This is the fallout of the SAG-AFTRA strike for ol' Riot: As announced on the studio's X account earlier this week, the Riot Games will "be temporarily using existing (base) VO for some English-language skins in League of Legends & Wild Rift. Other languages will still have custom VO. Once the strike ends, we’ll record new VO with the original actors.".. Read more.View the full article
Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead is giving all players free Killzone items starting today, December 19, in response to a backlash over pricing. In a post on the Helldivers 2 Steam page, Arrowhead said it had talked to Killzone developer Guerrilla Games and is now gifting the items that were meant to be sold as part of the crossover’s second wave next week. “As this was our first crossover offering, we’ve been listening to the response, and the feedback we’ve received from our community surveys is that crossover content is really high up on your wishlists,” Arrowhead said in its statement. “At the same time, some of you are not happy with the prices of the items and we will revisit this. “Many of you were also concerned that items wouldn’t be in rotation for long enough, and there was a bit of concern around how these items exist outside of our usual Warbond releases, which are always themed in our own universe. “Because of all this, in partnership with our friends at Guerrilla (and as we’re in the season of holiday cheer), we’ve decided to offer a gift to all players. “Firstly, we are gifting to everyone the planned second wave of the Helldivers x Killzone collaboration items today, free of charge. The distribution of those items will begin shortly, in two waves.” Arrowhead added that it will extend the duration of the items currently in the Superstore from five days to 10 days “so that you have a chance to get hold of it and reduce the risk of missing out.” It’s also working out how to bring the Killzone items back permanently. Meanwhile, the W.A.S.P. stratagem will be available for all to unlock via a major order shortly. Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. EA also seems to have put a high level of effort into making College Football 25, something that can’t always be said about an EA Sports title. View the full article

Between Cuphead, Enter the Gungeon, and Vampire Survivors, in recent years the bullet hell genre has heralded some of the most-loved games on PC. Frenetic, fast, and punishing, bullet hells (and heavens) share a lot of common ground with the traditional roguelike - if you like solving puzzles while trying to avoid getting shot to bits, you're probably also a fan of Dead Cells, Cult of the Lamb, and the other roguelike staples. You take all these influences, add the development pedigree of beloved Steam cult hit Helltaker, and drop the price to an irresistible zero dollars, and you get Awaria, which has already earned near-perfect reviews and is available right now. A prominent Fortnite leaker has revealed that Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper, two skins that haven't been seen in the item shop for over seven years, may be returning to the game. Many Fortnite players have strong feelings when it comes to old cosmetics returning to the shop after years away. In the past, Epic Games has tried to appease fans who own such cosmetics by giving them extra styles exclusive to "OG players." However, that doesn't seem to be happening with Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper. View the full article
There are many reasons why Infinity Nikki has blown up in the last week since its launch on December 5, but one seemingly minor feature might be one of the strongest. From the game's enormous open world of Miraland to its countless minigames and Styling Contests to the abundance of outfits to collect, Infinity Nikki is filling a void where a fun game reminiscent of nostalgic Barbie games from the 2000s had been missing. There's a lot to like about the game, and Infinity Nikki's already dedicated player database has made this clear, with over 10 million downloads so far. View the full article

Insults are so serious, these days. They're all so insulting, whereas the kinds of insult I cherish are the ones that coax a belly laugh from both the instigator of the roast and the roastee. Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks was part of a set of sweeping layoffs that shocked the industry earlier this year, least of all because the studio's last game, Hi-Fi Rush, was pretty much a success by most metrics, winning awards, a "breakout hit by all key measurements and expectations", according to Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg. Cue a parade of anything other than a straight answer... Read more.View the full article
The seas have been choppy of late for live services games looking to make a name for themselves, with most of them sinking forlornly to the bottom of the Steam charts. Skull and Bones is one such game that seems to be heading in that direction. It's not that it's bad exactly, as corroborated by our review, it's just that stripping the colourful characters, the exploration, and swashbuckling silliness out the Golden Age of Piracy setting in favour of unsightly live-service trappings leaves you with something rather niche, instead of a fantasy that just about anyone can get onboard with (like, say, Sea of Thieves or ****** Flag)... With Ciri becoming the protagonist of The Witcher 4, there are bound to be some big changes from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game that made CD Projekt Red the juggernaut studio that it is today. Other than the absence of Geralt's constant, snarky remarks and tendency to say "wind's howling" every two seconds, Ciri looks to bring some different gameplay elements compared to her mentor if the reveal trailer at the Game Awards is representative of the game. Still, she is a Witcher and no longer seems to use her space and time powers seen in Wild Hunt. View the full article
2023's Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is a game I will always advocate for. One of the best strategy games in recent years, you can think of it as a stealth-driven blend of Commandos and XCOM with a crew of magical pirates. It's the final release from indie developer Mimimi Games, who previously brought us Shadow Tactics and Desperados 3, but stepped away from development at the end of that year. Now, the team has partnered with indie strategy publisher Hooded Horse, known for the likes of Manor Lords and Against the Storm, to ensure its ultimate game will be preserved for the long haul. To wile away the dark and dreariness of Scottish wintertime, I've found myself diving back into Baldur's Gate 3. As someone who initially hated its turn-based combat, I've fallen in love with the tactical strategizing and coinflip decision-making; something that I genuinely didn't expect would happen. While I've still not made it to the titular city yet, it's a genre that I'm eager to explore, and Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch looks like it could be the perfect companion to BG3. Stalker 2's landing on PC last month probably went about as expected. Combine that with the Stalker series' track record of brilliant yet bug-filled games, and Stalker 2 wound up, in the words of our reviewer Josh, filled with performance issues and bugs that "don't stop Stalker's mad, wonderful heart from shining through"...
