  5. Painkiller, Bulletstorm, and Outriders studio People Can Fly will be co-developing Gears Of War: E-Day, the upcoming shooter in the long-running series of games about large men doing large violence at large bugs from behind medium walls. This is good news! People Can Fly have a pedigree for serving chunky gun chutney with a smile. They've also worked extensively on the series before, notably Judgement Day. E-Day itself is aiming to have a pronounced horror ******, with the 'Emergence Day' of the title referring to the insectoid Locust's first visit above ground. Read more View the full article

  7. Video pinball tends to fall into two types of game- Re-creation of existing tables and fantasy layouts that couldn't work in real life. Granted, that doesn't leave any room for more games like Flipnic, which feels like an odd omission, but with Pinball FX and ******'s/Xenotilt there's a decent supply of silverball action out there. Not quite as well known is Zaccaria Pinball, which started out as a re-creation of the tables of the European manufacturer but soon expanded into originals based on the themes of Zaccaria's original forty licenses. The retro tables have some great weird designs that focus on careful nudging and weird flipper placement, Remakes are a grab-bag of early 70s to mid-80s designs, and Deluxe is modern. It's a great selection of mostly realistic tables but everything had gone quiet for a couple years. View the full article

Reigns has been a huge focal point of WWE programming, and it feels fitting to have him be at the forefront. View the full article
  9. The many treasures of Honkai: Star Rail are hidden behind puzzles or enemies, with Golden Scapegoats found in Amphoreus being no exception. Solving the puzzles these objects present will reveal various treasures, such as important materials or valuable currency. View the full article
  10. Over the last 25 years of The Sims franchise, there have been many brilliant features that have made the game so popular. From the game's life and death cycle loop resulting in visits from the Grim Reaper, to other iconic characters like the Social Bunny paying lonely Sims a visit in the original The Sims game, there are many characters and unexpected visitors in the game that give it a sense of chaos. However, in the current core game for the franchise, The Sims 4, the gameplay has been a little lacking in those features that have made previous installments of the series so exciting. 11. Stationary abilities are used by several allies in Marvel Rivals, and they can deploy them in a limited range, which tends to have long cooldowns. This means it becomes your responsibility to stay inside or run to them. Otherwise, you’re actively wasting your team Strategist or Vanguard’s protection or damage boosts. In some cases, these abilities harm the enemy, making it viable to bait melee brawlers in and watch them suffer. View the full article
  12. There are a lot of things that are reasonable to fight against, from small beasts to natural disasters, but as a rule it's probably a good idea not to pick a fight with the sun. The best one can do is survive when it's angry, and even that's going to be an iffy proposition at best. Earth's sun is 93 million miles away and still manages to not only provide the energy for all life on the planet but also hold the entire solar system in its delicate orbit. It wouldn't take much for the sun to wipe out everything all at once, which, to be absolutely clear, will inevitably happen some day millions of years in the future. The sun is both the source of life and its end, so when exploring space it's important to only choose systems that have a stable one at the center. Or be like StarRupture and see how badly that goes. 13. Apparently, Godzilla's spawn rate has been nerfed to 60% in Fortnite Battle Royale matches. It's clear that this new Fortnite event is a popular one, since it seems to be getting consistent tweaks from the development team. Although many players want to have fun with the Godzilla crossover, it's just as important to make sure that the game offers balance. View the full article
  14. Sadly, it's time to stow away our public holiday / long weekend cheer. To make the (blessedly shorter) week that remains more tolerable, you'd best score some great bargains on escapism. Personally, I'd grab RoboCop: Rogue City for nearly half off, and FromSoftware's underbought Armoured Core VI for 40 clams is worth an impulse, too. In retro news, I'm celebrating a quarter of a century of Gran Turismo 2, two PS One discs that I played the absolute scratch 'n' sniff off of. (For real—rubbing the label of my launch edition CD-ROMs would cause an "authentic pit stop smell" of petrol and oil.) Aromarrific gimmicks aside, GT2 was brilliant for more practical reasons, like more cars (650) and more tracks (27 plus rallying). Also, due to this being the first GT to include real-life courses, this is the first time I fell in love[/hate] with Laguna Seca's corkscrew. God, I loved getting awkwardly, bizarrely airborne off it in the Suzuki V6 Escudo. 15. Poland-based game studio People Can Fly has been announced as the co-developer of the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day alongside The Coalition. In a press release People Can Fly says it is "honored to return to the world of Gears of War[.]" The studio previously served as the lead developer of Gears of War: Judgment after co-developing Gears of War 1-3. "Returning to collaborate on the next chapter of this ligendary saga is both a privilege and an exciting opportunity to build upon the intense, visceral action and rich storytelling that fans have come to love." Gears of War: E-Day was announced at last year's Xbox Showcase and is set to be a prequel to the original trilogy starring younger versions of characters like Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago. And yes, the original actors will be returning to reprise their roles. The game will cover the origins of the Locust invasion on Emergence Day. In a sit down with IGN, Brand Director Nicole Fawcette and Creative Director Matt Searcy said that the goal is to focus on the horror elements from the original trilogy. "What if the ground opened up and monsters came out? Yeah, it's set on a fictional, other planet, but there are very human reactions and stories we get to tell," Searcy tells IGN. "To do that, we need to be able to tell a story that feels like a horror story." People Can Fly was founded in 2002 and became known for games like Bullestorm and Painkiller. Epic Games acquired the studio in 2007, briefly renaming the studio Epic Games Poland, before the company spun off independently under its old name and logo. Gears of War: E-Day will be the studio's next major game after the launch of Outriders in 2021. Be sure to check out our op-ed on why Gears of War needs to rediscover its blockbuster levels of entertainment again with E-Day. Matt Kim is IGN's Senior Features Editor. View the full article
  16. Elden Ring frequently uses imagery and symbolism related to body parts, namely, fingers and eyes. From the unnerving presence of the Two Fingers within Roundtable Hold to the orange eye on the Fire Giant's chest, these out-of-place body parts can be seen in nearly every area of the game. There are obvious symbolic meanings for eyes and fingers in fiction related to vision, foresight, and power, but what do they mean in the context of Elden Ring? View the full article
  17. With Civilization 7's new ability to mix-and-match leaders and civs, and all the bonuses available from civics, wonders, and new features like leader attributes, there is a goofy amount of optimizing you can do.
