I spent a lot of this puzzle drifting off, first thinking about what links all these names – 1970s sit-coms? Elvis Presley hangers-on? Eventually, I decided they were all first names that were also words for other things. They all sound like very solid trustworthy names, too. I wish I knew someone called CHUCK, I bet they’d be excellent.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 starts later this week, offers bonuses for the full game
Capcom has shared details on a second open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds, due to start later this week.
Open Beta Test 2 will be available across PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam, and will take place over the next two weekends – February 7-10, and February 14-17.
“Ahead of the game’s full release on February 28, 2025, we held an open beta test in November 2024,” Capcom says. “In response to requests from players who were unable to participate the first time or simply wish to play again, we’ve decided to hold a second open beta test.”
The second open beta will introduce players to Arkveld, the game’s flagship monster, and adds a high difficulty slaying quest for expert players who want to try fighting it.
It also adds Gypdceros, a bird wyven that’s made appearances throughout the Monster Hunter series and returns for Wilds.
A Training Area will also be introduced in Open Beta Test 2, letting players practice with the various weapons on offer. Players will automatically revive if they faint in this area.

Private lobbies and a single-player mode will also be present in the beta, allowing players to either join up with specific friends or explore the world solo.
All the content from the first Open Beta Test from November will also be included in the second test, including the character creator, the Story Trial and the Doshaguma hunt.
Players who take part in Open Beta Test 2 will receive a special Bonus Pendant – the same one available for participating in the first open beta – as well as an OBT 2 Bonus Item Pack offering 54 consumable in-game items.

Daisy, an AI grandma, wastes scammers’ time with small talk about scones, knitting, and nostalgia for 40 minutes at a time.
O2’s experiment proves AI can disrupt fraudsters by keeping them on pointless, never-ending calls.
Future versions of Daisy could feature different accents and personalities to further frustrate scammers.
Daisy, an AI-powered bot built to annoy scammers, was announced two months ago – and now O2 has released some examples of the AI grandma in action.
Scammers can waste your time even if they don’t take your money, but O2 has proven that Daisy (or dAIsy) can mess with **** artists just as well as they mess with others. Daisy loves reminiscing about the good old days, and she’ll happily waste a fraudster’s time talking about scones instead of handing over personal banking details. Instead of just blocking fraudulent calls, Daisy picks up, engages, and keeps scammers on the line, frustrating them with a never-ending stream of dithering small talk.
O2, a British telecommunications provider, developed Daisy at the end of last year to demonstrate how artificial intelligence could be used to fight back against phone fraud and it has proven to be quite successful since. The bot was trained using real scam call data, so it recognizes the tricks scammers use to manipulate their victims. But instead of falling for their tactics, Daisy responds with an expertly crafted mix of confusion, politeness, and sheer time-wasting. When a scammer tries to convince her to download a malicious program, she might spend five minutes looking for her glasses, then another ten reminiscing about how her grandson usually helps her with “all this newfangled technology.” By the time she’s asking whether they prefer biscuits or pastries, the scammer is already losing patience, and it’s 40 minutes later.

One of the calls O2 shared features a scammer attempting to convince Daisy that her computer is full of viruses. The fraudster, expecting an easy mark, instead finds himself stuck on the line with a woman who can’t seem to figure out where her Internet Explorer icon is. “Oh dear, I see something here that says ‘Save As’—does that help, dear?” she asks sweetly. When the scammer finally snaps that her “profession is bothering people,” she responds with an innocent, “Oh, I wouldn’t want to bother anyone. I just thought we were having a nice chat!”
O2 deployed Daisy into the wild, planting fake contact numbers on websites that scammers often target. Once the calls started rolling in, Daisy went to work, engaging fraudsters in conversations that led absolutely nowhere. Some scammers eventually caught on and realized they were speaking to an AI bot, but not before wasting a lot of time that they could have spent targeting real victims. In some cases, scammers even passed Daisy’s number around their call centers, each one trying and failing to get useful information out of her.
In a world where scammers operate at an industrial scale, wasting their time is more than just a minor inconvenience; it’s a real disruption to their business model. The more time they spend talking to Daisy, the less time they have to **** actual people. Even if Daisy doesn’t single-handedly bring down the scamming industry, she does her bit and can help raise awareness of how common it is for scammers to try and trick people.
O2 hasn’t mentioned any plans to roll Daisy out on a larger scale, but the experiment has proven that AI has the potential to be a powerful tool in combating fraud. Future versions of Daisy could include different accents, personalities, or even local slang to make her even harder to detect as an AI. Until then, we’ll have to settle for the idea of an AI grandmother wasting scammer time, armed with nothing but a warm demeanor and an endless supply of off-topic anecdotes.

Bank of England to resume rate cuts amid murky outlook
The Bank of England is widely expected to cut interest rates on Thursday, amid a complex backdrop of a tepid domestic growth outlook, an upcoming hike in taxes paid by businesses and U.S. President Donald Trump’s market-rattling tariff threats.
As of Wednesday morning, Money markets were pricing in a 98% probability of a quarter-point rate cut at the February meeting, which would take the Bank rate to 4.5%. The BOE opted to hold at its previous gathering in December, citing “elevated” services inflation of 5% and a higher-than-expected headline print of 2.6% in November. That rate has since cooled to 2.5%, while services inflation dropped to a 33-month low of 4.4%.
Since January, traders have ramped up their bets on the total number of BOE rate cuts likely to take place during 2025. Where at the start of the year only two trims were expected, economists and prominent business voices including the head of British bank Lloyds, Charlie Nunn, have said they anticipate three trims. Markets are meanwhile pricing more than 80 basis points’ worth of cuts by December, suggesting four reductions could be a possibility.
Those bets have built on the back of several data surprises, including weaker-than-expected retail sales data and disappointing November growth.
Closely watched on Thursday will be the vote split among the nine members of the Monetary Policy Committee — with a unanimous or near-unanimous decision suggesting a bias toward easing — as well as the BOE’s updated growth and inflation projections.
The U.K. economy stagnated in the third quarter, and the BOE has already forecast that the final three months of last year also showed no growth.
Any downgrade to the BOE’s 2025 growth projections, or to its outlook for inflation to hit 2.7% in the fourth quarter of 2025 and ease to 2.2% across 2026, will be seen as support for the doves.
Uncertainty ahead
Two upcoming major developments could complicate the Bank’s forecasting, which BOE Governor Andrew Bailey is likely to be questioned on.
The first is how the central bank now views any potential inflationary impact from the fiscal reforms announced by the U.K. government in October, which include a significant hike in the tax that businesses face on payrolls. A survey by the British Chambers of Commerce published January said some firms were planning price rises as a result of higher costs.
The second question is how the U.K. will fare amid Trump’s volatile trade policy and the start of his ****-for-tat trade war with China, which is currently tamer than originally feared. Trump has threatened to slap tariffs on imports from the U.K. and European Union, but his delay of duties on Canada and Mexico has suggested other countries may be able to negotiate their way out of the fight.
It has also been suggested that the U.K. could benefit from wider trade disputes with the U.S. due to its more balanced trade relationship with the world’s biggest economy, allowing for an increase in U.K. investment and new trade opportunities.
“If ******** goods find their way to the continent and into the U.K., and exert a downward pressure on prices, it gives the [European Central Bank] and the BOE more scope to lower interest rates more aggressively than markets are anticipating this year, especially as growth is expected to weaken over the coming quarters,” Dan Boardman-Weston, chief executive officer and chief investment officer of BRI Wealth Management, told CNBC’s “Street Signs” on Tuesday.
That is likely to reaffirm the monetary policy divergence between the BOE and the ECB — which markets view as likely to cut by a whole percentage point this year — and the U.S. Federal Reserve, seen trimming by a half-point at most.
Anthony Karaminas, global head of sub-advised fixed income at SEI, said that the U.K.’s situation of “stagflation-lite” — economic stagnation combined with above-target inflation — was a challenge for the BOE as it “seeks to support economic activity while also adhering to its explicit inflation mandate.”
“Looking ahead, sticky inflation might limit Governor Bailey’s ability to cut rates much further,” Karaminas said in emailed comments.
It the central bank presses ahead with a swift pace of easing, the U.K. government bond market “could suffer a credibility penalty in the form of a significantly higher term premium,” he said, adding this would limit the scope of the government to spend to boost the economy at a time when it “desperately needs a dose of productivity-driven growth.”
U.K. borrowing costs spiked in January amid a global bond market sell-off and stoked by concerns about Britain’s deficit and weak growth forecasts. Borrowing costs have since fallen significantly.

Ride-hailing and food delivery app Uber is opening its “interest list” to users in Austin, Texas, who want to be first in line for Waymo robotaxis there.
The company said in a statement that users will “be able to travel across 37 square miles of Austin — from Hyde Park, to Downtown, to Montopolis” — when the Uber-Waymo service launches soon.
The so-called “interest list” allows users to receive Uber updates and bolsters their odds of being matched with a Waymo autonomous vehicle upon launch.
The vehicles that will be part of the Austin service are Jaguar iPace electric models equipped with Waymo’s driverless systems and labeled with both Waymo and Uber branding.
The Waymo rides in Austin will only be available through the Uber app, unlike in San Francisco and Los Angeles, where riders hail them through the Waymo One app.
In the face of investor pressure to step up its autonomous vehicle strategy after Tesla promised it would soon start producing robotaxis, Uber last year said it had begun testing a ride-hailing app with some of its employees.
While Tesla does not make vehicles that are safe to use without a human driver at the wheel, ready to steer or brake at all times, Elon Musk’s automaker in January said it will “begin launching” a driverless ride-hailing business “later this year” starting in Austin.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, testing and operating a commercial robotaxi service in the state does not require the same types of special licenses and permits that other states require.
“Texas law allows for AV testing and operations on Texas roadways as long as they meet the same safety and insurance requirements as every other vehicle on the road,” a spokesperson for the department told CNBC by e-mail.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi is expected to discuss the impact of automated driving systems — or self-driving cars — on the company’s overall business and strategy on a fourth-quarter earnings call on Wednesday.

AMD on Tuesday announced its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2024 and for the whole year. As expected, the company managed to post impressive results driven by its client and datacenter CPUs. Perhaps AMD’s biggest achievement in the quarter is that the company managed to outsell Intel in the datacenter space for the first time in history. Yet, sales of AMD’s datacenter GPUs somewhat disappointed market observers.

AMD’s revenue in Q4 2024 totaled $7.658 billion, up 24% year-over-year. The company’s gross margin hit 51%, whereas net income was $482 million. On the year basis, 2024 was AMD’s best year ever as the company’s revenue reached $25.8 billion, up 14% year-over-year. The company earned net income of $1.641 billion as its gross margin hit 49%. But while the company’s annual results are impressive, there is something about Q4 results that AMD should be proud of.

Datacenter business was the company’s primary source of earnings, with net revenue reaching record $3.86 billion in Q4, marking a 69% year-over-year (YoY) increase and a 9% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) rise. Operating income also saw substantial improvement, surging 74% YoY to $1.16 billion. By contrast, Intel’s datacenter and AI business unit posted $3.4 billion revenue, while its operating income reached $200 million. But while the quarter marked a milestone for AMD, market analysts expected AMD to sell more of its Instinct MI300-series GPUs for AI and HPC.
AMD’s client business unit, which includes CPUs for desktops and laptops, showed exceptional growth in Q4. Net revenue climbed 58% YoY to $2.31 billion and 23% QoQ. However, the standout figure was the 711% year-over-year surge in operating income, reaching $446 million.
Unfortunately for AMD, its gaming business struggled in the fourth quarter, with net revenue declining to $563 million, or 59% less compared to the same timeframe in the previous year. The operating income of the unit plunged 78% year-over-year to just $50 million. The major decline being the result of lower sales of Radeon discrete GPUs as well as system-on-chips for Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation game consoles.
AMD’s embedded segment saw a moderate decline in the fourth quarter with net revenue falling to $923 million, or by 13% compared to Q4 2023, while operating income dropped 21% to $362 million. On a quarter-to-quarter basis, revenue remained flat, but operating income declined 3%.

Samsung recently launched its latest Galaxy S25 Ultra alongside its usual Galaxy S25 models, and it came with several changes, including a brand-new design. While this design appears very different from previous Ultra models, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is now also noticeably lighter at just 218 grams versus the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 232 grams. Part of this is also down to its new S Pen. It cuts down on some features and is missing some internal parts, making it lighter this year. Samsung has now finally revealed the price of a new S Pen replacement on its US website, and it strangely costs as much as the previous one.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen is now available for purchase on Samsung’s official US website. The site clearly mentions that a new S Pen will cost as much as the previous model, which is $49.99 (or approximately Rs. 4,358). We cross-checked the same on Samsung’s India website, but the brand has not put a price tag on the accessory yet.
The S Pen is an essential accessory with Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra models but was first introduced with its now-defunct Galaxy Note series of devices, which were commonly referred to as “phablets.” Over the years, Samsung’s S Pen introduced new features and had its own battery, which enabled the same. However, the latest styli lack the battery and the tech, essentially reducing them to pieces of plastic, losing many of the cool features introduced previously.
Samsung, in a recent report, clarified that its new Galaxy S25 Ultra S Pen does not support Bluetooth-enabled S Pen interactions like previous S Pens. This is because the new S Pen does not have its own battery, which usually powers the low-frequency pairing. This enabled features such as Air Actions and the remote clicker feature for its camera app. These are currently possible on older iterations of the S Pen (when paired with older devices). In its current state, it only supports basic stylus features like scribbling, selection, and Circle to Search.
The Ultra models from Samsung’s Galaxy S series of devices currently are the only ones to offer an integrated S Pen silo, in which the S Pen slides in and can be stored when not in use. Even Samsung’s book-style foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, still needs an add-on case accessory to hold its S Pen, both of which are sold separately. In fact, the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s special S Pen Fold Edition also does not offer Bluetooth and so does not need to be charged like previous S Pen models. This makes the Galaxy S24 Ultra the last device from Samsung (aside from its Galaxy Tablets) to support the richer and more advanced S Pen experience.

Six uncapped players named in South Africa ODI squad
South Africa will take six uncapped players to Pakistan this week for their tri-series against the hosts and New Zealand, coach Rob Walter said on Wednesday.
An initial 12-man selection has been named to take on New Zealand in Lahore next Monday in South Africa’s first game of the series.
Additional players will be named once player availability becomes clearer as South Africa’s showcase Twenty20 competition concludes this week.
Temba Bavuma will lead the side with allrounder Mihlali Mpongwana being named in the squad for a second time after a first call-up against India two years ago.
The uncapped players are batsmen Matthew Breetzke and Meeka-eel Prince, spinner Senuran Muthusamy and the fast bowling duo of Gideon Peters and Eathan Bosch.
Gerald Coetzee has recovered from a left hamstring strain and is also included after being forced to sit out the Test series against Pakistan last month and then the SA20 tournament.
Keshav Maharaj and Heinrich Klaasen miss the first match but will be available for the second ODI against Pakistan in Karachi on February 12.
The tri-series is a warm up ahead of the Champions Trophy, which starts on February 19 and is being co-hosted by Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
South African ODI regulars Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs and Rassie van der Dussen will not take part in the tri-series but have already been named in the squad for the Champions Trophy.

Ride-hailing and food delivery app Uber is opening its “interest list” to users in Austin, Texas, who want to be first in line for Waymo robotaxis there.
The company said in a statement that users will “be able to travel across 37 square miles of Austin — from Hyde Park, to Downtown, to Montopolis” — when the Uber-Waymo service launches soon.
The so-called “interest list” allows users to receive Uber updates and bolsters their odds of being matched with a Waymo autonomous vehicle upon launch.
The vehicles that will be part of the Austin service are Jaguar iPace electric models equipped with Waymo’s driverless systems and labeled with both Waymo and Uber branding.
The Waymo rides in Austin will only be available through the Uber app, unlike in San Francisco and Los Angeles, where riders hail them through the Waymo One app.
In the face of investor pressure to step up its autonomous vehicle strategy after Tesla promised it would soon start producing robotaxis, Uber last year said it had begun testing a ride-hailing app with some of its employees.
While Tesla does not make vehicles that are safe to use without a human driver at the wheel, ready to steer or brake at all times, Elon Musk’s automaker in January said it will “begin launching” a driverless ride-hailing business “later this year” starting in Austin.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, testing and operating a commercial robotaxi service in the state does not require the same types of special licenses and permits that other states require.
“Texas law allows for AV testing and operations on Texas roadways as long as they meet the same safety and insurance requirements as every other vehicle on the road,” a spokesperson for the department told CNBC by e-mail.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi is expected to discuss the impact of automated driving systems — or self-driving cars — on the company’s overall business and strategy on a fourth-quarter earnings call on Wednesday.

For the first time, researchers have successfully controlled and observed Kelvin waves in superfluid helium-4, marking a significant step in understanding energy dissipation in quantum systems. The study has provided a controlled method to excite these helical waves, which had previously only been observed in unpredictable conditions. The research opens new possibilities for studying quantised vortices and their role in energy transfer at the quantum level.
Controlled Excitation of Kelvin Waves
According to the study published in Nature Physics, also available on arXiv, Kelvin waves—first described by Lord Kelvin in 1880—are helical disturbances that travel along vortex lines in superfluid systems. These waves play a crucial role in energy dissipation within quantum fluids but have remained difficult to study due to the challenges of controlled excitation.
Associate Professor Yosuke Minowa from Kyoto University, the lead author of the study, told Phys.org that the breakthrough occurred unexpectedly. An electric field was applied to a nanoparticle decorating a quantised vortex with the intention of moving the structure. Instead, the vortex core exhibited a distinct wavy motion, leading researchers to shift their focus toward controlled Kelvin wave excitation.
Superfluid Properties and Quantum Vortex Behaviour
Superfluid helium-4, which exhibits quantum effects at macroscopic scales when cooled below 2.17 Kelvin, has no viscosity, allowing it to flow without friction. This unique state prevents energy from dissipating as heat, leading to the formation of Kelvin waves when disturbances occur in the vortex lines of the fluid. The research team demonstrated that these waves, rather than traditional fluid turbulence, provide an essential mechanism for energy transfer in superfluid systems.
Nanoparticles Used for Wave Visualisation
To track the motion of Kelvin waves, the researchers introduced silicon nanoparticles into superfluid helium-4 at 1.4 Kelvin by directing a laser at a silicon wafer submerged in the fluid. Some nanoparticles became trapped within vortex cores, making them visible under controlled conditions. A time-varying electric field was then applied, forcing oscillations in the trapped particles and generating a helical wave along the vortex.
Experiments were conducted across different excitation frequencies ranging from 0.8 to 3.0 Hertz. A dual-camera system allowed for three-dimensional reconstruction of the wave’s motion, confirming its helical nature.
Experimental Confirmation and Future Research
Prof. Minowa explained to Phys.org that proving the observed phenomenon was indeed a Kelvin wave required an in-depth analysis of dispersion relations, phase velocity, and three-dimensional dynamics. By reconstructing the vortex’s motion in 3D, the researchers provided direct evidence of the wave’s handedness, confirming its left-handed helical structure—something never experimentally demonstrated before.
To validate their findings, the team developed a vortex filament model, which simulated Kelvin wave excitation under similar conditions. These simulations confirmed that forced oscillations of a charged nanoparticle generated helical waves in both directions, aligning with experimental results.
The study introduces a new approach for studying Kelvin waves in superfluid helium, offering insights into the mechanics of quantised vortices. Future research may explore the nonlinearity and decay processes of Kelvin waves, potentially revealing further details about quantum fluid dynamics.

Jim Chalmers has reassured big business leaders he wants to slash red tape, boost productivity and seize the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence — rather than have Australia run scared from it — in a second term Labor government.
In remarks the Treasurer gave to 30 chief executives in Canberra at a closed-doors Business Council dinner on Wednesday night, he emphasised the importance of the private sector in steering the nation out of the current economic slump.
He revealed he has asked the Productivity Commission to specifically examine streamlining regulations during its “five pillars” inquiries looking at the productivity challenges that will either propel or hinder Australia into the future.
The aim is to come up with a list of red tape that can be cut or eased.
“This is all aimed at making it easier to invest, easier to hire, easier to trade and easier to do business in Australia,” Dr Chalmers said.
He linked the focus on productivity — which he flagged as a key part of his plan for a second term — to the massive changes being wrought globally by AI.
“Historically, more than half of our productivity growth has come from working smarter — combining our skills and capital resources in more efficient and innovative ways,” he said.
It was clear AI would become a ******* part of Australia’s economy and life and how the country — and governments — responded would shape its future.
The Government has already released a voluntary AI safety standard and Industry Minister Ed Husic is now developing a national capability strategy looking to support local industry.
“Our focus with AI is also on the huge gains on offer, not just the guardrails,” Dr Chalmers said.
“We want to continue to build and foster innovation, so more workers and more businesses adapt and adopt AI to their advantage, and also give investors clarity and certainty to invest in AI infrastructure in Australia with confidence.”
He noted these focuses were in line with the BCA’s election manifesto published earlier in the week.
While the business lobby group and Labor government have not always seen eye-to-eye over the past couple of years, Dr Chalmers still urged leaders to bring forward their ideas and innovations.
He thanked them for having already done so.
The Opposition has scolded the Government for high levels of public spending, saying it has kept inflation elevated despite it also keeping the country out of recession.
Dr Chalmers said in the next economic phase — coming out of the soft landing managed after the pandemic — the private sector contribution would be vital.
“We decided we’d rather deliver a soft landing than clean up after a hard one,” he said.
“But we know that the best kind of strong and sustainable economic growth means growth led by the private sector.”

The Google owner, Alphabet, has dropped its pledge not to use artificial intelligence for purposes such as developing weapons and surveillance tools.
The US technology company said on Tuesday, just before it reported lower than forecast earnings, that it had updated its ethical guidelines around AI, and they no longer refer to not pursuing technologies that could “cause or are likely to cause overall harm”.
Google’s AI head, Demis Hassabis, said the guidelines were being overhauled in a changing world and that AI should protect “national security”.
In a blogpost defending the move, Hassabis and the company’s senior vice-president for technology and society, James Manyika, wrote that as global competition for AI leadership increases, the company believes “democracies should lead in AI development” that is guided by “freedom, equality, and respect for human rights”.
They added: “We believe that companies, governments, and organisations sharing these values should work together to create AI that protects people, promotes global growth, and supports national security.”
Google’s motto when it first floated was “don’t be evil”, although this was later downgraded in 2009 to a “mantra” and was not included in the code of ethics of Alphabet when the parent company was created in 2015.
The rapid growth of AI has prompted a debate about how the new technology should be governed, and how to guard against its risks.
The British computer scientist Stuart Russell has warned of the dangers of developing autonomous weapon systems, and argued for a system of global control, speaking in a Reith lecture on the BBC.
The Google blogpost argued that since the company first published its AI principles in 2018, the technology had evolved rapidly. “Billions of people are using AI in their everyday lives. AI has become a general-purpose technology, and a platform which countless organisations and individuals use to build applications,” Hassabis and Manyika wrote.

One dead, 5 injured New Albany manufacturer shooting
NEW ALBANY, Ohio (WCMH) — One person is dead and five people are injured after a shooting at a New Albany warehouse Tuesday night.
According to authorities, the shooting happened at the KDC/One building on the 8800 block of Smith’s Mill Road North at approximately 10:20 p.m. According to the New Albany Chamber of Commerce website, KDC/One manufactures cosmetics for LBrands stores.

The incident appears to be a “targeted type of attack,” New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones said in an update just before 2 a.m. Wednesday. A motive for the shooting has not been released and no altercation happened before the shooting, Jones said.
Jones added that a firearm was recovered at the scene; he did not say what type of firearm it was.
One suspect has been identified and is alive, but officials did not release that person’s name. A spokesperson at the scene said officers do not believe the suspect is still at the New Albany facility. Jones said this person is likely the only suspect.
Central Ohio non-profit among DOGE targets
The conditions of the five transported to the hospital are not known. The deceased victim was found inside the building, Jones said.

At least 20 people were escorted from one building at the scene to another at one point. Jones said those people — he estimated 150 people in the building at the time of the shooting — are safe and able to contact their friends and family.
Due to the size of the facility, Jones said many of the people inside the building did not know the shooting was happening.
Law enforcement officers with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, New Albany and Columbus police as well as the Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene.

Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to call New Albany police at 614-855-1234.
Jones said once those at the scene speak with detectives, they will be able to leave the location.

Tributes paid to woman who died on Lowestoft beach rocks
Tributes have been left for a woman who reportedly became trapped on rocks after falling from a sea wall.
The emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the incident close to The Esplanade in Lowestoft, Suffolk, on Sunday at about 20:03 GMT.
The woman, who police said was in her 30s, died at the scene. A file is being prepared for the coroner.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances at this time,” Suffolk Police said.
Flowers and family tributes have been left on the sea wall barrier.
One said: “My beautiful daughter-in-law, you are going to be missed”, while another from the woman’s niece said she burst into tears when she heard the news, adding “U really are my best auntie”.
Another handwritten message read: “There are no words to express how much we will miss you. The world is so cruel.”

The 49-year-old golf legend has revealed mother Kultida Woods passed away on Tuesday, and hailed her “a force of nature all her own”.
He wrote in a statement shared on X and Instagram: “It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning.
“My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable. She was quick with the needle and a laugh.”
A cause of death has not been revealed.
Woods insisted his own “personal achievements” were only attainable with Kultida’s support, while he thanked everyone for their “prayers and privacy”.
He added: “She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible.
