  1. Even though John Noble had been cast for Season 2 of Severance, we've yet to see his character as we reach the halfway point of the season. Well, sorta. Let's talk about who John Noble plays in Severance Season 2. Image via Apple TV+ Who is John Noble's character? In the Severance Season 1 finale we learn that Burt's outie is actually married. We only see a glimpse of his husband when Irving's innie approaches Burt's house and bangs on the door. In Season 2 Episode 5, Burt confronts Irving about what happened in the finale of Season 1, before informing him that his husband, Cecil Fields, was upset about the events that transpired. Despite the trouble caused, Burt invites Irving over to his house to have ham with him and his husband Fields. It looks as though the Fringe and Lord of the Rings actor will be taking over the role of Burt's husband Fields in Severance Season 2. We haven't seen him just yet, but it looks likely we will in Severance Season 2 Episode 6 which is titled Atilla. So was John Noble cast as Fields in Severance Season 1? Nope! Even though we got a glimpse of Fields at the end of Severance Season 1, it was very brief and was not played by John Noble. In Season 1, Fields was portrayed by Arthur Brooks, who also appeared in Independence Day, Beverly Hills 90210, Newhart, and more. Interestingly, if you look back at the Season 1 finale, Arthur Brooks as Fields actually looked like it could have been John Noble. As such, it's likely the deal for Noble to play as Fields in Season 2 was already done, but he was unavailable to film the brief scene in the finale which led to them picking someone who could look close enough that it wouldn't be a complete shock to the audience to see him again in Season 2. Based on Irving accepting the invitation from Burt to come over and join him and Fields for ham, we might be finally seeing John Noble in Severance Season 2 pretty soon! 2. Like all the dungeons in Destiny 2, Sundered Doctrine holds many secrets, including a few secret reward chests for those who know where to look. These hidden chests are commonplace in end-game D2 content, and any player who's raided or played a dungeon before knows to keep an eye out for puzzles, doorways, and other nooks and crannies that seem out of place. Often, a keen eye will see players rewarded with another loot drop, a special piece of lore regarding their location, or even a piece towards a new exotic catalyst. View the full article

  4. The charm of Stardew Valley comes not only from its peaceful farming lifestyle but also from the regular updates that have kept Pelican Town fresh and exciting over the years. The game's creator, ConcernedApe, is currently working on Haunted Chocolatier, but has a track record of surprising fans with big updates for Stardew Valley. A great example of this is the recent 1.6 update, which released last year. This pattern of unexpected updates makes the idea of a 1.7 update quite possible and exciting. View the full article
  5. Occults are various life states that Sims can take on in The Sims 2. They both give unique appearances and come with gameplay powers. Unlike other games in the series, Sims can have multiple occult features to create a hybrid. However, to visibly see this, a Sim needs to gain these features in specific orders. Additionally, a hybrid can be visually glitched if they attempt to simultaneously act like a Vampire and Werewolf at the exact same time. View the full article

  8. It's now 2025, and the absence of an imminent release for Ark 2 becomes increasingly worrisome. Announced in 2020, the follow-up to Ark: Survival Evolved (and its enhanced remake Survival Ascended) has been subjected to numerous delays, eventually slipping out of a planned 2023 launch window. The last official word on the subject promised a late 2024 window for the game, but as we ring in the second month of 2025, it's clear that Ark 2 has missed its deadline. View the full article
  9. Overwatch 2 fans might have spotted a teaser for hero 45 in the recent Spotlight event in the form of a cartoonish, sword-wielding knight in the background. While this could ultimately amount to nothing, some Overwatch 2 players wonder if the third hero of 2025 will be a sword-wielding melee character – and possibly even one of the gladiators of Colosseo. 10. Marvel Rivals dataminers think the developers are trolling them with lists of potential future characters hidden in the game's code. But NetEase and Marvel say they have better things to do...like actually make the game. Last month, dataminers began sharing names of potential future heroes hidden in the code of Marvel Rivals, a few of whom seemed to be confirmed pretty quickly as real when the Fantastic Four were officially announced. However, as the list of datamined heroes grew, a different rumor began to circulate in the community: some of the names were fake, planted there by developers to mislead dataminers. Even now, there's disagreement in the community as to which, if any of the datamined characters are really being seriously considered for the game. We recently had the opportunity to directly ask Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu and Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo if they're secretly performing an elaborate troll. And while it sounds like there are no pranks being pulled here, we should still take all the names being found in the code with a grain of salt. Here's what Wu had to say: "So firstly we want to say that we don't recommend anybody to make adjustments to the files [of the game]," he began. "Also, you can see that for each character's design actually we come through a very complicated process and we make a lot of concepts, trials, prototypes, development, et cetera. So there could be some information left in the code, and it might mean that we have tried those directions and they may appear or may not appear in our future plans. And whether or not they will appear in our future pipeline is highly depending on what kind of gameplay experience our players would expect in our game." Koo added, "If I could have a ten-year plan, it'd be great. But the team experimented with a lot of play styles, heroes. It was like there's someone doing scratch paperwork and then just left a notebook there, and someone [a dataminer] decided to open it with no context." I pushed a little, asking them point-blank if they were deliberately trolling people. Koo replied, "No. We would rather spend our time developing the actual game." In the same conversation, we also discussed how a character gets chosen to be added into Marvel Rivals in the first place. The two told me that the team plans updates roughly a year in advance, and is committed to keeping its current pace of adding new characters every month and a half. For each update, NetEase first looks at what type of character and skillset is needed to balance out the rest of the game and add variety to the roster, and come up with a list of several different possible additions. Wu told me that part of NetEase's strategy for achieving game balance is to focus less on aggressively tweaking existing characters to be perfectly fine-tuned, and more on adding new characters and experiences to keep things fresh, fill gaps, support characters that are a bit weak with new team abilities, or counter characters that might be a little too strong. Once they have a list of possibilities, NetEase then takes these suggestions to Marvel Games, and begin working on initial designs. From there, they look at what the community is currently excited about, as well as what's planned a year in advance in other Marvel divisions, such as if a big film or comic arc is coming that they can tie a character in with. That helps them come to a final decision on who's going in. All this explains why there might be a lot of different heroes listed in the code - NetEase just has a lot of ideas it's tossing around all the time. Marvel Rivals was great at launch, and each new character only seems to make it more powerful, with the Human Torch and The Thing set to be the latest heroes joining the game on February 21. We also spoke to Wu and Koo about the possibility of a Nintendo Switch 2 release for Marvel Rivals, which you can read about here. Rebekah Valentine is a senior reporter for IGN. 11. Though Marvel Rivals is still a relatively new game, players are already dreaming of big additions. Recently, rumors have spread of a potential PvE boss fight, leading some to speculate that a PvE mode is right around the corner. Unfortunately, NetEase recently clarified that it doesn't have plans for such a mode...yet. We spoke to Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas this week, and asked him about any plans for a PvE mode. This was his response: "For now we don't have any kind of a PvE plan, but our development team is continuously experimenting with new game play modes. So if we found that a new specific game mode is entertaining enough, fun enough, we would of course bring it to our audience." After he said this, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo hopped in to ask if I wanted a PvE mode in Marvel Rivals, and I told him I did. Wu continued: "Yeah, we believe there are some of our audience that would like the PvE mode. But also, you can see that if we come up with a hardcore PvE experience, that will be totally a different distinctive experience from what we have right now. So our development team has been continuously experimenting with different approaches to achieve that goal, maybe a lighter mode, in a lighter sense of that, and to see what would work best for our game." So for now, it sounds like there are no concrete plans for PvE, but Wu does seem to be suggesting that NetEase is playing around with ideas for a "lighter" game mode of some kind, perhaps like a one-off event or something similar. For now, NetEase isn't saying much more. Marvel Rivals is still being updated every month and a half with new characters, with the Human Torch and The Thing set to be the latest heroes joining the game on February 21. We also spoke to Wu and Koo about the possibility of a Nintendo Switch 2 release for Marvel Rivals, which you can read about here, and we also confronted them about whether or not they were trolling dataminers with fake hero "leaks" in the code. 12. I am very excited for Assassin's Creed Shadows, perhaps more than I have been for any previous AC game. There are two main reasons for that, the first of which is its setting. Like many others, the prospect of Assassin's Creed in Japan has always intrigued me, not least because of its potential when it comes to enigmatic and thrilling historical figures, political intrigue, and all manner of backstabbing. As someone who liked, but never loved, Ghost of Tsushima, I still feel like there is untapped potential when it comes to doing Assassin's Creed in Japan well. View the full article
  13. While Half-Life often steals the show and sits fondly in more players' memories, let's not forget that fellow sci-fi FPS series System Shock was just as brilliant and revolutionary. The original game recently got a full remake decades on from when it first opened the FPS genre up to levels of freedom previously unseen. System Shock 2 was equally excellent, and a remaster (rather than a full remake) has been in the works for a while now. Well, that wait may soon be coming to an end. While I sadly don't have a release date to share with you right now, what I can say is that developer Nightdive will be revealing it next month during GDC. Read the rest of the story... As you spend more time in Dawnshore during your playthrough of Avowed, there are multiple quests and tasks for you to complete to earn extra coin and expand your reputation—a great way to do this by completing any of the bounties posted on the city’s board. You can pick up several bounties before you set out to explore the region surrounding Paradis, and each comes with a reward. Some are more difficult than others, and you’ll want to exercise caution when attempting to see these tasks through. Still, the rewards are worth it, and we can make it easier to round these all up to pick up new gear to level up at your camp. 18. The widely popular hero shooter Marvel Rivals is seeing massive success on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. But its developer NetEase has been firm that it's not coming to Nintendo Switch, leaving Nintendo players out of luck on joining in the fun. But what about the Nintendo Switch 2? We had the opportunity to pose this question to Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu this past week at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas. And fortunately for Switch fans, it sounds like a Switch 2 release is a real possibility. As Wu put it: "We're already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits. And whenever we find that we could provide great performance for our game on Switch 2, we're open to that. The reason why we didn't launch it onto the Switch, it was the first generation of that device they cannot provide a great experience for our gameplay. So if it could achieve that goal, we're open to that." The Nintendo Switch 2 was finally officially announced just last month. While we don't have too many details on its capabilities just yet, it appears to be a ******* and more powerful Nintendo Switch system. Notably, it looks like the console will have some sort of mouse-like controller functionality that could potentially make playing shooters like Marvel Rivals a bit more PC-like, though it still remains to be seen exactly how this will work. The Nintendo Switch 2 doesn't have a release date currently, but a Nintendo Direct has been confirmed for April 2. Marvel Rivals, meanwhile, is out now on other platforms, and we like it a lot. In our 8/10 review, we said that it "may be following closely in the slipstream of the hero shooters that have come before it, but by doing so Marvel Rivals has firmly placed itself in a strong position to take the crown for itself." The Human Torch and The Thing are set to be the latest heroes joining the game on February 21. Rebekah Valentine is a senior reporter for IGN. 21. Generally, when a gaming franchise gets a new entry, players will flock to the shiny, new title rather than hang back and continue playing the old ones. However, this is not always the case, especially when the “old” title in question is Grand Theft Auto Online. GTA Online has been around for over 10 years, and it’s been receiving updates and constant attention the entire time. It’s got a loyal player base, and those players are more than willing to continue paying for new content. With that, it’s no wonder that those players who still invest time and money into the game want to know what’s going to happen after GTA 6 launches. View the full article
  22. ADC players in League of Legends aren’t having the best time with their lane, and it’s because of “fundamental problems” that Riot is still trying to fix to help everyone enjoy the game equally. League has five main roles, and each comes with unique upsides and downsides, but ADCs seem to be getting the short end of the stick right now. Following a survey by Riot to players about whether they’re enjoying their role playing the game, game designer David “Phreak” Turley confirmed that ADCs achieved a “neutral rating compared to other roles’ positive rating,” making it “one of the worst polling roles in terms of to fun-to-play” positions in the title.
