Normally when you're playing an FPS game, the choice to pull the trigger and initiate combat isn't a choice at all. Half-Life. Doom Eternal. You're waiting for the chance to use your guns - it's all about wading into the crossfire. Dagger Directive is completely different. Visually, it's reminiscent of shooters from the early '00s or even the '90s. Mechanically, its inspirations are similarly vintage, the elder Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six games, and milsim series including Arma and Operation Flashpoint. What's the longest you've ever waited for a game? The problem with videogames is that they pretty much always take much longer than you'd expect, and as budgets have increased and as time has gone on, that's only gotten truer and truer. Skyrim came out way back in 2011, but almost 14 years later there's still no Elder Scrolls 6, and it'll be a decade since Fallout 4 came out later this year, too. But a studio like Bethesda is guaranteed to release those follow-ups - when you're waiting almost ten years for a game like Lost Soul Aside, an original, debut IP which was first announced in 2016, things are a bit more uncertain. Gamers have a new route to getting hold of an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 or RTX 5080, thanks to the GPU maker itself. In an effort to beat scalpers, Nvidia has just relaunched its Verified Priority Access program for active Nvidia account holders, inviting users to buy a new graphics card from the company directly. However, only a "limited" number will be able to buy a new RTX 50-series card this way, with the scheme also limited to just one country. Nvidia launched a similar program back during the early days of the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080, when the launch of those GPUs was also affected by stock availability issues. While the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are now the best graphics cards you can buy, not enough gamers have been able to get their hands on one, with extremely limited stock levels since launch day. Human Torch will debut in Marvel Rivals on Feb. 21 alongside his Fantastic Four buddy, The Thing. Johnny will have a unique ultimate team-up with Storm, but players came up with another (better) team-up idea for the X-Men member. Johnny’s ultimate will turn his fireballs into small tornadoes that will inflict AoE damage around a specified area for a short time. If Storm uses her ultimate simultaneously, she can enter those tornadoes and turn her hurricane into a Firestorm. But players have a better idea: Sharknado. View the full article

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will see several updates throughout the year, but not all of them will be available to every player. Releasing on February 4, 2025, this sequel to the original, historical RPG attempts to build on Henry's legacy in every conceivable way. Although half-way through Season 1, NetEase is making some big changes to Marvel Rivals, adding the rest of The Fantastic Four, with The Human Torch and The Thing joining the roster, while giving players a vampiric version of Central Park. This seems like it will be the formula for the title moving forward, with the beginning and mid-point of each season being where NetEase will make changes to the game. Shortly after laying off a US-based team of developers, Marvel Rivals confirmed that it has reached over 40 million players since its launch on December 6, 2024. Season 1: Eternal Night falls has been a big hit for Marvel Rivals, as it managed to set a new record for concurrent players during its launch weekend and brought many new players into the game. The first few leaks about Honkai: Star Rail’s collaboration with the Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works anime series have started to emerge and they already seem somewhat strange – but I have a theory as to why they may be like that and what that could mean for the highly anticipated event coming later this year. The collab between both franchises was announced during the Version 2.4 livestream, which occurred back in July 2024.
