  1. Ark: Survival Ascended can already feel like an out-of-this-world experience, but one mod can make it into a true fantasy world. Ascended has done a good job capturing what made its predecessor good and expanding on it. Though it is not without faults, the game is unarguably a massive improvement. The title's success is helpful given that the highly anticipated sequel has faced considerable delays and still has no concrete launch date. Regardless, the upgraded title is still set to see more DLC in the near future. View the full article

  3. As the dust settles on Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6's Xbox Game Pass debut, subscribers should bear in mind that mid-November will also see several popular titles leaving the service. For months, Game Pass has been one of the best ways to experience the Like a Dragon franchise as the mainline games are included for all members to play. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end as two of the series' most underrated installments are bidding Xbox Game Pass farewell in the coming week. View the full article

  7. I'm pretty happy that I can direct you, without fuss, to the very free and criminally under-bought Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy. If that slick, '80s-infused action isn't for you, pick up a fedora (freely again) to slip into the patently awesome ******: Definitive Edition. Otherwise, I've scoured the stores for a wide range of other bargains. Get amongst them before they're gone. In retro news, I have something different for you. Typically I pick a yesteryear game of the day, drag out the console that hosted it, play it, and then post photos of that. Today, you can spot that stockpile of retro machines as I'm unboxing and adding a new entry to their midst—the PlayStation 5 Pro. This PS-provided unit is being used by me to evaluate 50+ "Pro Enhanced" titles. I'm going to filter the results of those tests (plus cheap ways to buy the test game in question) into these articles come Nov 7th. Had some fun with this unboxing. Plus a stroll down console memory lane. Enjoy. [Hidden Content] — Adam Mathew/GrizGaming (@Grizwords) November 4, 2024 This Day in Gaming - Colony Wars (PS) 1997. eBay - Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! 10. As with past BioWare RPGs, Dragon Age: The Veilguard places a heavy emphasis on the consequences of player choices, and the game oftens put players in a situation where they have to decide one way or another. These choices are provide an opportunity to roleplay and decide the nature of a character, but they can often also have gameplay and story repercussions that come into play later on, sometimes even impacting the main story in major ways. 11. It's been a very rocky road for Risk of Rain 2 over recent months. Once regarded as one of the finest roguelikes out there, on a par with The Binding of Isaac, ***** Cells, Hades, and Noita, it's definitely gone on to take a beating. Thankfully there's still hope for it, as its new developer is attempting to right the good ship Seekers of the Storm and set sail for calmer seas. That brighter future just took a step closer, in the form of a roadmap that shows exactly how the game will come back from the brink over the coming months. Read the rest of the story... 12. When you think of winning combinations in videogames, the partnership of meaty, satisfying combat and a heavy metal soundtrack is right up there as one of the best. The likes of Brutal Legend and Metal Hellsinger have proved that over the years, and now Munch is here to try and be the latest member of the band. With some hellish aesthetics and crunchy top-down combat, it looks the part - but intriguingly, it weaves in elements of Hades and even Pokémon into the mix too. Read the rest of the story... 14. Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 has gotten off to a pretty tremendous start, with its player numbers far outpacing those of both MW2 and MW3 when they first launched. 20. Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone finally brought update 1.6 to console and mobile devices today, but there’s one small issue – everyone’s chickens are going missing. The developer warned players about the poultry disappearances in a post on X/Twitter. He says that those who start a new meadowlands farm and open their animal door on day one will find that their chickens are vanishing. It’s a public service announcement that let’s players know that there's a small issue with update 1.6, and a fix is on the way. Until a follow-up patch arrives, ConcernedApe says players can blame their missing chickens on a sneaky coyote that only appears on day one. PSA: there is currently an issue, if you start a new farm on the meadowlands farm and open the animal door on the coop day 1, your chickens will disappear. If you leave the door closed for one day, it should save them. We will fix this. Lore: There is a wild coyote on the farm… — ConcernedApe (@ConcernedApe) November 4, 2024 It’s unclear when Stardew Valley will fix its missing chicken problem. In the meantime, update 1.6 brings a field of other changes and additions for those still digging into the massively popular, cozy farming sim. Following its arrival on PC this past March, the update dropped Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One today (you can see the full patch notes here), adding the ability to find lost items, use cheat commands on certain platforms, and more. ConcernedApe recommends players start a new farm to see everything update 1.6 has to offer, which is why it’s so important to make sure the word about that pesky coyote gets out there. We gave Stardew Valley a 10/10 in our updated 2024 review, calling it a “modern classic with an endless list of enticing activities to complete and a deeply satisfying time management challenge to take on.” For more on ConcernedApe’s farming masterpiece, you can read about how the creator only just managed to nab the game’s hardest achievement last week. 21. Mass Effect 2 quickly finds a way to separate Shepard from their original crew on the Normandy and give them a new group of allies, including Miranda. Eventually, Shepard reunites with some of their previous allies, and they learn more about the backgrounds and lives of each companion joining them on their missions through individual loyalty quests. While they each have parts of their past that make them unhappy, some details in Miranda's storyline have always left me a bit curious about both her views and the state of the beauty industry in the Mass Effect universe. 22. It's fair to say that Star Wars Outlaws hasn't quite managed to hit the highs we all might have hoped to see it achieve. While by no means a bad game, it definitely feels like it landed like an X-Wing on Dagobah rather than the firm crunch of the Millennium Falcon on Tatooine. That's not to say there isn't hope, however, as the game's canopy has yet to sink under the swamp waters. A new creative director at the top of the game has posted a fresh dev update, and there's plenty to look forward to for the title. Read the rest of the story...
