  2. Stealth launching a game during an awards ceremony is cool. But you know what's cooler? Stealth launching a union. Employees at Zenimax Online Studios launched their union with 461 members, as announced on social media site Bluesky last night. Read more View the full article
  3. Warframe's weirdest update is due out today, Digital Extremes announced at The Game Awards last night. And that's saying a lot, for a game that absolutely revels in the strange. 4. The K416 is an assault rifle only available to the support class in Delta Force Warfare. It’s quite different from the rest of the assault rifle lineup but can still be a powerful tool with the right build. As a support weapon, the K416 leans more towards close-quarter combat, akin to a submachine gun, especially when compared to assault rifles like CAR-15 and M4A1. Most of the fights in Delta Force are medium to long-range, making the K416 a situational choice depending on the sector you’re fighting for. View the full article

The free update, Omens of Tyranny, features the return of the Illuminate faction and brings the fighting to new urban environments inside Super Earth’s colonies. “The Illuminate are spreading through mind control, abducting citizens of weaker dedication to democratic ideals and brainwashing them for a dark purpose which is still yet unknown to us,” Katherine Baskin, social media and community manager at Arrowhead Game Studios, said in a PlayStation Blog post. 9. Among the many, many things that were shown off at last night's Keighleyfest - The Game Awards - were few things that I'm really excited about. Sure, The Witcher 4 was a big one, but there were others, and two of them have more common ground than you might expect from a couple of games set literally miles apart. They're Project Century and ******: The Old Country and they both look like they'll scratch my weird itch for fights that take place when my great grandad was alive. Read more View the full article

  14. Earlier this week we heard rumblings of a new character announcement for Tekken 8, and at the same time a trailer dropped a big unmistakable hint for red-dressed rabble rouser Anna Williams. 15. Will the bulletting of my beloved dinosaurs never cease? Turok: Origins will revisit the dino-hunting archery of ye olde Nintendo 64, reimagining it as a story of three native huntsfolk out to lambast large lizards. 17. Elden Ring: Nightreign was a fantastic reveal for Soulslike fans at this year’s The Game Awards, and the spin-off’s director Junya Ishizaki recently revealed Spirit Ashes will exist in the next title within a different gameplay mechanic. Standalone Elden Ring projects were previously teased by Hidetaka Miyazaki when the director confirmed FromSoftware was not working on a direct sequel, and many fans were betting on a multiplayer title being one of them. 18. According to frustrated Fortnite players, Epic Games has set a seemingly impossible weekly quest. What should be a relatively easy search task has turned into one of the toughest missions in Fortnite Chapter Six, season one. You are not alone if you have been searching high and low for the Earth Sprite. Fortnite players have been venting their frustrations on r/FortNiteBR at how hard it is to come across one. Although these tree spirit creatures are meant to be rare, their low spawn rate means many players haven’t even seen one. View the full article

  20. With the Illuminate finally live in Helldivers 2, Sony has released the new Urban Legends premium Warbond to aid players in their defence of Super Earth. The arrival of the alien Illuminate invasion fleet also brings with it new urban environments to fight in. These colony planets include narrow streets and close encounters, and so the new additions to the game revolve around a defensive, War of the Worlds-type action. Urban Legends adds Helldivers 2’s first melee secondary weapon, the SQC-19 Stun Lance. This extra-large poker offers good range and pairs well with the SH-51 Directional Shield stratagem, Arrowhead social media and community manager Katherine Baskin said in a post on the PlayStation Blog. As game director Mikael Eriksson told IGN in a recent interview, the Illuminate offer a tougher fight than the Terminids or the Automatons. Many of their big hitters have shields, including the imposing Harvesters. So, the E/AT-12 Anti-Tank Emplacement, new with this warbond, is recommended to help take them down. Meanwhile, the A/FLAM-40 Flame Sentry is useful for taking down a horde of Voteless (mind-controlled colonists who act like zombies). It’s a stationary, high-powered flamethrower turret, although based on IGN’s hands-on with the Illuminate update, it poses as much of a threat to friendlies as it does to enemies. There’s also the new Armed Resupply Pods booster, which upgrades your resupply pods with a tiny top-mounted turret. Armor wise, there’s the SR-18 Roadblock heavy armor for that bulky spartan look, and the SR-24 Street Scout light armor for a S.E.A.F trooper look. Both of these armors feature the Siege Ready passive, which increases your primary weapon reload speed by 30% and your primary ammo capacity by 20%. That’ll be helpful against the relentless Voteless. The two new capes are the Greatcloak of Rebar Resolve and the Holder of the Yellow Line. The new emote is ‘This is Democracy.’ The Illuminate join the bugs and bots as Helldivers 2’s third enemy faction, and are set to breathe new life into the explosive third-person co-op action game. Helldivers 2 is the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game of all time, having shifted an incredible 12 million copies in just 12 weeks following its February launch. 21. FromSoftware surprised everyone at The Game Awards 2024 last night with the reveal of co-op spin-off Elden Ring Nightreign, but if that's not shocking enough, it also features bosses from Dark Souls. Fans were quick to notice the debut trailer for Elden Ring Nightreign appeared to feature one of Dark Souls' most infamous bosses, the Nameless King from Dark Souls 3, and game director Junya Ishizaki confirmed to Famitsu, in an interview translated by Automaton that baddies from Dark Souls will in fact appear. Their appearances will be limited, Ishizaki said, as they represent creatures that have strayed into this twisted version of Limgrave from other universes. While he only mentioned Dark Souls, this theoretically opens the door for other FromSoftware games such as ******'s Souls, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and, dare we say it, Bloodborne to cameo. is that the NAMELESS KING IN ELDEN RING byu/oneethan inEldenring .reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; } Elden Ring Nightreign drops up to three players into a condensed version of Limgrave from the main Elden Ring and tasks them with surviving. Enemies and structures are procedurally generated to allow for a varied experience, with players encouraged to battle to grow stronger and survive the night, when a boss appears. Surviving three days and nights spawns a major boss for players to take down, and the game has eight in total for players to conquer. IGN has already played the game and you can read our impressions here. And be sure to read our big interview with Elden Ring Nightreign's game director to get even more info on how it all works. Elden Ring Nightreign was announced during an incredibly busy The Game Awards which also included the announcements of The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog's next game among many others. 22. Destiny 2’s holiday event is upon the Last City. As part of the Dawning event, guardians have to take down countless enemies and gain ingredients to bake cookies for their favorite NPCs, with the possibility of earning seasonal loot on the way. What determines the ingredients you might receive in the Dawning is the enemy type you’ve defeated and how you defeated it. Taken enemies have a chance of dropping Taken Butter, for instance, but killing a Taken enemy with a sword might actually give you Sharp Flavor instead. View the full article
