Mydei may get nerfed in Honkai: Star Rail 3.1, according to a new set of leaks highlighting an upcoming mechanic, but it may not actually be detrimental to the character and instead, a way of increasing the gameplay’s challenge factor. Version 3.1 is the next big patch for HoYoverse’s turn-based RPG and one that is confirmed to give continuity to the Amphoreus story arc introduced with Version 3.0. The developer has also confirmed that the new playable characters will be Mydei and Tribbie in Honkai: Star Rail, both of which have already been introduced as NPCs in the story missions. Nearly a year after its initial release, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has come to PC, and it is well worth the wait. While largely the same as its console counterparts, what changes have been made to Rebirth are mostly to its benefit. The game looks better than ever while still delivering on the gameplay that made it a hit in the first place. View the full article
This review contains some story spoilers for the original FF7 and subsequently some elements of Rebirth, but doesn't spoil how Rebirth ultimately reinterprets these elements. I argued with myself for several weeks in university about whether to go to a seminar discussing T.S. Eliot's The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock. The poem meant enough to me that I didn't want to dissect it with a class. I wanted to keep for myself. I went in the end, and though I hesitated, I talked because I had things to say. It didn't kill the poem for me, but it does have a slightly awkward gait now, having never quite recovered from the incisions. I now have to etherise Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Cait Sith is splayed upon a table. It's all scalpels, forceps, and oversized novelty dice. It's a strange way to treat art you love. The feeling I remember most from Rebirth on release is how grateful I felt to be alive to play it. Acute, active awareness of my own mortality with thoughts like "it would be properly ***** if I died right now because I'd really like to see how this pans out". A personal 'never kill yourself' moment months before the meme gave voice, as the best often do, to an obscure and precious feeling. An RPG where your character sometimes knocks on doors before opening them? What a time to be alive. Read more View the full article

If you’re on a painful losing streak in Marvel Rivals, but suddenly your Moon Knight shines in the next match and melts the opponents without mercy, let me be the ******’s advocate and tell you that you might have been playing against bots. Like any free-to-play multiplayer game, Marvel Rivals also has superhero bots that are not real players, making matchmaking faster. These bots usually have similar names to real players, but it’s usually harder to differentiate between a real player and a bot until you pay close attention to their gameplay. View the full article
Dungeons are a three-player endgame activity in Destiny 2 and are like small raids with dedicated mechanics and shiny loot. While dungeons are meant for three players, every one of them is designed to be possible to complete solo, and there are even associated triumphs and rewards for doing that. Some dungeons are much easier to solo than others, but regardless of the dungeon, you want to have a defined build that can keep you alive, above all. There’s no one to revive you, and death means wiping and starting the encounter from the beginning. View the full article

As expected, Mortal Kombat 1 players have unearthed the secret Floyd fight mere hours after guest character Conan the Barbarian went live, but they’re still not sure exactly how to trigger a battle with the mysterious pink ninja. Floyd is the name of a once rumored, now real pink ninja currently available to fight in Mortal Kombat 1. NetherRealm development chief Ed Boon had teased fans over the years by referencing a pink ninja called Floyd, and, back in 2023, Mortal Kombat dataminer TheThiny unearthed text in the Mortal Kombat 1 files that referenced a character of the same name. Only now though, years later, is Floyd actually in Mortal Kombat 1, although the specifics are hazy. Warning! Spoilers for Mortal Kombat 1’s secret Floyd fight follow: TheThiny has revealed the secret Floyd fight, which is preceded by a cool cutscene in which ninjas of various colors appear in beams of light before settling on our pink friend. You then get the unique “YOU FOUND FLOYD” text flash on-screen. The idea, it appears, is that Floyd is all Mortal Kombat’s ninjas in one, a bit like Chameleon from Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. But how do you actually trigger the fight? It’s unclear at the moment. TheThiny said the fight was discovered after a player completed “a bunch of Floyd challenges then he appears. This video was taken in the Towers.” How many challenges must be completed? We’re not sure, but it’s a lot. Could it be that each challenge completion increases the chance Floyd will turn up? We’re not sure, but maybe? Players are still working out Floyd’s moveset, which appears to combine attacks and abilities from various characters on the roster. Floyd isn’t officially playable, but that hasn’t stopped dataminers from getting hands-on with the character. What’s super cool is that beating Floyd in this secret fight unlocks a brand new stage, the beautiful Field, which players have already noticed is from the Mortal Kombat 1 announcement trailer. New Stage: Field#MK1 #MortalKombat1 [Hidden Content] — thethiny (@thethiny) January 21, 2025 So, Floyd is in Mortal Kombat 1, which means Ed Boon has finally made good on his desire to add the character. Sticking with Boon, he’s teased a T-1000 Fatality, confirmed Mortal Kombat 1 has sold over five million copies, and maybe suggested more DLC characters are on the way. Image credit: TheThiny. ***** has launched its own account system akin to the Nintendo Account or Ubisoft Connect that will "maximize" its online services and offer various benefits, kicking off with a free costume for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. The aptly named ***** Account was revealed on its new {LINK REMOVED}website and is described as "an online profile that gives you access to a host of benefits when playing ***** and Atlus titles and using their online services. "By creating a ***** Account, you'll receive the latest news about ***** and Atlus games, events, and promotions. Additionally, your ***** Account grants you access to exclusive bonuses and the ability to link accounts on various gaming platforms." The first of these benefits is the Kazuma Kiryu Special Outfit in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, which lets protagonist Goro Majima dress up as his friend, rival, and longtime Yakuza series lead. This is the same outfit ***** is giving away for signing up to email notifications, but it's unclear if that has now changed. Those with a ***** Account between January 22 and March 7 will receive the outfit, distributed via a code between February 17 and March 7. Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii itself arrives on February 21, brought forward from its original February 28 date to avoid a clash with Monster Hunter Wilds. ***** didn't announce what future benefits fans could expect, but it will presumably include its other flagship franchises such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Persona. It could also tie into a Game Pass style subscription service ***** is currently considering. As reported by the BBC, the company is currently "evaluating some opportunities" in the subscription service space and, just like PlayStation launched its Game Pass rival on the back of its established PlayStation Plus service, ***** could be setting the foundations for a similar move in the future. Fans are also speculating a connection with the impending ***** "Super Game," expected to release by the end of March 2026. While practically nothing is known about this project, ***** described it as a "large scale global title" that many fans are expecting to be an accumulation of various games akin to what Call of Duty has done with its titles or what Ubisoft is working on with Assassin's Creed Infinity: essentially a hub for myriad other games. After literal years of speculation and leaks, it was nice to get an actual glimpse of the Switch 2 hardware (and its increased size) last week. But even with the console officially "revealed," there's still a wide range of important unknown Switch 2 details that Nintendo has yet to address. As we wait for the company to dribble out additional information in the coming weeks and months, we thought we'd take a quick look at the biggest outstanding questions and concerns we still have about Nintendo's next gaming platform, along with some analysis of what we know, what we can guess, and what we expect on each score. Launch date? The teaser trailer's promise of a "2025" Switch 2 release technically covers any launch date between "tomorrow" and December 31. But we can probably narrow that window down a bit.
