  2. Innocent Scot’s identity used to scam football fans Innocent Scot’s identity used to scam football fans A Scottish man whose identity was stolen to front a fake Premier League football ticket website says he is devastated that scammed fans believe he is responsible. Ticket Maestro, which launched in July, claimed to be selling tickets to top football matches but the BBC has since heard from supporters who paid hundreds of pounds for tickets they never received. A BBC Radio 4 You and Yours investigation found that Richard Russell was named on official documents as the boss of the online ticketing site without him knowing anything about it. Mr Russell, 44, says his family address, near Stirling, is now being published online and disappointed fans are threatening to turn up to get their money back. Ticket Maestro claimed to be selling tickets for fixtures in the Premier League, as well as certain matches in the Scottish Premiership and the Champions League. It described itself as a “Trusted and Licensed Ticketing Partner” [sic] when the website was active. Three months after it was set up, having taken thousands of pound in ticket orders, it disappeared. A BBC investigation has revealed Ticket Maestro was not licenced to sell Premier League tickets, and doing so unauthorised is ********. Richard Russell’s name was used to signed off all correspondence, including order confirmation letters and customer service emails. A limited company, UCL Tickets Ltd, was named on bank statements when customers paid. It had an individual called “Richard Rutherford Russell” listed as director on Companies House. The BBC tracked down Mr Russell based on this information held at Companies House. He told the BBC he was astonished to discover his identity was being used as director of UCL Tickets Ltd – a firm he had never heard of, and with which he had never consented to be involved. Mr Russell said: “I have no idea about football tickets. I have never had anything to do with football tickets. I couldn’t even tell you two or three teams in a football league in the *** just now.” Eight years ago Mr Russell married an Albanian woman and has since lived in the country’s capital Tirana with his wife and their two-year-old daughter. He explained that the address documented in Companies House records is actually his parents’ home in Callander, near Stirling. They also have nothing to do with the website. It was in October, when his parents received a letter in the post naming “Richard Rutherford Russell” as director of UCL Tickets Ltd, that Mr Russell realised he had been a victim of identity theft . He told You and Yours: “I thought it could’ve been a scam letter, so I went onto Companies House and checked the company number. “Sure enough, I saw there was filing for my name against a company that I knew nothing about. It said I had been active since April.” Once he received the letter from Companies House, Mr Russell says he began trying to remove his name. “I had to send details proving that my parent’s address in the *** has nothing to do with Ticket Maestro, and that I have nothing to do with it,” he says. “I sent my passport, bank statements and everything. “They came back to me very quickly and said, ‘we agree with you, we have taken you off that and it will be reflected instantly’.” Although his name has been removed from the profile on Companies House, Mr Russell says he has been devastated by reviews left on Trustpilot which had named him based on the company information. Mr Russell said: “It’s the ones that have put ‘here is this guy’s home address, he is based here’. The address they are quoting is my parents’ address. “It’s horrible to think someone can use your name online while they are basically stealing money off people.” A spokesperson for Trustpilot said: “We take the integrity of our platform extremely seriously. “When businesses sign up to use Trustpilot they agree to adhere to a strict set of guidelines, and if we find there has been any attempt to mislead consumers through reviews, our specialist teams enforce our Action We Take policy. “Our platform is open, independent and impartial. Anyone can leave a review, so long as it’s based on a genuine experience.” Trustpilot say it has removed hundreds of reviews from Ticket Maestro’s profile, closed it to new reviews and placed a warning banner on the profile, telling consumers what it has done. Fans say Ticket Maestro managed to defraud them out of a considerable amount of money. Online payments system PayPal says it has received hundreds of refund claims from people who bought tickets from the website. PayPal says tickets that have been purchased are eligible for Buyer Protection, which covers purchases that don’t arrive or don’t match the seller’s description. The BBC attempted to make contact with Ticket Maestro using the email address it had used to communicate with customers but it bounced back. There was no phone number associated with the website. Meanwhile, Leicestershire Police say they have launched an investigation. A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “A 30-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of *********** to defraud and has since been released under investigation. Enquiries remain ongoing as our investigation continues.“ Source link #Innocent #Scots #identity #scam #football #fans Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  13. Amgen stock falls on weight loss *****’s bone density loss data Amgen stock falls on weight loss *****’s bone density loss data Shares of Amgen fell more than 7% Tuesday as analysts chewed over bone density loss data from an early-stage trial on its experimental weight loss injection, MariTide. One analyst said the additional data suggests a new potential safety risk tied to the *****. But others said the share move was an overreaction, and that more data on a larger group of patients is needed. Amgen did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the data The ***** is a promising potential competitor in the weight loss ***** market. It is designed to be taken monthly, rather than once a week like existing injections from Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly, and promotes weight loss differently. Wall Street is waiting for crucial phase two trial results on MariTide, which are set to be released before the end of the year. Analysts on Tuesday cited additional publicly available data from a phase one study showing that the highest dose of MariTide – 420 milligrams – was linked to roughly 4% loss of bone mineral density over 12 weeks. A decrease in bone mineral density refers to when bones lose calcium and other minerals, making them weaker and more likely to break. In a research note, Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Olivia Brayer called the data a “big unknown” and suggested it could be a potential risk associated with drugs like MariTide, which work by using so-called GIPR antagonism. Amgen’s injection works by blocking a gut hormone receptor called GIP but also activates another appetite-suppressing hormone called GLP-1. That’s unlike Eli Lilly’s obesity *****, Zepbound, which activates GIP and GLP-1. Wegovy activates GLP-1 but does not target GIP, which may also affect how the body breaks down sugar and ****. “On one hand, patients could naturally lose bone mineral density during weight loss treatment,” Brayer wrote. But Brayer said, “on the other hand, this could be a non-starter because there seems to be a dose-dependent increase” in bone mineral density loss. That means patients appear to lose more bone mineral density the higher the dose they take. Meanwhile, Jefferies analyst Michael Yee wrote in a note that the additional MariTide data seems to be a “non-issue.” Yee acknowledged that people on the highest dose of the ***** had declines in bone density, but said “the data is all over the place.” For example, he pointed to data on a lower dose of the ***** showing that bone density actually increased by 1% before normalizing. Yee added that bone mineral density “changes” are a known side effect of weight loss drugs in the first one to three months of use because people lose significant weight quickly. Amgen is also aware of the “hypothetical concern” of bone mineral density loss, Yee said, citing the firm’s discussions with management. “While obviously not saying there is zero effect, we are saying we don’t think there is a concern, significant [bone mineral density] drop sustained over time, or clinical risk or concern,” Jefferies said. “Overall we don’t believe there is an issue and the effect is normalized over time.” BMO analyst Evan Seigerman wrote in a note Tuesday that “We’d be cautious about making an overarching judgment on the safety profile of MariTide with this data.” He added that “we’d be more comfortable judging the safety profile from a larger cohort of patients.” There may not be a clear answer until Amgen releases full phase two trial data on the *****. “Our view on MariTide hasn’t changed with this and if anything we see the selling as overdone,” Seigerman wrote. 14. EA CEO Reportedly In The Mix To Be The Next Disney Boss EA CEO Reportedly In The Mix To Be The Next Disney Boss Disney is currently looking to find some new blood to succeed longtime CEO Bob Iger, and out of the possible candidates, EA’s Andrew Wilson is reportedly being considered for the role. According to the Wall Street Journal, Disney is looking at bringing in external candidates, and Wilson’s name has appeared alongside other notable business persons like Disney Entertainment co-chairman Dana Walden, Disney parks chairman Josh D’Amaro, ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro, and Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman. EA has also had a long relationship with Disney, as the Star Wars games developed by the company have sold over 52 million copies combined and have generated more than $3 billion in revenue. Currently, EA is also working on new Star Wars and Marvel titles, like a Star Wars Jedi threequel, Iron Man, and ****** Panther games. Wilson has had a long history with EA, serving the company as its CEO since 2013 and as its chairman since 2021. He almost took over as ESPN chairman in 2018–the job ultimately went to Pitaro–and there were reports that Disney was considering purchasing EA during Bob Chapek’s reign as CEO. The race to replace Iger comes amidst a series of controversies surrounding the CEO. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars have seen Disney rake in billions at the box office, the company has been criticized for relying heavily on sequels over original content, and She-Hulk star Tatiana Maslany slammed him for being “out of touch” with workers during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America strike. Iger served as Disney CEO from 2005 until 2020 and continued as an advisor to his successor, Chapek. You’ll make a few thousand dollars per harvest, and adequate money compounds over time. But if you’d rather keep your harvest at home to earn more money, take advantage of production chains. As its name implies, the production chain mechanic requires a chain of goods, materials, and machines to process raw items into tangible, physical goods that you may sell to corporations or businesses around the map. First, you’ll likely prioritize crops, as every map begins with a few fields. As such, I recommend prioritizing canned goods, as they’ll initially provide a more straightforward production chain. That said, you must invest copious amounts of money. Not only must you buy seeds, prep the fields, and perform the usual harvesting processes to gather your vegetables, but you also require a factory. With a factory, depending on its type, you can turn crops and animal products, like milk or eggs, into processed goods that earn more money. There are numerous factory types in the game, some specifically for crops and others for forestry, for example. You can buy a pre-built factory somewhere on the map or place one yourself using the game’s build mode. Either way, expect to pay an arm and a leg. What’s your first production chain in Farming Simulator 25 going to be? Let us know in the comments, or start a thread in the community forum to discuss strategy and crop rotations with other fans! Sales of toys and games saw a big lift during Covid as more families spent time at home during lockdowns, but sales have fallen since 2021, and currently sit just below 2019 levels, according to Circana. It said the average price of a toy last December was £12.95, while more than six times that amount was typically spent on toys for children aged up to 10 at Christmas. 17. Judge rules Louisiana law ordering schools to display Ten Commandments violates First Amendment Judge rules Louisiana law ordering schools to display Ten Commandments violates First Amendment A federal judge has temporarily blocked a Louisiana law that would have required public schools statewide to display the Ten Commandments in their classrooms by Jan. 1. U.S. District Judge John W. deGravelles of Baton Rouge, who was appointed by former President Barack Obama, ruled Tuesday that the law violates the free exercise and establishment clauses of the First Amendment. The ruling found the Louisiana law was “unconstitutional on its face and in every application,” prohibited Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill and defendants in this case from enforcing the mandate, and required them to notify public schools of the change. Tuesday’s decision came alongside a preliminary injunction issued in a lawsuit brought by parents of Louisiana public school students, who are represented by a legal team from the ********* Civil Liberties Union, Americans ******* for Separation of ******* and State and the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Defendants include Louisiana Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley, along with members of the state education board and other local school boards, all of whom the attorney general represents. Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, a *********** whose push to integrate elements of his own ********** ****** into secular life has been central to his political platform, signed the Ten Commandments legislation into law in June. Referred to as HB 71 in the ongoing lawsuit, it ordered all public K-12 classrooms and state-funded universities in Louisiana to display a poster-sized printout of the commandments — a set of moral directives essentially meant to lay the foundation of certain religious sects, including the ********** ******* — in “large, easily readable font” starting next year. Proponents of the law argued it would reinstate a former relic of “state and national history, culture, and tradition” in Louisiana’s public education spaces and claimed the measure was not only rooted in religion. But those who opposed the legislation raised questions about its constitutionality. In an original complaint challenging the Ten Commandments law, the ACLU claimed it amounted to a violation of ******* and state and would effectively discriminate against students, particularly students who are not **********. Their lawsuit sought a court order declaring HB 71 infringed on the constitutional religious rights ***** out by the First Amendment, which forbids the government from “establishing” a religion, or favoring one religion over others, and protects the religious liberties of individual citizens. “The state’s main interest in passing H.B. 71 was to impose religious beliefs on public-school children, regardless of the harm to students and families,” read the original complaint. “The law’s primary sponsor and author, Representative Dodie Horton, proclaimed during debate over the bill that it ‘seeks to have a display of ****’s law in the classroom for children to see what He says is right and what He says is wrong.'” The ACLU said in a statement its lawsuit represented a group of plaintiffs “who are *******, **********, Unitarian Universalist, and non-religious.” Each felt “the newly enacted statute violates longstanding U.S. Supreme Court precedent” along with the U.S. Constitution, the statement added. 21. Mum says her autistic son is like a prisoner in hospital Mum says her autistic son is like a prisoner in hospital Family handout Sebastian was born with autism and is non-verbal A mother whose autistic son has spent 10 months in hospital has said he is being locked away and robbed of a future. Amanda said her son Sebastian, 19, is deemed fit for discharge, but the health trust has been unable to find somewhere for him to live due to his complex needs. The Southern Health Trust confirmed it was continuing to liaise directly with the family to find the most suitable care setting. BBC News NI asked all the trusts for their figures, and it has emerged that at least 22 people in ****** mental health hospitals can be discharged but have nowhere to go. One patient has been in hospital for more than a year. Family handout Sebastian, pictured alongside his mother Amanda, has been in hospital since January Sebastian was born with autism and is non-verbal. He first started respite care when he was four, as his mother needed help because she felt his behaviour was no longer manageable at home. He then went to live in a home for children that catered for his needs. However, when he turned 18, he could no longer live there due to his age. Following a meltdown in January, he was detained in a mental health hospital. Amanda, from Craigavon, said: “My son is living in hospital because he has autism, plain and simple. “He’s autistic, has complex behaviours, and I feel like nobody could be bothered with him any more. “My child does not belong in a building like that; every specialist that he has come across and even his psychiatrists have said he does not belong there.” Family handout Sebastian’s mother said he had limited access to the outside world She said two weeks after being admitted, her son was fit to be discharged from hospital. But the local trust has been unable to find suitable accommodation. His mother said the staff dealing with her son were very good, but a more experienced team was needed to manage his behavioural issues. “To see his giant teddy bear sitting on the bed beside him… he is stressed,” she said. “I feel like he is being treated like a prisoner with limited access to the outside world. He has no life. “He has the mind of a child. It’s so unfair.” The type of accommodation depends on the needs of the patient; it can be a supported-living placement, a residential care home, or a place provided by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. The trusts come together every fortnight as part of a group, known as the resettlement oversight group, to discuss placements. Through a Freedom of Information request, the BBC has seen minutes of some of those meetings. They revealed: Ongoing challenges in finding suitable placements for people with severe learning disabilities and complex autismSome providers would be “pulling back from providing these placements”Cost as well as provider availability was prohibiting placements in cases The Department of Health said it was aware that the availability of community placements was a key barrier to enabling timely discharge from inpatient services. Family handout Sebastian alongside his father Stephen Kerry Boyd, of Autism NI, said a review of autism ****** services was taking place in Northern Ireland. “Many families tell us that they are deeply concerned about the lack of provision for their children post-18, whether that is in relation to lifelong learning, mental health, employment, or supported living,” she said. “It is crucial that autistic adults are allowed to have the same opportunities to live an independent life as the rest of society, and that means there must be supports in place for them to live within appropriate housing too.” A spokesperson for the Southern Trust, which is in charge of Sebastian’s care, said: “As part of that care, all our in-patients have access to green spaces alongside opportunities to participate in purposeful and meaningful daily activities. “We remain committed to working with other partner agencies to find the most suitable supports and placements for individuals with complex needs.” They said less than five other people were in a similar situation. In addition, they said there were 10 residential homes in the trust area registered with the care home watchdog, which provide care for people with a mental illness. “However, it is not possible to specify the number of beds available as the suitability of each placement is based on assessed needs,” the spokesperson added. “The Southern Trust cannot comment on the waiting list policy for admission to each independent sector care home.” The situation in other trusts As of 28 October 2024, the Northern Trust had 10 patients in ****** mental health wards who have been deemed medically fit for discharge and require a residential placement option. The length of delay ranges between four days and 354 days. The trust said the patient waiting the longest required a bespoke placement that had been sourced on two separate occasions and unfortunately had not been able to proceed due to change in circumstances. The South Eastern Trust said there were two patients in ****** mental health wards deemed fit for discharge – one had been waiting 16 days, the other four months. Both are awaiting housing from the Housing Executive. As of 4 November 2024, the Western Trust had two patients in the same situation. One has been waiting 70 days. “There are 204 ****** mental health supported living placements across the Western Trust area,” a spokesperson added. The Belfast Trust said it had fewer than five patients. The longest wait is currently 105 days. 22. Asus ROG Ally PC Handheld Available For $400 At Walmart Asus ROG Ally PC Handheld Available For $400 At Walmart The Asus ROG Ally with the AMD Ryzen Z1 chip is available for $400 at Walmart. This $100 discount might possibly be one of the last deals we see on the base model ROG Ally. Best Buy, the exclusive retail partner for the ROG Ally, has changed its listing to note the Z1 model is no longer available in new condition. So, why does Walmart have the ROG Ally if it’s exclusive to Best Buy? Well, Walmart doesn’t really have the handheld. This deal is hosted on Walmart’s site, but your order will be shipped and sold by Antonline. Nevertheless, it’s eligible for Walmart’s extended holiday returns; if you have any issues or are buying it as a gift, the ROG Ally can be returned to your local Walmart through January 31. $400 (was $500) The base model ROG Ally comes with a sharp 1080p screen, AMD’s Ryzen Z1 processor, 16GB LPDDR5 6400 RAM, and an internal 512GB NVMe SSD. If that’s not enough space, you can always make use of a microSD card for a quick and cheap storage upgrade. Alternatively, you can upgrade the internal SSD with the WD ****** SN770M 1TB or 2TB drive, which is on ***** at Best Buy, too. If you want to upgrade your SSD without spending over $100, the Corsair MP600 Core Mini 1TB SSD for only $70 at Amazon. The ROG Ally offers impressive performance for the price. It’s not going to play graphically demanding games at high settings, but you still can play many AAA titles in 1080p resolution with at least 30fps. It’s an especially great little machine for older AAA titles and indie games that feel right at home on handhelds. It’s worth noting that Windows can be cumbersome on gaming handhelds, unless you pair it with a traditional mouse and keyboard setup. We’d recommend grabbing a budget-friendly docking station, so you can use the device like a regular desktop PC when needing to do anything complex within Windows. Asus also makes a 65W Charger Dock, which has ports for USB-C, USB 2.0, and HDMI 2.0. Asus has a proprietary app called Armoury Crate that gives you a more traditional console-like interface for gaming, which is quite helpful after you have things squared away on the Windows side. Best Buy is still carrying the ROG Ally with the Z1 Extreme chip for those who want more power. It has two additional CPU cores and a better GPU, but the difference in price at the moment–$400 for the base model or $650 for the Z1 Extreme–is too much to make those performance gains worth it. If you want the Z1 Extreme chip, the better deal right now is the Lenovo Legion Go for $549 at Amazon. You’ll get the same internal specs with a larger 8.8-inch display boasting 1600p resolution. The Legion Go also has detachable controllers like the Nintendo Switch, which is a pretty neat feature. Asus Legion Go The Z1 Extreme chip is also used in the newest addition to the Asus handheld PC family: the ROG Ally X. But the ROG Ally X offers meaningful performance boosts with the jump to 24GB RAM and has other welcome improvements, including a 1TB SSD, better battery life, and upgraded joysticks. The ROG Ally X is pricey, though. All of these premium features will cost you $800. If you’re interested in the ROG Ally X, it’s worth noting Asus is releasing a $900 edition with a 2TB SSD on December 9. 24. Pietsch returns home from Wallabies’ grand slam tour Pietsch returns home from Wallabies’ grand slam tour The Wallabies must make at least two enforced team changes after winger Dylan Pietsch was forced out of the grand slam spring tour of Europe with a calf injury. Pietsch is on his way back home to Australia after hurting himself in the Wallabies’ 42-37 tour-opening triumph over England at Twickenham on Sunday morning. The Western Force recruit’s disappointment is joy for Queensland Reds and Australia XV vice-captain Josh Flook, who will join the squad after impressing in a 10-10 draw with Bristol on the weekend. “Dylan Pietsch picked up a calf injury against England and will return to Australia to begin his recovery,” said a Wallabies team statement on social media. “Josh Flook will join the squad in Cardiff.” With skipper Harry Wilson also out of Monday’s clash with Wales due to concussion protocols, coach Joe Schmidt will need to make changes in the back row and backline. Pietsch’s exit will likely mean a promotion for Max Jorgensen, who scored the last-gasp match winner against England, with Samu Kerevi, Harry Potter and Flook in contention to join the bench. Veteran Kerevi would be making his appearance since last year’s ill-fated World Cup while English-born Potter would become the 18th debutant under Schmidt. After starting on the bench at Twickenham, Langi Gleeson looms as a like-for-like No.8 replacement for Wilson. Schmidt, though, also has the option of moving dual John Eales Medallist Rob Valetini to the back of the scrum and Jeremy Williams from the second row to No.6 and calling on 2023 World Cup captain Will Skelton or Lukhan Salakaia-Loto to start at lock. The Wallabies must continue Wales’ winless run this year to keep alive their hopes of a first grand slam sweep of the British Isles since 1984.
