Riot released the official formats for the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational and the League of Legends World Championship to prepare fans for what’s to come over the next few months. But there’s one glaring absentee from the tournament formats: Fearless Draft, with Riot evidently doubling down on the decision only to have Split 1 feature the format. Although some came into the year with cautious optimism about Fearless Draft, fans were quickly on board once they saw the system work, especially in the best-of-fives where 50 champions were put on the chopping block. “If they don’t implement this for the rest of the year and every year – they are hugely missing out,” one fan said in a Reddit thread on Fearless Draft. This isn't the first time that I've said it and I doubt it will be the last: Solium Infernum is the single greatest 4X game on PC right now. While Civilization 7, Stellaris, and Endless Space all provide variations on the genre's traditions, and each experiments with and tries to perfect the formula, Solium Infernum turns the entire concept of 4X upside down. You don't have many military units. You don't make that many choices. You don't build anything. A strategy game set in Hell, Solium isn't about expansion and creating an empire. But everything you do matters. Everything has resonance. And now, a year since it first launched, Solium Infernum has just gotten a huge update. Read the rest of the story... Until Dawn Remake players are still sharing bug reports with *** developer Ballistic Moon, but there's apparently no one left to respond. “The studio has effectively closed now," one anonymous source told Insider Gaming. An undisclosed number of layoffs were publicly announced last September, shortly before the Until Dawn remake's launch in October. According to IG's source, these amounted to "roughly 40 employees". "Around 20" developers were allegedly kept on for post-launch support until they themselves were laid off last December, leaving a handful of employees "at most" alongside studio founders. "There are no employees in public relations, marketing, or development left." Read more View the full article

After delivering three solid wrestling games in a row, the spectre of the atrocious WWE 2K20 is fast becoming a distant memory for 2K Sports, now that it’s made it to WWE 2K25. With its previous three games, developer Visual Concepts won a metaphorical Buried Alive match against its 2K20 offering and has since laid a foundation that ensures that as long as it doesn’t mess around with things too much, the actual gameplay in the ring will always be excellent. That hasn’t changed this year, with WWE 2K25 delivering another solid grapple ’em up. What has changed is the suite of modes and match types available to the player. While most of the new additions are welcome, it’s the game’s major new experience, The Island, that will prove most controversial (but thankfully avoidable). Read More... View the full article
WWE 2K25 is out next week (or this week, if you buy the Deadman or Bloodline Editions), and it’s another great entry in 2K’s long-running wrestling series. Given that the WWE 2K series are annual releases, the development team at Visual Concepts needs to prioritise what has to be changed each year, and what has to stay the same. One of the elements most affected by this is superstar likenesses. The game’s roster now totals more than 300 wrestlers, and not all of them changed their appearance in the last year (especially those who retired or are dead). Read More... View the full article

Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe’s award-winning Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga inspired one of the best anime series of recent years. A second season was swiftly announced, but we’ll have to wait until January 2026 to see how Frieren’s journey continues. The first season ran for 28 episodes between September 2023 and March 2024, gaining plenty of admirers during its broadcast. While we have a 10-month gap between now and the season 2 premiere, a new teaser visual arrived along with the news to help us relax a little. Image via official Twitter/X account For those who haven’t watched, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a very RPG-fan-friendly series that elegantly depicts life after the grand adventure ends and captures the feeling of a character who outlives everyone around her. Frieren is an elven mage who was a former member of the celebrated party that took down the ****** King and restored peace to the land. Flash forward 50 years and not much has changed for Frieren, but some of those companions have since passed and a new journey begins to unfold. Yamada and Abe’s manga has been serialized in the pages of Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine since April 2020. 2021 saw it win the 14th Manga Taisho award, as well as the 25th annual Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize’s award for new creators. Other accolades followed, and the anime adaptation made quite a few year-end lists, including our own! January 2026 may seem like a far-flung date at this point, but the wait should be worth it. Anime studio MADHOUSE, director Keiichiro Sato (BOCCHI THE ROCK!) and series composition writer Tomohiro Suzuki (One-Punch Man) conjured some magic the first time around. Let ‘em cook and we’ll see Frieren again on the other side of the calendar. The post Frieren season 2 won’t be here until January 2026 appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article
Extraction RPG Dark and Darker has been delisted from the Epic Games Store, with developer Ironmace citing claims made during ongoing legal disputes as the cause. It was previously made unavailable on storefronts including Steam following legal proceedings with Nexon Games around alleged copyright infringement. It eventually returned to Steam alongside the Epic Games Store in mid-2024, but has now been pulled from the latter. Read the rest of the story... Commemoration has been the top Void machine gun in Destiny 2 for a long time. Corrective Measure is an Aggressive Frame 600 RPM Void machine gun from the Vault of Glass raid. While it has a ton of Void-related perks, like Destabilizing Rounds and Demoralize, it doesn’t have a passive reload perk, so there’s still a reason to keep Commemoration around.
