  2. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Opening Cinematic Features New Version Of Iconic Song Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Opening Cinematic Features New Version Of Iconic Song With only three months left until the release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami has taken to YouTube to share the game’s opening movie. In addition to giving us a whole lot of new footage to swoon over, the three-minute clip also features a new recording of Cynthia Harrell’s iconic ballad, “Snake Eater.” And yes, she still absolutely knocks it out of the park. Though the song is fairly similar to the original recording, the overall mix feels a bit softer this time around, with the bass in particular standing out as less intense. The opening visuals, however, are substantially different. Whereas the original opening featured almost psychedelic visuals and was more enigmatic in tone, the new version focuses on showing off some of the game’s most iconic moments, including a pivotal confrontation between Snake and The Boss. That said, you can rest assured that one of the more beloved parts of the opening is being kept intact. According to the video’s caption, fans will still be able to enjoy the “interactive elements from the original, included in the in-game version of the opening,” such as using the analog stick to control the snakes that appear on screen. Last August, GameSpot had the chance to play the first few hours of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and found it to be a “relatively straightforward, modernized remake of the original” that handled the game’s transition into 2025 with “a deft hand.” The game is set to release August 28 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC. We’ve broken them out into sections below, starting with book box sets. The box sets in the list below run the gamut from prose novels and graphic novels to reference book collections and the aforementioned Mobspotter’s Collection Gift Box, which includes an encyclopedia, a drawing guide, an interactive game where you hunt for zombies, and a kit to make your own zombie figure. Minecraft: The Ultimate Mobspotter’s Collection Gift Box Minecraft Graphic Novels (Paperback) There are nine Minecraft graphic novels available now, six of which are collected in the two box sets mentioned above. The latest Minecraft graphic novel, Out of Order Volume 1, released on March 25. Minecraft Novel Series The Stonesword and Woodsword Chronicles box sets listed above were written for younger Minecraft fans (elementary to middle grade). There’s also a long-running series of Minecraft novels for young adult (and older) readers. Many of the 22 prose novels released so far are standalone stories, though some have received sequels or are loosely connected. You don’t have to start with the first book, but we’d recommend it anyway, because The Island was written by World War Z author Max Brooks. If you enjoy The Island, you should then check out The Mountain and The Village, both of which were written by Brooks as well. All of the novels are available in hardcover and most have been published in paperback, too. In some cases, the hardcover is actually cheaper than the paperback, so we’ve included both editions in the chronological list below. Minecraft Non-Fiction: Reference Books, Guides, Encyclopedias, and More A Minecraft Movie: From Block to Big Screen Lastly, check out the list below for a wide assortment of Minecraft guides, reference books, art books, and more. Notable new and upcoming releases include A Minecraft Movie: From Block to Big Screen, a behind-the-scenes look at the hit adaptation, and the Minecraft Official Blocks Guide, which releases October 14. If you haven’t preordered a copy of A Minecraft Movie, the Limited Edition 4K Steelbook is available for $38 at Amazon. Over at Walmart, you can buy an exclusive Blu-ray edition with packaging that can be folded into a Crafting Table display model. A Minecraft Movie releases on 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on June 24. 4. WhatsApp Rolls Out Voice Chat Feature for All Group Chats With End-to-End Encryption WhatsApp Rolls Out Voice Chat Feature for All Group Chats With End-to-End Encryption WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that makes it easier and more seamless to connect with others in group chats through live audio. The Meta-owned instant messaging client says users can now hop on a voice chat without having to leave the group or switch to a voice call. This feature was previously available only for large groups but has now been introduced for all group chats. Voice chats carry the same end-to-end encryption as individual chats. Voice Chats in WhatsApp According to WhatsApp, voice chats are available for groups of all sizes. Anyone in a group can start a voice chat by navigating to the bottom of the chat and swiping up till the Swipe up to chat message appears. Upon holding for a few seconds, WhatsApp will first display Release to talk and then a Connect option that enables the voice chat feature. The Meta-owned messaging platform says starting a voice chat does not notify or ring anyone in the group chat. People can join and leave the hangout space as per their preference. These chats will stay pinned at the bottom of the chat window for easy access to call controls. Meanwhile, new members can join voice chat whenever they want and take a look at who else is already in. In line with its stringent privacy policies, voice chats on WhatsApp come with the same end-to-end encryption as personal calls and messages by default. It claims not even the company itself can read contents of a chat or a voice chat. Gadgets 360 staff can confirm that the feature is currently live on both Android and iOS versions of WhatsApp. It may take a few days for it to be available to all WhatsApp users so you may not see it right away. This builds upon the recent discovery of several features in development for WhatsApp, including the ability to select the download quality for media auto-downloads, sticker reactions for messages and media, and on-device message translation using downloaded language packs. Norwich food bank forced to turn people away due to funding gap Norwich food bank forced to turn people away due to funding gap Maddy Jennings BBC News, Norfolk Silver Road Community Centre The community fridge and food bank are run by a team of volunteers A community foodbank said it has had to turn people away due to high demand and funding struggles. The Silver Road Community Centre in Norwich, Norfolk, started its food bank and community fridge in 2020, in response to the Covid pandemic. The food bank is run by a team of volunteers and relies on grants and donations to finance the service. Julie Brociek-Coulton, a Labour councillor on Norfolk County Council and a volunteer manager at the food bank, said: “We used to get quite a lot of grants, but with the cost of living and everything, it’s just been so cut back.” Over the last five years, Brociek-Coulton said she has seen an increase in the number of people needing the help of the food bank. The Trussell Trust, a food bank charity, said it has seen a 51% increase over the last five years in the number of emergency food parcels it has provided to people in the ***. Last year 332,540 emergency food parcels were handed out by the trust across the East of England, compared with 190,144 in 2019. Brociek-Coulton said that the food bank and community fridge serve about 100 people every week. “That is a lot of people who are coming in, and we’re an essential part of the community,” she said. “Everyone I talk to about food banks, they mention Universal Credit. “But it’s not like that anymore. All sorts of people are coming in here now,” she added. Julie Brociek-Coulton Julie Brociek-Coulton and her team apply for the grants themselves The Silver Road food bank is funded by donations from the community and grants that the team apply for. “Recently we put in for a grant that would help us for six or seven months, and we didn’t get it,” Brociek-Coulton said. “That was one of the main things we needed to survive.” “We used to get quite a lot of grants, but with the cost of living and everything, it’s just been so cut back.” Without this grant, Brociek-Coulton estimated the organisation would be able to help 50 fewer people every month. She added: “It’s really devastating to those people, but what can we do?” Source link #Norwich #food #bank #forced #turn #people #due #funding #gap Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

New Study Finds One Unexpected Health Stat Correlates to a Longer Lifespan New Study Finds One Unexpected Health Stat Correlates to a Longer Lifespan Yahoo is using AI to generate takeaways from this article. This means the info may not always match what’s in the article. Reporting mistakes helps us improve the experience.Generate Key Takeaways Eating a high-protein, well-balanced diet, getting 7-9 hours of sleep, walking 10,000 steps a day, and so much more are essential to a healthy and prolonged life. We see so much on social media from both experts and those who think of themselves as experts trying to pinpoint the key to living a longer and healthy life. Now, a new study has found one surprising measure of health and longevity. A study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research tracked over 14,000 adults aged 50 and above for 12 years, using grip strength as an easy indicator of muscle health. The findings showed that individuals with weaker grip strength faced a 45 percent higher risk of death over the study *******. Grip strength is often overlooked by the average gym-goer or health enthusiast, dismissed as useful only in over-the-top scenarios like hanging from a cliff. But in reality, it offers far more practical and important health benefits. Your grip can reveal a lot about the overall shape of your muscles. It can be used to assess muscle strength, predict risk of functional limitations and disability, and even serve as a biomarker for certain health conditions. As this study suggests, maintaining that strength could be key to living longer and feeling healthier as you grow older. The average grip strength for men is around 116 pound-force, while the average for women is 65.6 pound-force. However, healthy grip strength is typically 72.6 pound-force for men and 44 pound-force for women. Grip strength generally peaks in the 20-30 age range and declines with age, so the earlier you focus on improving your grip strength, the better the benefits will be in your later years. 10. hawk uses traffic patterns to target prey hawk uses traffic patterns to target prey It is a tactic worthy of Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt: wait until a beeping pedestrian crossing indicates a traffic ****** has formed then use the line of cars as cover to reach your target. But this isn’t a scene from Mission: Impossible – it’s the behaviour of a young hawk. The discovery is not the first time birds have been found to make use of an urban environment. Crows, for example, are known to drop foods such as walnuts on to roads for cars to crush them open. However, the researcher behind a new study says it is the most advanced case so far of raptors making use of traffic patterns. “When I figured out what was going on, I was really impressed. I didn’t expect that,” said Vladimir Dinets, a zoologist at the University of Tennessee and author of the study. “On the other hand, every time I study some animal species it proves smarter than I expect.” Dinets made the discovery during the school run in West Orange, New Jersey, when he spotted a young Cooper’s hawk emerge from a tree near a road junction. The bird flew close to the pavement behind a ****** of traffic that had stopped at a red light before crossing the road and taking a dive near one of the houses. After seeing the behaviour for a second time, Dinets realised the hawk was pouncing on a flock of birds that had gathered in front of a house where a family often ate dinner outdoors. Writing in the journal Frontiers in Ethology, Dinets describes how he then carried out 12 hours of observations from his car over 18 days during the winter of 2021-22. These were made on weekday mornings and only when the flock was present and there was no rain or snow the day before – weather that would prevent the residents of the house from eating alfresco. Dinets recorded six attempted attacks by the same hawk, identifiable by its plumage, and on one occasion saw it fly away with a house sparrow in its grip. He found the hawk only emerged from the tree when a long ****** of traffic had built up, offering sufficient cover for its approach – something that depended on the pedestrian crossing being activated. Dinets also noticed the bird took up its position in the tree when the crossing’s sound signal began, suggesting the hawk used the sound as an indication that a longer traffic ****** was to form and that it was time to prepare for attack. “This behaviour required having a mental map of the area and understanding the connection between the sound signals and the change in traffic pattern – a remarkable intellectual feat for a young bird that likely had just moved into the city,” Dinets writes, noting Cooper’s hawks tend to be winter visitors to urban areas. Related: California town investigates mystery of ‘exploding’ bird deaths The following winter he twice saw an adult hawk, possibly the same bird, hunting in the same way. But the following summer the sound signals stopped working and the residents that ate alfresco moved out of their house. “No hawks were ever observed at the intersection after that,” he wrote. Dinets added that while it is known social birds such as crows and parrots can be very clever, intelligence in more solitary species is more difficult for humans to recognise and so probably underestimated. “Cities are extremely dangerous places for wild animals,” he added. “Anything that can survive here must have some special abilities and deserves our respect.” Source link #hawk #traffic #patterns #target #prey Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  13. Goal-scoring sensation leads City’s push for $2m trophy Goal-scoring sensation leads City’s push for $2m trophy One of the Matildas’ most gifted prospects, Holly McNamara has the world at her feet and a bright future calling. But first, she’s ready to win the biggest club game of her career, and land Melbourne City a bumper $2 million pay day. McNamara made a scintillating return from injury to charge to the golden boot with 15 goals and help City win the A-League Women premiership. But she was concussed 10 minutes into the second leg of City’s semi-final loss to Central Coast, and the club missed out on a treble. Thankfully, she had something else to play for. McNamara was excellent in Wednesday night’s Women’s Asian Champions League semi-final win over Incheon Red Angels, and is ready for Saturday’s final against Wuhan Jiangda. “There was so much heartbreak around that semi-final, the way it went down. But I’m so glad we regathered ourselves,” McNamara told AAP. “That was a big thing for us, that we knew we had this competition. “This is such a good feeling now to be in this final – it’s hard to put into words.” If City win at Wuhan Sports Centre Stadium, they will earn a $2 million prize packet. Each player will receive around $47,000 if they win, or $23,000 if they lose. “In terms of prize money for women’s football, it’s amazing,” McNamara said. “We’re so glad and happy that we can push for that and then get some reward out of it at the end.” It would also be reward for a stellar individual season. McNamara was shocked when coach Michael Matricciani told her she’d be a central striker, instead of a winger. It has unlocked another level to her game. “There’s a lot more opportunities in front of goal to finish and obviously score goals,” she said. “It’s a bit more direct, and hopefully I can stay there.” McNamara has also gained confidence from Matildas interim coach Tom Sermanni starting her at No.9. “I’m just really glad to be back out there,” she said. “That’s what I’m doing at the moment: just trying to really enjoy it and put my best foot forward to hopefully impress, but just have fun.” City veteran and former Matildas captain Melissa Barbieri watched superstars Sam Kerr and Caitlin Foord emerge as teenagers, and is now seeing McNamara flourish. “She’s better than they were,” Barbieri told AAP. “While Sammy and Caitlin Foord were already quite technically gifted with their dribbling and things, Holly’s touch under pressure and her ability to snap-shot from anywhere, I get to see daily.” She believes McNamara’s hard road, including overcoming three ACL tears, will benefit her long-term. “She’s been dealt quite a difficult hand, and the things that she’s learned from that is probably going to put her in good stead,” she said. “She’s got a good head on her shoulders and she’s not about to let stardom get in the way of anything.” That includes a decision on her future after the upcoming Matildas camp. McNamara, 22, is attracting attention from overseas and also has an offer from City. “It’s exciting to think about, but I’m really just focused on this next game and then going into (Matildas) camp after that,” McNamara said. “My ambition is to always go play in a league overseas, just not sure when that will be. “I’d love to challenge myself eventually and whenever the right moment is at the right club then that’ll come up.” First, McNamara wants to get that medal around her neck. “Hopefully we can get it done and get the other trophy,” she said. “It’ll just be unreal.” Source link #Goalscoring #sensation #leads #Citys #push #trophy Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]
  14. Four Supreme Court Justices Refuse to Read the First Amendment Four Supreme Court Justices Refuse to Read the First Amendment Four Supreme Court Justices wanted to make it legal for taxpayer dollars to fund religious charter schools. The Supreme Court produced a 4–4 deadlock on Thursday on the question of whether an Oklahoma religious school could take part in the state’s publicly funded charter school programs. While the decision is unsigned, thanks to the even split, it is likely that Chief Justice Roberts sided with liberal Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and Elena Kagan in opposition to the measure, while conservatives Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, and Samuel Alito likely voted in favor of allowing religious charter schools access to public funds. Justice Amy Comey Barret recused herself due to attorneys from her alma mater, Notre Dame Law School, representing the religious schools. The deadlock leaves in place an Oklahoma ruling that a Catholic public charter school is unconstitutional. But the Supreme Court sidestepped the question, deferring to the lower court decision. The four judges who voted in favor of the measure seem to be ignoring that earmarking public funds for religious schools is a clear violation of the establishment clause of the First Amendment. This clause prohibits the government from “establishing” a religion and from blurring the lines between separation of church and state. “The fact that the Court split 4–4 in this case, with Justice Barrett recused, is not especially surprising,” said CNN Supreme Court Analyst Steve Vladeck. “The surprise is that the court had agreed to take this case up, with Justice Barrett recused, in the first place. That had led some folks to wonder if Chief Justice Roberts might be willing to join the other four Republican appointees in favor of public funding for religious charter schools. Today’s affirmance without an opinion suggests that he isn’t, at least for now.” * This story has been updated to remove references to the Lemon test. 19. WA shipbuilder Austal names banking boss Richard Gibb to join board WA shipbuilder Austal names banking boss Richard Gibb to join board Henderson naval shipbuilder Austal has picked former Credit Suisse Australia boss Richard Gibb to join its board as a non-executive director. Mr Gibb held the top job at Credit Suisse for five years until 2024 and is currently chair of the risk committee at big four bank ANZ. He joins Austal on June 2. Announcing the appointment to the market on Friday, Paddy Gregg-led Austal said Mr Gibb had spent over 35 years in international finance and investment banking. “Richard possesses important international finance, M&A and capital management skills,” Austal chair Richard Spencer said. “When combined with existing board defence and manufacturing operations skillsets, he will provide important expertise to Austal as we expand our operations in the USA and our role in Australia.” It comes just over two months after South Korean group Hanwha secured a 9.9 per cent major shareholding stake in Austal. Hanwah is seeking approval from the Foreign Investment Review Board to build up its stake even further to 19.9 per cent, generally considered the *********** takeover threshold. Speaking to The West *********** earlier this year, Hanwha Defence’s chief executive Michael Coulter did not rule out a future takeover of Austal. 20. Why Are Bitcoin Traders Aggressively Shorting as BTC Hits New Record High? Why Are Bitcoin Traders Aggressively Shorting as BTC Hits New Record High? Bitcoin {BTC} galloped to a new record high above $110,000 on Thursday, liquidating around $500 million worth of derivatives positions in its wake, but some traders aren’t buying into the bullish sentiment. Trading volume jumped by 74% in the past 24 hours as traders attempted to position themselves, however the majority of these traders are opting to go short — or bet on bitcoin moving downwards. Coinalyze data shows that the long/short ratio is at its lowest point since September 2022, which was the midst of crypto winter. This trend began on April 21 as traders aggressively shorted the breakout above $85,000, seemingly under the impression that bitcoin had already formed its cycle high and that any subsequent move would form a double top. However, despite a lack of retail participation, bitcoin continued to grind higher, taking out levels of resistance at $97,000 and $105,000 on its path. The move can be attributed to a number of factors; a recovery in U.S. equities as tariff concerns cooled, a rise in institutional activity on exchanges, like the CME, and crucially a wealth of short positions to squeeze and force prices higher. While these short positions might be considered bearish in terms of market structure, they are actually fanning the flame to the upside as it gives bullish traders areas to target and conduct stop-loss hunts like we saw earlier this week. Shorting an asset’s record high is not necessarily a bad strategy; a trader will often opt to enter a short position at a level of resistance, whether that be technical or psychological, and layer stop losses above where the thesis of a short trade would be invalidated. In this case, if a trader shorted $105,000 on each of BTCs three tests of that area, they could have closed their position in profit on three occasions at $102,000, meaning that even if they were stopped out of the trade at $109,000, it would be a profitable week. Alongside the continued rise in short positions we have seen open interest jump disproportionately to BTC. Over the past 24 hours BTC is up 4.8% while open interest is up by 17% despite hundreds of million being liquidated. This indicates that the record high break is driven by leverage and might be less sustainable that the initial drives above $100,000 in December and January. It remains to be seen whether interest in short positions continues to rise if BTC rolls on with its momentous move above $111,000, but there is certainly a minefield of short positions to squeeze if it needs some ammunition. 22. Luke Jackson feels the love as Dockers stalk top eight Luke Jackson feels the love as Dockers stalk top eight Luke Jackson will have another week to make his case as Fremantle’s No.1 ruck as the Dockers look to break into the AFL top eight. Fremantle will play it safe with ruck partner Sean Darcy, leaving Jackson in charge at the Optus Stadium centre square against Port Adelaide on Saturday night. Darcy won’t play at any level this weekend as he continues to manage a left knee injury, further hurting the Dockers’ two-ruck experiment. Darcy has previously had surgery on the same knee, but coach Justin Longmuir said earlier in the week the current injury wasn’t connected. While Longmuir remains adamant about their ‘horses for courses’ approach in the ruck, Jackson put in a commanding solo performance in their 34-point away win over GWS. The premiership player tallied 32 hitouts to help the Dockers win the centre clearance count by 15 to eight. He also finished with 21 disposals, seven clearances and a game-high 15 contested possessions. Jackson has played predominantly in attack when Darcy has been in the side, but he expressed his love for the ruck after starring against GWS. The 23-year-old’s performance comes as rumours swirl about a potential move back to Melbourne, but teammate Josh Treacy says the speculation hasn’t been a distraction. “I imagine it doesn’t. It’s just, ‘play your role down the field’,” Treacy told AAP. “No, all we do is wrap our arms around Luke. Clearly by his performance, it’s not affected him and we love having him in our environment. “I certainly love having him in our environment and I know he loves being here.” After squaring their season ledger 5-5, the Dockers could seize a spot in the top eight if they beat Port. The Giants, also 5-5, sit eighth on percentage. “Clearly not the start we wanted, but there’s still a long way to go,” Treacy said. “To find what we’ve been looking for over the last few weeks – and for it to really come together (against GWS) and just put four quarters of tough Freo footy on the park – I couldn’t be prouder. “We were just searching for consistency, looking for the brand of footy that we want to play for the rest of the year.” Power coach Ken Hinkley has been forced to make four changes due to injuries as his side look to snap a three-game losing streak. The visitors head to Optus Stadium after a 76-point thrashing by Geelong. Travis Boak, Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, Rory Atkins and debutant Hugh Jackson come into the side for Jason Horne-Francis, Lachie Jones, Josh Sinn and Esava Ratugolea. Fremantle have named an unchanged side for the first time this year. Source link #Luke #Jackson #feels #love #Dockers #stalk #top Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  24. Disney seeks to stop YouTube from hiring veteran to oversee sports, media Disney seeks to stop YouTube from hiring veteran to oversee sports, media Disney logo is seen on the store in Rome, Italy on May 10, 2025. Nurphoto | Nurphoto | Getty Images Walt Disney seeks to stop Alphabet’s YouTube, which announced Thursday that it has appointed long-time executive Justin Connolly as its global head of media and sports. Disney filed a lawsuit against YouTube in a state court in Los Angeles late Wednesday to stop the appointment, alleging breach of contract, unfair competition and interference with a contractual relationship. Disney claimed that YouTube is and has been aware of Connolly’s employment agreement, which required him to work for Disney through at least March 1, 2027. He signed a new three-year contract in November 2024 that gave him a one-time right to terminate it until March 2027. It seeks a preliminary and permanent injunction to prevent Connolly from further breaching the contract. YouTube did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. Connolly will manage the platform’s relationships with major media companies as well as take charge of the company’s growing live-sports portfolio, according to a source familiar with the matter. The popular video sharing platform has been aggressively pursuing live sports for the past few years, alongside competitors such as Netflix and Amazon, in a bid to take advantage of its massive user base and large sports audience. YouTube inked a $14 billion NFL streaming deal in 2022, which enables it to stream big football matches, while Amazon and other media firms also rushed to secure big sports streaming deals. The platform has also expanded beyond traditional video sharing and into live TV, music and podcasts, and generates billions in advertising revenue from its vast content reserves. Connolly spent over two decades at ESPN and Disney and exited his role as head of platform distribution earlier this week as Disney gears up to launch its ESPN sports streaming platform.
