Jen Psaki mocks Joe Rogan over MAGA white nationalist conspiracy theory and throws strays at new FBI leadership Jen Psaki mocks Joe Rogan over MAGA white nationalist conspiracy theory and throws strays at new FBI leadership On her MSNBC show Tuesday, host Jen Psaki mocked Joe Rogan while debunking a MAGA conspiracy theory propagated by the podcaster, which claims that the white supremacist group Patriot Front is actually the FBI. MAGA supporters have long advocated the idea that the Patriot Front is an FBI operation intended to amplify the perceived threat of white nationalist groups. Rogan endorsed this idea on his show as recently as March. Psaki, the former White House press secretary for President Joe Biden, played a clip of Rogan claiming that the group disbanded as soon as Kash Patel took over as director of the FBI under President Donald Trump. Joe Rogan has revealed that the former Egyptian Minister of Antiquities was the worst guest he’s ever had on his show (The Joe Rogan Experience) The host of The Briefing with Jen Psaki then set out why she says the claim was actually false. In the clip, Rogan is seen saying that he and author Matt Taibbi saw a video of Patriot Front, who appear in uniforms with their faces covered, and march carrying flags, and he said he had yelled: “They’re feds!” “Where’s the **** people?” he continues. “They’re all, they’re all wearing the same uniform. One guy’s got a f***ing drum. Get the f*** out of here! These are feds! The day after Kash Patel gets in, they disband.” Psaki explains that Patriot Front splintered off from the white nationalist group that planned the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, back in 2017, and has since “traveled all around the country spewing racist and antisemitic hate.” She continued: “But rather than just condemn the group, right-wing conspiracy theorists and Trump allies have insisted that Patriot Front is actually just the FBI trying to make white nationalism seem like a ******* threat than it actually is.” Members of Patriot Front at the annual March for Life in Washington in January 2025 (REUTERS) Psaki noted that it is not just Rogan pushing the idea, but also Elon Musk, as well as multiple members of Congress, including firebrand Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene. “The core of the theory goes like this. The reason this group wore uniforms in mass was to hide the fact that they were secretly FBI agents, obviously,” said Psaki. “And that once Kash Patel was in charge of the FBI, he would simply fire the agents involved, and the group would cease to exist. That’s how it goes.” She then added that Patel was sworn into office in February, and yet this past weekend, Patriot Front held a rally in Kansas City. A further clip of local news footage was then played with the anchor saying: “The group was in uniform, wearing tan hats, white masks covering their faces, Navy blue shirts, tan pants, and boots. Some were carrying shields.” He continued: “The flags they carried included upside-down American flags, the Confederate flag, and a flag that identifies the group as the Patriot Front.” Psaki then quipped: “Hmm, seems very much like Patriot Front still exists!” She then turned her attention to Trump’s FBI leadership — Patel and his deputy, Dan Bongino. “I wonder how FBI Director Kash Patel will explain that one. See, FBI Director Patel and his number two, Dan Bongino, have a problem,” said Psaki. “Both of them have spent years promoting conspiracy theories surrounding the FBI, but now they are actually in charge of the FBI. Now they are the dogs that caught the car.” Source link #Jen #Psaki #mocks #Joe #Rogan #MAGA #white #nationalist #conspiracy #theory #throws #strays #FBI #leadership Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]

We’re about to unlock the secrets of ancient human brains We’re about to unlock the secrets of ancient human brains Brains preserved for hundreds of years can contain intact proteins Alexandra Morton-Hayward It is now possible to obtain proteins from preserved soft tissues like brains. The new method could reveal details of human history and prehistory, and of evolutionary history, that were previously impossible to know. That includes what animals ate, the microbes they had in their guts and even how human brain cells changed over evolutionary time. “There are soft tissues preserved over half a billion years of Earth history,” says Alexandra Morton-Hayward at the University of Oxford. Such tissues could now be mined for proteins. “The amount… Source link #unlock #secrets #ancient #human #brains Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] -

There Was a Scenario Where We’d Have “Backed Off” from Making Red Dead Redemption 2 There Was a Scenario Where We’d Have “Backed Off” from Making Red Dead Redemption 2 It’s been almost seven years since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, and it’s still hailed as one of the greatest video games of all time. It serves as a prequel to the story with Arthur Morgan as the focus, taking players back to the tail end of the Wild West Era. Red Dead Redemption 2 has amassed millions of fans worldwide thanks to its incredible gameplay, stunning visuals, attention to detail, and compelling story. However, what many might not know is that Rockstar Games almost backed out of making this masterpiece at some point. Rockstar Games nearly abandoned Red Dead Redemption 2 Back in 2018, GQ had the opportunity to sit down with Rockstar Games’ co-founder Dan Houser and chat about the development of Red Dead Redemption 2. He highlighted the various challenges faced by Rockstar during the development phase and how it overcame those odds to produce a fantastic game. During the interview, Houser revealed that when Rockstar started working on Red Dead Redemption 2, it aimed to create an authentic Western experience. However, if the studio had known how much work would be required to realize this dream, Rockstar would have walked away from the project. If we’d known how much work it was going to be then maybe we’d have backed off. However, once Rockstar committed to the project, it was determined to make things work and enjoy the work. It ensured that every aspect of Red Dead Redemption 2 was equally polished. It took the development team years and thousands of hours, but they crafted a game that lived up to their expectations. Red Dead Redemption 2 is still a visually stunning game. (Image via Rockstar Games) One might say that Rockstar Games could’ve given Red Dead Online a bit more love. However, Rockstar has likely learned from its failures and plans to bring something in future entries that can keep up with GTA Online. Red Dead Redemption 2 might be coming to Switch 2 Switch 2 will benefit with the release of the RDR2. (Image via Nintendo) We’re just days away from the release of Nintendo Switch 2, and while it’s been plagued with controversies, fans can’t wait to get their hands on the console. It has a strong lineup of games so far, with big names such as Cyberpunk 2077 and The Duskbloods. However, it seems like even Red Dead Redemption 2 might join its roster. According to Gamereactor, Red Dead Redemption 2 could arrive on Switch 2 later in 2025. Even Nintendúo has revealed the same information, which adds to these claims. There’s no specific release date so far for when the port could drop on Switch 2. However, whenever it is released, it’s going to be a big win for the system. It’s also been revealed that Red Dead Redemption 2 is all set to receive a next-gen upgrade patch that will allow it to capitalize on the hardware of PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles. This update could drop at the same time as the Switch 2 port. With that said, do you think Rockstar should bring more updates for Red Dead Redemption 2? Let us know in the comments below. Video shows Swiss village being flattened by glacier collapse – National Video shows Swiss village being flattened by glacier collapse – National The small Swiss village of Blatten has been partially destroyed by fragments of a collapsed glacier. Footage of the natural disaster shows the tiny mountain town, home to only 300 people, becoming engulfed in debris after a 1.5 million cubic metre glacier collapsed and hurtled into the Loetschental valley. Aside from its picturesque, snowcapped surroundings, Blatten is known for being along the route to the Tour de Suisse, a multi-stage bike race often used by participants as a warm-up to the Tour de France. Story continues below advertisement On Wednesday, Matthias Bellwald, Blatten’s mayor, said “the unimaginable” had happened before promising that the village would make it through. Get breaking National news For news impacting Canada and around the world, sign up for breaking news alerts delivered directly to you when they happen. Meanwhile, Stephane Ganzer, the head of security in the southern Valais region, said on the local TV channel Canal9, “What I can tell you at the moment is that about 90 per cent of the village is covered or destroyed, so it’s a major catastrophe that has happened here in Blatten,” adding that it wasn’t immediately clear whether anyone was injured, and that the army had been mobilized after earlier indications that the movement of the glacier was accelerating. “There’s a risk that the situation could get worse,” he told Canal9. More on World More videos Despite the scale of the disaster, no deaths have been reported. The village was evacuated on May 19 as experts had anticipated the collapse. According to Reuters, an assessment of the rock movement on the mountainside led authorities to believe that an unprecedented volume was poised to tumble down the mountainside. The loosening rock sat above the glacier and authorities warned that it could pull down the ice mass with it. Trending Now King Charles III delivers the throne speech. Here are 5 key highlights Canada Post says it has made ‘final offer’ to union Local authorities have called in the Swiss army’s disaster relief unit, as well as search and rescue helicopters charged with assessing the scale of the damage. Members of the government are also on their way to the scene, according to the BBC. Story continues below advertisement Following the disaster, Bellwald, appearing to hold back tears, said, “We have lost our village, but not our heart. We will support each other and console each other. After a long night, it will be morning again.” The Swiss government has already promised funding to ensure residents can return to their homes, or at the very least, remain in the area. Drone footage showed a large section of the Birch glacier collapsing at about 3:30 p.m. local time, causing a bellowing roar as masses of debris and ice tumbled across the valley. For years, glaciologists who monitor the thaw have warned that some alpine towns could be at risk from the collapse seen in Blatten, the BBC said. Two years ago, people living in the village of Brienz in eastern Switzerland were evacuated because the mountainside above the town was at risk of imminent collapse. Its residents have not been allowed to return full time. — With files from Reuters and The Associated Press © 2025 Global News, a division of Corus Entertainment Inc. Reconciliation Week: Significant strides made in the South West but ‘long way to go’ still Reconciliation Week: Significant strides made in the South West but ‘long way to go’ still A Noongar woman with more than 25 years experience in the First Nations health sector says there’s still “a long way to go” in the South West on the path towards reconciliation, despite significant improvements over the years. Auntie Elsie Penny, OAM, has worked at the South West Aboriginal Medical Service since 1997, and is the cultural practice lead at Kwaba Bidi. In 2021, Ms Penny was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for her commitment to Indigenous health. Despite the strides made in recent years, this Reconciliation Week Ms Penny said there was more to be done. “We are getting there, we’ve still got a long way to go,” she said. “On a personal level, having worked in Aboriginal health for over 30 years in Bunbury, I can see there’s been some good achievements. “The opening of the South West Aboriginal Medical Service and other Aboriginal-controlled organisations which are doing their part towards reconciliation and closing the gap by delivering services that are important for our people and making a difference.” Ms Penny said there were more Indigenous Australians working at SWAMS than ever before, making up roughly 50 per cent of their staff. However, she said there was ultimately a “funding issue” for Aboriginal health services not receiving equivalent levels of support as mainstream providers. She also said connections with hospitals should be strengthened to ensure clients “aren’t falling through the cracks”, while also improving youth mental health services and early intervention and healing programs. National Reconciliation Week — from May 27 to June 3 — is an important time for Australians to learn about First Nations’ history, culture and achievements,” Ms Penny said. Camera IconSouth West Aboriginal Medical Service flying the Aboriginal flag during the Reconciliation Walk in 2021. Credit: Carly Laden/South Western Times “It’s about acknowledging the past and walking together in the future,” she said. The theme of this year’s event is Bridging Now to Next. “It’s a call to all Australians to reflect, listen and act, so that we can build a future based on respect, truth telling and genuine connection between First Nations and non-Indigenous people,” Ms Penny said. “(It’s about) recognising the truths of our past and being honest about where we are now, and committing to where we want to be as a nation.” Earlier in the week, the State Government announced survivors of the Stolen Generations in WA would be compensated through a redress scheme which offered payments of up to $85,000 each. Ms Penny said it was “something”, but would never make up for “the hurt and loss” endured by affected families which “can never be undone”. “It’ll never make up for all the loss they’ve had — the families, the kinship connections, their culture, their country. They can never, ever go back to that.” The City of Bunbury announced on Tuesday the annual Bunbury Walk for Reconciliation had been postponed until October or November due to poor weather forecasts. Salesforce (CRM) Q1 earnings report 2026 Salesforce (CRM) Q1 earnings report 2026 Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff participates in an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Jan. 22, 2025. Chris Ratcliffe | Bloomberg | Getty Images Salesforce shares were volatile in extended trading on Wednesday after the sales and customer service software maker reported upbeat fiscal first-quarter results and guidance. Here’s how the company performed relative to LSEG consensus: Earnings per share: $2.58 adjusted vs. 2.54 expected Revenue: $9.83 billion vs. $9.75 billion expected Salesforce’s revenue grew 8% year over year in the quarter, which ended on April 30, according to a statement. Net income of $1.54 billion, or $1.59 per share, was basically flat compared with $1.53 billion, or $1.56 per share, a year ago. President Donald Trump announced sweeping tariffs on goods imported into the U.S. in early April. Co-founder and CEO Marc Benioff sounded positive about the company’s results for the quarter anyway, pointing to its plan, announced on Tuesday, to buy data management company Informatica for $8 billion. It would be Salesforce’s priciest acquisition since the $27.1 billion Slack deal in 2021. Slack marked the top end of the buyouts Salesforce had made under Benioff. Activist investors raised concerns about all the spending, in addition to slowing revenue growth. Salesforce sprung into action, slashing 10% of its headcount. Benioff proclaimed that the board’s mergers and acquisitions committee had been disbanded. The company’s finance chief at the time said it would reach a margin expansion goal two years early. And Salesforce started paying dividends to shareholders. Initial reception to the Informatica announcement was generally favorable. “Salesforce is paying a reasonable multiple for the asset, in our view, and the deal should be more easily digested by investors than some of the company’s large deals in the past (i.e. Slack),” Stifel analysts led by J. Parker Lane wrote in a note to clients. The investment bank has a buy rating on Salesforce shares. During the fiscal first quarter, Salesforce introduced the AgentExchange marketplace for artificial intelligence agents. Management sees $2.76 to $2.78 in adjusted earnings per share on $10.11 billion to $10.16 billion in revenue for the fiscal second quarter. Analysts polled by LSEG had expected $2.73 in adjusted earnings per share on $10.01 billion in revenue. Salesforce bumped up its full-year forecast. It called for $11.27 to $11.33 in adjusted earnings per share and $41.0 billion to $41.3 billion in revenue. The LSEG consensus included net income of $11.16 per share and $40.82 billion in revenue. The guidance in February was $11.09 to $11.17 in adjusted earnings per share, with $40.5 billion to $40.9 billion in revenue. As of Wednesday’s close, the stock had slipped about 18% so far in 2025, while the S&P index was unchanged. Executives will discuss the results with analysts on a conference call starting at 5 p.m. ET. This is breaking news. Please check back for updates. Trump’s ‘Golden Dome’ offer has Canada, others unsure of $61B price tag – National Trump’s ‘Golden Dome’ offer has Canada, others unsure of $61B price tag – National Canada does not know what it would cost to join U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed “Golden Dome” missile defence program, Defence Minister David McGuinty said Wednesday. “I’m not in a position to evaluate the numbers. We’re going to bring a budget out in the fall, and when we bring a budget out we’ll have a lot more to say about what we’re going to do,” McGuinty said on his way into the weekly Liberal caucus meeting. On Tuesday, in a social media post, Trump said it would cost Canada $61 billion to join as a sovereign country but nothing at all if it became a U.S. state. Trump claimed that Canada is “considering the offer.” When asked about Trump’s comments, Prime Minister Mark Carney said he won’t negotiate in public. 100 businesses write to NSW Premier Chris Minns over Great Koala National Park 100 businesses write to NSW Premier Chris Minns over Great Koala National Park More than 100 businesses on the NSW Mid-North Coast have signed a letter to Premier Chris Minns, urging the Labor government to move forward with long-running plans for a massive koala sanctuary and tourism park. The Great Koala National Park was an election promise for NSW Labor, but delivery of the animal sanctuary and what form it will ultimately take has been marred by setbacks, including continued logging at the proposed site. In the letter, a coalition of businesses including from the adventure tourism and hospitality sectors, have called on the Premier to deliver the full 176,00ha park proposed, which they say will become a “game-changing tourist destination. Camera IconCoffs Skydiver owner Steve Hill presenting the letter to NSW Premier Chris Minns. Supplied Credit: Newswire Coffs Skydiver owner Steve Hill said his business relied on the sort of tourists the park would attract, saying “people that are interested in little fluffy koalas are interested in being in the outdoors, adventures”. “We’ve had natural disaster after natural disaster so economically, it’s been really tough on the Mid North Coast. This region needs this kind of level of tourism,” Mr Hill said. “If you bring in a park that goes global – something like the Great Barrier Reef – we all know it will give us the boost that we badly need.” Matt Sparrius, owner of kayak and stand-up paddle board company C-Change, also backed the park as being “great for our business”. “For us, it’s a no-brainer,” he said. “The more koalas there are in the park, the more chances there are of seeing of them. “For tourism, we will have more tourists, there will be more jobs, we can expand our business there will be other businesses that can move into that space. It will be wonderful.” Camera IconA map of the proposed Great Koala National Park. Supplied Credit: News Regional Media “Getting the full Great Koala National Park is really critical for us. If we don’t get the full park, we won’t get those corridors between areas. “Apart from the koalas, having sugar gliders will also get people out in the park, into the environment.” The NSW government committed $80m over four years in the 2023-24 state budget to support development of the park, including independent economic, social and environmental assessments, and industry and community panels. But key questions remain. Chief among them is the final size of the park, which proponents want to span a whopping 176,000ha. The final size is yet to be determined by the state government, with reports of logging still taking place at the proposed site. If delivered as proposed, the park would span from Coffs Harbour to Woolgoolga. *********** Climate and Biodiversity Foundation and Mid-North Coast resident, Ken Henry, said delivery of the full park would be a boon for businesses and a “truly special destination that will put the region on the global tourism map”. “The declaration can’t come soon enough,” the former federal bureaucrat said. “Every moment we hesitate means losing more koalas and missing crucial opportunities for regional tourism operators to create jobs.” WWF Australia president Judy Slatyer said the “bold and beautiful” park, if fully realised, would conserve and regenerate forests where not only 12,000 endangered koalas live, but also some 36,000 endangered greater gliders. “Affected timber workers and regional communities need to be well supported to secure jobs, build their communities and create a future as the park is created,” she said. Footage released earlier this year by the WWF showed logging heavily machinery continue to be operated within Sheas Nob State Forest, island from Coffs Harbour. A previous analysis by the North East Forest Alliance claimed logging has already occurred across 7185ha within the assessment area since the state election, with another report by Wilderness Australia and the National Parks Association of NSW stating in March that a further 1924ha within the proposed park was then being logged. CD Projekt Red’s Major Update on Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel CD Projekt Red’s Major Update on Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is well-known for its disappointing launch, but with updates and fixes, the studio has managed to completely transform the game into one of the best open-world video games of all time. The release of the Phantom Liberty DLC in 2023 further boosted the game’s popularity, but now it’s time for the studio to move on to the next chapter. CD Projekt Red first announced Project Orion (the next Cyberpunk game) in 2022 via a post on X. By February 2024, it was confirmed that Project Orion was in early development. CD Projekt has now announced that Project Orion has moved past the conceptual phase and entered the pre-production phase. Not much is known about the game, but the creator of Cyberpunk gave fans a hint earlier this month. The sequel of Cyberpunk 2077 has entered the pre-production phase In its latest financial results, CD Projekt Red confirmed that “Cyberpunk 2,” also known as Project Orion, has progressed to pre-production. The statement said, Several weeks ago the CD PROJEKT RED team responsible for the next big game set in the Cyberpunk universe completed the project’s conceptual phase. As a result, Cyberpunk 2 – previously known under the codename Project Orion – has progressed to preproduction. This is a major announcement, as it appears that CD Projekt is eager to deliver the next chapter of the Cyberpunk series to players as soon as possible. The statement also revealed that the total sales of Phantom Liberty, Cyberpunk 2077‘s DLC, have surpassed 10 million copies. In the past, CD Projekt co-CEO Michał Nowakowski has explained that the journey from “pre-production to final release takes four to five years on average.” This means that the sequel could be released in 2030 or 2031. The studio is also working on the next chapter of the Witcher franchise, so as of now, it is hard to tell at what pace the developers are moving and which franchise they will prioritise. What do we know about Cyberpunk 2‘s setting? Cyberpunk 2 could feature a city based on Chicago (Image via CD Projekt Red) CD Projekt Red hasn’t revealed anything about the setting of the next Cyberpunk game. However, the creator of the Cyberpunk tabletop game series, Mike Pondsmith, revealed some interesting information about the game. Pondsmith was closely involved in the development process of the first game. At the Digital Dragons 2025 conference, Pondsmith admitted that he wasn’t as involved in Project Orion as he was in the first game, but he does know a few things. I spent a lot of time talking to one of the environment guys, and he was explaining how the new place in Orion, because there’s another city we visit – I’m not telling you any more than that but there’s another city we visit. And Night City is still there. But I remember looking at it and going, yeah I understand the feel you’re going for this, and this really does work. And it doesn’t feel like Blade Runner, it feels more like Chicago gone wrong. I said, ‘Yeah, I can see this working.’ The open world of Cyberpunk 2 could be a dystopian version of Chicago in the future, but nothing is confirmed as of now. As for Cyberpunk 2077, the game is all set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 next month. Judge refuses to temporarily block the Trump administration from removing Copyright Office director Judge refuses to temporarily block the Trump administration from removing Copyright Office director WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge refused Wednesday to temporarily block the Trump administration from removing and replacing the director of the U.S. Copyright Office. U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly ruled from the bench that the office director, Shira Perlmutter, hasn’t met her legal burden to show how removing her from the position would cause her to suffer irreparable harm. Kelly’s refusal to issue a temporary restraining order isn’t the final word in the lawsuit that Perlmutter filed last week. If Perlmutter decides to seek a preliminary injunction, the judge is giving her attorneys and government lawyers until Thursday afternoon to present him with a proposed schedule for arguing and deciding the matter. Perlmutter’s attorneys say she is a renowned copyright expert who also has served as Register of Copyrights since the Librarian of Congress appointed her to the job in October 2020. “As Register, Ms. Perlmutter is a critical advisor to Congress on matters of important legislative interest and administers the Nation’s copyright system,” her lawyers wrote. Earlier this month, Trump appointed Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche to replace Carla Hayden as Librarian of Congress. The White House fired Hayden on May 8 amid criticism from conservatives that she was advancing a “woke” agenda. “The Library of Congress is not an autonomous organization free from political supervision,” government lawyers wrote. The administration said Blanche replaced Perlmutter with Paul Perkins, an associate deputy attorney general and veteran Justice Department attorney. Perlmutter’s lawyers argued that the president doesn’t have the authority to unilaterally remove the Register of Copyrights or appoint an acting Librarian of Congress. “Defendants’ actions are blatantly unlawful, and they threaten severe and irreparable harm to Ms. Perlmutter and her ability to fulfill the duties entrusted to her under the law,” they wrote. Government lawyers argued that blocking Perlmutter’s removal would amount to a “severe intrusion” into the president’s authority to exercise executive power. Kelly said it is “striking” that nobody from Congress is involved in the lawsuit. He said the absence of Congress from the case “has to impact my assessment” of Perlmutter’s request for a temporary restraining order. But the judge also emphasized that the case has been pending for fewer than three business days and has produced “a very limited record” for him to consider so far. ___ Source link #Judge #refuses #temporarily #block #Trump #administration #removing #Copyright #Office #director Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

European Gymnastics Championships: GB’s Jake Jarman and Ruby Evans win silver in first mixed team final European Gymnastics Championships: GB’s Jake Jarman and Ruby Evans win silver in first mixed team final Great Britain’s Jake Jarman and Ruby Evans combined to win silver in the first mixed team event at the European Gymnastics Championships in Leipzig. The 23-year-old Jarman, who won gold on Tuesday night as part of the men’s team, delivered on the high bar, while teenager Evans shone on the beam. Jarman said: “That was great. Tactically we knew going with our strongest apparatus second gave us a good chance for a medal and the plan worked out perfectly. “It was the perfect scenario this time round so we made the right choice and we’re both super happy to have won the silver medal. “It was great to have men’s and women gymnastics combine. I think the competition worked really well and it’s exciting for the future.” Source link #European #Gymnastics #Championships #GBs #Jake #Jarman #Ruby #Evans #win #silver #mixed #team #final Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

TSMC reiterates it doesn’t need High-NA EUV for 1.4nm-class process technology TSMC reiterates it doesn’t need High-NA EUV for 1.4nm-class process technology TSMC reiterated its long-known stance on next-generation High-NA EUV lithography tools at its European Technology Symposium in Amsterdam. The company does not require these highest-end lithography systems for its next-generation process technologies, including A16 (1.6nm-class) and A14 (1.4nm-class) process technologies. To that end, TSMC will not adopt High-NA EUV tools for these nodes. “ People seems to always interested when TSMC going to use High-NA, I think our answer is very simple,” said Kevin Zhang, Deputy Co-COO and Senior Vice President of Business Development and Global Sales, at the event. “Whenever we see High-NA will provide meaningful, measurable benefit, we will do it. With A14, the enhancement I talked about earlier is very substantial without using High-NA. So, our technology team continues to find a way to extend the life of current EUV while harvesting the scaling benefit.” TSMC’s A14 process relies on the company’s second-generation nanosheet gate-all-around transistors, along with a new standard cell architecture. According to TSMC, A14 provides up to 15% higher performance at the same power and complexity, or alternatively, 25% to 30% lower power consumption at the same frequency. In terms of transistor density, A14 achieves a 20% increase compared to N2 for mixed logic/SRAM/analog configurations and up to 23% when it comes to pure logic. You may like Such performance, power, and transistor density increases represent the so-called ‘full node advantage’, and yet, TSMC does not need next-generation High-NA EUV lithography tools to produce chips with predictable yields and desired performance and power characteristics on its A16 and A14 process technologies. One should keep in mind that TSMC’s A16 is essentially N2P with a Super Power Rail (SPR) backside power delivery network. As TSMC does not need High-NA EUV tools for N2 and N2P, it will not need them for A16 either. By contrast, A14 is an all-new node that will be used for mass production in 2028, so the fact that TSMC does not need High-NA for this one is quite remarkable. When asked whether A14 heavily relies on multi-patterning, Zhang responded that he could not comment on specifics, but said that TSMC’s technology team had found a way to produce chips on a 1.4nm node without using High-NA EUV tools that provide an 8nm resolution compared to a 13.5nm resolution of Low-NA EUV systems. “This is a great innovation from our technology team,” said Zhang. “As long as they continue to find a way, obviously, we do not have to use High-NA EUV. Eventually, we will use it at some point. It is just so we need to find a right interception point, provide the maximum benefit, maximum return on investment.” It is noteworthy that TSMC’s A14 will be succeeded by A14 with SPR backside power delivery in 2029, and it does not appear that the foundry will require High-NA EUV tools for this iteration either. To that end, it looks like, unlike Intel, which is set to start using next-generation EUV lithography machines with its 14A manufacturing technology to reduce the number of EUV exposures (read: multipatterning) and process steps in 2027 – 2028, TSMC has no plans to use High-NA EUV for mass production until at least 2030, or perhaps even later. Erin Patterson trial: Crown’s final witness Detective leading Senior Constable Stephen Eppingstall to continue evidence Erin Patterson trial: Crown’s final witness Detective leading Senior Constable Stephen Eppingstall to continue evidence The ********* squad detective who charged Erin Patterson with ******* following the death of three of her in-laws is set to face questioning from her lawyers. Detective leading Senior Constable Stephen Eppingstall will return to the witness box on Thursday for his third day of giving evidence at the triple-******* trial. Earlier this week, the jury was told Constable Eppingstall would be the last witness called by the Crown in the case. Prosecutors allege Ms Patterson intentionally poisoned a beef wellington lunch with death cap mushrooms on July 29, 2023. Her lawyers, on the other hand, have asked the jury to find the deaths were a tragic accident and acquit Ms Patterson. Camera IconDetective Senior Constable Stephen Eppingstall is the final witness for the Crown. NewsWire/ David Crosling Credit: News Corp Australia Her husband Simon Patterson’s parents, Don and Gail Patterson, and aunt, Heather Wilkinson, died in the week after the lunch from organ failure attributed to mushroom poisoning. Heather’s husband, Ian Wilkinson, fell gravely ill but recovered after a long stint in hospital. After prosecutor Jane Warren told the court she had no further questions for Constable Eppingstall on Wednesday afternoon, Ms Patterson’s barrister Colin Mandy SC began to probe the detective before the hearing was adjourned for the day. His first question asked the officer if his client had no criminal history, with Constable Eppingstall responding: “Yes”. Mr Mandy then turned to whether Ms Patterson was helpful in the initial stages of the investigation, advising police where to find leftovers of the lunch, giving her gate access code and permission to break into her home if needed. Again the detective said “yes”. Camera IconMs Patterson’s defence has argued the poisonings were a tragic accident. Brooke Grebert-Craig. Credit: Supplied Over the last 45 minutes of the day, Mr Mandy took Constable Eppingstall through a series of medical notes, phone messages and hospital records about Ms Patterson’s health. Records shown to the jury in late 2021 and early 2022 indicate Ms Patterson was seeking medical advice for a host of health complaints including fatigue, weight gain and overactive bladder, pins and needles and clumsiness. “Erin worries about ovary *******, has been googling her symptoms, thinks her symptoms may suggestive of ovary *******,” a doctor’s note from October 2021 reads, indicating follow up tests had been scheduled. Another medical record outlining Ms Patterson’s self-reported family history, states that her paternal aunt and maternal aunt had ovarian *******. Messages on encrypted messaging platform Signal between Ms Patterson and Simon Patterson on January 4 and 5, 2022, record her complaining about her health while on a holiday to Tasmania. “It’s my heart that’s troubling me,” Ms Patterson wrote. “I’m struggling with the energy to do basic things like get in and out of the car and after I have a shower I need to lie down and rest.” Ms Patterson later messages she’s “been doing some research” and her symptoms fit with right-sided heart failure. NewsWire/Nadir Kinani Credit: News Corp Australia Mr Mandy asks Constable Eppingstall if the records were “consistent with Erin Patterson being concerned about various health issues?” “Yes, sir,” the detective replies. Prosecutors alleged Ms Patterson orchestrated the lunch with the “false claim” of a ******* diagnosis, while her defence contents she only told the lunch guests she had a “suspected” diagnosis. BMW Just Unveiled the Most Powerful Rear-Wheel Drive M Car Yet BMW Just Unveiled the Most Powerful Rear-Wheel Drive M Car Yet BMW’s smallest sports car just got a serious power boost. The ******* marque has just unveiled the new 2026 M2 Competition Series (CS). The high-performance variant lacks a manual transmission option that is one of the base model’s most attractive features, but it makes up for it by being the most powerful rear-wheel drive M car you can buy. More from Robb Report Since its introduction in 2016, the M2 has carved out a niche for itself as the enthusiast’s M car of choice. Look at the second-generation CS features and specs, and it’s easy to see why. It may be compact—it measures just over nine feet bumper-to-bumper—but it’s also a beast. The latest range-topping model comes with an upgraded version of the car’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that produces 523 horsepower and 479 ft lbs of torque. That’s 50 hp more than the standard M2 and 79 hp more than the last-generation M2 CS. Not bad as far as performance bumps go. Thanks to the added horsepower, the new M2 CS can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, which is 0.4 seconds quicker than the standard M2. Top speed comes in at 188 mph, which his 11 mph faster than the base model equipped with the M Driver’s package. Unfortunately, those dreaming of shifting through the M2 CS’s gears themselves will be left disappointed. Unlike the standard M2, the variant is exclusively available with an eight-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear axles. This decision is sure to disappoint those who love the M2’s six-speed manual—an option reportedly chosen by 50 percent of customers—but it has allowed BMW to deliver more power and better performance than before, which seems like a fair trade to us. Automatic gearboxes weigh more than their manual counterparts, but BMW has utilized carbon-fiber parts and forged wheels to keep the variant’s weight down to 3,770 pounds, which is 44 pounds less than the standard automatic M2. It’s not light per se, but it does weigh less than any of the other M car currently on the market. The suspension has been tuned to account for the additional power and lower curb weight. The M2 CS doesn’t look all that different M2 inside and out. Its muscular shape is more sculpted, especially in the rear, where you’ll find a ducktail spoiler coming off the trunk lid. Despite looking similar, the two models will feel different, though. That’s because more carbon fiber body panels—including the roof, mirror caps, and rear diffuser—were utilized to keep weight down. The M2 CS will cost $99,775 (after destination) when it goes on ***** later this year. BMW has yet to announce how much the standard 2026 M2 will cost, but the difference between the two models is likely to be around $30,000. That’s steep, of course, but it’s also significantly less than the $124,675 it costs to get into an M4 CS. Click here for more photos of the 2026 BMW M2 CS. HP (HPQ) Q2 earnings 2025 HP (HPQ) Q2 earnings 2025 Sopa Images | Lightrocket | Getty Images HP reported second-quarter results that beat analysts’ estimates for revenue but missed on earnings and guidance, in part due to President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs. Shares sank 15% after the report. Here’s how the company did versus analysts’ estimates compiled by LSEG: Earnings per share: 71 cents, adjusted vs. 80 cents expected. Revenue: $13.22 billion vs. $13.14 billion expected. Revenue for the quarter increased 3.3% from $12.8 billion in the same ******* last year. HP reported net income of $406 million, or 42 cents per share, down from $607 million, or 61 cents per share, a year ago. For its third quarter, HP said it expects to report adjusted earnings of 68 cents to 80 cents per share, missing the average analyst estimate of 90 cents, according to LSEG. Full-year adjusted earnings will be within the range of $3 to $3.30 per share, while analysts were expecting $3.49 per share. HP said its outlook “reflects the added cost driven by the current U.S. tariffs,” as well as the associated mitigations. “While results in the quarter were impacted by a dynamic regulatory environment, we responded quickly to accelerate the expansion of our manufacturing footprint and further reduce our cost structure,” HP CEO Enrique Lores said in a statement. Lores told CNBC’s Steve Kovach that HP has increased production in Vietnam, Thailand, India, Mexico and the U.S. By the end of June, Lores said the company expects nearly all of its products sold in North America will be built outside of China. “Through our actions, we expect to fully mitigate the increased trade-related costs by Q4,” Lores said in the interview. HP will hold its quarterly call with investors at 5 p.m. ET. Source link #HPQ #earnings Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

Massive shark spotted in water off New England Massive shark spotted in water off New England Yahoo is using AI to generate takeaways from this article. This means the info may not always match what’s in the article. Reporting mistakes helps us improve the experience.Generate Key Takeaways In a sure sign that summer is near, a massive shark was spotted in the water off New England on Monday. The Atlantic Shark Institute shared a video of a basking shark wowing boaters in Great Salt Pond off Rhode Island’s Block Island. Jen Seebeck was enjoying dinner at Dead Eye *****’s when she noticed the shark’s fin slicing through the water, according to the Institute. The sighting comes just days ahead of the 50th anniversary of “Jaws,” which hit theaters on June 20, 1975. “Clearly, a very large shark, and reminiscent of a scene from Jaws on this 50th anniversary of the film,” the Institute wrote in a social media post. In the video, someone with a recognizable New England accent calls out, “There’s a shark in the pond!” The onlooker’s comment references a classic scene from the hit movie. The basking shark is the second-largest fish in the world behind the whale shark, reaching lengths of 40 feet, according to Oceana. They are filter feeders that eat tiny, planktonic prey. The Institute noted that “more and more species” of shark have been migrating to New England as water temperatures continue to rise. “Hopefully, this shark will find its way out of Great Salt Pond soon and continue on its way!” the Institute wrote in the post. Swiatek fuelled by ‘positive energy’ to oust Raducanu Swiatek fuelled by ‘positive energy’ to oust Raducanu “This place inspires me,” said Iga Swiatek – and that pronouncement alone in her Roland Garros stronghold should have been enough to terrify the resurgent French Open champion’s challengers. The ‘Queen of Clay’ hasn’t won a single tournament – indeed, she hasn’t even reached any final – since she won her fourth title here last year. She’s sounded and looked riddled with doubt. Yet on Wednesday, back at 2 Avenue Gordon Bennett, she was somehow infused with what she felt was “positive energy”. What a performance she delivered to hammer another grand slam winner, Emma Raducanu, who’s been in resurgent mood herself of late, but who just couldn’t live with the peerless Pole in a 6-1 6-2 rout. “It was so one-way and so one-sided,” Raducanu sighed, doubtless recalling how she only took one game off Swiatek in their *********** Open joust in January. “I guess when Iga is playing well on a court that she’s very familiar with, the difference is huge.” It was and it always is against the luckless Briton. Swiatek shrugged that it was just a match-up that works well for her as she improved their head-to-head to 5-0 without a set dropped. It’s now 23 match wins in a row for Swiatek at her favourite slam, but she’s not about to pretend everything is fixed after such a rocky year by her imperious standards. Two wins did not a grand slam triumph make, she gently chided her interrogators. “You always need to be on your toes and ready for what life brings you. And sometimes, it’s going to be good, and one day it’s not going to be so easy.” Aryna Sabalenka is making it look easy, though. Swiss leftie Jil Teichmann was excellent early on, leading 3-1, but ended up getting pounded into the red dirt 6-3 6-1 for her impertinence. There’s be a terrific third round clash in prospect between China’s Zheng Qinwen, who won the Paris 2024 Olympic title on these courts, and Canada’s exciting 18-year-old qualifier Victoria Mboko after they both made comfortable progress. Eighth seed Zheng is looking hugely impressive, her power overwhelming Colombia’s Emiliana Arango 6-2 6-3, while Mboko’s maiden slam adventure will continue into a sixth match after beating Germany’s Eva Lys 6-4 6-4 . Elina Svitolina was up late, cheering on husband Gael Monfils in his three-and-a-half hour, five-set comeback triumph over Hugo Dellien in Tuesday’s night match, but the 13th seed showed no ill-effects as she beat Anna Bondar 7-6 (7-4) 7-5. “I’m very happy with his performance, the way that he fought yesterday,” she said, adding with a smile: “Of course, I cannot allow myself to be frustrated for him to make his match long! “I just fully support him. Doesn’t matter what time he plays.” Source link #Swiatek #fuelled #positive #energy #oust #Raducanu Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

EA has cancelled its ****** Panther game and closed its studio Cliffhanger Games EA has cancelled its ****** Panther game and closed its studio Cliffhanger Games Electronic Arts has cancelled its ****** Panther game and closed down the studio that was working on it. According to a report from IGN, the publisher has shut down Cliffhanger Games, and is attempting to place affected staff in other roles across the company. The report says EA will also be laying off other staff on its mobile and central teams, in a round of layoffs separate to those last month which saw 300-400 staff laid off across EA, including 100 at Apex Legends studio Respawn Entertainment. The publication was forwarded an email sent to staff from EA Entertainment president Laura Miele, which says the cancellation of the ****** Panther game is part of EA’s effort to “sharpen our focus and put our creative energy behind the most significant growth opportunities”. Miele’s email also says EA Entertainment – which is a separate division to EA Sports – will focus mainly on Battlefield, The Sims, Skate and Apex Legends going forward, though development will also continue on Motive‘s Iron Man game and Respawn’s third Star Wars: Jedi game. Cliffhanger Games was formed in 2021 and was led by Kevin Stephens, who was boss of Warner’s Monolith during development of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War. In addition to leaders from those games, Cliffhanger’s team included veterans of franchises including Halo, God of War and Call of Duty, according to EA. The ****** Panther game was being developed in collaboration with Marvel Games. “We want our game to enable players to feel what it’s like to be worthy of the ****** Panther mantle in unique, story-driven ways, and we want Cliffhanger Games to empower everyone on our team as we collaborate to bring this amazing world to life,” Stephens said last year. “We’re still early in development with a long road ahead, but we know the foundation to any great story is to build an experienced team with diverse voices and perspectives and that’s what we want to build, especially with a superhero as important as ****** Panther.” Source link #cancelled #****** #Panther #game #closed #studio #Cliffhanger #Games Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
