  1. I generally avoid using the word 'darling' as an adjective because it makes you sound like an bourgeois playwright two bottles of sherry deep into a nervous breakdown. Lord Of The Rings tainted the word 'precious' forever, and the term 'wholesome' has been Cronenberged to hideous effect. 'Cute' is too pat, I use 'adorable' too much, and you cannot make me say 'Kawaii' under any circumstances. All that said, management sim Mudborne makes my eyes go wide and my heart swell like a marshmallow dropped in a pond full of excellent frogs. It's releasing March 20th on World Frog Day, and a portion of the profits will go to amphibian, wetland, and environmental charities. Have a Steam demo. God I love that soundtrack. 2. Avowed has plenty to learn and adjust to in your adventure throughout the Living Lands, with elemental effects proving to be both a thorn in your side and an effective tool in battle. Elemental effects in Avowed are dealt by both the player and enemies, providing a range of impacts as a result. Without being treated, these can swiftly end any battle, and it’s always worth being prepared—especially when you know what sort of elemental effects the enemy will deal. 4. The game director of Overwatch 2 says areas of the game haven’t evolved quickly enough, and that the popularity of newcomer Marvel Rivals puts pressure on his team to improve things. In an interview with GamesRadar, Aaron Keller was asked if the team felt pressure now that Marvel Rivals has been out for two months and appears to be a success. Keller conceded that the Overwatch 2 team did feel some pressure to deliver due to the arrival of new competition, but noted that it had already been identifying areas where the game was lacking and putting in work to resolve it. 5. The first weekend of the reworked Trials of Osiris is live in Destiny 2, and it might be the best thing to happen to this mode. From more varied matchups to tons of loot that make the game feel like a true looter-shooter, there’s now a reason for everyone to play Trials. On Feb. 14, the first weekend of Trials of Osiris in Destiny 2 Episode Heresy kicked off, bringing the changes Bungie detailed a couple of weeks back. As long as you get seven wins on the Passage (regardless of losses), you can go to the Lighthouse and earn rewards, including Adept weapons. The rewards scale with the win streaks, but even at your worst, there’s still plenty of loot waiting for you. View the full article
  6. Actor-turned-Twitch streamer Will Neff said significant changes must be made in OTK to make it a better organization—hinting he might leave if there are no improvements. In a now-deleted Feb. 16 stream, Will Neff addressed the constant drama surrounding OTK (One True King), the streaming org he joined in February 2023. The California-based streamer was still visibly upset over the massive layoffs by the org just a week before Christmas last year due to budget cuts. Several sponsors have distanced themselves from the org over the previous few years, with the few left also moving away just a few weeks after Asmongold’s (a founding member of OTK) controversial remarks about Palestinians. 8. It's not an opinion, but a fact that Pokémon cards can go for a lot of money. Shadowless Charizard is a classic card that typically pops up and sells for megabucks, while even modern hits like Umbreon VMAX Alt Art are hitting $2,000. Even among that company, the Pokémon Trainer No. 3 Pikachu is a super rare, high value card any moneybags investor would salivate over - but seeing a copy go up for ***** on eBay recently, at a list price of $2 million, made me ***** out my coffee. 9. Ubisoft has teased a significant evolution of Rainbow Six Siege, promising to unveil what it calls Siege X in March. Siege X is described as “the biggest transformation in the game's history, including new tactical gameplay, graphical and audio upgrades, and more.” This is not Rainbow Six Siege 2, rather a significant change for Rainbow Six Siege designed to set the competitive multiplayer game for its second decade of live service. A major evolution is coming. Watch the R6 Siege X Showcase live - March 13th. Live Stream Attend in Atlanta [Hidden Content] — Rainbow Six Siege (@Rainbow6Game) February 16, 2025 Rainbow Six Siege struggled when it launched in December 2015, but Ubisoft’s work to improve the game is seen as one of the most dramatic turnarounds in video game history alongside Final Fantasy 14 and No Man’s Sky. In the last decade, Rainbow Six Siege has proven a reliable money-spinner even when Ubisoft’s other attempts at live service have fallen by the wayside. In recent years, when Ubisoft has found the going particularly tough, Rainbow Six Siege has helped prop up those financial reports. Now, there's even more pressure on Siege X, given Ubisoft's high-profile troubles. 10 years is a long time for any video game to remain relevant and financially stable, and so it makes sense that Ubisoft would want to refresh Rainbow Six Siege with a headline-grabbing evolution. Ubisoft will announce more on March 13 at the Siege X Showcase. Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. 15. Avowed offers plenty of difficult decisions, and one that can seem overwhelming is the choice to accept or reject Sapadal's power. As players step into the role of a Godlike, they'll have to search for the balance between triggering the consequences of choices and unlocking new powers that help them reach their true potential. The difficult part is knowing which actions result in new powers and which ones should be avoided due to possible downsides. View the full article

  17. One of my favorite times to play video games is a new FromSoftware release during launch week, and I don't expect Elden Ring Nightreign to disappoint. The co-op action game is a significant departure from its predecessor, but the dedicated community that has convened around FromSoft's work is what really makes a new game from the studio special. There aren't any other games that match the same feeling of communal discovery, with the cobbled-together messages left on the ground, idiosyncratic multiplayer systems, early lore revelations, and, of course, players collectively ******** their heads against skill-check bosses like Margit, the Fell Omen. 18. Welcome back to a week stacked with must-have titles at prices more unbeatable than a FromSoftware game modded to be Ultra-Nightmare. As for standout gems, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes could slash its way into your library/heart at 44% off. Otherwise, Persona 5 Royal will let you live your best (or most rebellious) life, with extra content that wasn't in the original (read: an entire semester’s worth of gameplay). If those two somehow aren’t for you, start scrolling to get lost in the savings… This Day in Gaming In retro news and with some serious overkill, I’m using a lightsaber to light 19 candles for Star Wars: Empire at War. This bad boy is an all-timer RTS and one of the best Star Wars tie-ins one could get in a sea of ordinary to bad ones. I remember being held in a Force Choke-esque thrall by its dual-layer strategy system: a galactic map for turn-based empire management and real-time battles on both land and in space. It translated into planet conquering, fleet building, and grand-scale warfare unlike any far, far away game at the time. But mostly, I was tickled by the iconic hero units it offered and cool Easter eggs hidden. For the former, who wouldn’t dig hewing through rebels as an unstoppable Vader, like his horror visage in Rogue One? And I loved making a battle drag on too long to ensure an escaping Millennium Falcon would spawn. Aussie bdays for notable games - Star Wars: Empire at War (PC) 2006. 21. Avowed is just the latest RPG from acclaimed developer Obsidian Entertainment, but it takes some inspiration from a game that's often overlooked in the studio's oeuvre. Most comparisons will be drawn between Avowed and The Outer Worlds, Obsidian's 2019 sci-fi RPG. Such comparisons aren't misplaced, and in many ways, Avowed is a direct descendant of design principles laid down by The Outer Worlds, and it won't be surprising if The Outer Worlds 2's release later in 2025 builds on Avowed in a similar way. 22. Avowedoffers players a lot of hard choices, and the main story quest “Shadows of the Past” is a good example. During the quest, the players undergo several trials to make their way through the ruins of Naku Kubel and speak with Sadapal through an Adra Pillar inside the ruins. At the conclusion of the quest, players will be asked to choose between two ways to deal with the ruins and the Dreamthralls inside: have Archmage Ryngrim cut off the region's adra network from the Living Lands, or have Inquisitor Lödwyn destroy the ruins. 23. Avowed may not offer a plethora of choices when it comes to classes, but your hand is certainly not limited. In fact, I really like the class system and how it operates, and Obsidian has used a similar setup in their other titles. You can pick between Fighter, Ranger, and Wizard, and all of them have their unique playstyles (including abilities). Naturally, every class has its strengths and weaknesses, so let's take a look at how the classes rank compared to each other. Avowed Class tier list I have used two tiers to classify the three available classes. The S-tier represents the very best class you can currently avail in Avowed, while the A-tier classes are marginally off the top. An A-tier class is still good, and they're still strong and worthy of your consideration if you want to use them. S-tier classes in Avowed The Fighter class is the only S-tier entrant in Avowed, and the choice might confuse you. At first glance, this class and its abilities will appear to be extremely simple. However, the Fighter class is ideal for beginners and veterans alike, and its abilities pack a mighty punch. I love the Fighter class due to how easy it is to use the abilities. At Level 1, you have Constant Recovery and Toughness, which makes the early game easier to deal with. Abilities like Devastating Criticals and Brawn can be unlocked at Level 5. With the Fighter class, you'll be very hard to kill on one hand and yield great offensive potential on the other. If you want a bear of your own, you can summon that at Level 15. Image via Xbox Game Studios A-tier classes in Avowed In the A-tier, you get to pick between the Wizard and Ranger. I personally loved the Wizard class more in between them, and it's the best offensive class you can enjoy. However, the biggest difficulty of this class is its defense. Unlike Fighter, Wizard doesn't have a natural means of defense, so you'll have to rely heavily on your dodges. That said, its offensive abilities make up for a weak defense, and the Wizard class offers the highest number of choices when it comes to picking damage types. The Ranger, on the other hand, is a more traditional option. Screenshot by Destructoid The Ranger class is easily the hardest one to master, as the amount of damage you can deal depends entirely on your ability to land skill shots. To do so, you'll want to use the Steady Aim ability at Level 1 and Marksmanship at Level 5. Together, these two abilities will make it easier for you to aim and do more damage from a longer distance. Interestingly, certain abilities also improve your efficiency and damage potential with melee weapons. I strongly believe that it's best to take a hybrid approach if you're opting for the Archer class. Ultimately, you'll want to get the best possible builds to make the most of your selected classes in Avowed. The post Avowed Class Tier List: Best Classes, Ranked appeared first on Destructoid. 24. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is unlike any other RPG out there. It offers an unparalleled immersive open-world steeped in historical realism and deep RPG mechanics with meaningful consequences. As such, it can be quite hard to find something that quite fits the bill to scratch the itch it leaves after its final credits roll. Fortunately, while there isn't anything exactly like KC:D2 - and likely won't be for quite some time - there are a lot of games that either share specific elements or give a similar experience. 25. Ubisoft has had a challenging year with the cancelation of multiple games and the multiple delays to one of its flagship titles, Assassin's Creed Shadows. However, there's a chance that it could all turn around now that Shadows' release date has been locked in for March 2025. Importantly, these delays and challenges have led to a hopefully improved Ubisoft, one that listens to fans, and that is evidenced by Assassin's Creed Shadows' first major piece of DLC.
