MLG Oz secures first contract with Rio Tinto
MLG Oz secures first contract with Rio Tinto
Kalgoorlie-Boulder mining services firm MLG Oz has expanded its operations, securing its first-ever contract with global giant Rio Tinto.
MLG told the *********** Securities Exchange on Monday the contract was for the provision of bulk haulage and site services at the Western Turner Syncline Mine in the Pilbara.
The company said revenue from the 12-month contract was expected to be about $20 million.
MLG said it would provide off-road bulk ore haulage services, material loading, rock breaking, unloading, stockpile management and road maintenance services.
It was the company’s first supply agreement with Rio, establishing what MLG hoped would be a positive, long-term relationship.
MLG managing director Murray Leahy said Rio had been actively reviewing his company’s approach and performance standards to assess its broader capability to deliver services in the Pilbara.
“In particular, they have been focused on the efficiencies that can be gained through MLG’s hub and spoke delivery model,” he said.
“As a proud WA company, continuing to expand our services beyond our heartland of the WA Goldfields, MLG is delighted to have been selected as a supplier to Rio.
“We warmly acknowledge Rio’s commitment to support local businesses and look forward to continuing to evolve and grow our profile in the Pilbara region.”

North Korea says US space shield is ‘nuclear war scenario’
North Korea says US space shield is ‘nuclear war scenario’
SEOUL (Reuters) -North Korea’s foreign ministry has criticised the U.S. Golden Dome missile defense shield project as a “very dangerous threatening initiative”, state media said on Tuesday.
U.S. President Donald Trump on May 20 said he had picked a design for the Golden Dome missile defense system and named a leader of the ambitious $175 billion program.
The Golden Dome plan “is a typical product of ‘America first’, the height of self-righteousness, arrogance, high-handed and arbitrary practice, and is an outer space nuclear war scenario,” said the Institute for American Studies of North Korea’s foreign ministry, according to state KCNA news agency.
The aim is for Golden Dome to leverage a network of hundreds of satellites circling the globe with sophisticated sensors and interceptors to knock out incoming enemy missiles after they lift off from countries like China, Iran, North Korea or Russia.
China last week said it is “seriously concerned” about the project and called for Washington to abandon its development.

Ex-DR Congo president returns to the country, party says
Ex-DR Congo president returns to the country, party says
Former Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila is back in the country for the first time in two years, having arrived in the rebel-held eastern city of Goma, spokespeople for the rebels as well as a youth leader from his party have said.
Kabila’s arrival comes after senators stripped him of his immunity over alleged support for the Rwanda-backed M23 rebel group which has been fighting the Congolese army.
Kabila, who has previously denied links with the rebel group, recently decried the justice system , alleging it was “exploited for political ends”.
The 53-year-old led DR Congo for 18 years, after succeeding his father Laurent, who was shot dead in 2001.
He handed power to President Félix Tshisekedi in 2019, but they later fell out.
Speaking to the BBC, a Goma youth leader for Kabila’s People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD), confirmed earlier reports from the M23 that Kabila had arrived in Goma.
“Kabila should be allowed full access to the country. For us it is like a father has returned to his children,” Innocent Mirimo told BBC Swahili.
Last month, the PPRD was banned by the authorities in the capital, Kinshasa, who accused of having an “ambiguous attitude” towards the capture of Congolese territory by the M23.
In a message on X, rebel spokesperson Lawrence Kanyuka welcomed Kabila to Goma saying: “We wish him a pleasant stay in the liberated areas.”
A similar message was shared by another spokesperson, ****** Ngoma.
The Congolese authorities accuse Kabila of war crimes and treason, alleging there is a “substantial body of documents, testimony and material facts” that link the former leader to the M23.
In a now-deleted YouTube video released on Friday, Kabila called the Congolese government a “dictatorship”, and said there was a “decline of democracy” in the country.
Congolese government spokesperson, Patrick Muyaya, rejected Kabila’s allegations, saying he had “nothing to offer the country”.
Fighting between the Congolese army and the M23 first broke out in 2012 and ended in a peace deal the following year. But in 2021 the group took up arms again, saying the promises made in the deal had been broken.
Since the beginning of this year, the M23 has made major advances in the mineral-rich east, including taking Goma in January.
The conflict has led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians in the last few months.
Kabila has been living outside the country, in South Africa, for the past two years. At the beginning of last month he said he would be returning to help find a solution to the conflict.

A simple guide to the 2025 presidential election
A simple guide to the 2025 presidential election
Getty Images
The snap vote follows the impeachment of former president Yoon Suk Yeol
South Korea will elect a new president on 3 June to replace Yoon Suk Yeol, who was removed from office for placing the country under martial law for six hours in December.
The winner will be tasked with managing the political and economic fallout of Yoon’s move, which plunged the country in deep turmoil and highlighted deep divisions in society.
The election is also being held against the backdrop of long-running challenges such as the threat from North Korea and addressing the world’s lowest birth rate.
Here is how the East Asian nation of about 52 million people will choose its new leader for the next five years.
Why is South Korea holding a presidential election?
Yoon was supposed to serve as president until 2027, but his term ended in disgrace.
He shocked the nation by declaring martial law on 3 December, citing threats from “anti-state forces” and North Korea – but it soon became clear that he was spurred by his own political troubles.
A week later, he was impeached by parliament. On 4 April, a constitutional court upheld his impeachment and removed him from office permanently, setting the stage for a snap presidential election within 60 days, as required by law.
In the five turbulent months since Yoon’s martial law, the country has had three acting presidents, the most recent being Lee Ju-ho, the labour minister who assumed the role one month before the election.
Lee replaced Prime Minister Han Duck Soo, who himself was impeached just weeks after taking over from Yoon in an acting capacity. Finance minister Choi Sang-mok was acting president before Han was reinstated in March.
What are the big issues in South Korea’s election?
Yoon’s martial law laid bare the deep political division between supporters of Yoon and his conservative People Power Party (PPP), and those backing opposition leader Lee Jae-myung and the liberal Democratic Party.
It also shook public confidence in the economy at a critical time, when US President Donald Trump has unleashed his tariffs on America’s trading partners, with South Korean goods facing a 25% levy.
The new president will then have the immediate task of addressing these concerns.
But there are persistent challenges, such as relations with North Korea. While the start of 2025 been relatively uneventful, the year before had seen heightened tensions as both sides sent balloons and drones carrying propaganda materials across the border.
On a broader scale, the new leader must balance Seoul’s relations between its biggest trading partner, Beijing and its most important security ally, Washington.
There is also the task of arresting the country’s declining birth rate, which is among the lowest in the world.
In 2024, the country’s fertility rate, or the average number of babies a woman is expected to have in her lifetime, was at 0.75. While it ticked up slightly from the previous year, it remains far below the 2.1 needed to maintain the country’s population of 51 million.
Who could the next South Korean president be?
Polls have placed Lee Jae-myung of the liberal Democratic Party as the frontrunner among six candidates, followed by Kim Moon-soo, the candidate for the conservative PPP.
Lee, who lost to Yoon by a razor-thin margin in 2022, is hailed by his supporters as a working class hero. He worked in a factory before he became a human rights lawyer and politician. He has promised to establish a “Real Republic of Korea” with jobs and a fair society.
Kim, a former labour minister, has positioned himself as a president for the economy, promising the creation of a business-friendly environment and job creation.
The other candidates are Lee Jun-seok of the New Reform Party, Kwon Young-guk of the Democratic Labor Party and two independents – Hwang Kyo-ahn and Song Jin- ho.
For the first time in 18 years, there is no woman running for president. The first woman to run for president of the country was Hong Suk-Ja in 1987, but she withdrew before the vote. The election in 2012 saw four female candidates stand.
When is election day and when are results announced?
The election is scheduled on 3 June and voting precincts will be open from 06:00 local time (22:00 GMT) to 20:00. South Koreans overseas were allowed to vote early from 20 to 25 May.
Results are expected to come in after polls close and the winner will likely be known early the next day.
When Yoon defeated Lee in 2022, he was proclaimed the winner nine hours after the close of voting, or at 04:40 the morning after election day.
That was closest presidential contest in the country’s history, which saw Yoon win by a 0.73% difference in votes.
The new president will take office immediately and unlike many of his predecessors, will not have the advantage of a formal transition from Yoon.
What will happen to impeached former president Yoon Suk Yeol?
Yoon faces trial for an insurrection charge that stemmed from his martial law declaration.
In January this year he became South Korea’s first sitting president to be arrested after investigators scaled barricades and cut through barbed wire to take him into custody. He was relased from detention weeks later on a technicality.
He was recently indicted separately for abuse of power.
Before the election, Yoon quit his party in what analysts say is an attempt to shore up the chances of PPP standard bearer Kim Moon-soo.

Fiona Pender, 25, was seven months pregnant when she disappeared
The disappearance of a pregnant Irish woman almost three decades ago has been upgraded to a ******* inquiry.
A new search is under way to try to find the remains of Fiona Pender, 25, who went missing in County Offaly.
She was last seen at about 06:00 on 23 August 1996 at her flat on Church Street, Tullamore.
Gardaí (Irish police) have now announced that their investigation into Ms Pender’s ******* has been reclassified as a ******* investigation based on the entirety of the information available to investigators.
She went missing in a decade when a number of other young women also disappeared without trace in the same province of Leinster.
But Garda sources have always indicated that they do not believe her disappearance was linked to any of the other cases.
An Garda Síochána
On Monday, gardaí confirmed that this missing person investigation has been re-classified as a ******* investigation
A new search is also under way on open ground close to Killeigh, about 5km from Tullamore.
Gardaí say the area will be subjected to excavation and technical and forensic examinations over the coming days.
Garda teams have conducted significant inquiries and what they describe as a sustained investigation over the last 28 years in an effort to establish what happened to Ms Pender.
During this time, investigators say they have collated thousands of documents and reports, taken more than 300 statements of evidence and retained a number of exhibits.
Extensive searches have been carried out and five people have been arrested and detained in connection with this investigation, according to police.
Ms Pender was described as 5’5″ in height, with long blonde hair and she was wearing bright coloured clothing and white leggings when she went missing.
She was seven months pregnant and was said to be looking forward to the birth at the time of her disappearance.
No one has been brought to justice for her disappearance.
RTÉ
A search is under way on open ground close to Killeigh, about 5km from Tullamore
Gardaí have renewed their appeal to anyone who may have any information about the case and who has not contacted investigators to come forward.
They have also appealed for help from anyone who may have previously come forward but felt at the time they could not provide police with all the information they had about the disappearance of Ms Pender.
The Republic of Ireland’s justice minister, Jim O’Callaghan, said he was briefed on further developments in the case on Monday, according to Irish broadcaster RTÉ.
Speaking in Limerick, O’Callaghan said Ms Pender’s family have “gone through a terrible time over the past 28 years or so”.
“I think it’s incumbent upon anyone who has information to bring that information to the gardaí so that this investigation can be concluded,” he added.

Harvey bowling superstar Cam Wellington takes out top spot as WA’s under-18s male bowler of the year
Harvey’s Cam Wellington has won another gold medal to cap the end of his under-18s bowls career.
Hot off the heels of winning the bowls under-18s State Singles in April, Harvey’s upstart bowling superstar Cam Wellington has taken out the top spot as the Juniper under-18s WA male bowler of the year.
The awards ceremony took place at Optus Stadium last Friday with WA’s top bowlers across a range of categories all awarded.
Wellington won the most outstanding under-18 male bowler alongside Osborne Park’s Sophie Hays taking out the most outstanding under-18 female bowler.
Speaking to the Reporter after his State championship win earlier this year, Wellington said he was hopeful to end his under-18s career with a win at the award ceremony.
Turning 18 in the coming months, this was the final opportunity Wellington had to take away an award in the under-18s category.
After his State Championship win Wellington said he would continue to develop his skill as his bowling career progressed.
“Next is the open competition, and hopefully I can make my way from the bottom back to the top,” he said.
Though Wellington has significant experience competing in the *********** Open, his next entry into the competition will be the first time in the over-18s competition with the ultimate goal of playing for the *********** bowling team.
“I’ll just have to work even harder than what I have been,” he said.

Kasatkina triumphs for her new ‘unbelievable country’
Kasatkina triumphs for her new ‘unbelievable country’
Daria Kasatkina sounded just a mite emotional as she reflected how she used to be so envious of those lucky folk who lived in Australia.
The flag was “beautiful”, the country “unbelievable”, the people “so welcoming”, she used to think.
And this was the day, she concluded at Roland Garros, when she felt proud and honoured to be playing tennis not just as an ***********, but an *********** winner.
“Couldn’t believe that one day I could call myself an ***********. You never know where life will bring you,” was the 28-year-old’s slightly incredulous take on a day when she overcame all the added stress that came with wanting to shine for her new adopted nation with a maiden green-and-gold grand slam win to repay them.
It came the hard way for the 17th seed, a tough battle to overcome the steely Katerina Siniakova, the Czech world No.1 doubles exponent, 6-1 3-6 6-2, in the first round of the French Open on Monday.
It was just under two months ago that Kasatkina, who’s not been back to Russia for three years since coming out as gay in 2022 and since courageously venting her disapproval in public about the invasion of Ukraine, revealed she would represent Australia after gaining permanent residency.
They have been two “intense” months, she admitted. She’s still not had the chance to visit her adopted country because of the hectic tour schedule but reckons she can’t wait to look for her new Melbourne home once her passport has been sorted.
And while her recent form has dipped on court amid all the fuss, she has been blown away by the support she’s received.
“Of course, changing the flag now, I want to be better, I want to bring success being an ***********. I think that’s a little bit of pressure, but I think it’s good. It’s also a motivation,” she explained.
“I knew today’s match wasn’t going to be easy, but I’m really happy the way I was able to fight and how I managed the nerves, the tough situations in the second set, and then improved in the third set. Yeah, super proud of myself.”
Asked about playing under a new flag, the former French Open semi-finalist, who’s set up a second-round clash with French wildcard, world No.100 Leolia Jeanjean, beamed: “Well, it’s a beautiful flag, first of all, honestly.
“It’s good to have a little tension, which gives you the adrenaline, helps you through the match. But when it’s a bit too much, that’s not good.
“So I was trying to balance this moment. I think I did it pretty good. I mean, to play my first grand slam under *********** flag, it’s big honour. Yeah, just super happy and proud to also win the first match.
“The main thing is that I can live my life now freely and happy. With that, the tennis will come. I’m just really thankful to Australia to give me this opportunity.”
Asked why she chose Australia amid all the places that might have embraced her, she smiled: “Because it’s unbelievable country. Simple.
“This country was always amazing me, how the people are just getting along with each other so good, how welcoming it is. Nature and everything.
“I mean, me personally, I feel so comfortable there every time coming. Every year there.”
And could embracing Australia have just given her extra reason to dream?
Because after all that’s happened, she explained, “I just feel free with the wings.”

EU ‘fully committed’ to reaching US trade deal: commissioner
EU ‘fully committed’ to reaching US trade deal: commissioner
The European Union remains “fully committed” to reaching a trade agreement with the United States, the bloc’s trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic said Monday following calls with top US officials.
The contacts come after US President Donald Trump threatened Friday, but then postponed, to hit EU goods with a huge tariff, voicing frustration that talks with the EU were “going nowhere”.
Sefcovic said in a post on X that he had “good calls” with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
“We continue to stay in constant contact,” he added.
Trump has called for eliminating the EU’s surplus in goods trade with the United States.
On Friday, he threatened to impose 50-percent tariffs on the bloc from June 1, sending markets into a tailspin.
The US president had already hit the bloc with multiple waves of tariffs, including 25-percent duties on cars, steel and aluminium.
The European Commission has been leading talks on behalf of the 27-country bloc in search of a mutually beneficial deal with Washington — though with little to show so far.
But Trump agreed Sunday to delay the heftier levies on the EU until July 9 after a phone call with EU chief Ursula von der Leyen.
While the dollar remained under pressure Monday, European markets rallied over news of the delayed tariffs.
“The stock market seems to dance to Trump’s tune: first a threat, then a pullback, quickly followed by a rebound as speculative investors anticipate a concession from the US president,” said Jochen Stanzl, chief market analyst at CMC Markets trading platform.
European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde on Monday criticised Trump’s “terrible language” about the European Union, in response to his comments that the bloc was formed to “******” the United States.
“It’s against history. And it’s certainly not the purpose of this region,” she said, urging negotiations on a deal.
The EU remains subject to a 10-percent tariff that Trump imposed last month on imports from nearly every country around the world.
Brussels is consulting with member states on plans to impose tariffs on US goods worth nearly 100 billion euros ($113 billion) if negotiations fail to produce a deal.
The US trade deficit in goods with the European Union was $236 billion in 2024.
But when taking account of services, where US firms are dominant, the European Commission calculates that the overall US trade deficit stood at $57 billion.
Sefcovic has said that the European Union could cover that figure by buying US liquefied natuaral gas and some farm products.

Stock market today: Live updates
Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange on May 21, 2025.
NYSE
Stock futures jumped Monday night after President Donald Trump said over the holiday weekend that he agreed to delay tariffs of 50% on the European Union.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures added 450 points points, or 1.1%. S&P 500 futures climbed 1.2%, while Nasdaq 100 futures popped 1.4%.
Trump on Sunday said that he would push back the 50% levy deadline on the EU to July 9 following a request from Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission. That comes after Trump last week proposed an import tax of 50% on the EU beginning June 1.
“While the delay in EU tariffs has provided a short-term boost to futures markets, underlying concerns about trade relations and upcoming economic indicators continue to weigh on investor sentiment,” said Naeem Aslam, investing chief at Zaye Capital Markets, in a note to clients.
Monday night’s action follows a losing week on Wall Street. The Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite all slid more than 2% as Trump’s calls for tariffs on the EU, along with Apple, concerned investors. The U.S. stock market was dark on Monday in recognition of Memorial Day.
Investors will watch for economic data on durable goods, housing and consumer confidence on Tuesday. They’ll also monitor commentary from Minneapolis Federal Reserve President Neel Kashkari and New York Fed President John Williams.
Traders will also follow earnings from Okta due after the bell, followed by companies such as Nvidia, Macy’s and Costco later in the week. More than 95% of S&P 500 companies have reported this earnings season and almost 78% have surpassed analyst expectations, according to FactSet.

Emmanuel Macron: French President says wife ‘joking’ after push in the face exiting plane
Emmanuel Macron: French President says wife ‘joking’ after push in the face exiting plane
French President Emmanuel Macron has had to fend off some unwanted attention from his wife Brigitte as she appeared to hit him in the face as the pair exited a plane after landing in Vietnam.
The uncomfortable moment has been caught by TV crews and photographers in the open doorway of a jet, with Mr Macron appearing raising his hands to swipe away his wife’s hand as she leaned in to open-hand him in the head.
Mr Macron has played down the moment that has gone viral, with the French press questioning whether the plane ride to Asia may have grown heated between the two.
The President’s minders have since described the incident as a “moment of togetherness” as the pair decompressed after a long journey.
Images beamed out around the world appear to show his wife, Brigitte, pushing her husband away with both hands on his face before they disembarked from their plane to start a tour of Southeast Asia.
The moment quickly made headlines in France, with media trying to decipher the interaction that cameras spotted through the just-opened door of the plane.
The headline of a story on the website of the daily Le Parisien newspaper asked: “Slap or ‘squabble’? The images of Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron disembarking in Vietnam trigger a lot of comment.”
Macron later told reporters that the couple — married since 2007 after meeting at the high school where he was a student and she was a teacher — were simply joking around.

“We are squabbling and, rather, joking with my wife,” he said, adding that the incident was being overblown into “a sort of geo-planetary catastrophe.”
In video taken by The Associated Press as the Macrons arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Sunday, a uniformed man can be seen pulling open the plane door and revealing the president standing inside, dressed in a suit and talking to someone who wasn’t visible.
Two arms – in red sleeves – reached out and pushed Macron away, with one hand covering his mouth and part of his nose while the other was on his jaw. The French leader recoiled, turning his head away. Then, apparently realising that he was on camera, he broke into a smile and gave a little wave.
In subsequent images, Macron and his wife, wearing a red jacket, appeared at the top of the stairs. He offered an arm but she didn’t take it. They walked down the carpeted stairs side by side.
The French leader argued that the images and reaction to them offered a cautionary tale about disinformation in the social media age.
He said that in recent weeks, other videos had been used to circulate made-up stories that he’d taken ******** with the leaders of Britain and Germany – when, in fact, he said he’d just been picking up a tissue – and that he’d had a muscular encounter with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, when they’d been shaking and holding hands.
“Everyone needs to calm down,” he said.
His office also downplayed the interaction.
“It was a moment where the president and his wife were decompressing one last time before the start of the trip by horsing around. It’s a moment of complicity. It was all that was needed to give ammunition to the conspiracy theorists,” his office said.
Brigitte Macron was Brigitte Auzière, a married mother of three children, when they met at his high school. A teacher, she supervised the drama club where Emmanuel Macron, a literature lover, was a member.
He moved to Paris for his last year of high school, but promised to marry Brigitte. She later moved to the French capital to join him and divorced before they finally married.

Colorado man sentenced to 210 years in prison for abusing children at orphanage
Colorado man sentenced to 210 years in prison for abusing children at orphanage
A Colorado man who founded a Haitian orphanage four decades ago is set to spend the rest of his life in prison after he was convicted of *********, physically, and emotionally abusing multiple children under his organization’s care.
Michael Karl Geilenfeld, 73, of Littleton, was sentenced to 210 years in prison after a federal jury found him guilty of several counts committed at the St. Joseph’s Home for Boys in the Caribbean, the Department of Justice announced on May 23. He was arrested in Colorado back in January 2024.
Geilenfeld was convicted last February of one count of traveling in foreign commerce with the intent to engage in illicit ******* conduct, as well as six counts of engaging in illicit ******* conduct in a foreign place, the Justice Department confirmed in a news release.
Each of the six counts of engaging in illicit ******* conduct relates to six separate victims who were children at the orphanage between 2005 and 2010. All six victims, now adults, testified against Geilenfeld as well as other former child victims who were not subject to the related charges.
“For decades, Geilenfeld used his position of trust and access to exploit vulnerable children under the guise of humanitarian work,” FBI Assistant Director Jose A. Perez said in a news release. “We are grateful to those victims who came forward to report their abuse. The FBI is committed to pursuing those who commit crimes against children no matter where they occur or how long ago they were committed.”
USA TODAY reached out to attorneys listed as Geilenfeld’s representatives for comment.
‘Abuse of some of the most vulnerable children in the world is intolerable’
In 1985, Geilenfeld founded the St. Joseph’s Home for Boys, which he operated for more than 20 years, according to the Justice Department. He repeatedly traveled back and forth from the U.S to Haiti, where he ********* abused the children at the orphanage entrusted to his care, prosecutors said.
Geilenfeld also physically and emotionally abused the children in the home through physical assault and other forms of punishment, prosecutors said. Victims and witnesses testified that Geilenfeld implemented manipulation tactics to ensure his orphanage was financially supported.
“The defendant’s sustained *******, physical, and emotional abuse of some of the most vulnerable children in the world is intolerable,” said Matthew Galeotti, head of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division.
How to protect minors from ******* abuse: The predator is usually someone you know
Victims detailed abuse during court testimonies
One of the men who testified in the case said he was 12 years old when Geilengeld abused him, the Miami Herald reported.
The man testified that Geilenfeld brought him into his bedroom so he could “help him learn a prayer” but instead proceeded to sit him down in a chair, kiss him on the mouth, ******* his genitals and tried to have ******* relations with him, according to the Miami Herald.
Geilenfeld reportedly operated multiple orphanages in Haiti until 2014 and opened another one in the Dominican Republic, the Miami Herald reported.
In 2019, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents found photos of the victims when Geilenfeld was traveling through Miami International Airport to the Dominican Republic, court records obtained by USA TODAY show.
Investigators told the judge some of the photos showed victims in the indictment, which they said Geilenfeld planned to use to “intimidate victims to not testify against him.” It’s unclear whether the photos were ********* explicit.

Team Vitality’s 3rd Consecutive Win in Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) 2025
Team Vitality’s 3rd Consecutive Win in Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) 2025
Team Vitality performs a hot streak at Intel Extreme Masters in Dallas by winning three IEMs in 2025. Not only that, the European giants have not lost a single match starting February 2025. So it is easy to say, they are currently the best team Counter-Strike 2 can shine a spotlight on this year.
By securing the win at IEM Dallas 2025, they’ve bagged a prize of $125,000 by defeating MOUZ, formerly known as mouseesports. However, the journey wasn’t easy, and the odds were against them. Here’s the story of Team Vitality etching their name at Texas. That’s pretty far from home.
Team Vitality proves they’re rulers of Counter-Strike 2 IEM 2025 by securing three consecutive wins
Team Vitality and MOUZ faced off at the Grand Finals of IEM Dallas 2025, where the former came out victorious. However, the match wasn’t going their way as MOUZ was leading Map 1 (Dust 2) with a score of 8-11. Vitality didn’t bend down and accept their fate; rather, they pushed back harder.
From that point, Team Vitality made a solid comeback and took Map 1 with a final score of 13-11, humbling MOUZ with their unity. That one specific comeback hurt MOUZ’s morale, as they weren’t able to win a single map afterwards.
Even though the final only claims the winner through best of five maps, Vitality didn’t leave a single crumb for MOUZ. After their win on Dust 2, they consecutively took the next two maps: Mirage and Inferno. MOUZ was stuck in such a deadlock, they couldn’t reach a two-digit score later. Yes, for Mirage, the score was 13-9, and Inferno was secured with 13-8.
Sweeping the Grand Finals of IEM Dallas 2025 with a hot streak. Not only that, they’ve also been on a win streak through IEM 2025 so far, three in a row to be precise. This achievement will be remembered in esports history just like Counter-Strike 2 is doing now for being one of the longest-standing live-service games.
Of course, the powerhouse line-up containing Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire and Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut cannot go wrong. Not only that, Counter-Strike 2 IEM Dallas 2025 has crowned ZywOo the MVP, and the title speaks for itself. Can anyone challenge the kings who hold this throne of IEM? Don’t think so.

While it is known Team Vitality has been owning IEM 2025, with their Counter-Strike 2 win streaks, there’s another thing that makes this victory special. In Dallas, Texas, the European stronghold has achieved a trifecta, as they’ve won three tournaments there within a few-year span.
Vitality held the champion title at IEM Dallas in 2022, 2024, and 2025, establishing its dominance at the location. This could’ve been the team’s consecutive win; alas, ENCE took the IEM 2023 champion title by winning against MOUZ. Still, it doesn’t matter, as Vitality can try for perfection next year. Maybe Counter-Strike 2 should try for the same as well.
Coming back to 2025, Viltality surely looks strong for ESL Grand Slam Season 6. Next up, they’ll be showing up at BLAST Austin Major, which will kick off on June 3, 2025. Not only that, they’ll also compete in IEM Cologne 2025, which, if they win, will mark another hat-trick like Dallas.
What is your favorite Counter-Strike 2 esports team? Do you look forward to Team Vitality’s dominance in ESL Grand Slam Season 6? Let us know your opinions in the comments down below. We love a banter.

Aston Villa: PGMOL made ‘poor decision’ to appoint Thomas Bramall for Manchest United match – Keith Hackett
Aston Villa: PGMOL made ‘poor decision’ to appoint Thomas Bramall for Manchest United match – Keith Hackett
Professional Game Match Officials Limited made a “poor management decision” in appointing Thomas Bramall to officiate Aston Villa’s defeat by Manchester United, says former referees’ boss Keith Hackett.
Villa have complained to referees’ body PGMOL about Bramall after he made a “big mistake” in their 2-0 defeat at Manchester United on Sunday that contributed to them missing out on the Champions League.
Bramall blew for a foul when Morgan Rogers nudged the ball away from United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir before the Villa midfielder put the ball in the net.
Bramall thought Bayindir had two hands on the ball, though television footage suggested otherwise, and because he stopped play before the ball crossed the line, the video assistant referee (VAR) could not intervene.
Villa’s complaint is that “one of the most inexperienced referees in the Premier League” was appointed to such an important match.
Bramall, 35, first refereed in the Premier League in August 2022 and his games this season have largely been in either the top flight or the second tier, with 11 in the Premier League and 12 in the Championship.
Of the 10 referees appointed for Sunday’s final round of the Premier League, Bramall has officiated the second-fewest top-flight matches this season, above Lewis Smith, who took charge of his seventh game in Bournemouth’s win over Leicester.
In a response to a Talksport video on X of former Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor criticising Bramall’s performance, Hackett said PGMOL “do not learn”.
The former Premier League referee added: “Our top referee Michael Oliver was operating VAR on a game. What a poor management decision.”
Hackett, who was chief of PGMOL under its former name Professional Game Match Officials Board, also told Football Insider he “would have expected one of our top officials to have been appointed” to the Manchester United-Aston Villa match.
He added he was “surprised and disappointed” that Oliver was appointed VAR for Tottenham’s defeat by Brighton and it was “difficult to understand” why he was not picked to referee “a big game” in Sunday’s final round.
Oliver has refereed 26 Premier League matches this season, behind only Anthony Taylor – who was in charge of Chelsea’s win at Nottingham Forest – on 31.

What happened in Seaside Heights? 73 arrested, three stabbed over Memorial Day weekend
What happened in Seaside Heights? 73 arrested, three stabbed over Memorial Day weekend
SEASIDE HEIGHTS – Seventy-three people were arrested here Memorial Day weekend during a 72-hour ******* marred by fights, unruly crowds and three stabbings that prompted police to shut down the boardwalk May 26.
The boardwalk reopened later in the day, following the arrests of 52 adults and 21 juveniles from 6 a.m. May 23 to 6 a.m. May 26, said Detective Steve Korman, police spokesman.
One of the arrested adults was charged with possessing a firearm, he said.
Five minutes after the last of three reported stabbings in that time *******, Police Chief Thomas Boyd shut down the boardwalk at 12:05 a.m. on May 26, “taking a proactive approach to ensure public safety,” Korman said.
None of the stabbings were fatal, and none of the victims cooperated in a law-enforcement investigation, he said.
Also during the 72-hour *******, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in neighboring Seaside Park and flown by helicopter to a medical facility, Korman said.
The holiday weekend brought approximately 100,000 visitors to the borough, Korman said.
“The last few days have been mayhem in this town,” said Sarah Frailey, a bartender at EJ’s Tap House on the boardwalk.
“It’s normally not like this,” Frailey said. “There’s a ton of kids here over Memorial Day weekend, more than the usual in the last few years, a lot of fights on the boardwalk.
“Kids were out of control,” she said. “It’s like the Jersey Shore show.”
After large groups of unruly teens created havoc on the boardwalk on Memorial Day weekends in the recent past, borough officials this year put in place plans to increase police presence and enforce a curfew on minors from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
“There’s supposed to be a curfew for kids who are underage, who aren’t supposed to be on the boardwalk after 10 p.m.,” Frailey said. “But I think the last two nights, Friday and Saturday, there was no way they could contain that in a sense, and then they finally had enough after last (Sunday) night and did an evacuation on the whole boardwalk.”
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said police did not shut down any businesses on the boardwalk.
Billhimer said detectives from his office were in Seaside Heights all weekend to assist borough police.
“While I am disappointed by the conduct of some of the people who came to visit Seaside Heights this weekend, the Seaside Heights Police Department and all of the assisting agencies, by and large, did a great job this weekend ensuring the safety of the majority of our visitors and our locals,” Billhimer said.
Also assisting borough police over the weekend were staff from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office and Brick police, including K9 units from both agencies, Korman said.
Among the numerous calls police responded to were the three stabbings.
The first occurred about 8 p.m. on May 24 on the ocean block of Webster Avenue, Korman said. There, officers found a 21-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to his back, the detective said. The victim was evaluated by Tri-Boro First Aid Squad and flown by helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, he said.
About 6:45 p.m. on May 25, officers responded to a report of another stabbing at Sherman Avenue and Ocean Terrace, where they located a 22-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to the hip, Korman said. The victim was evaluated by Tri-Boro First Aid and taken by ambulance to Jersey Shore, he said.
About 12:00 a.m. on May 26, police responded to Kearney Avenue and Ocean Terrace for a report of a third stabbing. There, they found an 18-year-old man with a stab wound to the right thigh, Korman said. He, too, was evaluated by Tri-Boro First Aid and taken by ambulance to Jersey Shore.
Five minutes later, the police chief ordered the boardwalk shut down, Korman said.
All three stabbing victims were “uncooperative and signed off an any further police assistance/investigation,” Korman said.
About 1 a.m. on May 26, police were called to a fight at Grant Avenue and Ocean Terrace. During the police response, Patrolman James Hans arrested Byron Czaplicki, 21, of Beachwood, and charged him with possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice, Korman said.
Billhimer pledged continued support to Seaside Heights’ police chief and Mayor Anthony E. Vaz.
“We will work with Seaside Heights and all of our shore towns to make sure we are continually making improvements in strategic planning for these holiday weekends,” Billhimer said. “We will not tolerate lawless behavior anywhere here in Ocean County.”

Fans Claim Only ‘DPS Instalockers’ Want This Overwatch 2 Feature in the Game
Fans Claim Only ‘DPS Instalockers’ Want This Overwatch 2 Feature in the Game
It’s been a few months since the release of Marvel Rivals, and it’s still the hottest title in the hero-shooter genre. You’ll struggle to find a single player who has bad words about it, as developer NetEase Games has done an incredible job when it comes to new additions and balance updates.
However, there’s a growing rift between the Marvel Rival players. Why is that the case? Well, it’s all due to the calls for a feature that is familiar to Overwatch 2 veterans: role ******. Some fans argue that it can elevate the hero-shooter to new heights, while others believe that it will only lead to toxicity, especially from DPS players.
Marvel Rivals community is split over the role ****** system
It’s not the first time Marvel Rivals players have clashed over the role ****** feature. Since the hero shooter’s launch, it has remained a hotly debated topic. As more heroes have joined the roster, a significant portion of the community has been calling for the implementation of a role ****** system.
However, on r/MarvelRivals, players are still not convinced about a role ****** feature. It’s felt that players advocating for the inclusion of an Overwatch 2-style role ****** in Marvel Rivals aren’t motivated by teamwork or balance; all they want to do is insta-lock DPS characters and force others to work with them.
Players in the comments agree that adding a role ****** to Marvel Rivals will wreck casual matchmaking and encourage toxicity in the hero-shooter. Most of them believe that DPS instalockers do not care about their team losing or winning, as they simply want to play their one-trick hero. This will hurt the hero-shooter as its gameplay is all about playing with your team.

The role ****** system in Overwatch 2 opened Pandora’s box, which is still causing chaos to this date. Blizzard introduced the feature to push for stable team compositions and reduce player frustration. However, the only thing that happened was that ****** times for various roles skyrocketed. Players got burned out and wanted to delete the game. We don’t need a similar thing to happen in Marvel Rivals.
NetEase Games has no plans to add role ****** in Marvel Rivals
The developers want to maintain player freedom in Marvel Rivals. (Image via NetEase Games)
A few months ago, while chatting with Dot Esports, creative director Guangyun “Guangguang” Chen stated that NetEase Games has no plans of adding a role-****** system to Marvel Rivals.
According to the developer, NetEase wants to offer players numerous team compositions with various team-up skills and their own designs. A role ****** system will lock players to a specific role or hero, and that’s something that doesn’t sit right with the development team.
Chen noted that based on all the data NetEase has gathered so far in the game, many different team compositions have emerged in competitive play. NetEase is satisfied with these results and wants to maintain the freedom players have to choose the heroes they want.
With that said, would you like to see a role-****** system in Marvel Rivals? Let us know in the comments below.

Witnesses describe car driving into crowds at Liverpool FC parade
Witnesses describe car driving into crowds at Liverpool FC parade
Witnesses have described the “horrendous” moment a car “rammed” into crowds of people who were attending Liverpool FC’s victory parade following their Premier League win.
Merseyside Police said a number of pedestrians were hit by the vehicle in Water Street, Liverpool just after 18:00 BST.
A 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area was arrested, police said.
One eyewitness, BBC reporter Matt Cole, said the car missed him and his family “by literally inches”.
“We had just moments before watched fireworks going off, the celebrations of the Liverpool bus passing us on the Strand,” he said.
He said an ambulance had just made its way through the “dense” crowd he was part of on Water Street, when “there were screams ahead of us and suddenly this dark blue car just came through the crowd”.
“It just wasn’t stopping – I managed to grab my daughter who was with me and jump out of the way.
“It missed myself and my family by literally inches.”
He said the ambulance acted like a “natural barrier… that slowed the car down”, but that it had “no intention – it appeared – of stopping”. He added that the car looked to be travelling at “more than 20 [mph]”, but that he could not be sure it was not 30mph.
“As it passed me, it was being chased by a group of men who were trying to bang on the side of it and throw things at it,” he explained, adding that the rear windshield had been “completely smashed in”.
Having moved to safety down a side street, he saw police “running from all over, ambulances, police vans… more and more ambulances, more and more police vans – at one point then an entire squad of armed police cars stopped and people jumped out with rifles and again big medical packs on and began running towards the scene of the incident.”
He said his initial assumption was that the driver just wanted to “barge through crowds because they didn’t want to wait”.
“But suddenly then, the speed registered and the shouts of the people and the screams of the people registered, and at that point, yeah, adrenaline very much just kicks in”.
Harry Rashid, 48, from Solihull, was at the parade with his wife and two young daughters when he witnessed the car pull up before it “just rammed into all the people at the side of us”.
He told PA news agency: “It was extremely fast. Initially, we just heard the pop, pop, pop of people just being knocked off the bonnet of a car…. I saw people on lying on the ground, people unconscious.
“It was horrendous. So horrendous.”
Another witness, Mike Maddra, was walking with a group of friends, when he saw a car “speeding up” and hitting pedestrians.
He said the “car turned left, mounted pavement, come towards us and runs towards the buildings”.
He added that he thought he saw two people being hit, and that “it looked deliberate”.
“It has just ruined the day really,” he said.
