And Borrello says the national team are reaping the rewards of their 10-day camp in Abu Dhabi as they prepare for their qualification campaign’s defining double-header against Japan and Saudi Arabia. Victory against Japan at Optus Stadium would all but clinch a spot at the 2026 tournament for Australia, barring a thrashing against Saudi Arabia in their final group game in Jeddah. Even a point against the Blue Samurai next Thursday might be enough to secure qualification if Saudi Arabia are unable to beat Bahrain a few hours later. With the Socceroos nursing a three-point lead over Saudi Arabia in the race for the final qualifying spot, the pair’s clash looms as decisive — but Borrello said the focus was all on game one in WA. “The mindset is, we play Japan, and that’s it for now until Japan’s done; then we go play Saudi,” he said. “It’s just taking it one game at a time. It sounds cliche, but it drowns out the noise, so our focus is Japan right now and then we’ll reassess where we are for Saudi.” It has been almost a week since the Socceroos assembled in Abu Dhabi and Borrello said the opportunity to have such a long lead-in under coach Tony Popovic before the two pivotal games was helpful. “How often do you have the chance to have this extended ******* of time with a team before leading into World Cup qualifiers or a tournament?” he said. “We’re pretty lucky in that sense and the boss is very specific to detail. We’re getting that drummed into us now, the style of play, because obviously it’s a new bunch of boys. “We’ve got players returning that haven’t been a part of the squads for a while and we’ve got new players as well, so it’s a big combination of staying fit, understanding the style that we want to play leading into Japan and the Saudi games. “We’ve had time to sit down and analyse how it is that he (Popovic) wants us to play and when we step out on the pitch, it takes maybe one or two days to understand the patterns of play. He said on March 22, his family ran into the street in Beit Lahiya during an evacuation order and was hit by a shell. Mohammed, his uncle, and his six-year-old cousin were killed, he said. Al-Ghalban said he hopes to go abroad for treatment and get prosthetics to be able to walk again. “Before the injury, I was always praying and saying, ‘God, if you want me to get injured, not martyred, don’t let my injury be in my legs’. Because the sports that I do, playing soccer and playing gymnastics – all of this, my legs used to help me. But that’s God’s fate, praise God, my legs have gone to heaven before me.” Israel effectively ended a January ceasefire agreement with ****** and renewed its military campaign in Gaza on March 18. The Israeli military says it goes to great lengths to avoid civilian casualties. The conflict has devastated Gaza, killing more than 53,000 people, many of them civilians, according to the enclave’s health authorities. What you may have missed in Berkshire’s last annual meeting under Buffett What you may have missed in Berkshire’s last annual meeting under Buffett It’s confirmed Warren Buffett won’t take the stage at Berkshire Hathaway ‘s annual meeting next year, with the Oracle of Omaha set to step down as CEO at the end of 2025. The investment sage, who turns 95 in August, is handing over the reins after a legendary six-decade run at the conglomerate. Its annual meetings, known as “Woodstock for Capitalists,” is a chance for Buffett to share his views on markets, investing and life in general. This year, he made headlines by opining on global trade policy, the market’s recent volatility and much more. For Buffett admirers reminiscing at next year’s bittersweet gathering, here are some highlights from the 2025 meeting that might have gone overlooked. Real estate is harder than stocks On the topic of real estate, Buffett admitted he’s not a huge fan, especially when compared to equities. He believes that the stock market offers more opportunities and greater ease of execution, unlike real estate, which involves lengthy negotiations, many complexities and is notoriously difficult to buy and sell. “In respect to real estate, it’s so much harder than stocks in terms of negotiation of deals, time spent, the involvement of multiple parties in the ownership, usually,” Buffett said. “When you walk down to the New York Stock Exchange you can do billions of dollars worth of business totally anonymous and you can do it in five minutes, and the trades are complete when they’re complete.” Buffett revealed that the late Charlie Munger, his longtime business partner, enjoyed real estate transactions, and did a fair number of them in the last five years of his life. Finding Japanese investments in a handbook Buffett first unveiled investments in five Japanese trading companies on his 90th birthday in August 2020. He has since increased those holdings in Mitsui, Mitsubishi, Sumitomo, Itochu and Marubeni to about 10%, saying Berkshire intends to hold on to them for 50 years or more. One little-known fact he revealed at the annual meeting was that he discovered the trading houses, known as “sogo shosha,” in a handbook describing thousands of companies in Japan. “I was just going through a little handbook that probably had 2,000 or 3,000 Japanese companies in it,” Buffett said. “One problem I have is that I can’t read that handbook anymore. The print’s too small. And there were these five trading companies. They have a special name for them in Japan, but they were selling at ridiculously low prices.” Made most money on 8 ideas over 50 years In investing, Buffett believes the greatest success comes from only a handful of home runs. In fact, he said, quoting Munger, Berkshire made most of its money on about eight or nine ideas over 50 years. “If you get real opportunities every five or six years…, you have to be patient,” Buffett said. “We talked about it every day and we read every report and we did everything else, but if you think you can get an idea a day from listening to your friendly broker or doing a lot of reading of the financial information published … forget it, because every now and then you get extraordinary opportunities, and most of the time you don’t have much of an edge.” Buffett noted that the one problem with the investment business is that opportunities don’t come along in an orderly fashion. Insurance float is ‘absolutely free money’ Buffett also touted Berkshire’s unmatched amount of float that its insurance empire generates . Float refers to the money an insurance company holds temporarily between collecting premiums from policyholders and paying out claims. “There’s no property casualty company that has our float,” Buffett said. “That is money that (as long as we’re writing it and underwriting profit), is absolutely free money. And we would expect that over a 50-year, hundred-year *******, that we would be able to say the same thing.” Buffett cautioned that there will be years when Berkshire has a bad underwriting record, which would eat into the float earnings. However, in the last 20 years, he said the firm has only suffered one annual underwriting loss. “It’s like running a bank, where people leave their money with you and you pay them minus 2.2% and you don’t have any check clearing or anything else to do, and it’s included in that total. But we run our business actually with a different mindset than any other PC company I think probably in the world,” he said. Reading balance sheets Buffett, with a history of identifying opportunities by reading company reports and filings, noted that balance sheets — highlighting assets and liabilities — offer more insight into companies’ health than income statements. “That’s one thing we’ve really never talked about here, but I spend more time looking at balance sheets than I do income statements. Apprenticeship shakeup to shift focus to under-21s Apprenticeship shakeup to shift focus to under-21s The government is promising more training for under-21s in England, as it presses ahead with controversial plans to scrap funding for postgraduate apprenticeships. Only students under the age of 21 will qualify for funding for level 7 apprenticeships – the highest level, considered equivalent to a master’s degree – under the plans confirmed on Tuesday. This means many higher apprenticeships would have to be completely paid for by employers. The Conservatives have previously described the proposals as a disaster which could undermine advanced NHS training. Apprenticeships in England are available for those aged 16 and over, and combine practical training in a job with study. They take between one and five years to complete, depending on their level. A level 2 apprenticeship is considered the equivalent of a GCSE, while 6 and 7 are considered equivalent to a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Overall the government is promising to create 120,000 more training opportunities for young adults, and those who need to retrain. An increase in a charge paid by employers recruiting from outside the *** will be used to create 45,000 training places, building on existing programmes aimed at helping adults get into work. The big shift in Tuesday’s announcement is to pull funding from the highest level apprenticeships, equivalent to a postgraduate or masters degree. These level 7 apprenticeships are used by people training in a wide variety of roles, including accountants, tax advisors and solicitors, most of whom are already in work. They are also a significant part of some NHS advanced training, such as for district nurses who want to a more specialist qualification. Since an apprenticeship levy for large employers was introduced in 2017, there has been a ***** in higher qualifications at degree or postgraduate level, called level 6 or level 7. However, the numbers of young adults starting entry apprenticeships at level 2 has fallen. Tuesday’s announcement is an attempt to push more of the money generated by the apprenticeship levy paid to government towards those under the age of 21. Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson said “When we invest in skills for young people, we invest in a shared, stronger economic future.” But Neil O’Brien, shadow education minister, said: “The decision to scrap higher apprenticeships will do damage to the public services, particularly the NHS. “It will make it impossible for many young people who don’t go university to enter the professions.” Among the other changes are seven new foundation apprenticeships in sectors such as health and social care, engineering and construction. These are at the level of GCSEs and are intended to provide a broad introduction to work before students specialise. Young adults could then go on to study for specific jobs. Chachomwe Chiwaya, who is doing a level 2 apprenticeship in hospitality at Leeds City College, told BBC News the course and the experience of working front-of-house in a café has given her more self-belief. “I’ve not always been as confident as I am now,” the 21-year-old says. “I’ve always been a shy kid growing up, so it takes a while for my confidence to grow. “But with this apprenticeship, it gets me out of my comfort zone, it gets me talking to customers, and I’ve made some good relationships with them.” She says she dreams of working abroad in a hotel, either as a receptionist or restaurant staff, or on a cruise ship – “anything that let’s me see the world”, she says. Donkey Kong Country Has The Best Attraction In Super Nintendo World Donkey Kong Country Has The Best Attraction In Super Nintendo World Universal Studios’ brand-new theme park, Epic Universe, opened its gilded gates to the public last Thursday. This fourth park offers five new themed destinations such as Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon: Trial of Berk, and Dark Universe, themed after Universal classic monster flicks. For video game fans, the most exciting destination is the Orlando version of the acclaimed Super Nintendo World. This is the third iteration of Nintendo’s Mario-focused theme park and only the second in the US, following the parks in Osaka and Los Angeles, respectively. However, the Epic Universe variant is the only North American location to feature the Donkey Kong Country Expansion, originally an Osaka-exclusive. I visited Universal Epic Universe during a special media event before its grand opening and spent several hours exploring every inch of the new park. Since we’ve extensively covered the Japan and California iterations of Super Nintendo World in the past, and the Orlando version is identical in size and scope to the Osaka park specifically (if not *******), this piece focuses squarely on my time exploring Donkey Kong’s US theme park debut. You can find the DK area towards the back of Super Nintendo World, with a big cave beckoning you to its jungle. It’s been stated that entering Super Nintendo World feels like stepping into a Mario game, and the same rings true when crossing the threshold to DK’s domain. If you love Donkey Kong Country as much as I do, the park is a joy to see as it nails the series’ aesthetic. Bright, colorful recreations of recognizable sights like DK’s treehouse, speakers blasting a rendition of the DK Island Swing theme on repeat, along with copious barrels, crates, and, of course, bananas, check all the boxes of the DKC checklist. The only downside is the lack of Tropical Freeze love; I didn’t see a single snowflake. I cannot abide such erasure. “Expansion” is an apt label for the area, given its small size. Featuring a single ride, two shops, a few minigames, and a meet-and-greet stage, you’re here for a good time but probably not a long one. Gawking at the sights, my eyes immediately focused on the towering Golden Temple at the end of the area. This marks the home of Mine Cart Madness, a rollercoaster that wraps around half the park. Having ridden the kid-friendly Yoshi’s Adventure and AR-centric Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge in the main area, Mine Kart Madness is easily my favorite attraction in all of Super Nintendo World. As the line takes players through a golden interior filled with primate statues and wall paintings, you eventually encounter an impressive animatronic of Cranky Kong, who regales visitors about a stolen golden banana ****** to his parrot, Squawks. It’s strange hearing Cranky speak English instead of his usual shrill grunts, but it was cool to see a presumably life-sized version of the OG Kong rocking in his chair. The ride itself is modeled after the fun and infamously difficult mine cart levels from the Donkey Kong Country games. Up to four riders hop in a cart, and after a quick cameo from Dixie Kong, who cheerily greets riders as they pull out of the station, you’ll take a short climb before flying down and around a surprisingly fast trek. It’s an entertaining and appropriately chaotic romp, taking you through a mine shaft and eventually across a raging river. A near head-on collision with Donkey and Diddy early on legitimately made my heart jump. Presentation-wise, I love how the ride features broken track segments a la the games, and I wondered how our cart navigated these sections. The answer is actually quite simple, but I’ll leave that up to you to figure out if you visit. Mine Cart Madness may not feature steep drops or flip riders upside down, but it’s easily the best thrill ride in Super Nintendo World. I rode it five times. I adore rollercoasters, and I’d classify it as a medium intensity experience; maybe a bit much for very young riders, but older kids or those averse to ******* coasters can enjoy this. However, it is a very bumpy ride, and I can’t tell if that’s by design. One section that saw riders moving side to side between broken tracks had me slamming somewhat unpleasantly against the sides of the cart. It’s a fun ride, but I wouldn’t recommend hopping aboard if you just ate. Like Super Nintendo World proper, attendees can play mini-games around the park. You’ll need to purchase a Power-Up Band to fully enjoy these activities, which reward coins and achievements for everything you do, tracked on the Universal Studios mobile app. I enjoyed seeking out scattered KONG letters, though they’re relatively easy to find given the area’s small size. A ******* challenge comes in collecting puzzle pieces, which can only be obtained by using the Power-Up Band to scan certain objects bearing the DK seal. These require a sharper eye to spot and are very easy to miss. One balloon-topped barrel with a touchscreen offers a roulette game, with players touching the screen to stop fast-moving icons such as a banana coin, balloon, and even the Mirror Mode item from Donkey Kong Country Returns in a nice deep cut. Getting an icon rewards its sticker on the app, so you’ll need to play multiple times (at least five) to get them all. The best and most involved game comes in the form of a rhythm challenge. Three pairs of bongos sit in front of a crate bearing the stamp of Rambi the Rhino. Up to three people can work together to hit the bongos to the beat of a song playing through nearby speakers. Even if you’re rhythmically gifted, this can be tough to pull off depending on the crowd noise, which can muffle the music cues. I struggled to hear them with the visitor capacity at barely a fraction of what it likely is now (i.e., hundreds). A pair of lights flashing in sync with the beat and park attendants guiding us help, especially since you can fail this challenge. But if you can stay on beat, you’re rewarded with Rambi popping out of the box to grace you with his horned presence. This game is as fun to play as it is to watch, and the fact that you can lose makes it entertaining to see others attempt to coax Rambi out of his box. Beyond the ride and minigames, you can meet Donkey Kong at designated times under his treetop home. It’s an impressive and very large mascot suit, and I appreciate that the park employees are more than happy to shoot photos and videos of your interactions with the big lug. I shared a fist bump and a big, hairy hug. I think he liked me. If your money needs a new home, Funky’s Fly ‘n’ Buy, a shop modeled after Funky Kong’s airplane, offers a nice selection of DK-branded merch (which you can also grab at the Nintendo store outside Super Nintendo World). For those with a sweet tooth or who want to cool down from what will be a scorching Florida summer, The Bubbly Barrel offers a single, exclusive treat: the DK Crush Float. This towering treat consists of banana and pineapple flavored soft serve ice cream mixed with pineapple soda, topped with sprinkles, toffee pieces, and caramel popcorn. It’s served in a waffle bowl, which you can carry in a plastic cup (for $12.99) or in a collectible DK barrel mug ($18.99). I suspect the latter will be the more popular option because you can keep and reuse the cool DK mug. I didn’t sample this treat – I could feel my blood sugar spiking just looking at it – but it looked delicious and seemed substantial enough to (mostly) justify the price. Weirdly, neither shop accepts bananas as payment, which seems like a major breach of the immersion. It may not be big, but Donkey Kong Country is a very cool expansion to Super Nintendo World. As someone who loves exciting rides more than anything else at theme parks, Mine Cart Madness is an excellent addition, especially if you’re underwhelmed by the Yoshi and Mario Kart rides like I was. Otherwise, it’s another fun recreation of one of my favorite platforming series, and it has the (likely intended) effect of making me more excited to play Donkey Kong Bananza later this summer. I don’t know if or when we’ll get another park expansion (Zelda, please) like this to Super Nintendo World, but Donkey Kong Country is a strong start. Every Game Shown During The Six One Indie Showcase Every Game Shown During The Six One Indie Showcase Introduction The Six One Indie Showcase returned today with over an hour of indie love and more than 40 games to highlight. There were world premieres, new reveals and trailers, and more, including a vinyl and board game announcement. As triple-A games take longer and longer to develop, I find myself playing more indies. Not only do they fill the gap of big releases each year, but they’re also where I find the most unique games I’ve ever played. Today’s showcase is a great example of that, and below is my round-up of every game shown during today’s Six One Indie Showcase. You can use the table of contents to jump to different sections of games we’ve grouped together based on vibes. Each game name is in bold, and the developer or publisher is underneath it in italics. World Premiere: Truth Scrapper InsertDisc5 From the creator of In Stars and Time, Truth Scrapper is an idyllic narrative adventure about memories and scrapbooking. As you meet new people on your journey and explore new areas like caves and towns, you can add pieces of your findings to your scrapbook. It looks like dialogue choices will influence what you remember as well, ultimately allowing you to create your own scrapbook. Developer InsertDisc5 says the game is “a visual novel about magic, memories, and toxic lesbians.” You can wishlist it on Steam here. Bobo Bay NewFutureKids In this cozy 3D adventure, talk to and collect local creatures that look like the Chao from Sonic the Hedgehog and send them into minigames, including races, firing duels, and more. Bonnie Bear Saves Frogtime offbrand games I have no idea what’s happening in this world, but I’m here for it. In this strange 2D adventure, play as Bonnie Bear, who likes cheese, frog-dependent minigames, and friends that look like fruit with arms and legs. Despite the oddity of the art style and world, the game seems quite cozy, with voice-acted dialogue to accompany the narrative. You can wishlist the game on Steam here. Oscuro Blossom’s Glow Hongoneon In this exclusive look, the Six One Indie Showcase highlights Oscuro Blossom’s Glow, a 2D platformer that takes place underground. Cast N Chill Wombat Brawler There’s plenty of cute indies with fishing minigames in them, but Cast N Chill is a dedicated fishing indie, and it looks gorgeous. Music Rhythm Games Music Rhythm Games Future Vibe Check Akupara Games As part of the showcase, developer Manik Bhat announced that a demo for Future Vibe Check is now available. Future Vibe Check is an “automation game where you make music,” according to Bhat. He says it combines Eastern philosophy and his love of music to create a unique esoteric adventure, calling it a game for fans of Factorio and Satisfactory. Fretless – The Wrath of Riffson Playdigious Originals In this pixel-art rhythm-based RPG, take down monstrous creatures, demons, and more with the power of metal music. Anatine Pixel Trash If you’ve ever wanted to experience a 2D pixel-art metroidvania where you play as a Mallard duck, Anatine is the game for you. And if you like rhythm games, even better, because playing music allows you to even the odds against the deadly enemies you’ll encounter throughout this journey. You can wishlist the game on Steam here. Scratch The Cat FlatPonies In this 3D collectathon, you play as a musically inclined DJ cat. It looks reminiscent of the 3D platformers from the Nintendo 64 era of games, with a unique world and fun cast of enemies to take on. Scaravan 66 Lithic Entertainment Inc. If you like Double Fine’s Full Throttle, Scaravan 66 is a game you need to keep an eye on. With a rockabilly Americana soundtrack, chaotic 3D vehicular combat, and a unique cast of characters to take down on the highway, Scaravan 66 is almost ready to welcome you to its Early Access launch on July 16. Six One Indie’s “Weird S***” Six One Indie’s “Weird S—“ Glitchspankr TheClassifiedX Glitchspankr is about a 12-year-old boy in the 90s who tries to borrow his mom’s secret game, Big Booty ******** 6 (my mom also loved this game). However, a sentient virus named Spunk has infected and broken the game, and it’s up to you and the glitchspankr anti-virus to find Spunk and ****** him out of the game. If that premise isn’t enough to get you into the game, Glitchspankr also features a fun voxel art style, lots of meta (and raunchy) humor, and a dose of nostalgia for kids of the 90s. You can wishlist the game on Steam here. There’s also a demo available. Guilty As Sock ****** Max Imagine Ace Attorney, but you’re a clay-molded sock. And it’s a party game that you can play with up to 9 friends. Play as the judge, jury, or attorneys, and create fun, chaos, and seemingly anything but legal rulings in this courtroom. Hotel Barcelona CULT Games In this team-up from Swery65 and Suda51, you’re an assassin out to assassinate several serial killers who all happen to be in the same place, Hotel Barcelona. The team behind the game calls it a 2.5D slasher film parody action game, and it looks rad as hell. Considering who’s behind it, we expect a great time. Hotel Barcelona is due out sometime this year. The Dark, The Decrepit, and The Odd The Dark, The Decrepit, and The Odd Rue Valley Owlcat Games I’m just going to write, verbatim, what this trailer started with because it hooked me right in and I feel like a lot of us can relate to this in 2025: “Have you ever been in a situation where you need to do something simple, but somehow, you just can’t? Welcome to your brain, where your thoughts and personality traits fight for control like a group project gone wrong.” Yep, I’m sold. Reminiscent of Disco Elysium, this isometric RPG utilizes personality traits we’re all familiar with, like extrovert and introvert, to progress. It’s not just about choices, but figuring out why you made those choices, and rewriting your brain. You can wishlist the game on Steam here. Carimara: Beneath The Forlorn Limbs Bastinus Rex Carimara: Beneath The Forlorn Limbs has a frankly terrifying art style that looks like a nightmare with characters that match the aesthetic too. It reminds me most of Inscryption, one of my all-time favorite games, and I’m not just saying that because it also features cards. The game is launching soon, although no release date was given. You can wishlist the game on Steam here. BattleVersus BLE Studios Like the 1000xResist vinyl, this highlight wasn’t about a video game per see, but a tabletop board game. Though the trailer was somewhat vague, it seems like BattleVersus pits players of different soldiers, from military to pirates to warriors, against each other on a chess-like battlefield. BLE Studios head Asa GreenRiver says BattleVersus “takes all the preconceived notions of what a tabletop game can be, polishes it up real nice, flips them upside down, and stomps them into oblivion.” It blends faction-based strategic multiplayer action and drops players into a dark tournament of power and poise. GreenRiver says it was built using video game design principles, and is open to various playstyles amongst the four playable factions. You can check it out on Kickstarter here. A Week In The Life Of Asocial Giraffe Quail Button The title says it all – in this game, live life as a giraffe who isn’t very social, despite everyone around them being very social. It features a cute 2D animated art style and looks charming. It’s coming soon, and you can wishlist the game on Steam here. There’s also a demo available now. Inkshade Studio Vezelle In this game, clearly inspired by Inscryption, you explore a dark world while traversing various board game-style arenas. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on, but I’m very excited to check it out because it looks like very much my type of game. You can wishlist the game on Steam here, and a demo is available to try it out. Kejora Soft Source Kejora is a 2D narrative timeloop adventure with a gorgeous animated art style. Use a slingshot to work through puzzles alongside your friend, and survive… something menacing that’s after you. It launches September 4, but there’s a demo you can check out right now. Wishlist the game on Steam here. One Way Home Cyberhead There’s only one way home, and it’s not going to be an easy journey. Traverse through a city that’s falling apart alone and haunted by some mysterious force with the power to take away everything you love. You Gotta See This For Yourself You Gotta See This For Yourself Mouse: P.I. For Hire Fumi Games/PlaySide You’ve probably seen this game before, but if you haven’t, you’re in for a treat. It’s like the first-person shooter of Cuphead, in that it features a classic 1930s animated art style, but is more Doom than anything else. It continues to look amazing in today’s showcase, which highlights various guns players can use in the game. Mouse: P.I. For Hire is due out sometime this year. Kabuto Park Doot Tiny Games In Kabuto Park, catch cute bugs, win tiny battles using a unique deck of cards, and train your team to become the best there ever was. It features a cute and cozy art style, plenty of bugs to collect, and launches next week on May 28. Plus, there’s a demo available right now. You can wishlist it on Steam here. The Wide Open Sky Is Running Out Of Catfish ZIPIT! Games This game right here – more specifically, its title – is why I love indies. Because they can just do whatever they want. I have no idea what this game’s name means or implies, but it looks like an exploratory adventure where you use a camera to uncover mysteries, find new flying fish, and more. The wide open sky is running out of catfish… and I guess it’s up to you to fix that? There’s a demo available right now, and you can wishlist the game on Steam here. Indie Horror Indie Horror Forbidden Solitaire Night Signal Entertainment Forbidden Solitaire is a “dark, FMV-inspired, dungeon-solitaire game,” and it looks as wild as it sounds. You just need to watch the trailer – it’s a game I can’t wait to play. You can wishlist the game on Steam here. Quite A Ride Goodwin Games In this War of the Worlds and Stephen King-inspired adventure, you ride a bike on the run from something that’s after you. And if the trailer is any indication, whatever you do, do not look back. It looks terrifying and has a tinge of that 1980s Stranger Things vibe that I can’t wait to check out. Benny Bash Eduardo Scarpato Benny Bash is like if instead of Nintendo making Super Mario, the teams behind Silent Hill and Inscryption teamed up to make it in both its 2D and 3D iterations. Video Ghastlies Oro Interactive Keep the terrifying times rolling! In Video Ghastlies, watch VHS tapes on a CRT TV while the world around you grows scarier and scarier. This was a quick look, so it’s hard to grasp exactly what’s going on, but it looks like one horror fans should keep an eye on. You can wishlist the game on Steam here. Blue Ridge Hunting ***** Meadows Blue Ridge Hunting’s trailer introduces Eli James, founder of the Appalachian Investigation Group. He has spent his whole life tracking down creatures like Mothman, Sasquatch, and more in the local mountains. It then switches to a gnarly and scary visual style from the first-person perspective, and it seems like it’s now protagonist Levi Chambers’ job to track down these monsters. You can wishlist Blue Ridge Hunting on Steam here. Cute, Cute, Cute Cute, Cute, Cute Petal Runner Nano Park Studios/iam8bit Set in a pink and purple-infused futuristic city, Petal Runner is a slice of life adventure with an art style that’s very Gen-1 Pokemon, with unique creatures to collect to boot. I immediately added this one to my wishlist, and you can do the same on Steam here. Oddbat Summerhouse Games Oddbat is a mostly ******-and-white 3D sidescroller that seems to be about escaping rather than taking down every enemy in a mysterious fortress. Kidbash: Super Legend Authentic Remixes Kidbash: Super Legend looks like Mega Man meets school art project, thanks to its 2.5D platformer combat and cardboard/clay art style. Dinoblade Team Spino LLC Six One Indie heads Mike Towndrow and Kyle Stephenson discovered this in-development game years ago on TikTok, and promised themselves that when it was time, they’d reach out to the developer and ask them to close a showcase. It finally happened! In Dinoblade, you control a sick **** dinosaur (a Spinosaurus) with a sick **** sword who is set on becoming the king of the battlefield. Israel blocked aid and medical supplies entering the strip for 11 weeks and has begun letting in small amounts – according to global news agencies – which international aid organisations say are a drop in the ocean of what is needed. More than two million people face starvation and an already anaemic health system in the war zone is at risk of a complete collapse without medical supplies, amid repeated Israeli strikes against healthcare facilities. Asked whether the war in Gaza had the hallmarks of a genocide, Mr Husic said it was “hard to avoid making a conclusion in your own mind that it will probably end up being called that”. Israel has strongly denied accusations of genocide as the International Court of Justice investigates. The world’s highest court has previously said it was plausible Israel’s actions could constitute genocide. While acknowledging the court would make the final call, Mr Husic said that fact that it had been “required or forced, if you will, to indicate that there are probable grounds, speaks volumes”. More than 53,000 people in Gaza have been killed, according to local authorities, after Israel retaliated following an attack by ****** on October 7, 2023, that killed 1200 people and resulted in 250 hostages being taken, according to Israel’s tallies. Mr Husic said Australia needed to be prepared to put in place targeted sanctions against Israel’s Netanyahu government and Israel Defence Forces for breaches of humanitarian law if the full blockade wasn’t ended. Israel’s government has said it’s withholding aid to pressure the designated terrorist organisation ****** into releasing the remaining hostages. Canada, France and the *** warned of “further concrete action” if Israel didn’t stop its military campaign and lift aid restrictions. “… they are well advanced in their preparations and we should be prepared to move rapidly,” Mr Husic told reporters in Canberra on Tuesday. The former cabinet minister also called for ****** to be held to account for the atrocities it has committed, and to release the remaining hostages. Mr Husic said the “biggest failing of the Netanyahu government and the IDF is their absolute failure to distinguish between civilian and combatant”. “The notion that there’d be a condition applied that people won’t get aid in the form of food or medicine until these hostages’ release, I mean, that is not just wrong, it breaches humanitarian law,” he said. Using starvation as a method of warfare is a war crime, according to international law experts. Mr Husic also expressed concerns about reports Israel has blocked some medical professionals from entering Gaza. English orthopaedic and pediatric surgeon Ana Jeelani, who previously worked in Gaza, said she was recently blocked from entering the strip and other surgeons had been as well. “What’s happening in Gaza currently is an atrocity and they need hands on deck,” she told ABC Radio. “The people who would help are being denied as well. So it’s all a perfect storm, as they would say, for a society not to survive.” The comments come a day after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Israel’s actions in Gaza were completely unacceptable and that “the idea that a democratic state withholds supply is an outrage”. He added Israel’s explanations were “completely untenable and without credibility”. Mr Husic also said the war should be a catalyst to fast track the recognition of a ************ state, something Labor has committed to doing under certain caveats, so a broader two-state peace solution could be reached.
