The list of “some of the most-reviewed and most-photographed places” on Google Maps over the last couple of decades include restaurants, parks, monuments, museums, castles, and more – from Hard Eight BBQ in Texas to Cologne Cathedral in Germany. Google has also shared some of the locations most popular in Immersive View on Google Maps, where you can actually see ground-level photography around and inside places: the Eiffel Tower, the Golden Gate Bridge, Big Ben, and the Griffith Observatory are included. At the end of the round-up there are also some funny Street View photobombs, featuring animals snapped by the Street View cameras. 4. Students, sports teams honor late Petersburg teen in a personal way Students, sports teams honor late Petersburg teen in a personal way Just before the start of basketball practice last fall, PORTA boys coach Steven Price heard Grant Withers, a tall, lanky, but athletic kid still growing into his body, didn’t plan on coming out for the team. In a story related by Brett Leischner, the assistant principal for the junior/senior high school in Petersburg, Price, who saw potential in Withers’ athletic ability, approached the 15-year-old at school about what was behind his decision. “(Withers) said, ‘Well, coach, I’m real sorry, but I just want to hunt more,'” Leischner recalled. “And that’s what he did.” More: Coroner identifies 15-year-old who died in weekend shooting outside of Petersburg On Monday, two days after Withers sustained a gunshot wound that would prove fatal at his family’s home in the 15000 block of Tice Road just east of Petersburg, students honored Withers and his family by wearing camo shirts, jackets and pants to school. Grant Withers The idea caught on. PORTA’s girls’ basketball team donned camo warmups, as did its Sangamo Conference opponent, Williamsville. Porta’s wrestlers and teams from Beardstown and Farmington also saluted Withers at a meet on Tuesday. Withers also liked to ride dirt bikes and four-wheelers, according to a GoFundMe page set up to support ******** and additional expenses related to his passing. Illinois State Police, which is leading the investigation, has not divulged details of the fatal shooting. Menard County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 1. Withers’ father, Richard Withers, 40, also died of a gunshot wound, according to Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon. PORTA brought in counselors for students for the week, Leischner said, including its former high school principal, Amy McMahan, who was a guidance counselor and now works in the Havana school system. Surrounding school districts, he added, volunteered to send in help. The district also made therapy dogs available to students, said PORTA Superintendent Shannon Duling. “We had a lot of supports on Monday,” Duling said. “Kids and staff leaned on each other throughout the day and just kind of remembered Grant. “We had lots of different areas for kids to talk to one another. Fortunately, we had a nice (weather) day, so we had kids who walked the track and tried to get some physical movement.” “It was amazing to see some kids you really didn’t think Grant interacted with a lot who were really affected by it, too,” Leischner added. “I think that just really speaks to how well Grant was liked and just that everyone knew he was a great kid.” Leischner taught Withers as a seventh grader and coached him in basketball and baseball. Withers played football at PORTA. Withers, he remembered, had a competitive side, even in recess or PE class, but he was “super kind and a good teammate. He would do anything to help out the team.” Like Withers had a close-knit circle of friends, Leischner said, Petersburg is a close-knit community. That’s what’s made the situation so devastating, he said. “This hurt a lot of people. I’m not going to sugarcoat that,” said Leischner, a PORTA graduate. “But I think it’s going as well as it can. I’ve been incredibly, incredibly impressed by our staff here. They’ve gone above and beyond for our kids, checking in with them, understanding what they’re going through. “But it’s hard. It hit our staff hard, and the kids, obviously. One of the great things about our community and our school and our district is that we wrap around each other, and we make sure that we get through things together.” Contact Steven Spearie: 217-622-1788; [email protected]; X, twitter.com/@StevenSpearie. 6. Jailed ex-minister Iswaran moved to house arrest Jailed ex-minister Iswaran moved to house arrest A former senior minister in Singapore’s government, who was jailed following a high-profile trial last year, has been allowed to serve the remainder of his 12-month sentence from home. Subramaniam Iswaran was imprisoned on 7 October after he pleaded guilty to accepting gifts worth more than S$403,000 ($300,000; £240,000) while in office, as well as obstructing the course of justice. Iswaran’s case gripped Singapore, where a corruption case involving a public official is rare. The island nation that serves as South East Asia’s financial hub prides itself with its squeaky clean image. He was transferred to home arrest on Friday, the Singapore Prison Service (SPS) told local media. In Singapore, inmates may be transferred to home detention after being assessed on factors such as their conduct in prison and response to rehabilitation. Authorities said Iswaran was found to be “of low risk of re-offending, did not commit any institutional offence in prison, and has strong family support”. While in home detention he will be required to wear an electronic monitoring tag and report to prison authorities for counselling. Local broadcaster Channel News Asia reported seeing Iswaran having a meal in his home on Friday. Iswaran’s 12-month prison sentence was longer than what both his defence team and prosecutors sought during his trial. During his sentencing in October, the judge said that public officials like Iswaran should also be seen as having “greater culpability in abusing their position to obtain valuable gifts”. Iswaran is the first political office-holder in Singapore to be tried in court in the past 50 years. The last time a minister faced a corruption probe was in 1986, when development minister Teh Cheang Wan was investigated for accepting bribes. He killed himself before he was charged. 8. Nvidia could be drastically reducing RTX 4060 GPU supply right now – another heavy hint that the RTX 5060 is imminent Nvidia could be drastically reducing RTX 4060 GPU supply right now – another heavy hint that the RTX 5060 is imminent Nvidia is apparently scaling back RTX 4060 production, big time This is another hint that the RTX 5060 could be arriving in March Don’t panic if you want an RTX 4060, though, as they aren’t going to be disappearing off shelves anytime soon Nvidia is now drastically reducing the production volume of its RTX 4060 graphics cards, if fresh speculation from those apparently in the know is correct. The first thing to be aware of is that this comes from the Board Channels forum in China (via VideoCardz), a regular source of gossip on hardware-related happenings populated by folks who are close to the supply chain over in Asia. As such, the rumor pertains specifically to that region, but if Nvidia is pulling back supply of chips for RTX 4060 graphics cards in Asia, the same thing will surely be happening on a global scale. According to the post on the forum, from February – so this is already underway – Nvidia is reducing RTX 4060 chip supply to its third-party graphics card manufacturing partners by at least 60% (compared to the final quarter of 2024). Put simply, that means we could be looking at only a third of the volume of chips being produced by Nvidia and supplied to card makers, which would mean an identical drop in the level of new RTX 4060 (and 4060 Ti) graphics cards coming to the market. As ever, though, this is just a rumor, so be careful about believing it too readily. (Image credit: Future / John Loeffler) Analysis: Even if this is correct, the move will take time to filter through The reason why Nvidia might be running down production – to a large extent – on a popular graphics card would seem to be obvious. In short, this is another clear indication that the RTX 5060 is imminent, with a number of rumors suggesting that this graphics card is set to launch in March 2025. Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. So, if the successor to the RTX 4060 is due to be unleashed next month, it’d fully make sense that this current-gen graphics card would start to be ushered out the door by Nvidia from around about now. Again, exercise caution around the rumors for the RTX 5060 launch, but all these small pieces of the puzzle seem to be fitting together nicely enough. Does this mean that, in theory, you soon won’t be able to buy an RTX 4060? No, it’s not as simple as that. Even if this two-thirds slashing of production is underway right now, it will take a while before that impact is felt on graphics cards that are actually shipping. Furthermore, there’s going to be quite a lot of stock in warehouses and other parts of the distribution cycle, too, and even when all of that sells through, there will still be some RTX 4060 boards being made. This graphics card is still going to be on shelves for some time, then, but it will become rarer as this year rolls on, assuming this rumor is correct, as the RTX 5060 takes the limelight on the lower-mid-range GPU stage. I’ll put my hands up and admit, I was skeptical that Nvidia would launch the RTX 5060 as soon as March, following the RTX 5070 so closely – but it increasingly seems like this is going to be the case. It’s also worth noting that we just heard another positive rumor on the topic of the RTX 5060 and its cabling, with the GPU apparently not needing a 12VHPWR power connector (which will make upgrading a lot easier, and we go into exactly why this is the case here, if you’re interested). 9. Bitcoin: Supply Crunch, Institutional Demand Keep Long-Term Bull Case Intact Bitcoin: Supply Crunch, Institutional Demand Keep Long-Term Bull Case Intact Bitcoin’s struggle at $100K could decide if bulls take charge or sellers drive it lower. Institutional buying signals confidence, but economist Eugene Fama warns Bitcoin may hit zero. Trump’s pro-crypto stance lifts sentiment, but Bitcoin’s fate hinges on adoption and regulation. Looking for actionable trade ideas to get in on winning stocks early? Unlock access to InvestingPro’s AI-selected picks for February using this link. ‘s price action remains volatile, with the $100,000 level serving as a critical pivot point in early 2025. Institutional interest remains strong, and the pro-crypto stance of U.S. President Donald Trump has fueled optimism for the market’s future. However, some economists warn of a potential long-term collapse. Nobel Prize-winning economist Eugene Fama predicts that Bitcoin could reset to zero within a decade. With bullish momentum building in the short term but skepticism lingering in the long run, the big question is: Could Bitcoin really become worthless, or is it on the path to new highs? Let’s break down its current trajectory, the risks ahead, and what investors should watch. Bitcoin’s Short-Term Outlook: Will It Break $100K? Bitcoin has faced selling pressure in recent days, pulling back after hitting a peak of $109,000. It briefly found support at $101,000 but is now testing another key level at $96,500. Attempts to reclaim $99,000 have been weak, keeping traders cautious. The cryptocurrency’s inability to hold above $100,000 has added to investor uncertainty. A recent wave of tariff disputes in global markets has dampened risk appetite, further weighing on Bitcoin. While altcoins have suffered heavier losses, Bitcoin has shown relative resilience as long-term holders withdraw assets from centralized exchanges. According to Glassnode, 170,000 BTC were moved off exchanges in a single day—one of the largest outflows since April 2024. Such movements often signal accumulation by institutional investors betting on higher prices. Technically, Bitcoin is approaching the lower boundary of its short-term ascending channel. A sustained break below this level could trigger further declines. If the price fails to reclaim $99,000 by the end of the week, sellers could push Bitcoin toward key support at $92,500. A break below that level may lead to a deeper slide toward $87,500 and even $80,000. On the flip side, for Bitcoin to regain bullish momentum, it needs a daily close above $99,000, followed by a breakout past $101,700. If buyers regain control, surpassing recent highs could ignite a rally toward $120,000, in line with Fibonacci projections. Could Bitcoin Collapse to Zero? The Fama Debate Eugene Fama, a Nobel Prize-winning economist, argues that Bitcoin’s extreme volatility and lack of intrinsic value make it unsustainable. He believes Bitcoin fails as a currency because its price swings make it impractical for daily transactions. He also dismisses the idea that Bitcoin is a digital version of gold, stating that its value is purely speculative. However, Bitcoin’s track record challenges these claims. Over the past 15 years, it has evolved into a widely recognized store of value, outperforming traditional assets during inflationary periods. Unlike fiat currencies, Bitcoin’s supply is capped at 21 million, and its decentralized Proof-of-Work (PoW) mechanism ensures network security. While Bitcoin’s short-term price movements are influenced by macroeconomic factors, its independence from government control makes it an attractive alternative to traditional financial systems. Institutional adoption has continued to rise, and historical price cycles suggest Bitcoin has repeatedly recovered from sharp drawdowns. For Bitcoin to truly “reset,” a major global ban or a severe structural flaw would need to emerge. However, regulatory trends suggest governments are moving toward clearer rules rather than outright prohibitions. A coordinated, worldwide ban seems increasingly unlikely. Bitcoin’s Long-Term Path: ***** or Bust? Institutional adoption and government policies will play a crucial role in Bitcoin’s future. Trump’s push to position the U.S. as a global crypto hub has provided a boost to sentiment. If his administration maintains a favorable stance, Bitcoin demand could strengthen in the coming years. From a technical perspective, Bitcoin has maintained a long-term uptrend. It consolidated between March and September in both 2023 and 2024 before breaking higher. Currently, it remains in another consolidation phase, with a key resistance zone at $105,000 and support near $89,000. If Bitcoin holds within its broader ascending channel, price action could remain range-bound in the short term. However, a breakout above $105,000 could set the stage for a rally toward $170,000 by the end of the year. In an extended bull cycle, Bitcoin could even reach the $220,000–$240,000 range. For now, the critical factor remains Bitcoin’s ability to stay within its long-term uptrend. If it does, history suggests new all-time highs could be on the horizon. 11. Republicans say they are nearing deal on Trump’s tax cuts, divided on cost Republicans say they are nearing deal on Trump’s tax cuts, divided on cost WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Congressional Republicans emerged from a five-hour meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday without a deal on how to extend his sweeping tax cuts, though senior lawmakers said they believed they were close to agreement. Republicans, who hold narrow majorities in the House of Representatives and Senate, have spent weeks trying to agree on a plan to cover the cost of extending the tax cuts – which nonpartisan analysts say could add another $4 trillion to the U.S.’s existing $36 trillion in debt over the next decade. “We worked out the framework for what we believe will be the path forward. We’re going to meet again tonight to finish up some final details,” House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters at the Capitol. “I think we’ll be able to make some announcement probably by tomorrow.” Trusted news and daily delights, right in your inbox See for yourself — The Yodel is the go-to source for daily news, entertainment and feel-good stories. Republicans are trying to use a legislative maneuver to bypass the opposition of Senate Democrats, which will require near unanimity that has often eluded their fractious House caucus over the past two years. Johnson has been juggling demands of hardline Republicans who want deep spending cuts and party moderates concerned about how such cuts might affect public services in their districts. The longer it takes them to get moving on Trump’s agenda, the closer Congress edges toward two crucial deadlines: A March 14 deadline to keep the federal government operating and a yet-to-be-determined midyear time limit to raise the federal debt ceiling or risk a disastrous default. In their past two years in the majority, House Republicans have repeatedly turned to Democrats to secure the votes needed to pass funding measures. In the face of Trump’s aggressive moves to remake the government since taking office, top Democrats have warned they do not plan to help Republicans this time around. Republican Representative Chip Roy, one of the party’s hardliners who attended the White House meeting, said he was pushing for a deal that would reduce the federal government’s budget deficit, which topped $1.8 trillion last year. “That’s an important line in the sand for a lot of us,” Roy told reporters after the discussion. “What matters is the total package, adding up what we expect to occur based on all of the variables – tax policy, regulatory policies, all those things – what kind of cuts do we achieve, and then what does that do to the deficit? That’s what’s driving my consideration.” With a 218-215 majority, House Republicans can afford to lose the support of no more than one of their members to pass legislation that Democrats unite in opposing. Earlier, as the meeting was ongoing, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that Trump laid out his tax priorities. Measures included extending the 2017 cuts, eliminating taxes on tips, Social Security benefits and overtime pay, adjusting the federal deduction for state and local taxes, eliminating tax breaks for billionaire sports team owners, closing the carried interest tax loophole and cutting taxes on products made in America. FA Cup: Twins Steven and Ryan Sessegnon ready to face one another FA Cup: Twins Steven and Ryan Sessegnon ready to face one another Steven says it will be a “once-in-a-lifetime” moment if he does get to play against his twin. But he has ruled out swapping shirts with Ryan at the end of the tie, which has to be decided on the day after replays from the first round onwards were scrapped. “If I wanted his shirt I could just call him and get one sent over,” he laughs. “Exchange shirts? I don’t think that’s going to happen.” There is more than 200 miles of road between Wigan and Fulham, and Steven admits he misses his twin after spending so much of their youth together playing football. “We know one another inside out,” he says. “We speak a lot on the phone. He’s got a one-year-old daughter and I love being on the phone with her and him.” Wigan boss Maloney said he would weigh up his options before deciding whether to play Steven following his recent injury. In January, Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson came under fire from some fans after denying 18-year-old Tyler Young a chance to play against his dad, Ashley, when the Posh lost to Everton in the third round. “We are not a charity case,” Ferguson, son of former Manchester United boss Sir Alex, said afterwards. Maloney, part of the Wigan team that beat Manchester City in the 2013 FA Cup final, said: “I want to win. “I know this game means a lot for those two [Steven and Ryan]. 16. 2 of the Hottest Artificial Intelligence (AI) Stocks on the Planet Can Plunge Up to 94%, According to Select Wall Street Analysts 2 of the Hottest Artificial Intelligence (AI) Stocks on the Planet Can Plunge Up to 94%, According to Select Wall Street Analysts For the better part of the last two years, no trend has captivated the attention of professional and everyday investors more than the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). With AI, software and systems are given the ability to make decisions, reason, and evolve, all without the aid of human intervention. Although this technology is still in its very early stages of evolution, it offers utility in most industries around the globe and, according to the analysts at PwC in Sizing the Prize, can boost worldwide gross domestic product by 26% come 2030. Image source: Getty Images. The eye-popping addressable market presented by AI hasn’t been lost on Wall Street or analysts. Most financial institutions expect market-leading AI stocks to push higher — but there are exceptions. Based on the low-water price targets provided by a pair of Wall Street analysts, two of the hottest artificial intelligence stocks on the planet can plunge by up to 94%! The first AI stock that could fall off the proverbial cliff, based on the prognostication of a lone Wall Street analyst, is data-mining specialist Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR). Shares of Palantir have catapulted higher by more than 1,500% since 2023 began. Despite this incredible outperformance, RBC Capital analyst Rishi Jaluria believes Palantir stock is headed to $40, which would represent a decline of 61% from where shares closed on Feb. 4. Interestingly enough, Jaluria raised his firms’ price target to $40 on Feb. 4 from just $11 per share following the release of Palantir’s fourth-quarter results and 2025 sales guidance (both of which blew past consensus estimates). Jaluria’s continued pessimism for Palantir has to do with “concerns about the runway for growth and product differentiation,” as well as “shares trading at a premium multiple,” per his note to investors. On one hand, Palantir’s competitive advantages have been on full display. There isn’t a one-for-one replacement for its AI-driven Gotham platform that assists federal governments with planning and executing missions, or its machine learning-powered Foundry platform, which helps businesses better understand their data. This has led to predictable operating cash flow, recurring profits, and multiyear contracts. On the other hand, there are reasons to believe Jaluria’s downside price target of $40 isn’t just a pipe dream. For starters, the company’s primary profit driver (Gotham) has a built-in ceiling that will, in all likelihood, limit its long-term growth runway. Since Gotham’s AI-inspired platform can only be used by the U.S. and its allies, there’s a limited pool of potential customers. Even with an uptick in possible use cases under the Trump administration, the ceiling for Gotham is tangible. Story Continues Secondly, every game-changing innovation since (and including) the advent of the internet three decades ago has endured a bubble-bursting event. This is to say that investors have consistently overestimated how quickly a new technology/innovation would be adopted and gain mainstream utility. Although Palantir’s contract-based backlog would somewhat soften the blow if the AI bubble were to burst, emotion-driven investing wouldn’t make it immune. The third issue Jaluria touches on that’s absolutely a historic concern is Palantir’s “premium multiple.” Whereas a number of market-leading businesses have been stopped in their tracks at a price-to-sales ratio of roughly 30 to 40 over the last three decades, Palantir’s stock is now trading at a whopping 83 times sales immediately following its fourth-quarter operating results. This level of valuation premium doesn’t appear sustainable. AI plays a key role in the safety aspect of Tesla EVs. Image source: Tesla. The other artificial intelligence stock that can plummet, based on the forecast of one longtime bearish analyst, is electric-vehicle (EV) maker Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA). AI is integral to the full self-driving (FSD) software Tesla’s EVs employ to navigate public roadways and avoid other cars, pedestrians, and obstacles. According to GLJ Research founder and analyst Gordon Johnson, North America’s leading EV maker is headed for $24.86 per share, which would equate to a plunge of 94% from where its stock ended on Feb. 4. This eerily specific price target from Johnson is derived from setting a 15X forward earnings multiple on Tesla and working backwards with a 9% discount rate. Similar to Palantir, Tesla has ridden its first-mover/competitive advantages to jaw-dropping gains. It’s one of a very small number of EV makers that’s generating a profit, and became the first auto company in more than a half-century to successfully build itself from the ground up to mass production. Additionally, Tesla is attempting to become more than just an auto stock. It’s been steadily expanding its energy and storage segment, which can help reduce the demand-driven ebbs-and-flows experienced by automakers. Johnson’s persistently bearish thesis on Tesla has to do with expected weakness in the company’s margins due to discounting, as well as its ongoing reliance on unsustainable sources of income. Beginning in 2023, Tesla began discounting its fleet of EVs (3, S, X, and Y), leading to more than a half-dozen price cuts spanning more than a year. A steady uptick in competition, coupled with weakening demand for EVs, has weighed heavily on the company’s vehicle margin. Though inventory levels have begun to decline, largely due to steep price cuts, they’re still up noticeably from a few years ago. Johnson also homed in on Tesla’s automotive regulatory credits as an issue. More than half of Tesla’s pre-tax income comes from a combination of selling tax credits to other automakers, interest income on its cash, and positive adjustments on the value of its digital assets. Theses are unsustainable and/or non-innovative income sources. Instead of EVs and energy storage driving profits, Tesla’s bottom line has been boosted by factors that have nothing to do with its business. But perhaps the biggest worry of all for Tesla and its shareholders is CEO Elon Musk. Even though Musk has overseen the rollout of new EVs, energy storage products, and multiple versions of FSD, he’s failed to deliver on countless promises. Specifically, he’s been alluding to FSD reaching Level 5 autonomy “next year” for more than a decade. If Musk’s unfulfilled promises were backed out of Tesla’s valuation, Gordon Johnson’s exceptionally low price target wouldn’t seem that far-fetched. We ended up 29.28% for 2024; SPX up 23.67% for the year. We shaded in light blue where the TRIN closes came in near 1.20 and higher, which suggests panic is present and panic only forms near bottoms. The panic TRIN closes the group between 582 to 600 ranges suggesting a large support area. We also noted times the TRIN closed near 1.20 and higher in blue on the chart above, showing what days the TRIN showed panic. Yesterday, the TRIN closed at 1.50 and bullish. Seasonality has turned bullish and lasts into mid-February. A candlestick pattern called a “Bearish Engulfing” formed last Friday and most of these patterns’ highs are tested and may be where the SPY is heading (the high came in at 609.96 SPY). The has been down 3 days in a row which leans a bullish sign for the SPX. Long SPX on 1/27/25 at 6012.28. Intermediate-term lows form when there is a “Selling Climax” (SC) and immediately after a “Sign of Strength” (SOS) forms. If there is no SOS after an SC then the market will continue lower until a “SOS” is formed after a “SC” which is called a “bullish setup”. We updated the above chart from yesterday and there appear to be two “bullish setups”. Yesterday we said, “This chart above favors the bullish side. The bottom window is the NYSE advancing/NYSE declining with a 5-day average. A bullish sign for the market appears when this ratio falls below .7 and then rallies to 3.00 in 30 days or less. On 1/13 the indicator reached .7 and rallied to 3.27 on 1/21, 6 days triggered a bullish sign. The top window is the NYSE McClellan Oscillator which also had a bullish setup. A bullish sign is triggered when the McClellan Oscillator reaches below -300 (reached on 12/19/24) then rallies to +200 within 30 days (reached +200 on 1/21/25).” Updated this chart from yesterday and yesterday’s commentary still stands, “The bottom window is the weekly Silver/Gold ratio and the top window is the weekly . This chart dates back to 1980. We shaded in pink horizontally the times when this ratio fell below .0125 and then shaded in pink again vertically to denote where that level fell on the XAU. Readings below .0125 (current price is .0119) on the /Gold ratio produced good areas to buy the XAU. When this ratio reaches .02 and above, intermediate tops can occur. What is interesting here is that this ratio in general has been below .0125 over a year during which the XAU has rally 50%. Gold stocks still appear cheap and a good buy according to the Silver/Gold ratio.” Source link #Rally #Signals #Strength #Market #Approaches #Key #Resistance Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  22. Mistral Introduces Le Chat AI Assistant Apps on iOS and Android Mistral Introduces Le Chat AI Assistant Apps on iOS and Android Mistral released iOS and Android apps for its Le Chat artificial intelligence (AI) assistant on Thursday. The Paris-based AI firm’s chatbot was earlier available only as a web client but is now being pushed across more platforms. Powered by Mistral’s large language models (LLMs), Le Chat can answer general queries, perform web searches, accept multimodal input, generate images, and execute code in a sandboxed environment. Additionally, the company has also introduced two new subscription tiers for its chatbot, offering better AI models and higher rate limits. Mistral Releases Le Chat Apps for iOS and Android In a newsroom post, the AI firm announced the launch of iOS and Android apps for Le Chat. The chatbot app, which competes with Google’s Gemini, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft’s Copilot, and Anthropic’s Claude offers similar capabilities, but the company has highlighted several unique offerings as well. While all major chatbots today can answer queries, have conversations, generate images, perform web searches, and even help write code, Le Chat’s unique offerings are in terms of speed and quality. Mistral claims it uses “the fastest inference engines on the planet” and the chatbot can generate up to 1,000 words per second. Gadgets 360 staff members tested the app and found the response generation time to be slightly faster than ChatGPT and Gemini. This feature is available to all users, and can also be accessed without creating an account. Le Chat’s Android app Mistral also claims to offer high-quality image generation. It uses the ****** Forest Labs Flux Ultra model to generate images, offering photorealistic output and strong adherence to prompts. While image preference is subjective, in our testing, Le Chat was able to deliver satisfactory output. Another unique offering by Le Chat is the ability to deploy it in a secure environment for enterprises. Since enterprises would not prefer sensitive and financial information to be hosted on third-party cloud servers, Mistral will allow businesses to deploy them locally, connect with custom tools, and use customised models. The offering will be part of the Le Chat Enterprise subscription, which has been launched in a private preview. Apart from the Enterprise tier, Mistral has also announced two separate subscription tiers — Pro and Team. The Pro subscription is priced at $14.99 (roughly Rs. 1,310) a month and offers Mistral’s highest-performing models, unlimited messages, higher rate limits, and an option to opt out of sharing data with the company. The Team subscription is aimed at businesses and costs $24.99 (roughly Rs. 2,180) per user per month. 23. Deutsche Bank upgrades Honeywell because of break-up plan, sees 30% upside Deutsche Bank upgrades Honeywell because of break-up plan, sees 30% upside Honeywell ‘s decision to split up will result in a huge advantage for the stock, according to Deutsche Bank. On Thursday, Honeywell announced plans to officially break up into three independently listed companies, under pressure from activist investor Elliott Management. Analyst Nicole DeBlase upgraded the multinational conglomerate to a buy from hold rating. The analyst accompanied the move by lifting her price target to $260 from $236. DeBlase’s revised price target implies that the stock could rally another 24% from its current level. But there could even be more upside, the analyst said. “Our updated base case sum-of-the-parts valuation now shows attractive 30% upside potential to the current stock price,” wrote the analyst in a Thursday note. HON 1Y mountain HON 1Y chart “As we have learned through numerous recent examples in industrials, the rationale for a separation is about much more than a financial engineering exercise — it is about creating more focused, better-run companies that can control their own destiny with respect to reinvesting capital,” the analyst added. Meanwhile, DeBlase also expects earnings-related tailwinds on the horizon for Honeywell. Separately on Thursday, the company guided for 2025 adjusted earnings of between $10.10 to $10.50, well below the median consensus of $10.94. DeBlase believes that Honeywell purposefully set a conservative bar that will reward the company with an earnings beat. “If we are right about this, we think the stock’s multiple can re-rate towards the peer group average, ~23x **** P/E,” she added. “So, we essentially believe that earnings momentum can bridge ‘deal limbo’, creating a near-term positive catalyst, followed by the breakup catalyst in 2026.” Honeywell shares fell 5% on Thursday, but were set to open higher on Friday. 25. Tech job postings dropped in 2024, according to research Tech job postings dropped in 2024, according to research The number of advertised IT jobs dropped year-on-year in 2024, according to research by the Recruitment and Employment Federation (REC). Figures from REC saw a drop in postings across most tech roles, showing a return to pre-pandemic hiring levels. REC isn’t the only firm noticing these changes, with Matt Monette, country lead at Deel, seeing similar patterns. “After years of aggressive tech hiring, widespread layoffs over the past two years have made companies more cautious about rebuilding headcount, leading to a decline in job postings for certain roles,” he said. “That said, [Deel’s] data shows a growing demand for specialist professional services roles. For example, we saw a 74% increase in hiring of accountants globally, suggesting businesses are prioritising financial stability in an uncertain economic climate.” The tech hiring landscape has seen peaks and troughs over the past five years – during the pandemic, demand for IT professionals rose as the world turned to technology to complete everyday tasks from home due to global lockdowns, followed by the “great resignation”, where swathes of tech workers left their jobs looking for new opportunities both in and outside the sector. Though REC figures suggest a drop off in this uptick in demand for tech professionals, interest in tech talent is still high, as rapid development and adoption of technology forces businesses and individuals to arm themselves with the necessary digital capabilities required in the modern world. REC’s research, which partners with labour market data and analytics firm Lightcast to collate data from thousands of job board sites, found most IT professions had at least a 40% year-on-year drop in advertised roles in 2024, with posts for roles in IT user support technicians suffering the largest drop, at 47.1%. Demand for IT networking professionals declined by 40.7% in 2024, from 60,967 advertised jobs in 2023 to 36,172 last year, and advertisements for management consultant/business analysts and web designers both saw a drop of almost 42% in the same *******. While programmers and software developers are still some of the most sought-after talent in the tech sector, with 192,261 advertised roles in 2024, this was still a 44.8% year-on-year drop compared with the 348,446 postings the previous year. There are many reasons why these declines in advertised jobs may be taking place – a lack of skilled workers to fill tech roles has made hiring the available tech talent more competitive. This has created a trend towards training talent internally to ensure access to workers with the right skills. Budget concerns as a result of the unpredictable economic climate have also had many employers dialling back on tech projects, in turn leaving workers worried about redundancies and businesses putting hiring on pause. But REC chief executive Neil Carberry claimed the hiring landscape in the tech sector will bounce back once the economy begins to recover and investment in technologies such as artificial intelligence increases. “It was a particularly difficult year for IT professionals looking for new jobs – a complete reverse of demand during and just after the pandemic, which was very high,” he said. “These roles will bounce back quickly as companies invest in IT transformation during an economic recovery.” Source link #Tech #job #postings #dropped #research Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
