  3. A super-secret quest found in FF14 7.35 after the completion of the new deep dungeon revisits one of the best characters in Shadowbringers and gives us a tantalizing taste of what might lie ahead. Carefully laid story threads have long been a big part of Final Fantasy 14's growth into one of the best MMORPGs ever made, and as we start to consider what might happen post-Dawntrail in the 8.0 expansion and beyond, it's good to see Square Enix and Creative Studio 3 continuing to reward those that scratch beneath the surface. 4. Battlefield 6 has enjoyed an enormous start on Steam, with over 740,000 concurrent players. At the time of this article’s publication, Battlefield 6 had 747,440 concurrent players on Steam. That’s enough to make EA’s new first-person shooter the second most-played game on Valve’s platform, behind only Counter-Strike 2. Battlefield 6 is already the 14th most-played game ever on Steam, with Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3 in its sights. For context, the Battlefield 6 open beta hit a peak concurrent player count of 521,079. No other Battlefield game has ever come close to these numbers on Steam before. Indeed, Battlefield 6 already has more players than EA's previous Steam record-holder, the free-to-play Apex Legends, which makes the $70 Battlefield 6's achievement all the more impressive. And if you’re wondering, the Call of Duty app, which encompasses all Call of Duty games, has a peak concurrent player count of 491,670 on Steam, which means Battlefield 6 is well on its way to doubling the record set by its FPS rival. The true concurrent player count will be much higher, when you consider players on PlayStation and Xbox, but neither Sony nor Microsoft make those numbers public. (This of course also counts for Call of Duty, which historically is stronger on console than PC.) Perhaps inevitably, Battlefield 6 players face server queues, although it doesn't take too long to log in right now. It’s early days, of course, but it looks like Battlefield 6 is a smash hit for EA. Battlefield 6 already has a huge number of players, but it also already has Call of Duty maps, with one eager fan recreating Modern Warfare favorite Shipment in Portal. 5. Battlefield 6 has been a huge hit on Steam, with over 700,000 simultaneous gamers playing it on the platform less than an hour after release. 6. Tea Garden is a classic euro board game, a mishmash of little systems, progress tracks, currencies, and doodads that offer the player a multitude of different ways to collect victory points. During a recent playthrough, one little system struck me as particularly interesting - not for its tactical challenge, but for how perfectly it married its mechanics and theme, something that eurogames notoriously ***** at. 7. Battlefield 6 is taking a unique approach to its weapon unlock system compared to what you might expect from its predecessors, mixing in both standard rank requirements and customized challenges for each class. Rather than being able to simply grind long enough to unlock everything Battlefield 6 has to offer, you'll need to adjust your playstyle and experiment with aspects of each class you might not have considered using before. 10. Absolum has four different characters available for the players, and you can unlock them all to enjoy more options. While the game offers you two picks by default, you can expand your roster pretty soon. The actual time taken will differ depending on how well you're doing on your run and the speed of your progression. This guide will provide you with all the required information about the full roster, before discussing who is the best character. How to unlock all characters in Absolum The table below has all the information you need to know to unlock all four characters in Absolum. CharacterHow to UnlockKarlAvailable by defaultGalandraAvailable by defaultCiderCider is the first of the two unlockable characters in Absolum. You'll find Gazog in an encounter, and then take him down. Gazog isn't the most demanding boss you'll come across; however, he can still dish out decent damage. Once you take care of Gazog, visit the Goblin Village. There, you'll need to assist Cider in a battle, and she will then become available for selection. BromeBrome is the second of two characters to unlock in the game. You'll encounter him in Jaroba and then help him in a battle to add him to your roster. It's fair to say that Brome will likely take a long time for you reach him. Which is the best character in Absolum Screenshot by Destructoid All four characters in Absolum have their unique playstyles, strengths, and weaknesses. You can clear the game with all of them. However, my favorite character is Galandra. She's available from the start, and her kit is better than that of Karl. Galandra's playstyle is highly suitable for every style of player. It does just the right amount of damage without being overpowered. Once you upgrade some of your Rituals from Vikhana, Galandra will definitely be the easiest character to master to clear the game. If you want to go for a ranged playstyle instead, go with Brome. His kit is pretty simple and fun to play for those who don't want to get too close to the enemies. And if things are too challenging, you can always change the difficulty from the settings. Like our content? 11. It feels like it was just yesterday that Sony hardware architect Mark Cerny was first teasing Sony's "PS4 successor" and its "enhanced ray-tracing capabilities" powered by new AMD chips. Now that we're nearly five full years into the PS5 era, it's time for Sony and AMD to start teasing the new chips that will power what Cerny calls "a future console in a few years' time." In a quick nine-minute video posted Thursday, Cerny sat down with Jack Huynh, the senior VP and general manager of AMD's Computing and Graphics Group, to talk about "Project Amethyst," a co-engineering effort between both companies that was also teased back in July. And while that Project Amethyst hardware currently only exists in the form of a simulation, Cerny said that the "results are quite promising" for a project that's still in the "early days." Mo’ ML, fewer problems? Project Amethyst is focused on going beyond traditional rasterization techniques that don't scale well when you try to "brute force that with raw power alone," Huynh said in the video. Instead, the new architecture is focused on more efficient running of the kinds of machine-learning-based neural networks behind AMD's FSR upscaling technology and Sony's similar PSSR system. 13. 93 current and former developers that worked at Mindseye studio Build A Rocket Boy have penned an open letter demanding change at the company. Criticizing management, the handling of layoffs, and high levels of overtime, the letter also directly calls on Leslie Benzies (who previously worked on the GTA games at Rockstar) and Mark Gerhard (formerly the CEO of Runescape studio Jagex) to reflect on "how you treat your own." Through a union, the group of ex-BARB devs are also filing "legal claims" against the company. Read the rest of the story... 18. Battlefield 6 has already made over $100 million in revenue on Steam alone, according to one industry analyst.
