Girl, 13 Fends Off Attacker on Walk Home from School Using Jiu-Jitsu: ‘Broke His Ankle’
Girl, 13 Fends Off Attacker on Walk Home from School Using Jiu-Jitsu: ‘Broke His Ankle’
A 13-year-old girl in Carmel, Calif., successfully fought off an attacker using her jiu-jitsu training
The attacker ambushed the girl after hiding between parked cars
Police are still searching for the suspect
A 13-year-old girl in California fought off a man using her jiu-jitsu training and broke his ankle when he tried attacking her on her walk home from school.
Police in Carmel, Calif., are now looking for the teen’s attacker. Police say the suspect ambushed the girl by hiding between two parked cars and stepping out to punch her in the face, according to reporting from KSBW, ABC7 and KION.
For three years, the 13-year-old has been taking jiu-jitsu classes at the Carmel Youth Center with Michael Blackburn, who teaches at the center, per ABC7. The teen applied what she learned in her class when the man tried to attack her.
Jiu-jitsu is a weaponless form of martial arts that focuses on subduing opponents using joint locks, chokeholds, and leverage-based techniques like throws and pins.
“She punched him, she got him in a headlock, kneed him a couple of times, spun him around, threw him on the ground,” Blackburn said to the outlet. “She had stepped on his foot doing all this, and when she threw him on the ground, he broke his ankle.”
The teen was able to run home safely but her attacker is still on the loose. According to the local outlets, Carmel police do not have any solid leads on the man but have released a sketch of what they believe he looks like.
The suspect is believed to be around 6 feet tall, muscular and now has an injury to his left foot inflicted by the teen who fought back, according to KSBW.
“We’re doing everything we can to figure out who this person [is who] is responsible for what happened,” Todd Trayer, the local police department commander, told the outlet. He added that the suspect may have been under the influence of an intoxicant.

Blackburn told the outlet that it broke his heart that his 13-year-old student needed to fight under the circumstances she did — but he told her he’s proud of her.
“She did exactly what she was supposed to do,” he said. “You have to fight in class like you’re going to protect yourself on the street.”
Blackburn told KSBW that knowing self-defense can save one’s life. “If a parent can get their child to a class, even if it’s a weekend class, to learn something, it’s so beneficial because there’s so much out there nowadays that it’s really scary.”

If a Rainbow Six Speculation Is True, Then Ubisoft Has Screwed Up Siege X Already
If a Rainbow Six Speculation Is True, Then Ubisoft Has Screwed Up Siege X Already
Ubisoft… When will you learn the lesson and be better than yesterday? Rainbow Six Siege X was supposed to set up the next ten years for the game, right? Then why are complaints coming in from creators already, who are on the test server? No, don’t give the excuse that test servers are supposed to be like that.
It’s a good thing to release a test build to players who want to play the season early and help you fix bugs. But this has been a common story for every Siege update. Ubisoft makes something great only to break something else. Operation Health was probably the season with the fewest issues. Can you do the same all across?
Rainbow Six Siege X test server has pointed out an audio bug, and it isn’t interesting
Wasn’t sound propagation update your biggest move, Ubisoft? | Image Credit: Ubisoft
Ubisoft isn’t new to finding itself in trouble recently; however, should this narrative go on forever? Come on, from misinterpreted trailers during E3 to now, things haven’t quite changed. Now that Ubisoft is at a threat of going bankrupt, can they just do one thing right?
Rainbow Six Siege X will be a free-to-play game starting June 10, 2025, and hopes are high. There have been showcases of good upcoming content for the game. However, none of that matters if the game is unplayable. You’ll lose players before even attracting them. Moreover, there are already many free-to-play games that are just doing better. Why should they try your game?
Thanks to Siege content creator VarsityGaming, the newest bug drop for Rainbow Six Siege X came to life. It wasn’t surprising, as it was very much expected by a long-standing player. As matter of fact Varsity is almost unfazed by it, but it kept poking.
VarsityGaming was invited to the Rainbow Six Siege X Year 10 showcase to try out the game. He mentioned that the test build of the game sounds way different. To his complaint, the game sounds a lot muffled, and sometimes, the sound does not even reach his ears.
The reworked sound system was one of the biggest showcases for the upcoming title. However, if that doesn’t function as intended, Ubisoft faces a huge problem. First-person shooters are very much dependent on sound cues; if a single piece of information is missed, it could have massive consequences. What makes it worse? It isn’t even the player’s mistake; it’s the game’s mistake.
Rainbow Six Siege X follows the same rituals as its predecessor
Rainbow Six Siege had many issues, and sound was one of them. Players have been seeking a fix for a long time, which is finally arriving ten years later. Players were excited about this new, reworked sound system, yet it still doesn’t work.
For long-time Siege players, this isn’t shocking news. However, if new players start complaining about these audio issues, Ubisoft should listen for good. If a free-to-play game is simply bad, no one would be playing it, so all the effort they’ve put in will go down the drain completely.
The worst thing about the development team behind Rainbow Six Siege is that they’ve always been slow. They take months or even seasons to fix something, and sometimes, during this process, they break another thing that wasn’t intended. The developers might be potent. However, their lack of efficiency and quality is what brings them down.
Do you think Rainbow Six Siege X will have it all figured out once it releases? What are your thoughts on the free-to-play business model Ubisoft is aiming towards? Tell us about it in the comments below.

Bordeaux’s Jefferson Poirot cited in incident with Northampton Saints’ Henry Pollock
Bordeaux-Begles prop Jefferson Poirot has been cited for allegedly grabbing Northampton’s Henry Pollock by the throat following Saturday’s Champions Cup final in Cardiff.
Former France captain Poirot, 32, was seen in an altercation with the England flanker shortly after the full-time whistle was blown on Bordeaux’s 28-20 victory.
Tournament organisers European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR), confirmed that Poirot had been charged by citing commissioner Tim Lowry, with “committing an act contrary to good sportsmanship in contravention of law 9.27”.
In a statement the EPCR said Poirot’s alleged act was, “dangerous and had the potential to cause serious harm.”
Poirot will attend a disciplinary hearing by video conference on Thursday and faces a ban if found guilty.

Toyota to merge electric and petrol model lines
Toyota to merge electric and petrol model lines
Instead of having separate internal combustion engine (ICE) and EV models, Toyota and Lexus will shift to offering hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric drivetrain options on a wider range of vehicles.
Right now Toyota has a bunch of overlapping ICE and EV models, each around the same size, but featuring unique bodies and interiors to match their drivetrain type.
For example, the all-electric bZ4X, and the hybrid and plug-in hybrid RAV4 are between 4.6 and 4.7 metres in length. There’s also significant overlap between the C-HR+ and Corolla Cross; and Lexus RZ and RX.

Andrea Carlucci, head of marketing and planning for Toyota Europe, admitted to Autoblog the current strategy “causes a complexity challenge”.
Not only do the extra models cause confusion in showrooms, but it also makes it harder for the automaker to adapt to fluctuating demand for ICE and EV drivetrains.
“We should simplify the number of silhouettes, with multiple powertrains. We are trying to navigate our way through it. We need to find a platform that’s good for PHEV and HEV and EV,” Ms Carlucci continued.
Camera IconSupplied Credit: CarExpert
The template for this change was laid out with the eighth-generation Lexus ES, which Ms Carlucci describes as “the right balance for a multi-energy car”.
Unveiled at the Shanghai motor show last month, the new ES will be offered in Australia, the US, China, Europe and other markets with the choice of petrol and all-electric drivetrains.
The two hybrids on offer are the entry-level 148kW ES300h, which has a 2.0-litre hybrid system, and the 182kW ES350h with a 2.5-litre hybrid drivetrain. The EV range starts with the 165kW ES350e, and is crowned by 252kW all-wheel drive ES500e.
The new ES is based on an updated version of Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, which underpins cars like the RAV4, Camry, and Kluger, as well as the Lexus NX, RX and LM.
Camera IconSupplied Credit: CarExpertCamera IconSupplied Credit: CarExpert
It’s unclear which models from the Toyota and Lexus families will benefit from the new approach, but Ms Carlucci was happy to point out the GR family and the LandCruiser won’t go down this route.
“I don’t think simplification for its own sake is good,” Ms Carlucci said. “We won’t simplify away the GR models. GR isn’t just profit, it’s intangible value to Toyota. And we won’t stop the LandCruiser.”

Trump pardons former sheriff convicted of bribery
Trump pardons former sheriff convicted of bribery
By Bo Erickson
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -President Donald Trump issued a pardon on Monday for a former Virginia sheriff who was convicted last year of federal bribery charges, averting prison time for the officer.
“Sheriff Scott Jenkins, his wife Patricia, and their family have been dragged through HELL,” Trump posted online, issuing a full and unconditional pardon. “He will NOT be going to jail tomorrow, but instead will have a wonderful and productive life.”
Jenkins, a former Virginia sheriff who served an area about two hours outside Washington, D.C., was convicted by a jury in December 2024 for accepting more than $75,000 in bribes in exchange for appointments as auxiliary deputy sheriffs.
In March, Jenkins was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.
The bribes came from several people in the form of campaign contributions, and in exchange, they were sworn into deputy sheriff positions and received badges and credentials, according to court documents and evidence presented at the trial.
“The bribe payors were not trained or vetted and did not render any legitimate services to the Sheriff’s Office,” the Justice Department said at the time.
Since his conviction, Jenkins has appealed directly to the Trump administration for relief. “I believe wholeheartedly in the president,” Jenkins said in April on a webinar hosted by the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, according to the NBC4 affiliate in Washington.
“I believe if he heard the information, I know he would help if he knew my story,” Jenkins said, referencing Trump.
In issuing the pardon, Trump in his online post called Jenkins a “victim of an overzealous Biden Department of Justice.”
The top Justice Department official who announced Jenkins’ conviction last year did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
This latest pardon follows Trump’s January pardon of almost everyone criminally charged with participating in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, a February pardon of the former Democratic governor of Illinois who was convicted for trying to sell former President Barack Obama’s vacated U.S. Senate seat, and others.

Kevin O’Leary argues Trump blocking Harvard from taking international students could have dire consequences
Kevin O’Leary argues Trump blocking Harvard from taking international students could have dire consequences
Since returning to office, President Trump has intensified efforts to reshape America’s higher education landscape — and Harvard is directly in the crosshairs.
On May 22, the Trump administration announced plans to halt the university’s ability to enroll international students, cutting off a major revenue stream for one of the nation’s oldest and wealthiest institutions. The move follows weeks of rising tension, including an April 14 standoff when Harvard refused to comply with demands to overhaul its governance, hiring, admissions and research programs.
Don’t miss
But Shark Tank star and Trump supporter Kevin O’Leary isn’t buying it. In an appearance on Fox Business, the celebrity investor — who also teaches at Harvard Business School — was asked what he makes of the Trump administration’s “strong move against Harvard.” O’Leary pushed back on it, saying his students don’t hate America. In fact, they’re eager to build businesses here.
“We want them here. I want to invest in them. I’ve already invested in two of them,” O’Leary told Varney & Co. on Fox, as reported by the Daily Beast. “These are the brightest and the best from around the world, and they’re coming for the American dream.”
International students are a major part of Harvard’s identity. The university has nearly 7,000 students from around the world, accounting for about 27% of its student body.
While U.S. District Judge Allison D. Burroughs has issued a temporary restraining order to block the Trump administration’s measure, the legal battle — and Harvard’s future with international students — is far from over.
Stuck in limbo
The Trump administration’s latest attack on Harvard hinges on claims that the university is failing to uphold American values. Trump has pointed to student-held pro-************ protests as evidence, but O’Leary isn’t convinced and says that’s not what he’s seeing.
O’Leary believes that targeting elite institutions such as Harvard could have unintended consequences — especially when it comes to attracting top global talent. He’s urging President Trump and Harvard’s president, Alan Garber, to come to an agreement.
“This has to get worked out,” O’Leary said. “When I go back there to teach in the fall, I want the best and brightest because I, along with millions of other investors, want them to stay in America.”
But for many students, the uncertainty is already settling in. The Trump administration’s order leaves international students at Harvard in a precarious position. Those on student visas could be forced to transfer to another institution in order to remain in the country — even if they’re just weeks away from graduation.
Marc Hvidkjaer, a doctoral student from Denmark, is among those students feeling the tension.
“I’m in limbo and the government has shown its hand here. And it’s showed to what lengths it is willing to go,” he told City News.

Harvard pushes back
Harvard’s standoff with the Trump administration isn’t just about one university — it could set the tone for the future of higher education across the country.
In April, the university formally rejected a series of demands from the administration, arguing that compliance would effectively hand over control of its curriculum and operations to a conservative-led government. In its legal complaint, Harvard called the move a “blatant violation of the First Amendment.”
Legal experts say the standoff carries implications far beyond Harvard’s campus.
“Perhaps this was not necessarily just about Harvard,” Charles Kuck, an Immigration Lawyer and Emory University Professor, told City News. “This was a message to all of higher education that you have to come into line with the thinking of what this administration thinks higher education should be.”
Lee C. Bollinger, former president of Columbia University, echoed that sentiment, telling the New York Times that Harvard’s refusal to back down is “precisely what has been needed.” He praised the university for defending not just academic freedom, but the democratic values embedded in America’s most vital institutions.
In the face of growing political pressure, President Garber said Harvard would continue to stand its ground.
“As we pursue legal remedies, we will do everything in our power to support our students and scholars,” he said in a statement.

Is UnitedHealth the Boeing of Healthcare? Why It May Be Too Big to Break
Is UnitedHealth the Boeing of Healthcare? Why It May Be Too Big to Break
Following the WSJ’s report on Medicare Advantage fraud investigation by the Justice Department, UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:) stock hit a 5-year low on May 15th. Over a month, UNH shares are down 31%, currently priced at $292.80 per share.
This is a 53% value deflation from UNH all-time high price of $630 not so long ago, in November 2024. In addition to the Medicare probe, the largest health insurer still faces ongoing antitrust investigation, launched in February 2024 but delayed due to staff reductions.
On top of that, the company faces a crisis of leadership. After the assassination of CEO Brian Thompson in early December, Andrew Witty took over. However, he too was unexpectedly replaced on May 13th with Stephen J. Hemsley, as Witty resigned for personal reasons.
Altogether, these factors drove UNH stock in oversold territory, as the Relative Strength Index (RSI) dropped under 30 from over 70 in April. In many ways, this is a similar situation with Boeing (NYSE:), as bad press had a suppressing effect, only for the stock to exit yearly lows and make shareholders happy. But let’s examine if UnitedHealth Group has equally enduring fundamentals?
Where Does UnitedHealth Group Stand Against Rivals?
According to an American Medical Association (AMA) report, UnitedHealth Group is the largest commercial health insurer on a national level, having maintained its market share relatively closely from 2014 to 2023.
In Medicare Advantage, UnitedHealth holds a firm advantage, having increased its market share from 25% in 2017 to 29% in 2023. For comparison, Humana (NYSE:) holds 18% market share in both periods, while other companies are under 10% with the exception of CVS (former Aetna) in 2023 at 11% market share.
AMA based this data on commercial enrollment in MA, PPO, HMO, POS, and public exchange plans. The report concluded that the US health insurance market is highly concentrated, with Herfindahl-Hirschman Indices (HHI) showing 95% concentration in both 2014 and 2023.
Concentration in the Medicare Advantage (MA) market is even higher, at 97%, although fallen from 99% in 2017. This is likely why the DoJ initiated a probe in UnitedHealth Group.
Previously, the DoJ blocked major mergers between Anthem and Cigna (NYSE:), as well as Aetna acquiring Humana. The reasoning was that this would introduce anticompetitive harms, raise prices and stifle innovation. Ultimately, these merger blocks lessened the competitive pressure on UnitedHealth Group in the process.
Is UnitedHealth Group Easily Replaceable?
Everyone intuitively understands why Boeing enjoys a formidable moat. The company’s deep reservoir of talent, vast infrastructure, and mastery in engineering and logistics make it virtually irreplaceable. Any “replacement” for Boeing would be more an exercise in nomenclature or corporate restructuring than an actual substitution by a rival firm.
Similarly, though UnitedHealth Group (UHG) operates in a world shaped by financial structures rather than heavy industry, it too commands an entrenched, vertically integrated ecosystem. This spans supply chains, clinics, physicians, pharmacies, and expansive data center infrastructure.
Put differently, UHG is as structurally embedded in the U.S. healthcare system as Alphabet (NASDAQ:) is in the technology sector. Much like Microsoft’s approach to gobbling up promising startups, UHG expands by systematically absorbing subsidiaries. In 2024 alone, it acquired full or partial stakes in over 100 surgery centers, adding more than 250 new entities to its portfolio.
While the Department of Justice blocked UHG’s $3.3 billion bid for Amedisys (NASDAQ:) in November 2024, it’s worth noting the company had already acquired Amedisys’s key competitor, LHC Group (NASDAQ:), for $5.4 billion, securing a strong foothold in the hospice care space.
In essence, just as the federal government tolerates high market concentration in Big Tech, with only occasional regulatory pushback, it adopts a similar posture in healthcare. For investors concerned that fragmentation could undermine UHG’s dominance, the more pertinent question is:
Does the U.S. government show a preference for allowing a few dominant players to anchor each sector of the economy, or does it actively promote fragmentation?
UHG’s Financial Performance
Alongside UnitedHealth Group, the company operates within two main subsidiaries, Optum and UnitedHealthcare. For Q1 2025 ending March, delivered on April 17th, UHG reported $9.8 billion revenue increase from the year-ago quarter, to $109.6 billion.
Moreover, UHG’s operating margin increased from 5.8% to 6.2% in that *******. In total, the company’s net profits increased to $6.47 billion from the net loss of $1.2 billion in the year-ago quarter. Across Optum and UnitedHealthcare, the company’s profitability, as consolidated operating margin, increased from 7.9% to 8.3%.
However, for full year 2025, UHG revised its outlook performance downward, from adjusted earnings per share of $29.50–$30 to $26–$26.50 EPS. Now departed Witty called this “unusual and unacceptable” despite the continued strong growth.
At present, UHG has a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 12.26, which is significantly lower than the average P/E of 16.03 in the healthcare sector. This again points to UNH stock being oversold despite the regulatory probe concerns.
UHG’s Price Targets
Per WSJ’s forecasting data, the average UNH price target is $378.86 per share. Given that the current UNH price is $292.80 per share, this gives investors a profit potential of 30%. The bottom estimate holds at $270, while the UNH price target ceiling is $552 per share.
The overwhelming majority of analysts recommend buying UNH shares at this price point, 17, while only one analyst thinks it’s worth selling. In addition to the DoJ probe regarding Medicare Advantage, UHG faces a class-action lawsuit alleging that the company defrauded shareholders following the backlash from the assassination of its CEO.
In other words, that UHG lowered its potential profitability from such intimidation. Additionally, there is a class-action related to claims that UHG’s AI-powered system denied patients for post-acute care, potentially resulting in deaths. However, the federal judge presiding over the case had already dismissed five out of seven such claims.
At the end of the line, although UHG’s leadership flux is somewhat concerning, investors should view it in a similar light to leadership changes within Boeing and Intel (NASDAQ:). In addition to the likely UNH stock rise, investors can also look forward to a $2.10 quarterly dividend payout per share.

Trump says Putin has ‘gone absolutely CRAZY’
Trump says Putin has ‘gone absolutely CRAZY’
US President Donald Trump said Vladimir Putin had “gone absolutely CRAZY” by unleashing a massive aerial attack on Ukraine and said he was weighing new sanctions on Moscow, though he also scolded Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
Trump posted the remark on social media on Monday as sleeping Ukrainians woke to a third consecutive night of huge Russian aerial attacks, listening for hours to drones buzzing near their homes and eruptions of Ukrainian anti-aircraft fire.
“Something has happened to him (Putin). He has gone absolutely CRAZY!” Trump said of the Russian president on Truth Social.
“I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!”
Trump also criticised Zelenskiy, posting that the Ukrainian leader “is doing his Country no favours by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop.”
The Kremlin, asked about Trump’s remark about Putin being “crazy,” thanked the US people and Trump for their assistance in launching peace negotiations but suggested Trump and others might be emotionally overloaded.
“This is a very crucial moment, which is associated, of course, with the emotional overload of everyone absolutely and with emotional reactions,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Zelenskiy, in his nightly video address, did not directly address Trump’s criticism. He said the repeated barrage of Russian attacks reflected Putin’s “political choice” and proved the Kremlin was not interested in ending the war.
“There is no military sense in this, but it is an obvious political choice – a choice by Putin, a choice by Russia – a choice to continue the war and destroy lives,” he said.
Zelenskiy said the attacks – more than 900 drones as well as missiles over three nights – showed that Russia was “playing with diplomacy.” Russia, he said, “deserves full-scale pressure, everything that can be done to limit their military capability.”
Swarms of drones are being launched by both sides while fierce fighting is under way along key parts of the front.
The Ukrainian Air Force said the most recent overnight Russian attack hit targets in five locations, but did not elaborate, implying military damage.
The western region of Khmelnytskyi, which is home to a military air base, was targeted by seven cruise missiles and scores of drones, and residential buildings and industrial facilities sustained damage, officials said. A 14-year-old boy was reported injured in the ****** Sea region of Odesa.
The Russian Defence Ministry said its strike hit targets at Ukraine’s Starokostiantyniv air base in Khmelnytskyi region. The Kremlin said the attacks were directed at military targets and that the strikes were a response to significant Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian targets.
Speaking to reporters at the airport in Morristown, New Jersey, Trump said of Putin: “I don’t know what’s wrong with him. What the hell happened to him? Right? He’s killing a lot of people. I’m not happy about that.”
He raised the possibility of imposing more sanctions on Russia in response to the ongoing attacks.
In the biggest aerial assault of the war, Russia pummelled Ukrainian cities and other targets with at least 367 drones and missiles the previous night into Sunday, killing at least 12 people, including three children in the northern region of Zhytomyr, Ukrainian officials said.
The Russian attack was the largest of the war in terms of weapons fired, although other strikes have killed more people.

‘Acts Like He Owns Hunts Point,’ ‘Not Much of a Neighbor,’ ‘Busy With National Stuff’
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been noticeably missing from local events in his upscale Seattle neighborhood, Hunts Point.
Bezos, who is the world’s second-richest man, relocated to the affluent area in 2019, buying a waterfront estate worth $37.5 million.
Despite his high-profile status, Bezos has been notably absent from community events such as Cleanup Day, the Fourth of July celebration, and local charity fundraisers.
Don’t Miss:
According to a report by Insider, while Bezos himself has been largely invisible, his staff members have become familiar faces in the neighborhood. His chef and security personnel are well-known to the residents, who have noticed the increased security presence.
Nevertheless, Bezos’ absence has been felt in the close-knit community. Residents commented on his lack of involvement in community activities. Despite this, Bezos has made donations to a local charity, Bellevue Lifespring.
One resident told the Insider, “Jeff Bezos acts like he owns Hunts Point.” “He’s not much of a neighbor,” another resident said. “He’s so busy with all this national stuff.”
Earlier in 2024, Bezos announced that he would be leaving Seattle to make Miami his primary residence. His departure comes after four years in Hunts Point, characterized mainly by his absence.
Bezos’ absence from community events in Hunts Point, despite his high-profile status and the presence of his staff, has been noted by residents.
His departure for Miami marks the end of a four-year ******* in the affluent Seattle neighborhood, during which he was largely unseen but still made contributions to local charities.

Djokovic pondered retirement during Nadal ceremony
Djokovic pondered retirement during Nadal ceremony
As Novak Djokovic chatted at Court Philippe-Chatrier with his greatest rivals in tennis – Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray, all of whom have retired – he couldn’t help but think about when his day to walk away might arrive.
“Well, I mean, honestly, I was thinking about my end of the road, as well,” Djokovic said with a smile on Monday, a day before he will play his first-round match at the French Open against Mackie McDonald of the United States.
“But,” Djokovic added moments later with a grin, “I didn’t think about the exact date, if that’s what you’re looking for.”
Federer, Djokovic and Murray made a surprise appearance on Sunday at the ceremony to honour Nadal for his 14 championships at Roland Garros.
Djokovic, who turned 38 last week, won the 100th title of his career over the weekend at the Geneva Open on red clay – something the Serb called “definitely much needed for my game and confidence level coming into Roland-Garros”.
He is the youngest member of a quartet who combined to collect 69 Grand Slam trophies, and came to be known by some as the Big Four of men’s tennis while they dominated the sport for years.
Federer, 43, played his final match in 2021; Murray, 38, stopped after last year’s Paris Olympics; Nadal finished up last season and was feted on Sunday for his 14 championships at Roland-Garros.
“I was talking to Federer and Murray about their goodbyes and reminiscing and reflecting on the rivalries. And of course, part of me is proud that I’m still there, that I’m still going,” said Djokovic, who owns a record 24 major titles, including three in Paris.
“But at the same time, I was, and I still am, a bit sad that they’re all gone, because those guys were my greatest motivations of why I competed so intensely and for so long.”
Part of what went through Djokovic’s mind on Sunday was an appreciation for the way Nadal was celebrated.
And Djokovic also pondered what might happen when he decides to stop.
“Rafa deserved what he got yesterday in full intensity of its glory. Each one of us dreams of being remembered in such a way and celebrated, of course,” Djokovic said.
“I do wish one day that I can get that kind of goodbye from the world of tennis, for sure.”
He got emotional listening to Nadal’s speech and seeing the way the Spaniard’s relatives and team members reacted.
“It was a really heartwarming moment. Even though we were the fiercest rivals, it’s that personal touch that is out there when you kind of spill your heart out on the court, as he did yesterday. It’s almost impossible it doesn’t touch you deeply,” Djokovic said.
Djokovic was briefly coached by Murray this season until splitting recently, and Djokovic said it was a mutual decision.
He also said Murray teased that it was only after they went their separate ways that Djokovic earned his first title of the season by winning in Geneva on Saturday.
Djokovic said: “I didn’t take that as a joke.”

Zelensky accuses Russia of planning new offensive
Zelensky accuses Russia of planning new offensive
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday accused Russia of planning a new offensive.
There are no signs that Russian President Vladimir Putin is seriously considering a diplomatic solution, Zelensky said in his evening video address.
“We can see from the information obtained by intelligence and from open-source data that Putin and his entourage do not plan to end the war,” he said.
“On the contrary, there is ample evidence that they are preparing new offensive operations.”
Zelensky said this shows Moscow’s contempt for all those who are trying to achieve peace, a likely reference to US President Donald Trump, who has presented himself as a mediator for a peaceful solution to the war since taking office in January.
The large-scale attacks by Russian forces on Ukrainian cities with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and more than 900 drones over the past three days were militarily pointless, Zelensky added.
He said these served only to cause destruction and reiterated his call for increased pressure on Moscow through further sanctions.

Buffett Reduces Bank Bets—Here’s Where He’s Putting Capital in 2025
Buffett Reduces Bank Bets—Here’s Where He’s Putting Capital in 2025
There were some major moves away from banks.
Last week, Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:) filed its 13F report with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), detailing the stocks it bought and sold in Q1.
While there weren’t a huge number of changes in the quarter, there were some notable shifts, including a significant move away from banks.
Warren Buffett, the soon-to-be retired CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, has made no secret over the years about his affinity for bank stocks. It shows by the fact that Berkshire’s portfolio over the years has been dominated by banks and financial companies.
But, judging by some of the moves made in Q1, he is less bullish on where banks are headed in this market.
Cutting Bank of America, Citi, and Capital One
For example, in the first quarter, Buffett sold off some 48 million shares of Bank of America (NYSE:), a stock that had, as recently as a year ago, been the second largest holding in the portfolio. Its assets in the portfolio went from $41 billion in Q2 of 2024 down to $26.3 billion in Q1 of 2025. In Q1, Bank of America assets were slashed 7%.
Bank of America is now the fourth largest holding behind Apple (NASDAQ:) at $66.6 billion, American Express (NYSE:) at $40.8 billion, and Coca-Cola (NYSE:) at $28.6 billion.
Notably, Buffett made no changes to Apple in Q1, after significant cuts in recent quarters. While still the largest Berkshire holding, representing about 26% of the $258.7 billion portfolio, Apple is down considerably from where it was. At the end of 2023, Berkshire Hathaway held about $174 billion worth of Apple stock, which represented almost 50% of the $350 billion portfolio.
Since then, the Apple stake has shrunk 62% and the overall portfolio has dropped about 26% to $258 billion.
But back to banks, Bank of America was not the only one Buffett slashed in Q1. Buffett also reduced his stake in Capital One (NYSE:) by 4% to $7.1 billion. Capital One just closed on its $35 billion acquisition of Discover Financial.
In addition, Buffett and Berkshire completely sold out of two banks, Citigroup (NYSE:) and Brazilian online bank Nu Holdings (NASDAQ:NYSE:). Buffett sold the remaining 14 million-plus shares in Citigroup, valued at $1 billion, and sold the remaining 40 million shares in Nu, valued at about $416 million.
Beer Run
Among the stocks Buffett added in Q1 was Constellation Brands (NYSE:), the maker of beer, wine and liquor, including Modelo and Corona.
Berkshire bought 6.3 million more shares of Constellation, increasing its stake in the portfolio by 77% to $2.2 billion.
Another big add was to Verisign (NASDAQ:), a technology company that is a leading provider of internet domains. Berkshire increased its stake in Verisign by 23% to $3.37 billion, adding some 18,000 shares.
Buffett also increased the firm’s stake in Pool Corp. (NASDAQ:), a distributor of swimming pool equipment and supplies. Berkshire bought 865,000 more shares of Pool Corp. stock, increasing its value by 128% to $464 million.
Other adds include Domino’s Pizza (NYSE:) (NASDAQ:), Occidental Petroleum (NYSE:), Sirius XM (NASDAQ:), and Heico Corp. (NYSE:).

Nissan considering selling HQ to fund plant closures – report
Nissan considering selling HQ to fund plant closures – report
Nissan may sell off its global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan to help finance the costs it will incur closing down seven factories and axing 20,000 jobs worldwide.
According to the Nikkei, the company has placed its headquarters in Yokohama on the list of assets it might sell by the end of March 2026.
Nissan’s HQ is located on the banks on the Katabira River, and is only a few minutes walk from Yokohama station. Thanks to its prime location, it is estimated to be worth around ¥100 billion (A$1.07 billion).

The current HQ was opened in 2009 when then-CEO Carlos Ghosn relocated the company’s headquarters from Tokyo back to its spiritual home in Yokohama. The building contains an extensive gallery showcasing some of the automaker’s most iconic models, race cars, and concepts.
It’s unclear if Nissan plans to move out of the current headquarters, or if it will lease it back. So-called lease back arrangements are common for companies undergoing financial stress, or wishing to gain a pot cash to fund certain projects.
Money raised by the ***** of the building and property would be used to pay for restructuring costs related to Nissan’s upcoming plant closures and workforce reduction.
The automaker said restructuring costs are expected to cost ¥60 billion (A$640 million) in this current financial year alone.

Nissan has been skating on thin financial ice for the last year-and-a-bit. Earlier this month it announced a loss of ¥670.9 billion (A$7.1 billion) for the financial year ending March 2025.
In response new Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa unveiled a recovery plan dubbed Re:Nissan, which will see the company reduce its factory count from 17 to 10, and cut its global workforce by 15 per cent or 20,000 people, both by March 2028.
A recent report indicates plants in Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Argentina and India are facing the axe. The company’s plant in the ***, which produces the Qashqai and Juke, has been ruled safe, and the head of Nissan Oceania is “quietly optimistic” about the long-term future of Nissan’s parts factory in Dandenong, Victoria.
As part of the company’s latest turnaround plan, Nissan will renegotiate its deals with suppliers, cut down on platforms, and reduce development times.
It has also setup a cost-cutting “transformation office” with an initial staff of 300 experts who have been “empowered to make cost decisions”. On top of this development of vehicles and technology due after March 2027 has been paused in order to allocate 3000 people to find more savings.

Deputies shoot, kill ‘bizarre’ armed man minutes after apparent gator attack in lake
Deputies shoot, kill ‘bizarre’ armed man minutes after apparent gator attack in lake
The Brief
Polk County deputies shot Timothy Schulz, 42, on Monday morning, according to Sheriff Grady Judd.
PCSO says Schulz swam across a lake before deputies arrived, then charged at deputies with garden shears before trying to take a gun from a patrol vehicle.
Schulz died while the deputies were not injured, according to Judd.
LAKELAND, Fla. – Sheriff Grady Judd says Polk County deputies shot and killed an armed man who was attacked by an alligator while swimming across a lake, then charged at the deputies with a pair of garden shears before trying to grab a gun from a patrol vehicle.
Timeline
Judd says deputies got a call from the RaceTrac off SR 37 shortly before 6 a.m. Monday, with the caller telling dispatchers that a man was acting “bizarre” and “asking to call his son.” Deputies searched for him, but he had left the scene.
Nearly two hours later, at 7:43 a.m., according to Judd, another caller said a man was swimming in a lake that’s known to have a lot of gators. A witness told PCSO that they tried to give the man a life preserver, but he wouldn’t take it.
Pictured: Sheriff Grady Judd speaks at a news conference on May 26, 2025.
Judd says that when deputies arrived, the man – later identified as Timothy Schulz, 42 – had gotten out of the water and grabbed a pair of garden shears, then used a brick to try and break into a vehicle in the area in the area of West Lake Clark Court near Lakeland.
Schulz charged at the deputies while carrying the shears, according to Judd, at which point he was tased twice. Judd says Schulz then climbed into the passenger side of a running patrol vehicle and tried to grab a gun from its holder.
That’s when Judd says deputies opened fire multiple times, killing Schulz.
No deputies were injured, according to Judd.
What they’re saying
At a news conference on Monday, Judd said it appeared that Schulz’s right arm had been bitten by a gator while he was in the lake.
“His conduct was outrageous. It was bizarre,” Judd said.
Judd added that Schulz has a long criminal history consisting of many arrests for meth, and he had just gotten out of jail on May 20.
“This is crazy stuff. You know it’s got to be true. You can’t make it up,” Judd said.
