully unveiled back in June, the game has gone from a relative nobody to an internet sensation, taking over X (formerly Twitter) and shattering its own records left, right, and center. While people will tag Palworld or Helldivers 2 as this year's biggest success stories, Supervive is easily the game that will live in my memory as 2024's biggest winner. Read the rest of the story...
