Trump Toadying To Hannity Has Social Media Cringing: ‘This Is Revolting’
President Donald Trump fawned over “wonderful” pundit Sean Hannity, who as a Fox News host has frequently allowed Trump’s baseless claims about the 2020 election being stolen go unchecked, during a recent trip on Air Force One.
“I’ll say this,” Trump told Hannity during the interview, which aired Wednesday. “Look, we had an election, you were so wonderful to me. You were really an amazing professional. You did it for the right reason, you didn’t do it for the wrong reason, but you were so professional.”
“We won every swing state,” he continued. “We won the popular vote by a lot. We won everything. We won a thing called, that people don’t like, districts … thousands of districts. We’ve got 2,750 districts versus 525 districts. Think of that.”
Social media users have since trounced Trump for his effusive flattery toward Hannity.
“‘You did it for the right reason’ yeah, like propping up a wannabe dictator on **********,” wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter, with another commenting: “Sean works for State Regime TV so of course he gets compliments! Sean spreads the *********!”
A third wrote: “Trump praising Hannity like he’s awarding a participation trophy is peak ego inflation. ‘You did it for the right reason’—translation: you were the best at kissing my **** on live TV. Congrats on mastering the art of professional brown-nosing. Pulitzer? Not quite.”
Trump spoke earlier in the interview about the state of the Democratic Party following his victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris.
He appeared to credit his win to the “radical” party’s support of transgender rights and undocumented immigrants.
“It would be harder to beat them if they were normal and things,” he said. “It shows that they’re almost insane.”
Trump naturally accepted the results of last year’s election, but remains adamant that the 2020 proceedings involving former President Joe Biden were rigged against him. Hannity promoted the baseless claim on his show and frequently hosted fraud proponents of it. During a 2022 deposition, however, he testified that he “did not believe it for one second.”
Elsewhere during the interview, Trump justified getting a “free” $400 million jet from Qatar, despite the Constitution specifically forbidding U.S. officials from receiving gifts from foreign nations without congressional approval.
His televised love fest with Hannity, meanwhile, spawned similar outrage on social media.

This bonkers Antec Vortex View AIO Cooler has a 360-degree rotatable 5-inch display
This bonkers Antec Vortex View AIO Cooler has a 360-degree rotatable 5-inch display
Antec just announced the new Vortex View AIO cooler that features a 5-inch IPS display that rotates a full 360 degrees. This ensures that the display stays upright, no matter how you configure or mount the water block. TechPowerUp also said that the screen features an ARGB backglow, which softly illuminates the rest of your motherboard to showcase each and every component. The Vortex View is compatible with both AMD and Intel processors, although Antec did not say which generations are supported.
Aside from being Antec’s latest AIO offering, the Vortex View will also be the first unit to use the company’s updated iUnity platform. This PC monitoring and control app now features smarter fan and pump curve control, as well as support for multi-device syncing and personalized dashboards. The company said that it will also be compatible with upcoming product releases, so we anticipate an Antec ecosystem of cases, power supplies, coolers, and more in the near future.
“The Vortex View is a natural evolution of what performance cooling should be,” said Antec CEO Frank Lee. “With a 360-degree free-rotational five-inch IPS display powered via USB 3.0, it delivers real-time system insight with total flexibility, without compromising on thermal efficiency. It’s also the first AIO to launch with our revamped iUnity platform, enabling deeper customization and seamless future integration across Antec products. This cooler stays true to our core principle: prioritizing performance first, then layering in meaningful functionality.”
You may like
Antec put a high-efficiency PWM pump on the Vortex View, allowing it to vary the pump speed as needed, based on your computer’s power load and temperature. It also reduced noise levels, and when paired with Antec’s ARGB fans that prioritize airflow and silence, you don’t have to worry about your gaming PC sounding like a drone taking off. The company also used premium braided tubing, ensuring that it will last longer and prevent any leaks that could damage your computer.
We don’t know yet if the Vortex View will come in both 240 mm and 360 mm or other colors. Hopefully, Antec will give PC builders those options, especially as the Vortex and Vortex Lum AIO coolers are available in those sizes. The company will show off its latest AIO cooler at the upcoming Computex 2025 in Taiwan, where we expect to see its other products. Hopefully, we can get a chance to test out the Vortex View to see how it stacks up against the best AIO coolers of 2025.

Persona 5: The Phantom X Launches In The West And Japan Next Month On PC And Mobile
Persona 5: The Phantom X Launches In The West And Japan Next Month On PC And Mobile
Persona 5: The Phantom X is a mobile gacha spin-off game that launched in China, Taiwan, South Korea, and a handful of other countries last year. The game skipped out on the West and, strangely, Japan. However, Atlus and ***** have revealed it will finally come to these territories on June 26, and it’s also coming to PC alongside iOS and Android devices.
“Encompassed in the unique turn-based RPG gameplay and setting of Persona 5, players will lead a double life as a student and a Phantom Thief with a brand-new protagonist and band of Phantom Thieves,” a press release reads. “During the day, players will build up life experience as a student and engage in various activities such as hanging out with your friends and part time jobs, while at night, they will sneak into the cognitive dungeons to steal Treasures and change the twisted desires of corrupt adults.”
You can check out the official announcement trailer, which is followed by a developer livestream discussing the game, below:
Atlus says players can expect new Phantom X-exclusive characters and returning favorites from Persona 5, like Joker and others, who will be available in special contracts. If you aren’t familiar with how The Phantom X works, it’s a gacha game, meaning one of the main goals of the RPG is to collect characters via special events and RNG pulls. If it’s anything like other popular gacha games like Genshin Impact, expect plenty of opportunities to spend money on additional gacha pulls or to increase your chances of getting a highly sought-after character or persona. This might be a turn-off for some, but gacha games are a popular genre, especially on mobile.
We won’t have to wait long to find out what awaits players because Persona 5: The Phantom X will be released on June 26 for PC, iOS, and Android.
Here are some screenshots from the game:
In the meantime, check out Game Informer’s Persona 5 review and then read our thoughts on Persona 5 Royal. After that, read Game Informer’s reviews of Persona 5 Strikers and Persona 5 Tactica, and then check out what we want in Persona 6.

Gambia’s President Barrow announces investigation
Gambia’s President Barrow announces investigation
The Gambian government has announced an investigation into the ***** of assets seized from former President Yahya Jammeh, following widespread public concern.
Some of the assets, including livestock and luxury vehicles, were sold off while a panel was still investigating the wealth Jammeh amassed during his 22-year rule.
A newspaper investigation exposed alleged irregularities and an apparent lack of transparency in the ***** of the assets, sparking protests organised by young people.
In a televised address on Wednesday night, President Adama Barrow pledged “full transparency” in the probe, saying assets recovered “belong to the people”.
Jammeh, who seized power in a 1994 coup, is accused of orchestrating the huge theft of government funds, as well as extensive human rights abuses, including killing and jailing his critics.
The former leader, who in 2017 fled into exile in Equatorial Guinea after losing elections, has previously denied allegations of wrongdoing.
In 2017, President Barrow set up a commission to investigate alleged corruption and financial misconduct by Jammeh during his two-decade-long rule.
The panel, popularly known as the Janneh commission, concluded its findings in 2019 and recommended the forfeiture of assets linked to Jammeh and his associates.
The investigation found that Jammeh had allegedly stolen at least $360m (£270m) and spent lavishly on expensive vehicles, aircraft and real estate.
He is yet comment on the accusations but his supporters in Gambia have dismissed the findings against him as a political witchhunt.
Jammeh’s livestock – including cows, sheep and goats, – farm tractors, vehicles, and other valuables were among the assets earmarked for seizure by the state.
In 2019, President Barrow authorised a ministerial taskforce to oversee the reclaiming of the assets, with regular updates to the cabinet.
But an investigative report published by the local Republic newspaper earlier this month accused senior government officials of selling the assets to themselves, friends and family at below market value.
The report went viral on social media, triggering protests in the capital, Banjul, where dozens of people, including journalists were arrested but later released.
Following the public pressure, the government published a detailed list of the assets already sold, which included some of Jammeh’s luxury cars, livestock, boats, construction equipment, household goods, parcels of land and heavy farm machinery.
The long list showed the buyers, prices and ***** dates.
However, some of Jammeh’s luxury cars like his customised Rolls Royce and Bentley were not in the list.
It is not clear if the vehicles were sold or shipped out to him as the government had allowed him to take some items to Equatorial Guinea.
The list sparked further outrage over how many valuable items had seemingly been sold at suspiciously low prices.
No explanation was given by the government about the prices but the justice ministry in a statement said the ***** had gone through a “legally grounded process”.
“At all times, the government acted within the confines of the law and in the public interest,” the ministry said in a statement.
In his address on Wednesday, Barrow said he had convened a cabinet meeting the previous day to discuss details of the sales, some of which he was learning about “for the first time”.
He said the country’s parliament and the National Audit Office were both conducting parallel inquiries into the matter.
“Their findings will be made public, and my government will enforce their recommendations to address the shortcomings discovered and hold accountable any individual or entity found culpable,” the president said.
He urged Gambians to remain calm, warning that his government “will not tolerate negligence, or any wrongdoing linked to safeguarding our nation’s resources”.
But activists and opposition parties have dismissed the president’s assurance, saying parliament cannot be trusted with the investigation.
Yayah Sanyang, an opposition MP, has called for an independent probe, saying parliament was “full of ruling party loyalists”.
The Edward Francis Small Center for Rights and Justice, a rights group, has demanded that the president take responsibility and freeze the ***** of all seized assets.
In 2022, the US seized a luxurious mansion in Maryland, which was said to have been purchased by Jammeh through proceeds of corruption.
In its investigation, the US Justice Department said Jammeh had acquired at least 281 properties during his time in office and operated more than 100 private bank accounts.

The next free Epic Games Store titles are available now, with three more coming next week
The next free Epic Games Store titles have gone live.
Dead Island 2 and Happy Game are the latest free games, with both available to claim for the next seven days.
The games replace Deadtime Defenders and Touch Type Tale, which were last week’s free games.
When the timer ends on May 22 at 11am ET / 4pm BST, Dead Island 2 and Happy Game will no longer be free to claim, but Epic says they will be replaced with three new free games.
As is always the case, the Epic Games Store‘s free weekly game offer allows players to claim the games with no other purchase needed. The games will then permanently be added to their Epic Games Store library.
VGC’s Dead Island 2 review said the game “is an extremely silly, comically violent, and consistently enjoyable experience,” adding: “It’s almost impossible to stop smiling while playing, such are the slapstick laughs of limbs flying off in every direction.
“The smart skill system and a wide range of weapons mean that throughout the game’s brisk 15-hour main campaign offering, you’re never bored of liberating heads from the shoulders of the undead around Hollywood.
“LA itself is a wonderful playground of varied locations, and though we’d have preferred a fully open world, if the trade-off is the exceptional flesh system, then it’s no contest.”
Happy Game is a “psychedelic horror adventure” in which the player has to “endure and escape three unforgettable nightmares”. It features a soundtrack from Czech freakfolk band DVA.

The BBC asked President Trump whether he was disappointed by the level of the delegation that Russia sent to Turkey.
“Look, nothing’s going to happen until Putin and I get together. Okay?” Trump said.
“And obviously he wasn’t going to go. He was going to go, but he thought I was going to go”, the president continued.

Jeremie Frimpong: Liverpool ready to trigger Bayer Leverkusen star’s release clause
Liverpool are ready to trigger the release clause of Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong as they close in on their first summer signing.
The 24-year-old, who can play across the right-hand side, is wanted by fellow Dutchman Arne Slot for next season’s campaign and talks towards a deal have progressed in recent days.
Frimpong’s release clause is understood to be in the region of 35m euros (£29.5m), with Liverpool expected to meet that figure.
If the Premier League champions can complete a swoop for the Netherlands international, it could help soften the blow of losing Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to join Real Madrid after confirming his decision to leave Anfield when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Frimpong, who came through the youth ranks at Manchester City and played for Celtic, could replace the 26-year-old Alexander-Arnold at right-back.
He has made 53 appearances in all competitions for club and country this season and played an integral role in helping Leverkusen to their first Bundesliga title in 2024.

Wall Street edges lower as trade truce rally ebbs
Wall Street edges lower as trade truce rally ebbs
Wall Street has dipped as elation from the US-China tariff truce faded for major indexes while UnitedHealth’s stock took a pummelling after a report of a fraud inquiry into the insurer.
UnitedHealth Group plunged 16 per cent to its lowest level since April 2020.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the US Department of Justice was conducting a criminal investigation into the company for possible Medicare fraud.
However, the health insurer said it had not been informed of a criminal probe by federal prosecutors.
Walmart will have to start raising prices later this month due to the high cost of tariffs, executives said, even as the retail giant’s US comparable sales surpassed expectations in the first quarter.
Its shares were down 4.8 per cent
In early trading on Thursdsay, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 128.62 points, or 0.31 per cent, to 41,922.44, the S&P 500 lost 19.46 points, or 0.33 per cent, to 5,873.03, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 123.27 points, or 0.64 per cent, to 19,023.53.
Speaking on the day, Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell said US central bank officials felt they needed to reconsider the key elements around jobs as well as inflation in their current monetary policy approach.
US retail sales growth slowed in April while a Labor Department report showed the producer price index for final demand fell 0.5 per cent for the same month, compared to an expectation of a 0.2 per cent rise.
On an annual basis, producer prices came in at 2.4 per cent versus an estimate of 2.5 per cent.
“There will be a hump and pick up in prices but until we see how big that is and how lasting that is, the Fed should be able to remain patient,” said Jan Nevruzi, US rates strategist at TD Securities.
The data dump follows a relatively tame consumer price reading earlier this week, indicating that consumer prices rebounded moderately last month.
In results-driven moves, Cisco Systems gained 2.9 per cent after the networking-equipment maker raised its annual forecasts and named Mark Patterson its new CFO.
Only four out of the 11 S&P 500 sectors were trading in the green.
The energy sector fell the most, as oil prices slid about 3.0 per cent on expectations of a US-Iran nuclear deal that could result in sanctions easing.
Stocks have been see-sawing this week as equities jumped on Monday and Tuesday following a temporary ceasefire in the US-China tariff tensions.
The gains were enough to drag the S&P out of the red for the year – its first positive showing since late February – although it is still about 4.0 per cent shy of its record highs.
Many megacap and growth stocks pulled back, with Nvidia slipping 1.2 per cent while Tesla shed 2.8 per cent.
Foot Locker, soared 83.6 per cent after rival *****’s Sporting Goods agreed to buy the footwear retailer for $US2.4 billion ($A3.7 billion).
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by a 1.01-to-1 ratio on the NYSE while declining issues outnumbered advancers by a 1.28-to-1 ratio on the Nasdaq.
The S&P 500 posted four new 52-week highs and three new lows while the Nasdaq Composite recorded 17 new highs and 51 new lows.

Northeastern college student demanded her tuition fees back after catching her professor using OpenAI’s ChatGPT
Northeastern college student demanded her tuition fees back after catching her professor using OpenAI’s ChatGPT
A senior at Northeastern University filed a formal complaint and demanded a tuition refund after discovering her professor was secretly using AI tools to generate notes. The professor later admitted to using several AI platforms and acknowledged the need for transparency. The incident highlights growing student concerns over professors using AI, a reversal of earlier concerns from professors worried that students would use the technology to cheat.
Some students are not happy about their professor’s use of AI. One college senior was so shocked to learn her teacher was using AI to help him create notes that she lodged a formal complaint and asked for a refund of her tuition money, according to the New York Times.
Ella Stapleton, who enrolled at Northeastern University this academic year, grew suspicious of her business professor’s lecture notes when she spotted telltale signs of AI generation, including a stray “ChatGPT” citation tucked into the bibliography, recurrent typos that mirrored machine outputs, and images depicting figures with extra limbs.
“He’s telling us not to use it, and then he’s using it himself,” Stapleton said in an interview with the New York Times.
Stapleton lodged a formal complaint with Northeastern’s business school over the incident, focused on her professor’s undisclosed use of AI alongside broader concerns about his teaching approach—and demanded a tuition refund for that course. The claim amounted to just over $8,000.
After a series of meetings, Northeastern ultimately decided to reject the senior’s claim.
The professor behind the notes, Rick Arrowood, acknowledged he used various AI tools—including ChatGPT, the Perplexity AI search engine, and an AI presentation generator called Gamma—in an interview with The New York Times.
“In hindsight…I wish I would have looked at it more closely,” he told the outlet, adding that he now believes that professors ought to give careful thought to integrating AI and be transparent with students about when and how they use it.
“If my experience can be something people can learn from,” he told the NYT, “then, OK, that’s my happy spot.”
Colleges often restrict the use of AI on campus
Many schools either outright ban or put restrictions on the use of AI. Students were some of the early adopters of ChatGPT after its release in late 2022, quickly finding they could complete essays and assignments in seconds. The widespread use of the tech created a distrust between students and teachers as professors struggled to identify and punish the use of AI in work.
Now the tables have somewhat turned. Students have been taking to sites including Rate My Professors to complain about their lecturers use or overuse of AI. They also argue that it undermines the fees they pay to be taught by human experts rather than technology they could use for free.
According to Northeastern’s AI policy, any faculty or student must “provide appropriate attribution when using an AI System to generate content that is included in a scholarly publication, or submitted to anybody, publication or other organization that requires attribution of content authorship.”
The policy also states that those who use the technology must: “Regularly check the AI System’s output for accuracy and appropriateness for the required purpose, and revise/update the output as appropriate.”
Representatives for Northeastern did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fortune.

Shares of UnitedHealth Group plunged more than 18% on Thursday following a report that the Justice Department is conducting a criminal investigation into the health-care giant over possible Medicare fraud.
The DOJ is focusing on the company’s Medicare Advantage business practices, but the exact nature of the potential criminal allegations is unclear, the Wall Street Journal reported late Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
In a statement, UnitedHealth Group said the Justice Department has not notified it about the reported probe, and called the newspaper’s reporting “deeply irresponsible.”
The company also said “we stand by the integrity of our Medicare Advantage program.”
It marks the second time the insurer’s Medicare Advantage business has come under federal scrutiny this year. The Journal reported in February that the DOJ is carrying out a civil investigation into whether the company inflated diagnoses to trigger extra payments to its Medicare Advantage plans.
The reported investigation also follows the surprise exit of UnitedHealth Group CEO Andrew Witty, who will be replaced by the company’s former longtime chief executive, Stephen Hemsley.
Shares of UnitedHealth Group are down roughly 49% this year following a string of setbacks for the company.
UnitedHealth Group has lost over $300 billion of its $600 billion market cap in just one month, Jared Holz, Mizuho health care equity strategist, said in an email on Thursday. He said there is some risk that the company will be removed from the Dow Jones Industrial Average “at some point unless there is greater evidence of greater consistency.”
UnitedHealth Group also had a tumultuous last year, grappling with a historic cyberattack, higher-than-expected medical costs and the torrent of public blowback after the ******* of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO Brian Thompson.

Farage is running a cult, says ex-Reform MP Rupert Lowe
Farage is running a cult, says ex-Reform MP Rupert Lowe

Watch: Rupert Lowe tells BBC Newsnight that Nigel Farage is “running a cult”
Former Reform *** MP Rupert Lowe has accused Nigel Farage’s party of being “the cult of Nigel” and says he was the victim of a “political assassination attempt”.
Speaking to Victoria Derbyshire on BBC Newsnight, Lowe suggested his relationship with Reform *** changed when “Elon Musk came out and was complimentary about me and less complimentary about Nigel”
The Great Yarmouth MP made the comments in his first broadcast interview since the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to press charges over threats he was alleged to have made.
Reform *** declined to comment on Lowe’s latest attack on Farage, who has previously dismissed the row as irrelevant to the continued advance of the party.
Sarah Pochin, who earlier this month won the Runcorn and Helsby by-election for Reform, described herself as Lowe’s “replacement” on the party’s benches in Parliament and also played down the Lowe spat.
“I really think it is white noise around what is a huge, energetic movement now, Reform, coming across the country and coming for the other two parties,” she told the BBC.
Lowe was elected as a Reform MP in last year’s general election but was suspended by the party in March, amid claims of threats towards its chairman Zia Yusuf.
In his Newsnight interview, Lowe said of Farage’s “brutal” leadership style “If people become, if you like, too tall a poppy, he tends to lop off the head of the poppy”.
On Reform ***’s leadership, Lowe said Farage has “a team of what I call, very long-term lightweight sort of servants, which is what you tend to find in a cult.”
The independent MP added that he didn’t think Farage is “fit to be leader”.
“I think he’s ultimately a very good, what I would call, ballroom entertainer. And he stands up and he entertains, and he’s extremely good at that.”
On Wednesday, Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS, said it made the decision not to press charges on Mr Lowe “following a thorough and detailed review of the evidence”.
Although the CPS statement does not name Lowe, the case relates to an incident at the Palace of Westminster in December 2024.
Lowe maintains that the claims made against him are untrue. “Why did they do it? I think it was a political assassination attempt.”
“I think Nigel is running a cult. That’s what I concluded, and I think it’s the cult of Nigel. And anyone who basically has a different opinion, is effectively expunged from, being a threat to, to the cult.”
Lowe also revealed that his firearms were confiscated from his home by police, following his row with Reform.
“We had an unannounced visitation from four armed police officers in three cars”, he said.
“They came and they took all my guns away.”
Lowe declined to say if he would launch a new political party, suggesting instead that “the most powerful instrument for change probably would be reformed Tory party”.
“I could join the Tories tomorrow if I wanted to. I don’t have an issue with the Tories,” he added.
However, Lowe also suggested he would “make sure there’s an alternative” to the existing political offerings, adding “if people think I’m going to pack up my tent to leave the field, they’re very wrong.”
When asked about what support this “alternative” might gain, Lowe suggested Elon Musk “broadly, would consider supporting us” in a future political venture.
“I can’t speak for him, but would I be grateful and would I feel good about his verbal support? Yes. Financial support? Yes. If he chose to do that, it would be fantastic.”
Watch Rupert Lowe’s interview on Newsnight on BBC Two at 22:30 BST.

Cyber attack, data breach hits fashion giant Dior
Cyber attack, data breach hits fashion giant Dior
Luxury French fashion brand Dior is the latest high-profile retail firm to be hit by a cyber attack – with customer data accessed as a result, the company has confirmed.
The scale of the breach remains unclear but a message about the breach has been posted on the firm’s South Korean website, and there have also been reports of customers in China being notified of the incident.
In a statement, Dior said no financial information was affected as part of the breach and it was in the process of informing affected customers “where necessary”.
The incident comes in the wake of a number of *** retailers, including Marks and Spencer and Co-op, being hit by hackers.
“The House of Dior recently discovered that an unauthorised external party accessed some of the customer data we hold,” Dior said.
“We immediately took steps to contain this incident. The teams at Dior, supported by leading cybersecurity experts, continue to investigate and respond to the incident. We are notifying all the relevant regulatory authorities.
“No financial information, including bank details, Iban or credit card details, was contained in the database accessed.
“We are in the process of informing customers where necessary. The confidentiality and security of our customer data is an absolute priority for the House of Dior. We deeply regret any concern or inconvenience this matter may cause our customers.”
The company has not confirmed the regions or countries where customers have been affected.
According to the message posted to Dior’s South Korean website, the company discovered the breach on May 7 and that “contact information, purchase data and preference data” is among the information compromised by the hackers.
No groups or individuals have yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Muhammad Yahya Patel, an adviser at cyber security firm Check Point Software, warned customers to be aware of possible scams from cybercriminals looking to take advantage of the incident.
“In the wake of the Dior data breach, customers should be on high alert for phishing emails,” he said.
“These might appear to come from Dior and could include password reset requests, contact detail updates or fake purchase confirmations, all of which are common tactics used by cybercriminals to trick victims into clicking malicious links.
“Given that Dior is a luxury shopping brand, there’s also an elevated risk of fraudsters pushing fake promotions, discount codes, or exclusive ***** offers to lure unsuspecting customers. Anyone who’s interacted with the brand recently should treat any unexpected email or SMS with caution and avoid clicking on links or entering login details via third-party websites.
“In today’s digital world, it’s always safer to visit a brand’s official website directly through your web browser rather than clicking on links in emails or SMS messages.
“Anyone who’s interacted with the brand recently should treat any unexpected communication with caution and avoid entering login details or payment information unless they’re certain it’s legitimate.”

Keep Your Eye on This Stock, It Just Got a Rare Double Upgrade
Keep Your Eye on This Stock, It Just Got a Rare Double Upgrade
After months of hiding in the shadows, National Vision Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) is suddenly one of the hottest stocks in the market.
Shares have jumped more than 40% over the past week alone, hitting their highest level in more than a year as momentum builds behind a stock that had been trading sideways since last September. After a blockbuster earnings report and a rare double upgrade from Bank of America, investor enthusiasm has returned in force—and this could be just the beginning.
National Vision is a $1.5 billion company that operates over 1,300 retail optical locations in the United States, including America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses and Eyeglass World. It provides eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses and also partners with Walmart (NYSE:) to manage Vision Centers.
While it’s not exactly one of the better-known tech stocks dominating headlines, this past week has changed things. So how did a long-overlooked eyewear retailer suddenly become a breakout star on Wall Street? The clues lie in its latest earnings—and what comes next.
Blowout Earnings Spark New Interest
The rally started with National Vision’s first-quarter earnings release, which smashed expectations. Non-GAAP EPS came in at 34 cents, beating estimates by 3 cents, while revenue reached $510.3 million, up nearly 6% on the year and well ahead of expectations.
Management pointed to a series of strategic changes implemented late in 2024 as the key driver. These included a new pricing architecture to boost average ticket size, improved recruitment and retention of optometrists, and new remote exam capabilities to mitigate labor shortages.
CEO Reade Fahs said the results are “a testament to the entire team’s disciplined execution,” while President Alex Wilkes emphasized the focus on higher-value customer segments and enhanced digital experience.
The business saw fit to raise its full-year 2025 guidance across the board, which is one of the most bullish signs a company can give to the market. Understandably, shares have been red hot since.
Bank of America Issues Rare Double Upgrade
Adding fuel to the fire was Bank of America’s rare double upgrade, with the team there moving National Vision from Underperform straight to a Buy rating. Analyst Robert Ohmes also set a new price target of $22, suggesting even more gains are due in the short term.
According to Ohmes, the first-quarter results show that “National Vision’s initiatives are working,” and the setup for the back half of 2025 is looking increasingly strong. He highlighted the company’s focus on promotional frame traffic, improved marketing execution, and a growing base of managed care customers as key drivers going forward.
Ohmes also noted that less than 10% of National Vision’s cost of goods sold is exposed to China. That’s important because tariff-related risk remains a concern in the current trade environment. However, recent pricing changes have improved margins without hurting customer conversion or satisfaction, giving the company more room to absorb potential cost increases if new tariffs are imposed.
Is It Too Hot, Too Fast?
One note of caution: with all the buying, the stock’s RSI has spiked to 87, suggesting the stock is in extremely overbought territory. That could open the door to some short-term profit-taking after the sharp run.
However, for long-term investors, any pullback may prove to be a buying opportunity. The stock remains well below Bank of America’s $22 target, and the turnaround story now has real momentum behind it.
National Vision’s Bullish Case Comes Into Focus
After spending months in the shadows, National Vision has returned to investor radar with a bang. A crushing earnings beat, raised guidance, and a double upgrade have triggered a wave of new buying and put the stock firmly in uptrend territory. With transformation efforts clearly bearing fruit, margin expansion in full swing, and analysts calling for further gains, National Vision looks like a stock to watch closely and potentially accumulate, even if short-term volatility sets in.

What is Docker? | Definition from TechTarget
What is Docker? | Definition from TechTarget
Docker is an open source software platform used to create, deploy and manage applications in virtualized environments called containers. These containers are lightweight, portable and self-sufficient packages that include everything an application needs to run, such as code, libraries, runtime and system tools. Containers ensure consistent performance across different environments by encapsulating the application and its dependencies.
Docker container technology debuted in 2013. At that time, Docker Inc. was formed to support a commercial edition of container management software and be the principal sponsor of an open source version. Mirantis acquired the Docker Enterprise business in November 2019.
Docker gives software developers a faster and more efficient way to build and test containerized portions of an overall software application. This lets developers in a team concurrently build multiple pieces of software. Each container includes all elements needed to create a software component and ensure it’s built, tested and deployed smoothly. Docker enables portability so these packaged containers can be moved to different servers or development environments.
How Docker works
Docker packages, provisions and runs containers. Container technology is available through the operating system (OS): A container packages the application service or function with all the libraries, configuration files, dependencies, and other parts and parameters needed to operate. Each container shares the services of one underlying OS. Docker images contain all the dependencies needed to execute code inside a container, so containers that move between Docker environments with the same OS work with no changes.
Docker uses resource isolation in the OS kernel to run multiple containers on the same OS. This is different from virtual machines (VMs), which encapsulate an entire OS with executable code on top of an abstracted layer of physical hardware resources.
Docker was created to work on the Linux platform. It was extended to offer greater support for non-Linux OSes, including Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS. Versions of Docker for Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure are available.
The typical setup of a Docker stack contains a Docker engine, host operating system and physical server.
Why is Docker so popular?
Docker has gained popularity due to its ability to streamline operations and transform software development and deployment. Here are some key reasons why Docker has gained widespread adoption:
Ease of use. Docker makes it easy to use containers to create, deploy and manage applications. Its simple interface and easy-to-use command-line tools help developers learn and use Docker quickly in their workflows.
Portability. Docker containers package an application along with its dependencies, ensuring consistent operation across various environments. Docker containers can run on any system that supports Docker, whether it’s a developer’s laptop, a test server or a cloud environment, such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure. This portability lets developers create applications on their local machines and easily deploy them to production, eliminating concerns about environmental discrepancies.
Lightweight and efficient. Docker containers are lightweight when compared to traditional VMs, as they share the host OS kernel. This leads to better resource use, enabling more containers to run on a single host, which is especially beneficial in cloud environments.
Rapid development and deployment. Docker enables continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices, promoting faster development cycles. This lets developers quickly build, test and deploy applications, significantly reducing time to market.
Community and ecosystem. Docker has a large and active community that contributes to a rich ecosystem of tools, libraries and resources. Community support makes it easier for developers to find answers to problems, share best practices and collaborate on projects.
Integration with DevOps practices. Docker is well suited for modern DevOps practices as it fosters collaboration between development and operations teams. It also supports automation and orchestration tools, such as Kubernetes, which enhance its ability to manage containerized applications at scale.
Key use cases for Docker
While it’s technically possible to use Docker for developing and deploying any kind of software application, it’s most useful to accomplish the following:
Continuously deploying software. Docker technology and strong DevOps practices make it possible to deploy containerized applications in a few seconds. This capability is unlike traditional, bulky, monolithic applications that take much longer. Updates or changes made to an application’s code are executed and deployed quickly when using containers that are part of a larger CI/CD pipeline.
Building a microservices-based architecture. When a microservices-based architecture is more advantageous than a traditional, monolithic application, Docker is ideal for the process of building out this architecture. Developers build and deploy multiple microservices, each inside their own container. Then, they integrate them to assemble a full software application with the help of a container orchestration tool, such as Docker Swarm.
Migrating legacy applications to a containerized infrastructure. A development team wanting to modernize a preexisting legacy software application can use Docker to shift the app to a containerized infrastructure.
Enabling hybrid cloud and multi-cloud applications. Docker containers operate the same way whether deployed on-premises or using cloud computing technology. Therefore, Docker lets applications be easily moved to various cloud vendors’ production and testing environments. A Docker app that uses multiple cloud offerings can be considered hybrid cloud or multi-cloud.
Jump-starting machine learning and data science. Docker is increasingly used in AI and machine learning (ML) projects. By packaging code, libraries and dependencies into containers, it provides a consistent environment for running experiments, training models and deploying applications, which is crucial for reproducibility in data science workflows.
Performing testing and quality assurance (QA). Docker provides advantages for automated testing, letting teams quickly provision and dismantle isolated test environments. This capability ensures that tests are run reliably in clean states without the need for manual intervention. Docker’s lightweight containers also start up fast, enabling the efficient execution of parallel tests, which accelerates the overall testing process.
Docker architecture: Components and tools
Docker Community Edition is open source, while Docker Enterprise Edition is a commercialized version offered by Docker Inc. Docker consists of various components and tools that help create, verify and manage containers.
Main components and tools in the Docker architecture include the following:
Content Trust. This security tool is used to verify the integrity of remote Docker registries through user signatures and image tags.
Daemon. The daemon provides a client-side command-line interface (CLI) for users to interact with the daemon through the Docker application programming interface (API). Containers created by Docker are called Dockerfiles. Docker Compose files define the composition of components in a Docker container.
Docker Build Cloud. This tool uses cloud infrastructure to enhance and speed up the build process. It integrates with CI/CD tools, such as GitHub Actions, to facilitate streamlined workflows for building and deploying applications.
Docker client. The Docker client is the primary interface for users to interact with Docker. It lets users issue Docker commands to the Docker daemon using a CLI or through a graphical user interface (GUI). The client communicates with the daemon to manage containers, images and networks.
Docker Compose. This tool is used to configure multicontainer application services, view container statuses, stream log output and run single-instance processes.
Docker container. A container is a runnable instance of a Docker image. It encapsulates the application and its dependencies, providing an isolated environment for execution.
Docker Desktop. Docker Desktop provides an easy-to-use interface for managing Docker containers on local machines. It includes tools for building, running and sharing containerized applications, making it a great choice for developers working in their local environments.
Docker Engine. Docker Engine is the underlying technology that handles the tasks and workflows involved in building container-based applications. The engine creates a server-side daemon process that hosts images, containers, APIs, networks and storage volumes.
Docker Hub. This software-as-a-service tool lets users publish and share container-based applications through a common library. The service has more than 100,000 publicly available applications, as well as public and private container registries.
Docker image. A Docker image serves as a blueprint for a container. An image is a lightweight, standalone and executable package that includes everything needed to run a piece of software, including the code, runtime, libraries and environment variables. Images are built from a set of instructions defined in a Dockerfile.
Docker Machine. Docker Machine is a tool used for provisioning and managing Docker hosts on various cloud platforms or local hypervisors, such as Oracle VirtualBox and VMware. It automates the process of creating and configuring Docker hosts on local or remote systems.
Docker Swarm. This tool is part of Docker Engine and supports cluster load balancing for Docker. Multiple Docker host resources are pooled together in Swarm to act as one, which lets users quickly scale container deployments to multiple hosts.
Docker Trusted Registry (DTR). This is a repository that’s similar to Docker Hub but with an extra layer of control and ownership over container image storage and distribution.
Universal Control Plane (UCP). This is a web-based, unified cluster and application management interface.
Docker’s architecture is composed of multiple components that interact with one another to perform specific functions.
Docker advantages and disadvantages
Docker emerged as a de facto standard platform to quickly compose, create, deploy, scale and oversee containers across Docker hosts. In addition to efficient containerized application development, other benefits of Docker include the following:
A high degree of portability so users can register and share containers over various hosts.
Lower resource use.
Faster deployment compared to VMs.
Version control for Docker images, making it easy to manage different versions of an application and roll back to previous versions if needed.
Docker’s structure is more compact compared to that of a virtual machine.
There are also potential challenges with Docker, such as the following:
The number of containers possible in an enterprise can be difficult to manage efficiently.
Container use is evolving from granular virtual hosting to orchestration of application components and resources. As a result, the distribution and interconnection of componentized applications are becoming major hurdles.
Since containers share the host OS’ kernel, without proper management, they can lead to container security issues and vulnerabilities.
Docker containers introduce some performance overhead due to factors such as virtualization, networking and storage drivers. While this overhead isn’t that noticeable, it can be an issue in resource-intensive applications.
Docker Engine primarily operates as a command-line tool, whereas Docker Desktop provides a GUI. However, managing large-scale deployments often relies on the command line or other management tools. This reliance on command-line syntax can be challenging for users who are more accustomed to graphical interfaces.
As the Docker ecosystem evolves rapidly, documentation might lag behind the latest features and changes, which can potentially confuse users.
Adopting Docker introduces a learning curve for teams unfamiliar with containerization concepts and tools, potentially requiring training and adjustment periods.
Docker security
A historically persistent issue with containers — and Docker, by extension — is security. Despite excellent logical isolation, containers still share the host’s OS. An attack or flaw in the underlying OS can potentially compromise all the containers running on top of the OS. Vulnerabilities can involve access and authorization, container images and network traffic among containers. Docker images can retain root access to the host by default, although this is often carried over from third-party vendors’ packages.
Docker has regularly added security enhancements to the platform, such as image scanning, secure node introduction, cryptographic node identity, cluster segmentation and secure secret distribution. Docker secrets management also exists in Kubernetes, as well as CISOfy Lynis, D2iQ and HashiCorp Vault. Various container security scanning tools have emerged from Aqua Security, SUSE Security and others.
Here are some best practices that can be used to improve Docker security:
Running containers within a VM. Some organizations run containers within a VM, although containers don’t require VMs. This doesn’t solve the shared resource problem vector, but it does mitigate the potential effect of a security flaw.
Using low-profile VMs. Another alternative is to use low-profile or micro VMs, which don’t require the same overhead as a regular VM. Examples are Firecracker, gVisor and Kata Containers. Above all, the most common and recommended step to ensure container security is to not expose container hosts to the internet and only use container images from known sources.
Using official and trusted images. It’s important to always pull images from reputable sources, such as Docker Hub’s official repositories, to minimize the risk of vulnerabilities.
Avoiding root permissions. Running Docker containers as root simplifies initial setup by bypassing complex permission management, but it’s a significant security risk with few valid reasons in production. While Docker’s default is nonroot, organizations should explicitly avoid granting root privileges.
Monitoring container log activities. Organizations should continuously monitor container activities and maintain logs to detect anomalies and respond to security incidents promptly.
Docker alternatives, ecosystem and standardization
Over the years, Docker has become a foundational tool in containerization, but it’s far from the only option available. The broader container ecosystem encompasses a range of third-party tools, competing platforms and open standards that have shaped the development, deployment and management of modern applications.
The following is an overview of key alternatives to Docker and the standardization initiatives that have emerged to promote compatibility and consistency across the container landscape:
Docker alternatives. There are third-party tools that work with Docker for tasks such as container management and clustering. The Docker ecosystem includes a mix of open source projects and proprietary technologies, such as open source Kubernetes, Red Hat’s proprietary OpenShift packaging of Kubernetes and Canonical’s distribution of Kubernetes, referred to as pure upstream Kubernetes.
Docker’s competition with other container platforms. Docker competes with proprietary application containers, such as VMware vApp, and infrastructure abstraction tools, including Chef. Docker isn’t the only container platform available, but it’s still the biggest name in the container marketplace. Besides Docker, other proprietary and open source container platforms include Podman, containerd and nerdctl, Linux Containers, runc and Rancher Desktop.
Role in container standardization. Docker also played a leading role in an initiative to more formally standardize container packaging and distribution named the Open Container Initiative, which was established to foster a common container format and runtime environment. More than 40 container industry providers are members of the Open Container Initiative, including AWS, Intel and Red Hat.
Docker company history
Docker has rapidly evolved from a platform-as-a-service component to a key technology in software development and deployment, focusing on providing developers with comprehensive tools and secure workflows. The following is a timeline of major events in Docker’s history:
March 2013. Docker was first released as an open source platform under the name dotCloud. Docker Engine 1.0 launched in 2014. In 2016, Docker integrated its Swarm orchestration with Docker Engine in version 1.12. Docker’s broader goal was to build up its business with containers as a service, but eventually, these plans were overtaken by the rise of Kubernetes.
March 2017. Docker Enterprise was introduced. The company also donated its containerd container runtime utility to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation that year.
November 2019. Mirantis acquired Docker products and intellectual property around Docker Engine. The acquisition included Enterprise, DTR, UCP and Docker CLI, as well as the commercial Docker Swarm product. Mirantis initially indicated it would shift its focus to Kubernetes and eventually end support for Docker Swarm, but it later reaffirmed its intent to support and develop new features for the platform. The remaining Docker Inc. company now focuses on Docker Desktop and Docker Hub.
January 2022. Docker Desktop stopped being available for free use for enterprises. Enterprise use of Desktop requires a paid subscription plan. However, a free version is available to individuals and small businesses.
October 2023. Docker partnered with LangChain, Neo4j and Ollama to release GenAI Stack. This let developers deploy a comprehensive generative AI (GenAI) setup with minimal effort, streamlining AI application development.
January 2024. Docker introduced Docker Cloud Build, a cloud-based build service that accelerates image builds by as much as 39 times. It integrates seamlessly with Docker Desktop and supports native multiarchitecture builds, enhancing CI/CD workflows.
February 2025. Don Johnson was appointed CEO of Docker, succeeding Scott Johnston, to lead the company’s next phase of innovation and growth, with a strong focus on developer workflows, including AI/ML integration.
Microservices can be deployed without containers, but they are often deployed together. Understand the benefits and drawbacks of using containers for microservices.
Meredith Courtemanche contributed to an earlier version of this definition.

Resident Evil Movie: The Boys’ Homelander Actor Agrees He’d Be Good For Wesker
Resident Evil Movie: The Boys’ Homelander Actor Agrees He’d Be Good For Wesker
A new Resident Evil movie is in the works from Sony Pictures and writer-director Zach Cregger (Barbarian, Weapons). The cast hasn’t been confirmed yet, but now one famous actor has expressed interest in playing Albert Wesker.
BossLogic recently posted an edited photo of Starr’s character from the movie G20 made to look like Albert Wesker, writing, “Whoever is in charge of the new Resident Evil movie. Do it……”
Star himself responded, “I agree ”
Of course, nothing is confirmed here, and Starr may just be joking around. We also don’t even know if Wesker will be in the movie. Starr’s Homelander character is a menacingly evil bad guy, so he definitely has experience playing someone with that temperament.
Paul W.S. Anderson made a series of Resident Evil movies that made a billion dollars, but the new one won’t be anything like those.
Austin Abrams had been cast in the new Resident Evil movie as a lead, while Oscar-winner Mikey Madison is said to be in the mix for a part. Production on the movie is said to begin later this year.
Cregger’s newest movie, Weapons, is coming to theaters this August, starring Josh Brolin and Julia Garner. His best-received film, Barbarian, was released in 2022.
The new Resident Evil movie is set for release in theaters in September 2026. It won’t be the only video game movie coming out that year, as Nintendo’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2, which may be called Super Mario World, is coming in April 2026.
Cregger was previously best known for his work in the comedy troupe The Whitest Kids U’Know. He co-directed 2009’s Miss March with his late WKUK co-star Trevor Moore, but it was Barbarian that catapulted Cregger to a new level of fame and success. He is reportedly receiving a fee of $20 million to write and direct the new Resident Evil movie for Sony.

2 Killer Whales and 12 Dolphins Abandoned at Closed Marine Park. 4 Months Later, Their Fate Is Still Uncertain
2 Killer Whales and 12 Dolphins Abandoned at Closed Marine Park. 4 Months Later, Their Fate Is Still Uncertain
Newly released footage of two killer whales and 12 dolphins that have been left behind at the closed Marineland Antibes in France has led to increased calls for them to be safely rehomed
The marine park closed its doors in January 2025, citing French laws about the use of dolphins and whales in performances
One organization has offered to adopt the whales, who were born in captivity and cannot be released into the wild
There are increased calls to find a solution for two killer whales and 12 dolphins that are still being housed in an abandoned marine park in France.
Marineland Antibes closed its doors in January 2025, citing a French law that banned the use of dolphins and whales in live performances, per the BBC. The outlet reported that those shows were responsible for attracting the majority of the park’s visitors.
Although the business has not operated since January, two orcas — mother-son pair Wikie, 23, and Keijo, 11, both of whom were born in captivity — are still being kept in tanks on the property, which is falling into disrepair.
Newly released footage obtained by the activist group TideBreakers has gone viral and shows the whales and dolphins at the site as the French government continues to debate the best course of action.

Marineland Antibes photographed in February 2025, one month after closing its doors
According to TideBreakers, the footage is dated May 7. It was shot from above the park and appears to show that the water has tanks containing algae.
“Tragically, [Marineland Antibes is] still home to Wikie and Keijo, the last 2 captive orcas in France. The mother and son remain trapped there, waiting for their fate in crumbling tanks,” the organization wrote in a statement on Facebook.
“The abandoned park is also home to 12 dolphins that have been left to rot in the algae-infested, deteriorating tanks. Marineland’s owners also own Shouka, Wikie’s sister and Keijo’s aunt, who lives at SeaWorld San Diego,” the statement concluded.

In a further statement shared with PEOPLE, the organization said that the fate of the animals “demands global attention.”
“If these whales become ill, this bonded pair — a mother and her son — will likely be euthanized or succumb to the deteriorating environment,” they said, noting that their tank-mate Inouk had “died after swallowing a small piece of metal, which caused severe inflammation and peritonitis.”
Although the organization is “firmly opposed to captivity,” the statement stressed that “the only other viable option may be relocation to a better facility equipped to care for orcas.”

“We are running out of options. The most humane and sustainable solution to phasing out orca captivity is the creation of sanctuaries. Sadly, no operational sanctuaries for orcas currently exist. The best interim solution would be to build a temporary holding tank for Wikie and Keijo until a sanctuary becomes available,” they said.
“But time is running out — this is an emergency, and reports suggest that euthanasia is now being seriously considered,” they claimed, adding, “After years of entertaining the public, they deserve a clean and safe environment where they can live out their remaining years with dignity.”
Marinelands Antibes is responsible for caring for the animals while they are still on the property. However, the French government will ultimately decide the fate of the animals, according to U.K. outlet, the Daily Mail.
The government did not approve of a plan to send Wikie and Keijo to Japan, and an attempt to rehome them in Spain was denied by the Spanish government, according to the BBC.
As concerns grow about the ******** of the animals, the nonprofit organization Whale Sanctuary Project is renewing calls for the French government to consider its proposal. The organization wants to build a sanctuary for the whales off the coast of Canada in the province of Nova Scotia.
TideBreakers / SWNS
The whales that have been left behind in Marineland Antibes
In April, the organization reaffirmed its interest in re-homing the whales in a post on their website.
“The Whale Sanctuary Project is making it clear again to all parties that we are ready to work with the French government, with Marineland Antibes, and with any and all other organizations to bring Wikie and Keijo to the sanctuary we are preparing in Nova Scotia,” it read.
They cited a report by France’s General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Ecology, which described their solution to the problem as the “most credible innovative solution among the sanctuary projects.”
Their sanctuary would allow the whales to live in approximately 100 acres of ocean that would be netted off, per the BBC.
WSP would reportedly be working with a team that helped build a similar sanctuary for Keiko, a famed whale that starred in the movie Free ******.
Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.
Keiko’s sanctuary was only temporary as he was born in the wild and eventually joined a pod of orcas. However, the proposal for Wikie and Keijo would be permanent and a place where they could live out the remaining years of their lives.
In a statement shared with the BBC, managers for the park said that the animals “must leave now” and stressed “the extreme urgency of transferring the animals to an operational destination.”
The French government has reportedly expressed concerns that the move to Canada would be “too strenuous” for Wikie and Keijo, per the Daily Mail.
The fate of the 12 dolphins is still unclear.
PEOPLE contacted the Whale Sanctuary Project for comment but has not heard back at the time of publishing.
