  1. Ex-Federal Reserve adviser Rogers arrested for passing trade secrets to China Ex-Federal Reserve adviser Rogers arrested for passing trade secrets to China WASHINGTON (Reuters) -A former senior adviser to the U.S. Federal Reserve, John Harold Rogers, was arrested on charges he conspired to steal Fed trade secrets for the benefit of China, the Justice Department announced on Friday. Rogers, who worked as a senior adviser in the Fed’s division of international finance from 2010 until 2021, allegedly shared confidential information with ******** co-conspirators who worked for the intelligence and security apparatus of China and posed as graduate students. A judge ordered Rogers to be held until a detention hearing next Tuesday, according to a U.S. Attorney’s office spokesperson. Trusted news and daily delights, right in your inbox See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories. A Federal Reserve spokesman declined to comment. An attorney for Rogers did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A ******** Embassy spokesperson said the embassy was not familiar with the specifics of this case but added that “China is a country that upholds the rule of law.” The spokesperson added that China did not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. “We oppose any smear and attack on China with so-called ‘spy risks’,” the spokesperson added. The Fed’s international finance division is responsible for basic research, policy analysis, and reporting in the areas of foreign economic activity, U.S. external trade and capital flows, and developments in international financial markets and institutions, according to the U.S. central bank’s website. Starting in 2018, Rogers allegedly began soliciting confidential information including economic data and sensitive information about interest-rate deliberations, and then passed it on to co-conspirators while pretending to teach classes in China, according to the indictment. Rogers received payments for airfare, lodging and dining during his travel to China, and was offered a payment for a beach vacation, the indictment said. He is charged with conspiracy to commit economic espionage and with making false statements. 3. Canada ‘will stand up to a bully’, says Mark Carney after Trump tariffs announced Canada ‘will stand up to a bully’, says Mark Carney after Trump tariffs announced Mark Carney, the frontrunner to be the next ********* prime minister, has said his country is “going to stand up to a bully” after US President Donald Trump announced tariffs of 25% on Canada. Speaking exclusively to BBC Newsnight, 59-year-old Carney said Canada will “match dollar for dollar the US tariffs”. As well as levying a 25% tariff on ********* imports on Saturday, the White House has announced tariffs of 25% on Mexico and 10% on China. Carney, who announced his run for leader of Canada’s governing Liberal Party in January, is the former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England. He is currently one of five candidates in the running to succeed Justin Trudeau – and has so far secured the largest support base among Liberal MPs. The leadership race will conclude on 9 March. The winner will replace current Trudeau – who announced his intention to resign in January after nine years in office – both as prime minister and party leader. Canada is then required to hold an election on or before 20 October, with the Liberal party currently trailing their Conservative rivals in the polls. In response to the tariff announcement, Carney told Newsnight that “President Trump probably thinks Canada will cave in”. “But we are going to stand up to a bully, we’re not going to back down,” he said. “We’re united and we will retaliate.” The former Bank of England governor said the tariffs are “going to damage the US’s reputation around the world”. “They’re going to hit growth. They’re going to move up inflation. They’re going to raise interest rates,” he said. He added that it’s the “second time” in less than a decade that the US has “in effect, ripped up a trade agreement with its closest trading partner”. In 2020, towards the end of Donald Trump’s first term, the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (UCMCA) came into effect – effectively an update to Nafta, the agreement between the three countries which had been in place since the 1990s. Economists have suggested the newly imposed tariffs could have a devastating immediate impact on Canada’s economy – while also leading to higher prices for Americans. Tariffs are a central part of Trump’s economic vision. He sees them as a way of growing the US economy, protecting jobs and raising tax revenue. Outgoing Prime Minister Trudeau has said Canada’s response will be “forceful” and “immediate” to the new tariffs. Trump said on Friday that ********* oil would be hit with lower tariffs of 10%, which would take effect later, on 18 February. The president also said he planned to impose tariffs on the European Union in the future, saying the bloc had not treated the US well. Jim Nantz’s bid holds up and he now owns the 2012 GMC Yukon XL of the world’s No. 1 player Jim Nantz’s bid holds up and he now owns the 2012 GMC Yukon XL of the world’s No. 1 player PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Jim Nantz will be driving around town in Scottie Scheffler’s old car. Nantz’s $50,000 bid for Scheffler’s 2012 GMC Yukon XL held up and the car arrived at his home, which overlooks Pebble Beach Golf Links and with its own replica of the famed par-3 seventh, on Jan. 27. “I figure just driving this SUV to the golf course should lower my handicap by at least five shots,” Nantz wrote in a text to Golfweek. Scottie Scheffler’s GMC Yukon has a new owner in Jim Nantz and home in his garage in Pebble Beach, California. “He finally got it,” Scheffler said with a laugh on Friday when told after the round. “It was sitting at our golf course for a while. But, yeah, it’s fun. Both of us got together to help a great cause and he got an extra car out of it.” Scheffler donated the car to Triumph Over Kid *******, a charity near and dear to his heart, and it was auctioned by Heritage Auctions. Golfweek was the first to share the story of how Nantz established the starting bid at a fundraising event attended by the Scheffler family in Houston. Scottie said it was his dad who suggested they give the car to TOKC, which was started by James Ragan, a friend from junior golf who died from osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone *******, to auction it and raise money. “James was a buddy that I grew up with playing golf. He passed away due to ******* but he started this foundation,” Scottie said. “It’s something we’re very passionate about.” Scheffler signed the dash and the passenger side (on the air bag panel) with a “First Owned Vehicle” inscription and the second signature appears on the right visor (vanity mirror cover). Scheffler had driven the same car his father, Scott, bought after the family’s car broke down more than a decade ago in Augusta, Georgia, at the 2012 Masters and they needed to get back home to Dallas. The Schefflers ended up buying a new car at Masters Buick GMC on Washington Road in Augusta, just down the street from Augusta National, where Scottie has since stamped his place in the game with not one but two Green Jackets. (“It’s got a Masters GMC logo on the back of it,” Scottie said of the car.) 7. I used the OpenAI Operator rival Browser Use and it’s impressive, but takes some technical skill to use I used the OpenAI Operator rival Browser Use and it’s impressive, but takes some technical skill to use OpenAI showed off its first AI Agent, Operator, last week, but it already has a scrappy competitor offering an AI tool called Browser Use that can complete tasks online for you. This Computer-Using Agent (CUA) can write, search, click buttons, and copy information from websites without you needing to touch the mouse or keyboard and without the $200-a-month ChatGPT Pro subscription. Browser Use is actually free, at least if you’re willing and able to spend some time playing with API code. I’m not very code-literate, but I naively thought I knew enough of how GitHub works to use the API version. Hours of sifting through documentation, tweaking settings, and watching examples later, I decided this would need a deeper level of coding knowledge than I have, let alone the average person browsing the web. Happily, for me, Browser Use just debuted a cloud version that employs OpenAI’s own GPT-4o model. It cuts out a lot of the heavy technical lifting and streamlines things into a more familiar chat format without any extra work. It has its limitations and costs $30, but after my inept API mess, it felt like a bargain. And even in this (still obviously unfinished) form, you still need to put some effort into engineering prompts and negotiating how the AI functions. The most limiting aspect is that you can only issue one prompt before having to start a new interaction. Despite the text box, you can’t respond to what the AI does and refine your request. Buying AI (Image credit: Screenshots from Browser Use) With everything set up, I put Browser Use through a few real-world tests. First up was a price comparison task. I entered the prompt: “Navigate to Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart and search for ‘MacBook Air M2’. Extract the product name, price, and stock availability from the first five results on each site. Compare the prices and identify the lowest one. If discounts or coupons are present, record them. Provide a final summary with the best deal and where to buy it.” It did the job well, though it didn’t find any hidden discounts or coupons. Still, the fact that I could automate price tracking across multiple sites was pretty exciting. That said, a continuing issue for any agent like this comes when a website wants to check that you’re human. Browser Use has a button that lets you take over whenever you want, but it will also alert you when there’s a need. You can prove your humanity and then hit resume to let the AI take over again. (Image credit: Screenshots from Browser Use) Fly AI (Image credit: Screenshots from Browser Use) Next came a travel planning task with the prompt: “Search for a round-trip flight from New York to London on Dec 15, 2025 on British Air. Select the cheapest option and extract details, including price, airline, and departure time.” Browser Use delivered, pulling up a British Airways flight at $750, complete with departure time and other relevant details. This could be incredibly useful for people who book a lot of travel, especially if you automate it to check for price drops regularly. Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. Fair weather AI friend (Image credit: Screenshots from Browser Use) Finally, I tested out weather prediction and planning with the prompt: “Check the 7-day weather forecast for New York City on weather.com and summarize temperature trends, rain chances, and any severe weather warnings and then suggest how to dress for it.” Weather is one of the most popular uses for voice assistants, so I wanted to see how the AI handled a more complex request in that vein. It did very well, not only extracting the information from the forecast but suggesting which days to wear a light coat and which days I should “insulate with a warm coat and scarf, as it will be chilly with low rain chance.” Power trip The key difference between the two is accessibility. Browser Use is like a Swiss Army knife for developers. It has the flexibility to do almost anything within a browser, but you need to know how to use the tools. You can dig into the code, tweak it, and mold it to your exact needs. If a feature is missing, nothing’s stopping you from adding it. Browser Use, being open-source, also has an active developer community constantly refining it. That means if you run into issues, there are forums and GitHub discussions where you can likely find answers. OpenAI’s Operator, on the other hand, is like hiring a butler. It does a lot for you but within certain constraints. Operator’s strength is its integration with OpenAI’s broader AI ecosystem, giving it access to proprietary models that can make more nuanced decisions. However, you’re locked into OpenAI’s pricing structure and limited customization options. Browser Use isn’t perfect. Even its cloud version demands some patience. You need to craft your prompts carefully, brace yourself for troubleshooting, and occasionally start over. The cloud version may make up for some of this later, but for now, the limits of not being able to edit or respond within the conversation put hard limits on its otherwise flexible nature. And the speed can be frustrating as well. Check out a video of my second test; this is four times the speed of the actual process. Right now, Browser Use is best suited for people who enjoy tinkering, such as developers, researchers, and automation geeks who don’t mind getting their hands dirty. If you’re willing to put in the effort, you’ll get a powerful, flexible tool that costs way less than its competition. But if you’d rather not spend your weekend wrestling with configuration files, Operator may be the more forgiving option. Either way, web automation is ready for a *****. 8. Leganes lose skipper, miss penalty in horror night Leganes lose skipper, miss penalty in horror night A first-half red card for captain Sergio González proved decisive for Leganes as their recent good run ground to a halt in 1-0 home loss to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga. Leganes had not lost since before Christmas in a five-game run that included a win at home over Atletico Madrid and a point away at Athletic Bilbao. But they were on the back foot for much of the first half on Friday and their fortunes were hit seconds before half-time when González pulled down ****** Nteka on the edge of the box and was shown a straight red. The big centre back has one of the best disciplinary records in La Liga this season, with only two yellow cards in 24 games, and the award was harsh. It allowed Rayo to push further forward in the second half and the winner came 13 minutes from time through Pathé Ciss. The Senegal international needed two attempts to score in a goalmouth scramble but hit the target as Rayo extended their unbeaten league run to eight matches. There was last-minute drama when the referee awarded a penalty to Leganes but although Valentin Rosier followed up to score after Augusto Batalla saved from Miguel de la Fuente, the referee demanded the kick be retaken. Hero Batalla saved again to guarantee all three points for Rayo that lifted them to sixth, while Leganes are 16th. Reporting mistakes helps us improve the experience.Generate Key Takeaways By Jack Queen (Reuters) – Donald Trump said on Friday that any collective bargaining agreements reached with federal workers within 30 days of his inauguration will not be approved, the latest salvo in the U.S. president’s bid to remake the federal workforce. In a memo addressed to the heads of all executive departments and agencies, Trump said former U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration purposefully finalized collective bargaining agreements with federal employees in its final days “in an effort to harm my administration by extending its wasteful and failing policies beyond its time in office.” Trusted news and daily delights, right in your inbox See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories. It was not immediately clear how many agreements would be affected by the new policy, which refers to them as “lame-duck collective bargaining agreements.” Collective bargaining agreements are deals between unions and their employees that outline working conditions, pay and other policies. The move comes as President Donald Trump embarks on a massive makeover of the U.S. government, firing and sidelining hundreds of civil servants in his first steps toward downsizing the bureaucracy and installing more loyalists. The memo cites a U.S. Department of Education collective bargaining agreement reached three days before Trump took office that “generally prohibits the agency from returning remote employees to their offices.” Trump has signed an executive order that would require federal employees to work in-office five days a week, reversing a remote working trend that took off in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Eagle Smith confident of winning Super Bowl rematch Eagle Smith confident of winning Super Bowl rematch The Kansas City Chiefs may have thwarted the Eagles’ Super Bowl hopes two years ago but Philadelphia receiver DeVonta Smith says he has no problem setting aside his nerves before their rematch. Eagles fans are still hurting from their 38-35 defeat in Super Bowl 57, where Smith had seven receptions for 100 yards as Philadelphia let a 10-point half-time lead slip away. While he said he has replayed the game in his mind many times, Smith is keeping his cool ahead of his home Super Bowl at the Superdome in New Orleans, having grown up in the nearby town of Amite City, Louisiana. “You think about it all the time, especially you know playing them again, playing the same team, you think about it,” Smith told reporters. “It’s the next team trying to stop us from getting to our end goal.” Smith did not participate in Friday’s practice, with the injury report citing his hamstring, but he assured reporters he would be in good shape for the February 9 championship. “As long as we go out there, play our game, continuing to play football the way we’ve been playing it, we should come out successful,” said Smith. Meanwhile, a congressional group will visit New Orleans on Monday to inspect security ahead of the Super Bowl following a New Year’s Day attack in the city that killed 14 people and injured scores more, the congressman leading the delegation said. The bipartisan group will visit the site of the attack in the city’s popular French Quarter, where an ISIS-inspired US Army veteran rammed a truck into a crowd of revellers in the early hours of January 1. The lawmakers will then tour Caesars Superdome, the site of the NFL’s championship game, to observe security preparations and joint efforts by all levels of law enforcement to ensure public safety. 18. RFK Jr.’s Stunning Claim About ****** People And Vaccines Sparks Concern From Medical Experts RFK Jr.’s Stunning Claim About ****** People And Vaccines Sparks Concern From Medical Experts From COVID-19 conspiracy theories to confusion on the facts about Medicare and Medicaid to refusing to say that vaccines aren’t linked to autism, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s confirmation hearings this week on Capitol Hill were anything but smooth for someone who is hoping to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. While his history of anti-vaccine remarks was a major talking point throughout the hearings, his beliefs were also front and center during a heated exchange in which Sen. Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) brought up a comment that Kennedy once made about vaccinations and the ****** community. In 2021, Kennedy had said, “We should not be giving ****** people the same vaccine schedule that’s given to whites, because their immune system is better than ours.” Alsobrooks asked Kennedy to explain what he meant by that remark, and he went on to reference a “series of studies” while saying research shows that “******* need fewer antigens.” (For the record, experts say that this is not true.) “Right now, how vaccine schedules are tailored is based on things like your age, your exposure risk, if you have other chronic underlying health conditions ― but race isn’t one of them, and there isn’t research that suggests that it should be,” Joel Bervell, a recent medical graduate and medical myth-buster on social media, told HuffPost. What especially bothered Bervell about Kennedy’s exchange with Alsobrooks was the fact that he doubled down on his comment from 2021. Kennedy could have used this as an opportunity to admit that he needs to do more research and understand the vaccine schedule, “but instead, he defended what he said, which I think, for me, that’s where the problem lies in,” Bervell told HuffPost. “Not necessarily the fact of the misinformation is out there, but the fact that he wasn’t willing to at least confront it or admit that onstage.” Below, experts like Bervell share their concerns about Kennedy’s statement and how it reflects a larger problematic picture: Kennedy’s comment can be considered ‘scientific racism,’ experts say. “In medicine, in science, we know that race is a social construct, meaning that you can’t look at someone’s genes and identify what race they are,” Bervell said. That means differences in vaccine timelines just don’t make scientific sense. “The comment that [Kennedy] made about the vaccine schedule, it’s basically scientific racism, which has been debunked,” Dr. Oni Blackstock, a primary care and **** physician who is the founder and executive director of Health Justice, a racial and health equity consulting company, told HuffPost. “He’s really perpetuating this false belief that ****** people are somehow biologically different from white people and, in that way, justifying differential and ultimately unequal treatment for ****** people versus white people,” Blackstock added. “By saying that, he was putting on one of the larger stages in health care this notion that race-based medicine should still exist, when that’s actually what many scientists recently have been trying to root out,” Bervell said. Race-based medicine and scientific racism has led to undertreatment of ****** patients, dismissal of pain and even death, Blackstock stressed. Both experts pointed to real-life examples of this, like the false belief that ****** people have better-functioning kidneys than white people. This made it harder for ****** people to get the treatment they needed, like kidney transplants, according to Bervell. And this thought pattern isn’t from some faraway time ― a medical equation that reinforced this bias wasn’t changed until 2021, Bervell said. What’s more, during the 1793 yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia, ****** people were believed to be resistant to yellow fever, which was not true and led to high mortality rates among ****** people, Blackstock explained. “The importance of understanding the problem with the myths is that they can literally lead to regulations being written into medicine that treat populations differently just based on race,” Bervell said. “It can actually change the care that people receive.” While it’s easy to look at a particular viewpoint as a one-off, medical racism has real-world consequences that irresponsible comments can make worse. Promoting debunked beliefs “distracts us from really doing the work that we need to do, which is dismantling systemic racism in health care and ensuring that everyone has equitable access to preventive care and treatments that they need,” Blackstock added. Cabinet nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s comment about vaccines in the ****** community has medical experts worried. Anna Moneymaker via Getty Images Such stances may lead to more mistrust in the health care system. “One thing that is also kind of strange about him [Kennedy] is he’s someone who for a long time has said that he doesn’t support vaccines,” Bervell said. “Apparently, now he’s changed his mind, but for a long time he said he hasn’t supported vaccines, and then he’s also saying that ****** people should get a different vaccine schedule. So you have to wonder, what is your goal in saying that if you don’t even believe in vaccines?” Bervell said comments like those from Kennedy can sow vaccine hesitancy in the ****** population, which is dangerous and can erode trust in evidence-based medicine. It’s not the first time that this has happened, either, Blackstock added. In 2021, Kennedy produced a documentary called “Medical Racism: The New Apartheid,” which Blackstock said promoted misinformation about health and vaccines to the ****** community, along with other marginalized groups. “It’s interesting how some of his efforts have been focused on taking advantage of [and] exploiting the mistrust that some in the ****** community have around vaccines and the health care system because of structural racism and medical racism,” Blackstock said. With misinformation and scare tactics rampant on social media, misinformation from government leaders will only make it harder to tell what’s real and what’s fake in medicine. Trust needs to be paramount for health care as an institution, Bervell said. “The trust is already eroded in health care,” Bervell explained. “We need to have someone that is going to work with scientists, researchers, doctors that are on the ground seeing these problems every day, not someone that’s in an ivory tower watching from above without understanding of what’s actually happening on the ground.” Experts say this rhetoric aligns with messaging from Donald Trump. Blackstock stressed that while such false beliefs are very problematic, they track with much of the messaging from Donald Trump and his new presidential administration. “It echoes some of the rhetoric that [Trump] has shared around eugenics and immigrants,” Blackstock said. “He’s talked about immigrants having ‘bad genes’ or ‘poisoning the blood of our country.’ It just speaks to this idea of racial purity or genetic purity, and this false idea that certain groups of people are inherently inferior or predisposed to certain behaviors because of their genetics.” And, again, race is a social construct and does not equal genetic differences. “It’s just really shocking that in the year 2025 we are still dealing with these beliefs being propagated that have been around for several centuries that have been used to justify slavery, used to justify inequitable treatment, used to justify forced sterilization,” Blackstock said. Blackstock added that she thinks individuals get away with this kind of rhetoric because people become accustomed to outlandish comments and bad behavior. “But we need to really flag this and say this is really dangerous and really concerning rhetoric that can have real health implications,” Blackstock said. 20. England fuming after controversial India win in T20 International series England fuming after controversial India win in T20 International series Cheating claims have surfaced after India claimed a 15-run victory against England in their fourth T20 International in Pune. England was left fuming after Harshit Rana — who claimed three wickets in his controversial appearance — was allowed to come into the action as a concussion substitute. The victory has given India an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series, but a storm has erupted with great of the game all questioning why Rana was allowed to play. Put in to bat on Friday, India overcame Saqib Mahmood’s three-wickets-in-an-over burst to post a competitive 9-181 following half-centuries by Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube. But allrounder Dube was hit on the helmet by a Jamie Overton bouncer in the second last ball of the Indian innings, and then replaced by seamer Rana, despite it not being a like-for-like replacement (as the concussion substitute rules’ mandate). Cricket legend Kevin Pietersen slamming was scathing of the decision. Camera IconHarshit Rana replaced Shivam Dube but many think he should not have been out there. Credit: Getty Images “If you ask anybody in the world whether Harshit Rana is a like-for-like replacement, I’m not sure anyone would say that they are,” Pietersen said. “He gets an extra bit of pace. He is a tall, bustling fast bowler. I can tell you something now, that England dressing room will not be happy. Jos Buttler wasn’t happy when he got out because of the substitution. It’s not like for like.” Other England greats also weighed in. Former captain Michael Vaughan called it straight out, saying they had “replaced a batter with a bowler”, while another former England captain Alastair Cook said the decision “makes no sense to me whatsoever”. “He should not be allowed to bowl there,” Cook fumed **** Sports. While Dube is considered an allrounder, he rarely bowls. And England captain Jos Buttler was livid as he made that point after the match. “It’s not a like-for-like replacement,” Buttler told reporters. “Either Shivam Dube has put on about 25mph with the ball, or Harshit has really improved his batting. “There was no consultation (with us). That’s something I was thinking as I came out to bat – who is Harshit on for? “They said he is a concussion replacement, which I obviously disagreed with. It is not a like-for-like replacement. They said that the match referee had made the decision. We had no say in it or any part of it. But we’ll ask Javagal (Srinath) some questions just to get some clarity around it. “Like I said, it was not the whole reason why we did not win the match. We had our chances to win the game which we could have still taken. But I’d like to have a bit more clarity on that.” Wisden editor Lawrence Booth said on social media that “England should have won that game regardless”. “Allowing Harshit Rana to be a like-for-like replacement for Shivam Dube has opened a giant can of worms for future concussion substitutes,” he said. And sports editor Vikrant Gupta said: “More than a Concussion Sub, Harshit Rana qualified as an Impact player; and we all know impact players aren’t allowed in T20 internationals. India won. But it all didn’t really add up honestly. Chasing 9-181, England were 166 all out with two deliveries left in their innings. Rana returned the figures of 3-33. “When Dube came back, two overs into the chase, I was told (about being the concussion substitute),” Rana told the broadcasters. “I have been waiting for this moment to prove myself,” he added, of his “dream debut”. England fast bowler Saqib also impressed on debut as he began with a three-wicket maiden over to rattle India at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium. India opener Sanju Samson fluffed his pull shot, No.3 Tilak Varma perished at deep third leg and captain Suryakumar Yadav was caught at short mid-on, prolonging his lean patch in the series. Abhishek Sharma (29) and Rinku Singh (30) propped up India before the left-right combination of Dube and Pandya counter-attacked during their 87-run partnership. Pandya and Dube smashed identical 53s but India managed only three runs from the eventful last over from Overton, losing three wickets in the process. Phil Salt (23) and Ben Duckett (39) milked 32 runs from the first three overs of India’s seam bowling, prompting Suryakumar to employ spin from both ends. Thanks to their unbridled aggression, England were 1-62 after the first six powerplay overs compared to India’s 3-47. But India struck back through spin as Ravi Bishnoi (3-28) dismissed Duckett and Jos Buttler in his successive overs, while Axar Patel removed Salt. Harry Brook (51) hit Rana for back-to-back sixes en route to a 25-ball fifty but Varun Chakravarthy turned the match on its head, claiming two wickets in his final over. Brook fell attempting a scoop shot against the spinner and, two ****** later, Brydon Carse was snared at deep square leg as India tightened their grip on the contest. Bear Discovered Under Evacuated Altadena Home Too **** to Tranquilize: ‘Not an Option’ A family in Altadena, Calif., nearly had a grizzly run-in with an unexpected visitor when they returned to their evacuated home. Last week, homeowner Samy Arbid was informed by a utility company that power couldn’t be restored to his home because a very large bear had been found in the crawl space where they needed to work. Arbid, along with his neighbors, had evacuated his home due to the deadly Eaton fire. “I think he was scared,” Arbid told local CBS outlet KCAL News. Related: Man Survives Attack by ****** Bear in California Foothills While on a Run California Department of Fish and Wildlife 525-pound bear found in evacuated home in California California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) was dispatched “to quickly capture and relocate the bear to the nearest suitable habitat,” the agency said in a Facebook post. It took a team of eight CDFW employees nearly 24 hours to remove the “massive, 525-pound adult male bear” from his hiding place. CDFW added that “after assessing the crawlspace and size of bear, it became clear that chemical immobilization of the bear was not an option.” CDFW Environmental Scientist Kevin Howells, along with other experts, “determined a bear trap placed near the crawlspace opening would be the best decision given the situation.” “They went to Stater Bros. and bought some rotisserie chicken and sardines and tomato sauce, apples and peanut butter, all kinds of stuff. They made a feast for him,” Arbid told KCAL. The food worked like a charm and “within minutes of placing the trap,” the bear emerged from underneath the house and “walked in and triggered the trap door.” Related: Rescue Bears Treated to a Fancy, Custom Meal Made by a Pro Chef to Celebrate Acing Hibernation (Exclusive) Barry the Bear, as he’s known by locals, was then “transported in the trap into Angeles National Forest and given a ******** check, GPS-collared and measured before being safely released just after midnight,” the CDFW stated. However, billionaire and entrepreneur Mark Cuban saw things differently. Don’t Miss: On Bluesky, Cuban likened Trump’s action to what occurs following a business acquisition. “Trump is doing what you do after you acquire a company,” Cuban wrote. “Crazy, I know. But reality. The Dir of NIH should reach out to DOGE and offer to bring them in to remove inefficiencies. There are always some, and the Director knows what they are. DOGE gets a win. Clinical trials for new treatments are also being delayed, which could be life-threatening for patients waiting on experimental medicines. Princeton neuroscientist Sam Wang was blunt on Bluesky, writing, “I cannot stress enough the damage this will do to people and U.S. supremacy in research.” The consequences could go beyond short-term setbacks, endangering the 34% decrease in ******* death rates since 1991.
