‘******’ sounds the battle cry for Aussies in Paris
Alex de Minaur believes he’s ready to challenge for French Open glory for the first time and has declared his pride in *********** tennis unleashing its biggest battalion of players on Roland Garros for 35 years.
De Minaur, once again the country’s leading hope in Paris, reckons he’s feeling confident, refreshed and a completely different clay-court performer to the one who used to roll up at the red courts with no sense of expectation or enjoyment.
But on a day when teenager Maya Joint was reaching her first WTA final in Morocco and veteran Daria Saville was battling through the final round of qualifying to make it a total of 16 Australians in the main draw, buoyant main man de Minaur told AAP: “It makes me feel proud to be an Aussie.”
The red clay has so often been a merciless early burial ground for *********** hopes but de Minaur believes that, like his own fortunes in Paris, things are changing, with the largest contingent since 1990 now ready for the championships on Sunday.
“It always makes me feel proud to see how over the last two, three years, we have come back and become a force to be reckoned with, like we did all those years ago?” de Minaur told AAP from Paris.
“Australia’s got such a rich history and culture in tennis, and we are a grand slam nation, and we should be showing it. It’s great to see so many players coming out on the men’s side, we are showing up week in and week out.
“We’ve got some great girls coming through with Maya just getting into the first final. It’s really just showing that, even though it’s the French Open and the clay that we’re normally not our best on, we’re here to be a force to be reckoned with. That’s great and something to be proud of.”
Naturally, though, it’s de Minaur himself, the world No.9, who remains the standard bearer, as he comes off a week’s “refreshing” break following his most convincing-looking clay season yet which he believes is a by-product of his breakthrough run to the quarters in Paris last year.
Could he even win it this year? “For me, the biggest thing, and what’s going to take me to to the next level and next step coming into these grand slams, is not just being out here to make up the numbers, but actually planning on going the distance,” he said.
“That’s the whole plan. It’s been a long, long road, and there’s been gradual improvements every year, but I’m ready to make the next step, to go even deeper, breaking through that quarter-final barrier and be playing for the title.”
It won’t be easy, with a minefield-littered path featuring the prospect of early matches against Jakub Mensik and Jack Draper even before a potential quarter-final date with world No.1 Jannik Sinner.
But de Minaur shrugged: “I’ve always been a person that stays in the present, so the only thing on my mind right now is my first-round opponent, (Serbian Laslo) Djere.”
But of his own form, he noted a mite bullishly: “Last year’s run gave me a lot of confidence to really believe that I can be a menace on the surface, and I can take it to anyone on any given day.”
Joint, at 19, has impressed de Minaur hugely, as he learned the youngster had reached her first final in Rabat on Friday after Ajla Tomljanovic retired, feeling poorly. The pair are due to meet again in the Paris first round.
Saville completed the Aussie main draw line-up when she came from a set down to beat American Taylor Townsend 2-6 6-2 6-4 in her final qualifier, but her reward is a treacherous first round date with seventh seed and *********** Open champion, Madison Keys.

A Norwegian man managed to sleep through an enormous container ship running aground on his front lawn.
Johan Helberg, who lives in Byneset, on the Trondheim Fjord, was woken by his neighbor on Thursday morning asking if he had noticed a boat outside, TV2 Norway reported.
When he looked out his door, he saw a 135-meter-long (443-foot) container ship parked up in his front yard.

“If the ship had hit the rocky outcrop right next to it, it would have lifted up and hit the house hard. It only missed by a few meters,” Helberg told TV2.
His neighbor, Jostein Jørgensen, who lives about 40 meters (131 feet) from the beach, told TV2 he was woken around 5 a.m. by the sound of a boat approaching.
“When I looked out the window, I saw a boat speeding toward the shore,” he told the local TV network, adding that he ran outside and shouted to raise the alarm.
No one was injured in the incident. – Norwegian Sea Rescue Society Trondheim
Jørgensen said the boat, the NCL Salten, got closer and closer until it ran aground about eight meters (26 feet) from the wall of his neighbor’s house.
“He was lying asleep and surprised he had a visitor,” Jørgensen told TV2.
The vessel was reportedly bound for Orkanger, at the southern end of the fjord, and had 16 people aboard when it ran aground.
Bente Hetland, managing director of the shipping company NCL, called it a “serious incident” and said the company was “grateful that nobody was injured in the grounding.”
“At present time, we do not know what caused the incident and are awaiting the conclusion of the ongoing investigation by the relevant authorities,” Hetland said in a statement. “We are currently assessing the damage to the ship.”
A tugboat was initially sent to try to pull the vessel free, to no avail.
On Thursday evening, a salvage company tried to mount an attempt to refloat the ship at high tide, but it was later decided it was not possible, the Norwegian Coastal Administration said in a statement.
It said geotechnical investigations were now needed before another attempt could be made.
While there have been no signs of oil leaking from the vessel, the authority said it had an oil response vessel on standby to respond, if needed.

The most recent case involves an unlucky GeForce RTX 4090 owner who shared his experience on Reddit and presented a DIY solution to avert future incidents.
Redditor malcanore18 recounted how the 16-pin power connector on his GeForce RTX 4090 had melted. To avoid it happening in the future, the user improved his 16-pin power cable by integrating six miniature fuses. Although the solution might not be visually appealing, the underlying idea sounds plausible. If one of the pins draws too much power, the corresponding fuse will blow, causing a chain reaction for the other fuses. Although this band-aid solution may seem basic, replacing the fuses is less costly than repairing the graphics card. Another Redditor suggested using resettable fuses instead, as they can automatically reset themselves after an incident and do not require replacement like conventional fuses.
A catastrophe often unites strangers. Redditor jlodvo demonstrated that there can be multiple ways to solve a problem. Instead of fiddling with the 16-pin power connector, he addressed the issue directly. The user reportedly asked someone to remove the power connector and solder each wire directly to his graphics card. This shouldn’t pose a problem if the user has a modular power supply that allows him to disconnect the cable from the power supply end whenever he wants to remove his graphics card from the case.

A third Redditor, IMI4tth3w, offered a solution he applied to an L40 with a melted 16-pin power connector, partly due to a faulty third-party cable. He described removing the melted connector and reverse-engineering the cables to utilize two standard 8-pin PCIe power connectors. However, the author cautioned that this method may not apply to all graphics cards. The specific reason it works on the L40 is that this data center graphics card appears to feature a pigtail version of the 16-pin power connector.
It’s intolerable that meltdowns remain a problem, particularly with Nvidia graphics cards that cost a small fortune. Although numerous theories exist regarding the cause of these meltdowns, we have yet to receive a definitive answer from Nvidia. In the meantime, many Nvidia graphics card owners remain anxious, uncertain if the smell of burning plastic could eventually emanate from their GeForce RTX 5090 or GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards one day.
Graphics card and power supply manufacturers have taken specific steps to counteract the problem, such as implementing colored connectors to ensure they’re adequately inserted or special sensors inside the power supply. These DIY workarounds for the 16-pin meltdowns look neat, but we don’t recommend you try them unless you know exactly what you’re doing.

The Trump administration is planning to dispatch hundreds of border agents to different parts of the country so they can help Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrest unauthorized immigrants in the U.S interior, three sources familiar with the plan told CBS News.
The plan would be the latest escalation in the Trump administration’s aggressive efforts to muster the vast resources and personnel of agencies across the federal government to support ICE in its bid to carry out what the president has vowed will be the largest deportation operation in U.S. history.
The effort is expected to involve around 500 personnel from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, including green-uniformed Border Patrol agents in charge of interdicting the illicit entry of migrants and drugs, the sources said, requesting anonymity to discuss internal governments plans that have not been announced.
The sources said the CBP teams would also include members of the agency’s Office of Field Operations, which oversees legal entry points into the U.S., and Air and Marine Operations, a specialized law enforcement unit with maritime and aerial assets.
CBP agents and officers assigned to the effort are expected to assist their counterparts in ICE’s 25 field offices by supporting immigration enforcement operations targeting immigrants in the country illegally, the sources added.
The effort could start as early as next week, two of the sources said.
As immigration officers, CBP personnel have the legal authority to arrest and process immigrants who are suspected of being in the U.S. illegally. Historically, however, CBP’s work has been mainly limited to the ******** and ********* borders, maritime sectors and international airports.
Representatives for the Department of Homeland Security and CBP did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
The plan highlights the Trump administration’s government-wide campaign to find the manpower necessary to scale up its crackdown on ******** immigration, while Congress debates giving ICE billions of dollars to add thousands of additional immigration agents and detention beds.
The Trump administration has already tasked law enforcement personnel at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Drug Enforcement Administration; the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and other agencies like the Internal Revenue Service with helping ICE target and arrest unauthorized immigrants.
Officials at DHS have also asked the Pentagon to allow 20,000 National Guard troops to provide support to interior immigration enforcement operations. The Department of Defense has already deployed thousands of additional active-duty troops to the southern border to help CBP deter ******** crossings.
The effort also suggests interior enforcement operations are taking precedence over efforts at the U.S.-Mexico border amid a historic drop in ******** crossings there.
In President Trump’s first three full months in office, ******** crossings at the southern border have reached the lowest monthly tallies ever publicly reported by CBP. They are also likely the lowest levels since the late 1960s, according to historical government data.
Officials have attributed the dramatic plunge in ******** border crossings to measures put in place by Mr. Trump immediately after he started his second term, including an unprecedented policy that has effectively closed the American asylum system on the premise the country is facing an “invasion.”

During an earnings season where analysts expected many companies to lower guidance, darling gambling stock DraftKings (NASDAQ:) was one that had to do just that. Even as shares are down nearly 34% from their all-time high reached in February as of the May 21 close, DraftKings stock is still up more than 150% over the past three years.
DraftKings has seen an explosive rise in the popularity of its platform over the last several years. At the end of 2020, the company had about 900,000 monthly unique payers (MUPs). This number shows how many users placed a bet on its platform in a month. MUPs have more than quadrupled since, coming in at 4.3 million in the most recent quarter.
Despite this, lowering guidance is never something investors want to see. So, what is in store for this consumer discretionary name going forward?
Is DraftKings still well-positioned even after lowering its expectations for 2025? This analysis will dive into the details of the company’s most recent report and provide a perspective on the stock’s outlook.
DraftKings Gets Slapped By Revenue and Guidance Double Whammy
Not only did DraftKings have to lower its revenue guidance for 2025, but it also missed revenue estimates in the first quarter. The company’s revenue came in at just over $1.4 billion for a growth rate of 20%.
This was slightly less than 2% slower than the nearly 22% growth Wall Street analysts anticipated.
The company also lowered its guidance by around 2% at the midpoint to $6.3 billion, equating to a decrease of $150 million. However, this news has multiple silver linings.
March Madness Bettors Dunk on DraftKings: 3 Silver Linings
DraftKings tackled its weak guidance at the start of the earnings call. They said, “If not for customer-friendly sports outcomes in March, we would be raising our fiscal year 2025 revenue and adjusted EBITDA guidance.” EBITDA stands for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. It is commonly used to assess the profitability of firms like DraftKings that have yet to generate positive net income.
In this statement, DraftKings refers to negative betting outcomes that occurred against it during the college basketball March Madness tournament, the largest sports betting event in the United States.

However, the key takeaway is that March Madness 2025 represented a betting anomaly. It also wasn’t a problem exclusive to DraftKings, and it doesn’t indicate an underlying weakness in the company. Flutter, the owner of FanDuel, experienced the same issue.
If this anomaly hadn’t played out, DraftKings would be raising both its revenue and profitability guidance.
The second silver lining is that DraftKings stock rose over 2% after its earnings release. This demonstrates that Wall Street wasn’t scared away by the company’s unusual plight in the quarter. Lastly, Wall Street analysts tended not to move their price targets much in reaction to the results.
Among analyst updates tracked by MarketBeat after the May 9 release, the average drop in DraftKings’ price targets was less than 1%. Additionally, the average of those new price targets comes out to more than $55 per share.
This figure implies a 55% upside in DraftKings shares compared to their May 21 closing price.
DKNG: Improving Underlying Metrics and Expansion Potential Provide Favorable Outlook

Billy Joel has cancelled all forthcoming tour dates after being diagnosed with a rare brain condition.
The 76-year-old singer-songwriter – known for classic hits like Piano Man, Uptown Girl and We Didn’t Start the Fire – is receiving “excellent care” and is “fully committed to prioritising his health”, a statement said.
He has Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), which is caused by a build-up of fluid in the brain and causes problems with his hearing, vision and balance.
After being told by doctors to stop performing live, he has called off 17 dates in 2025 and 2026, including stadium shows at Murrayfield in Edinburgh and Anfield in Liverpool next summer.
“I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding,” he said.
A statement issued on his behalf said Joel’s condition “has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance”.
It continued: “Under his doctor’s instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery *******.
“Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritising his health.
“He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage.”
NPH is described by the NHS as an uncommon and poorly understood condition that most often affects people over the age of 60.
As well as the two *** dates, he had been due to perform in the US and Canada from this July to next July.
He had previously postponed shows in March because of a “medical condition”, which was not specified at the time, “to allow him to recover from recent surgery and to undergo physical therapy”.
Joel has regularly been on tour in recent years, and ended a record-breaking decade-long monthly residency at Madison Square Garden in New York last year.
He has been nominated for 23 Grammy Awards, winning five times, and was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1999.

The Liberals have pulled ahead of an independent to lead by just eight votes after the distribution of preferences in a federal seat that must go to a recount three weeks after the election.
Liberal candidate Gisele Kapterian had pulled ahead of Nicolette Boele by a whisker during preference counting in the Sydney seat of Bradfield, just days after Ms Boele was provisionally declared the winner by 39 votes.
After a full distribution of preferences on Friday, the *********** Electoral Commission confirmed it would do a recount beginning on Monday and is expected to take two weeks.
The commission does recounts for all lower-house contests where the final margin is less than 100 votes.
Ms Kapterian was originally declared the winner in Bradfield by some media outlets, and was in the Liberal party room during the leadership contest that led to Sussan Ley being named opposition leader.
However, a strong spread of postal and absentee votes to the teal independent caused her to take a narrow lead in the Liberal stronghold.
In another tight race, Labor is on track to pick up an extra seat to add to its increased majority as counting continues in the Melbourne-based seat of Calwell.
As the full preference distribution is carried out, it has come down to a four-way contest between Labor, the Liberals, the Greens and an independent.
An electoral commission spokesman said counting would resume on Monday.
A win in Calwell will place the government on 94 seats in the 150-seat House of Representatives.
The Liberals have 28 seats in the lower house and the Nationals have 15.
The Greens have been reduced to one seat, with 11 shared between independents and other minor parties.

If you’re looking forward to the Nintendo Switch 2’s new GameChat feature but haven’t snagged a camera yet, there are now three official USB-C cameras to choose from. Nintendo’s first-party Switch 2 Camera has sold out multiple times since preorders opened last month, but you can preorder the $55 accessory at a few different retailers at the moment.
Alternatively, Hori’s upcoming lineup of officially licensed Nintendo Switch 2 accessories includes two unique cameras. One of them doubles as an adorable Super Mario Piranha Plant decoration, while the other Hori USB Camera is a portable-minded option for TV, handheld, and tabletop modes.
It’s worth noting that the Switch 2 will support select third-party USB-C cameras, including existing cameras not technically designed for Switch 2. Nintendo will offer a “Test USB Camera” feature in the system settings so you can check if your device is supported.
$55 | Releases June 5
The official Nintendo Switch 2 Camera has a 1080p resolution lens and connects to the console via USB-C. Designed with the Switch 2’s GameChat feature in mind, the sleek camera features an adjustable lens that can be tilted to different angles. It can capture small areas with one or two people in the frame as well as larger rooms with wide view.
The official camera can be activated with the the new C menu button on the Switch 2 Pro Controller, Joy-**** 2, and officially licensed third-party controllers like the Horipad Turbo and PowerA Super Mario-themed controllers. The C button activates GameChat, though the video portion of the new communication suite is optional.
With GameChat, you can talk to friends using the Switch 2’s built-in mics, share your gameplay, and video chat (provided you have a camera).
Camera-based gameplay features will also be available in select games, including Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV.
$60 | Releases June 11
Hori’s Piranha Plant Camera makes for a very cute display piece for Super Mario fans. It even has the Switch 2 logo on the warp pipe. But there is a rather big downside to this officially licensed camera: It only supports 480p resolution, so it’s substantially worse from a technical perspective compared to the camera made by Nintendo.
If you mainly want this because it’d double as a cool decoration, it’s worth noting that the Lego Super Mario Piranha Plant is available for $48 (was $60) at Amazon.
Speaking of Amazon: The reason Amazon is carrying the Piranha Plant Camera is because it’s manufactured by Hori. Amazon still sells officially licensed third-party Nintendo accessories, but not first-party accessories. That’s why you won’t find the official Switch 2 Camera at Amazon.
$60 | Releases June 30
While Amazon is sold out of preorders for the Piranha Plant Camera, the other Hori camera is still available to buy at Amazon and Best Buy. Like the Piranha Plant Camera, Hori’s compact Switch 2 USB Camera is limited to 480p resolution.
So, why would you want this $60 camera over the official one? It certainly doesn’t have the visual flair of the Piranha Plant Camera, but it has its own potentially appealing focus: portability. This tiny USB-C camera can be used when the Switch 2 is docked as well as in handheld and tabletop modes. In handheld and tabletop modes, the camera essentially becomes a dongle, so it’ll look like a webcam attached to a laptop. It also has a removable privacy lens cover.
The first-party Nintendo camera also supports tabletop and handheld. modes, but it’s clearly not as friendly from a travel perspective. You’ll either need to hold it or place it on a flat surface, which could be inconvenient in certain situations. Due to its long neck, you probably wouldn’t want to toss Nintendo’s camera in a backpack.

The New York City Police Department is trying to locate a mystery woman who stabbed a photographer in the back this month.
It all happened on May 5, when a shutterbug told police he was snapping photos in front of Sounds of Brazil, a popular restaurant and nightclub in the city’s SoHo neighborhood.
A woman then approached the 36-year-old man and the two got into a verbal altercation about some undisclosed matter, according to an NYPD spokesperson.
Things escalated between the pair and the woman punched the man in the shoulder with a closed fist, the spokesperson said.

Then, according to the NYPD spokesperson, the woman pulled out a pair of scissors, stabbed the man in the back, and fled down the street before disappearing into a nearby subway station.
Police are now on the hunt for a female with a light complexion who was last seen wearing ****** shoes, a ****** jacket and a ****** bag.
She was also seen carrying her tan shears in an image released by police of her entering the subway.

Dozens of communities are beginning to assess the damage of devastating and deadly flooding as the rain begins to ease.
Towns across the NSW Hunter and mid-north coast remain cut off and it will take some time to recover once floodwaters recede.
Recovery efforts are under way for communities hardest hit including Taree, Kempsey, Dungog, Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour, with essential supply drops delivered by boat and helicopter.
Farmers are also beginning to take stock of their losses after cattle were washed down rivers and many properties suffered significant damage.
More than 1600 insurance claims have already been made, according to the Insurance Council of Australia.
Assistance grants of $180 per person or $900 for families are expected to roll out in coming days and those unable to work in the hardest-hit areas will have access to disaster recovery allowance from Monday.
By Friday evening, the flood-related death toll had risen to five, with the SES confirming its crews had conducted 736 flood rescues since the flooding began.
The body of a man believed to be his 80s was found inside a burnt-out vehicle in the shed of a Cooplacurripa property, about 50km northwest of Taree.
Severe weather conditions had prevented emergency crews accessing the man’s home when a concern for his ******** was raised two days earlier.
The body of a man in his late 70s was also found on Friday after his vehicle appeared to be swept off a causeway at Nana Glen near Coffs Harbour.
Another man died at a flooded home near Taree, as did a driver west of Port Macquarie and a 60-year-old woman near Coffs Harbour.
A man missing in Nymboida has been found but police have not ruled out floods as a factor in the disappearance of another man in Bellingen.
Volunteers are focusing on getting supplies to the 50,000 people isolated by floodwaters.
And as the rain eases, another weather problem is on its way, with strong winds expected to batter the state.
Senior meteorologist Angus Hines said a powerful windy cold front would sweep across parts of Australia in the coming days.
“As soon as one weather system leaves the state, we start lining up the next one already,” he said.
“The main threat looks to be the damaging wind gusts that this front will bring.
“Extensive damage and possibly destructive winds across almost all of NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, SA and southern Queensland all seeing some of the wind as well.”
Increased wind on Monday and Tuesday could also uproot trees and buildings from sodden soil.
“Because we’ve got these saturated soils we’re going to see loosened root systems and we will see trees come down,” NSW State Emergency Service Chief Superintendent Dallas Burnes warned.
Disaster assistance has been expanded, with 19 areas eligible for support.

British Chagossians accuse *** government of betrayal over sovereignty deal
Two women who brought an 11th-hour legal challenge to try to stop the *** transferring sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius have accused the government of betrayal.
British Chagossians Bertrice Pompe, 54, and Bernadette Dugasse, 68, who were both born on the largest of the islands, Diego Garcia, vowed to keep fighting to try to realise their dream of returning to their place of birth.
They obtained a high court injunction in the early hours of Thursday morning preventing the *** government from signing the deal with Mauritius. But later that day, another judge discharged the injunction and the agreement to hand over Britain’s last African colony was sealed.
While much of the fallout has focused on the cost to the *** of leasing back Diego Garcia, which is home to a ***-US airbase, and perceived security threats from Mauritius’s relationship with China, many Chagossians feel sidelined.
Chief among their concerns is that Diego Garcia is exempted from the right of return for Chagossians contained in the deal and that the Mauritius government will not do right by them.
Dugasse, who was two-and-a-half when her family was forced to move to Seychelles, said on Friday that she was heartbroken. “I don’t know how to put it because the night before we won, and in the morning we lost – I’ve been betrayed by the British government,” she said.
“I will have to keep on fighting the British government till they accept for me to settle there [on Diego Garcia]. Do I know if I’ll be able to be around to keep on fighting? I’m getting older and older and I’m losing my strength so I don’t think I can make it for very long.”
The presence of the military base was the reason the *** severed the Chagos Islands – renaming it the British Indian Ocean Territory – from the rest of Mauritius, when it granted the latter independence in 1968. The British forcibly displaced up to 2,000 people in what has been described as a crime against humanity and one of the most shameful episodes of postwar colonialism.

An internal Foreign Office memo notoriously belittled Chagossians as “a few Tarzans and Man Fridays” and Pompe, just six months old when her family was expelled, referred to this as she explained how the ***’s current actions were exacerbating its past transgressions.
She said: “We’ve been ignored, we’ve been invisible, we don’t exist. They don’t even mention us. When they expelled us, everything was hidden [as if] there were no human beings on the island, just some Man Fridays. And they’re not saying it 1748021513, they’re not pronouncing the [same] words, but by their actions they’re doing the same thing. We’re being scammed over and over again.”
Given their historic treatment by the British, it might seem strange that the legal challenge sought to keep the islands under British control, but the women explained that it was intended as a temporary arrangement.
Dugasse said it would be “for the time being, until we are able to manage our island by ourselves”. She elaborated, likening the deal to going “out of the frying pan, into the fire”, and added: “Like my grandparents used to say: ‘Better the ****** you know than the ****** you don’t know.’”
Of the Chagossians in Mauritius, many of whom support the deal, she said: “They forgot that in the past they were campaigning against the Mauritian government for dumping them in rough houses, dirty places.”
Pompe and Dugasse pledged to continue the fight by urging MPs to vote against the deal in parliament and also through the courts. “I’m still feeling hopeful,” said Pompe. “[Thursday] was a little bit of a disappointment, but after that we’ve had so much support, especially from other Chagossian groups.
“I’m going to keep working with my lawyers, and we’re going to bring another case. So it’s not over until the **** lady sings – and that’s me.”
The government made no reference to the Chagossians in its press release on Thursday. It described the agreement as a “legal necessity”, given international court rulings which said it should return the islands to Mauritius, and said it had secured the future of the “strategically critical” Diego Garcia base.

Nuclear power stocks surged Friday on a report that President Donald Trump will sign executive orders to speed the construction of reactors and secure key materials for the industry.
Advanced reactor companies Oklo and NuScale jumped more than 25% and 18%, respectively. Constellation Energy, the largest nuclear operator in the U.S., was up more than 1%. Cameco Corp., one of the biggest uranium miners in the world, rose about 8%.
Trump could sign the orders as early as Friday, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters. The president is scheduled to sign orders in the Oval Office at 1 p.m. ET, according to the White House schedule.
Trump will invoke the Defense Production Act to declare a national emergency due to U.S. dependence on Russia and China for enriched uranium, nuclear fuel processing and inputs for advance reactors, according to a draft summary viewed by Reuters.
The president is also expected to direct federal agencies to permit and site new nuclear facilities, according to Reuters. He will also order the Departments of Energy and Defense to identify federal land and facilities where nuclear can be deployed and streamline the process to build them, Reuters reported.

Hitman developer IO Interactive is keeping busy. In addition to a fantasy new IP, the studio is developing Project 007, which is the working title for its new James Bond game.
Announced in November 2020, Project 007 tells an origin story for James Bond. We haven’t seen any footage yet, but we’ve still learned a fair amount about the upcoming game. Read on to learn everything we know so far about Project 007, including plans for it to potentially kick off a new trilogy.
When will Project 007 be released?
There is no word yet on when Project 007 will be released. It was announced in November 2020, and many took the reveal to be a specific strategy to encourage people to come work at IO on the IP. Announcing games early in development for the purpose of attracting talent is a comment practice in video games.
One of the big new hires for Project 007 is Rodrigo Santoro, a former Ubisoft veteran who joined IO in 2024 to become missions director for the James Bond game. Santoro said he was happy to join IO to work on the James Bond game, saying most companies are making sequels, so he’s excited for a new challenge.

Preorders for Project 007 are not available yet, but whenever that happens, we’ll report back with a preorder guide.
Project 007 trailer information
So far, the only video for Project 007 was the announcement sizzle clip that was released when the game was announced in 2020. It showed very little, but does borrow the popular styling and official music for the James Bond series.

Project 007 platforms
The only confirmed platform for Project 007 so far is the Nintendo Switch 2. However, it’s assumed the game will also come to PlayStation and Xbox consoles. IO said the game is being developed for “modern systems and platforms.”
Project 007 story, setting, and characters
The Project 007 teaser video doesn’t show Bond himself, so it’s unclear if the character’s likeness will be based on any of the actors who have played him over the years.
What is confirmed is that Project 007 tells an origin story for James Bond–the first time ever for any form of James Bond entertainment–and it will be a “wholly original Bond story.” Players will “earn their 00 status” in the course of the game’s story.
However, that’s all we know so far about the plot. James Bond movies are known to be globe-trotting affairs, as Bond hunts down villains across the world. The series is also known for its action, and it’s expected Project 007 will include some of this. Bond also sometimes needs to be stealthy, and IO’s experience with the Hitman series would seemingly help in this department.
IO intends for the game to kick off a new trilogy. CEO Hakan Abrak told IGN that Project 007 won’t be based on any of the existing Bond movies. Instead, the developer is being allowed to create its own version of James Bond for the game.
“What’s exciting about that project is that we actually got to do an original story,” Abrak said. “So it’s not a gamification of a movie. It’s completely beginning and becoming a story, hopefully for a big trilogy out there in the future. And equally important and exciting, it’s a new Bond. It’s a Bond we built from the ground up for gamers. It’s extremely exciting with all the tradition and all the history there is there together to work on this together with the family of creating a young Bond for gamers; a Bond that the gamers can call their own and grow with.”
Project 007 game engine
Project 007 is being developed using IO’s proprietary Glacier engine. The company is hiring a multiplayer programmer, and a previously spotted job ad called for someone with multiplayer experience to work on Project 007. This suggests, but doesn’t confirm, that the new James Bond game will have multiplayer.
Who’s developing Project 007?
Project 007 is in “active development” at IO’s offices in Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmo, Sweden.
“Creating an original Bond game is a monumental undertaking and I truly believe that IO Interactive, working closely with our creative partners at EON and MGM, can deliver something extremely special for our players and communities,” Abrak said. “Our passionate team is excited to unleash their creativity into the iconic James Bond universe and craft the most ambitious game in the history of our studio.”
Former MGM boss Robert Marick, meanwhile, said, “We plan to bring a new take on this legendary franchise to gamers and Bond fans around the world. IO Interactive are masters of crafting living, breathing worlds of immersive storytelling.” Marick left MGM after the game was announced.
A James Bond shakeup
A major unanswered question about Project 007 is whether or not anything about the project changed due to James Bond stewards Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson getting bought out of their ownership, with Amazon MGM Studios taking over all creative decisions.
Broccoli and Wilson had managed the James Bond franchise for almost 60 years, following it being passed down from their father, Cubby Broccoli. The pair have been the driving force behind the entire Bond franchise during that *******, including selecting the actors who would play the iconic spy. Their work has extended beyond just the movies, as Broccoli at least has been involved in decision-making for the games; it recently came to light that Broccoli raised a number of concerns about the GoldenEye game for Wii.
What impact the new leadership at Amazon MGM Studios could have on IO’s game is unknown, but GameSpot has contacted the studio in an attempt to get more details. We’ve also reached out to Amazon MGM Studios.
History of James Bond games
A number of companies have made James Bond video games over the years. One of the most memorable and iconic James Bond games was Rare’s 1997 GoldenEye 007 for Nintendo 64. Electronic Arts made James Bond games, too, including Agent Under Fire, Nightfire, and Rogue Agent. Activison took over for a ******* of time, publishing titles like Quantum of Solace and Blood Stone. There hasn’t been a new James Bond game for console since 2012’s 007 Legends, though Cypher 007 came out for mobile in 2023.
The next James Bond movie
The 26th Bond movie is now in the works, with Harry Potter’s David Heyman and Spider-Man’s Amy Pascal signed on as producers. Amazon MGM Studios will produce the film, but there is no word yet on any of the key details about it, including the biggest question of all: who will play James Bond? Aaron Taylor-Johnson was said to be the front-runner at some point. Also unknown is who may direct the new Bond movie or when it could release.
A Wall Street Journal report from December 2024 said Broccoli and Wilson were sparring with Amazon executives over the future of the series, causing important developments on the project to be delayed. Now that Broccoli and Wilson are out, some are theorizing that Amazon might try to get the ball rolling quickly for Bond 26.
