(If you don’t mind subscriptions.) I totally get that. My personal reality is, that I despise subscriptions, first and foremost. That’s nothing against GP specifically. But also, that I wouldn’t even have the time nor motivation to play through GP’s content in order to get the feeling that it’s worth it. For roughly 3 months now, all I been playing is Ghost of Tsushima, I roam through every single corner, taking my time, with sessions of Helldivers 2 in between. And lately I bought the little new Game Dev Sim. Those three games are my go-to for 3 months now. Whenever I have time and motivation. GP definitely isn’t meant for me. And I am not meant for GP, even if I’d have nothing against subscriptions. And by the time DS2 will be released, I would then start with Kingdom Come 2 first. IF at all through Summer. 3. Telegram gets some AI integration but you may not love the source Telegram gets some AI integration but you may not love the source Telegram is adding xAI’s Grok chatbot to its app Grok will be embedded into chat features like the search bar and pinned chats The deal has xAI paying Telegram $300 million to become a part of the app Telegram messages will have a sarcastic extra presence now, thanks to a deal made by the messaging app to bring xAI’s Grok chatbot to its platform. xAI’s flagship chatbot is known for a snarkier – and occasionally unhinged – approach to user interactions. That attitude will now be available to all users, having previously been limited to some premium Telegram users. Telegram CEO Pavel Durov shared a video on X showing how users will be able to pin Grok to the top of chats, summon it from the search bar, and use it to do all sorts of activities; from writing messages and summarizing group chats to creating stickers, answering trivia, and even serving as a moderator in community groups. You may like Elon Musk’s AI company signed a deal with Telegram to embed Grok as a feature throughout the platform, paying $300 million for the privilege. Telegram is also getting 50% of the revenue from any Grok subscriptions purchased through the app, which could turn this into one of the most lucrative crossovers in chatbot history. This summer, Telegram users will gain access to the best AI technology on the market. @elonmusk and I have agreed to a 1-year partnership to bring xAI’s @grok to our billion+ users and integrate it across all Telegram apps This also strengthens Telegram’s financial… pic.twitter.com/ZPK550AyRVMay 28, 2025 Grok at work If this all sounds vaguely familiar, that’s because it sounds a lot like Meta’s strategy for Meta AI. The AI assistant has become part of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp in a similar fashion to Grok in Telegram. Grok serves as Telegram’s answer to Meta AI, encouraging people to stay on the platform rather than look elsewhere for help from an AI source. The $300 million being paid by xAI may sound over-the-top, but it makes sense when you consider what xAI gets out of it. Telegram is one of the most-used messaging apps on the planet. Getting even a fraction of the more than 900 million monthly active Telegram users to try Grok would be a massive boon for the chatbot. And that’s not even considering the value of the data Grok will get from Telegram users. It’s a massive pool of real-time interaction data, which could fuel Grok’s development in ways xAI is eager to pursue. Since the real power of AI data comes from how real people interact, $300 million might end up being a bargain. Grok can learn a lot from what hundreds of millions of people ask, how they phrase things, and what tone they use, depending on whether they’re happy, mad, flirty, or confused. xAI now has a front-row seat to that data firehose. Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. Naturally, the Grok integration will raise a few eyebrows when questions of privacy, data ownership, and how our data is used are brought up. Neither xAI nor Telegram has provided much detail about how Grok will handle user data or whether any of that data will be used to further train the model, which one must assume will be the case. Grok may become the helpful assistant it’s pitched as, or it could be another feature that people Google how to turn off, just like Meta AI. There’s also the question of moderation. Durov demonstrated how Grok might help clean up spammy group chats, but Grok’s tone would likely clash with a Telegram group discussing sensitive issues, and things could go very wrong if Grok misinterprets the context in a heated argument. Beauty in a deal worth up to $1bn (£740m). The 28-year-old, who is married to singer Justin Bieber, co-founded the line of skincare products, which includes blush and lip tints, in 2022, giving it her middle name. It has expanded rapidly thanks in part to its online popularity, reporting more than $200m in net sales over the 12 months to March, with plans of being offered in Sephora stores in the US and *** this year. In its announcement of the deal, buyer e.l.f. Beauty called the business “a beautiful brand that we believe is ready for rocketship growth”. e.l.f – short for eyes, lips and face – is paying $800m in cash and stock for the company, with a further $200m payout possible depending on future sales growth. The deal is expected to close later this year. Ms Bieber, who will stay with the company as chief creative officer, wrote on social media that the deal marked the “next chapter” for the brand. Other co-founders and current executives will continue to lead the business after the *****. “Our partnership with e.l.f. Beauty marks an incredible opportunity to elevate and accelerate our ability to reach more of our community with even more innovative products and widen our distribution globally,” she said in the business announcement. The brand has become particularly popular on social media, with viral TikToks about their pocket blush and “peptide lip treatments”. Ms Bieber’s decision to launch a beauty line follows in the footsteps of other celebrities, such as Rihanna, whose Fenty Beauty was worth nearly $3bn last year, according to Forbes estimates. It also follows Kylie Jenner, who sold a stake of her cosmetics company in 2020 to Coty for $600m, and Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty line, which earned her a place on the Bloomberg billionaire index last year. Overall in 2023, celebrity beauty brands generated more than $1bn in sales in 2023, according to a Nielsen IQ report. Ms Bieber is the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin and niece of actors Alec, William and Daniel Baldwin. She had her first child with her husband last year. The Museum of the Great Southern, the Brig Amity and the Albany Convict Gaol Museum are expecting about 3000 locals and tourists to head to the city to take advantage of a free day of family fun on Monday. Ian Westmore, the regional manager of the Museum of the Great Southern, said a full range of activities, all with a Western *********** ******, would be taking place in the precinct. 7. Hegseth issues changes to fix military moving issues Hegseth issues changes to fix military moving issues Top brass at the Department of Defense is weighing in on the way the military moves its members after an Action News Jax investigation. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has directed the U.S. Transportation Command to implement sweeping changes amid the busy moving season. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< Hegseth issued a list of changes, starting with slashing the number of moves the new program through HomeSafe Alliance receives, saying, “We know it’s not working and it’s only getting worse.” Action News Jax has been covering the military moving nightmares for months, talking to military families who wait weeks, even months, to receive their goods, movers who can’t afford to work at HomeSafe’s rates, and more. INVESTIGATES: After the military switches to a new company, moving issues continue “The stress does not end from start to finish,” one Navy sailor told us. Experiences like those with are the reason Hegseth said he is changing the plan. All moves will now be split between the new program with HomeSafe at the helm and the old system with multiple vendors, like Jacksonville-based Stefan Cordeiro of Stewart Moving and Storage Memorandum directing immediate modifications to the personal property program “Everybody has been spewing their concerns for at least the last two years now,” Cordiero, whose business took a major hit with the new program, said. Now, the DOD is taking action. Earlier this month, it relieved the program’s director of his duties. Hegseth also just ordered TRANSCOM to come up with new, more competitive rates for moving companies, increasing the amount military families are reimbursed if they move themselves, and developing a task force to review the entire moving process and see how it can be improved, as well as tracking weekly progress. [SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter] In response to the memo HomeSafe Alliance sent us this statement: “HomeSafe Alliance is grateful for Defense Secretary Hegseth’s attention to the Global Household Goods Contract and the directives he has issued, which will greatly improve moving experiences for military service members and their families. DoD raising our rates to account for significant inflation from the last four years would substantially benefit our ability to facilitate world-class moving services for our nation’s heroes. We look forward to working with the PCS Task Force to demonstrate how our program modernizes and digitizes the move process and resolves decades-long issues with military relocations.” [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks] Click here to download the free Action News Jax news and weather apps, click here to download the Action News Jax Now app for your smart TV and click here to stream Action News Jax live. COVID shot is safe during pregnancy, ********* doctors say after U.S. move – National COVID shot is safe during pregnancy, ********* doctors say after U.S. move – National Canada’s gynecologists say COVID-19 vaccination “remains safe and strongly recommended” during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada issued the assurance Wednesday, a day after U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — a longtime anti-vaccine activist — declared the shot is no longer recommended for healthy children and pregnant women south of the border. Pregnant women who become infected with COVID-19 are at higher risk of severe illness requiring hospitalization and intensive care than women who are not pregnant, the SOGC said. Getting the COVID-19 vaccine also helps protect against serious complications associated with the virus, such as preterm birth, it said. “We have mounting, increasing scientific evidence about the impact of COVID-19 infection or other respiratory viruses on pregnant people and how vaccination does reduce that,” Dr. Darine El-Chaar, a maternal fetal medicine specialist at The Ottawa Hospital said in an interview. 11. Nvidia expects $8 billion hit from US chip rules; forecast misses estimates Nvidia expects $8 billion hit from US chip rules; forecast misses estimates By Arsheeya Bajwa, Stephen Nellis (Reuters) -Nvidia beat sales expectations during its fiscal first quarter but forecast second-quarter revenue below market estimates on Wednesday, expecting an $8 billion hit to sales from tighter U.S. curbs on exports of its AI chips to key semiconductor market China. Shares of the world’s most valuable semiconductor firm still rose 4% in extended trading. The stock is relatively flat so far this year, compared with 2024 when the shares nearly tripled in value. Nvidia now faces trade restrictions on what it can sell, and the AI data center market is also maturing. Washington’s years-long efforts to thwart Beijing’s access to top-of-the-line U.S. technology have resulted in stricter restrictions on the export of Nvidia’s AI chips – stifling the company’s access to one of the largest markets for semiconductors. But Nvidia earlier this month signed a spate of new deals in the Middle East, including the first phases of a 10-square-mile data center site in the United Arab Emirates that could eventually use 5 gigawatts’ worth of AI infrastructure. The company has also announced similar deals in Saudi Arabia and Taiwan. “We have a line of sight to projects requiring tens of gigawatts of Nvidia AI infrastructure in the not-too-distant future,” Nvidia Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress told analysts on a conference call. But in the shorter term, Nvidia faces restrictions in China, where Kress said its data center revenue declined. New U.S. restrictions on the ***** of Nvidia’s H20 chips to China, the only AI processors it could legally export to the country, prompted Nvidia to disclose in April that it expected a $5.5 billion charge, while CEO Jensen Huang had in May pegged the revenue impact related to the restrictions at about $15 billion. On Wednesday, Nvidia said the actual first-quarter charge due to the H20 restrictions was $1 billion less than expected because it was able to reuse some materials. It said it lost $2.5 billion in H20 sales in the first quarter and expected to miss $8 billion in the second quarter. However, Nvidia also said the H20 brought in $4.6 billion in sales in the first quarter and that China accounted for 12.5% of overall revenue in the first quarter. Gil Luria, an analyst with D.A. Davidson, said the overall impact of the H20 restrictions was less than feared. “There was a removal of some China revenue from the July quarter guides, but there was also China revenue that was pulled into the first quarter. ******** buyers were stocking up on H20 ahead of the restrictions, which is what propped up the April quarter,” Luria said. Story Continues Though major cloud companies such as Microsoft and Alphabet have stood their ground on the billions they have earmarked this year for spending on expanding infrastructure for AI data centers, worries about such spending persist amid rapidly changing global trade policies. On an adjusted basis, Nvidia earned 81 cents per share in the first quarter. Analyst estimates varied widely as Wall Street tried to assess the impact of restrictions on some of Nvidia’s chip sales to China. Excluding the charges, first-quarter adjusted earnings per share would have been 96 cents. According to data compiled by LSEG, the estimate for the company’s adjusted quarterly earnings was 93 cents per share, with 17 analysts providing estimates after April 15 when Nvidia said H20 shipments would require additional licenses. The artificial intelligence market bellwether expects revenue of $45 billion, plus or minus 2%, in the second quarter, compared with analysts’ average estimate of $45.90 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG. The forecast includes a loss in H20 revenue of about $8 billion due to the recent export limitations. “The broader concern is that trade tensions and potential tariff impacts on data center expansion could create headwinds for AI chip demand in upcoming quarters,” said Emarketer analyst Jacob Bourne. “This doesn’t signal an end to Nvidia’s dominance, but highlights that sustaining it will require navigating an increasingly complex landscape of geopolitical, competitive, and economic challenges.” (Reporting by Arsheeya Bajwa in Bengaluru and Stephen Nellis in San FranciscoEditing by Shounak Dasgupta and Matthew Lewis) Source link #Nvidia #expects #billion #hit #chip #rules #forecast #misses #estimates Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]

  16. How much a $1,000 investment in Nvidia 10 years ago is worth today How much a $1,000 investment in Nvidia 10 years ago is worth today Nvidia, an industry leader in artificial intelligence chips used by companies like OpenAI and a bellwether for tech stocks, reported earnings after market close on Wednesday. The company reported revenue of $44.06 billion for the quarter ending April 27, 2025, exceeding expectations of $43.31 billion, according to LSEG consensus estimates. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $0.96, beating estimates of $0.93. Investors have been closely watching the company’s performance amid escalating trade tensions between the U.S. and China. In April, the U.S. tightened rules on chip exports to China, followed by an additional 10% tariff on most goods from China in May — a move China matched with its own 10% tariff on some U.S. goods. The move follows a broader trend of escalating trade measures aimed at limiting China’s access to advanced American technology. Nvidia’s stock initially dropped in April, but has since rebounded and is trading above where it was a year ago, as of market close on Wednesday. Despite the ongoing trade war, Nvidia’s stock has surged around 1,490% over the past five years, pushing its market capitalization above $3 trillion and making it one of the most valuable U.S. companies. As a leader in the AI space, Nvidia remains one of the market’s most actively traded stocks. “Global demand for Nvidia’s AI infrastructure is incredibly strong,” said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in a statement. (AP) — Another teenager was arrested Wednesday on ******* and other charges in connection with a deliberate hit-and-run that targeted a bicyclist, Albuquerque police said. Detectives learned that the boy was the fourth suspect in the stolen car when it hit and killed 63-year-old physicist Scott Dwight Habermehl while he was biking to his job at Sandia National Laboratories. The teen arrested Wednesday was 15 at the time of the May 2024 ******. The others included a boy who had just turned 11 and two other teens. Video of the ****** was recorded from inside the car and circulated on social media. It was reported to authorities earlier this year by people including a middle school principal after a student flagged it. Authorities said that during the course of the investigation several people told detectives they recognized the sound of the fourth suspect’s voice when the video was posted on social media. The teen had denied being the car during an earlier interview with police, but detectives learned that he had shared details about the ****** and the police investigation with friends through social media conversations. Cadence stock declined nearly 11%, while Synopsys was down about 10%. The Bureau of Industry and Security under the U.S. Commerce Department sent letters to both companies and to Siemens, the newspaper said. “We are aware of the reporting and speculation, but Synopsys has not received a notice from BIS,” Synopsys CEO Sassine Ghazi said on a conference call with analysts on Wednesday. He said the company expects a decline in full-year revenue from China. Cadence and Siemens representatives did not immediately respond to CNBC’s requests for comment. The report follows the Trump administration’s decision to get rid of the Biden-era chip “Diffusion Rule” that limited the export of artificial intelligence processors to China. Nvidia celebrated the change, but it’s not clear how forthcoming policy from the White House might affect Nvidia’s business. Nvidia reports results after the bell on Wednesday. Earlier this month, the Bureau of Industry and Security issued a warning about using Huawei Ascend AI chips, saying organizations that adopt them could be subject to enforcement action. A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce said the move undermined the two countries’ preliminary trade agreement and demanded that the White House “correct its mistakes.” Read the Financial Times’ full report here.
