Strickland nails more Serbian gold with 10g/t hit at Gradina prospect
Strickland nails more Serbian gold with 10g/t hit at Gradina prospect
Strickland Metals has nailed more high-grade gold with hits of 4 metres at 10.1 grams per tonne (g/t) from 339.5m and 16.7m going 4.3g/t, including 8m at 6g/t from 391.5m from a first hole in the company’s recent drilling program at its Gradina prospect in Serbia.
Gradina is part of its huge 7.4 million-ounce gold-equivalent Rogozna project in southern Serbia. Unlike the project’s Shanac, Medenovac and Copper Canyon deposits, which include valuable silver, copper, zinc and lead, Gradina appears to be a gold-only prospect.
The strong results came from the deposit’s northern end and extend the known high-grade mineralisation across 1 kilometre of strike and vertically down to 900m. The company is now on a path to revealing a much-anticipated mineral resource before the end of the year.
The initial diamond drill hole in the recent drilling program, which started in March, was hammered into the northern section of what appears to be a mineralised corridor, defined by previous drilling at the prospect.
Previous impressive drill intervals at Gradina, in the project’s southeast section, include gold hits of 32m running 6.8g/t from 595m, 27.5m at 5g/t from 439.8m and 14.3m going 8g/t from 516.9m.
Gradina’s mineralisation remains open in all directions, including down-dip and up-dip towards surface. Four drill rigs are feverishly working to grow the resource for the maiden reveal later this year, testing for up-dip extensions and infill drilling to support the anticipated maiden resource. An additional two rigs are working at the project’s premier deposit Shanac and at Kotlovi.
A seventh rig is expected to motor towards the project in the coming weeks, as the company continues ratcheting up exploration. It plans to run a whopping 50,000m diamond drill campaign this year at the fully-owned project.
The company still has a stash of cash in its kitty and liquid assets totalling $34.8 million at the end of March, along with a head-turning $5M strategic investment received in April from US$60 billion ******** mining firm Zijin Mining.
This is a fantastic start to our 2025 drilling campaign at Gradina, with the first diamond drill hole for the year continuing to demonstrate the importance of this high-grade, gold-dominant system for the growth of Rogozna. Our expectation is that Gradina will deliver considerable high-grade ounces to the Rogozna resource inventory by late-2025.
The company has completed 14 drill holes since beginning its program. It expects to receive the outstanding assays in the coming weeks.
Rogozna consists of four exploration licences within an area of about 184 square kilometres. Strickland believes the project has the potential to become one of the biggest undeveloped gold deposits globally.
The project hosts a giant magmatic hydrothermal system characterised by extensive skarn-based gold-copper mineralisation with varying levels of associated silver, copper, lead and zinc.
Strickland’s current key deposits within the project include its flagship 5.3M-ounce gold equivalent Shanac inferred resource, its 1.28M-ounce gold equivalent Medenovac resource and the 0.81M-ounce gold equivalent resource at Copper Canyon.
Gradina makes up the company’s current complement of still-evolving deposits.
The company is also looking to plunge the drill bit into high-priority targets at its new Jezerska Reka discovery and at its Kotlovi, Veleiki and Red Creek targets, and to follow up new but earlier-stage targets at Obradov Potok, Leca, Wolf Pond and Kaluder.
Strickland recently revealed its 2025 Serbian exploration campaign got off to a flying start, jagging a pair of thick, high-grade hits including a standout 66.8m section grading 2.7g/t gold equivalent at Shanac. A massive gold equivalent intercept was returned of 251.6m at 1.3g/t from 341.9m, including a stellar 58.1m section at 2.3g/t gold equivalent.
Zijin Mining’s recent leaping onto Strickland’s share register makes for an interesting move. Having a powerful player on your side is usually a big positive, especially in Serbia, where Zijin already has a large presence with its Čukaru Peki and Bor copper-gold operations.
The two mines pumped out 300,000t of copper and 250,000 ounces of gold last year, which offers evidence of Zijin’s prowess in the Balkans country.
The growing Rogozna project might one day stand on the global podium as one of the world’s biggest undeveloped gold projects – giving Strickland a real leg-up in the eyes of the market’s gold pundits.

Argentina’s President Javier Milei to receive $1M Genesis Prize in Israel
Argentina’s President Javier Milei to receive $1M Genesis Prize in Israel
JERUSALEM (AP) — Argentina’s President Javier Milei is headed to Israel.
Milei was awarded the $1 million Genesis Prize in January in recognition of his support of Israel.
After he postponed a planned visit in March, he is now set to receive the prize in a ceremony at Israel’s Knesset on June 11 and deliver a speech to the Israeli parliament.
Organizers say Milei will donate the prize money to launch an initiative aimed at improving diplomatic relations between Israel and Latin American countries and fighting antisemitism in the region.
Prize organizers say they recognized Milei for reversing Argentina’s long history of anti-Israel votes at the United Nations, designating the ****** and Hezbollah militant groups as terrorist organizations and reopening investigations into the bombings of Jewish and Israeli targets in Argentina in the 1990s.
Milei also has pledged to move Argentina’s embassy to Jerusalem — joining a handful of countries, including the U.S., to recognize the contested city as Israel’s capital. The move is not expected to take place during his visit.
Previous winners have included business owner and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, actors Michael Douglas and Barbra Streisand, violinist Itzhak Perlman, sculptor Sir Anish Kapoor, filmmaker Steven Spielberg; New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and former Soviet political prisoner Natan Sharansky.

She’s made $10,000 an hour teaching people how to make dumplings
She’s made $10,000 an hour teaching people how to make dumplings
Samantha Mui, 34, is the founder of Thirsty Dumpling, a do-it-yourself dumpling-making startup.
Courtesy of Samantha Mui
Samantha Mui teaches people how to make dumplings for a living, making as much as $10,000 an hour, according to documents reviewed by CNBC Make It. That’s more than what she used to make a month from her corporate job.
“The biggest win in my life right now is I can go to a corporate office wearing a crop top and ripped jeans, teaching a cooking class and make more in one hour than I’ve ever made in a month,” Mui said.
The 34-year-old founded Thirsty Dumpling, which sells do-it-yourself dumpling making kits. As part of her business, she also teaches in-person and online cooking classes for private events, corporate clients and more. She’s also the author of the cookbook “Melting Pot.”
Mui’s departure from the corporate world came after years of ruminating about starting something of her own.
‘This is supposed to be the dream role’
Before starting her company, Mui worked in several service and corporate jobs. She’s worked in industries as varied as senior care and venture capital, but throughout those years, she said, she experienced many moments of sadness.
“For four years in my adult life, I actually lived with my parents,” Mui said. “I was very overwhelmed, because I had a lot of student loans at the time and … when I signed all the paperwork for the student loans, I didn’t know what I was signing up for,” she said.
I remember during that time feeling like this is supposed to be the dream role … but I’m not happy.
Samantha Mui
Founder, Thirsty Dumpling
“There were moments of despair, because I [felt] like: ‘I don’t know how I’m gonna make it,'” she said. “I think that also pushed me … to find something else, because I almost felt like it was a necessity,” she said.
Mui said feeling that way forced her to realize that she had to build something of her own, but it wasn’t until a major catalyst happened that she took the leap.
“I had a new role. It was a fully remote job doing events,” she said. “I remember during that time feeling like this is supposed to be the dream role … but I’m not happy,” she said. “I did know deep down that at some point, I would do my own thing. I just didn’t know what it was.”
I learned that at the end of your rope, all you care about is: ‘did you do right by others?’ … and ‘did I do right by myself?
Samantha Mui
Founder, Thirsty Dumpling
It was that year in 2022 that Mui’s father died suddenly, just a couple of months after her grandmother’s death. That made her realize that life is short, and that she had to be happy.
She said, “I learned that at the end of your rope, all you care about is: ‘did you do right by others?’ … and ‘did I do right by myself?'”
Shortly after, Mui said, she found clarity and decided to leave her corporate role. “I stopped fighting it, and … I remember not feeling bad at all. I was feeling really liberated,” she said. She wanted to take some time for herself to rest and pivot.
Just three weeks into unemployment, Mui had a phone call with her mom that ultimately sparked the idea for Thirsty Dumpling. Then, about seven months later in November 2023, she launched the business.
“Sometimes I feel like it’s [not] always my decision. It’s because I feel like there’s no other option for me, so I have to do my own thing,” she said.
Today, she can bring in $10,000 in an hour by teaching a class of 100 people to make dumplings.
Mui said she’s learned that trusting your gut is key in business and life. “Every entrepreneur has to have faith, because a lot of times you have to take action, even if you don’t — in the immediate [term] — know if it’s going to pan out well or not,” Mui said.
On top of that, she said, she’s learned how to value herself and her time as an entrepreneur. When she started the business, she said, she took on a lot of unpaid work which drained her energy, and it wasn’t until she shifted her focus to her bottom line that her business began to blossom.
“The minute I valued my time and energy … my business changed,” she said. “I learned [that] in every transaction in business and everything you do, it needs to be a healthy exchange … if I feel like I’m giving more and I’m not getting what I want out of it, you’re never going to be happy. So always finding that win-win situation is really important.”
When asked how being a business owner compares with working in the corporate world, she said, “I feel like, to my bones, this is what I’m supposed to do … Sometimes I wake up and I’m just like: ‘Wow, I cannot believe I’m doing this, because I feel so much more authentic to myself,'” Mui said.
“I just feel like I’m doing what my inner child always wanted to do,” she said. “I feel so much happier. So much lighter … and all I want is to continue this, and I really hope that I’m able to continue this.”

Palme d’Or-winning director Jafar Panahi returns home
Palme d’Or-winning director Jafar Panahi returns home
An Iranian filmmaker has been cheered at home after winning Cannes Film Festival’s top prize.
Jafar Panahi touched down in Tehran’s international airport on Monday, two days after his Palme d’Or victory for revenge thriller It Was Just Accident.
Panahi has been imprisoned multiple times in Iran, most recently for protesting the detention of filmmakers criticising the authorities. This was his first visit to Cannes in 15 years, where his films have been shown in his absence due to a travel ban.
His winning film depicted torture in Iranian jails and ignited a back-and-forth between French and Iranian officials.
The celebrated director, who now holds prizes from Europe’s three major film festivals, was seen grinning and holding a bouquet of flowers as he embraced his friends.
Among the crowd was fellow Iranian film director Medhi Nadari, who shared footage of the moment on Instagram calling Panahi’s return “history-making”.
One person was heard shouting “woman, life, freedom” as Panahi passed through the airport, according to the Agence France-Presse news agency. The phrase was the slogan for protests that broke out across Iran following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody in 2022.
In his acceptance speech at Cannes, Panahi said, “What’s most important now is our country and the freedom of our country,” and called for Iranians to “join forces”.
“No-one should dare tell us what kind of clothes we should wear, what we should do, or what we should not do,” he said.
The film’s win has given rise to a diplomatic row between French and Iranian officials, after French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot dubbed it “a gesture of resistance against the Iranian regime’s oppression” in a post on X.
IRNA, Iran’s state media, reported that a French diplomat had been summoned in Tehran so that it could formally protest the comments as “insulting and unfounded”.
Returning to Tehran fulfils a pledge Panahi made while speaking to reporters in Cannes.
“As soon as I finish my work here I will go back,” he said, adding “I will ask myself what’s my next film going to be.”

Toria is the next-gen mobile RPG from Pocket Play Studio
Toria is the next-gen mobile RPG from Pocket Play Studio
Toria is the upcoming next-gen mobile RPG from Pocket Play Studios
Explore the titular world as a mercenary leader seeking fame and fortune
Engage in 3D turn-based battles, explore 2D side-scrolling cities and even hunt animals in first person
The mobile RPG genre is one which is, I think it’s fair to say, incredibly vibrant. So with that amount of competition, you have to do a lot to make your release stand out. And with Pocket Play Studios, they have big ambitions for their upcoming release Toria, and its ‘next-gen’ quality.
Story-wise, Toria is as typical a fantasy adventure as you can get. You play a mercenary leader taking your party across the world of Toria, searching for wealth, glory and adventure. A fully animated navigable map offers random events and other twists and turns to keep you constantly on your toes.
In terms of concept, Toria is pretty straightforward, mixing in an overworld you explore and gradually uncover, with 2D side-scrolling first-personish exploration of towns and locations, and finally a 3D turn-based battling system. In terms of mechanics, this is a pretty jam-packed sounding release, although nothing truly ‘next-gen’ yet.
Toria, Toria, Toria
In terms of standout mechanics, I don’t think there’s any one thing that makes Toria unusual. But in terms of the overall package, this is certainly a fascinating mix of concepts that we’ve seen only briefly touched on in the mobile RPG genre. I’m particularly intrigued by the first-person sections, including a hunting minigame where you wield a longbow to take out hidden prey.
Even the early footage we can see in preview trailers looks well-rounded and relatively close to completion already. It presents a pretty interesting art style and 3D turn-based battling. All of which, even if not enough to push forward the genre, looks very compelling for a release from a small studio such as Pocket Play!
If you want to get a taste of what else is out there on mobile, which Toria will be competing against, why not try out some of the entries on our list of the top 25 best mobile RPGs on iOS and Android?

Exclusive-China regulator summons automakers to discuss ‘zero-mileage’ used car sales
Exclusive-China regulator summons automakers to discuss ‘zero-mileage’ used car sales
SHANGHAI (Reuters) -China’s commerce ministry will meet industry bodies and automakers including BYD and Dongfeng Motor to discuss increasing sales of “used cars” that were never driven, a person with direct knowledge of the matter said. The meeting is set for Tuesday afternoon, the person said, speaking on condition of anonymity as details of the meeting were confidential.
It comes after Great Wall Motor’s Chairman Wei Jianjun said in an interview with Sina Finance last week that a phenomenon called “secondhand cars with zero mileage” had emerged in the ******** market as a result of the industry’s years-long price war.
The phenomenon, he said, involved cars that had been registered and had licence plates – marking them as sold – but had never been driven being sold in the secondhand market. Wei said that at least 3,000 to 4,000 vendors on ******** used car platforms were selling such cars.
The source said the tactic was seen as a potential method within the industry for automakers and dealers to support new car sales as they try to meet aggressive sales targets.
Other participants invited to the meeting include the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), China Automobile Dealers Association (CADA), as well as some trading platforms of used cars, according to the person. The commerce ministry, BYD, Dongfeng Motor and CADA did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Great Wall and CAAM declined to comment.
Shares in ******** automakers such BYD and Leapmotor extended losses after Reuters reported the meeting, with both falling 3.1%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Automobile Index fell more than 2%.

City steakhouse Meat & Wine Co. closes for African-inspired refresh as Seagrass fires up WA expansion
City steakhouse Meat & Wine Co. closes for African-inspired refresh as Seagrass fires up WA expansion
City steakhouse Meat & Wine Co. is temporarily closing for renovation.
Part of the Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group founded by South African-born meat lover Bradley Michel, the CBD diner which opened in the former Palace Hotel in 2018 will unveil a “sophisticated redesign celebrating its African-inspired heritage” on June 2.
“In pursuit of an elevated and immersive dining experience for its discerning clientele, including Perth’s esteemed steak aficionados, corporate professionals and Perth residents, The Palace’s ‘ballroom’ (is) temporarily closed until June 2nd for an exciting and unique transformation,” the restaurant group said in a press release.
The revitalised interior comes courtesy of the COOOP, an international architectural and design company.
“Patrons will dine under Acacia trees”, a reference to the African landscape which takes centre stage in the new-look dining room.
Other new furnishings include high-back banquette seating, as well as state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems.

COOOP Australia principal and creative director Callie Van Der Merwe said the refurbishment aimed to connect the baroque style of the old ballroom with the contemporary elements of Meat & Wine Co. dining rooms.
The ground floor restaurant at 108 St Georges Terrace will also relaunch with a winter menu starring dry-aged steak with confit garlic and bone marrow.
The city steakhouse’s refresh follows news of Seagrass’ expansion in the WA hospitality market.
The company has already acquired the South Perth site previously home to iconic local restaurant Coco’s for its second Meat & Wine Co. outlet in WA, due to open in late 2025.
There are also plans for a Meat & Wine Co. in Margaret River, as well as three new Hunter & Barrel outlets in the next few years.

In 2024, the hospitality business split into SeagrassBHG and Blue Coral Concepts, which oversees more casual dining options Italian Street Kitchen, Ribs & Burgers and the Five Guys burger chain.
The West *********** understands that Ribs & Burgers is also poised to refresh and relaunch its Perth restaurant.
Seagrass also owns the high-end 6Head steakhouse at Elizabeth Quay.
Seagrass chief executive Ravi Singh said in 2024 that the hospitality group was “bullish about WA”, saying there was room in Perth for 6Head, Meat & Wine Co. and Hunter & Barrel.
“All three brands have got a space in the market,” he said.
“Perth is a living example where we’ve got the three brands within 250m of each other and all three are roaring successes.”

According to figures provided by Seagrass, Hunter & Barrel’s Perth restaurant enjoyed an impressive 21.1 per cent increase in revenue in July to November 2024 compared to the same ******* in 2023.
The total number of patrons dining at the Raine Square diner rose by more than 9 per cent.
Meanwhile, Meat & Wine Co. in Perth earned 4.5 per cent more income in the same timeframes with a 2 per cent lift in clientele.

Tremane Baxter-Edwards is ready to pick up the baton and fight for reconciliation
Tremane Baxter-Edwards is ready to pick up the baton and fight for reconciliation
WA First Nations youth leader Tremane Baxter-Edwards can see the future of reconciliation and it looks like economic empowerment, education and the respect.
It is a future free from culture wars and a world in which more Indigenous Australians learn to “walk in two worlds”, as Mr Baxter-Edwards has done as a Kimberley ranger at El Questro Wilderness Park, student and youth political adviser.
And at just 18, the Ngarinyin-Walmajarri man thinks the future of reconciliation also means that young leaders like himself must be prepared to take the baton from the generation of Indigenous elders who have spent their lives fighting for it.
Speaking to The West ***********, Mr Baxter-Edwards said he was immensely grateful for the work of elders like Patrick Dodson, who urged him to step into the spotlight for this year’s National Reconciliation Week, the theme of which is Bridging Now to Next.
“Our elders and Aboriginal leaders like Noel Pearson and Marcia Langton and Patrick Dodson, we’re now in this phase where these people who have been fighting their whole life for Aboriginal people and the reconciliation movement need to pass the baton on to the next generation,” he said.
“Because they grew up in a generation where it was really difficult to be an Aboriginal person, and let me please use this as an opportunity to thank these leaders.
“But now we’re in a phase where we operate differently. The young people of today are becoming a bit more progressive so they’re not going to have to fight tooth and nail with this particular subject. I think people today. . . their spirit is switched on and I think with the right practical view we will be able to advance the reconciliation movement a bit more.”
Mr Baxter-Edwards, who grew up in the Kimberley town of Wyndham, said the failure of the Voice to Parliament referendum had “changed the course of the reconciliation journey” but had not defeated it.
He said empowering Aboriginal people to have economic power, equal access to education and work and the potential for intergenerational wealth were key to achieving reconciliation.
“My grandmother was paid in rations for her hard work for 30 years,” he said. “I don’t think a lot of people know how disheartening that is for me, as a young person, to hear my grandmother say that.
“Reconciliation in 2025, for me personally, I would like to see young people and their families put in the best position possible and what does that mean? Essentially self-determination: economic empowerment, economic development.
“How do we, as the next generation, work with our elders to empower us and simultaneously empower our elders to walk in two worlds?
“To walk in those two worlds successfully is a fine line: to be able to negotiate at the table with, for example, politicians and business people you’re successfully walking in the western world, but to be able to go back to country and talk about country and culture as I have the opportunity to do, it’s incredible.”
He said he believed most people wanted Indigenous people to succeed but did not know how to make that happen.
“It’s economic empowerment — how do we put the Aboriginal people in the driver’s seat is something people should be talking about today and every day,” he said.
“It’s things like, for example, how do we utilise and sell carbon credits to companies who want to buy carbon credits? That’s economic empowerment: we are using our country and our knowledge of the country… so when we sell carbon credits we’re making the most of those carbon credits.
“Also a big one for me is jobs in education. Young people, no matter who they are, should have the same opportunities afforded to them — doesn’t matter if they’re from the bush, like myself, or the city.
“For people to be able to have the opportunity to work so that government and communities invest in remote communities — there are people who lived off the stations 50 years ago, they moved into town and haven’t had a job since — to make sure everyone wakes up having something to do. . . and having hope, for people in government and business to entrust in these people.”
Julianne Wade is the Whadjuk Nyungar woman behind The West ***********’s front page, reconciliation-inspired artwork, which uses the colours of the changing season to represent “change and growth”.
“The blue resembles our places of water stemming from the swampland,” she said. “The white represents the paths that people take with integrity, into reconciliation, with their own stories and knowledge and actions in the people symbols.
“I have taken inspiration with the hands holding plant materials to emphasise the movement of people coming together to dance and move around on country, and the boomerangs to emphasise the movement of sound and vibrations as we make change.”
She said reconciliation “means more than words” and was “more than an apology or promises that fall short to bridge a gap”.
“It’s about truth, respect, actions and integrity,” she said.

Moment truck explodes while driving through Chicago suburb
A man was injured and four homes were damaged after a small lorry exploded on Saturday morning in a Chicago suburb.
The blast in Addison scattered debris, including clothing and furniture, across the street and in front of homes.
One home was left temporarily uninhabitable after part of the lorry struck a load-bearing wall, authorities said.
A leaking propane tank in the back of the lorry caused the explosion, local media reported.
The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

‘Evil’: Prisoners Review Board refuse parole for child killer Dante Arthurs
Child killer Dante Arthurs has made a third unsuccessful bid to be released on parole, with authorities finding he poses an unacceptable risk to the community.
Arthurs was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2007 for the “shocking and evil” ***** and ******* of eight-year old schoolgirl Sofia Rodriguez-Urrutia Shu.
Sofia went to the Livingston Marketplace in Canning Vale, in Perth’s southeast, with her family in June 2006 when Arthurs followed her to the toilet.

Arthurs, then aged 21 and working at the markets, grabbed Sofia and locked her in the disabled toilet.
Only 10 minutes later, the young schoolgirl was dead. Her brother discovered her body in the toilet cubicle as Arthurs fled the scene.
He pleaded guilty to ******* and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a non-parole ******* of 13 years – a sentence that was strongly condemned by the public and led to law changes in Western Australia.
The non-parole ******* for ******* was increased to carry a penalty of life imprisonment, and a distinction between ******* and wilful ******* was removed to only consider the charge of *******.
Never to be released sentences became available to all murders.
The Prisoners Review Board was required to consider Arthurs’ release from prison last Friday but refused his parole.
Attorney-General Tony Buti said Arthurs would remain in prison.

“It is clear to me after reading the report, the release of Mr Arthurs into the community posed an unacceptable risk,” he said.
“This was a shocking and evil crime that shook all Western Australians to the core and still does today.
“It is impossible to comprehend the pain and suffering Sofia’s family has endured and are forced to live with every day and my thoughts are with them.
“I want to assure Western Australians that when making these decisions the concerns of the community are at the forefront of my considerations.”
WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch previously told media that Arthurs should remain behind bars.
“I think people know me well enough to know what I think Dante Arthurs should be doing for the rest of his life,” he said.

US-backed group starts aid operations in Gaza while Israeli strikes pound region
US-backed group starts aid operations in Gaza while Israeli strikes pound region
A U.S.-backed group said it has opened a new aid system in Gaza and began delivering food to Palestinians on Monday while Israeli airstrikes continued to pound the territory, killing dozens.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is taking over the handling of desperately needed aid under a new, U.S. and Israeli-backed system despite concerns raised about the group from the United Nations and the recent resignation of its executive director.
Israel says more aid is entering Gaza after it blocked all food, medicine and fuel for 2 1/2 months. It let a trickle of aid enter last week after experts’ warnings of famine and pressure from some top allies. It says ****** has been siphoning off aid, but U.N. aid groups say there is no significant divergence of aid.
Israeli strikes on Monday killed dozens including children, local health officials said. Israel’s military said it targeted militants.
Israel has vowed to seize control of Gaza and fight until ****** is destroyed or disarmed and exiled, and until the militant group returns the remaining 58 hostages seized in the Oct. 7, 2023, attack that sparked the war.
******-led militants killed some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted 251 people in the 2023 attack. Israel’s retaliatory offensive has killed around 54,000 Palestinians, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants in its count.
Here’s the latest:
New aid distribution underway
A new aid system in Gaza has opened its first distribution hubs in the territory.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said it began delivering food to Palestinians at distribution sites on Monday. The aid comes at a times when Palestinians are facing growing hunger after Israel’s nearly three-month blockade to pressure ******.
The group did not say how many truckloads of food had been delivered to its hubs or where the sites were operating.
It did say in statement that more trucks with aid will be delivered on Tuesday and that the amounts of aid will increase each day.
170 trucks with aid cross into Gaza
The Israeli military says 170 trucks with food, medicine and medical supplies crossed into the Gaza Strip on Monday.
It says the trucks belonging to the United Nations and other aid groups came in through the Kerem Shalom crossing after a rigorous security inspection.
After pressure from allies and warnings of famine, Israel started letting in some aid last week after a nearly three-month blockade. U.N. agencies say much more is needed, pointing out that around 600 trucks a day entered during the recent ceasefire to meet basic needs.
Colombia’s new ambassador promises medical help for Palestinians
Colombia’s newly appointed ambassador to the ************ territories says the South American nation is willing to provide medical treatment to “thousands” of Palestinians who have been injured during Israel’s military offensive in the Gaza Strip.
Ambassador Jorge Ivan Ospina told The Associated Press that Colombia is particularly interested in providing medical treatment to children who have been wounded in Israeli strikes. He didn’t say how patients would be evacuated to Colombia, or how ************ families could seek treatment there.
“The world cannot turn a blind eye” to civilians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, Ospina said. “People cannot die of hunger. They must receive immediate medical attention and must be rehabilitated.”
Colombia, which backs a two-state solution to the conflict, broke off diplomatic ties with Israel last year.
Netanyahu says the government is advanc ing plans to develop ‘all parts of Jerusalem’
The Israeli prime minister spoke at a special government meeting marking Israel’s conquest of the city’s eastern sector.
The meeting was held in a divisive east Jerusalem location known as The City of David. It is a popular archaeological and tourist site in the ************ neighborhood of Silwan, with some of the oldest remains of the 3,000-year-old city. Critics accuse the site’s operators of pushing a nationalistic agenda at the expense of local ************ residents.
At the meeting, the government approved a resolution to encourage and financially support foreign countries in establishing or relocating their embassies to Jerusalem, according to a joint statement by Foreign Minister Gideon Saar and the Minister for Jerusalem Affairs and Jewish Heritage Meir Porush.
Israel captured east Jerusalem, home to the city’s most sensitive holy sites, in the 1967 ******** war and annexed the area in a move that is not internationally recognized. The Palestinians seek east Jerusalem as the capital of a future independent state.
“Jerusalem, our eternal capital, was reunited 58 years ago in the Six-Day War. It will never be divided again,” Netanyahu said in remarks at the start of the meeting. “We will preserve a united, complete Jerusalem, and the sovereignty of Israel.”
Young Israeli nationalists march and chant ‘Death to Arabs’
Groups of young Israelis made their way through ******* neighborhoods of Jerusalem’s Old City ahead of an annual march marking Israel’s conquest of the eastern part of the city.
************ shopkeepers had closed up early and police lined the narrow alleys ahead of the march, which often becomes rowdy and sometimes violent. The march commemorates Jerusalem Day, marking Israel’s 1967 capture of east Jerusalem, including the Old City and its holy sites sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims.
Police said they had detained a number of individuals to prevent confrontations.
Germany’s chancellor says he doesn’t understand what Israel is trying to achieve in Gaza
Friedrich Merz told a forum organized by WDR television that “what the Israeli army is now doing in Gaza — I don’t understand, to say it openly.”
“Affecting the civilian population to the extent that has increasingly been the case in recent days can no longer be justified by a fight against the terrorism of ******,” Merz said.
Israeli protesters who stormed the UN compound are joined by a lawmaker
The Israeli protesters who stormed the UNRWA compound in east Jerusalem were joined by Yulia Malinovsky, one of the legislators behind an Israeli law that banned UNRWA.
Israel has accused the agency, which is the biggest aid provider in Gaza, of being infiltrated by ******, allegations denied by the U.N.
There was no immediate comment from Israeli police.
UN agency for Palestinians says Israeli protesters have broken into its compound in east Jerusalem
The U.N. agency for ************ refugees says Israeli protesters have broken into its compound in east Jerusalem.
UNRWA West Bank coordinator Roland Friedrich said around a dozen Israeli protesters, including a member of parliament, forcefully entered the compound on Monday.
Israeli far-right Cabinet minister visits flashpoint Jerusalem holy site
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said Jewish worship was allowed at a flashpoint Jerusalem holy site as he visited the holy hilltop compound, known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary.
“Today, thank God, it is possible to pray on the Temple Mount, to bow (in prayer) on the Temple Mount,” he said, according to a statement from his office.
Palestinians and the broader ******* world view Jewish visits to the sacred site as a provocation. An understanding between Israeli and religious authorities at the site holds that Jews cannot pray there.
****** warns Palestinians not to work with the new aid group backed by US and Israel
****** is warning Palestinians in Gaza not to cooperate with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, claiming that the group aims to further Israel’s plans to transfer Gaza’s population to other countries. ****** didn’t offer evidence for the claim.
U.N. agencies and aid groups have refused to cooperate with the GHF, saying it would fail to meet Gaza’s mounting needs, give Israel control over who receives aid and cause mass displacement by forcing Palestinians to relocate to distribution hubs.
US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem visits Israel after Washington shooting
Noem’s visit comes in solidarity with Israel after the fatal shooting in Washington last week of two Israeli Embassy employees.
Noem said that President Donald Trump had asked her to come to Israel after the shootings of Sarah Milgrim, an American citizen, and Yaron Lischinsky, an Israeli. A suspect identified as Elias Rodriguez said he “did it for Palestine,” according to court papers.
Noem told Israel’s leaders that Trump “stands with you as we fight this hatred in the world.” She said Milgrim and Lischinsky’s lives “will bring a unity among us that will help us defeat our enemies.”
The Israeli military says 3 projectiles have been fired from Gaza
The military says the projectiles were fired toward southern Israel. Two landed inside Gaza and one was intercepted by Israel’s missile defense system.
Militants in Gaza still occasionally fire rockets toward Israel, a sign of their tenacity even after more than 19 months of grueling war in the territory and an intensifying Israeli offensive.
A US-backed group still plans to begin aid distribution in Gaza after its director resigns
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s executive director, Jake Wood, said he was stepping down because the GHF would not be allowed to operate independently.
The foundation — made up of former humanitarian, government and military officials — is the linchpin of a new aid system for Gaza that would wrest aid distribution away from aid groups who have traditionally carried out the task.
“Our trucks are loaded and ready to go,” GHF said, adding that it plans to reach more than 1 million Palestinians by the end of the week.
Australia’s prime minister calls Israel’s blockade of Gaza aid ‘outrageous’
It was the strongest language to date from Anthony Albanese on the Gaza humanitarian crisis.
“It is outrageous that there be a blockade of food and supplies to people who are in need in Gaza,” Albanese told reporters in the *********** capital Canberra on Monday.
Albanese said that Australia finds “Israel’s excuses and explanations completely untenable and without credibility.”
“People are starving, and the idea that a democratic state withholds supply is an outrage,” he added.

Real Reason Elden Ring Nightreign Has a Self-Revive Feature
Real Reason Elden Ring Nightreign Has a Self-Revive Feature
Elden Ring is one of the best games that is currently out there in the entire gaming space, and now with Elden Ring Nightreign on the way, fans of the Soulsborne genre can’t seem to sit still. This new spin-off is bringing in a sort of roguelike, co-op battle-royale element to the original game, where players can revive each other and face off against bosses together.
Thinking about solo players as well, the developers have also added a self-revive feature where players can revive themselves, even when they are playing without any teammates. Let’s delve further into this and find out more.
Nightreign promises a player-centered experience
Elden Ring Nightreign is a cooperative action role-playing game made by FromSoftware, and it is supposed to release on May 30th of this year. The game actually takes place in a procedurally generated version of Limgrave known as Limveld, and while Nightreign does have a single-player mode, it is highly suggested by the developers that it should be played with teammates.
FromSoftware added a lot of new elements in the new title in order to make the cooperative gameplay flow a little bit better, where you can revive your teammate by hitting them repeatedly when they are in a near-death state. Although this works properly in multiplayer mode, during solo-play, players have to rely on themselves to be revived when fighting a boss.
In a recent interview between IGN and the director of Elden Ring Nightreign, Junya Ishizaki, he commented on how the solo play works in Nightreign. When asked about the solo experience of the game and if there are any unique features specifically for solo players or not, he replied that there is a self-revive feature, and it is possible to discover around the map.
Of course there are no revives when you’re solo, there are no teammates to revive you, so it is definitely a more challenging thing for the player to face. But we have also incorporated a self-revive feature which is possible to discover around the map just to allow them some more chances to continue that learning of the patterns and learning of the bosses without having to restart all over again.
In the same interview, Ishizaki also mentioned how Nightreign dynamically adjusts based on the number of players playing in that session, where the activeness and the aggression of the enemies will be scaled down if there are fewer players.
FromSoftware is redefining the entire Soulslike genre
Elden Ring Nightreign is adaptive based on the number of players | Image Credits: FromSoftware
Elden Ring Nightreign is not just writing another chapter in the Soulsborne genre, but it’s literally rewriting some of the core philosophies that make these games amusing. While it is a bold move and a step forward from what the genre actually is, with the gaming space evolving every day, this seems like the right way for FromSoftware.
Instead of just crafting a single-player experience that features the haunting beauty and relentless bosses, FromSoftware has built a game that is cooperative but also adapts to the way people play Nightreign, whether that’s with a squad of friends or entirely solo play.
This limited-use revive system gives solo players a second chance to learn the boss’s patterns, which is a small yet significant addition that respects the time and efforts of those lone wolves who want to play Nightreign alone. The developers are not softening the challenge of playing a Soulsborne game, but they are giving more ways to face the danger.

Sherpa legend summits Everest in record 31st climb
Sherpa legend summits Everest in record 31st climb
Veteran climbing guide Kami Rita Sherpa has reached the summit of Mount Everest for a record 31st time, further extending his own world record.
The 55-year-old was leading a group from the Indian Army and reached the summit in the early hours of Tuesday, according to Mingma Sherpa, chairman of expedition organiser Seven Summit Treks.
Kami Rita first summited the 8848.86-metre peak in 1994 and has climbed it nearly every year since, according to Guinness World Records.
A former porter-turned-guide, Kami Rita has also climbed several other Himalayan peaks over 8000 metres.
His closest rival, Pasang Dawa Sherpa, reached the summit twice this season, bringing his total to 29 ascents, according to expedition company Climbing the Seven Summits.
Earlier this month, British mountaineer Kenton Cool reached the summit of Mount Everest for the 19th time, breaking his own record for the most ascents by a climber not belonging to the ethnic Sherpa community.
Sherpas are an ethnic group from the region whose members often work as guides and porters for mountaineers from abroad.
Everest can be climbed from both Nepal and ********-administered Tibet, though most climbers take the southern route from Nepal, where permits cost about $US11,000 ($A17,000).
According to the Nepalese tourism authority, 468 mountaineers received this permit in the northern spring season.

North Korea makes arrests over botched ship launch
North Korea makes arrests over botched ship launch
North Korea has detained three shipyard officials over an accident during the launch of a new warship on Wednesday, state media say.
Parts of the 5,000-tonne destroyer’s bottom were crushed during the launch ceremony, tipping the vessel off balance.
An investigation into the incident, which North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un described as a “criminal act”, is ongoing.
KCNA, North Korea’s official news agency, identified those detained as the chief engineer of the northern Chongjin shipyard where the destroyer was built, as well as the construction head and an administrative manager.
The report said that the three were “responsible for the accident”.
On Friday, KCNA said the manager of the shipyard, Hong Kil Ho, had been summoned by law enforcers.
Satellite images showed the vessel lying on its side covered by large blue tarpaulins, and a portion of the vessel appeared to be on land.
North Korea’s state media did not mention any casualties or injuries at the time, downplaying the damage.
KCNA reported that there were no holes on the ship’s bottom – contrary to initial reports.
“The hull starboard was scratched and a certain amount of seawater flowed into the stern section,” the agency said.
Kim said on Thursday the accident was caused by “absolute carelessness, irresponsibility and unscientific empiricism”.
He added that those who made “irresponsible errors” would be dealt with at a plenary meeting next month.
It is not clear what punishment they might face, but the authoritarian state has a woeful human rights record.
It is uncommon for North Korea to publicly disclose local accidents – though it has done this a handful of times in the past.
This particular accident comes weeks after North Korea unveiled a similar 5,000-tonne destroyer, the Choe Hyon.
Kim had called that warship a “breakthrough” in modernising North Korea’s navy and said it would be deployed early next year.
