  2. Trump ‘won’t deport Harry’ and tributes to Southport ‘angels’ Trump ‘won’t deport Harry’ and tributes to Southport ‘angels’ Several of Sunday’s front pages focus on the Southport stabbings, just days after a government review found that counter-terrorism scheme Prevent “prematurely” closed its case on killer Axel Rudakubana three years before he went on to ******* three children in Southport. The Sun speaks to “Southport Hero” Joel Verite who confronted the attacker, and his interview generates the heartrending headline “Horror will live with me forever”. The Sunday Times also leads with an interview on the Southport stabbings, but with the parents of two of the children killed that day, Elsie Dot Stancombe and Bebe King. The paper says the parents gave a three-hour interview so that “people remember their girls for their personalities”. Bebe’s father describes her as “so confident and full of life”, and Elsie’s mother says her daughter was “truly” one of a kind. Because giving the interview with one newspaper is such a big step for the families, traditional media rivalry is put aside as other papers report on the Sunday Times interview. The Sunday Mirror gives most of its front page over to pictures of Elsie Dot and Bebe with the headline “They are our angels”. The Sunday People takes a similar approach but limits its main headline to a single word – “Angels”. The Sunday Express also highlights the same interview, picking up the quote from Bebe’s mother that she is “still looking for light in the dark”. More prominently on its front page, however, is a call from top Conservatives to leader Kemi Badenoch. Prominent members are calling on her to “save” the ***, the paper writes, by making an “election pact” with Nigel Farage’s Reform party. Meanwhile, the Sunday Telegraph reports on health minister Andrew Gwynne who, the paper writes, was “sacked for saying a pensioner should die”. Gwynne released a statement on Saturday apologising for “any offence caused” and said he understood the PM’s decision. Further down, the paper jumps to the other side of the pond as it writes that US President Donald Trump has “ruled out” deporting Prince Harry – while calling his wife, Meghan, “terrible”. Both stories have also taken the top slots on the front page of the Mail on Sunday, which describes the prime minister as “besieged” while “dramatically” axing Gwynne. Covering Trump’s comments on the Royal couple, the paper shares an image of the duke and duchess and places the president’s comments on Meghan front and centre. Taking a different focus than the other papers, the Observer leads with Labour’s plan to “fix [the] benefit system to get people back into work”. Benefit rules are set to be “redrawn”, the paper understands, in a “radical overhaul to cut cost of ********”. Separately, it also features an image of a small ************ girl dressed in red and barely coming up to the waists of gun-carrying ****** fighters she was standing between during Saturday’s handover of three Israeli hostages. Coldest February for six years? That could be the case, the Daily Star writes on its front page, as it says the cold weather could stick around until March. “Brrrrrilliant” – it writes. 3. Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr: Seven viewers asked to submit memories as news duo mark 40-year milestone Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr: Seven viewers asked to submit memories as news duo mark 40-year milestone West Australians are being asked to send in their memories of legendary news duo Susannah Carr and Rick Ardon, as they celebrate a record-breaking 40 years of reading the Seven bulletin together. Ardon and Carr, who did their first broadcast together on January 24, 1985, are the Guinness World Record holders for longest serving news anchor duo, an achievement ratified in 2022. To mark the 40-year milestone, viewers can log onto 7news.com.au from 6am on Sunday to submit stories and memories of Carr and Ardon, some of which would be shared on TV or in print. Writing in STM, friend and long-time colleague Alison Fan writes about the bond the pair has formed with their audience over the course of thousands of bulletins. Camera IconRick Ardon and Susannah Carr during their first broadcast together in 1985 Picture Channel Seven Credit: Unknown/Channel Seven Fan, an acclaimed journalist who had know Ardon and Carr since before they started working together, revealed that she was asked about the pair on a daily basis by friends and strangers alike. “When their faces are literally in your face, on your television in your home at six o’clock every night of the week for some 40 years, it creates a unique bonding and relationship that has thrived and flourished for generations of West *********** viewers,” Fan wrote. “They just feel like family. It is rare that any public personality can sustain that level of connection for four decades.” Fan believed Ardon and Carr’s success stemmed from “professionalism, dedication, care and sheer hard work”. “Far from simply reading the news, they know what they are talking about because they are both fastidious about checking and double checking what they tell you and how they look,” she wrote. “An old-school emphasis on correct dress, correct grammar, correct pronunciation, correct facts and appropriate tone and intonation that sees them adapt their delivery when moving from a serious story to a lighthearted one. It all adds up to a TV presence that is, for viewers, as comfortable and reassuring as their favourite couch.” A half-hour TV special with the duo is scheduled to air on Seven at 7pm on February 26. 6. Chisora v Wallin: Bloodied Derek Chisora beats Otto Wallin in *** finale Chisora v Wallin: Bloodied Derek Chisora beats Otto Wallin in *** finale Chisora spoke in the build-up to his *** send-off about it being an emotional week and those feels got the better of him when he entered the venue earlier in the night, with the **** broadcast showing him in tears. By the time he made his walk to the ring wearing a cowboy hat, Chisora had steadied himself mentally and he was warmly welcomed into the arena as fans sang along to Hotel California. ‘Del Boy’ set the tempo from the outset, fighting on the front foot and not allowing Wallin space to get behind his jab. Short bursts to body and head were enough to carry Chisora through the early stages and a looping right had Wallin backtracking in round three. Chisora was cut above his right eye in round five but passed a check with the doctor in the sixth as he continued to enjoy the better of the close exchanges. A looping right sent Wallin tumbling across the ring and down in the ninth but he was back ready to go by the count of eight. Upon hearing the 10-second clapper in the final round, Chisora threw everything at Wallin and put down his rival, who was saved by the bell. Chisora has faced some of the biggest names in the sport during his 18-year career, meeting Tyson Fury on three occasions, Whyte and Parker twice, and has also come up short against Vitali Klitschko and Oleksandr Usyk. It is Chisora’s third win in succession after victories over Gerald Washington and Joe Joyce. 8. Down 50% With a 5.9% Dividend Yield, Here’s Why This Dirt Cheap Value Stock Is Worth Buying in February Down 50% With a 5.9% Dividend Yield, Here’s Why This Dirt Cheap Value Stock Is Worth Buying in February At the time of this writing, the stock of United Parcel Service (NYSE: UPS) is down 17.5% since reporting fourth-quarter and full-year 2024 results on Jan. 30. The dividend stock is now hovering around its lowest level in more than four years and is down over 50% from its all-time high. Here’s why the sell-off in UPS is a buying opportunity despite serious challenges with the underlying business. Image source: Getty Images. One look at the following chart and it’s easy to see why the stock has sold off. UPS data by YCharts; TTM = trailing 12 months. The company enjoyed a ******* of sizable sales growth and margin expansion during the pandemic. However, it has failed to build upon that growth over the last few years, and margins have declined closer to pre-pandemic levels. UPS’ forecasts for 2025 show few reasons to be optimistic. Management is guiding for $89 billion in revenue and 10.8% operating margins. The guidance essentially indicates a return to 2023 results, a year in which UPS had $90.96 billion in revenue and adjusted operating margins of 10.9%. Given years of overpromising and underdelivering, it admittedly has become increasingly challenging to be optimistic about a UPS turnaround. But the good news is that the company seems to have a better handle on where it wants to go and isn’t afraid to communicate the anticipated pain that investors must endure in the meantime. What stood out in the latest earnings call was an anticipated 50% reduction in delivery volumes from Amazon, UPS’ largest customer, by the second half of 2026. The shipping company is making the move to boost margins by focusing on its most profitable segments. In October 2019, UPS launched its Digital Access Program (DAP) to grow its e-commerce business by offering small and medium-size businesses (SMBs) valuable tools and services. DAP hit the ground running, becoming a $1.3 billion business in 2021. The company has since built upon that momentum, growing DAP revenue by 17% in 2024 to $3.3 billion. Another standout in 2024 was growth in healthcare. Despite an overall volume decline in business-to-business (B2B) customers, UPS experienced growth in healthcare B2B, as well as healthcare with SMBs. On Jan. 8, it completed its acquisition of Frigo-Trans, a European healthcare logistics company specializing in cold-chain shipments. In December, UPS opened two healthcare cross-dock facilities for rapid transfers of temperature-sensitive products — one in Germany and the other in Italy. Healthcare is an instrumental part of the company’s long-term growth plan. In its March 2024 investor presentation, management said it expected healthcare revenue to double by 2026 as it leaned into time- and temperature-sensitive shipments. In fact, the increase in healthcare was expected to be so large that it comprised roughly half of overall revenue growth projected for between 2023 and 2026. Story Continues Despite a wave of guidance cuts and a complete reset in medium-term expectations, healthcare has been a rare bright spot. The company is still expecting exponential growth in this category, even as the rest of the business struggles. CEO Carol Tomé said the following on the fourth-quarter earnings call: Healthcare is such an opportunity for us. The healthcare market growth slowed down a bit in 2024. The market grew 2.5%. We grew 5%. So our healthcare revenue for the year, about $10.5 billion. We’ve got plans to take that to $20 billion by 2026. Management has invested heavily in healthcare because it believes it is a growing market that can deliver high-margin results, allowing it to be less dependent on low-margin business-to-consumer deliveries. UPS has the potential to turn its business around. But years of disappointment and weak 2025 guidance give investors little to smile about. Besides being a turnaround candidate, the allure of the stock is its massive 5.9% dividend yield. It didn’t used to have an ultra-high yield. But some mammoth dividend raises in recent years and a languishing stock price have pushed the yield up. Investors worried that the company will cut its payout can rest easy knowing management is committed to returning capital to investors. In its fourth-quarter earnings release, it said it expects to make $5.5 billion in 2025 dividend payments, $1 billion in stock buybacks, and $3.5 billion in capital expenditures (capex). For context, UPS spent $5.9 billion on dividends and buybacks in 2024 and $3.91 billion on capex. Of that, it spent $5.4 billion on dividends and paid down $3.8 billion in debt. So while it is pulling back a little on capex, it is restoring investor confidence in the dividend by implying a slight raise in 2025. The company has long said it is targeting a payout ratio of 50%, meaning half of earnings are going toward the dividend. It continues to be well above that range, but mainly because of its pension expense. Tomé said the following on the earnings call: From a dividend payout perspective, we’re targeting 50% of earnings, and we’re higher than that. It’s important to note, however, that it’s distorted because of the below-the-line noncash pension expense. And if you ignore the noncash pension expense, the payout ratio isn’t as high as it appears at its pace. So plenty of liquidity to pay the dividend. In sum, management believes its dividend is affordable and it can continue to make minor raises even while it turns the business around. UPS has made a series of strategic blunders in recent years. Those mistakes have translated to a lower stock price. Its weak guidance gives investors few reasons to hold the stock through this ******* other than the hope that it can emerge as a stronger company, along with the passive income potential from the dividend. As appealing as the dividend is, the stock is only worth buying if you think the company is charting a path toward higher earnings growth through its efficiency improvements and focus on SMBs and healthcare. Because ultimately, a dividend is only as strong as the company paying it. And if UPS fails to grow earnings, it won’t be able to raise or even sustain its existing dividend expense. Given all the uncertainty, investors are getting the chance to buy it at a dirt cheap valuation (a price-to-earnings ratio of just 16.4). Investors who believe the worst is over should consider buying the stock now. But if you want to give the turnaround more time to play out, it’s also reasonable to consider keeping UPS on a watch list. 10. FA Cup: Lack of video assistant referee technology felt in fourth round FA Cup: Lack of video assistant referee technology felt in fourth round Football fans have become accustomed to debating the use of technology in the game over recent years – but in the FA Cup fourth round, its absence has provided a frequent talking point. With video assistant referee technology only in use from the fifth round onwards this season, there have been a number of controversial incidents to dissect. Some liked VAR’s absence, such as Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler, whose side might have had their winner against Chelsea disallowed for a Tariq Lamptey handball. “But that’s it. That’s football,” he told BBC Sport. “With VAR, football is getting not that emotional like it was today. “Everyone agrees with me that today was a great atmosphere. You can celebrate a goal because you are certain it’s a goal. I’m happy it was like that.” Some were less convinced, including his Chelsea counterpart Enzo Maresca – whose side might still be in the FA Cup with VAR. “I think the handball is quite clear. In the last two or three days, there were many different moments in different games that, without VAR, sometimes are more complicated,” said Maresca. However he added: “Sometimes even with VAR, you never know if it’s [going to be given as] handball or not. I don’t know. This season we saw so many handballs and the VAR was not there.” Even Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim admitted Harry Maguire’s dramatic late winner against Leicester City in the round’s first tie on Friday was offside and should not have stood. There were several further high-profile incidents during Saturday’s matches, and there are still five games to be played over the next three days. 11. Lille follow French Cup exit with more humiliation Lille follow French Cup exit with more humiliation Four days after their humiliating French Cup exit, Lille have completed a week to forget with a 2-1 loss at home to last-placed Le Havre in the French league. Goals in each half from Egypt forward Kouka and Senegalese striker Issa Soumare helped Le Havre end their nine-game winless run across all competitions and climb off the bottom of the table until Sunday at least, when fellow strugglers Montpellier visit Strasbourg. Lille substitute Chuba Akpom scored on his league debut in the seventh minute of stoppage time but it was too little, too late for the home team. Lille have exceeded expectations in the Champions League, where they last week thrashed Feyenoord 6-1 to qualify directly for the knockout phase. But on Tuesday, the team squandered a 2-0 lead against second-tier Dunkerque in the French Cup, before losing the penalty shootout. Lille dropped to fifth in the French league on Saturday after their fourth defeat of the season. Earlier Saturday, Nice capitalised on Monaco’s defeat the night before to move third with a 2-0 win over 10-man Lens. Ill-discipline cost the visitors dearly as Adrien Thomasson conceded an early penalty for a foul on Hicham Boudaoui. Gaëtan Laborde duly scored from the spot. Lens defender Fucundo Medina was sent off with his second yellow card in the 57th and Jonathan Clauss sealed the win against his ex-club seven minutes later. Monaco lost 4-1 at league leaders Paris Saint-Germain on Friday. Rennes substitute Mahamadou Nagida scored late to seal a 2-0 win at Saint-Etienne in the late game, giving the team’s new coach, Habib Beye, two wins from two games in charge. Nagida, a 19-year-old defender from Cameroon, scored almost immediately after entering in the 84th minute for his second goal in as many appearances. Arnaud Kalimuendo’s early goal got Rennes off the mark at Saint-Etienne. Beye is the ambitious Brittany club’s third coach this season after Jorge Sampaoli and Julien Stephan. Rennes spent more than 70 million euros in the winter transfer window. The win over Saint-Etienne lifted the team from 15th to 11th. Ten confirmed dead in Bering Air accident Ten confirmed dead in Bering Air accident Watch: Timelapse shows low visibility at time Alaska plane drops off radar Crews are still working to recover the bodies of 10 people killed in a plane ****** in Alaska, officials have said. Jennifer Homendy, chair of the National Transportation Safety Board, said the investigation into the ****** was in its “early stages” and it was too soon to tell what caused it. The Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft, operated by regional operator Bering Air, was travelling from Unalakleet to Nome on Thursday when it lost radar contact. Nine passengers and a pilot were on board the plane when it came down in Norton Sound about 34 miles (55km) south-east of Nome, a city of about 3,500 on Alaska’s west coast. Among the dead were Rhone Baumgartner and Kameron Hartvigson, two employees of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. They had travelled to Unalakleet to carry out maintenance work on a water plant, the non-profit organisation said on Friday. Ms Homendy said that nine investigators are on the scene, backed up by specialists in Washington DC. “Recovery efforts are still under way, with the priority being victim recovery,” she said during a news conference in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city. “I would like to take a moment and expend our deepest condolences to people who lost loved ones in this tragedy,” she said. Ms Homendy said recovery workers were dealing with deteriorating weather conditions and that the wreckage had landed on an ice floe which is moving at a rate of five miles a day. In a statement, Bering Air, which operates commercial and charter flights, expressed its condolences and said it would be cooperating with the investigation into the ******. Reuters The US Coast Guard released this photo of the wreckage Alaska State Troopers said it had been notified of an “overdue” aircraft at 16:00 local time on Thursday (01:00 GMT). The Nome volunteer fire department said the pilot had told air traffic controllers that “he intended to enter a holding pattern while waiting for the runway to be cleared”. The US Coast Guard later said the plane had experienced a rapid loss in altitude and speed before contact was lost. Footage showed low visibility in the area around the time of the ******. Alaskan Senator Lisa Murkowski shared her condolences following the incident. “Alaska is a big small town. When tragedy strikes, we’re never far removed from the Alaskans directly impacted,” she wrote online. Alaska’s Governor, Mike Dunleavy, said he was “heartbroken” by the disappearance of the flight. “Our prayers are with the passengers, the pilot, and their loved ones during this difficult time,” he said. 14. Zellsis’ Interview After Incredible Game Against MIBR Zellsis’ Interview After Incredible Game Against MIBR The VALORANT scriptwriters for VCT Americas brought back a favorite from last season. Sentinels have qualified for the first Masters event of the year after a hot start at Kickoff, thanks to a masterful performance from Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro in the lower final versus MIBR. Known to some fans as the “vibes merchant” or just the Sentinels’ bundle salesman, Zellsis had his best individual series performance in years against MIBR. After the series in which he got just his second ace in VCT, the former Sentinels sub turned superstar spoke to Insider Gaming on his otherworldly performance, his progression as an emotional leader, and the things the team still needs to improve. The following interview has been edited slightly for clarity and length. IG: A stupendous series from you against MIBR. What was the key to your performance? Zellsis: It has to be my teammates. Usually I’m the one that has to come in and keep everyone’s mood up, lift the energy, everything like that. And I kind of did not do that [today], I was just mellow, I kept my vibes neutral and focused on the game, instead of bashing my head against the wall like I usually do to keep emotions up. My teammates started off the series with really good energy, so it made my job a little bit easier. When we got to Split though, I got a bit more amped because we loss a very intense [game of] Pearl, so I wanted us to get a bit more hype. But my teammates are insane as well; if I had brought the mood, one of them would have picked up the shooting. IG: Speaking of that Pearl, we saw a little bit of frustration from you after that knife from Aspas, and then some disappointed faces from the team after the map ended. How did you and the team recover after those moments? Yeah, on the 1v2 I kind of raged. I was just very into the series, I did not want to lose. There were a lot of rounds that should have gone our way, and a lot of rounds where I messed up some key things. I knew one guy was Pit and one was Art, and I just whiffed and got very frustrated in the heat of the moment. All smiles in SEN City. Photo by Colin Young-Wolff/Riot Games The MVP of vibes was N4RRATE. He was phenomenal today in keeping the vibes up, micro calling for people, and calling out mistakes. I think that’s a big thing that we’re starting to learn on stage together. We need to be calling each other out more when ***** goes wrong. None of us are babies, we can fix it in the moment, and if you can’t, then you obviously don’t want to win. IG: You spoke the other day about your emotional maturity improving and “clicking” over these past couple years. Are there other players or coaches that helped you get better? All my coaches have always looked at me to be the leader on all my teams from Immi on Version1, to mCe on Cloud9, to now kaplan on Sentinels. They heavily rely on me being the emotional leader for everyone. People who know me know I’m very honest, I’m very brute, and I don’t beat around the bush. But I never try to put someone down when I’m saying something, it’s all about getting better and improving and making sure we’re in the right spot to win. On C9, when vanity and yay left, mCe forced me to be more of a leader. When we got runi and jakee, we needed a huge voice on that C9 roster. We had the talent, we just didn’t have a lot of voices, we didn’t have a lot of decisive decision-making. And whether I wanted it to be me or not, mCe forced me into that and we had a lot of one-on-ones, and it kind of just spiraled me into always having to be like that now. And I’m not complaining, it’s made me a better player overall and a more complete player overall. I can control my emotions more. I can control when I talk about mistakes more and everything like that. IG: Do you feel your leadership role has increased this year after the departures of Sacy and TenZ? I definitely think we lack a little bit in high pressure mid-rounding situations. Sacy didn’t really do a lot of micro mid-rounding, but his blueprint of playing the game was fundamentally the right way to play the game. And that’s what he would kind of bring: “Okay, they’re doing this, we need to be doing this.” He just plays culturally differently than a lot of Americas teams. [NA teams] are always rushing, taking ones, whereas I feel like Brazilian teams always played fundamentally sound and he’s always played like that. So he brought that to this team when he played with us. I think with this team, we’re definitely missing a little bit of that discipline that he brought us. But we’re working on it. IG: What does it say about this team to be able to rebound from such a lopsided loss to G2 and qualify for Masters Bangkok? I think people need to remember we haven’t been a team [with this roster] that long. We’ve changed roles, we’ve changed so much to fit this team. And we’re still so young, I mean I’m 26 turning 27, John’s 26 turning 27. And then the drop off is insane: N4RRATE’s 22, bang is 20, and zekken is 19. There’s so much more re: mental and maturity to work on, but we all want to win and we work hard. I can confidently say this team is one of the hardest working teams I’ve ever been on, from the coaching staff to the players. Can Zellsis and Sentinels claim another trophy this year? 15. Six Nations: England pluck victory from chaos against France Six Nations: England pluck victory from chaos against France “Make some noise for your England!” The pitchside hype man needn’t have worried. The 81,000 inside Allianz Stadium had been doing exactly that for the final rounds of an epic, see-sawing contest and weren’t about to stop as Maro Itoje, Tom Curry and their battle-battered team-mates used their last drop of energy to salute the stands. There was jubilation, vindication and a fair bit of relief in the decibels. England fans are used to their teams putting them through the wringer. Three tries in the final 10 minutes? The lead swapping hands faster than an ambidextrous dog-walker? This is standard fare in the wild, wild south-west of London nowadays. The last Six Nations match here was a victory over Ireland settled by a Marcus Smith drop-goal at the death. In the autumn, George Ford was the width of a post from doing the same to New Zealand. A week later against Australia, the Wallabies won a 79-point, 10-try rafter-ripper on the final play. Some of the Twickenham scripts would have been shredded as too outlandish by a telenovela writers’ room. But, after six defeats in their past seven Tests, an England victory was the oh-so welcome twist this time around. Finally, England have the salve of victory to ease some tired bodies and minds. The hosts’ effort and commitment has been evident through that rotten run. Perspiration has come by the gallon. Inspiration coming in far shorter measures has been the problem. This wasn’t loads in this performance either. France, who carried further and made more line breaks, were the more consistently dangerous. They were also criminally – and crucially – casual in their handling. Louis Bielle-Biarrey, scorer of two tries, butchered another with a nonchalant pass slung over the top of Peato Mauvaka. Damian Penaud juggled and spilled a dolly. Even in the build-up to their opening try, Mauvaka carelessly dropped the ball out his back pocket. 16. Ange ready to lean on teen as Spurs face Villa in Cup Ange ready to lean on teen as Spurs face Villa in Cup Ange Postecoglou is poised to hand teenage French recruit Mathys Tel his first start for injury-riddled Tottenham at Aston Villa. Tel was brought on for his debut in the first half of the 4-0 thrashing at Liverpool on Thursday in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup after Richarlison sustained a fresh calf injury. Richarlison has joined fellow forward Dominic Solanke on the treatment table and this will force Postecoglou’s hand in attack ahead of a crucial FA Cup fourth-round tie at Villa Park on Sunday (Monday AEDT). Tel only made four starts for Bayern Munich during the first half of the season, which resulted in the France Under-21 international seeking a January move and Postecoglou will try to manage the 19-year-old’s minutes. “For himself and (fellow recent recruit) Kevin (Danso) in many respects, it wasn’t an indication of how we want to go about things, but just being out there, playing your first game, you get that out of your system,” Postecoglou reflected. “We’re going to have to lean on Mathys a fair bit now, but he came here to play. “His physical condition is not too bad. He hasn’t played a lot but watching him in training and (Thursday) night, he was still moving quite well. “We have to be careful with him also, but he came here to play and he’ll get an opportunity to do that.” Postecoglou has limited resources for the quick turnaround to Villa with 12 players set to be absent, including Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson and Solanke. It has resulted in extended opportunities for talented teenage summer recruits Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, while 17-year-old Mikey Moore has also earned regular minutes this term. The number of young players already being used by Postecoglou means he is loathe to put more in from the club’s academy set-up, especially in such high-pressure situations. He added: “We’ve already got young players out there. There’s 18-year-olds, 19-year-olds, 17-year-olds out there. “We saw what happened (Thursday) and our players are now getting criticised. Most of them will be able to handle it, but I wouldn’t want to expose a young player to something like that, especially the way the world is today. “You know we don’t want to make determinations in a snap instance and destroy careers. I’m not going to expose young players who I don’t think are ready for that, so we don’t have the opportunity to rotate. “I think it will be a similar kind of team that rolls out on Sunday. We’ve been doing this for quite a while now for the last three months and we have handled that pretty well at times and that’s what we will try and do on Sunday.” Source link #Ange #ready #lean #teen #Spurs #face #Villa #Cup Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  19. Trump Enrages Christian MAGA By Naming ‘Heretic’ Pastor to White House Trump Enrages Christian MAGA By Naming ‘Heretic’ Pastor to White House President Donald Trump angered some of his Christian supporters on Friday when he named a televangelist who even some conservative evangelicals have labeled a “heretic” as part of his White House administration. The president signed an executive order establishing a White House Faith Office and chose Pastor Paula White-Cain, his ally and spiritual advisor, to lead it. White-Cain, 58, is a megachurch preacher from Florida who has endorsed biblical interpretations that some evangelical Christians believe go too far. White is the longtime personal spiritual advisor to Trump. / NICHOLAS KAMM / AFP via Getty Images She is a proponent of “prosperity theology,” which teaches that God rewards the truly faithful with material wealth and personal success. Critics say that by blaming financial woes on a lack of faith, prosperity theology can be used to exploit vulnerable churchgoers. Many Christians consider it a form of heresy, according to The New York Times. Some of Trump’s Christian MAGA supporters took to social media to express their disappointment in the president’s pick. “Even though President Trump is enforcing laws that line up with our values, that doesn’t mean he has any clue what biblical Christianity is or why it matters,” Christian podcast host John Mason wrote on X. “Paula White is a known heretic and known false teacher who has no regard for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” Scott Ross, a Texas-based leadership coach and self-described “Orthodox Christian,” called the move “an abomination.” “Paula White, head of Trump’s White House Faith Office, is no Christian leader,” he wrote. “She preaches the heresies of Word of Faith & Prosperity Gospel, both utterly opposed to authentic Christianity. Worse, she has lived a life of scandal, with multiple husbands, twisting the Gospel for profit.” White-Cain, who is twice-divorced, is currently married to Journey guitarist Jonathan Cain. “Arguably, this is the worst and most dangerous thing President Trump has done—putting a false teacher at the helm of faith outreach. Lord, have mercy on our country and this administration,” Ross added. Conservative commentator Jon Root, who typically posts in support of Trump, wrote, “This is the worst decision President Trump has made since taking office… Paula White is a heretic, who pedals the prosperity gospel. Plus, women should not be pastors according to The ******.” White-Cain first caught Trump’s attention in 2002, when the then-businessman called her up after seeing her long-running TV show, Paula White Today. White-Cain was also a White House advisor during Trump’s first administration and gave the invocation address at his inauguration in 2017. In 2020, as Trump was pushing the lie that the presidential election had been rigged against him, White-Cain held emergency prayer sessions to fight the “demonic confederacies” trying to steal the election from him. A press release announcing White-Cain’s new role reads, “In the last 40 years, White-Cain has expanded her influence globally in almost 200 countries, ministering, fighting for religious freedom and humanitarian rights, and advocating for the voiceless.” Source link #Trump #Enrages #Christian #MAGA #Naming #Heretic #Pastor #White #House Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  22. Why Do People Think High-Fructose Corn Syrup Is Worse Than Sugar? Why Do People Think High-Fructose Corn Syrup Is Worse Than Sugar? High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) has had a bit of a PR crisis in recent years, resulting in a decline in use. You’ll often hear how it’s more unhealthy than sugar and that food companies use it to cut costs at the expense of consumers’ health. The statement is partly true, as HFCS is an economical substitute for sugar, driven even more by subsidies on corn crops. However, the idea of it being more harmful than regular sugar may not hold much water. The present consensus is that it has pretty much the same nutritional value. Much of HFCS’s murky reputation can be attributed to fructose — a natural sugar that, along with glucose, is found in regular table sugar. Corn syrup is mostly glucose and is fortified by increasing the proportion of fructose to increase ********** since fructose is sweeter than glucose. Fructose has been linked to liver disease and other negative health outcomes like inflammation and fibrosis (via the International Journal of Molecular Sciences), making its presence a red flag. The type of HFCS most often used contains about 55% fructose while regular table sugar itself is 50% fructose, making the difference in fructose content between the two sweeteners almost negligible. Thus, the danger posed by most HFCS-containing foods is the same as that of any high-sugar processed food. The only true detrimental outcome seems to be that the easy availability and low cost of HFCS have proliferated the use of sweeteners even more. We’re now confronted with sugary foods from breakfast cereal (but don’t fall for the myth that all breakfast cereals are sugary) to the unhealthy ******** restaurant favorite, lemon chicken. Read more: 12 Foods You Probably Never Knew Were Bad For Blood Sugar Diet Makes The Real Difference In Health Outcomes Bowl of white table sugar – Digitalxpress/Getty Images Both HFCS and table sugar contain a mix of fructose and glucose and are, therefore, very similar in nutritional value as long as they have similar fructose levels. Some versions of HFCS have higher proportions of fructose and can, therefore, be more harmful. However, they are not as common. Generally, most sugary foods that contain fructose also contain other sugars and are heavy on calories, which makes it complicated to determine just how harmful fructose, and by extension, HFCS is compared to other sugars. The more significant determinant of health outcomes is the amount of sugary foods consumed, and therein lies the real danger of HFCS. Because of its low cost, HFCS seems to have promoted the use of sweeteners in much of the packaged food and drink industry. The presence of sugars in so many of our daily foods results in a diet high in sugars and calories. Luckily, hacks like repurposing leftover Halloween candy to make a trail mix can help keep sugar intake in check. Ultimately, the reason many believe HFCS to be worse than sugar is that the former gets saddled with all the baggage resulting from the harmful effects of consuming too much sugar and too many calories. Diabetes, obesity, and liver illness are a few of the negative effects of a sugary diet, but they can be caused by both HFCS and regular sugar. HFCS may have indirectly led to more sugar in our foods, but if you had to choose between a product with sugar versus HFCS, picking sugar wouldn’t necessarily be the healthier choice. Images show the bus completely burned out after it was engulfed by flames following the collision which happened in the early hours of Saturday morning near to the small city of Escárcega. Bus operator Tour’s Acosta said 48 passengers were onboard the vehicle – which had been travelling from Cancun to Tabasco – when it collided with a “trailer”. Tour’s Acosta added it was “profoundly sorry about what happened” and said it was working with authorities to find out the cause, adding that the bus had been travelling within speed limits. “The public ministry has informed us that the investigation will be taking effect in the prosecutor’s office of the municipality of Candelaria, Campeche, for this reason the relatives of our passengers and friends will have to go to this department to perform the relevant procedures,” Tour’s Acosta said on Facebook.
