  1. All Products in Farming Simulator 25 (And How Production Chains Work) All Products in Farming Simulator 25 (And How Production Chains Work) Sure, you could sell your harvest wholesale using a combine harvester, load up a trailer, and then drive the load across town to sell. You’ll make a few thousand dollars per harvest, and adequate money compounds over time. But if you’d rather keep your harvest at home to earn more money, take advantage of production chains. They’ll earn you top dollar but require more time and investment. For now, here’s a look at all of the products in Farming Simulator 25! Every Product You Can Craft in Farming Simulator 25 I completely understand the ******* to harvest your yield and immediately rid yourself of the trouble. You dump the whole lot in a truck and drive it off to make a quick buck. Then, you repeat the process. But if you plan ahead, you can make significantly more money in Farming Simulator 25 by investing in production chains that allow you to craft canned goods, cereal, olive oil, and furniture. I mean, you can even build a cat tree toy. What?! As its name implies, the production chain mechanic requires a chain of goods, materials, and machines to process raw items into tangible, physical goods that you may sell to corporations or businesses around the map. First, you’ll likely prioritize crops, as every map begins with a few fields. As such, I recommend prioritizing canned goods, as they’ll initially provide a more straightforward production chain. That said, you must invest copious amounts of money. Not only must you buy seeds, prep the fields, and perform the usual harvesting processes to gather your vegetables, but you also require a factory. With a factory, depending on its type, you can turn crops and animal products, like milk or eggs, into processed goods that earn more money. There are numerous factory types in the game, some specifically for crops and others for forestry, for example. You can buy a pre-built factory somewhere on the map or place one yourself using the game’s build mode. Either way, expect to pay an arm and a leg. What’s your first production chain in Farming Simulator 25 going to be? Let us know in the comments, or start a thread in the community forum to discuss strategy and crop rotations with other fans! A falling birth rate, the cost of living and fewer big hit film franchises have combined to push the value of sales down 3% on the previous year. But sales to so-called kidults have grown, with one in five toys and games now bought by over-18s for themselves, according to toy industry research group Circana. It suggests adults are buying Lego and collectibles for their “positive mental health benefits as they spark nostalgia and bring escapism from global turmoil”, said Melissa Symonds, executive director of *** toys at Circana. Cars and planes still on top The Toy Retailers’ Association has unveiled its annual list of 20 products its expects to sell well this Christmas. The DreamToys list is compiled by a panel of retailers and experts. Alongside some familiar names on the list, such as Hot Wheels cars and a Paw Patrol bulldozer, there are toys clearly aimed at a range of age groups. For youngsters, a ***** Blaster makes the kind of noise its name suggests, while a McLaren F1 car Lego set is probably targeting an older audience. The McLaren F1 car Lego set is expected to sell well to adults Transport ******** the most popular theme among toys, according to Circana, but animals now sit in second, with interactive pets becoming increasingly popular. These dolls now asked to be stroked and played with, and can repeat words. With family finances stretched, the price range of the 20 toys on the list has dropped to between £9.99 and £89.99. Key Christmas ******* The *** toy industry had sales of £3.4bn in the year to September, according to Circana. Christmas Day falls on a Wednesday, which is generally seen as a benefit to shops. However, the Toy Retailers Association said sellers faced cost pressures on the future owing to the employers National Insurance rise announced in the Budget. Sales of toys and games saw a big lift during Covid as more families spent time at home during lockdowns, but sales have fallen since 2021, and currently sit just below 2019 levels, according to Circana. 3. Judge rules Louisiana law ordering schools to display Ten Commandments violates First Amendment Judge rules Louisiana law ordering schools to display Ten Commandments violates First Amendment A federal judge has temporarily blocked a Louisiana law that would have required public schools statewide to display the Ten Commandments in their classrooms by Jan. 1. U.S. District Judge John W. deGravelles of Baton Rouge, who was appointed by former President Barack Obama, ruled Tuesday that the law violates the free exercise and establishment clauses of the First Amendment. The ruling found the Louisiana law was “unconstitutional on its face and in every application,” prohibited Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill and defendants in this case from enforcing the mandate, and required them to notify public schools of the change. Tuesday’s decision came alongside a preliminary injunction issued in a lawsuit brought by parents of Louisiana public school students, who are represented by a legal team from the ********* Civil Liberties Union, Americans ******* for Separation of ******* and State and the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Defendants include Louisiana Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley, along with members of the state education board and other local school boards, all of whom the attorney general represents. Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, a *********** whose push to integrate elements of his own ********** ****** into secular life has been central to his political platform, signed the Ten Commandments legislation into law in June. Referred to as HB 71 in the ongoing lawsuit, it ordered all public K-12 classrooms and state-funded universities in Louisiana to display a poster-sized printout of the commandments — a set of moral directives essentially meant to lay the foundation of certain religious sects, including the ********** ******* — in “large, easily readable font” starting next year. Proponents of the law argued it would reinstate a former relic of “state and national history, culture, and tradition” in Louisiana’s public education spaces and claimed the measure was not only rooted in religion. But those who opposed the legislation raised questions about its constitutionality. In an original complaint challenging the Ten Commandments law, the ACLU claimed it amounted to a violation of ******* and state and would effectively discriminate against students, particularly students who are not **********. Their lawsuit sought a court order declaring HB 71 infringed on the constitutional religious rights ***** out by the First Amendment, which forbids the government from “establishing” a religion, or favoring one religion over others, and protects the religious liberties of individual citizens. “The state’s main interest in passing H.B. 71 was to impose religious beliefs on public-school children, regardless of the harm to students and families,” read the original complaint. “The law’s primary sponsor and author, Representative Dodie Horton, proclaimed during debate over the bill that it ‘seeks to have a display of ****’s law in the classroom for children to see what He says is right and what He says is wrong.'” The ACLU said in a statement its lawsuit represented a group of plaintiffs “who are *******, **********, Unitarian Universalist, and non-religious.” Each felt “the newly enacted statute violates longstanding U.S. Supreme Court precedent” along with the U.S. Constitution, the statement added. 7. Mum says her autistic son is like a prisoner in hospital Mum says her autistic son is like a prisoner in hospital Family handout Sebastian was born with autism and is non-verbal A mother whose autistic son has spent 10 months in hospital has said he is being locked away and robbed of a future. Amanda said her son Sebastian, 19, is deemed fit for discharge, but the health trust has been unable to find somewhere for him to live due to his complex needs. The Southern Health Trust confirmed it was continuing to liaise directly with the family to find the most suitable care setting. BBC News NI asked all the trusts for their figures, and it has emerged that at least 22 people in ****** mental health hospitals can be discharged but have nowhere to go. One patient has been in hospital for more than a year. Family handout Sebastian, pictured alongside his mother Amanda, has been in hospital since January Sebastian was born with autism and is non-verbal. He first started respite care when he was four, as his mother needed help because she felt his behaviour was no longer manageable at home. He then went to live in a home for children that catered for his needs. However, when he turned 18, he could no longer live there due to his age. Following a meltdown in January, he was detained in a mental health hospital. Amanda, from Craigavon, said: “My son is living in hospital because he has autism, plain and simple. “He’s autistic, has complex behaviours, and I feel like nobody could be bothered with him any more. “My child does not belong in a building like that; every specialist that he has come across and even his psychiatrists have said he does not belong there.” Family handout Sebastian’s mother said he had limited access to the outside world She said two weeks after being admitted, her son was fit to be discharged from hospital. But the local trust has been unable to find suitable accommodation. His mother said the staff dealing with her son were very good, but a more experienced team was needed to manage his behavioural issues. “To see his giant teddy bear sitting on the bed beside him… he is stressed,” she said. “I feel like he is being treated like a prisoner with limited access to the outside world. He has no life. “He has the mind of a child. It’s so unfair.” The type of accommodation depends on the needs of the patient; it can be a supported-living placement, a residential care home, or a place provided by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. The trusts come together every fortnight as part of a group, known as the resettlement oversight group, to discuss placements. Through a Freedom of Information request, the BBC has seen minutes of some of those meetings. They revealed: Ongoing challenges in finding suitable placements for people with severe learning disabilities and complex autismSome providers would be “pulling back from providing these placements”Cost as well as provider availability was prohibiting placements in cases The Department of Health said it was aware that the availability of community placements was a key barrier to enabling timely discharge from inpatient services. Family handout Sebastian alongside his father Stephen Kerry Boyd, of Autism NI, said a review of autism ****** services was taking place in Northern Ireland. “Many families tell us that they are deeply concerned about the lack of provision for their children post-18, whether that is in relation to lifelong learning, mental health, employment, or supported living,” she said. “It is crucial that autistic adults are allowed to have the same opportunities to live an independent life as the rest of society, and that means there must be supports in place for them to live within appropriate housing too.” A spokesperson for the Southern Trust, which is in charge of Sebastian’s care, said: “As part of that care, all our in-patients have access to green spaces alongside opportunities to participate in purposeful and meaningful daily activities. “We remain committed to working with other partner agencies to find the most suitable supports and placements for individuals with complex needs.” They said less than five other people were in a similar situation. In addition, they said there were 10 residential homes in the trust area registered with the care home watchdog, which provide care for people with a mental illness. “However, it is not possible to specify the number of beds available as the suitability of each placement is based on assessed needs,” the spokesperson added. “The Southern Trust cannot comment on the waiting list policy for admission to each independent sector care home.” The situation in other trusts As of 28 October 2024, the Northern Trust had 10 patients in ****** mental health wards who have been deemed medically fit for discharge and require a residential placement option. The length of delay ranges between four days and 354 days. The trust said the patient waiting the longest required a bespoke placement that had been sourced on two separate occasions and unfortunately had not been able to proceed due to change in circumstances. The South Eastern Trust said there were two patients in ****** mental health wards deemed fit for discharge – one had been waiting 16 days, the other four months. Both are awaiting housing from the Housing Executive. As of 4 November 2024, the Western Trust had two patients in the same situation. One has been waiting 70 days. “There are 204 ****** mental health supported living placements across the Western Trust area,” a spokesperson added. The Belfast Trust said it had fewer than five patients. The longest wait is currently 105 days. 8. Asus ROG Ally PC Handheld Available For $400 At Walmart Asus ROG Ally PC Handheld Available For $400 At Walmart The Asus ROG Ally with the AMD Ryzen Z1 chip is available for $400 at Walmart. This $100 discount might possibly be one of the last deals we see on the base model ROG Ally. Best Buy, the exclusive retail partner for the ROG Ally, has changed its listing to note the Z1 model is no longer available in new condition. So, why does Walmart have the ROG Ally if it’s exclusive to Best Buy? Well, Walmart doesn’t really have the handheld. This deal is hosted on Walmart’s site, but your order will be shipped and sold by Antonline. Nevertheless, it’s eligible for Walmart’s extended holiday returns; if you have any issues or are buying it as a gift, the ROG Ally can be returned to your local Walmart through January 31. $400 (was $500) The base model ROG Ally comes with a sharp 1080p screen, AMD’s Ryzen Z1 processor, 16GB LPDDR5 6400 RAM, and an internal 512GB NVMe SSD. If that’s not enough space, you can always make use of a microSD card for a quick and cheap storage upgrade. Alternatively, you can upgrade the internal SSD with the WD ****** SN770M 1TB or 2TB drive, which is on ***** at Best Buy, too. If you want to upgrade your SSD without spending over $100, the Corsair MP600 Core Mini 1TB SSD for only $70 at Amazon. The ROG Ally offers impressive performance for the price. It’s not going to play graphically demanding games at high settings, but you still can play many AAA titles in 1080p resolution with at least 30fps. It’s an especially great little machine for older AAA titles and indie games that feel right at home on handhelds. It’s worth noting that Windows can be cumbersome on gaming handhelds, unless you pair it with a traditional mouse and keyboard setup. We’d recommend grabbing a budget-friendly docking station, so you can use the device like a regular desktop PC when needing to do anything complex within Windows. Asus also makes a 65W Charger Dock, which has ports for USB-C, USB 2.0, and HDMI 2.0. Asus has a proprietary app called Armoury Crate that gives you a more traditional console-like interface for gaming, which is quite helpful after you have things squared away on the Windows side. Best Buy is still carrying the ROG Ally with the Z1 Extreme chip for those who want more power. It has two additional CPU cores and a better GPU, but the difference in price at the moment–$400 for the base model or $650 for the Z1 Extreme–is too much to make those performance gains worth it. If you want the Z1 Extreme chip, the better deal right now is the Lenovo Legion Go for $549 at Amazon. You’ll get the same internal specs with a larger 8.8-inch display boasting 1600p resolution. The Legion Go also has detachable controllers like the Nintendo Switch, which is a pretty neat feature. Asus Legion Go The Z1 Extreme chip is also used in the newest addition to the Asus handheld PC family: the ROG Ally X. But the ROG Ally X offers meaningful performance boosts with the jump to 24GB RAM and has other welcome improvements, including a 1TB SSD, better battery life, and upgraded joysticks. The ROG Ally X is pricey, though. All of these premium features will cost you $800. If you’re interested in the ROG Ally X, it’s worth noting Asus is releasing a $900 edition with a 2TB SSD on December 9. 10. Pietsch returns home from Wallabies’ grand slam tour Pietsch returns home from Wallabies’ grand slam tour The Wallabies must make at least two enforced team changes after winger Dylan Pietsch was forced out of the grand slam spring tour of Europe with a calf injury. Pietsch is on his way back home to Australia after hurting himself in the Wallabies’ 42-37 tour-opening triumph over England at Twickenham on Sunday morning. The Western Force recruit’s disappointment is joy for Queensland Reds and Australia XV vice-captain Josh Flook, who will join the squad after impressing in a 10-10 draw with Bristol on the weekend. “Dylan Pietsch picked up a calf injury against England and will return to Australia to begin his recovery,” said a Wallabies team statement on social media. “Josh Flook will join the squad in Cardiff.” With skipper Harry Wilson also out of Monday’s clash with Wales due to concussion protocols, coach Joe Schmidt will need to make changes in the back row and backline. Pietsch’s exit will likely mean a promotion for Max Jorgensen, who scored the last-gasp match winner against England, with Samu Kerevi, Harry Potter and Flook in contention to join the bench. Veteran Kerevi would be making his appearance since last year’s ill-fated World Cup while English-born Potter would become the 18th debutant under Schmidt. After starting on the bench at Twickenham, Langi Gleeson looms as a like-for-like No.8 replacement for Wilson. Schmidt, though, also has the option of moving dual John Eales Medallist Rob Valetini to the back of the scrum and Jeremy Williams from the second row to No.6 and calling on 2023 World Cup captain Will Skelton or Lukhan Salakaia-Loto to start at lock. The Wallabies must continue Wales’ winless run this year to keep alive their hopes of a first grand slam sweep of the British Isles since 1984. 12. ‘This shouldn’t happen to anybody’ ‘This shouldn’t happen to anybody’ More than 200 people gathered at a Santa Margarita ranch on Saturday to celebrate the life of 34-year-old Todd Pinion, who was ******* in an alleged hate ****** on Oct. 23. The memorial had all of Pinion’s favorite things — a tie-dye station, a rock-painting station, karaoke and a sound bath. Police found Pinion’s body on Nov. 3 in a remote area near Tassajara Creek, about a week after he had been reported missing on Oct. 30. Spock, his dog who never left his side, was found ***** at the bottom of the Cuesta Grade on Oct. 31. Tyler Stevens, 21, has since been charged with Pinion’s ******* and animal cruelty. The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office alleged Stevens ******* Pinion because of his “actual or perceived ******* orientation.” Melody Pinion, Todd’s mother, described her son as her “hippie boy.” Photos of Todd Pinion are displayed at his memorial in Santa Margarita on Nov. 9, 2024. Pinion was ******* in an alleged hate ****** on Oct. 23, 2024. “It was peace, love, serenity and unity for all. That’s all he wanted. He didn’t think there was an evil bone in anybody’s body,” Melody said. “If he felt negativity, he felt like he had to heal you through that negativity.” At the memorial, she wore a bright orange top, cream crochet vest and colorful yoga pants with a swirl pattern. Her nails had a orange-and-green tie-dye pattern. It wasn’t her style, she said, but it was Todd’s. She was wearing it for him. Especially the rainbow-********, heart-shaped sticker that read, “Justice for Todd.” In the year leading up to his ******, Melody said, Todd struggled with homelessness after a severe head injury left him unable to work and pay his rent. She said she tried to convince to him to move to Oklahoma to live with her temporarily as he got back on his feet, but he wanted to stay in California. There were people there who needed his healing still, she said he told her. “He had just so many different types of people in his life that he had a connection with,” Brandi Anderson, one of Todd’s best friends, told The Tribune. Melody Pinion hugs a loved one at her son Todd’s memorial in Santa Margarita on Nov. 9, 2024. Todd Pinion was ******* in an alleged hate ****** on Oct. 23, 2024. Todd Pinion left ‘profound impression,’ friends say Anderson helped plan the memorial in three days. She said she felt like she owed it to Todd to make the day day special. The two met in 2008 when they were 17 or 18, just when being gay was starting to become more acceptable, she said. “It was starting to kind of come out — literally come out — of the closet,” she said. “I think we both had each other’s backs in that alliance in the beginning and we just ended up having so many similarities.” Anderson said Todd helped her battle addiction, and both went through the loss of friends, partners and family homes being sold. Her grandpa sold her family’s property last year after her grandma *****, Anderson said, and she was struggling with the loss. She was working in Utah at the time, and Pinion unbeknownst to her went to the property and cut a rose off each of her grandma’s rose bushes and repotted them. “He made sure that my grandma’s roses lived on,” Anderson said. “He just knew how to show you he cared in the most genuine, deep possible way you could think of, like that meant everything to me.” A photo of Brandi Anderson, left, and Todd Pinion displayed at Pinion’s memorial in Santa Margarita on Nov. 9, 2024. Pinion was ******* in an alleged hate ****** on Oct. 23, 2024. Jakey Harper, another one of Todd’s best friends, said one of his superpowers was making the person he was with feel special. “He always gave his full attention to people, 100%,” he said. Harper said he met Todd through a mutual friend in 2015. One of his favorite memories was attending a onesie party in San Miguel, where he and Todd spent the entire night dancing, singing and sharing goofy glances from across the room. A few years ago, Harper said, Todd found an orphan baby goose at Pirate’s Cove and decided to save and rehabilitate it. He named the goose Pirate, Harper said, and cared for it until it left his home one day. Harper, like several others, has been struggling with Todd’s ******. But there was a moment prior to the memorial where Harper felt his presence. “All I heard him say was, ‘Don’t despair.’ So I decided to really remember our good times together. He’s an easy person to remember the good times. He’s gonna be so memorable. He made such a profound impression.” Jakey Harper hold a Squirtle stuffed animal given to him by Todd Pinion, at Pinion’s memorial in Santa Margarita on Nov. 9, 2024. Pinion was ******* in an alleged hate ****** on Oct. 23, 2024. Alleged hate ****** is ‘shock’ to SLO County community Katie Peña wore the same outfit Todd was wearing the last time she saw him at SLO Pride — a drag unicorn with a full face of makeup, sleeves to look like hooves, a rainbow ***** and fluffy and colorful tail. She sang Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” on karaoke, an LGBTQ+ anthem about loving, embracing and accepting yourself as you are. When the machine lost its connection, the crowd at the memorial helped her finish the chorus a *********. She described Todd as a free spirit who would open his heart to anybody who needed help. “It’****** a lot of people. It’s just a shock for the area to have that kind of thing happen,” she said. “I’m part of the ****** community, and for that kind of thing to happen to somebody, it’s really sad. But we just have to keep showing love. We can’t hate.” Katie Peña sings Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” during karaoke at the memorial for Todd Pinion in Santa Margarita on Nov. 9, 2024. Pinion was ******* in an alleged hate ****** on Oct. 23, 2024. Alicia Jernigan, who was friends with Todd, said he was “a shining rainbow light of love and the absolute gentlest, sweetest healer,” who touched so many people. “This shouldn’t happen to anybody. But if you ever met Todd, you would be shocked that anyone could ever hurt him. He’s just the sweetest thing,” Jernigan said. She said she is devastated that an alleged hate ****** could happen in San Luis Obispo County. “It’s not OK. We won’t stand for it and we need to stop the hate, because I feel like the gates just opened up for a lot more of this in the next four years,” Jernigan said, referencing former President Donald Trump’s reelection Nov. 7. “We need to keep our eye on it, and we need to make sure everyone knows hate doesn’t stand a chance here.” Yesenia Echevarria didn’t know Todd, but said she felt compelled to honor his life at the memorial to make sure his family knew they were not mourning alone. “This is a dark moment in the history of SLO County,” Echevarria said. “Todd was someone that was beloved in the ****** community, and more than ever our ****** community, especially our kids, are scared and they’re horrified. That’s why we need to be ******* and show that love has way more weight that hate.” Echevarria said she and the SLO County community won’t let Todd’s spirit ****. “If anything, that fuels us as the community to continue to do the work and to stand in the gaps now that he is longer here, for the protection of everyone else.” From left to right, Shanna, Melody and Todd Pinion attend Shanna’s wedding. Todd Pinion, Shanna’s older brother and Melody’s son, was ******* in an alleged hate ****** on Oct. 23, 2024. Beloved family member loved nature, rocks, animals Roger and Jalynn Smith, Todd’s cousins, said Todd always saw the good in people, no matter what. “Just him being in your presence would bring out your best,” Roger said. A memory the two treasure was just last Christmas, they said, when Pinion visited them from Oklahoma. Their 5-year-old daughter loves unicorns, and Pinion had found the perfect unicorn sweater to give her. “While she was opening it up, he ran into the room, put on a unicorn onesie and came out and they were both unicorns together,” Jaylynn said. Now, that’s a memory they’ll treasure forever. Roger Smith, left, shares one of his favorite stories about Todd Pinion, who was ******* in an alleged hate ****** on Oct. 23, 2024, at Pinion’s memorial on Nov. 10, 2024. Smith said Pinion gave his daughter a unicorn sweater for Christmas. Gabriel Legault, Todd’s younger cousin, said that he hadn’t been that close with Pinion growing up, but when his dad ***** a few years ago, Todd showed up with welcoming and comforting arms. The two decided to plan a trip to Big Sur to hunt for ***** — one of Todd’s favorite activities. “I just remember, it’s very easy to be yourself around him, because there’s no feeling of judgment,” Legault said. “He’s just himself, and he just wants you to be, too.” Todd showed Legault all of his secret spots, Legault said, then the two decided to camp. They woke up early to drive home, but were still tired so pulled over on the side of the road. Todd played Pink Floyd, and they took a nap in the car. Todd’s love of rocks started as a young child, his mother, Melody, said. When he was just 5, Todd would spend hours in the backyard collecting and playing with rocks. So, for Christmas when he was 6, Melody got a shoe box, filled it with rocks, wrapped it and then told Todd that Santa wanted him to open that gift first. “His eyes just lit up,” she said. Loved ones of Todd Pinion make tie-dye shirts and bandannas at his memorial in Santa Margarita on Nov. 9, 2024. Pinion was ******* in an alleged hate ****** on Oct. 23, 2024. His love for nature didn’t just stop at rocks, Melody said. He had a gift for connecting with animals — he had a special understanding with his grandmother’s donkey, Dart — and loved creating jewelry out of anything he found. After her son’s ******, Melody received a message from a woman who had only met TOdd once while he was on a roadtrip passing through Flagstaff, Arizona, before visiting the vortexes in Sedona. The woman said Todd was one of her last customers one night, and the two had a conversation that lasted for hours. They laughed, they cried, they hugged. Then Todd gave her earrings he made out of crystals. Just that one conversation had such an impact on her, the woman told Melody. Melody doesn’t take any credit when it comes to the kind soul she raised — Todd was just born that way, she said. All she did was ensure he felt loved, and that their family was always a soft place to fall. Right now, she is trying to practice what Todd has taught her: patience and forgiveness. “I’m trying to find it in my heart. I don’t think I’ll ever forgive Tyler Stevens, ever. I don’t know when and how, but I know Todd would want me to forgive because that’s how Todd was. I need to learn that.” For now, Melody said, she is thankful for all the support from her family, friends, her son’s friends and the community, especially those who have shared the positive way her son has impacted their lives. “That’s what’s getting me through this, because they loved him so much,” she said. Its progression system, “2000s as *****” imagery (“yo dawg, let me send you an SMS via my Nokia”), amazing soundtrack… it’s all beautiful. It’s a really important staple for the racing game genre, being the game which popularized open world exploration and racing in the same package. The Beatles among the nominees for Grammy Awards The nominees for the 2025 Grammy Awards were revealed last Friday. Beyoncé added to her all-time record number of Grammy nominations with 11, followed by Kendrick Lamar, Charli XCX and Billie Eilish with seven nods each. Beyoncé now has a career total 99 Grammy nominations – more than any other artist – but she’s not yet won the Recording Academy’s top prize, album of the year. The Beatles – “Now and Then” has been nominated as record of the year. The song was 45 years in the making. An original John Lennon recording was given to the then-surviving Beatles by Yoko Ono in the early 1990s as they assembled their Anthology project. While Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr completed recording on the Lennon songs ‘Free As A Bird’ and ‘Real Love’, they abandoned work on ‘Now and Then’, in part because of the technical limitations of the time. After several hints over the years, the advances in de-mixing technology used during the Get Back documentary series meant that McCartney and Starr could finally finish off the song, which was finally heard on November 2, 2023. The song has been nominated in two categories at the 67th Grammy Awards, due to take place at the Crypto.com Arena in LA on February 2, 2025: Best Rock Performance and Record of the Year. Discord leaker Jack Teixeira gets 15-year sentence for sharing classified documents Discord leaker Jack Teixeira gets 15-year sentence for sharing classified documents Massachusetts Air National Guard member Jack Teixeira received a 15-year sentence in federal prison for leaking classified military documents on Discord in a Boston federal court, according to . Teixeira appeared before the court earlier today and asked the judge for leniency. He also issued a statement apologizing for “all of the harm that I’ve caused, to my friends, family and those overseas.” Defense attorney Michael Bachrach also claimed that Teixeira was subjected to bullying in high school and his military unit as an adjudicating factor for his actions. Judge Indira Talwani didn’t buy the defense’s bullying claims stating that the Air Force has already disciplined 15 other members connected to Teixeira for not taking more actions “that might have stopped him from doing this.” Teixeira shared classified military documents as far back as late 2022 on a Discord server dedicated to the pixelated sandbox game Minecraft. The ***** included information about the Ukrainian and Russian troop movements and military equipment used in the war in Ukraine and Russia’s attempts to obtain more weapons from Egypt and Turkey. The documents eventually found their way to other Discord servers as well as 4chan and Telegram. FBI officials arrested Teixeira at his home in April of last year. Teixeira originally agreed to with federal prosecutors in March that included a 16-year prison sentence for pleading guilty to six counts of willful retention and transmission of national defense information and violating the Espionage Act. 17. Democrats are losing Latino men. Ruben Gallego has advice on winning them back. Democrats are losing Latino men. Ruben Gallego has advice on winning them back. As Democrats work to sort out last week’s election results and determine why they lost Latino men in droves, a Latino Democrat and senator-elect has some advice for party leaders and top consultants: “Go touch grass and meet real Latinos.” CBS News Tuesday projected Gallego as the victor in Arizona’s U.S. Senate contest against *********** Kari Lake. He believes much of his party is out of touch with a key demographic he says they can’t win national elections without. “There is no winning nationally without Latinos,” Gallego said in an extensive interview with CBS News senior White House and political correspondent Ed O’Keefe Tuesday. “…There’s no path forward into the Democratic Party, into a national party, without Latinos.” Exit polls show Vice President Kamala Harris lost Latino men to President-elect Donald Trump — a significant ***** to a party that’s long relied on them as part of a broad coalition. The results were openly feared most of the past year by Democratic Party leaders and operatives. Going forward, Gallego said candidates need to go out and find Latinos where they already are. Gallego focused on bringing his campaign to Latino voters — sometimes, without talking about politics at all. His campaign hosted rodeos, boxing match watch parties, and carne asada cookouts. His team took food to construction shift workers at work sites after they’d clocked out in the early morning. Knocking on people’s doors, after shift workers are exhausted and preparing for the next day, won’t work, he said. “Talk to them. And talk to them as often as possible,” Gallego said. “And don’t expect you to be able to talk to them one way through TV.” There are “millions and millions” of Latino men out there, Gallego said, and they’re not afraid to speak their mind. Democrats on the national stage also missed the mark in how they spoke about immigration. Gallego’s first Spanish-language TV ad was about border security. Latinos in Arizona looked at the migration crisis at the border, with refugees pouring into the country, and called it “chaos,” Gallego said. While campaigning, “We didn’t actually speak about immigration reform because we know that the Latino voter just doesn’t believe it anymore,” Gallego said, meaning, Latino voters don’t believe Washington will actually pass a massive immigration reform bill in the near future. Instead, Congress needs to focus on fortifying U.S.-Mexico border security first to build trust, he said. But that message, O’Keefe suggested, may be a hard pill to ******** for fellow Democrats. “I’m a pharmacist about to give out very hard pills in the Senate,” Gallego said. Gallego also hinted that Democrats missed the mark on addressing inflation. Born on the south side of Chicago to a Colombian mother and a ******** father, with his mother raising four children alone, Gallego said he knows what it’s like to grow up struggling. He saw the flashing warning signs on inflation, not just in the polls, but as he talked with his working-class family members and constituents. “Growing up working class, there’s nothing more hurtful than working hard and then not being able to provide for your family,” Gallego said. “And I instinctively knew that’s what these men were going through.” “This is the first time I’ve ever seen men say I can’t do this,” Gallego said. “I can’t keep working, and it’s still not making a difference, and that’s when I realized it was really kind of a problem.” Raised by his mother, Gallego became a U.S. Marine and served in the Iraq war. He moved to Arizona for a local political job, ran and won a seat in the state House before winning his first congressional race in 2014, representing most of Phoenix and Glendale. He began on Capitol Hill with an outspoken progressive reputation and was among the Democrats calling on the U.S. Senate to abandon the filibuster. But Gallego has shifted his politics to the center in recent years, a reflection of the state’s roughly three-way voter registration split between Democrats, Republicans and independents. He launched his Senate campaign nearly two years ago, focusing early advertising and outreach on his military service, a key credential in a state with a hefty military and veteran population and a history of electing military veterans, including the late *********** Sen. John McCain, to Congress. With nominal Democratic primary opposition and polls giving him an early lead, independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema announced in March she would not run for reelection, avoiding a three-way contest. Until Sinema won her Senate race in 2018, a Democrat hadn’t been elected to the Senate in Arizona in three decades, though Sinema went on to leave the party. Then in 2020, Sen. Mark Kelly, a Democrat, won a competitive Senate race to serve the remainder of McCain’s term after his ******. In his race, Gallego wasn’t about to give up on Trump voters — or any voters, he said. A rising star in the party — a veteran and Latino who was victorious in a state Trump won — Gallego brushed off questions about a future bid for president. “Can I rule out running? I can — I can rule out a lot of things,” Gallego said. “First thing I want to focus on is this U.S. Senate race.” “That’s not a no,” O’Keefe pointed out. “It’s not a yes, either,” Gallego said, adding a Spanish word for patience: “Cálmate.” Gabrielle Ake and Kaia Hubbard contributed to this report. Its net loss also increased year over year, to $51.9 million from $40.6 million, but its loss of 10 cents per share came in slightly below analyst expectations of a loss of 11 cents a share. Rocket Lab forecast fourth-quarter revenue between $125 million and $135 million, which at the midpoint would see the company bring in about $430 million this year. Additionally, the company announced its first launch deal for its Neutron rocket. A “confidential commercial satellite constellation operator” signed for two missions in mid-2026, which Rocket Lab said were at a price “consistent with our target” for the vehicle. 21. Ospreys rugby player quits game at 24 to protect mental health Ospreys rugby player quits game at 24 to protect mental health BBC Hari Morgan says injuries and the pressures of rugby intensified the grief he was experiencing A former rugby player has said he will not return to the professional game to protect his mental health. Harri Morgan, 24, who played for the Ospreys, announced he was taking a step back from the game in 2023 after trying to take his own life. He lost both his grandparents in a short space of time and the pressures of a professional sporting environment made matters worse. The Welsh Rugby Union said transitions and exits from the game could be turbulent, and they were focused on working on how players were supported through them. Morgan, a former Wales under-20s player, who also turned out for his hometown club Bridgend, saw his short-lived professional career hampered by injuries. Rugby used to be an outlet, but he said injuries and pressures of the sport intensified the grief he was experiencing. Mental health in rugby ‘going in right direction’ ‘’A lot of the negatives [in mental health] were leading back to rugby and the impact that was having,” he told BBC Wales Live. “Especially the injuries and the pressures of being in a professional environment. ‘’I definitely didn’t feel as if there was a lot of support around this sort of injured group within rugby. ‘’I didn’t feel as if I could say anything because I was letting down teammates, coaches and end of the day, I still needed to get a contract.’’ This sense of isolation only increased after both his grandparents ***** within a short space of time. ‘’It started off like sort of anxiety,” he added. “My heart would start racing and I’d get shortness of breath.’’ He said he became unable to cope and considered taking his life, saying: “I didn’t really feel anything, I just felt empty.” Morgan said he received great support from his club, Swansea-based Ospreys, after opening up. ‘’I can’t fault the club, they were amazing,’’ he said. ‘’They gave me the time and the space I needed and the opportunity to go back if I wanted to take it.’’ But he is clear he doesn’t see himself returning to the professional game, adding: “People ask me now, ‘do you want to get back into rugby?’ ‘’I’ve had the opportunity to get back in and I’ve said no, every time. I’d rather be happy than have all those benefits of being a professional rugby player.’’ He now manages a gym and works as a fitness coach, and hopes to see more support put in place for players. “It’s putting a space for those conversations to take place and the people of power within rugby saying ‘you’re struggling, what can we do to help?’ ‘’It’s the culture and understanding the individual and what they need.’’ Fellow Ospreys player Lloyd Ashley (left), is also working to change the way that professional rugby teams and players approach mental health Another former Ospreys player, Lloyd Ashley, has been appointed lead for mental health and wellbeing by trade body the Welsh Rugby Players Association. ‘’Just generally as a society we need to find it easier to check in on each other,” he said. Ashley hopes lessons learnt in rugby will filter through to other sports and also general society. ‘’The fact that we don’t just say when somebody says to us ‘how are you?’, we don’t just go, ‘yeah good, you?’, without even thinking about it,” he said. ‘’I hope that trickles into everybody’s lives because it’s important that we have spaces where we feel safe enough to be honest.” International player Dan Lydiate believes things have changed for the better since his debut for Wales in 2009. ‘’I think we’re talking about mental health more,” said the 36-year-old Grand Slam winner. “There’s more of an awareness of what’s going on in people’s lives which is a positive move.’’ After his father ***** two years ago, he said rugby was a lifeline. ‘’The only thing that was normal for me was to just get back into rugby and play the following week,” he added. ‘’I miss him now. Where I jump in the car, first thing I’d do, I’d pick up the phone and ring him on my way back. ‘’For all my career, until two years ago, that’s what we did every day.’’ He can understand why players struggle. ‘’In rugby, people see the highs but they don’t see the lows,’’ he said. ‘’They don’t see when you’re battered and bruised and ***** up in a hospital bed and struggling to put a pair of pants on because you’ve broken bones and stuff like that. ‘’It’s not all smiles on faces. It is a tough career on the body and the mind.’’ Fellow Wales international and Dragons teammate Shane Lewis-Hughes, 27, believes conversations around mental health should be happening day-to-day. ‘’I think as a man, especially in a sporting environment, it’s almost like sometimes you bury your problems and you think they’re going to stay away but they don’t,” he said. Dan Lydiate, who now plays for the Dragons in Newport, won 72 caps for Wales and also played for the British & Irish Lions In a statement, the WRU said: “It is always difficult to hear of problems experienced by individuals from within the rugby family and, whilst our hearts go out to anyone who is struggling or has struggled in this area, we are also extremely grateful to and encouraging of the players who are bravely speaking out on this subject.” It added that clinical psychologist Dr Dale Thomas worked with the two national teams and the Welsh Rugby Players Association. “With over 300 member clubs and districts, Welsh rugby is a pervasive and positive force in this area throughout the country, with our clubs serving as hubs and gathering places for all those involved to share problems and help each other,” it added. The statement said the WRU is “very proud” of its proactive approach through the community game, promoting the importance of all participants looking after themselves both physically and mentally. In September, series creator and head of Naughty Dog Neil Druckmann said that the show will ***** further into areas that they couldn’t do for the game. “And there’s stuff in this season that I’m really excited about — stuff that we hinted at — one scene in particular comes to mind that I think fans of the game will eat up, because it really kind of tells you a lot of backstory of this important character that there wasn’t really a way for us to even do that in the game,” he said. It was also has been said that the story of the second game will likely be told over multiple seasons meaning that the show should at least get a third season. “We don’t think that we’re going to be able to tell the story even within two [more] seasons because we’re taking our time and [going] down interesting pathways which we did a little bit in season one too,” Showrunner Crag Mazin told The Hollywood Reporter. “We feel like it’s almost assuredly going to be the case that – as long as people keep watching and we can keep making more television – season three will be significantly larger. 23. Apple’s rumored smart home display might arrive early next year with Apple Intelligence onboard Apple’s rumored smart home display might arrive early next year with Apple Intelligence onboard Apple’s long-rumored smart home display might arrive as soon as March 2025 It could have a six-inch screen and run a new operating system Apple Intelligence could be front and center There is seldom a shortage of Apple rumors, but one that has been constant – and heating up in recent months – is that the technology giant is planning to release a smart home display. And it makes a lot of sense as Apple continues to push into the smart home – there are already two smart speakers, the HomePod and HomePod mini, major updates to the Home app, and we can’t forget that Apple is part of the smart home standard Matter. Now, though, it seems Apple is working at a record pace to ready a smart home display. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that “a wall-mounted display that can control appliances, handle videoconferencing, and use AI to navigate apps” could launch as early as March 2025. That’s just five months away, and it sounds like a direct competitor to Amazon’s Echo Show 15. It might also be my dream Apple smart home display and a bit better than just a HomePod with a screen. Gurman shares a bit more about the smart display, which is codenamed J490. As expected, it’ll be a showcase for Apple Intelligence and likely the smarter features of the forthcoming Siri. From a design and hardware standpoint, it’ll come in silver or ****** and stand as a 6-inch square screen that resembles an iPad with thicker bezels. The report states it’s “about the size of two iPhones side by side” with a built-in camera seemingly for FaceTime calls or home monitoring, speakers, and a rechargeable battery. (Image credit: Apple) There is no mention of the processor, but we’d expect it to be Apple Silicon as it will need to power some other sensors, including one that can detect how many people are near the display. This is likely similar to Google’s Soli technology that is used on the Nest Thermostat to adjust what’s on screen based on whether you’re closer to it or farther away. Bloomberg’s report notes that the operating system is a cross between watchOS and the iPhone’s StandBy mode. This means you’ll likely get dedicated apps and peek into them like widgets. It’s reported that it will run FaceTime, Safari, Music, and Calendar, among others. Of course, it will also be an ideal way to control the smart home, and it is being pegged as a “Command Center.” As far as interactions go, it will either be touch or hands-free voice through Siri, much like a HomePod or HomePod Mini. The report notes that the smart display was “designed around App Intents, a system that lets AI precisely control applications and tasks” – a feature originally shown off at WWDC 2024 when Apple Intelligence was launched. Just as Amazon offers several designs for Echos or how Google’s Pixel Tablet can be affixed to a stand, Apple has reportedly made different attachments or bases for the smart display. The report notes that beyond hanging on a wall, there will be bases for placing it on a desk, nightstand, or even counter, and these will offer better sound through additional speakers. It ******** to be seen if the wall attachment will be done magnetically to a mount, allowing you to move it around quickly. Like other smart displays, Apple’s will likely be a standalone device that you set up with an iPhone and sign in to with your Apple Account (formerly an Apple ID) to enable easy data syncing and the ability to hand off things like music or a call. While this is a stationary, non-moving smart display from Apple, there are also many rumors of an intelligent display attached to a robotic arm that the company is said to be working on. Bloomberg’s latest report notes that it is in the pipeline but farther out and will be much more costly at $1,000. That makes sense, considering it’s a ******. This smart display, which could launch next year, is said to be “far-less” expensive and closer in line with competitors like Amazon’s Echo Show. (Image credit: Future) All in all, it feels like it’s about time for Apple to really enter the smart home, and it seems like the company really wants to take a piece of the smart display market from the mainstays. If it’s anything like the HomePod, iPad, or iPhone, we can expect it to offer a premium build with strong audio and a good interface. It would also likely check off the box for a lot of folks who have been waiting for a proper smart home control panel. Further, it would reinforce Apple’s commitment to the smart home and show that it’s a category that the company sees on its roadmap for the long haul and one that it’ll likely continue to invest in. We also saw rumors this week that Apple is considering developing smart home accessories like cameras, and this report does mention that the development of those could be sped up if the smart display succeeds. Of course, until Apple announces it’s all but a rumor, so take this with a grain of salt, but I wouldn’t be shocked if the rumored smart display from the Cupertino-based technology giant eventually sees the light of day. 25. ‘I was amazed’: Zelda leads react to Echoes of Wisdom speedruns, and criticism ‘I was amazed’: Zelda leads react to Echoes of Wisdom speedruns, and criticism The creative leadership behind the latest Legend of Zelda game, Echoes of Wisdom, have responded to players’ creative tricks to speedrun the game, as well as common criticisms of the title. Since its release, players have used Echoes of Wisdom’s spawnable items in various surprising combinations to more quickly and easily beat the game. The game’s co-director, Satoshi Terada, said even he was surprised by what players came up with once the game was released. “Seeing how players are using it, I was really amazed at people’s imaginations,” he told the BBC, going on to mention a popular trick, which sees players combining beds with a tornado ****** to propel Zelda into the air, skipping larges sections. “That was one that we hadn’t thought of,” he said. Co-director Tomomi Sano added: “Players were using the tornado and the bed to actually climb and go over mountains. And this was something that I was amazed by, something that I probably wouldn’t be able to do.” Echoes of Wisdoms received mostly positive reviews at release, though there was some common criticism of the game, particularly its uneven performance on the ageing Nintendo Switch console. Sano told the BBC that Echoes of Wisdom uses a variable framerate, and that the developers felt this was the “best option” available for the game. Terada addressed another common criticism, that it’s difficult to navigate the game’s over-100 spawnable creature and items via its UI menu. “One of the essences of this game is being able to figure out different ways of using each of these echoes,” he said. “And so in that sense we wanted players to fall upon and see the echoes that they may not have noticed or have been using while they’re sorting through all the echoes that they have.” He also pointed out that players can more quickly navigate their inventory using the alternative notebook method. In VGC’s Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom review, we wrote: “Despite some ambitious ideas, beneath the surface Echoes of Wisdom is a surprisingly uneven Zelda adventure. Few of its headline mechanics are utilised to their potential which means that, while enjoyable and charming, it ultimately feels less essential than other modern 2D entries.” Source link #amazed #Zelda #leads #react #Echoes #Wisdom #speedruns #criticism Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
