  3. We all know Baldur's Gate 3's mods have proven pretty popular since official support for them was added by Larian with Patch 7. The developer's gone out of its way to tell us just that, even letting us know just who we need to thank for contributing. Read more View the full article
  4. LG has just unveiled the Ultragear GX7 27GX790A, which is among the first gaming monitors to offer a massive 480Hz refresh rate at a 1440p resolution. We've seen several 500Hz+ gaming displays already, but these have had a 1080p resolution, so the move up to 1440p will mean a much sharper, super-fast image from this new LG OLED gaming monitor. Most games don't meaningfully benefit from such ludicrously fast refresh rates, but the best gaming monitor options for games such as Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Apex Legends, and Overwatch will all be those that can run essentially as fast as possible. And now, with this new LG panel, you'll get that speed as well as visual sharpness. Read the rest of the story... 7. A glitch in Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6 removes certain walls on the Nuketown map, forcing those who experience it to cheat or leave the game. Call of Duty has struggled with cheaters for years, despite the best efforts to combat them. While strides have been made against Call of Duty cheaters, they still exist, and the same goes for Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6. View the full article
  8. Making a banana split in Disney Dreamlight Valley is worth learning in case one of your villagers has a real craving. It's a 5-star meal, so it's a pretty valuable recipe to have on hand should you find yourself in a pinch and desperately need some Star Coins. But, even though it sounds like a simple recipe to recreate, there are a few curveballs that are bound to throw you off and result in a fruit salad instead... Read more.View the full article
  9. The action-strategy game Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess ******* to meet sales expectations, according to Capcom. Released for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox in July, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess was quickly praised by critics and players alike for its art style and combat, though this unfortunately didn't translate to revenue for the company. 10. Fields of Mistria has been one of my most-loved games this year despite still being a relatively humble early access offering. 11. Image: Richard Varda If you’re nostalgic for the era of lugging your desktop to a friend’s house to play Unreal Tournament, software engineer Kenton Varda doesn’t have exactly the solution — but he thinks he has something better. The Cloudflare Workers tech lead has spent more than three years and at least a million dollars to transform his Austin house into the ultimate local PC gaming pad, complete with 22 machines and a dedicated hardware room. It’s dubbed the LAN Party House, and you’re probably not invited. LAN (short for local area network, as many readers likely know) parties were the best option for “online” gaming in the era of dial-up internet. While some are large-scale events, Varda’s house is aimed at having groups of friends drop by, pull a... Continue reading… View the full article
  12. I'm still bumbling, tumbling and blundering through the cavernous labyrinths of first-person spelunking sim Lorn's Lure, in which you are an android exploring a series of enormous machines and sunken artificial habitats. I hope one day to level up from "bumbling, tumbling and blundering" to "running and jumping". Perhaps I'll even get as far as "speedrunning". But in the likely event that I plateau at "blundering", it's a relief to know that developer Rubeki Games has updated the game with an Explore Mode that makes certain sections dramatically easier. 14. When League of Legends released over a decade ago, everything was a lot simpler. There were only a select amount of items, no massive map changes to worry about, and over 100 champions still to come. Throughout its first year, Riot Games introduced 42 champions, from hulking front-line tanks, fast-******* AD carries, sneaky assassins, powerful mid lane mages, and more. There were clear roles, a much more basic meta, and a ton of fun as players explored the game for the first time. View the full article

  17. Warhammer 40k Ork players and actual Warhammer 40k Orks have one thing in common - they love to build unique, ramshackle devices from piles of scrap. 19. It looks as though it's the end of the road for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070, as production is reportedly being wound up to make way for the next generation of Blackwell GPUs. If this latest rumor is to be believed, then RTX 4070 production will stop before the end of 2024, and is already being slowed down. We're expecting Nvidia to launch its new RTX 5000 range of graphics cards at the CES tradeshow in January 2025, and it's now looking as though the RTX 5070 will be a part of the launch lineup, even if it ends up being released a few weeks later than the RTX 5090. If Nvidia is indeed winding up production of the RTX 4070, that would suggest the RTX 5070 is waiting in the wings. Read the rest of the story... 21. Stim Shots have been nerfed in Call of Duty: Warzone as part of the game's latest patch, cutting down on players' overall speed after using the tool. Among various updates to audio and other balancing changes, the Stim Shot, a tactical item that grants health regeneration, has been updated to address an issue that gave players double the intended speed boost after using it. While small, this change could alter the way players think about the item during their next Call of Duty: Warzone match. View the full article

  24. Despite being steeped in Forgotten Realms lore, Baldur's Gate 3 endeavors to make itself approachable for new players. It goes to great lengths to provide concise lore drops and explanations for characters connected to past events, like the fall of Netheril and Sarevok's conquest of Baldur's Gate. One event in particular warrants plenty of explanation, that being the fall of Elturel into Avernus, something that actually happened during an established Dungeons & Dragons module before BG3 takes place.
