Print, Fly, Repeat: How a US Start-Up Is Reinventing Military Manufacturing One Drone at a Time
Print, Fly, Repeat: How a US Start-Up Is Reinventing Military Manufacturing One Drone at a Time
In a small industrial park in downtown Manassas, Virginia, the future of defense is taking shape, quite literally.
That’s where you can find RapidFlight, a young defense tech company, manufacturing autonomous drones for military applications.
“What RapidFlight is doing is really disrupting the way drones are designed and deployed to meet the new type of solutions and customer requirements that are just emerging as we go,” RapidFlight CEO Esina Alic told CBN News.
Fast, modular, and built on demand, their systems line up with the Trump administration’s call for a new era of technological innovation.
“For a future stamped with the American character, the federal government must become an early adopter and avid promoter of American technology,” said Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).
RapidFlight leverages 3D printing to go from blueprint to battlefield in a matter of days. Alic says this could give America and its partners a powerful edge.
“We deliver them mission-ready drones and interceptors that allies and United States Defense can afford and rely on, and we have this modular capability and tech that let us really change our design, real-time, based on emerging threats and missions,” she explained.
Brandon Smith, an engineer and RapidFlight’s VP of Strategy, says recent conflicts highlight the power of affordable and adaptable drones on an ever-changing battlefield.
“We’ve had demonstrations in Ukraine with the MOD over there…We got over there, we performed our first mission. They said, ‘That’s nice, but we need this right now,’ and we changed the design on the fly and supported their need. And then they said, ‘Oh, that’s nice, but we’ve changed again. We need this.’ The modern battlefields are changing so fast that your traditional manufacturing and traditional contracting approach within the DOD just doesn’t keep pace anymore, and RapidFlight really resolves that,” Smith said.
He went on to explain how their drones are designed to be able to do anything the customer requires.
“We do rapid payload integration. So we have a common avionics system that allows us to plug-and-play, or develop new drivers for any new technology, any new payload that our customer wants to go in. So we’re not designed for one specific payload, although individual aircraft have accommodations for different things, like cameras, and cut-outs, and antennas, and things like that. Changing those payload configurations is kind of the thesis of RapidFlight, being able to change on the fly and adapt to user needs,” Smith told CBN News.
Their mobile production system also means drones can be mass-produced, any time, anywhere.
“You take the printers we have in our lab here, you take the manufacturing tables, tools, people, know how, you put all of that into a form factor that’s shippable all over the world, and deposit that in a place where it can run autonomously, depending on how long you supply it, for 30 to 60, 90 days…If they have stuff out in the field, they can come back to us and say, ‘I want to put this radio in this airplane.’ We do a quick design change on our end, send them the files electronically, and all of a sudden, you’re up and printing the tool you need at the moment you need it,” Smith said.
What’s just as important as the tech? Where it’s made. The Manassas facility represents a growing push to re-shore key defense capabilities, ensuring that critical systems are built on U.S. soil.
“By building on American soil, RapidFlight’s helped us lock-in secure supply chains, and we minimize reliance on foreign manufacturing and provide the support to U.S. defense industrial base…We’re building more than drones. We’re building national defense and national readiness and we are ready to project that power when it’s needed,” said Alic.
RapidFlight is one of several emerging defense tech companies drawing serious attention and contracts from the Department of Defense.
As global threats evolve, U.S. defense strategy seems clear: think small, move fast, and invest big in next-generation capabilities made right here at home.

Why Mana Shield Is the Most Underrated Defense Mechanic in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
Why Mana Shield Is the Most Underrated Defense Mechanic in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is a first-person open-world RPG that was released on May 23, 2025, for both PC and consoles and is finally out of early access.
Given its clear Arthurian inspiration and open world design, players can expect to be able to do a lot more than just explore the world – there is plenty of good combat to go around as well. Defense is one of your best options here, and the Mana Shield is likely the most underrated choice as of the current build.
The Mana Shield is one of the most powerful quirks in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is best described as an open-world RPG that emphasizes perfecting the most optimal build. Naturally, there are both defensive and offensive variants, with each version having a slightly different role.
Build make all the difference in progression | Image Credits: Questline
Builds also come equipped with multiple mechanics, of which the Mana Shield is very likely the best (and often, underrated) mechanic in the game right now. The ability can be best described as overpowered, and negates damage by a certain degree, allowing you to survive for longer and potentially win any difficult battles.
In short, Mana Shield allows for a portion of the enemy’s damage to be split into your Mana pool. For example, a 25% Mana Shield means that 25% of the received damage will be transferred onto your Mana bar, instead of being wholly absorbed by your HP bar.
As is quite obvious, this ability is most certainly cracked, and can come in handy in clutch situations. At 100% Mana Shield, your Mana meter becomes a shield of sorts.
Mana can behave as a shield | Image Credits: Questline
Taking damage will eat away at your Mana bar, which can be replenished over time, essentially making for a regenerating shield. When combined with potions, armor, and skills, this can make for a deadly build that renders one near-immortal.
Given the ability’s overpowered nature, it might only be a matter of time before the developers patch it out or introduce some countermeasures to make it less effective.
Other important builds and attributes you should pay attention to
A core part of The Fall of Avalon (like any good RPG) is in its build varieties. Players are free to experiment and try out whatever build they so desire, as long as it is actually effective in slaughtering enemies.
There’s plenty of build variety here, and tons of stats, weaponry, and armor to equip. As a general rule of thumb, try pairing similar attributes together for better results. Additionally, make sure to keep an eye out for your base stats, which should also determine your playstyle.
Players can choose between a glass cannon build (which sacrifices defense for strength/mobility) and a tank build, which achieves the opposite (enhanced strength over mobility).
Alternatively, it is also possible to build a more balanced setup, which sacrifices neither attribute for mediocre stats and damage output.

Kyle Webster and Jed Beaton set to resume rivalry at Manjimup 15000
Kyle Webster and Jed Beaton set to resume rivalry at Manjimup 15000
A generational battle reshaping *********** motocross is set to headline this year’s Manjimup 15000 weekend.
The two title challengers in Australia’s Pro MX1 Series, Honda Racing Australia’s Kyle Webster and Monster Energy CDR Yamaha rider Jed Beaton, have both announced they will be heading back west to tackle Australia’s fastest track, the Cosy Creek MX Circuit.
Webster, a WA local, will be looking for redemption this year, after he had what was set to be his inaugural Manjimup 15000 victory stolen away from him at the last grasp after crashing in the final race, having led the All-Star’s class all weekend in 2024.
Beaton snatched victory on that consequential first corner to claim his first Manjimup 15000 title, and the first for Yamaha since 2021.
“It’s racing, it’s a tough track, and it’s a hard first turn,” a deflated Webster said after watching Beaton take victory last year.
“Third place seems to haunt me here. I’ve been third too many times.”
The two took this momentum from last year’s Manjimup 15000 weekend into the remainder of the 2024 Pro MX1 series, with the two trading wins across the remaining rounds in what was described as the tightest fight in *********** motocross history.
The two finished the 2024 Pro MX1 season equal on 382 points, with Webster taking the crown by means of a countback, having claimed a higher number of wins across the year.
Now, after four rounds in the 2025 Pro MX1 series, the close battle continues, with Beaton leading Webster 160 points to 147, with the pair again sitting first and second in the title race respectively.
Beaton said he and Webster are rivals on track but have developed a good friendship off track.
“For the fan side of things, our rivalry is probably the best thing for *********** motocross at the moment,” he said.
“We’re rivals on the track, but off track, we train together every day with my brother on his program.
“So yeah, we kind of know where each other’s at and I think, in one way, we help each other raise the bar a little bit.”
The 2025 Manjimup 15000 is set to take place this weekend.

Trump has ordered a critically ill four-year-old ******** girl to leave the country. She could die within days, experts say
Trump has ordered a critically ill four-year-old ******** girl to leave the country. She could die within days, experts say
A critically ill ******** girl who could die within days if her treatment is paused has been ordered by the Trump administration to leave the U.S., according to her family and doctor.
Deysi Vargas’s 4-year-old daughter, named only as Sofia in a GoFundMe page, urgently required better medical care for a life-threatening condition and was granted temporary humanitarian permission to enter the U.S. from her home country of Mexico in 2023, The Los Angeles Times reports.
Sofia has short bowel syndrome, a rare condition that stops her from absorbing nutrients in food. When she was born in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, she had to be attached to feeding tubes 24 hours a day. Since moving to the U.S., her condition has significantly improved, but she still requires treatment every day.
Now the Trump administration has ordered Sofia’s deportation, leaving her at risk of death, an attorney representing the family said.

“This is a textbook example of medical need,” Rebecca Brown of the pro bono firm Public Counsel told the paper. “This child will die and there’s no sense for that to happen. It would just be a cruel sacrifice.”
The family is currently living in Bakersfield, California, just over 100 miles north of Los Angeles.
The threat to Sofia’s life was confirmed by Dr. John Arsenault of the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she receives regular treatment every six weeks.
Now the Trump administration has told the family to leave the country. Sofia’s doctor said that if her treatment is interrupted, ‘it could be fatal within a matter of days’ (Jeremy Cohen/Courtesy of Public Counsel)
Arsenault said in a letter seen by The Los Angeles Times that if there is an interruption to administering nutrition to her system, “it could be fatal within a matter of days.”
The doctor added that patients who receive the treatment, called Total Parenteral Nutrition, at home “are not allowed to leave the country.”
“The infrastructure to provide TPN or provide immediate intervention if there is a problem with IV access depends on our program’s utilization of U.S.-based healthcare resources and does not transfer across borders,” Arsenault explained in the letter.
The Independent has contacted the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for comment.
Sofia was born one month premature and had to undergo six surgeries due to an intestinal blockage, as medics struggled to get the condition under control in Mexico.
During one surgery, Vargas, 28, told the newspaper that doctors cut out too much, leaving Sofia with short bowels. One blood infection she suffered as a result nearly killed her.
Little Sofia has spent much of her young life in the hospital undergoing treatment. She was finally discharged in September 2024, but requires daily care and medication (Deysi Vargas)
While she was being kept alive in Mexico, her condition was no better by the age of two and Vargas knew the family would have to move to get her better care.
Vargas signed up to the Biden administration’s CBP One app to book an appointment with border agents in Tijuana to receive two-year protection from deportation. The app is now used by the Trump administration to notify migrants to self-deport or face the consequences.
At the appointment on July 31, 2023, agents could tell that Sofia was seriously unwell just by taking one look at her. “God knew she needed better treatment,” Vargas told The Los Angeles Times. “When we got to the entrance, they saw her and asked us if we needed medical help.”
That same day, the family was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego and her condition improved quickly. A year later, Sofia was referred to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, which has one of the highest-ranked programs for gastroenterology in the U.S.
Under their care, by September 2024, Sofia was discharged and could receive treatment in the comfort of her home. Meanwhile, her parents were working hard to hold down odd jobs in Bakersfield.
Sofia was born one month premature and had to undergo six surgeries due to an intestinal blockage, as medics struggled to get the condition under control in Mexico (Deysi Vargas)
“It was incredible,” Vargas, who found a steady job as a cleaner at a restaurant, told the outlet. “I had waited so long for doctors to tell me, ‘Ma’am, your daughter is OK now. She can go home.’”
Sofia’s care is still gruelling. She must still spend 14 hours a night hooked up to the intravenous feeding system and Vargas also has to administer different medication that goes into her stomach through a gastric tube four times a day. At preschool, a school nurse has to administer nutrition daily.
As things were beginning to look up, the notice from immigration arrived, swiftly followed by a notice terminating her employment authorization.
Their attorney believes the family’s legal status was terminated by mistake and has submitted a petition for a continuation of temporary humanitarian legal status because of Sofia’s medical condition.
“This is the intended purpose — to help the most vulnerable who need attention here,” Brown said. “We can avoid having harmed the child and the family.”
Vargas added that they only intend to stay for as long as Sofia requires treatment, which is unclear.

Kojima Explains Why Physint Is His Return To MGS-Like Action/Espionage
Kojima Explains Why Physint Is His Return To MGS-Like Action/Espionage
In addition to Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Hideo Kojima has his next few years of game development laid out for him between his horror title OD and Physint, an upcoming action-espionage game that will revisit the genre of his most famous creation, Metal Gear Solid. Now, Kojima has disclosed that the genesis of his return to the MGS-style genre came during a personal health crisis.
“Of course, I have lots of new ideas that I want to create, but when I became sick during the pandemic, I realized that a lot of people wanted me to make something like Metal Gear,” Kojima told Edge Magazine via GamesRadar. “That’s when I had the idea for a new espionage game. I reflected, and thought the idea was good.”
Like the Death Stranding games, Physint will be published by Sony, while OD will be published by Microsoft. Earlier this year, Kojima noted that both games have been impacted by the ongoing voice actors strike. But even without that delay, Kojima noted that Physint is still “five to six years away” from release, which may push it outside of the current console generation.
Kojima hasn’t shared any plot details about Physint yet, but he has indicated that it will use “cutting-edge” technology to create a hybrid game and movie experience. One title Kojima specifically won’t make is Death Stranding 3, but he has an idea for what the sequel could be and he wants someone else to make it. Kojima recently shared an idea for another game, which may be difficult to effectively pull off. Additionally, Kojima disclosed that he has a USB full of ideas to be used for future games in the event of his death.
In the meantime, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be released on June 26 on PlayStation 5.

Destiny 2 Devs Were Reportedly “Scolded” Over Microtransaction Shortfall
Destiny 2 Devs Were Reportedly “Scolded” Over Microtransaction Shortfall
In the ever-evolving world of game development, few studios wear as many battle scars as Bungie. From bringing Halo to redefining online shooters with Destiny 2, the studio has built a legacy, but lately, it’s been more about making headlines than high scores.
The latest twist? Reports are surfacing that Destiny 2 developers were given a literal scolding for not pushing enough microtransactions. Yes, the studio’s upper management wanted players to not only grind for loot but also for their wallets.
As if that wasn’t enough, there’s a report that they were floating the idea of a full-blown subscription service. Let’s dive into the drama.
Inside Bungie: Where monetization took the spotlight
At Bungie, the atmosphere has reportedly been less Guardians working together and more like Game of Thrones, a studio edition. According to former employees who spoke with Save State Plus (via Gamespot), leadership has been creating a hostile work environment.
The studio is filled with public callouts, dismissive attitudes toward creative ideas, and a not-so-subtle obsession with monetization. It seems like somewhere between designing alien worlds and balancing loot drops, devs were hit with what’s being called a “monetization scolding.”
Why? Because players weren’t spending enough. Higher-ups at Bungie, it seems, wanted more, a lot more. In one particularly eyebrow-raising move, studio heads allegedly pitched a subscription model for Destiny 2, on top of existing PlayStation Plus.
Fortunately, this bold and greedy idea was reportedly met with fierce internal resistance from the developers. The pushback ultimately shut it down, but not without consequences.
The pushback was reportedly followed up with a lecture about finding more ways to “encourage” in-game spending. For a studio that once built its name on bold, player-first innovations, this turn toward greed over creativity has left many questioning whether it has lost sight of what made it special.
What’s next for Bungie? Trouble ahead or a new start?
Turns out the real endgame was inside the office all along. | Image Credit: Bungie
It’s no secret that Bungie has been navigating stormy weather lately. From previous lay-offs to financial books in the dumps, the downfall of yet another once great studio has been painful. If that wasn’t enough, the pressure to monetize has only been intensified, if the above information is to be believed.
It’s a risky strategy, for sure, in a player base already fatigued by nickel-and-diming. And when the devs themselves are being chewed out for not squeezing players’ wallets harder, it’s clear the studio might be battling the wrong kind of grind.
To put things way under, the studio’s next big project, Marathon, hasn’t exactly won any hearts. In fact, it has raised even more questions about Bungie’s management, as the studio was hit by plagiarism accusations and community skepticism. The game’s future feels uncertain.
In the end, Bungie’s biggest challenge may not be designing the next killer raid or multiplayer mode that amazes us, it’s restoring trust, both within its own walls and with the community that built its legacy.
Because when the studio’s most explosive conflict is happening off-screen, no amount of glimmer and design can buy back goodwill.

Trump administration asks Supreme Court to step into court fight over deportations to third countries
Trump administration asks Supreme Court to step into court fight over deportations to third countries
Washington — The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Tuesday to lift a lower court order that blocked immigration authorities from removing migrants to third countries without first providing them certain due process rights while a legal battle over President Trump’s deportation efforts continues.
The request for emergency relief from Solicitor General D. John Sauer stems from a preliminary injunction granted by U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy last month in a challenge brought by four migrants who are subject to final orders of removal.
The district judge’s order prevented the administration from deporting any migrant detainee unless it first provides written notice of the third country to which they may be removed and gives them a “meaningful opportunity” to raise a fear of torture in that third country, among other conditions. In his ruling, Murphy found it is likely that federal immigration officials “have applied and will continue to apply the alleged policy of removing aliens to third countries without notice and an opportunity to be heard on fear-based claims — in other words, without due process.”
“Defendants argue that the United States may send a deportable alien to a country not of their origin, not where an immigration judge has ordered, where they may be immediately tortured and killed, without providing that person any opportunity to tell the deporting authorities that they face grave danger or death because of such a deportation,” Murphy wrote. “All nine sitting justices of the Supreme Court of the United States, the assistant solicitor general of the United States, Congress, common sense, basic decency, and this court all disagree.”
But in seeking relief from the Supreme Court, Sauer accused the district court of stalling the administration’s efforts to remove what he described as “some of the worst of the worst ******** aliens.”
“Those judicially created procedures are currently wreaking havoc on the third-country removal process,” Sauer wrote. “In addition to usurping the Executive’s authority over immigration policy, the injunction disrupts sensitive diplomatic, foreign-policy, and national-security efforts.”
The emergency appeal is the latest in which the Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to step into the slew of legal battles targeting many aspects of President Trump’s second-term agenda. But the president’s policies on immigration, in particular, have created escalating showdowns with the federal judiciary.
As part of Mr. Trump’s efforts to crack down on immigration, his administration has approached countries like Libya, Rwanda and Costa Rica to accept migrants who are not their citizens, according to documents obtained by CBS News. The Trump administration has already sent more than 200 Venezuelans to El Salvador, where they are being detained at its notorious prison, the Terrorism Confinement Center, or CECOT.
This is a developing story and will be updated

The Expensive Type Of Steak Kim Jong-Un Eats
The Expensive Type Of Steak Kim Jong-Un Eats
Kim Jong-Un was not originally supposed to succeed his father, Kim Jong-Il, as the Supreme Leader of North Korea. For a time, it seemed that the dictator might be replaced by his eldest son, Kim Jong-Nam, or his second-oldest son, Kim Jong-Chol. But Jong-Nam made mistakes (most notably getting caught in Japan with a fake passport trying to visit Tokyo Disneyland), and Jong-Chol was reportedly seen as too feminine for Jong Il’s tastes. Jong-Un was the most like his father, not only in terms of ruthlessness, but in terms of his preference for expensive cuts of steak. (This, despite the fact that the people of North Korea have been dealing with famine and food shortages for decades.)
Kenji Fujimoto, the personal sushi chef for Kim Jong-Il who correctly predicted that Jong-Un would succeed him as leader, spilled some tea about Jong-Un’s expensive tastes. He would often make sushi for the future leader when preparing meals for Jong-Un’s father, and recalled banquets with rich, decadent foods such as shark fin soup and, indeed, Kobe steak — a kind of Wagyu beef with intricate marbling that makes it incredibly tender and flavorful. Because the standards for what can be called Kobe beef are so exacting, it’s incredibly expensive, costing anywhere between $200 and $500 per pound. But for men like Kim Jong-Un, money (or consideration for his populace) is clearly no object.

Kobe Beef Isn’t The Only Expensive Food The Kims Enjoy

Kim Jong-Un acquired his expensive taste from his father. They often ate Kobe steak together. Chef Kenji Fujimoto reported that both Jong-Il and Jong-Un favored the toro (the fatty meat of the tuna belly) when eating sushi. Beyond the influence of his father, Kim Jong-Un has been known to consume a litany of luxurious foods: caviar, foie gras, lobster, Parma ham, and expensive whiskeys, cognacs, and champagnes. He has also displayed some tastes which are more pedestrian, like meaty pizzas and Emmental cheese (which can be used to top your French onion soup). However, Kim may have taken them to extremes. It was once rumored that he ate cheese so much that he began hiding from the public.
As for the rest of North Korea, they don’t eat quite so luxuriously. Common dishes include injo gogi bap (a kind of sausage made out of soybeans), kimchi (a dish they have in common with their neighbors to the south, despite South Korea’s occasional kimchi shortage), and maize porridge.

A Rockstar Tradition That Makes Me Feel Worthless as a PC User Better Not Make It to GTA 6
A Rockstar Tradition That Makes Me Feel Worthless as a PC User Better Not Make It to GTA 6
With GTA 6 releasing as soon as next year, I was taken aback by a trend I noticed long ago. I was a happy lad enjoying Rockstar-made games on PC when I was young, but I’m sure I was not the only one. It was wrong in certain ways, but there’s a reason why Grand Theft Auto has a huge fan following. Everyone has nostalgia attached to it, which makes the franchise special to many.
However, once the PlayStation 3 era began, I soon came to a wild realization. There’s a little tradition that Rockstar Games has followed since the PlayStation 2 era. They’ve always delayed their games by one year whenever they release for the PC platform. I don’t want YouTube to be my go-to once the new game releases!
Rockstar has delayed PC releases and kept consoles as a priority
Imagine seeing those cripsy pixels on PC. | Image Credit: Rockstar Games
The curiosity began when Rockstar released GTA 5 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox One. I looked everywhere on game store shelves for a PC version, but saw none. Thus, the search began on the internet, and I saw an interesting trend that many didn’t realise sooner. Maybe people need this reminder with the GTA 6 release on the horizon.
Ever since Grand Theft Auto 3, Rockstar has not released a single game on the said release date for all platforms. It has always been consoles first and PC later. Why do they give exclusive treatment to consoles? We all know PCMR is the most supreme platform for gaming, so why be left out?
Initially, I thought maybe they have an exclusivity contract with consoles to give them good sales, thanks to some rumors. But they were false, and just a blatant internet theory to catch some attention.
Coming down to the question again, why are they doing it? It doesn’t make sense. Surprisingly, I got blessed with an interview by PCGamesN back in December 2023. Thanks for feeding my curiosity. The interview featured an ex-Rockstar dev, who highlighted that PC versions were not on their priority list.
Mike York, a former animator for Rockstar who worked on Grand Theft Auto 5, revealed why PC gamers are of lesser priority. Honestly, it is not much of a surprise, but it makes sense. Maybe they’ll do the same for GTA 6 as well.
The reason why a PC port comes later and why it’s not the first thing that comes out, is because they want to prioritize what sells. In the past, PlayStation was the big seller. What the developer would do is focus all their energy on making sure the PlayStation port worked really good… We put all our energy into that and optimizing it the best we can for that console.
PC ports have been of lower priority because Rockstar has a small team, and it’s hard to work on all of them at once. Moreover, releasing the games on consoles first is more profitable as they give immediate results. Letting Rockstar recover and keep the company running so that they can keep working.
It’s not so bad to receive GTA 6 for PC later on
You might say I’m coping, but in some ways, it is good that Rockstar delayed the game for PC. Many developers have messed up PC ports by releasing them at the same time as consoles. Moreover, it does feel good that consoles are only seen as cash cows for Rockstar.
PC players are actually provided with a more polished game, as they get more time. For instance, Red Dead Redemption 2 looked more impressive than its console alternative. Moreover, it is not locked at 30 FPS, which consoles are stuck with, and they complain about it, too.
If Rockstar wishes to keep the PCMR happy with a superior-quality game, then be my guest. When I was young, I felt like having the latest and greatest was a privilege. Now that I value quality over quantity, things are more bearable. Still, to a certain extent, it does feel bad to be left out.
I’m not complaining, but the feeling remains, and many PC gamers probably feel the same. It’s better if Rockstar doesn’t repeat this pattern with GTA 6, as it is the most anticipated game of the decade. There are risks of spoilers, too, which none of us wants. So please, Rockstar, break out of it for once.
Are you Grand Theft Auto fan on PC platform? Do you feel the same way about Rockstar delaying their games for the platform? Do you think GTA 6 will repeat the same mistake?

S&P 500 jumps 2% on EU tariff delay, consumer confidence data
00:00 Speaker A
We’re going to start this week off in the green rally mode. Of course we had that consumer confidence report this morning, a rebound, that helps. The US EU tariff reprieve, that helps. Uh, rallying global bonds, the bounce we saw in the JGBs, Japanese government bonds all added up, got the Dow up about 740 points. The S&P 500, your broad gauge, tacking on more than 2%, and the Nasdaq adds 2 and a half percent in today’s trade. Now to Jared for a closer look at today’s sector action.
00:34 Jared
Thank you, Josh. Uh, let’s check out the YFi interactive here. We are closing at the highs of the day. This is a Dow right here. Good for 740 points. Uh, not quite 2% here, but the Nasdaq exceeding that 2 and a half percent up on the day. And there’s another market up at the close, at the highs of the day. Finally, here’s the S&P 500 a little bit less than that 2.05%, a very similar looking chart. By the way, these are the best days in the market since May 12th. So that’s over two weeks. And we can also see some of the risk on action in the VIX, which is going the opposite way. Uh, lower VIX usually, uh, concurrent with a rising stock market, and that’s what we saw today back below the 20 mark. And we can also take a look at the 10 and 30 year T-bond yields. Uh, here’s the 10 year T-note yield. That was down seven basis points to 4.43%. And the 30 year, as I’ve been talking about all today, down below 5% again, down about nine basis points. Uh, also, real quick, US dollar index up just a little bit off of those lows, pretty close to three year lows. So that’s an important development as well. Here is the sector action. Everything in the green led by consumer discretionary, led by tech. Those were the only two out performers, but don’t count out industrials, financials, materials. Those are on the top rows as well, up over one and three quarters of a percent. And you can really see the strength of the market, especially in the tech sphere, on this Nasdaq 100 heat map, where we have Tesla up 7%, Broadcom up 3%, uh, Pinduoduo, uh, bad earnings report there. That’s not it. Pinduoduo, uh, soft sales, 13.64% down on the day. Looking at China real quick, that was another kind of sore spot, but you’re not going to see a lot of red like this on most of the other boards. We can look at the Dow. We can look at, uh, the Dow transports. Those were just the industrials. Everything in the green here, United Airlines, Delta Airlines up, almost 5%, 3% respectively. And then we can take a look at our leaders as well. So a couple things didn’t work today. I already pointed out China, cannabis, and emerging markets, not so good. But Ark Innovation Fund, uh, we’ll take a peek at that in a second. Also the MAG seven, also the chip trade, and small caps. So pretty broad base of US based assets looking good today. And I’ll just close on this. This is the Ark Innovation Fund. You can out Tesla. Most of these are smaller names. Shopify up 5%, Hood up 4 and a half percent. So all around the tech sphere looking pretty bullish today.

Blizzard Is Giving Away Free WoW Classic: Mists Of Pandaria Boosts, But You’ll Have To Earn It
Blizzard Is Giving Away Free WoW Classic: Mists Of Pandaria Boosts, But You’ll Have To Earn It
World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Classic will launch July 21, Blizzard has announced, and there will be a new way to get brought up to speed for those who haven’t played some of the game’s previous Classic expansions.
Blizzard has long sold WoW character boosts, and in WoW Classic, started selling them ahead of the arrival of The Burning Crusade Classic. The boosts give players who didn’t play the previous expansion a chance (for a price) to jump straight into the new content. This time, however, Blizzard is giving players a way to earn a boost for free, but it will require some legwork.
One free level 85 character boost will be given to players who defeat the Dreadlord Balnazzar, the first boss of the new Scarlet Enclave raid added in April to WoW Classic’s more experimental Season of Discovery servers, before June 30. Those who have already defeated Balnazzar prior to the announcement of the promotion will be retroactively awarded a boost.
The boost can be used to instantly bring a character to level 85 on the game’s Cataclysm servers, which will soon transform into Mists of Pandaria servers come the arrival of the expansion pre-patch on July 1. Players will need an active WoW subscription to take advantage of the boost, as it’s required to play WoW Classic.
It’s a nice way for Blizzard to attempt to convert some Season of Discovery players to jump into Mists of Pandaria Classic, but given the amount of time and effort required to gear up to take on the Scarlet Enclave raid, the number of players who will be able to take advantage of the free boost seems like it will be fairly small. Perhaps an additional reward will be enough for some players to push through, but for those who can’t be bothered, Blizzard is also offering a $80 bundle that includes a paid level 85 character boost, game time, and additional cosmetics. Mists of Pandaria Classic itself doesn’t have a box price, but does require a subscription or active game time to play.
WoW Classic: Mists of Pandaria comes roughly a year after Blizzard brought back the ********-themed expansion in the modern version of WoW for a limited time as part of its first WoW Remix event. While still featuring modern WoW’s gameplay, the event saw players make new characters and speedrun through Mists of Pandaria content with faster leveling speeds, powerful gems that triggered additional effects in combat, and new limited-time rewards like mounts and armor sets.
WoW’s next remix event will be for the popular Legion expansion later this year. Meanwhile, WoW’s long-awaited player housing system is still on track to arrive as part of its Midnight expansion. During a recent hands-on preview of WoW’s player housing, we said the possibilities for housing customization already feel endless.

A market options hedge as other risks lurking out there despite Tuesday’s rally
A market options hedge as other risks lurking out there despite Tuesday’s rally
Bond yields provide critical insights into economic expectations, inflation, and currency valuation. Higher bond yields, especially on government bonds, can signal expectations of stronger economic growth. Lower yields suggest economic slowdown or recession fears, as investors flock to safe assets, driving bond prices up and yields down. Higher economic growth is good, but higher inflation is not, and yields also incorporate inflation forecasts. Higher yields may also indicate rising inflation expectations, as investors demand compensation for eroding purchasing power. In theory, investors can distinguish whether yields are increasing due to better economic expectations or worse inflation expectations by observing the spread between nominal yields and inflation-protected securities (TIPS), which reflects breakeven inflation rates, or at least inflation as measured by CPI-U . Consumers generally favor a stronger currency, which increases their purchasing power of imported goods. Domestic producers and exporters favor a weaker currency, whose goods will be more competitive. Higher domestic yields, all else equal, elevate the local currency’s value. ‘Carry trade’ risk For instance, if U.S. 10-year yields rise relative to ******* bunds or Japanese bonds, the dollar may strengthen against the euro or yen. Lower yields reduce a currency’s appeal, potentially weakening it against other currencies, especially if other central banks offer higher rates. These yield differentials are key drivers in carry trades. A narrowing yield differential between U.S. and foreign bonds often pressures the dollar, and potentially other dollar-denominated risk assets. In early 2024, the spread between Japanese and U.S. Treasury rates began to narrow, falling by ~130 basis points from more than 4% to less than 2.8%. (1 basis point equals 0.01%.) This prompted concerns about substantial deleveraging as investors worried about an unwinding of the yen carry trade. A drop in U.S. rates propelled that swing, but Japanese government bond yields have recently risen sharply. This is problematic because it might pressure the carry trade if Japanese rates rise more quickly than US rates, and the amounts involved are substantial. Japan is even more indebted than the U.S. due to the size of its economy, roughly 250% of Japan’s GDP, with total government debt of approximately $8 trillion. If the spread does not compress, then that suggests U.S. Treasury rates would also rise, which could pressure other risk assets. If Japanese rates continue to increase, this presents a global risk. The S & P 500 has clawed back more than 70% of its peak-to-trough losses from the all-time highs in February, and the Cboe Volatility Index (VIX) , although elevated, is well off the April peak. For these reasons, I think re-initiating hedges might be advisable. For example, a June 30th (month-ending) SPDR S & P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) 575/525 put spread ($50 wide) cost ~ $8.90 per contract or just over 1.5% of the current share price of the ETF, and less than 18% of the difference between the strikes, offering a payoff of better than 4.5:1. Even Hidetaka Miyazaki Fans Want A24’s Elden Ring Movie to Focus on Vyke, the Almost Elden Lord
Even Hidetaka Miyazaki Fans Want A24’s Elden Ring Movie to Focus on Vyke, the Almost Elden Lord
If we were to make a list of characters done wrong in Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Elden Ring universe, Vyke would be pretty high on it. Don’t know who this guy is? Take a look at the game’s main cover, and the man you see kneeling down is the one tarnished NPC who came the closest to becoming an Elden Lord before us.
And while he has not been tributed to properly within the game itself, maybe it’s time that he gets the spotlight he deserves in the upcoming Elden Ring movie, which is made in collaboration with A24 studios and can potentially highlight the life of the almost Elden Lord.
The upcoming Elden Ring movie should focus on this one NPC that almost did the impossible
The man kneeling down in the Elden Ring key art is Vyke | FromSoftware
The Elden Ring storyline, created in collaboration with George R.R. Martin, reveals how the Tarnished come from the lineage of Godfrey and his warriors, who were forced out of The Lands Between. These people were then guided back to their home by the power of grace in hopes of reclaiming the power and becoming the Elden Lord once again.
Apart from our own playable character, the other Tarnished who has come the closest to achieving this goal is Vyke. Unfortunately, his role in the main game remains insignificant, and fans of the game, as seen on Elden Ring’s official subreddit, would like to see the upcoming movie focus solely on the supposedly powerful NPC:
The user u/Terrible_Length4413 in the post goes over how Vyke’s lore is the ‘perfect representation’ of FromSoftware’s storytelling, and is possibly the best part about Elden Ring to cover in the game’s upcoming movie if seen from a cinematic perspective.
Why Vyke deserves more love and respect from Elden Ring makers and fans alike
In the game, Vyke remains locked behind an Evergaol as an insignificant boss | FromSoftware
Vyke was a formidable warrior once. After claiming two great runes, he was on great progress of becoming the Elden Lord, but unfortunately didn’t have it in him to sacrifice his maiden in the process of doing so. Instead, he got engulfed by the outer god of Frenzy Frame and literally went mad, bringing his story to a tragic end.
Unfortunately, despite being a significant character storywise, all Vyke has gotten in the game is a small boss fight locked inside an Evergaol. While Hidetaka Miyazaki might not have done it before, it’s about time the renowned director gave one of his best-written characters the spotlight he deserves.
The details of the upcoming Elden Ring movie are still blurry. It is allegedly being made in collaboration with A24 Studios. If not the story of Vyke, then the movie can potentially cover this one war between Malenia and Radahn that changed the course of history forever.

Crispin Hughes/Alamy
A woman was tortured for days, killed and then put on display at the side of the river Thames in central London around 1200 years ago. The case is thought to be one of the only examples of a judicial execution of a woman in medieval England in the archaeological record.
“This isn’t the story of one blow, and it’s not clandestine,” says Madeleine Mant at the University of Toronto in Canada. “It’s the story of purposeful violence, and…

Switch 2 Consoles Seem To Already Be In People’s Hands
Switch 2 Consoles Seem To Already Be In People’s Hands
Switch 2 units are seemingly beginning to appear in the wild ahead of the console’s official launch next week. Multiple images and videos (some of which were pulled as this article was written) circulating online show what appear to be Switch 2 systems in stores and even potentially already at home with some users.
But the systems may nothing more than paperweights for now, as the Switch 2 is said to be unable to be used without a day-one mandatory online update. That might mean that anything more than further impressions of what it’s like to hold the unit will have to wait until launch day. You can read our initial hands-on impressions with Switch 2 for some sense of what to expect.
We can’t say for sure if any of the leaks thus far are legitimate. It’s a certainty that Nintendo is shipping units to stores ahead of the June 5 launch, so it’s possible that some legitimate footage is emerging and that people may have already gotten their hands on a unit.
A source told Wario64 that they obtained a Switch 2 console and tried to boot it up. However, the console reportedly returned the message, “Please connect to the internet and update your system.”
The Game Business reported that there will be a “significant” day one patch for the Switch 2. Exactly what’s included in the update, however, is unknown.
The Switch 2 officially launches on June 5, with Mario Kart World as a launch title. Preorder stock for the $450 system and the $500 Mario Kart World bundle are sold out, but keep checking back with GameSpot’s Switch 2 preorder guide to find out how to give yourself the best chance at getting a system.
Hopes are high for the Switch 2, with one company saying the Switch 2 is possibly the most important product launch in the history of gaming. Nintendo has officially forecast Switch 2 sales of 15 million units by the end of March 2026, but this may be an intentionally conservative projection.

The extremes of imagination reveal how our brains perceive reality
The extremes of imagination reveal how our brains perceive reality
Because we live our lives entirely in our own heads, understanding the contents of someone else’s — and how radically their experience might differ from our own — is hard. New research, though, is revealing just how diverse the human imagination can be.
Take the concept of a “mind’s eye”. You might take being able to conjure up mental images in your imagination as a given. But research from myself and others has shown that 1 to 4 per cent of the population have aphantasia, meaning they lack wakeful visual imagery – ask them to “see” a hippo floating down a river on a pink lilo, and nothing happens. (Most people with aphantasia experience visual imagery in their dreams, however.)
Living with aphantasia
Aphantasia is often associated with a “thinner” than usual memory for personal past or autobiographical events, and sometimes with autism and difficulties with face recognition. People with aphantasia are more likely than those with exceptionally vivid imagery to work in STEM areas. They often report that close relatives are also aphantasic, hinting at a genetic basis. Aphantasia may be protective in some ways, possibly offering some defence against medical conditions involving imagery, like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Fully understanding the brain signatures of aphantasia is a work in progress, but five papers published this year and last have begun to help us untangle what is going on. One brain-imaging study, for example, has shown how the regions associated with visual imagery do fire in those with aphantasia, but slightly differently, with less connectivity between the parts that deal with thought and vision.
What is hyperphantasia?
Hyperphantasia, the…

Driver held on suspicion of attempted *******

Fifty people have been treated in hospital following the ****** in Liverpool city centre
The driver of a car that ploughed into football fans during Liverpool’s Premier League victory parade is being held on suspicion of attempted *******, police have said.
Merseyside Police said a Ford Galaxy avoided a roadblock by tailgating an ambulance responding to reports of a member of the public having suffered a heart attack.
The force said the 53-year-old man, from the West Derby area of the city, was also being detained on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs.
A total of 50 people, including children, were treated in hospital following the incident in Water Street, which happened shortly after 18:00 BST on Bank Holiday Monday.
How Liverpool FC parade incident unfolded
Det Ch Supt Karen Jaundrill said there were 65 confirmed casualties following the incident.
Of the injured, police said 11 people remained in hospital.
All are said to be in a “stable” condition.
Merseyside’s Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said: “It is believed the driver of the Ford Galaxy car involved in this incident was able to follow an ambulance on to Water Street, after the roadblock was temporarily lifted so that the ambulance crew could attend to a member of the public who was having a suspected heart attack.”
She added: “There was no intelligence to suggest an incident of this nature would take place and, as we previously stated, the incident is not being treated as terrorism.”
PA Media
Det Ch Supt Karen Jaundrill and Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims updated reporters at a media conference
The senior officer defended the policing operation during the parade, which attracted hundreds of thousands of people to the city.
She told reporters that the force had planned for “all contingencies”, including road closures and an armed police presence.
Assistant Chief Constable Sims said “an extensive investigation into the precise circumstances of the incident” was continuing, and once again urged people not to speculate about what had happened.
The force has asked anyone with information about the incident to refrain from sharing it online and instead pass it on to police.

A police cordon remains in place while investigations continue
Earlier, Liverpool City Region mayor Steve Rotheram suggested the suspect’s car should not have been on Water Street and said questions about how it was able to be driven there were “legitimate”.
Water Street remains closed while investigations continue into the incident.
A police cordon remains in place, while members of the public have begun to lay flowers, cards and toys near the ****** scene.
Huge numbers of joyful Liverpool fans packed the city centre on Monday and lined the 10-mile (16km) parade route as the Reds celebrated winning their second Premier League crown and 20th top-flight league title.
Witnesses graphically described the terror of what happened after the Ford Galaxy smashed into a tightly packed section of the crowd that had gathered on the pavement outside a bar.
Some feared it was a terrorist attack.
Robbie Potter, who was severely injured in the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, was on Water Street.
“I thought it was happening again,” he told the BBC. “How did a car get through?
“From the videos, they’ve been very lucky.”
Meanwhile, Daniel Eveson’s partner was dragged under the car’s wheels and his baby son’s pram was tossed down the street.
For a moment, he said he did not know if they had survived.
Mr Eveson, from Telford, told BBC Radio Shropshire he saw “people going flying and people screaming and just terror, pure terror”, adding: “I thought I’d lost everything.”
The car struck Mr Eveson in the chest before his partner went under the wheels and was dragged down the road.
The impact spun their son’s pram about 15ft (4.5m) down the street.
Mr Eveson was able to locate his son, who was unharmed, and leave him in a restaurant with helpers as he went back to search for his partner.
PA Media
Jack Trotter, from Newtownards, County Down, was one of those hit by the car
Jack Trotter and his girlfriend Abbie Gallagher, from Newtownards in County Down, were hit by the car after it surged towards them.
“The first thought that I got was: ‘Where’s Abbie? I need to find Abbie’,” the Liverpool fan from Northern Ireland told the BBC.
“Where’s Abbie? You know she could be anywhere at this rate and lucky enough she was screaming my name and I found her.”
Mr Trotter was taken to hospital by ambulance and kept in overnight.
He sustained injuries to his back and leg and is now walking with crutches.
‘Shocked and saddened’
Following the incident, messages of support have been sent to the people of Liverpool, including from the King, who said: “I know that the strength of community spirit for which your city is renowned will be a comfort and support to those in need.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales also said they were “deeply saddened” by the incident, adding: “What should have been a joyful celebration ended with tragedy.”
The Princess Royal visited the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, where medical staff spoke of how they were “very, very fortunate” that more people had not been injured.
Reds legend and former captain Steven Gerrard posted on Instagram that he was “shocked, sickened and saddened” over the incident.
Meanwhile former Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp wrote that his “thoughts and prayers are with all those who are injured and affected”.
“You’ll never walk alone,” the statement concluded, referencing the club’s famous terrace anthem.

10 Years Later, Fallout 4 Fans Have Found One More Reason to Never Mess With the Legendary Alpha Deathclaw
10 Years Later, Fallout 4 Fans Have Found One More Reason to Never Mess With the Legendary Alpha Deathclaw
When it launched, Fallout 4 was quite a controversial game. However, Bethesda’s incredible world design and entertaining gameplay ultimately made the RPG a blast to play for loyal fans. Even though it’s been a decade since the release of the title, it’s still one of the best Fallout games to jump into.
What makes Fallout 4 truly unforgettable? Well, it’s the terrifying roster of monsters and enemies that lurk in the game’s irradiated hills and forests. Among them is the Legendary Alpha Deathclaw, a beast that veterans don’t dare to provoke. However, a new discovery has once again reminded players why getting near this monster is a bad idea.
Even the vault corridors aren’t safe in Fallout 4
Alpha Deathclaws are one of the deadliest creatures in the world of Fallout 4. These monsters are a variant of the normal Deathclaws with enhanced damage, speed, and health. If that wasn’t enough, we also have the Legendary Alpha Deathclaw in the game, who mutate faster and causes more chaos.
Usually, veteran Fallout 4 players don’t even bother going near the Legendary Alpha Deathclaw. However, over on r/fo4, one player made the mistake of approaching this beast. Their encounter with the Legendary Alpha Deathclaw soon became a horrifying moment as it entered the Vault corridor itself.
That’s right, the Legendary Alpha Deathclaw forced its way into the vault corridor. It’s considered to be a haven for players and the best place to retreat if there’s some threat on the map. However, that’s nothing for the Legendary Alpha Deathcraw as it charged through the entrance and chased the player.
Even seasoned players weren’t aware that the Legendary Alpha Deathclaw can squeeze into Vault corridors. Players in the comments are in complete shock and now feel that not a single place in the post-apocalyptic world is free from tension. Seriously, the clip went from Doom to Alien: Isolation gameplay in a matter of seconds.
Reports suggest a Fallout 4 spin-off is in the works
A Fallout 4 spin-off could rejuvenate the franchise. (Image via Bethesda Game Studios)
Well, if you’re someone who has easily sailed through all the enemies in Fallout 4 and is seeking a new challenge, there’s some good news. According to a report by Gameranx, we could soon see a Fallout 4 spin-off game.
It’s stated that the title is being developed by none other than Obsidian Entertainment, the minds responsible for giving us New Vegas. If you’re unaware, Xbox now owns both Bethesda and Obsidian Entertainment, which gives it control over the future of the Fallout franchise.
Todd Howard and his team are busy with The Elder Scrolls 6, and we all know that Fallout 5 is years away from hitting the shelves. The fact that it’s been 10 years since the release of Fallout 4 makes this an issue. Currently, we have no idea what this Fallout 4 spin-off could end up looking like.
It has been reported that it could make its debut in 2026. If that’s indeed the case, Obsidian Entertainment should’ve been working on it for years. However, let’s not forget that the studio recently released Avowed and is also currently working on The Outer Worlds 2.
With that said, what’s the deadliest enemy you’ve encountered in Fallout 4? Let us know in the comments below.
