  1. If you're a fan of 4X strategy games, you'll probably have already read through our review of Civilization 7 and perhaps my performance analysis of the game, too. As any strategy enthusiast will know, such games are almost never about the graphics and instead focus on complex AI algorithms, which test your abilities as a gamer. This inevitably means the most important part of your PC becomes the CPU, as it handles all of that. And the more capable your processor is, the smoother the gameplay will be... 2. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is one of the funniest games I've played in a while. I'll slap that right at the top of this review. It's a game unafraid to be crass, vulgar, and filthy. Make no mistake, though, the game is not afraid to throw political intrigue, heaps of history, and real tear-jerker moments at you. Forget Eurojank; this here is a certified Eurogem. 3. Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 brings back familiar characters from previous chapters, such as Poppy, Kissy Missy, and Ollie, but it also introduces new characters, one of whom the player has heard about in-game prior to the latest chapter. In fact, Chapter 4 includes more characters that aren't enemies than any previous chapter, showing that the lower levels of Playtime Co. are their own world. However, the player isn't lucky enough to only meet allies in the depths of the factory. View the full article
  4. Minecraft recently dropped pig variants into beta, giving porkly variants in cold and warm climates. The other barnyard animals were presumably breighing and neighing from the neglect, but here comes a solution: cows are getting cold cow and warm cow variants, too. Read more View the full article
  5. After several hours of battles, sieges, imprisonment and torture in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, a groggy Henry of Skalitz is woken by a servant girl in a castle outside Kuttenberg. She greets him like a nobleman. I have Henry push back. He's a blacksmith's son. He might have some blue blood care of his biological father, but he grew up in the soot and clamour of the forge. The girl nervously insists, however: Henry must be from the upper crust, or he wouldn't have been welcomed and feasted by the lord of the estate. He wouldn't be lying in his very own chamber with its very own hole for ********* in - and in any case, it's more than her job's worth to treat him otherwise. In a timid, not quite spiteful show of reverse class policing, she refuses to end the dialogue until she's dismissed in a manner befitting her station. Read more View the full article
  6. I’m been perched in the bushes, listening to the dull conversation between a band of local bandits who have been terrorizing the nearby town. With moon above our heads, they slowly drift to their separate corners of the camp. The only sound left is the subtle crickets surrounding the camp, and the delicate drum of their breathes as the bandits sleep. The perfect moment. Taking out my knife, I slowly detach from the shadows, ready to strike; until I notice the sixth guard on patrol. I have to quickly pivot to my sword, preparing for a dangerous battle against the guard, or risk fighting them all at once. Everything can go wrong during a playthrough of Kingdom Come 2, and even when it does, it’s the most fun I’ve had in a medieval RPG in a long time. The first game scratched the survival game itch I wanted to experience within a narrative, and everything’s been giving a proper facelift for the sequel. Fans of the first one will be overjoyed about the continued story and the refined features, while newcomers will be delighted with the experience and feeling like they can jump right into a living, breathing world. 8. New Assassin’s Creed Shadows details are circulating online after scans of an upcoming art book were uploaded to a hentai site. Titled Art of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the 256-page book reportedly includes details about the game’s story, characters, locations, weapons and more, many of which were previously unknown. The leak was spotted by a Reddit user, who included links to its original source plus other locations where the scans can be viewed, although Assassin’s Creed publisher Ubisoft is attempting to get the images taken offline. 10. There was a moment in gaming history when it looked like all games would succumb to the dullest colours imaginable: brown and grey. Resident Evil 4, Fallout 3, Gears Of War - all bleary examples of a grubby visual style. This peaked in Clive Barker's Jericho, a shooter so desaturated it felt like the colour settings on your monitor were banjaxed. I have heard this called "the piss filter" and generally lamented in industry circles. But it was always a puposeful choice, intended to add some grittiness to the world. And there's at least one developer who is reviving "smeared dirt" as an art direction. As Time Surrenders is a very brown stealth game that takes a lot of inspiration from Metal Gear Solid V. 12. You look at Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, and the other visual design giants of the past ten years, and it's easy to argue that games today look 'better.' But it's not all about details and fidelity. Some of the games that remain most prominent in my memory are, by modern standards, hopelessly graphically outdated, the likes of Half-Life, Fallout 1, and Deus Ex. They have style, though. They have an aesthetic. Capturing the essence of a bygone ******* in PC history - as well as some of the fundamental mechanics of the FromSoftware canon - a new RPG already has almost perfect Steam reviews. A combination of Old School RuneScape, Elden Ring, Dark Souls, King's Field, and Elder Scrolls Arena, this is FlyKnight. Read the rest of the story... View the full article
  13. It looks as though we won't have long to wait for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 to arrive now, if this latest leak is to be believed. A presentation slide from Chaintech, a ******** hardware manufacturer that makes graphics cards for Colorful, suggests the new budget gaming GPU will be available in just a few weeks, a month after the launch of the RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti. Two of the new RTX 5000 GPUs have already established themselves on our best graphics card guide, although there's virtually no stock of the new cards at the moment. Nvidia hasn't officially announced any RTX 5000 GPUs that are cheaper than the RTX 5070 price, however, and it's hoped that the company will release an RTX 5060 GPU that brings the company's new Multi Frame Gen tech to a more affordable price. 16. Everyone wants to be an explosive carry in Marvel Rivals and make a name for themselves, but they’re useless without the help of proper backline healers. Support players in Marvel Rivals have huddled up on Reddit to share their agonies and explain why it’s the least played role in the game. “It was infuriating trying to keep everyone alive,” one player said, who picked the role for a match to balance out the team composition, realizing how many of their teammates just run headfirst into their enemies. 18. Where to start with a strategy game as mammoth as Civilization 7? There are so many things we could talk about, from new systems and big changes to those gorgeous graphics. I'm having to fight against the urge to dive down into the minutiae right away. It's still Civ. I think that's the most important thing I can communicate to the reader. In the early days of Civilization 7's marketing there were some fears that the game had gone too far, that it would be too big a break from what had come before. But I was honestly quite surprised by how intuitive and easy Civ 7 was to jump into for me, someone who has played an awful lot of Civilization 5 but only really dabbled in the sixth instalment of the series. 20. One Warhammer 40k fan has taken on the behemoth task of building a real-life, wearable cosplay of Games Workshop's Warlord Titan mega-walker, and the work-in-progress pictures are impressive as hell. RedBert, a ******* physics student, first posted his creation to Reddit in November 2024. His latest (and most spectacular) progress update was made on January 26, where he shows off a chunky Titan leg. Read the rest of the story... 22. It isn’t always sunshine and rainbows in Civilization 7. When things start to get chaotic in your cities and towns, you may end up being warned about a Crisis emerging—and if things get bad enough, you’ll need to start picking out Crisis Policies. Crisis Policies tend to come with debuffs or taxes that you’ll need to work around while trying to make progress. They can be frustrating, but by picking mindfully, it’s easy to mitigate them. 23. Building a religion in Civilization 7 means starting with picking the best Pantheon possible in the Antiquity Age. Each Pantheon offers subtle buffs and bonuses that can help take you from a small settlement to a thriving empire if you use them correctly. They’re only relevant in the first third of the game, and most Civs only get one, but they can help you hit the ground running if you pick them mindfully. View the full article
