Valve's Steam Deck with SteamOS has been consistently in the top sales charts on Steam since release, but recently it dropped down rather hard following the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement. Read the full article here: [Hidden Content] View the full article
You'd think Talha and Jack Co would have earned themselves a nice custard cream and a sit down after having just released Judero last September, but they're back already with a crowdfunder for Mashina - a robo-stuffed adventure where you'll "Dig, build, discover and mend in a chill, stop-motion world." Now I think about, you could probably eat quite a lot of custard creams in five months, although less so if you were using your hands to build model robots. Have a trailer. It's got robots in it. You know the drill. The match is getting heated, the chat is blowing up, and all eyes seem to be on you. You’re doing your best—running heals, dodging enemy fire, trying not to scream when your diver throws themselves into the fray with no backup—but somehow, it’s still your fault when the team wipes. This is the life of a Strategist main in Marvel Rivals, where the blame game is a time-honored tradition. While Strategists are used to shouldering a lot of responsibility, Reddit user Thanos-Is-Right (interesting choice of username) has had enough of the endless complaints about their pick. Taking to the Marvel Rivals subreddit to air their frustrations after a rough 13-minute match, Thanos-Is-Right talks out their teammates insisting they swap to a “better” Strategist because, apparently, picking Loki is a “throw” choice. (Cue eye-roll.) View the full article

Tales of Kenzera developer Surgent Studios has announced it will partner with Palworld publisher Pocketpair for its next project, which will be a “short horror” game. The project won’t be set in the Tales of Kenzera universe, and won’t be related to Project Uso, the in-development title that studio boss Abubakar Salim showed off to VGC last year. The new horror game is set to be released later this year. The game will be the first title published by Pocketpair publishing, a new label from the Palworld developers. Read More... Back in December, a bunch of cool games had the extreme impoliteness to sneak onto digital shelves while we were losing our hair, souls and marbles covering various gaming award shows. One of those games was Escape From Castle Matsumoto - which can be excused, admittedly, because it's a game about ninjas, and we expect ninjas to be sneaky. Read more View the full article
The creators of All Will Fall are pariahs, as far as I'm concerned. You should warn you children to avoid them. If you encounter them in the street, you should jerk away with a muttered oath, making a sign to avert evil spirits - for these are the scumbags who've decided to develop a city-building game in which all the buildings and building materials are subject to realworld physics. A city-building game that takes place on small, post-apocalyptic islands, where the only way to expand is upward. "Playing Jenga with human lives" is how they summarise it, the wastrels. Here's a trailer. Read more View the full article
A big part of simulating life in The Sims 4 is getting a dream job and earning promotions over time with hard work. Sometimes, however, to create your dream world, it's more fun to get to a desired career level or position than to work on climbing the corporate ladder. Thankfully, unlike in the real world, Sims 4 players don't have to wait and grind to achieve their career dreams; they can use cheats instead. View the full article
Celeste and Towerfall creators Extremely OK Games have announced the cancellation of their pixelart exploration platformer Earthblade, in what studio director Maddy Thorson calls a "huge, heartbreaking, and yet relieving failure". The decision to call it quits follows a bust-up within the development team, though this isn't, apparently, why they pulled the plug. Thorson and programmer Noel Berry have found making something "******* and better" than Celeste exhausting, and have decided to work on smaller projects in future. Read more View the full article
Cyberpunk 2077 has seemingly completed its journey with the release of the Phantom Liberty DLC and various updates that have markedly improved the player experience since its somewhat disastrous launch. Now that players have sunk dozens if not hundreds of hours into the core Cyberpunk 2077 experience, clearing up every Gig, NCPD Scanner Hustle, and side quest, they'll be looking to the next entry in the soon-to-be series. If you thought January was a bit dry for amazing new games and that all the good stuff would begin to roll out in February, think again. After a stint in early access, Metroidvania sequel Ender Magnolia has just hit 1.0 and it's drowning in praise. Today, I've got an eclectic gaggle of deals for you to play through over the weekend. There's a VR-y decent BYO Bundle for the headset-inclined, an Erdtree Edition for the masochists among you, and a bunch of CoDs (old and new) worth catching. Failing that, score some cut-price LEGO, because I'm obsessed with that also. In retro news, I'm celebrating the 28th birthday of Kirby Super Star, a SNES...er, super...star that we called Kirby's Fun Pak down under. The inclusion of two-player co-op was an uncommon feature in platformers of this age, so a neighbourhood pal and I were all about slowly unlocking and smashing through this eight-game omnibus at launch. In particular, we had a blast in Spring Breeze (Kirby's Dream Land abridged) and The Great Cave Offensive (a Metroidvania filled with Nintendo stablemate references). That mechanic of P1 swallowing an enemy and then vomiting out a helper minion controlled by P2? Timelessly cool. It doesn't feel like it's been almost seven years since Celeste blew us all away with its gorgeous, memorable platforming. It's still talked about as one of the best indies ever. With that kind of reputation, there's naturally been a lot of buzz around the next project from developer EXOK (previously Maddy Makes Games), Earthblade. However, in a surprise announcement from studio head Maddy Thorson, the promising Metroidvania platformer has been canceled due to a "fracture" in the studio and a general lack of passion for the project. A recent leak in the Genshin Impact community has revealed that Version 5.5 could introduce a second batch of Artifact Sets in Natlan, after a hiatus of four updates. While Genshin Impact is known for having a very strict schedule for content updates, there is an argument to be made that Natlan has been an exception in this regard. Version 5.2 launched with an Interlude instead of the final Act of Natlan's Archon Quest, while Version 5.3 and Version 5.4 have both skipped adding a map expansion to the new region.
