Steam could be coming to the Microsoft Store – here’s what that could mean for you
Steam could soon appear in the Microsoft Store, a rumor claims
A leaker says the apps’ compatibility is being tested internally
It backs up the idea that future Xboxes will be more like PCs than consoles
For years, gamers have suffered from the problem of platform fragmentation: with so many competing digital stores, from Steam to Epic to GOG and more, it’s not uncommon for users to have to maintain a huge slate of launchers and libraries in order to keep track of all their titles.
But things could be about to get better in a small way, according to a recent leak from @eXtas1stv on X. The poster claimed (via a machine translation) that “Xbox has confirmed the internal tests to add Steam to the Microsoft Store.”
In a linked video on YouTube, @eXtas1stv claimed that “Microsoft has just officially added the Steam application within the support software for its devices, appearing under the name of ‘Steam Developer Beta’.”
You may like
The leaker added that “This, logically, is currently only available to certain employees and people who collaborate with Microsoft,” although they said it would be added to Microsoft’s Insider programs over time.
They also said, “This integration will allow users to run Steam more smoothly and directly from Windows environments.”
Interestingly, @eXtas1stv believes that future Xbox hardware will be more like a PC than a console, and that “everything is going to be developed around PC environments” – an idea we’ve seen before.
These environments will need Steam integration, @eXtas1stv believes, and Steam will be available in the Microsoft Store in these upcoming devices. The Epic Games Store could also make an appearance in the Microsoft Store, according to @eXtas1stv’s video.

That syncing feeling
However, we only really have @eXtas1stv’s word that Steam is being tested in the Microsoft Store, and we haven’t been able to get any direct proof that could confirm the claims made on X and YouTube. So, if Steam really is going to be integrated into the Microsoft Store, how would this work?
One possibility has been floated by Notebookcheck, which is through backend linking. This would basically involve connecting your Steam account to the Microsoft Store, without the two platforms merging in any way. This is currently already used to link Steam with things like the EA app and Sony’s PlayStation platform, and this helps sync achievements and game progress.
If there is any weight to @eXtas1stv’s claims, and Microsoft really is testing this with its Insider program, then we could see some evidence come to light over the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned for updates.

However, more near-term, following significant stock price appreciation & outperformance, we believe the risk/reward in NFLX shares is becoming more balanced.” UBS upgrades Delta and United to buy from neutral UBS said it sees an improving second half for the two airline stocks. “We are upgrading DAL and UAL from Neutral to Buy. Recent tariff relief due to the 90 day agreement with China and framework with the *** support a shift in our base case from a downturn in the economy to stability / slow growth.” Loop upgrades Charter to buy from hold Loop said it’s bullish on the cable company’s merger with Cox. “We are upgrading CHTR to a Buy rating and increasing our price target to $510 from $430, driven by the enhanced growth prospects from the proposed merger with Cox Communications.” JPMorgan upgrades Marqeta to overweight from neutral JPMorgan said it’s turning more “constructive” on the fintech payment stock for the first time since 2023. “We are upgrading MQ from Neutral to Overweight. Since we downgraded the stock in March 2023, the company has managed through: (1) the majority of its largest customer renewals, most notably Block, (2) regulatory related customer onboarding delays which slowed 2024-25 growth and (3) management changes.” Goldman Sachs reiterates Snowflake as buy Goldman said it’s bullish on the stock heading into earnings on Wednesday. “We continue viewing Snowflake as a high-quality asset capable of scaling to $10bn+ with durable mid-20’s topline growth and 25%+ FCFM [free cash flow model].” JPMorgan upgrades Cognizant to overweight from neutral JPMorgan said the IT services company is executing well. ” CTSH has made significant strides in closing the growth gap vs. peers through its focus on execution, large deals and employee retention under CEO Ravi Kumar.” Morgan Stanley reiterates Apple and Meta as overweight The firm said Meta remains over-owned by large cap institutional investors and that Apple remains under-owned. “AAPL remains the most under-owned mega cap tech stock we track, while META remains the most over-owned Northcoast downgrades GE Aerospace to neutral from buy The firm downgraded the stock mainly on valuation. “We are downgrading GE Aerospace (GE) to a NEUTRAL rating following a sharp trading rally over the last few weeks that seemingly coincided with reduced concerns about global trade war fallout, the more manageable import tariff impact seen for the aero OEMs and tier-one suppliers, improved commercial aircraft production visibility, and a slew of positive industry-related headlines.” Wells Fargo downgrades Reddit to equal weight from overweight Wells said in its downgrade of Reddit that it’s concerned about user declines. “Recent user disruptions likely more permanent, as search user behavior change accelerates w/ Google likely to integrate full AI search capabilities soon. See threats not only to Reddit , but to all those dependent upon search traffic. Downgrade to EW.” Wells Fargo upgrades Rxsight to overweight from equal weight Wells said the ophthalmic medtech company has a differentiated offering. “We upgrade RXST to Overweight from Equal Weight and raise our PT to $25 (~4x ’26E sales) from $17. We see an attractive valuation at the current level that appears to deeply discount RXST’s differentiated technology and incremental TAM opportunities. Bank of America initiates Matador Resources as buy The firm said the oil and gas producer is well positioned. “We initiate coverage of Matador Resources (MTDR), a mid-cap oil-focused E & P with operations primarily in New Mexico’s Eddy and Lea counties, with a Buy rating and a PO of $56.” TD Cowen downgrades UnitedHealth to hold from buy TD Cowen said it sees too many negative catalysts in recent weeks for the healthcare insurer. “We are downgrading shares of UNH from Buy to Hold and reducing our PT from $520 to $308, based on 12.0x our revised 2026 EPS est.” TD Cowen downgrades Shake Shack to hold from buy TD Cowen downgraded the burger chain on valuation. ” SHAK now trades in excess of the 3Y avg FY2 EV/EBITDA, leading us to believe the challenged restaurant spending backdrop limits further multiple expansion, particularly in the crowded burger category where the concept lacks category leadership.” Piper Sandler upgrades Solventum to overweight from neutral Piper said it sees strong execution for the healthcare company. “We’re upgrading shares of SOLV to OW and raising our price target to $87. Recent events had us warming to this stock the past few months, and we had been waiting for more visibility on a couple of items before adjusting our rating – another quarter of better top-line performance and clarity on the tariff risk for SOLV.” Evercore ISI adds a tactical outperform on Home Depot Evercore said it’s bullish on Home Depot heading into earnings on Tuesday. “As long as better trends into spring are confirmed, we believe the market reaction could prove similar to Walmart albeit with a bit more kick… a meet and keep with better trends is enough to move it back to $400+ levels last seen in January.” Evercore ISI adds a tactical underperform on Lowe’s Evercore said it’s negative heading into earnings on Wednesday. “We expect LOW to reduce their EPS guide for 2025 to bracket our $12.10, which is 12 cents below where the street currently is. While we believe the market does anticipate comps below peer HD, we think the 200bp magnitude, reduction of buyback, and lowering of guidance is not fully in the stock which has only underperformed HD by 300bp ytd.” Cantor Fitzgerald reiterates Tesla as overweight Cantor said it sees a slew of positive catalysts in the months ahead for Tesla. “With shares currently trading at ~$350, we remain bullish ahead of several material near-term potential catalysts.”

Biden and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians after the Friday diagnosis, his office said. The former president was diagnosed with “prostate *******, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” according to his office’s statement. Keir Starmer banks on public being over Brexit
Keir Starmer banks on public being over Brexit
This is undeniably a significant deal. In a funny way, though, for Sir Keir Starmer to succeed he needs it to seem as insignificant and uncontroversial as possible.
For many in politics, wading through the details of this agreement will be an act of nostalgia – or perhaps deeply triggering.
Dynamic alignment. Sanitary and phytosanitary checks. Fishing quotas. Jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.
These are concepts, institutions and trade-offs which came to dominate British politics for much of the past decade. And with good reason: as the *** navigated its divorce with the EU, these technical questions became deeply political as they shaped the post-Brexit relationship.
Sir Keir’s big bet is that nobody really cares any more. The view at the top of government is that there is no public clamour to reopen the biggest questions of Brexit – membership of the single market and customs union – but that making the relationship smoother within those parameters is mere pragmatic common sense.
Of course pragmatism lies in the eyes of the beholder. The Conservatives have lambasted the deal as “surrender”, attacking both the 12-year extension to existing fishing quotas and the commitment for the *** to follow EU rules on agriculture.
Reform ***, in many ways the successor to the Brexit Party and UKIP, are unsurprisingly making a similar argument.
On the other side of the equation, the Liberal Democrats welcomed “some positive first steps” but urged the prime minister to “be more ambitious”.
Their position is that the *** should rejoin the EU’s customs union – an agreement between member states not to charge tariffs on each other’s goods.
What will prove revealing over the coming days, weeks, and months is not just those opposition parties’ positions but how much they campaign on them.
If opposition to today’s deal becomes a significant part of these parties’ platforms, it will tell us that they believe there is in fact plenty of controversy yet in the decades-long debate over the ***’s relationship with the EU.
If that’s right, then today’s main significance may prove to have been thrusting questions about Brexit right back to the centre of political life.
But if Sir Keir is right that the bulk of the public simply wants as little friction with the EU as possible, then he could prove to be our first truly post-Brexit prime minister.

It’s Unfair How Much Even EA Underestimates Mercedes Drivers
It’s Unfair How Much Even EA Underestimates Mercedes Drivers
Every year, F1 fans who are also gamers mark their calendars for Codemasters and EA Sports’ latest addition to the long-running F1 game. This open-wheel racing game has evolved a lot since its launch. It was once only enjoyable for a single-player career-focused game; now it has multiple options: career modes, quick races, online racing, and even co-op championships. These games have gone from simple racing games to proper simulations, with better game physics, mechanics, and everything else in between. It is not just a game anymore; it’s a full-blown motorsport experience. And the latest installment, which is set to come out on May 30, the F1 25, is no exception either. From whatever gameplay footage we have gotten, it is clear they have refined handling, upgraded broadcast presentation, and subtle tweaks to race weekends and driver feedback.
One of the things that creates a lot of buzz each year, apart from the mechanics, graphics, and gameplay, is the driver rating system, which initiates many conversations. Much like FIFA or Madden, F1 gives fans a reason to care not just about speed on the track but also about performance on paper. These ratings, which are often updated throughout the season, spark debates.
This year’s driver ratings are also out, and it looks like they went with some numbers that many might find controversial. Drivers like Max Verstappen and all still have a safe number, but some of the others from the Mercedes camp, like Kimi Antonelli, have a questionable rating. So let’s dive into a list of drivers who we think were robbed of better points.
Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes AMG F1 )
Kimi Antonelli | Credits: Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1
Starting with the most obvious name, we feel the Italian rookie is rated blindly. Kimi Antonelli’s 72 overall rating in F1 25 doesn’t make sense. EA’s stats will make you feel like the Mercedes rookie is barely holding on to his F1 seat, unlike a teen who is proving he belongs in the top-tier teams. Sure, he is young and insane, but if you’ve been watching the actual 2025 season unfold, you know those numbers don’t match what’s happening on track.
Let’s look at his numbers: Overall: 72, Awareness: 79, Experience: 50, Pace: 76, and Racecraft: 67. If you look at the overall list, he is in the 19th position, absurd, right? The experience rating at 50? That sounds fair. Antonelli just made the leap from Formula 2, and EA’s system generally doesn’t count rookies in this area, but that is the only realistic part of the game.
The absurd racecraft rating of 67 is laughable. This young Italian has already earned Driver of the Day honors this season and has shown real composure in wheel-to-wheel battles. In the last six races, he’s finished in the top 10 five times, and the only time he crossed the top 10 mark, he finished in a close 11th. Even his Pace at 76 seems like a blind rating. Antonelli has gone toe-to-toe with insane midfielders and also held up pretty well by himself during qualifying.
He is ranked 19th overall, below drivers like Jack Doohan, Liam Lawson, and Gabriel Bortoloto, who have all managed not to score a single point in the current season.
Oscar Piastri (McLaren)
Oscar Piastri | Credits: F1
Oscar Piastri was also put in a weird place when EA got some things right, but others not so much. Piastri holds a respectable 87 overall rating in F1 25, with Racecraft at 92, Pace at 87, Awareness at 86, and Experience at 72. Looks fine, right? But the more you check his races, things don’t seem to add up.
His experience is rated at just 72. Now, this isn’t a rookie we are talking about; this *********** driver is now in his third season and has shown more consistency than many of the vets on the grid. He has taken part in some high-pressure battles, enough podium battles, and outperformed his teammate on multiple occasions despite being on the same team. He is no longer a promising young driver but serious Championship material.
It doesn’t make sense that someone of this caliber and performance is rated 9th on the list despite leading the grid this season.
Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin)
Fernando Alonso | Credits: F1
Another notable number that felt out of place for this season was Fernando Alonso. Agreed that he is a legend and has an overall rating of 90 in F1 25. But putting him ahead of Oscar Piastri, especially this season, does not make sense. Alonso has cemented his legacy after lifting the Championship trophy twice. But when you start breaking down his F1 25 numbers, you will start questioning if EA is following legacy and nostalgia over reality.
He is rated with 87 Experience, 96 Racecraft, 88 Awareness, and 88 Pace. That 96 for Racecraft is insane; it is basically saying he is one of the fastest and greatest. While these numbers would have worked a few years ago, his recent performance is in strong contrast to these numbers. While it’s hard to say, his performance lately has been quite disappointing. He has not even finished in the top ten this season, so ranking him higher than Piastri puts a big question mark on EA’s ranking system.
While these were some of the most notable ones, they were not the last of the questionable ones. Placing Carlos Sainz Jr. above Lewis Hamilton did not make sense if they were planning to go with legacy over reality. Imagine winning the World Championship 7 times and 8 times for those crazy fans, only to end up a place below the guy whose seat you just took.
While the rest of the season remains, we can only hope the numbers start to make more sense. Other racing drivers were placed: Number 1 for Max Verstappen, Lando Norris at 2, Charles Leclerc at 3, and George Russell at 4.
F1 25 launches on May 30, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

JD Vance meets Pope Leo at the ********, gives him a Bears jersey
JD Vance meets Pope Leo at the ********, gives him a Bears jersey
Rome — Pope Leo XIV and Vice President JD Vance met at the ******** on Monday ahead of a flurry of U.S.-led diplomatic efforts aimed at making progress on a ceasefire in Russia’s war in Ukraine. Vance, a Catholic convert, had led the U.S. delegation to the formal Mass opening the pontificate of the first American pope. Joining him at the meeting on Monday was Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is also Catholic, Vance spokesperson Luke Schroeder said.
“There was an exchange of views on some current international issues, calling for respect for humanitarian law and international law in areas of conflict and for a negotiated solution between the parties involved,” according to a ******** statement after their meeting.
There was also a customary exchange of gifts, with Vance presenting the Chicago-born pontiff a Bears jersey. The pope is also a White Sox fan, his brother confirmed earlier this month.
The ******** listed Vance’s delegation as the first of several private audiences Leo was having Monday with people who had come to Rome for his inaugural Mass, including other Christian leaders and a group of faithful from his old diocese in Chiclayo, Peru.

The ********, which was largely sidelined during the first three years of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, has offered to host any peace talks while continuing humanitarian efforts to facilitate prisoner swaps and reunite Ukrainian children taken by Russia.
After greeting Leo briefly at the end of Sunday’s Mass, Vance spent the rest of the day in separate meetings, including with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He also met with European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Italy’s Premier Giorgia Meloni, who said she hoped the trialateral meeting could be a “new beginning.”
In the evening, Meloni spoke by phone with President Trump and several other European leaders ahead of Mr. Trump’s expected call with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin on Monday, according to a statement from Meloni’s office.
Leo, the former Cardinal Robert Prevost, is a Chicago-born Augustinian missionary who spent the bulk of his ministry in Chiclayo, a commercial city of around 800,000 on Peru’s northern Pacific coast.
In the days since his May 8 election, Leo has vowed “every effort” to help bring peace to Ukraine. He also has emphasized his continuity with Pope Francis, who made caring for migrants and the poor a priority of his pontificate.
Before his election, Prevost shared news articles on X that were critical of the Trump administration’s plans for mass deportations of migrants.
Vance was one of the last foreign officials to meet with Francis before the Argentine pope’s April 21 death. The two had tangled over migration, with Francis publicly rebuking the Trump administration’s deportation plan and correcting Vance’s theological justification for it.

Trump to press Putin to end ‘bloodbath’ in Ukraine
Trump to press Putin to end ‘bloodbath’ in Ukraine

Mikhail Metzel | Evelyn Hockstein | Via Reuters
U.S. President Donald Trump will speak separately with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday in hopes of ending the “bloodbath” in Ukraine, amid concerns over Washington’s ongoing push to broker peace-making.
“HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE A PRODUCTIVE DAY, A CEASEFIRE WILL TAKE PLACE, AND THIS VERY VIOLENT WAR, A WAR THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED, WILL END,” Trump wrote on his Truth social media platform Saturday in his customary all-capitalized comments.
The subject of the call will be trade and stopping the “bloodbath” of Russian and Ukrainian deaths, he said.
His call with Putin will take place at 5 p.m. Moscow time (10:00 a.m. E.T.) and will take into account the outcome of negotiations carried out last week in Istanbul, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Monday, according to Google-translated comments carried by Russian state news agency Tass.
The U.S. mediation is set to happen after representatives from Russia and Ukraine held their first face-to-face talks since 2022 in Istanbul last week, as part of downgraded discussions that had originally been hoped to bring together Moscow and Kyiv’s heads of state. Putin and Trump ultimately spurned the meeting, which culminated in an agreement to exchange prisoners of war, but failed to progress the peace process.
Talks to end the three-year war in Ukraine have languished in recent months, despite a U.S. drive to materialize Trump’s pledge to achieve peace urgently. Threats from Trump that Washington could withdraw from the diplomatic process in the absence of an imminent resolution have raised concerns that the White House might diminish its critical military and humanitarian support for Ukraine.
Trump, whose revived dormant relations with the Kremlin after years of frigidity under his predecessor Joe Biden’s administration, has recently turned tack on his reluctance to directly criticize Putin, increasingly levying the possibility of further sanctions on Moscow and backing a Ukraine and Europe-endorsed call for a 30-day ceasefire.
The contours of a temporary truce or permanent peace proposal have remained elusive, amid maximalist Russian demands and Zelenskyy’s unwillingness to entertain potential territorial concessions.
“The U.S. has presented a strong peace plan and we welcome the Prisoner of War exchange agreement reached in Istanbul. Let’s not miss this huge opportunity. The time for ending this war is now,” U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on social media Saturday, following a call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“He explained to me that they are going to be preparing a document outlining their requirements for a ceasefire that will then lead to broader negotiations,” Rubio said in a later TV interview with CBS. “Obviously, the Ukrainian side is going to be working on their own proposal. And hopefully that will be forthcoming soon.”
Yet the signs of Washington’s dwindling patience with the stalled process linger.
“We don’t want to be involved in this process of just endless talks. There has to be some progress, some movement forward,” Rubio stressed.
On Sunday, Zelenskyy also met with Rubio and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, decrying on social media the “low level delegation of non-decision-makers” deployed by Russia to Istanbul last week, adding that he reaffirmed that “Ukraine is ready to be engaged in real diplomacy and underscored the importance of a full and unconditional ceasefire as soon as possible.”
Sidelined throughout much of the recent peace brokering, European officials have raced to engage with the White House, with British, U.S., Italian, French and ******* leaders discussing Trump’s upcoming engagement with Putin during a call on Sunday.
“Looking ahead to President Trump’s call with President Putin tomorrow, the leaders discussed the need for an unconditional ceasefire and for President Putin to take peace talks seriously,” a British government readout said. “They also discussed the use of sanctions if Russia failed to engage seriously in a ceasefire and peace talks.”

Europa League final: Mason Mount’s Manchester United road to recovery leads him to Bilbao
Europa League final: Mason Mount’s Manchester United road to recovery leads him to Bilbao
Mason Mount has never lost his belief that one day a moment would come to transform his time at Manchester United.
After an injury-ravaged time at the club since joining in June 2023, his first goal as a United player at Old Trafford on 8 May may just have been that moment.
United were struggling, unconvincing in their quest to hold off Athletic Bilbao and reach the Europa League final.
After a 3-0 first-leg win, United were 1-0 down and progressing to the final was not a foregone conclusion.
Up stepped Mount. The midfielder turned quickly onto a short pass from Leny Yoro and curled a shot from just inside the penalty area into the corner of the net.
The goal released the building tension in the stadium. Eighteen minutes later, Mount scored again, although by that time Ruben Amorim’s side were clear and the meeting with Tottenham in Bilbao was already secure.
“It has not been easy,” the 26-year-old reflected. “But I’ve stayed very focused and always had the end goal in my mind, always felt it would come good, that something will happen and I’ll get a moment.
“Obviously, I’ve had a bit of time for it to sink in now. I watched the goals and the whole game over a couple times.
“It was an amazing night for me. Everything just happened so quickly. I feel like it was a bit of like a flow state, I wasn’t thinking much and then I scored two goals, and we win the game.”

King of Crabs – Invasion brings PvP crustacean action back to mobile
King of Crabs – Invasion brings PvP crustacean action back to mobile
King of Crabs – Invasion is coming to iOS and Android May 30th
It sees the King of Crabs franchise take an RTS twist
Overwhelm your opponents with legions of crabs in specialised roles
If you’re a longtime reader, you may recall that we reviewed a funny little battle royale called King of Crabs back in 2019. And while it didn’t really strike a chord with our reviewer, the developer has apparently taken another crack at the King of Crabs series with their upcoming release, King of Crabs – Invasion.
Yes, developer Robot Squid has decided that rather than riffing on the battle royale genre, they’re instead going for the RTS niche. In a similar vein to something like Age of War, King of Crabs – Invasion pits you against an opponent across a linear battlefield.
You’ll need to pick and choose what units you deploy, attempting to overwhelm your opponent before getting destroyed yourself. This means everything from regular swarms of crabs, to catapults and even mace-wielding crustaceans is on the cards. But with different battlefields and obstacles, winning is easier said than done.
Crab Rave
It’s not hard to see that King of Crabs – Invasion is taking the crustacean-based mayhem of the original and translating it to a new genre. And for an irreverent a concept as crabs fighting to the death, it seems like a natural next step to make a simple but fun little RTS.
At the same time, given Cameron’s criticism that the initial concept of King of Crabs didn’t stand up to scrutiny, it does concern me that the initial humour of King of Crabs – Invasion may wear off fairly quickly. But, there’s only one way to find out, and you can discover it for yourself when King of Crabs – Invasion releases May 30th!
But if you fancy a less irreverent take on the genre, why not check out our list of the top 25 best strategy games on iOS and Android for some of our top picks in the genre for you to play right now?

Pregnancy Center Leader Reveals ‘Violent Attacks,’ Chaos as She Fact Checks ‘Fake Clinics’ Myths
Pregnancy Center Leader Reveals ‘Violent Attacks,’ Chaos as She Fact Checks ‘Fake Clinics’ Myths
Andrea Trudden, vice-president of communications and marketing at Heartbeat International, a massive network of crisis pregnancy centers, believes there are many myths and misconceptions being perpetuated by pro-choice activists — and she joined CBN News to correct the record.
“Pregnancy health organizations have been around for more than 50 years, and what they do provide is care and resources for pregnant women who may be facing a difficult decision,” Trudden said. “It’s unexpected — she just needs some support. Maybe some medical care, so an ultrasound and things like that.”
The pro-life leader said some people simply don’t like pregnancy centers because “they do not provide abortion” and, thus, will fall victim to attack. Critics will claim pro-life centers like this aren’t actually medical clinics, though Trudden pushed back on this assertion.
“The reality is, 80% of our affiliates, which we have 2,200 in the states — 3,700 around the world — 80% of them are pregnancy help medical clinics, which means that they do fall under the guidance of a medical director,” she said. “That is a claim that you will hear, quite often … that they are fake clinics where the reality is actually quite the opposite.”
The non-medical centers provide parenting classes and what Trudden described as “material aid” for women, among other services. She said pro-choice activists will often try to confuse women about these facts and details.
“[Also,] 97% of all women who are actual clients actually give us satisfactory ratings,” Trudden said. “So they appreciate the help and support that they’re given through these pregnancy help organizations.”
She also discussed the impact of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the Supreme Court case that overturned Roe v. Wade and returned abortion rights to the states. When the draft of the decision leaked, she said pro-life pregnancy centers were immediately under attack.
“What we saw right away is actually some violent attacks against pregnancy help organizations,” she said. “So they did have to shift security measures, and we were providing them with some information and education as to how they could do that and properly prepare for … better security, how they can better engage with the community.”
Abortion pill reversal — a process meant to help women who start the abortion pill process and change their minds — is also becoming more prevalent after the fall of Roe, as these centers seek to meet demand.
Some of what these organizations now have to do surrounds “educating the community about the dangers of the abortion pill,” and then letting them know about abortion pill reversal.
“The abortion pill is actually two parts — there’s two different pills,” she said. “If, after taking that first pill, the woman regrets that choice, she has a chance to reverse that decision. Two out of three times it works, which is fantastic. She can call the Abortion Pill Rescue Network helpline and be connected to a local medical professional to help her through this.”
Trudden said more than 6,000 lives have been saved as a result of abortion pill reversal, though she said restrictions have been placed on pro-life centers in locations like California and New York that prevent touting the measure, claiming false advertising.

Global health body counts the cost of funding cuts
Global health body counts the cost of funding cuts
People in at least 70 countries are missing out on medical treatment due to funding cuts to aid program, the World Health Organisation says, adding it also faces major financial challenges.
“Patients are missing out on treatments, health facilities have closed, health workers have lost their jobs, and people face increased out-of-pocket health spending,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in an address to the World Health Assembly.
The WHO is currently facing a $US600 million ($A940 million) hole in its annual budget and cuts of 21 per cent over the next two-year *******.
Hundreds of WHO officials are joining donors and diplomats in Geneva from Monday to discuss how to cope with crises from mpox to cholera without their main funder, the United States.
As the US prepares to exit the organisation, China is set to become the biggest provider of state fees – one of the WHO’s main streams of funding alongside donations.
“Many ministers have told me that sudden and steep cuts to bilateral aid are causing severe disruption in their countries, and imperilling the health of millions of people,” Tedros added.
Tedros said states should consider spending more money on global health, at a time when defence expenditure is increasing: “Countries spend vast sums protecting themselves against attacks from other countries, but relatively little on protecting themselves from an invisible enemy that can cause far more damage.”
WHO has revised down its budget to $US4.2 billion for the next two years – $US2.1 billion a year.
“2.1 billion dollars is the equivalent of global military expenditure every eight hours,” Tedros told delegates.
He added that the WHO has already taken steps to cut its workforce, budget and the scope of its work. Last week it cut half of its senior leadership team.

Trump to press Putin to end ‘bloodbath’ in Ukraine
Trump to press Putin to end ‘bloodbath’ in Ukraine

Donald Trump Forwards Shocker Of A Plea For Barack Obama
Donald Trump Forwards Shocker Of A Plea For Barack Obama
President Donald Trump on Sunday amplified a social media post insinuating that former President Barack Obama should face a “military tribunal” ― and a public one at that.
On Truth Social, Trump shared an entry from a right-wing X user with a photo of Trump and Obama accompanied by the caption: “ALL ROADS LEAD TO OBAMA… RETRUTH IF YOU WANT PUBLIC MILITARY TRIBUNALS.”
Trump didn’t comment on the post. But the original poster’s apparent QAnon adherence in their X profile description spotlighted the president’s willingness to give voice to the most extreme parts of his base.
Trump’s specific reason for advancing such a suggestion isn’t clear. He has repeatedly questioned Obama’s American birth and accused Obama of treason for spying on his 2016 campaign without proof. Trump defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton that year to succeed Obama in the White House.
Military tribunals are generally used to try service members accused of serious offenses or suspected terrorists, in addition to civilians who allegedly commit crimes that compromise national security.
Trump also advanced accusatorytakes on ex-FBI Director James Comey’s social media photo of seashells on the beach with the message “86 47,” which resulted in Comey being interviewed by the Secret Service. Trump and several Republicans accused Comey of calling for his assassination.
Trump later sent well wishes to ex-President Joe Biden when news of his advanced prostate ******* came out.

Government sets up guidance for 10-year R&D commitment
Government sets up guidance for 10-year R&D commitment
The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) has developed a 10-year funding plan to guide public sector research and development (R&D) spending.
The government’s goal is to enable departments to implement a targeted approach and allocate 10-year budgets to specific programmes, activities and smaller research organisations to drive economic and scientific benefits associated with long-term funding.
R&D is a among the big policy bets Labour is making to drive long-term economic growth. It’s integral to the government’s forthcoming industrial strategy. The guidance recognises that some R&D initiatives, fostering greater collaboration with business and international partners and the ***’s ambition to bolster skills, require long-term funding. This funding commitment needs to be budgeted by government departments and other public sector bodies.
DSIT said it worked with the Treasury and other stakeholders to develop the principles of 10-year funding and the process by which public bodies will select specific activities or institutions for long-term funding, to provide transparency for the R&D sector.
The guidance recommends that public bodies should set a maximum limit for the proportion of R&D budget that, at any one time, should be allocated to 10-year funding. DSIT said this will retain the agility to respond to new and emerging priorities in the short and medium term.
DSIT said government departments will operate their own selection process, in line with the guidance, which covers four areas. The first, infrastructure and core capabilities, is for 10-year initiatives to support development and maintenance of core national infrastructure. The guidance also covers support for what DSIT calls “more impactful use of such infrastructure”, which it said would not be possible under shorter funding cycles.
The second area covered by the guidance for 10-year R&D funding is in attraction and retention of talent. The government plans to use longer-term funding to enable development of a pipeline of skilled researchers, scientists or engineers that will be needed as part of Labour’s Plan for Change.
The two other areas covered by the funding guidance are international collaboration and partnerships with business.
“Research and innovation, from computing and AI [artificial intelligence] to health breakthroughs, need stability of funding,” said science minister Patrick Vallance. “We are delivering on our manifesto commitment to support and encourage public bodies to deliver long-term, 10-year funding streams where appropriate, while retaining the flexibility of shorter-term cycles to deal with emerging priorities.
“This change will provide certainty to certain types of research organisations and unlock vital business investment into our world-class research sector to drive the growth at the heart of our Plan for Change,” he said.
In the 2024 Autumn Budget, the government committed to invest £20.4bn on research and development in 2025-26.
Earlier in May, the National Audit Committee (NAO) reported that UKRI, the organisation that provides multi-year funding to support the ***’s research and innovation strategy, faces a lack of joined-up direction from government departments.
The UKRI’s work feeds into government departments and public bodies research and innovation-led initiatives. The NAO said that 24 government departments and public bodies have published the main research questions they are facing.

*** to regulate buy now, pay later firms like Klarna and Affirm
*** to regulate buy now, pay later firms like Klarna and Affirm
Klarna is synonymous with the “buy now, pay later” trend of making a purchase and deferring payment until the end of the month or paying over interest-free monthly installments.
Nikolas Kokovlis | Nurphoto | Getty Images
The U.K. government on Monday laid out proposals to bring short-term loans under formal rules as it looks to clamp down on the “wild west” of the buy now, pay later sector.
Fintech firms like Klarna and Block’s Afterpay have flourished by offering interest-free financing on everything from fashion and gadgets to food deliveries — while at the same time stoking concerns around affordability. The space is highly competitive, with U.S. player Affirm launching in the U.K. just last year.
City Minister Emma Reynolds said in a statement Monday that the U.K.’s new rules were designed to tackle a sense of “wild west” in the buy now, pay later (BNPL) space, adding the measures “will protect shoppers from debt traps and give the sector the certainty it needs to invest, grow, and create jobs.”
Under the U.K. proposals, BNPL firms will be required to make upfront checks to ensure people can repay what they borrow and make it easier for customers to access refunds.
Consumers will also be able to take BNPL complaints to the Financial Ombudsman, a service created by the U.K. Parliament to settle disputes between consumers and financial services firms.
The rules are expected to come into force next year, according to the government.
Klarna said it has long supported calls to bring BNPL into the regulatory fold. “It’s good to see progress on regulation, and we look forward to working with the FCA on rules to protect consumers and encourage innovation,” a spokesperson for the company told CNBC via email.
“Regulation will give clarity and consistency to the sector, establishing a consistent operating environment and compliance standards for all providers,” spokesperson for Clearpay, the U.K. arm of Afterpay, said in an emailed statement.
“It will also create a more sustainable foundation for the future of BNPL as it continues to grow as an everyday payment option for consumers.”
While buy now, pay later firms have publicly expressed support for regulation, many were concerned about regulators applying outdated rules to their business models. The Consumer Credit Act, which regulates lending and borrowing in the U.K., has existed for over 50 years.
For its part, the government said it plans to adapt the Consumer Credit Act to allow for a “modern, pro-growth framework that reflects how people borrow today.”
