It's pretty hard to set any Baldur's Gate 3record. With millions of passionate fans, there's always someone out there who's played more, crafted a more intense cosplay, or whispered more sweet nothings to Astarion. Someone has to take the crown in every category, though, and one fan just set the record as the most intense acolyte of the game's soundtrack. View the full article
Path of Exile 0.4.0 has been revealed in great detail, with GGG particularly showcasing the upcoming Druid class and the new league, Fate of the Vaal. And I have to say I've never been more excited for ARPG content than I am now. The Druid class is a complex, meta-gameplay-oriented class that has three animal forms alongside a human spellcaster form, allowing players to branch out in any direction they wish, including hybridizing the Druid's inner beasts or tying into the many other classes in the game. It can turn into a giant bear, a swift and lethal wolf, or a fire-breathing wyvern, each carrying its own set of abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Everything the player does as a beast interacts and ties into what they do as the human form, and the spells you cast tend to synergize heavily with your attacks and abilities in animal form. The Druid is peak gameplay, and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Image via GGG This level of interactivity, hybridizing, and synergy between the Druid, his shapes, and even other spells and classes is unprecedented in ARPGs, signaling the birth of the most complex class in the genre's history. Though it's yet to come out on the 12th, I can hardly wait to see how it works in practice, as what we've been shown in the trailer has hooked me on PoE2 for the foreseeable future. But it wasn't the only thing shown. We also got insight into the Fate of the Vaal league that comes out alongside patch 0.4.0 and the Druid class. Like other leagues, it fundamentally alters how each map plays, with new content, loot, and story elements. But what's most interesting about the whole league is the new Vaal Temple mechanic that is unlocked through certain quests in the overworld. The temple lets you make your own levels, combining, upgrading, and customizing it as you see fit. Image via GGG Once accessed, the temple, once housing the Queen of the Vaal herself, Atziri, is a new map to explore that changes every time you visit it. However, it is you who influences these changes, adding new rooms, connecting them with other nodes to buff the loot inside, and expanding the level as you see fit. Every time you clear the rooms, two will be randomly discarded. Each time you visit the temple, you can add six new rooms for that run, essentially creating your own playground. Eventually, you will have reached Atziri, getting the chance to fight her and gain access to tremendous items and loot. Speaking of loot, you'll be met with a dozen opportunities to create new and unique corrupted items, or risk losing it all in one of the many strange devices within the temple. This create-your-own-fun approach is the best thing that I've ever seen in an ARPG, and it should add a ton of replayability to the league. I certainly hope a lot is learned from this mechanic and it makes its way into other games, as well as into other PoE2 leagues, at least in essence. A lot of great stuff is coming in patch 0.4.0 alongside these groundbreaking changes. Performance improvements, tweaks to mapping, hundreds of passives and skills, and a whole lot more are on their way on Dec. 12. Path of Exile 2 is getting its new class, the Druid, which is probably the most anticipated class of the game's entire early access *******. It's capable of hybridizing all the other classes into one single unit of absolute power, so it's no wonder that so many want to get their hands on it. But that sheer potential of the class raises some concerns. In a media briefing I attended, I saw the Druid class in full action. It can turn into various beasts, like the wolf, the bear, and the wyvern, and make liberal use of other classes' abilities via a new item called meta gems. In essence, the Druid is a class of limitless potential, with which no two players will have the same experience. And this is great if you're a seasoned player looking to utilize the Druid's versatility and turn it into the most powerful class in the game. The Druid can turn into one of three beasts. Image via GGG But casual players could find the thing daunting, what with all these variables in the equation that seem impossible to solve. So I asked Jonathan Rogers, PoE2's game director, about it. I inquired if and how GGG optimized the class to make it appealing to newcomers and veterans alike, considering how complex and versatile the Druid is. "You don't necessarily have to think too hard about combining the different abilities from the different forms if you don't want to," Rogers said. "If you want to just be like 'I'm gonna be a wolf and just gonna do wolf things,' then you've got a very viable strategy there." "We made sure that each of the animal forms can still feel simple like that. So if you want to take a simple approach, you absolutely can, there's no problem with that," he concluded. Rogers also said that things will appear while playing the Druid that'll "tempt you" into branching out into these limitless possibilities, but that it's your prerogative whether or not you wish to give in to these temptations. The Druid is the most exciting class in any ARPG I've ever seen, and I can't wait to see how it plays once it comes out on Dec. 12. The Astra Malorum map is now live in ****** Ops 7 Zombies, and there are three Mister Peeks headphones to be discovered. Finding the headphones will reveal a secret track. The headphones work in the same fashion as they did in Ashes of the Damned. So far, I have figured out the first two, but more will be added to this guide as we discover their locations. Table of contents****** Ops 7 Zombies Astra Malorum Music Easter Egg solutionLocation 1Location 2Location 3****** Ops 7 Zombies Astra Malorum Music Easter Egg solution The Mister Peeks Headphones can be found in any order. Of course, the order mentioned here will be convenient and save you time. Location 1 I found the first one in the Luminarium, near the exit door. When you reach the door, you'll find a shelf to the left. The headphone is located on the bottom shelf. To find it, you'll actually need to crouch (if you're standing and looking in front, chances are that you'll miss the headphones). Screenshot by Destructoid I have also marked the location of the shelf to make it easier for you to get to the correct spot. There are a bunch of zombies that spawn in this location, so be careful of those. Screenshot and remix by Destructoid Location 2 I found the second Mister Peeks headphones in a display case in Machina Astralis. There are plenty of display cabinets at the location. However, what you're looking for essentially is a display case made with glass. If you enter from the main door (from Scholar's Way), the case will be to your immediate right. Screenshot by Destructoid The headphone is inside the case. I didn't attempt to break the case, so it's something you can try. Location 3 A third Mister Peeks headphone is also located in Astra Malorum, but I haven't managed to find it at the time of writing. Romeo is a Dead Man, the new surrealist action game by the legendary Suda51, seems to be coming sooner than we thought. According to a new leak, which appears to have been an accident at the PlayStation store, revealed the game's release date as Feb. 11, 2026. This is about three months away as of this article, and implies we'll get some new footage of the game to confirm the release date at the upcoming 2025 Game Awards event, which is scheduled for Dec. 11. From what we've seen of the game so far, Romeo is a Dead Man is as bats**t crazy as they come, combining countless visual styles and genres into one cohesive pile of action-packed carnage. It appears to be a direct upgrade over Suda51's previous work, which includes legendary action titles such as Lollipop Chainsaw and Killer7. He is best known for these wild, cerebral action experiences, and Romeo is a Dead Man might be his most outlandish work yet. [Hidden Content] As with his previous works, it's been inspired by pop culture and other media, which he himself told us this summer during an interview at Gamescom. Of all the things that could've had an impact on the game, Suda51 cited Rick and Morty as a major inspiration, particularly due to how character relationships function in the game (the main character and his grandfather are protagonists, which should be a familiar formula to all who've seen Rick and Morty). I'm super excited to see the game in action (pun intended) once it does come out, and it appears we won't have to wait much longer. Gaming PR companies are getting good at grabbing my attention, because my eyes were immediately drawn to this outrageous description in my inbox this morning: "Fire Emblem meets PaRappa the Rapper." What in the...? The newest title from Mopeful Games and indie publisher Team17, Wardrum, is worth checking out for that description by itself. And I'm glad I clicked, because it looks like it may actually be up my alley, and the uniqueness of it will likely garner attention from gamers everywhere, too. [Hidden Content] The idea of these two kinds of games coming together sounded so silly, but as you can see in the gameplay trailer above, it sure seems to work. And it's a roguelite, which means replayability will be ready to go on day one. "Wardrum sees you set in a harsh and unforgiving fantasy landscape you plan and execute your tactics in time with the primal pounding of a tribal wardrum for maximum impact," the press release said. "Off-beat magic has infected the lands, neighboring settlements have fallen and it’s up to you and a band of five warriors to keep the beat. Venture out into a harsh fantasy world filled with rhythm magic and stop the source of this off-beat threat once and for all." The release says Wardrum sports "deep tactical turn-based combat," which I'm also all for, and I think that the rhythm-based gameplay has some potential for good fun as well. Does anyone else use their whole body to stay in time with the beat in games like this? I hope it's not just me, and I'm willing to be that is not the case. You gotta feel it with every ounce of your being. Anyway, Wardrum is available now to be wishlisted on Steam, and it'll be yet another that I will keep an eye on as we head into 2026, which is already looking to be filled with more wonderful indies like this one. Destiny has always been the “we’ve got Star Wars at home” looter shooter, and with Destiny 2: Renegades, Bungie has decided to lean into that directly with a crossover expansion. Weirdly enough, so far that decision seems to have kinda worked out alright! Renegades doesn’t solve many of Destiny 2’s longstanding issues, including the fact that it’s been awkwardly spinning its wheels for over a year now (reminiscent of the MCU post-Endgame), but embracing the cheesiness and over-the-top drama of Star Wars is at the very least a surprisingly nice change of pace in what has become quite a predictable universe. The story is silly, to be sure, but introduces a few new mechanics and weapon types that are a welcome change, and there’s an impressive level of enemy density throughout practically all of the activities that keeps the action interesting. I’ve still got a lot more questing and looting to do before my final review, but so far this expansion has been a pretty compelling breath of fresh air in a game I’ve otherwise been far less excited about than usual. If you’ve read any of my previous expansion reviews (of which there are a lot), then you’ll already know I am one those weirdo Destiny fans who has stuck with this game through thick and thin – so it should mean something when I tell you that saying I am also a Star Wars fan would be such a massive understatement that I’m actually too embarrassed to elaborate further publicly. But even with my undying love of space wizards, I was initially mortified to learn Destiny 2 was planning a crossover with it. For me, it was the ultimate sign that Destiny was out of ideas, had gone “full Fortnite” in a way that seemed cheap and tacky, and was making one last desperation play during the slow death it’s been suffering for a number of years now. And, yeah, that all pretty much turned out to be true. But when I found myself watching two lightsaber-wielding foes square off in an epic cutscene while listening to the John Williams-esque music this expansion makes heavy use of, I’ll admit it won me over… at least a little. Renegades does go out of its way to include every little Star Wars reference to a degree that can feel a bit forced – a crutch that’s continuously leaned upon in lieu of any original ideas. For example, you find yourself trapped in a garbage compactor during the very first mission, rescue someone from off-brand carbon freezing, and make a jump to lightspeed while a brooding, masked villain angrily watches you escape his grasp. It’s extremely on the nose stuff, and I was just as likely to experience a full-body cringe as I was to smile about it. But the complete “****** it” energy at play here as it full-throatedly embraces all the corniness and drama for which Star Wars is known does have a certain kind of refreshing charm that’s at least a distinct direction for Destiny 2. I’ve been complaining about this game feeling stale for at least five years now, so I’ve got to give Bungie a bit of credit for trying something new here. There are also a fair number of new mechanics that I wasn’t expecting, like a shielding system for certain enemies that forces you to deal a whole bunch of damage in a short span of time before you can actually hurt them, AT-ST-inspired walkers that have some unique attacks I wasn’t expecting, and even some new weapon types, like battery-powered guns that can be fired until they overheat and need to cool down. None of this is massively game-changing stuff, but they’re decent little tweaks to the sandbox that are welcome additions. Of course, there’s also a ton of stuff that hasn’t changed at all, and even while you’re facing off against a new kind of enemy in theory, you’ll still be fighting the same Cabal armored warriors and bony Thrall monstrosities you’ve been shooting for over a decade, which has made this feel like a cheap reskin at times. I’m still fairly early into my space opera journey (I haven’t even crafted my lightsaber yet!), so I have a whole lot more to play before I can definitively say where Renegades lands. But so far this expansion seems much better than I expected… though that’s partially because I expected very little. I’ll have much more to say once I’ve completed the campaign and begin to dive into the endgame activities. For Light and Life! View the full article

When Valve announced its upcoming Steam Machine hardware last month, some eagle-eyed gamers may have been surprised to see that the official spec sheet lists support for HDMI 2.0 output, rather than the updated, higher-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 standard introduced in 2017. Now, Valve tells Ars that, while the hardware itself actually supports HDMI 2.1, the company is struggling to offer full support for that standard due to Linux drivers that are “still a work-in-progress on the software side.” As we noted last year, the HDMI Forum (which manages the official specifications for HDMI standards) has officially blocked any open source implementation of HDMI 2.1. That means the open source AMD drivers used by SteamOS can’t fully implement certain features that are specific to the updated output standard. “At this time an open source HDMI 2.1 implementation is not possible without running afoul of the HDMI Forum requirements,” AMD engineer Alex Deucher said at the time. During the Dec. 4 celebration of Total War's 25th birthday, we got several cool and exciting announcements, including the fabled Medieval 3, which has officially been acknowledged. Though that game is probably half a decade away, it's being in early pre-production and all that jazz, we're going to get another Total War game much sooner. Mentioned briefly at the end of the presentation, this upcoming Total War is going to be revealed to the world at this year's Game Awards event, and is the "most ambitious" game in the franchise. Warhammer Fantasy was probably the most successful Total War subfranchise yet, so why wouldn't it follow up with 40K? Image via Creative Assembly However, we're going to have to wait for a week to actually figure out what it's about. Many are already speculating on two possible franchises: Star Wars or Warhammer 40K. Both are quite similar in scope and genre and take place across a whole galaxy, with star-faring civilizations embroiled in warfare. Of course, the latter ups the ante in every imaginable way, as you can seldom say that Star Wars has planet-sized ships that literally bombard worlds with churches while playing ecclesiastical music into their atmospheres. But yeah, Star Wars is cool too, I guess. The very fact that Creative Assembly is gatekeeping the announcement and saving it for the biggest gaming event of the year certainly does signal that a huge franchise is in question. Whether it's Star Wars, 40K, or even something like The Lord of the Rings, it's safe to say we're in for a treat. And with the new engine, which can handle things much better than what CA has used thus far, it could very well be the inaugural title of a new era, one where Total War is much deeper, complex, and ambitious than before. Or I could just be coping and imagining what could have been. We'll meet on Dec. 11. Fortnite fans believe developer Epic Games has indeed relaxed its rules around the depiction of male nudity, as the game's first fully detailed ******* have now been spotted. A shirtless style for the game's new Chapter 7 battle pass skin Carter Wu shows a relatively detailed nipple present and correct on the character's chest — the first in almost a decade of Fortnite history. is wu carter the first original skin with accurate male anatomy? byu/nodoyrisa1 inFortNiteBR .reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; } The development comes just weeks after fans spotted two telltale dots on the chest of Fortnite's underpants-wearing Homer Simpson skin, and wondered whether the game's long-term decision not to show nips had been reconsidered. At the time, Homer's design featuring nipples was debated as potentially being an exception to Fortnite's no-nips rule — perhaps due to some licensing requirement, or because his cel-shaded model was low in detail. But the arrival now of a standard Fortnite skin — prominently available in Chapter 7's first battle pass, no less — suggests otherwise, and points to more nipples likely now appearing within Fortnite in future. In the past, everyone from Travis Scott to God of War's Kratos, Avatar: The Last Airbender's Aang, WWE's John Cena, Dragonball Z's Goku, and Marvel superheroes such as Drax and The Hulk have all appeared in Fortnite topless, with smooth nipple-less chests. Even third-party creator-made modes have been nipple-free, with a high-profile promotional crossover with body hair shaver brand Philips featuring a smooth-chested model. Could Epic Games now re-add nipples to previous skins, restoring characters like Kratos to their fully chested glory? We will have to wait and see.
