  3. Weapon-breaking is a major part of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle's approach to combat, but as luck would have it, there's at least one complete exception to this rule. Although fragile weapons can be a controversial feature in many games, The Great Circle generally makes great use of the concept. Even if a sledgehammer falling apart after a few hits doesn't make very much sense, it adds a lot of impact to the melee, and constantly swapping out weapons makes for an engaging scavenging process and a fun sense of variety. 4. One Elden Ring fan has challenged themselves with what most would say is an impossible task: defeating Messmer without getting hit every day until Nightreign releases. The new title was revealed at last year's The Game Awards, coming as quite a surprise considering developer FromSoftware's past comments regarding the franchise. To build up hype, and presumably get some practice in, one fan will be defeating Elden Ring's Messmer until Nightreign is released in 2025. View the full article

  7. Last year we reported on a phenomenon that, frankly, left PC Gamer's editorial team a little baffled. We were in one of our morning meetings when someone shared Banana, a free-to-play game available on Steam where you click on an image of a banana, but what was mind-blowing were the player counts. This was in May 2024 and, at the time, tens of thousands of players were just… clicking away on bananas... Read more.View the full article

  12. Player counts are dropping for Call of Duty: ****** Ops 6, with the game seeing an almost 50% decrease on platforms like Steam. These drops have come despite several new pieces of content, namely Call of Duty's latest collaboration with Netflix's Squid Game. 13. Destiny players notice that the Tower zone received a mysterious and surprising update, complete with lights and decorations, seven years later. 14. An upcoming life sim which claims to be a competitor to Grand Theft Auto VI is continuing to amass followers and wishlists on Steam, despite the game being unmasked as a vehicle for a dodgy cryptocurrency. Paradise is marketed as a third-person game set in a sunny modern city, where you can speak to any NPC via microphone on the street and get stilted responses powered by artificial intelligence. You will supposedly drive sports cars, shoot guns at people, and accrue in-game cash. But its more outlandish claims attracted immediate scrutiny from video creators who found countless inconsistencies in the marketing material. The game has since been removed from the Epic Games Store, presumably for breaking many of the store's rules. But it's still on Steam, and somehow clambering steadily up the wishlist ladder in defiance of its many red flags. Read more View the full article

  24. The sound of an old radio playing music in a ruined world is a key part of the modern Fallout experience. In Fallout 4, Diamond City Radio offers a diverse but often repetitive mix of songs that matches the struggles of life in the Commonwealth. Its rockabilly style and the nervous chatter of Travis Miles add character, creating a sense of community in the aftermath of disaster. However, it doesn’t quite capture the charm of the previous game’s radio, Radio New Vegas. That station wasn't just a collection of old songs; it created a unique atmosphere that really fit the Mojave Wasteland. View the full article
