  2. Mass Effect 5 is bringing the game back to the Milky Way Galaxy, which means that the events of the original trilogy are going to be more important moving forward than they were when the series took a trip to visit Andromeda. However, returning the series to its roots means that the developers will have to choose which ending is the canon ending of Mass Effect 3, even though many players found this part of the trilogy to be lackluster. Alternatively, there's a way to continue the story of the original trilogy without having to pick one of the endings. View the full article

  5. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle tells a great story without relying on past Indiana Jones plots, but one film that never came to be could be a great source of inspiration for the next video game experience. With five films released across the span of over forty years, it's no surprise that some plot treatments didn't end up making it all the way to the big screen. What might not be good for a movie can still be good for a game, and diverting from the established formula might be a fun way to follow up The Great Circle. View the full article
  6. A post from a Borderlands fan on an iconic character's name has shed light on a clever pun that many players are now realizing. Rhys Strongfork, who made his debut in Tales from the Borderlands and would go on to feature in Borderlands 3, has a name that parodies iconic Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon. 9. The Domination Victory in Civilization 6 is one of the most basic victories in the game, but in Civilization 7, a Military Victory is more meaningful and nuanced. A Domination Victory is very straightforward in Civ 6 and requires a complete scorched-earth approach in terms of strategy, which makes it appealing in some respects, but ultimately does not match the level of planning or strategizing required for other Victory types such as Science, Culture, or even Religion. Civilization 7's overhauled gameplay mechanics include a major update to the militaristic victory option that includes Ideologies and planning across the Ages. View the full article
  10. Command and Conquer. StarCraft Brood War. Age of Empires 2. The history of the PC is filled with magnificent, memorable RTS games - but I'll always have a particular affection for Total Annihilation, and for its creator Chris Taylor's superb spiritual successor Supreme Commander. First launched in 2007, it remains one of the best strategy games to this day. Whether you missed out at the time or fancy revisiting a classic, you can get Supreme Commander and its fantastic Forged Alliance expansion for just $4 right now. Read the rest of the story... 17. When you’re in the heat of a Marvel Rivals match, few things are as satisfying as a perfectly executed ultimate. That is, until you’re on the receiving end of a move so overpowered it feels like your controller’s been unplugged. A recent Reddit thread is lighting up with frustrated players calling for two particularly pesky ultimates to be nerfed—hard. The conversation started with a player posting, “Everyone waiting on that Hela Hawkeye nerf, I want this girl’s ult to suffer some,” alongside a crystal-clear image of Luna Snow. And yeah, I get it. Luna’s ult, Fate of Both Worlds, is absolutely game-changing—and not in a fun way for the opposition. View the full article
  18. Videogames and professional wrestling have a long and storied history. WWF No Mercy and SmackDown Shut Your Mouth are some of the best wrestling games out there, and I'd argue they've not been topped in the two decades since. There have been plenty of ways for us to step into the virtual squared circle over the years, but this isn't where the relationship ends. Plenty of professional wrestlers have made their love for videogames known when entering the ring, and this latest display pulls on several legends, especially from Final Fantasy 14, in surprising ways. 22. Blowing things up is one of the most fun parts of Terraria, and sandbox games in general, so solo indie developer 'Perfoon' decided to make it the core of the experience. Blastronaut is a 2D blend of platforming, mining, base building, upgrading gear, and combat. Rather than gradually tinking your way through the dirt and rocks with a pickaxe, however, you employ explosive gel, bombs, and lasers to carve through the environment and enemies alike. The game's first update of 2025 introduces a new biome featuring mysterious ****** holes, as Perfoon details a full roadmap towards its launch out of early access. Read the rest of the story... 23. 2025 is a big year for the tactical FPS and extraction genre. Stalwarts like Escape From Tarkov are still finding success, while newer releases like Gray Zone Warfare and Delta Force are trying to carve out their permanent spot on the podium. Then there's Arena Breakout Infinite. With early access well underway and a Steam release planned, developer MoreFun Studios has some big ABI plans for this year. 25. Fallout New Vegas remains the darling child of the series. Obsidian's creation might not have quite the bombast and scope of Bethesda's entries, but its narrative, world-building, and characters make it one of the most beloved RPGs on PC to this day. Even better, play it in 2025 and most of its uneven spots - of which there are quite a few - are smoothed over with mods. Continuing that trend, a new addition to the lineup has just completely overhauled melee combat, making now an ideal time to check in on the fan-favorite game after the success of the Fallout show on Prime.
