Dell is selling one of its most popular Alienware gaming monitors at a deep discount. The 32-inch model is more than $400 off, now costing $765 instead of $1,200. The display is on ***** for $900 outright, but enter “MONITORS15” at checkout for an additional 15 percent off. The 34-inch model is $250 off, but there’s no available coupon code. This is one of our favorite gaming monitors and we called it “an incredible ultrawide OLED.” It boasts a curved QD-OLED panel. It also features 4K resolution and a max refresh rate of 240Hz, which is a fantastic metric for gaming. These monitors allow access to Dolby Vision, NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD Free-Sync. Dell Make sure to enter the coupon code at checkout. Save $435 with code MONITORS15 $765 at Dell The ports are also on point. These displays include a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports, a single USB-B upstream port, four USB-A downstream ports and a single USB-C port. One of the USB-A ports also supports BC1.2 power-charging. 2. Teacher Suspended and Allegedly Could be Fired for Refusing to Remove Crucifix Teacher Suspended and Allegedly Could be Fired for Refusing to Remove Crucifix A veteran Connecticut teacher says she’s been placed on administrative leave and could be terminated for her refusal to remove a crucifix from her workspace. Marisol Arroyo-Castro, who has been teaching for 32 years, told CBN News problems began last month when she was abruptly called into the vice principal’s office. “It was a regular day,” Arroyo-Castro said of the Dec. 6 encounter. “I’m sitting at my desk at lunch and opening my email and I get a (message) from my supervisor asking me to come and see him, and bring the union rep for a meeting regarding my cross.” She continued, “So that was shocking in itself. I didn’t know what to expect.” According to Arroyo-Castro and her attorneys with First Liberty, she was told to remove the crucifix, which has reportedly been on the wall next to her desk for the past decade without incident. According to a statement, she was told a failure to take it down would be considered punishable insubordination. “She was later told she could put the crucifix in a drawer or under her desk, so students wouldn’t see it,” the statement continued. “After she did so, Marisol started to ****, feeling as though she ‘hid it under a bushel,’ rather than let her light shine. After many tears and prayer, she returned the crucifix to its original location.” That move resulted in a two-day suspension without pay for Arroyo-Castro. According to First Liberty, she is now on administrative leave while the district considers whether to terminate her employment. Arroyo-Castro told CBN News the cross has been an important symbol to her. As a Catholic, her grandmother stressed its importance and she was taught to have one with her throughout her life. Its placement near her desk, she said, was something she never thought twice about. “It was my comfort zone,” she said, noting it brought solace. “It was my place to be. It was just there.” Arroyo-Castro’s lawyers have demanded the district reconsider these moves, expressing grievances in a letter to New Britain School District officials. Keisha Russell, senior counsel at First Liberty Institute, told CBN News they believe their client is perfectly within her rights to have the crucifix near her desk, noting other educators place articles on display that mirror their own personal likes and perspectives. “We have people who celebrate the sporting team that they like, there’s Baby Yoda, there’s all kinds of things,” she said. “What you would expect someone — a teacher — to have in their personal desk space — pictures of family, etc., and that means that that space is that teacher’s private expression.” Ultimately, Russell argued the “district cannot censor” the crucifix and that Arroyo-Castro should be treated like other educators who place symbols and photos next to their desks. “That is a violation of the Free Speech Clause,” she said of the ban. “And that’s just the first Constitutional provision that the school district is breaking because there are several other laws that they’re breaking here.” The attorney said she was “outraged” when she first heard about Arroyo-Castro’s suspension and compared it to the plight surrounding former football coach Joe Kennedy, who won a major Supreme Court victory in his battle to pray at the 50-yard line. Kennedy, too, lost his job but was inevitably vindicated by the high court. “You would think that because that case was so big that people would understand that the government doesn’t own you just because you work for them,” Russell said. “And, this situation, I think these facts are even easier than what was going on with Coach Kennedy. So I don’t understand really why the district feels the need to bully this teacher and try and get her to take down a crucifix when she has every right to have it on that wall.” As for Arroyo-Castro, she said fellow teachers have expressed surprise and some have been supportive. Ultimately, she said she “couldn’t really live” with herself if she had taken down the cross and complied. “I knew that I wasn’t doing anything wrong,” she added. Both Arroyo-Castro and Russell said there are no plans to back down from challenging the district. In the aforementioned demand letter, officials were asked to allow the educator to keep her cross at her workspace. “So far, the district has pushed back,” Russell said. “They do not agree with our position, which is totally fine, but we are trying to give them time to come to their senses. … If they don’t, we will sue them in federal court.” Arroyo-Castro echoed this sentiment and said she wants others to know such displays, from her view, do not go “against the Constitution.” “They’re using the Constitution against us, and it’s not true,” she said. “The Constitution was meant to protect religious liberty, not to hinder it.” A request for comment from the New Britain School District has not yet been returned. ***As the number of voices facing big-tech censorship continues to grow, please sign up for Faithwire’s daily newsletter and download the CBN News app to stay up-to-date with the latest news from a distinctly Christian perspective.*** Source link #Teacher #Suspended #Allegedly #Fired #Refusing #Remove #Crucifix Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  5. Student loans not affected by federal aid freeze Student loans not affected by federal aid freeze The White House is pausing federal grants and loans, according to a memo sent out Monday night, but the freeze will not impact student loans or financial aid for college. The freeze, which could affect billions of dollars in aid, noted an exception for Social Security and Medicare. The pause “does not include assistance provided directly to individuals,” according to the memo. The pause gives the White House time to review government funding for causes that don’t fit with President Donald Trump’s policy agenda, according to Matthew J. Vaeth, acting director of the White House Office of Management and Budget. The memo specifically cited “financial assistance for foreign aid, non-governmental organizations, DEI, woke gender ideology, and the green new deal.” What student aid may be affected The U.S. Department of Education said the freeze on federal aid will not affect Federal Pell Grants and student loans. It also has no bearing on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid for the upcoming year. “The temporary pause does not impact Title I, IDEA, or other formula grants, nor does it apply to Federal Pell Grants and Direct Loans under Title IV [of the Higher Education Act],” Education Department spokesperson Madi Biedermann said in a statement. In addition to the federal financial aid programs that fall under Title IV, Title I provides financial assistance to school districts with children from low-income families. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, or IDEA, provides funding for students with disabilities. The funding pause “only applies to discretionary grants at the Department of Education,” Biedermann said. “These will be reviewed by Department leadership for alignment with Trump Administration priorities.” The pause could affect federal work-study programs and the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, which are provided in bulk to colleges to provide to students, according to higher education expert Mark Kantrowitz. However, many colleges have already drawn down their funds for the spring term, so this might not impact even that aid, he said. It may still affect grants to researchers, which often include funding for graduate research assistantships, he added. Why the freeze caused confusion “While the memo says the funding pause does not include assistance ‘provided directly to individuals,’ it does not clarify whether that includes money sent first to institutions, states or organizations and then provided to students,” said Karen McCarthy, vice president of public policy and federal relations at the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. Most federal financial aid programs are considered Title IV funds “labeled for individual students,” and so would not be impacted by the pause, McCarthy said. But all other aid outside of Title IV is unclear at this time, she said: “We are also researching the impact on campus-based aid programs since they are funded differently.” More from Personal Finance: Here are key things to know before you file your taxes 62% of couples keep some money separate from each other ‘Phantom wealth’: The net worth of millennials has quadrupled “When you have programs that are serving 20 million students, there are a lot of questions, understandably,” said Jonathan Riskind, a vice president at the American Council on Education. “It is really, really damaging for students and institutions to have this level of uncertainty.” The American Council on Education’s president, Ted Mitchell, called on the Trump administration to rescind the memo. “This is bad public policy, and it will have a direct impact on the funds that support students and research,” he said. “The longer this goes on, the greater the damage will be.” Source link #Student #loans #affected #federal #aid #freeze Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]
  6. Novo Nordisk’s Ozempic wins FDA approval for chronic kidney disease Novo Nordisk’s Ozempic wins FDA approval for chronic kidney disease The Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday approved Novo Nordisk‘s Ozempic for patients with chronic kidney disease and diabetes, expanding the use of the wildly popular injection in the U.S. The drug is already widely used and covered to treat Type 2 diabetes. The FDA’s decision means Ozempic can now be used to reduce the risk of kidney disease worsening, kidney failure and death from cardiovascular disease in patients with both chronic kidney disease and diabetes. The decision could transform how doctors treat patients with the condition, which involves a gradual loss of kidney function and is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S. Around 37 million American adults are living with chronic kidney disease, according to Novo Nordisk. Diabetes is a key risk factor for kidney disease. Roughly 40% of Type 2 diabetes patients have the condition, which can cause additional sickness such as increased risk of cardiovascular problems and death, Novo Nordisk said. “All chronic kidney disease is progressive. It’s a year-on-year, relentless decline in renal function,” Stephen Gough, Novo Nordisk’s global chief medical officer, said in an interview, referring to the kidney’s ability to filter waste from the blood. He noted that when the condition progresses to the point of kidney failure — also known as end-stage kidney disease — patients require long-term dialysis treatments to remove waste from the blood, or a kidney transplant. Both are burdensome and death among patients with end-stage kidney disease is “very high,” particularly from cardiovascular disease, according to Gough. The approval also demonstrates that a blockbuster class of diabetes and weight loss drugs called GLP-1s have significant health benefits beyond regulating blood sugar and suppressing appetite. Ozempic reduced the risk of severe kidney outcomes — including kidney failure, reduction in kidney function, or death from kidney or heart causes — by 24% in diabetic patients with chronic kidney disease compared to a placebo, according to results of a late-stage trial that the approval was based on. In patients who took Ozempic, kidney function declined more slowly, the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack dropped 18% and the risk of death from any cause fell 20% compared with the placebo. Ozempic also cut the risk of cardiovascular-related deaths by 29%. “We know that, unfortunately, cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease just go hand in hand,” Gough said. He added that the major treatments patients typically receive when they have the earliest signs of chronic kidney disease aim to reduce cardiovascular risk factors by paying attention to blood pressure. The rate of serious adverse side effects was 49.6% in patients who took Ozempic, lower than the 53.8% seen in the group that received a placebo. There was a slightly higher rate of discontinuations among Ozempic patients due to gastrointestinal side effects commonly seen with GLP-1s, such as nausea and vomiting. EU regulators approved Ozempic for the same use in December. The Danish company ended the phase three trial in October, a year earlier than expected, in response to positive results. At the time, Novo Nordisk’s announcement caused shares of kidney dialysis companies to plummet about 20% in a single day. The trial, called FLOW, first started in 2019 and followed roughly 3,500 patients with diabetes and moderate to severe chronic kidney disease. “From my point of view as a doctor, you don’t get [diabetes, obesity, chronic kidney disease and cardiovascular disease] in isolation,” Gough said. “These illnesses, unfortunately, co-segregate. They cluster within the same individuals. So if you have a medicine that can target each of these co-morbidities in one injection, then you’re addressing what really matters to the patient” The approval comes after the Biden administration selected three of Novo Nordisk’s drugs with the active ingredient semaglutide for the second cycle of Medicare drug price negotiations. That includes Ozempic, its weight loss counterpart Wegovy and another diabetes treatment called Rybelsus. The FDA’s decision also comes as Novo Nordisk faces increased competition from Eli Lilly and tries to win expanded insurance coverage for its separate weight loss injection Wegovy. Last year, Wegovy won approval in the U.S. for slashing risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes. Novo Nordisk is also studying Wegovy as a potential treatment for fatty liver disease. 7. Medicaid, Head Start, health centers say they’re locked out of federal funding website Medicaid, Head Start, health centers say they’re locked out of federal funding website A wide range of organizations and agencies that depend on federal health department funds say they have been locked out of the online system responsible for tracking and depositing their money, in the wake of the White House’s move to freeze funding across the Trump administration. These include state Medicaid programs which have been unable to log into the Payment Management Services web portal, or PMS, run by the Department of Health and Human Services, which handles billions of dollars of payments every year. The website currently warns that due “to Executive Orders regarding potentially unallowable grant payments, PMS is taking additional measures to process payments. Reviews of applicable programs and payments will result in delays and/or rejections of payments.” A spokesperson for HHS did not immediately respond to a request for comment on why recipients have been locked out of the portal. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Tuesday that Medicaid recipients and others who directly receive federal funding will continue to receive it. “It does not affect individual assistance that’s going to Americans,” she said. She also insisted the funding pause is “temporary.” But other recipients of federal health dollars have also reported being locked out of the payment system, including Head Start early childhood education programs and community health centers. “My staff has confirmed reports that Medicaid portals are down in all 50 states following last night’s federal funding freeze. This is a blatant attempt to rip away health care from millions of Americans overnight and will get people killed,” Oregon Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden posted on X. “Multiple states locked out of Medicaid portal,” Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii tweeted. “This is a Trump shutdown, except this time it’s unlawful.” Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley said he was assured Medicaid would not be affected. “What the White House has told us just now is that Medicaid is not, categorically not, covered by this,” Hawley said. “In other words, there will be no interruption to Medicaid or Medicare or any grant that floats to individuals.” A spokesperson for the National Association of Medicaid Directors says they have formally sought guidance from the Trump administration to explain the interruption. Joann Alker of the Georgetown University Center for Children and Families called on the administration to issue a statement clarifying that Medicaid should not be affected, warning it is a “major crisis” as states look to draw down funding for the month. “Any pause in federal funding of Medicaid — the largest source of federal funding received by states — would be disastrous for states as they need to draw down federal funds to meet their financial obligations to the health care providers and health plans serving Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries,” Alker said. In a statement ahead of the lockout, HSS also announced that it would be reevaluating “all programs, regulations, and guidance to ensure Federal taxpayer dollars are not being used to pay for or promote elective abortion” following a previous executive order by President Trump. In a statement, the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association warned that health centers could face “significant disruption” to operations even with a “temporary funding pause.” “For many patients, Title X-funded health centers serve as their sole source of health care. The Title X family planning program is already chronically underfunded, and this executive action risks destabilizing a health provider network that is already operating under immense strain,” said Clare Coleman, president and CEO of the association. Although the White House’s Leavitt said direct payments to Americans won’t be affected, she did not specifically address which grant programs will survive the funding pause. Legal challenges to the freeze have already been filed by a coalition which includes the National Council of Nonprofits and the American Public Health Association, asking a federal judge for an emergency order to block the action from taking effect. This is a developing story and will be updated. Alexander Tin Alexander Tin is a digital reporter for CBS News based in the Washington, D.C. bureau. He covers federal public health agencies. 9. Some Garmin GPS watches are stuck in a blue triangle boot loop Some Garmin GPS watches are stuck in a blue triangle boot loop If you own a Garmin GPS watch, you may want to power it down for a while. Users on Reddit and Garmin’s forums (via The Verge) report that a botched software update is leaving the wearables in a “blue triangle” boot loop, putting them out of commission until further notice. A pinned message from the company on its forums reads, “We are aware of an issue causing some devices to be stuck on the start up screen or a blue triangle. To resolve this, press and hold the power button until the device turns off, then power it back on, and sync with the Garmin Connect app or Garmin Express.” However, the instructions also say customers should contact support if that doesn’t work. Engadget reached out to Garmin for further comment, and we’ll update this story if we hear back. Garmin Some crafty Redditors claim to have traced the issue to a file related to GPS functionality. Some reported that following Garmin’s reset instructions worked, while others said it was only temporary, with the issue returning later. The problem appears to affect various models, including the Forerunner, Venu, Fenix, Vivoactive and Epix lines. If your Garmin smartwatch has no problems (… so far), you may save yourself a headache by powering it down and waiting for an official solution from Garmin. If you’ve encountered the issue and want to roll the dice, this Reddit thread includes some unofficial — and untested by Engadget — fixes and workarounds. 10. Social Security Fairness Act beneficiaries may face lengthy wait Social Security Fairness Act beneficiaries may face lengthy wait More than 3.2 million people will see increased Social Security benefits, under a new law. However, individuals who are affected may have to wait more than a year before they see the extra money that’s due to them from the Social Security Fairness Act, the Social Security Administration said in an update on its website. “Though SSA is helping some affected beneficiaries now, under SSA’s current budget, SSA expects that it could take more than one year to adjust benefits and pay all retroactive benefits,” the agency states. The Social Security Fairness Act eliminates two provisions — known as the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset — that previously reduced Social Security benefits for certain beneficiaries who also had pension income provided from employment where they did not contribute Social Security payroll taxes. More from Personal Finance: New Social Security increases may trigger higher tax bills, Medicare premiums Why retirees may feel the 2025 Social Security COLA isn’t enough New Social Security benefit legislation worsens program’s funding woes Those provisions reduced benefits for certain workers including state teachers, firefighters and police officers; federal employees who are covered by the Civil Service Retirement System; and individuals who worked under a foreign social security system. The law affects benefits paid after December 2023. Consequently, affected beneficiaries will receive increases to their monthly benefit checks, as well as retroactive lump sum payments for benefits payable for January 2024 and after. The benefit increases “may vary greatly,” depending on an individual’s type of Social Security benefits and the amount of pension income they receive, according to the Social Security Administration. “Some people’s benefits will increase very little while others may be eligible for over $1,000 more each month,” the agency states. The Social Security Administration said it cannot yet provide an estimated timeline for when the benefit adjustments will happen. In the meantime, the agency is advising beneficiaries to update their mailing address and bank direct deposit information, if necessary. In addition, non-covered pension recipients may now want to apply for benefits, if they are newly eligible following the enacted changes. 11. Mark Cuban is in cash and wasn’t buying the dip in Monday’s slump Mark Cuban is in cash and wasn’t buying the dip in Monday’s slump It’s too early to know how DeepSeek’s apparent breakthrough on artificial intelligence will change the public markets, billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban told CNBC on Tuesday. Appearing on ” Halftime Report ,” Cuban said he has had a large portion of his investment portfolio in cash because of concern about tariffs and other policy uncertainty, and that Monday’s steep sell-off for markets was not enough to move him off the sidelines. “When yesterday hit, I certainly took a look and said, ‘Okay, is now the time to dive in and is this just an aberration.’ And I just don’t get that feel,” Cuban said. Cuban’s comments came one day after stocks tied to AI fell sharply, with chip giant Nvidia dropping nearly 17% and suffering the biggest ever one-day decline in market value by any public company. The sell-off came as investors grappled with the emergence of a new AI model from DeepSeek , which has touted its ability to build a cheaper and more efficient version of other popular AI programs. Nvidia and some other popular AI trades were rebounding on Tuesday , but Cuban said it was too soon to jump in and call the sell-off overblown. “I think there’s so much uncertainty still on DeepSeek. Is the information we got in terms of their cost to create the models accurate? It’s still too early to tell,” Cuban said. Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks who made his fortune as a software and internet startup founder during the dot-com *****, said the potential for cheaper AI models was good news for smaller companies. But he said the lack of recent initial public offerings of newer tech companies makes it difficult for everyday investors to take advantage of that. “I think what really changes is it’s not just a race to raise as much money as you can in order to be a player,” he said. 12. Call Of Duty 2025 — Everything We Know About Rumored ****** Ops 2 Sequel Call Of Duty 2025 — Everything We Know About Rumored ****** Ops 2 Sequel The Call of Duty series is an annual franchise, so it’s expected that Microsoft’s Activision division will launch a new Call of Duty this year, like it has every year since 2005. In fact, 2025 will mark 20 years in a row of Activision releasing a new Call of Duty game (the series debuted in 2003 but had no release in 2004). It’s still early days, and to be clear, Activision has not announced the new Call of Duty game that’s expected to release in 2025. But there have been a handful of leaks and rumors about Call of Duty 2025, including a rumor that it’s a sequel to ****** Ops 2 set in the 2030s. In this post, we’re rounding up everything we know, and what’s been rumored, about the next Call of Duty. What is Call of Duty 2025? If Insider Gaming‘s sources are correct, Call of Duty 2025 is a new ****** Ops game, a sequel to 2012’s ****** Ops II–set in the early 2030s. 2024’s Call of Duty game was also a ****** Ops game–****** Ops 6–and this would mark the first time ****** Ops games were released in back-to-back years. Specifically, Call of Duty 2025 is expected to pick up where ****** Ops II left off–that game was set in 2025. When will Call of Duty 2025 be released? If Activision and Microsoft keep to the standard formula, fans can expect Call of Duty 2025 to launch in October or November 2025. It is likely to be announced at least a few months before that, with Activision almost assuredly using Call of Duty: Warzone to tease the next game, as it’s done in the past. Will Call of Duty 2025 have a beta? Call of Duty 2025 is expected to have a pre-release multiplayer beta, as all recent entries in the series have. Now that Microsoft owns the franchise, fans can expect the beta to launch on all platforms at the same time, at least if the company sticks to the gameplan from ****** Ops 6. Previously, Call of Duty betas were held first on PlayStation due to a co-marketing deal between Activision and Sony. The ****** Ops 6 beta took place in August 2024, so it’s reasonable to assume the Call of Duty 2025 beta could take place in August 2025. Preorder Call of Duty 2025 While a new Call of Duty game coming out each year is one of the safest bets a person could make in the video game landscape, Call of Duty 2025 hasn’t been announced yet and thus isn’t available for preorder. If history serves as precedent, preorders for the game are likely to open around the time the game is officially announced. Call of Duty 2025 trailer information As of yet, Activision has not released any official trailers for Call of Duty 2025. Call of Duty 2025 platforms Activision has not announced the next Call of Duty, but it’s likely to show up for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has also alluded to bringing games to Nintendo Switch 2, but whether or not this will include the next Call of Duty is unknown. Will Call of Duty 2025 be on Game Pass? Microsoft put Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 on Game Pass at launch, and it’s expected the company will do the same for Call of Duty 2025. Call of Duty 2025 story, setting, and characters Insider Gaming reported that Call of Duty 2025 is a ****** Ops II sequel set in the early 2030s, picking up after the events of ****** Ops II. The ****** Ops storyline is full of twists and turns and wild political conspiracies, and it’s expected that the new Call of Duty would continue this trend if it is indeed a new ****** Ops game. 13. DeepSeek AI advance calls for rethink on ******** equities, investors say DeepSeek AI advance calls for rethink on ******** equities, investors say ******** artificial intelligence upstart DeepSeek shocked many investors and rattled the U.S. stock market, which has relied on gains from AI for the past two years. But now investors who have focused on China say DeepSeek is only one of many examples of China’s innovation prowess — and shows that the country’s battered stock market has been overlooked for too long. “******** stocks have been very unfairly valued just because of this overall geopolitical noise,” said Ben Harburg, MSA Capital Managing Partner and Core Values Alpha founder. “China is a much more formidable business and technology competitor than people have been led to believe — America is definitively not leading on innovation right now — it has yielded its lead to the ******** … across almost every key vertical,” Harburg continued. “China is building products that are perfect for digital natives.” Taking note Investors have begun to take note. U.S.-traded shares of major internet companies such as Alibaba and Baidu are up more than 1.5% since the start of the week. The iShares China Large-Cap ETF gained more than 1% on Monday, before pulling back from its gains during Tuesday’s session. Malcolm Dorson, head of emerging markets strategy and senior portfolio manager at Global X, said he has looked at ******** equity markets using Warren Buffett’s strategy: “be greedy while others are fearful.” The impact of DeepSeek didn’t come as much of a shock to Dorson, who has been bullish on ******** technology stocks since early 2024. “But we see our clients taking a closer look with these headlines reminding people that China is a global leader in various spaces in tech, including e-commerce, electric vehicles, solar energy,” Dorson said. Compared to Nvidia and other Magnificent Seven stocks that have been selling at lofty valuations, ******** growth stocks have been relatively undervalued. But ******** technology companies stand to benefit from a late-mover advantage in the tech space, in Harburg’s view. Combined with more central government stimulus measures, investors “should see significant upward movement in ******** stocks,” Harburg said. “China definitively, is kind of in a significant lull right now in terms of domestic consumption and domestic market,” Harburg noted. “But Pinduoduo , Alibaba , BYD , Xiaomi and EV makers — these are all global companies [with] international markets that are thriving. China is definitively building hardware that is the product of choice for all the next billion high growth consumer markets, be it Southeast Asia, Middle East and Africa, Latin America; ******** software, like TikTok, is dominating.” Trade rhetoric Although tariff uncertainties continue to weigh on sentiment on ******** stocks, President Trump’s trade rhetoric could end up being more aggressive than what ends up as law. “We believe the bark will be worse than the bite,” said Dorson. “The market is currently pricing in the worst. Similar to 2016, we believe the two sides will reach a deal in the middle, which will bring a relief rally and let investors focus on fundamentals again.” Larry Tentarelli, Blue Chip Daily Report chief technical strategist, is more cautious on China due to ongoing concerns regarding its struggling property market, but even he views the DeepSeek news as a positive sign for ******** equities “In the short term, this is definitely bullish, but I don’t know if it’s big enough to break out of the bear market,” Tentarelli said. “But China has turned a negative — restricted access to the U.S.’s [most advance AI processors] — into a positive, and it’s really caught the U.S. off guard.” Source link #DeepSeek #advance #calls #rethink #******** #equities #investors Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]

  16. One Of WoW’s Most Famous Pieces Of Cut Content Is Playable Today One Of WoW’s Most Famous Pieces Of Cut Content Is Playable Today One of World of Warcraft’s most famous pieces of cut content, the Karazhan Crypts, is finally playable today as dungeon. The new piece of endgame content is part of WoW’s more experimental Season of Discovery servers. WoW is filled with unused areas or places that were never fully fleshed out, and vanilla WoW’s Karazhan Crypts are one of them. It’s a dark, moody area below the tower of Karazhan (which itself wouldn’t actually become a raid until the game’s first expansion) in the original version of WoW that has long captured the imagination of players. Now, as part of a new content phase for WoW Classic’s current seasonal servers, the Karazhan Crypts have been transformed into a five-man dungeon for players to explore. As detailed by WoW Youtuber ******* (in partnership with Blizzard), the dungeon itself is unlike others players may be used to. Inspired by classic dungeon-crawling RPGs, the Karazhan Crypts are shrouded in a darkness that can only be dispelled with a magical torch. There’s no mini-map to rely on, so players will need to stick together as they explore the dark reaches of the crypt and encounter new horrors. In keeping with the “discovery” aspect of the season, players will want to keep an eye out for secrets inside the dungeon that may aid their adventuring party. It’s a dungeon designed for players who have already acquired some endgame gear, and the new loot found within the crypts will be comparable to gear earned from raids like Blackwing Lair and the Temple of Ahn’ Qiraj. Because of how powerful the gear found in the dungeon is, the Karazhan Crypts will be on a 24-hour lockout, allowing players to run it once per day. Blizzard originally teased the addition of the Karazhan Crypts back when Season of Discovery was first announced at BlizzCon 2023. However, it’s not the first new dungeon added to vanilla WoW as part of the season. Blizzard previously added ****** Fall Canyon, another mostly unused area of the game’s world, as a dungeon–one where players face off against the phantom of Grommash Hellscream himself. In addition to the new dungeon, Season of Discovery’s new content phase additionally revamps its infamous Naxxramas raid. Blizzard is already teasing another new piece of endgame content as well in the form of what looks to be a Scarlet Crusade-themed raid, though players will have to wait for more details. As for the modern version of WoW, its next big update will be focused on the goblins of Undermine, all while Blizzard works on the new player housing feature announced to be coming as part of the game’s next expansion. 21. There’s more market pain to come near term, says Canaccord Genuity There’s more market pain to come near term, says Canaccord Genuity Market volatility is likely to continue moving forward, according to Canaccord Genuity, and the S & P 500 could see more near-term pressure ahead as a result. Analyst Michael Welch said that because there are plenty of market-influencing events unfolding the rest of this week, with roughly 97 S & P 500 companies expected to report through Friday and Wednesday’s Federal Reserve interest rate decision, uncertainty is likely to persist. “Given the lack of oversold conditions in our indicators and the likelihood of heightened volatility due to the potential catalysts this week, we continue to expect some near-term downside for the SPX,” Welch wrote in a Tuesday note. The broad market index has pulled back nearly 1% so far this week. .SPX 1D mountain The S & P was slightly higher on Tuesday. The analyst also listed Thursday’s reading of the fourth-quarter U.S. gross domestic product and Friday’s personal consumption expenditures price index report as other important data points for the market this week. Artificial intelligence and overall market bellwether Nvidia plummeted almost 17% on Monday, dropping nearly $600 billion in market capitalization. The chip giant’s decline occurred amid a broader rout in the technology sector that saw the S & P 500 lose 1.5%. The sell-off was sparked by the emergence of ******** AI startup DeepSeek. The company unveiled a free open-source large language model last month, saying it took less than $6 million to build. On Monday, DeepSeek also unseated OpenAI’s ChatGPT as the most-downloaded free app in the U.S. on Apple’s App Store. The development spooked investors and raised questions around the amount of money tech giants in the U.S. have devoted toward AI. Welch added that Monday’s market moves were less of a broad sell-off and more of a rotation into other sectors. He said investors turned to value stocks and moved out of growth names, with the S & P 500 Value Index outperforming its growth counterpart by 460 basis points. The move away from momentum stocks, he noted, also benefited the S & P 500 Equal Weight index, which closed slightly higher on Monday. NVDA 5D mountain Nvidia stock. 25. Palestinians face worst fears in north Gaza Palestinians face worst fears in north Gaza Reuters Hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians have gone back to what remains of their homes in northern Gaza Adham Bartawi had hoped for the best when he set off back to his family home in the north of Gaza after more than a year – but he was shocked at what he found. “Half our house is gone,” the 31-year-old told the BBC from the ruins of where he used to live in the northern city of al-Zahra. “It looks like it was bulldozed – the living room is gone, the kitchen is gone, most of it is gone. The only thing remaining is two rooms and one bathroom… If I leave now they might be looted,” he said. Adham is one of the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who have made it back to the north since Israel allowed displaced residents to start to return on Monday. The return is a result of the ceasefire deal between ****** and Israel that is aimed at permanently ending the war that began when ****** attacked Israel on 7 October 2023. A United Nations official told the BBC there was a “massive, massive effort ahead” to ensure that key services were provided to those returning north. One man who had returned to his home in Jabalia told the BBC it was “not possible to describe” the destruction around him. “You’re speaking to me while I’m clearing a space to put up a tent… We are trying to manage ourselves and find a way to live here,” 48-year-old Imad Ali al-Zain said over the phone. “I was happy and chanting on the way back, but when I reached my home I was disappointed because of the disastrous scene in front of me. I wished I’d never come.” The UN estimates that about 70% of the Gaza Strip’s buildings have been damaged or destroyed since October 2023, with much of the worst destruction in the north. Sam Rose, acting director of the UN agency for ************ refugees (Unrwa) in Gaza, told the BBC the population in northern Gaza would likely “be doubling in the next few days”. “What they’re going back to, many of them, are scenes of complete devastation. They know before they travel that their homes are likely to be destroyed or severely damaged, but they want to go home anyway,” he said. “Since the ceasefire came into effect a week ago, basic aid supplies have been coming in, so we’re able to provide food, some water, basic shelter supplies, some monitoring of particularly vulnerable cases. But it’s a massive, massive effort ahead of us.” Watch: Gaza City mother reunites with daughter after 15 months apart Many more people are preparing to make the journey from south to north in the coming days, by foot or vehicle. Ihab Qraqeh, a telecoms worker who has been displaced since mid-October 2023, said he had waited to see how the first day of the return unfolded before setting off himself. “We sent some of our family members yesterday and now we are planning to go. We are waiting for the car to come so we can start packing and go,” he said. A man the BBC had spoken to on Monday who was preparing for the journey with his heavily pregnant wife said they had set off but turned back around. “It was too difficult for us. I was afraid that she would suffer complications. She’s eight months pregnant. So we came back [to wait at a relative’s home in central Gaza],” said Khalil Shabeer, 32. “Even using a car, the road feels infinite – the line of cars is endless when you look at it.” Additional reporting by Muath al-Khatib Source link #Palestinians #face #worst #fears #north #Gaza Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]
