  1. I liked Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun quite a bit. I'm not a huge Warhammer guy, but a straight-up boomer shooter I can quickly jump in and out of for a few minutes of blood and guts when the urge strikes? That's my jam. So I think it's very good news that more is on the way: During today's Warhammer Skulls Showcase, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 was officially announced and set for launch in 2026... If so, the headline already spoiled this for you, but I'm going to pretend like it hasn't: a sequel was just revealed at the Warhammer Skulls Showcase! The reveal trailer mostly shows off what looks like more of the first game, but with boomer shooters that look this good, I think that's just fine. Read more View the full article

  4. Recent tweaks to difficulty values across Doom: The Dark Ages make the game's experience that much more challenging. These changes don't detract from the considerable level of difficulty customization that Doom: The Dark Agesoffers, though, and fans remain free to fine-tune their game difficulties however they like. 13. Valheim developer Iron Gate has a new Deep North update for us as it continues to work on the next biome for the Viking survival game. The final region to be fleshed out of those included with the game's early-access launch, the Deep North is currently in development, but things have been quiet lately as rivals such as Rust, Ark, and Palworld unveil new regions and major patches. Thankfully, the Valheim maker promises that it's "very much still working on the game" despite not showing much of the Deep North publicly so far - and it has another big overhaul in the works for the meantime. 14. You only have a couple more weeks left to download one of the best PS Plus monthly games, and if you don't know anything about it, you're in for a real treat. It's a simple yet incredibly addictive, fun, and sometimes frustrating indie game that will definitely get you interested in the genre of deck-building if you aren't already. The fact it's available as a "free" monthly game is a little surprising, as this was a contender for 2024 GOTY. It captivated players and critics alike with its deceptively simple premise: poker meets rogue-like deck-building. View the full article

  16. The unthinkable has happened, folks: Monster Hunter Wilds, from the one and only Capcom, is collaborating with Street Fighter 6, also from the one and only Capcom. This won't be much of a surprise for many of you given that 1. Capcom own both titles and can arrange collabs like this pretty easily I assume and B. it's been teasing it for days now. That isn't to say the trailer showing off the crossover didn't have anything concrete, as it did confirm that you'll be able dress up as Street Fighter baddie Akuma. Read more View the full article

  18. It's been far too long since I played a good campaign mode in a military FPS. Battlefield 3 and the original, 2007 Modern Warfare remain the exemplars. If you want to go further back, and we're okay with including WW2 shooters, then Medal of Honor Allied Assault has to feature, and also the first MoH game from 1999. But recently, when it comes to great single-player stories in these kinds of games, the choices are few. Thankfully, the campaign for Team *****'s Delta Force revival has just opened up in a major way. Spiritually inspired by the classic ****** Hawk Down games, as well as the movie, you can finally play the tough, realistic military shooter solo, and with much-improved controls. 19. Microsoft has just released two new Witcher 3-themed Xbox controllers that look pretty awesome. Both Witcher 3 Special Edition 10th Anniversary Xbox Controllers are available now, exclusively from the Microsoft Store, in standard ($79.99) and Elite Series 2 ($169.99) versions. The reason for the release is because The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt turns 10 years old this month, which is pretty wild, at least for this fan of the game. Witcher 3 Special Edition 10th Anniversary Xbox Controllers The two controllers look very similar, with the same Geralt of Rivia-inspired etchings on them. The wolf medallian Geralt wears around his neck is etched into the center of the controller. The blog post announcing the controllers says they "also feature Glagolitic script, the oldest known Slavic alphabet and the same one found in the game itself." Finally, the right grip features the red claw marks that act as the "III" of the title on the cover of the game. It looks great. Aside from the Witcher-y design, the controllers act just like their standard counterparts. The current Xbox controller is far and away my personal favorite controller ever made. It feels terrific in hand and is sturdy enough to stand up to the beating my kids put on it. The Elite Series 2 model has some extra features to justify its added cost. It has adjustable-tension thumbsticks, hair trigger locks, and a wrap-around rubberized grip. It also has interchangeable components like thumbsticks of various heights, different D-pad designs, and rear paddles you can assign to whatever buttons you want. Like all new Xbox controllers, these controllers are compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android devices. If you're not an Xbox-exclusive household, you may also want to take a look at the new Death Stranding 2-themed PS5 controller that went up for preorder today. 20. The Second Galactic War has come home to Super Earth, and Helldivers 2 players are growing quite fond of their new battlefield comrades, the SEAF troops. The Illuminate invasion of Super Earth has begun the most dire story arc in the game's history, but it's also brought some wonderful new content, including Super Earth Armed Forces NPCs that fight alongside the Helldivers in the streets of Super Earth's mega cities. 21. There are two things I know about Andrzej Sapkowski: he wrote (and continues to write) the original Witcher novels, and he's a legendary grump. In fact, if I search our own website for the author's name, I find stories about him advising young writers to instead learn something "That makes money" like PC repair, saying he "never played" and does "not intend to play" The Witcher games, and other such things that seem like the hallmark of a—honestly, quite charming—grouchy author... 22. When is the Starsand Island release date? Combining the best elements of some of the greatest farming and life sims of all time, Starsand Island could be set to make a real mark on the genre. With fully customizable characters and buildings, pets, vehicles, dungeons, and the classic farming and fishing mechanics, there's a lot to do in Starsand Island, so prepare to embark on your dream island life. There's something about the quiet respite one gets from the real world when playing a farming sim game. Despite being considerable time sinks, games in this genre seem to be endlessly popular, and that has to be why. After a decade, Stardew Valley remains one of the most popular PC games ever. The Sims reigns in the life game genre thanks to its modular building mechanics. But what do you get when you combine them all with an anime game art style? Starsand Island, that's what.
