  1. More players. More choices. Unlocking HDMI gaming features More players. More choices. Unlocking HDMI gaming features Gamers have more freedom and choices than ever to play in every room in their house, in other locations or even on the move, without breaking the bank. All major manufacturers of HDTVs include key HDMI® gaming features that make playing feel more immersive and responsive, reduce lag and maximize the overall experience. Add in the choice of using 4K or even upscaled 8K, and you don’t have to play in an esports arena to get the full effects the game designers intend. The high adoption rate of HDTVs with the gaming features also means there are more choices for gamers than just relying on specialized gaming monitors; although both types of displays have multiple features and benefits that gamers should check, especially with the growing category of smart HDMI-enabled monitors. Three HDMI gaming features make all of the difference. They include: You may like Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), which reduces or eliminates lag, judder, and frame tearing for more fluid and better detailed gameplay. VRR enables a gaming source, such as a console or computer, to deliver frames as fast as it can, which in many cases is slower than the normal static refresh rate. Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), which enables the ideal latency setting to be set automatically allowing for smooth, lag-free and uninterrupted viewing and interactivity. In many cases this is referred to as game mode, and it usually has to be set manually, which involves going through menus and settings and then switching back again for normal viewing. Quick Frame Transport (QFT), which reduces latency for smoother no-lag gaming and virtual reality. QFT transports each frame at a higher rate to decrease “display latency,” which is the amount of time between a frame being ready for transport in the GPU and that frame being completely displayed. Right now, many top manufacturers offer the benefits of these HDMI gaming features and at higher refresh rates such as 144 Hz and 165 Hz for smoother, more responsive gameplay. Gaming monitors from many of these same companies and others are available with these HDMI gaming features with refresh rates up to 240 Hz, 280 Hz and even 480 Hz—but consider some may sacrifice resolution or luminance, so make sure to check the specs. There’s other good news for gamers as well. Many portable game consoles can output to an HDTV, and most of them are equipped with HDMI technology, making these portables easy to connect. It has recently been announced by Nintendo that the new Switch 2 will be bundled with an Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable for HDTV connection. These portables include: Mobile phones via a USB C to HDMI adapter and HDMI Cable. Steam Deck via the Steam Deck Docking Station and an HDMI Cable. Nintendo Switch via an HDMI Cable to a TV from the dock’s HDMI Out. Be sure to power the setup using a USB Type C plug to connect the Switch AC adapter to the dock’s AC Adapter terminal. ASUS ROG Ally using an ASUS ROG Gaming Charger Dock connected to the TV via an HDMI Cable. Lenovo Legion Go via the HDMI port on the USB-C dock. Retroid Pocket 4 Pro via a micro HDMI to HDMI Type A Cable. Of course, always be sure to connect to a TV with the correct HDMI® Cable to ensure support for the maximum bandwidth and feature set your gaming setup is capable of delivering. 2. Why did the government sign the Chagos deal now? Why did the government sign the Chagos deal now? EPA In a fast-moving world, suffused by conflict and political uncertainty, it might seem odd for the *** government to surrender sovereign British territory in a distant sea. Indeed, the government’s critics go further and say the decision to give up a key strategic foothold in the Indian Ocean is a dangerous weakening of *** security. So why has the government handed the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, a nation some thousand miles away? The answer has a legal origin and a practical conclusion. It all focuses on the joint ***-US military base on the biggest island in the archipelago, Diego Garcia. The government felt that without ceding sovereignty to Mauritius, the operation of the base would become unworkable and that would pose a greater threat to *** security. Defence Secretary John Healey told MPs that “without this deal, within weeks, we could face losing legal rulings and within just a few years the base would become inoperable”. The putative legal challenge is based on a series of judgements by various United Nations bodies that the Chagos Islands belong to Mauritius. Essentially, they argued the *** had no legal right to separate the islands from Mauritius before the former British colony became independent in the 1960s. There were votes to that effect in the UN General Assembly. But then in 2019 there was an “advisory opinion” by the UN’s International Court of Justice backed up by a later ruling of the Special Chamber of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. Ministers feared these rulings and opinions would soon become a legally binding judgement by this UN tribunal. Under pressure in the House of Commons to identify the source of this legal threat, Healey said: “There’s a range of international legal challenges and rulings against us. “The most proximate, the most potentially serious, is the tribunal of the International Convention of the Sea.” If the government lost a case there, ministers argue, the outside world would be obliged – by law – to take decisions that would interfere in the running of the base. So they argue Diego Garcia’s satellite communications would be threatened because the *** relies on a UN authority in Geneva to get access to a particular electromagnetic spectrum. They say contractors would refuse to visit the isolated base – to make repairs or deliver supplies – for fear of being sued by Mauritius. The ability to fly aircraft in and out might be challenged by international rules that govern our skies. The government’s critics – which include Conservative and Reform MPs, some foreign diplomats and even a few officials within Whitehall – challenge this argument and say the legal threat is being exaggerated. They accuse ministers of being overly submissive to international lawyers and craven to politically motivated votes at the UN. Shadow defence secretary James Cartlidge told MPs the government was “following the legal advice to act definitively to our detriment, entirely on the basis of hypothetical risk that has not yet materialised and which we could challenge”. Blocking bases The government’s second argument is that without a deal, China would get a toehold in the islands. Officials say that in the absence of an agreement, there would be no legal ban preventing Mauritius allowing a foreign power to establish a military or other presence in the islands. Under the terms of the deal, the *** can effectively veto that happening. The *** claims that without the deal, it would have no alternative but to threaten military force if China tried to set up a military facility on one of the islands. Officials also argue that Mauritius, by being paid rent for the islands, has no financial incentive to open them up to ******** investment. The government’s critics counter that for all these safeguards, the Mauritian government may well nonetheless still develop closer ties with China – and possibly even Russia. Reputation on trial The government’s broader argument is diplomatic. For years the *** has been accused by friend and foe alike of hypocrisy; for making the case for international law on the world stage but ignoring it with regard to the Chagos islands. How could the *** criticise Russia for breaking international law in Ukraine and China in the South China Sea if it was itself breaking the rules in the Indian Ocean? Ministers also argued that at a time of geopolitical uncertainty, when old allies were less reliable and new partnerships had to be formed, the Chagos row was a diplomatic boil than needed to be lanced. It was notable the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres issued a statement welcoming the deal, saying it demonstrated “the value of diplomacy in addressing historical grievances”. Again, the government’s critics dispute this conclusion, arguing the world has changed, and that we live in a time when “might is right” and close adherence to the fine print of international law is outdated and a geopolitical indulgence. Would US President Donald Trump or French President Emmanuel Macron, they ask, give up territories overseas? The government’s response to that challenge is to say that the US – which largely runs and pays for Diego Garcia – now supports the deal with Mauritius, despite earlier doubts. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said “following a comprehensive inter-agency review, the Trump Administration determined that this agreement secures the long-term, stable, and effective operation of the joint US-*** military facility at Diego Garcia”. Other members of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance also back the agreement; the base is a huge hub for the exchange of global signals intelligence. These issues will now be tested in Parliament as MPs consider whether to ratify the agreement. The government may win the vote because of its majority. But it has yet to win the argument. 4. Top $TRUMP holders head to exclusive crypto dinner with president Top $TRUMP holders head to exclusive crypto dinner with president Jonathan Raa | Nurphoto | Getty Images Nick Pinto is a marketing director at his family’s law firm in New Jersey. He’s also a crypto trader who spent enough money on Donald Trump’s meme coin to win a spot at a private ******-tie dinner with the president scheduled for Thursday night. “I was kind of early in bitcoin and ethereum, so I’ve always been trading crypto,” said the 25-year-old Pinto, who claims he finished number 72 on the leaderboard for the token contest. “Once I saw the announcement that Trump was releasing a coin, I immediately started to purchase it.” Pinto said in an interview that he spent half a million dollars on the $TRUMP meme token in order to attend the dinner, which is being held at President Trump’s private golf club in Potomac Falls, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. Pinto shared screenshots with CNBC that appear to back up his claim. The $TRUMP coin, which has no attached asset or underlying value, was launched just ahead of the president’s inauguration in January and has drawn heavy scrutiny from Democratic lawmakers who say President Trump is profiting from his position of power. The dinner was announced last month and promised to reward the top 220 token owners with “the most exclusive invitation in the world.” The top 25 finishers were also told they would get a private reception with the president, as well as a “special VIP tour.” Democratic senators called the competition a blatant example of “‘pay to play’ corruption” — the coin jumped 50% after the dinner announcement. Earlier this week, the Senate advanced a Trump-backed crypto regulation bill called the GENIUS Act after getting enough Democratic support to clear a potential filibuster. Guests for Thursday night’s dinner were required to complete a background check, according to a copy of the invitation viewed by CNBC. Attendees were instructed not to arrive before 5:30 p.m., with the dinner starting at 7 p.m. and expected to last three hours. Pinto doesn’t know what his investment in $TRUMP will get him other than the dinner. He said he thinks the tokens will be usable in a digital Trump golf game that was announced in December and is expected to launch next month, according to a press release. “There’s a few things that I want to ask him,” Pinto said. “I definitely want to find out if he’s going to want to use this coin in the game. That’s probably my top question, because not many people know about that game.” The Trump coin team didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. Because crypto wallets are pseudonymous, most participants in the competition appeared only as three- to four-letter usernames linked to cryptographic wallet addresses. Many of the winners are tied to international exchanges, according to blockchain analytics firm Inca Digital, raising concern that non-Americans may be paying for the opportunity to try and influence the U.S. president. While Pinto is going public about his participation, most of the identities tied to top wallets are unknown. Blockchain data shows that a majority of the top entrants used offshore exchanges barred to U.S. residents. An analysis by Bloomberg revealed that 19 of the top 25 wallets, and more than half of the top 220, are almost certainly owned by individuals operating outside the U.S. The competition drew an estimated $148 million in purchases from supporters around the world, a massive fundraising haul for a digital asset launched just months ago. Among those attending is Justin Sun, the ********-born founder of the TRON blockchain, who confirmed this week that he is the contest’s top-ranked investor. At current prices, Sun’s stake in $TRUMP is now worth more than $20 million. Sun was also one of the first major backers of World Liberty Financial, the Trump family’s crypto venture, buying at least $75 million of its native token “WLFI.” In 2023, U.S. regulators accused Sun of illegally selling unregistered securities and artificially inflating token prices. A month into Trump’s second White House term, a federal court filing showed the SEC was in settlement talks with Sun to resolve the civil fraud charges. Final leaderboard MemeCore, a Singapore-based crypto network that was vocal in its quest to secure a spot at the Trump dinner, landed in second place with an investment of around $19.7 million, according to a post on X that the company later deleted. MemeCore didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. Some buyers didn’t make the cut. Freight Technologies, a Houston-based logistics company, said it spent $2 million on $TRUMP tokens as part of what it called a strategic push to “champion fair and free trade” across the U.S.-Mexico border. The company still finished in 250th place. Freight trades on the Nasdaq as a penny stock and has a market cap of about $6.5 million. The final leaderboard was calculated using a time-weighted formula that factored in both the size and duration of each participant’s holdings. That means early buyers who held onto their tokens consistently, like Pinto, could outrank ******* last-minute spenders. Investors in $TRUMP, like with other meme coins, have to be prepared for big ups and downs. Immediately after its launch in January, the Trump coin spiked to a $15 billion market cap before crashing within days. It’s currently worth about $2.1 billion. That volatility has created stark winners and losers. Blockchain data shows that more than $5.2 billion in profits flowed to the top wallets, while over 590,000 wallets — mostly small retail traders — collectively lost nearly $4 billion. Since January, more than $324 million in trading fees have been routed to wallets tied to the project’s creators, according to Chainalysis. The token’s code automatically directs a cut of each transaction to these addresses, allowing the team to profit from ongoing activity. The blockchain analytics firm stopped tracking the president’s meme token about two weeks ago, citing a need to refocus resources on paying clients. The Trump family has reaped enormous financial benefit. Roughly 75% of proceeds from World Liberty Financial and more than 80% of profits from the meme coin have gone directly to the Trump Organization and affiliated entities. The project has also generated hundreds of millions of dollars in trading fees. Senator Chris Murphy, D-Conn., has introduced legislation that would ban sitting presidents from profiting off meme coins while in office. In a press conference hours before the dinner, Murphy warned that “just because the corruption is playing out in public where everybody can see, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t rampant, rapacious corruption.” He called tonight’s event “maybe the most corrupt, of all of the corruption.” Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., went further, describing the gathering as “an orgy of corruption” and accusing Trump of using the presidency “to make himself richer through crypto.” She called for changes to the GENIUS Act that would bar any president from profiting off stablecoin ventures. With Republicans in control of both chambers of Congress, Democrats have limited ability to force action. In response to CNBC’s questions about the dinner, Deputy White House Press Secretary Anna Kelly said, “The president is working to secure good deals for the American people, not for himself,” adding that he “only acts in the best interests of the American public.” Pinto, who paid $500,000 for his invitation and still holds most of his tokens, said the risk is worth it. “I didn’t put in more than I’m willing to lose,” he said. “I’m fine if it goes to zero.” WATCH: Bitcoin surges to new record high above $111,000: CNBC Crypto World Source link #Top #TRUMP #holders #exclusive #crypto #dinner #president Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content] For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]
  5. Marsh marmalises Gujarat attack for maiden IPL ton Marsh marmalises Gujarat attack for maiden IPL ton Mitch Marsh has been thumping attacks around in the Indian Premier League over 15 years with mixed success – but he’s never enjoyed a season quite like 2025 which he’s now capped with his first ever IPL ton. Australia’s T20I captain Marsh has worked wonders at the top of the order this campaign, trying to pummel the Justin Langer-coached Lucknow Super Giants towards the playoffs, only to be frustrated to miss out on making the knockouts in what he calls the best tournament in the world. But despite being their elimination, the 33-year-old powerhouse was still determined to keep thrashing on Thursday in Lucknow’s penultimate match of the season at Ahmedabad as he roared to his first ever IPL ton in his 48th knock to propel the Super Giants to a consolation 33-run win. It was the first century by an overseas player all season and took him to a total of 560 runs in just 12 innings, a tally only surpassed by the Indian trio of Sai Sudharsan (638), Shubman Gill (636) and Suryakumar Yadav (583). The eight booming sixes in his 64-ball 117 took his total of maximums to 32, a collection only bettered by his teammate Nicholas Pooran, who added another five in his 56no on Thursday to bring his tally to 40. Marsh has been Langer’s mainstay this season and some of his power hitting has been staggering, like the 25 he took off the leg-spinning wizard Rashid Khan in his first over – 6, 4, 6, 4, 4, 1. He added 121 off just 52 ****** with Pooran and reached his hundred off 56 ****** — only his second in all T20 cricket after the 100no he made for Perth Scorchers in a Big Bash match in 2021. It was a particularly striking effort after he had struggled to get off to a flyer, making just 19 off his first 15 ******. Marsh finally fell in the penultimate over, and shrugged later: “In T20s these days, if you’re 12 off 12 ****** and not timing it well, it’s panic stations. But today showed you can bat through and go on to stitch big partnerships.” Indeed, his tour de force enabled Lucknow to make a monster 2-235 with tall New Zealand quick Will O’Rourke then taking 3-27 to help restrict Gujarat to 9-202, with Shahrukh Khan’s top-scoring 57 off 29 ****** proving far from enough. For Marsh, the century felt like the reward for a “long journey” that had begun when he was playing for Deccan Chargers back in 2010, but the frustration of missing out on the playoffs still hurt. “It’s been disappointing, all teams come in to win it but the IPL is a beast of a competition, you’ve got to be on it every game,” he said. “Any team can beat any team and that makes it the best tournament in the world.” Source link #Marsh #marmalises #Gujarat #attack #maiden #IPL #ton Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  6. Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Adds Ultron, A New Map, And A Sharknado Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Adds Ultron, A New Map, And A Sharknado The team behind Marvel Rivals, one of our favorite games of last year, has revealed the changes coming next week for the game’s mid-season update. In addition to Ultron, a new playable character, there’s a new map, a new limited-time mode, and a ton of balance changes. Despite his character history of destruction and conquest, Ultron is a strategist, Marvel Rivals’ healer class. He’s also the first healer who can fly, placing him among the ranks of characters like Human Torch and Iron Man. Based on what we can see in the trailer, his primary fire is a laser that ends with a burst of damage, and he can both heal allies and grant them shield. Ultron will be accompanied by a new map, Arakko. “Once Krakoa’s sister island, Arakko has lost all its vitality,” creative director Guanguang says in the video update. It’s been overrun by a somehow-even-more-evil version of Ultron after he combined himself with Cerebro to become X-tron. A new limited-time mode called Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol will be available on June 6. It’s a single-player mode where you assemble a roster of computer-controlled heroes to battle enemies while you observe from the sky as one of Ultron’s drones. By unlocking buffs and abilities, the battles can get wacky, as the video shows off a massive Venom, a rapidly firing Hela, and a Namor with an army of Monstro spawn turrets. Season 2.5 also comes with a smattering of balance adjustments. Groot, Captain America, Emma Frost, Iron Fist, Human Torch, and Psylocke will all receive buffs, while Doctor Strange, Magneto, Squirrel Girl, and Punisher will all receive buffs. Meanwhile, Jeff will receive a “partial adjustment for a fresh experience,” reworking several of his key abilities. You can read the specific changes for each character here. Team-up abilities, one of the game’s most notable features, are also receiving some changes. Team-ups between Hawkeye and ****** Widow, Rocket and Punisher, Luna Snow and Jeff, and Spider-Man, Venom, and Peni are all being removed, and Iron Man is no longer a part of the team-up with Hulk and Namor. However, six new team-ups will be added to compensate: Luna Snow and Hawkeye, Jeff and Storm (who combine ultimates to make a Jeff-nado), Jeff and Venom, Punisher and ****** Widow, Rocket and Peni, and Iron Man and Ultron. You can find the full details of each team-up and a list of team-ups that are changing right here. Finally, Marvel Rivals will receive some new cosmetic options, including emojis you can use to react mid-game, moods you can add to your character nameplate, and the ability to see your Lord character portraits in the character select screen at the start of the game. The season 2.5 update goes live on May 30. For more Marvel Rivals, you can read our review, where we called the game “a culmination of the successful shooters that came before it.” Source link #Marvel #Rivals #Season #Adds #Ultron #Map #Sharknado Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]
  7. Google’s new Flow tool brings AI magic to video creation Google’s new Flow tool brings AI magic to video creation Google’s latest I/O event, which took place on Tuesday, showcased a striking expansion of AI across its growing range of products, with new generative tools like Imagen 4 for images, Veo 3 for video, and Flow for AI-driven filmmaking, taking center stage alongside a revamped AI-powered search experience and the premium Google AI Ultra subscription. The all-new Flow editing tool enables AI-powered movie creation and — at least at first glance — marks a significant leap in Google’s creative AI capabilities. Flow incorporates Veo, Imagen, and Gemini AI models, and the new editing tool is designed to help storytellers develop their ideas and create cinematic clips and scenes for their stories. Notably, the AI tool lets you easily produce video content by combining generated visuals and audio, which is supposed to enable a rapid workflow to arrive at the desired results. Google said that Flow is aimed at “professionals or those just getting started,” which means pretty much everyone with an interest in filmmaking. Features include camera controls that let you create precisely the kind of shot you’re after, bringing direct control of camera motion, angles, and perspectives. Other Flow features include scenebuilder, which lets you seamlessly edit and extend your existing shots, so you can reveal more of the action or smoothly transition to what happens next with continuous motion and consistent characters. Google’s new AI tool is a wake-up call for OpenAI’s Sora, which is one of Flow’s high-profile competitors. Both are designed for filmmakers and creatives to generate cinematic video scenes from text prompts, but Flow distinguishes itself by integrating native audio generation. Established creatives and those on film crews will be looking at these new tools with some trepidation, with Google’s latest AI-powered content creation products having even greater potential to disrupt traditional filmmaking, advertising, and similar industries. But some filmmakers are embracing the profound changes heading their way, with Oscar-nominated director Darren Aronofsky, for one, announcing a partnership with Google for a new generative-AI storytelling initiative to create short films using some of Google’s newly announced tools, IndieWire reported. “Filmmaking has always been driven by technology,” Aronofsky said in a statement. “After the Lumiere Brothers and Edison’s ground-breaking invention, filmmakers unleashed the hidden storytelling power of cameras. Later technological breakthroughs — sound, color, VFX — allowed us to tell stories in ways that couldn’t be told before. Today is no different. Now is the moment to explore these new tools and shape them for the future of storytelling.” Flow is available today for Google AI Pro and Ultra plan subscribers in the U.S., with more countries coming soon. 8. Florida court awards ******** government massive civil judgment against former security chief Florida court awards ******** government massive civil judgment against former security chief MEXICO CITY (AP) — A Florida court awarded the ******** government a massive civil judgment Thursday against its former security chief who is now serving a lengthy prison sentence in the United States for taking bribes from drug traffickers. Judge Lisa Walsh ordered Genaro García Luna to pay more than $748 million and his wife Linda Cristina Pereyra to hand over more than $1.7 billion. García Luna was sentenced to more than 38 years in a U.S. prison last October for taking massive bribes to help drug traffickers. Mexico’s former secretary of public security was convicted by a New York jury in 2023 of accepting millions of dollars in bribes to protect the violent Sinaloa cartel that he was supposedly combating. He is the highest-level ******** government official to be convicted in the United States. He served as secretary of public security to then-President Felipe Calderón from 2006 to 2012. After leaving office García Luna moved to Florida. His lawyers said he was a legitimate businessman who did consulting in Florida before he was arrested in 2019. García Luna and associates set up companies that got 30 dubious government contracts while he was Mexico’s top security official in 2006-2012 and for six years afterward. The contracts were for things like surveillance, monitoring and communications equipment used in prisons and in intelligence work. The contracts were presumably inflated. In one case, the contract was simply falsified. García Luna allegedly channeled money from the prison security and government intelligence technology contracts to offshore accounts, many in Barbados, then sent it to Miami to buy fancy condos and vintage cars. García Luna and his associates bought several vintage Mustangs from the 1960s and ’70s. They also bought luxury sports cars like Lamborghinis and Ferraris. 9. Marvel Rivals ‘Immortal Avatar’ Adam Warlock Skin: Everything We Know Marvel Rivals ‘Immortal Avatar’ Adam Warlock Skin: Everything We Know NetEase Games has been creating a lot of hype for a brand new Adam Warlock skin that is all set to be added to Marvel Rivals today. The 22nd May patch mostly focuses on minor bug fixes and skins, but NetEase is also giving fans a highly requested feature: the ability to use more than one spray on a map during a match. Adam Warlock’s Immortal Avatar skin isn’t the only new skin, as Scarlet Witch is also getting a similarly themed Immortal Sovereign skin. The new skins are indeed exciting, but they won’t be enough to save Marvel Rivals from its slow demise. The game is constantly losing players, but NetEase only has new skins to offer instead of new gameplay features. Adam Warlock’s Immortal Avatar skin is coming to Marvel Rivals The official X account of Marvel Rivals dropped a new trailer showcasing a brand new skin for Adam Warlock called Immortal Avatar. The menacing skin and exciting gameplay have convinced many players that they need to get this bundle. Alongside this skin, NetEase Games will also add an Immortal Sovereign skin for Scarlet Witch. In addition to new skins, players will now be able to use five sprays simultaneously in a match. Players have been collecting all sorts of unique sprays, but showing them all at once was not possible. Recently, NetEase added a Galacta’s Gift event in Marvel Rivals to celebrate the first anniversary of the game’s Closed Alpha. As a part of this event, players can claim a new gift once per day after completing three matches. Hop right in because you can unlock various rewards such as Chrono Shield Cards, sprays, and even a Costume Coin. Will the season 2.5 update save Marvel Rivals? Ultron will join Marvel Rivals on May 30, 2025 (Image via NetEase Games) The release of the season 2 update added Emma Frost to the game, but the statistics revealed that it didn’t do much to increase the game’s average player count. There is a lot of pressure on the season 2.5 update as everyone is wondering if Ultron’s introduction would spike up the numbers. The game isn’t losing players at a crazy pace; in fact, it is still maintaining over 100,000 average players a month, but Steamcharts.com has revealed that there is a roughly 56% drop in the game’s average player count. At this rate, the game could lose a massive chunk of its fanbase by the end of this year. The new spray feature is great, but everyone is hoping to see a role ****** in the game. Without a role ******, Marvel Rivals ranked matches can be a frustrating experience because the team compositions are usually messed up, and players insta-lock characters, preventing others from trying it out. 10. Google IO 2025 summary: 5 big announcements you’ll want to know Google IO 2025 summary: 5 big announcements you’ll want to know Google IO 2025 delivered us a huge helping of AI during the almost two-hour opening keynote. Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, and colleagues got through an awful lot on stage, and while some of the talk was aimed primarily at developers, there were plenty of big announcements for us – the people on the street – to explore. 1. Google Beam: AI-enabled 3D video calls Google If you’re someone who finds themselves spending a lot of time on video calls for work, Google Beam will be of interest. Beam is an “AI-first video communications platform”, giving you glasses-free 3D visuals. With a Beam device, AI will take your video feed and convert you into a realistic 3D video model. The result is an effect that you’re are sitting across the table from the person on the other end of the call, with Google claiming “near perfect head tracking, down to the millimeter, and at 60 frames per second.” You’ll need dedicated hardware to take advantage of its ability to convert 2D video into 3D models (like the six camera equipped screen from HP in the image above), so Beam isn’t something you’ll be using at home – at least for now. All the demo videos we’ve seen only show 1:1 conversations, with no mention on whether it can handle multiple people round a desk. The first Google Beam devices will be available later this year, so prepare yourself for a 3D meeting makeover. Google’s also exploring real-time speech translation for Beam, allowing users to have a flowing, natural conversation even if they speak different languages. 2. Google AI Ultra: the VIP AI subscription Google has re-worked its AI subscription plans, with two paid tiers now available to consumers. Google AI Pro Google AI Pro is the new name for the AI Premium plan, and costs $19.99 per month. Google Search: an AI makeover and a fun shopping feature AI Mode in Google Search Google Search is getting a host of new AI features, with the overarching addition being ‘AI Mode’ allowing you to ask more complex queries as well as follow-up questions. Google claims AI Mode can handle any question, and it’s keen for you to search whatever’s on your mind. AI Mode goes much deeper than traditional Search when it looks for a response, and it apparently checks its responses too, so hopefully no more AI hallucinations. The idea is for Search to offer you a more complete experience, without the need to visit multiple websites. It wants to help you buy tickets for events and make restaurant reservations (via Project Mariner AI agent), help with school projects (with Project Astra integration), and even show you what you’d look like in that jacket you’ve been eyeing up. Yes, really. ‘Try On’ is a feature which will arrive in the coming months, allowing you to upload a full length picture of yourself when you tap the ‘Try On’ button which appears over images of clothing in Google Shopping results. See how the new AI ‘Try On’ feature works Complex analysis and data visualisation is coming to AI Mode later this summer for sports and finance questions, with the ability to display findings in AI-generated graphs, charts and more – not just text. Plus, Personal Context Mode will arrive in AI Mode this summer – where Search will also be able to scan your inbox to provide more personalized responses. 4. Google Flow: AI-powered filmmaking Google announced new versions of its AI image generator (Imagen) and AI video generator (Veo) during the IO 2025 keynote, and both of these systems are used in its new AI filmmaking tool, Google Flow. Imagen 4 improves on the company’s AI text-to-image generation, with enhanced picture quality and enhanced processing speeds. The big advancement here though is its ability to properly handle characters and text in images. Imagen can now properly format text, and place it in sensible places in your images. Veo 3 takes Google’s AI video generator out of the silent age and into the audio era. It’s now able to add background sound, sound effects and dialogue to the videos generated from your prompts. You can use these AI models standalone, but Google Flow brings these tools (along with Gemini) together into a complete package for filmmakers to create cinematic clips. You can even mix your own video clips and imagery with the AI generated content to fine tune your creation. There are tools to allow you to shorten sections of the video, extend other sections by adding additional prompts, and control the camera direction and angle for the best perspective in each scene. Google Flow is currently available to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra plan subscribers in the US. 5. Android XR: smart glasses are closer to reality Perhaps the most exciting part of the entire IO 2025 keynote was towards the end where Google focused in on its Android XR platform for VR headsets and AR glasses. We’ve already heard about its collaboration with Samsung on the Project Moohan VR handset, and Google confirmed on stage that its Apple Vision Pro competitor will be available to buy later this year. What was more impressive was the live demo of Google’s Gemini-powered AI smart glasses. We saw how Gemini was able to show messages, accurately identify the subject matter in a series of photographs on a wall, remember where the wearer bought their coffee that morning and provide walking directions back to the café, while creating a calendar entry and inviting a friend to meet there later in the day. A short video of a smart glasses demo Google announced Gentle Monster and Warby Parker will be the first partners to launch glasses with Android XR – with Samsung following on after. This was a convincing smart glasses display from Google, and it feels like the technology is now within touching distance. We hope Google will share more later this year, as we’re still waiting on a release date for the first set of specs. 12. How to keep your Apple devices safe from AirPlay attacks How to keep your Apple devices safe from AirPlay attacks Apple’s approach to building new features has always been rooted in safety and seamless convenience. Take, for example, AirPlay, a wireless standard created by the company that allows users to stream audio and video from one device to another. AirPlay works not just across Apple devices, but also on TVs and speakers cleared by the company to offer the wireless streaming facility. That also makes it a ripe target for attacks, and it seems there are, in fact, vulnerabilities in the wireless lanes that could allow bad actors to seed malware and infect more connected devices. Understanding the AirPlay risk Experts at the security research firm Oligo recently detailed Airborne, a set of flaws in Apple’s AirPlay Protocol and the AirPlay Software Development Kit (SDK) that can allow hackers to remotely execute code. These vulnerabilities can let bad actors take control of devices and use the infected machines to broaden the damage. “An attacker can take over certain AirPlay-enabled devices and do things like deploy malware that spreads to devices on any local network the infected device connects,” Oligo explained. The risk is huge because there are billions of Apple devices out there that support AirPlay, and millions that are sold by other brands. Simon Cohen / Digital Trends One of the vulnerabilities could allow hackers to compromise a device and then use it to gain access to a larger network, potentially targeting other devices, too. Depending on the target, the risks range from spying on conversations to tracking a car’s location, accessing sensitive information, ransomware attacks, and denial of service. Apple has patched the vulnerabilities via macOS Sequoia 15.4, tvOS 18.4, macOS Ventura 13.7.5, iPadOS 17.7.6, macOS Sonoma 14.7.5, iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4, visionOS 2.4 updates. However, there are potentially thousands of older devices that will never get patched and remain vulnerable. What steps do experts suggest? Of course, the first line of defense to protect yourself across all vulnerable devices is to download the fix released by Apple. But that isn’t the full picture. Trevor Horwitz, CISO and founder of TrustNet, says the patch will only work if people install it after the package downloads on their device. “The simplest and most effective thing you can do is keep your devices updated. That sounds basic, but it’s often overlooked,” he says. On an iPhone or iPad, follow this route to install the safety update: Settings > General > Software Update. For macOS, you must walk this path: Apple menu > System. Settings > General > Software Update. Nadeem Sarwar / Digital Trends Since attack vectors like Airborne rely on Wi-Fi networks to expand their damage, you must also pay attention to them. Oleh Kulchytskyi, Senior Malware Reverse Engineer at MacPaw’s Moonlock, told DigitalTrends that a Zero-Click Remote Code Execution (RCE) is the highest level of security breach. It should be immediately patched by the companies involved, but as a user, one must take further network-related precautions. “To stay safe at home, ensure that your router has a strong password and there are no suspicious connections to your network,” Kulchytsky adds. A safe way to AirPlay Matthias Frielingsdorf, a veteran iOS researcher and cofounder of iVerify, tells me that everyone should follow basic digital security protocols. Those include installing updates as soon as they are available, maintaining strong network passwords, and most importantly, reducing the surface area for such attacks. Since AirPlay is the threat vector, users should take proactive steps while using it. ”Disabling this on iOS / macOS / tvOS devices that don’t need to be an AirPlay receiver would limit some of the attacks. In public spaces, disabling WiFi on the Mac and iPhone would stop those attacks as well,” says Frielingsdorf. Nadeem Sarwar / Digital Trends AirPlay streaming is active by default, and as such, you need to disable it. To do so, follow this path on your iPhone or iPad: Settings > General > AirPlay & Continuity > Ask. You can also set it to Never, if you don’t actively utilize this feature. There’s also an option to set a password, which I recommend that you enable, while at it. What about AirPlay itself? Can it be disabled? Yes, it can be turned off entirely. On your iPhone and iPad, go to the AirPlay & Continuity page and turn off the AirPlay Receiver toggle. Alternatively, you can choose to allow AirPlay only for the Current User, instead of keeping it open to everyone in the range. For Mac users, this is the path you need to follow: Apple Menu > System Settings > General > AirDrop & Handoff > AirPlay Receiver. You can’t always patch older or discontinued devices, so it’s best to ensure that the machines that are currently in your hands have enabled the right protocols to minimize the risks. The bottom line On multiple occasions in the past, security experts have highlighted flaws in wireless transmission systems, such as Bluetooth. But a vulnerability that allows zero-click remote code execution in AirPlay is a cautionary tale. The message is clear. Apple’s security guardrails are solid, but not impenetrable. “What makes this serious is the integration. AirPlay isn’t just a standalone app. It’s a system-level service built into iOS, macOS, and tvOS. So the moment that layer is compromised, the attacker could potentially affect multiple devices at once,” TrustNet’s Horwitz told Digital Trends. Nadeem Sarwar / Digital Trends So, where does that leave an average user who is not savvy about security measures? Well, it’s time to set aside notions and market perceptions. Chris Hill, Chief Security Strategist at BeyondTrust, says users must understand the threat landscape instead of living with the idea that a certain ecosystem is safer than the rest. “Threat actors are opportunistic, looking for the easiest path of least resistance, they will find it, and they did in this case with AirPlay and AirBorne,” he warns. The bottom line is that keep your devices updated, disable features you don’t use, and be vigilant with network-related settings. 13. Real Reason Overwatch 2 Fans Are Accusing the Game of Gaslighting Real Reason Overwatch 2 Fans Are Accusing the Game of Gaslighting The last couple of months have been quite interesting for Overwatch 2. Blizzard has been trying its best to strike back against Marvel Rivals and has brought tons of new additions, weapons, and collaborations in its hero-shooter. Thanks to all these updates, the Overwatch 2 player base is finally growing again, and Blizzard has plans to continue this momentum. Unfortunately, another controversy has emerged in the community as players are now accusing Blizzard of outright gaslighting them. Overwatch 2 fans call out Blizzard for gaslighting tactics If you head over to Overwatch‘s unofficial wiki page for Moida and navigate to the section mentioning her ultimate, Coalescene, you’ll notice something. There’s a “miss forgiveness” mechanic to the ultimate. What this means is that if the healing beam doesn’t reach any targets for a short time, its healing output increases by 50%. This only applies to healing and not the damage dealt by Coalescene. It’s a cool mechanic, but there’s one issue: no one knows about its existence. User KaraTheAndroidd has taken to r/Overwatch and stated that even though they’ve consistently followed all patch notes and developer updates, they still didn’t know about this quirk of Moira’s ultimate. Even user princesspoopy, who’s gone through “every patch notes,” has never seen anything about Moira’s healing output increase if the ultimate doesn’t reach any targets. According to them, even creators such as Arx_UK, who are professional Moira mains, have never mentioned such a mechanic. Overwatch 2 desperately needs official hero stats shown in-game. (Image via Blizzard) However, user Reasonable_Goose_892 didn’t have any of these shenanigans and decided to test the mechanic out in the workshop. They found that the information was actually “true,” and Moira’s healing jumps when she misses any ally. It’s mind-boggling to think that even though the hero-shooter has been around for years, people still don’t know about such subtle mechanics. As user Circo_Inhumanitas says, this is why Overwatch 2 needs to have “proper hero information in game.” Let’s hope Blizzard can stop keeping players in the dark about their favorite heroes. It’s time to give us official stats for all heroes; there’s no reason to be allergic to showing numbers. Overwatch 2 director responds to Stadium mode issues High leaver rate is normal for a lengthy mode like Stadium. (Image via Blizzard) While it’s unknown if Blizzard will ever give us official in-game numbers for Overwatch 2 heroes, the developer is at least ready to handle all the issues within the Stadium mode. One of the biggest additions in Overwatch 2‘s Season 16 was the Stadium mode. It’s a permanent new mode that puts two 5-player teams against each other in a round-based format. Each match brings a number of familiar game modes, such as Push, Control, and Clash. Every round in the Stadium mode doesn’t last that long, but a full seven-round game can go for a longer duration compared to a typical match in Overwatch 2. Due to this, we’re seeing a massive leaver issue. There’s a high leaver rate among players. Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller is aware of this issue. According to him, the majority of the players leaving the match are particularly new to the hero-shooter. Such lengthy games might be too much for beginners. As Stadium is still new in Overwatch 2, Blizzard expects the leaver rate to drop and settle down eventually. If that’s not the case, we’re likely to see the developer implement some changes. With that said, did you know about Moira’s Coalescene quirk? Let us know in the comments below. 14. Europa League: Tottenham Hotspur’s to-do list including Ange Postecoglou future Europa League: Tottenham Hotspur’s to-do list including Ange Postecoglou future Of course, the biggest development this summer will inevitably be the identity of their head coach. Ange Postecoglou etched his name into Tottenham folklore on Wednesday night, yet his position heading into next season remains uncertain. Whether the euphoria of what unfolded in Spain changes the direction of travel regarding Postecoglou’s future should become clear in the immediate future. Prior to this week’s success, the expectancy was that Postecoglou would leave ahead of next season; the *********** ultimately paying the price for a dreadful domestic season. BBC Sport understands the club are some way down the line in the process of identifying potential replacements for Postecoglou. So with that in mind, if Spurs have the strength in their initial convictions then Postecoglou may still be on borrowed time. That said, how do you dismiss a manager who has just led you to such glory? However the next few days unfold, what is clear for Tottenham is that they must execute the change in leadership, if there is to be one, smoothly – certainly more professionally than their previous managerial search that saw them lurch from candidate to candidate before finally resting on Postecoglou. Among the contenders are believed to be Thomas Frank – who has a relationship with technical director Johan Lange – Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Oliver Glasner. All may have had reservations about joining Tottenham prior to Wednesday night. But with Champions League football to look forward to, Spurs have become a significantly more attractive option. 17. Erin Patterson trial: Phone linked to alleged poisoner ‘reset’ four times Erin Patterson trial: Phone linked to alleged poisoner ‘reset’ four times A Samsung phone allegedly handed over by Erin Patterson was found to contain “no usable data” after it was factory reset, a forensics officer told her trial. Giving evidence at the triple-******* trial on Thursday, Victoria Police senior digital forensics officer Shamen Fox-Henry was quizzed by prosecutors on a Cellebrite report prepared for the phone. He told the court Cellebrite was a digital forensic software and extraction tool used by the Victoria Police to analyse and examine digital devices. Camera IconForensic computer expert Shamen Fox-Henry told the court the phone was reset. NewsWire / Diego Fedele Credit: News Corp Australia Prosecutor Jane Warren suggested the jury would hear evidence later in the trial that the Samsung device was handed to investigators by Ms Patterson on August 5, 2023. Her husband Simon Patterson’s parents, Don and Gail Patterson, and aunt, Heather Wilkinson, fell ill and died from death cap mushroom poisoning after a lunch Ms Patterson hosted on July 29. Heather’s husband, Ian Wilkinson, also attended the meal at Ms Patterson’s home but recovered after spending about a month and a half in hospital. Ms Patterson is facing trial after pleading not guilty to three counts of ******* and one count of attempted ******* – prosecutors allege the meal was deliberately poisoned while her defence argue it was a tragic accident. Camera IconMs Patterson has pleaded not guilty. NewsWire/ David Crosling Credit: News Corp Australia Mr Fox-Henry confirmed the report stated the phone was examined by a cyber crime squad officer two days later on August 7. He told the court the report indicated “no usable data was extracted” from the phone. Questioned by Ms Warren on why there was no data, he tells the jury “based on this report, the device was factory reset”. The jury was then shown the report which contained a table stating the phone was “wiped locally by user” three times on March 12 at 4.53pm, August 1 at 11.09am and August 5 at 12.20pm. A fourth entry stated the phone was “wiped remotely by user” on August 6 at 5.16pm – when the device was in police custody. Mr Fox-Henry is expected to continue giving evidence when the trial resumes on Friday. At the start of the trial, Crown prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC said it was alleged the Samsung phone handed to police was not her primary phone. “Unbeknownst to police, the mobile phone which the accused eventually provided to police during the execution of the search warrant was Phone B,” she told the jury. “Connected to the SIM for number ending 835, which the accused had set up on 3 August 2023, four or five days after the lunch.” Camera IconNanette Rogers SC is leading the Crown’s case against Ms Patterson. NewsWire / David Geraghty Credit: News Corp Australia Ms Rogers told the court it was alleged Ms Patterson’s phone records indicate she was still using her “SIM for number ending 783 in Phone A” at the time of the police search warrant on August 5. “This is the phone and phone number that the accused had been using since 12 February and throughout the ******* immediately preceding and during the lunch,” she said, “This phone and SIM card have never been recovered by the police.” The trial continues. 18. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown review: a new kind of superpower Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown review: a new kind of superpower Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown makes turn-based tactics feel as fast-paced as a John Wick brawl.” Pros Very original approach to TMNT Thoughtful characterization Fast-paced tactics Compact size is a plus Cons Repetitive missions A bit anticlimactic Buggy at launch “Why you can trust Digital Trends – We have a 20-year history of testing, reviewing, and rating products, services and apps to help you make a sound buying decision. Find out more about how we test and score products.“ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown is a shining example of how the way a game plays can completely change what it says about its characters. Growing up, my perception of New York’s finest reptiles was shaped by beat-em-ups. GameCube drawlers like Battle Nexus taught me that the boys were a bunch of rowdy goofballs. They were deadly, but sloppy. They aren’t the same turtles I find in the turn-based action of Tactical Takedown. There, I meet hyper efficient assassins who don’t waste a single movement. They aren’t just members of a squad who need one another to take out waves of enemies; each is a one turtle wrecking machine. I’m left to wonder just how devastating they must be as one unified band of brothers. Fast-paced strategy makes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown’s turn-based action feel as active as an arcade brawler. Each level offers a jolt of arcade excitement that gives each turtle their chance to shine rather than treating them as interchangeable heroes. Its small scope leaves it vulnerable to bugs and repetition, but Tactical Takedown’s best quality is how much it’s willing to break the mold and offer a new spin on a familiar TMNT power fantasy. Together alone Rather than revisiting a scenario that’s been done to death, Tactical Takedown tries its best to steer away from TMNT clichés. It pits the boys against a new Foot Clan leader who is filling a void left behind by Shredder. Rather than tackling that threat together with a carefree attitude, we’re left with four brothers who have grown distant as each comes to terms with impending adulthood. The big shock is that the four of them never appear together during their mission, as an attack on the Turtle Lair takes out their communication system. Each one sets off on their own solo objective, only interacting with their bros through interstitial dialogue between missions. A broken Turtlecom turns out to be a perfect metaphor for a more human kind of distance. That may sound a little sacrilegious at first, but it’s a purposeful swing. The physical separation drives home how much the team is growing apart through the story. It’s a little sad, like waking up one morning and realizing that you haven’t seen the cousins you used to play all night with on Christmas Eve in years. We’ve so rarely, if ever, gotten to see a version of the Turtles that feels this lonely and introspective. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and I walked away from Tactical Takedown with a new appreciation of their dynamic. Tactical Takedown isn’t a big licensed project and shouldn’t be approached as such. That separation isn’t played as a bummer, though. Instead, developer Strange Scaffold uses it to shine a spotlight on each hero. Every level has me playing as a specific Turtle, as they all work towards the same goal using their own skills and expertise. Michelangelo attacks the problem at a street level, taking out goons with his nunchaku. Donatello sticks to the sewers, Raphael dashes over rooftops, and Leonardo sticks to the subway like a real New Yorker. In any other Turtles game, these would be locations that every turtle would explore by the end of the story. Here, each feels like one of the hero’s turf, giving them a specific home field advantage that their other brothers don’t have. That builds to a climax you can probably see coming, but not in the way you’re expecting. We’re never quite given a moment where all four heroes are playable together, sharing a pool of actions and synergizing their skills with one another. There’s a much different interpretation of their union here that undercuts their individuality. It’s functional enough, but the finale feels less like a natural conclusion and more like a concession to not mess around with the core tactics formula too much. That philosophy makes for some repetition as each of its 20 levels plays out the same with little variation aside from swapping the hero. Strange Scaffold Tactical Takedown isn’t a big licensed project and shouldn’t be approached as such. It’s a micro indie from a studio known for playing things fast and loose. Like every Strange Scaffold game I’ve ever played before launch, I encountered some form of game breaking bug that will no doubt be fixed by the time you actually play it. A broken special attack that I could spam multiple times by hammering a button, reset levels due to a glitched “end turn” button, and a loadout menu that I could not for the life of me figure out how to edit. It’s not that I hold those issues against it much, just as I didn’t mind I Am Your Beast’s few game-breaking issues that halted my progress for a few days. They’ll get fixed promptly by a nimble team, but sometimes I wonder what just a little more time in the oven could do for some of the studio’s best ideas, whether it’s polishing them to perfection or having time to build in one more creative twist that snaps everything into place. All action Though there are limits to its compact nature, Tactical Takedown’s focused scope is its greatest asset too. Each bite-sized level drops a turtle onto a small grid-based map. Every few turns, a new piece of the map forms while another goes away. It’s built to feel exactly like an old beat-em-up in that way, with the screen scroll of an arcade game stopping to frame a brawl before prompting players to move on. It’s an ingenious way to bring the feel of those games to an entirely different genre. That same philosophy extends to its brilliant spin on turn-based combat, which takes a genre known for careful decision making and makes it feel like John Wick. Each Turtle has five moves that they can use on each turn and a whopping six action points that can be spent in any way. When playing as Michaelangelo, my initial skill set is largely about leaping around enemies. I can skateboard over a foe and hit them on the way over or dash past a few enemies with my whirling nunchucks. Even my most basic attack, a simple bonk, moves me to the enemy’s square once defeated. With six whole points to spend per turn, and more if I equip moves that replenish AP, I’m able to do a whole lot of damage in one go. There’s a maturity to the boys here reflected in precise strategy rather than drunken brawling. There’s a strategy to each turtle and the brisk four hour runtime gives me just enough time to perfect each over time. With Michaelangelo, I learn to chain my way through enemies by knocking my way through one so that I can directly move to another without spending a movement point. Donatello is more about shocking enemies to keep them in place and create distance between them, allowing him to pick them off from afar or trap them in poison sewer pits. Leonardo is more about standing his ground, creating stacks of evasion that allow him to survive in tight subway car melees. And Raphael is all about yanking faraway enemies to reposition them and boot them away. Each strategy is distinct and rewards mastery. Once I got the hang of each, I couldn’t believe just how much I could do in a turn. Sometimes I’d be greeted with a screen full of ninjas and assume that I couldn’t possibly take them all out. With careful enough positioning, I’d realize that I could punt a foe off an edge here to instantly kill it, slash another weak one to finish it off and get its AP, jump over to a pizza box to heal, and still have enough actions left to take out a few more enemies. All of this happens quickly in my brain. I don’t need to think about what to do next; I reflexively fire off actions one after another, often taking out a whole screen full of enemies in seconds flat. It’s like playing a beat-em-up, but somehow faster and more precise. It’s through that ironclad combat hook that my perception of the Turtles changes. While most TMNT games hone in on the teenage part, Tactical Takedown is concerned with the anagram’s N. Each one truly feels like a ninja here, dispatching enemies in the blink of an eye. If you cut out the bits of decision making between move selection, you’d be treated to a thrilling little sequence on every single turn that plays out like Oldboy’s hallway sequence. Strange Scaffold I do wish that there were a few more ways to really drive that point home outside from the fairly static gauntlet of fights that never really changes. Some levels can feel long, throwing out waves of enemies with little pace until they just suddenly end. Perhaps some bosses or stage hazards could have given me a few more ways to think about the most efficient ways to use my moves, especially since the difficulty winds up feeling flat even in its enemy-filled finale. There’s more room to grow the great seed Strange Scaffold has planted here if the studio decides to take the team for another spin one day. Even if it’s destined to be a one-shot, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown is a welcome little addition to TMNT’s storied video game canon. In just a few short hours, it gave me a new appreciation of each individual bro by deconstructing the team dynamic and showing how each part of the unit functions on its own. There’s a maturity to the boys here reflected in precise strategy rather than drunken brawling. You can break up a team, but the mark of a strong family is its ability to fight through hell and back to come together again. 20. Lian Li flexes new PSU with rotatable power outlet at Computex 2025 Lian Li flexes new PSU with rotatable power outlet at Computex 2025 Lian Li unveiled a novel new power supply series at Computex 2025, featuring a power outlet on a swivel, duplicate connectors on different sides of the unit, and a built-in USB hub on the back panel that can be swapped out for a fan controller. These new power supplies, known as the RS series, will be available starting in Q3 2025. Pricing starts at $154.99 for the 1000W version, $159.99 for the same unit paired with a USB 2.0 hub, and $179.99 for the 1200W version that also comes with a USB 2.0 hub. Image 1 of 7 (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) (Image credit: Tom’s Hardware) The RS series’ design is all about improving the flexibility of traditional ATX power supplies. The lineup’s most definitive feature is its swiveling three-prong power outlet on the back. This outlet can be moved from the front side of the unit to the right, to improve compatibility with non-conventional installations. In addition to this swiveling outlet, Lian Li has also mounted duplicate 24-pin ATX power connectors and primary 8-pin EPS power connectors on the front and left of the unit. Having the power connectors on the left side specifically can be beneficial in a traditional ATX case, where the power supply is mounted on the bottom with the fan facing downwards. Installing the 24-pin and EPS cables on the left side will provide better cable management, less cable clutter in the bottom PSU chamber, and better reach to the motherboard if cable length is a problem. The front-mounted connectors are presumably designed for ITX enclosures, which can often have the PSU mounted in unorthodox areas — such as the front of the case, where a cable adapter is required to wire the PSU’s three-prong power outlet to the rear of the chassis. In these cases, again, having the 24-pin and 8-pin EPS in the front of the unit alongside the three-prong outlet can improve cable management and declutter the back portion of the unit where most of the cables will inevitably be installed. These changes also make room for the RS series USB hub/fan controller hub mounting point on the back. Lian Li installed a mount below the rear CPU, PCIe, and SATA power connectors that can house either of the aforementioned hubs. The fan controller hub is a combo USB/fan controller hub that houses four additional USB 2.0 headers (for internal use), and six 4-pin fan connectors powered by an 8-pin connector (either SATA or PCIe). Lian Li also has a dedicated USB 2.0 hub with five USB headers for those who don’t need an extra fan controller. (This is the same hub that is combined with the more expensive 1000W unit and 1200W unit, mentioned previously.) 21. Federal judge stops Trump administration from terminating certain international students’ legal status Federal judge stops Trump administration from terminating certain international students’ legal status Washington — A federal judge on Thursday blocked federal immigration officials with the Trump administration from terminating the legal status of thousands of international students while a legal battle moves forward. U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White, who sits on the U.S. district court in Oakland, California, found that a group of foreign nationals who are in the country on F-1 student visas but had their legal status terminated were likely to succeed in a challenge to the Trump administration’s actions. White said in a 21-page decision that federal immigration officials don’t suggest that the plaintiffs pose an immediate threat to safety or national security. But the students, he wrote, will “continue to suffer significant hardship” because of the administration’s actions, absent judicial relief. White, nominated by President George W. Bush, wrote that the relief provided to the plaintiffs gives them a “measure of stability and certainty that they will be able to continue their studies or their employment without the threat of re-termination hanging over their heads.” His nationwide injunction blocks immigration authorities from arresting or jailing the plaintiffs in the case or those who are similarly situated until the dispute is resolved, and from transferring them outside of the jurisdiction where they live. White’s order also bars the Trump administration from reversing its reinstatement of certain international students’ legal status. The cases were brought by foreign nationals who were admitted to the U.S. through the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, which Immigrations and Customs Enforcement oversees. The plaintiffs were in the country on F-1 visas, and records relating to their immigration status are housed in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System, or SEVIS, a database that tracks international students’ compliance with their visa status. But in early April, the plaintiffs and thousands of other international students in the U.S. on F-1 visas learned that their SEVIS records had been terminated as part of the Trump administration’s “Student Criminal Alien Initiative” for “otherwise failing to maintain status.” They said that terminating their SEVIS record effectively terminates their F-1 status, which governs whether they’re in the U.S. lawfully. The plaintiffs said they were told their legal status had been terminated because they were “identified in a criminal records check and/or has had their visa revoked.” Lawyers for the plaintiffs, who filed their lawsuit against the Trump administration last month, argued that while they each have had some contact with law enforcement, none has a criminal history that would pose a threat to their legal status in the U.S. or render them deportable. After the international students filed their lawsuit against federal immigration authorities, a federal judge granted temporary restraining orders, which White later extended. Then, a Justice Department lawyer said that ICE had started reinstating SEVIS records for more than 4,700 students who had their student visa records terminated. But White said those changes weren’t enough, and warned that the Trump administration’s actions since the cases were filed “raise the concern that they may be trying to place any future SEVIS terminations beyond judicial review.” “At each turn in this and similar litigation across the nation, defendants have abruptly changed course to satisfy courts’ expressed concerns. It is unclear how this game of whack-a-mole will end unless defendants are enjoined from skirting their own mandatory regulations,” he wrote. White’s order came after he held a hearing on motions for preliminary injunctions last week and learned during the proceedings that ICE had been restoring SEVIS records retroactively and that the administration planned to send letters to all student visa-holders impacted by the mass cancellations. Still, he granted their requests for the injunction and rejected the Trump administration’s argument that a SEVIS record is not tied to immigration status, calling it “unpersuasive and unsupported.” “By terminating plaintiffs’ SEVIS records, defendants altered plaintiffs’ legal status within the United States,” White wrote. He also chided the Trump administration’s so-called “Student Criminal Alien Initiative,” and said that it underscored the need for nationwide relief. “That initiative is a uniform policy that uniformly wreaked havoc not only on the lives of plaintiffs here but on similarly situated F-1 nonimmigrants across the United States and continues do so,” White wrote. 23. 3 Gaming Laptops You Should Buy Instead of the Lenovo Legion Go S 3 Gaming Laptops You Should Buy Instead of the Lenovo Legion Go S Over the past few years, gaming handhelds have exploded in popularity. And with each new iteration, we are seeing performance and ergonomic improvements that have pushed them as a serious alternative for gaming on the go. After all, if you can carry a portable device like the Lenovo Legion Go S for casual gaming indulgence, why bother lugging around a bulky laptop? A few of my friends have even tried the idea of using these Windows-powered handhelds as a stop-gap PC for getting work done. But let’s be real. As convenient as they are, handhelds won’t be able to match what a gaming laptop can deliver in terms of raw performance, immersiveness, and, of course, overall value for your money. What to keep in mind? If you’ve been eying the Legion Go S, for instance, there are a few things worth keeping in mind. As Digital Trends highlights, paying $760 for a quad-core silicon intended for playing PC games is a bottleneck in itself. Then there are Windows optimization challenges for handhelds, and the battery life caveat. Jacob ****** / Digital Trends Now, if you’re planning to look at laptop alternatives, there are a few aspects you should keep in mind for the best experience. First, try to pick an option that offers a faster display. Even a 120Hz or 144Hz panel will lift your gaming experience discernibly. Game files take up quite a lot of space. So, if you’re picking up a machine, make sure it offers at least 1TB of SSD storage. I know, configurations often come with an upsell, but you should aim higher, regardless. And most importantly, don’t splurge on a flashy new graphics card just because it’s new. You can save a lot of money by going with an older-generation silicon, but still fairly capable GPU, instead of splurging on the latest that Nvidia has to offer. Of course, where possible, explore the options between Intel and AMD, as well. That’s a lot of technical considerations to remember. To ease things up for you, consider these three gaming laptops that don’t fall too from the Legion Go S budget: Acer Nitro V15 Acer Playing closest to the price of Legion Go S is the Acer Nitro V15, an AMD-powered budget laptop that is quite well-received, as well. If your budget can’t go beyond the handheld’s range, but you’d still like a fairly competent package, this Acer laptop is a compelling choice. The base configuration at $749, which is lower than the Lenovo handheld itself, offers the hexa-core AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS processor clubbed with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4050 mobile graphics. That combination is decent for 1080p gaming, and at medium to high settings, you can play AAA titles such as Far Cry 6, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Borderlands 3 in the 45-60 fps range comfortably. You also get a 15.6-inch full-HD display with a 144Hz refresh rate, which is a pleasant surprise in this price bracket. As far as the memory configuration go, you get 16GB of DDR5 RAM and 512GB of onboard SSD storage. Unlike the older iterations, the keyboard is backlit on this one. The port situation is not too bad either, as you get plenty of them, including a Thunderbolt port. View on Amazon Dell G15 (5530) Dell Consistently ranked among the best laptops you can buy on a gaming budget, the Dell G15 sets the starting price at a thousand dollars, but delivers a fantastic package. It’s one of the best-looking gaming laptops in its segment, especially from a thermal design perspective. This one offers a 15.6-inch full-HD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Powering the machine is the 14-core Intel Core i7-13650HX processor, paired with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD. It is one of the only few laptops in the price bracket that offer a higher-end 13th Gen Intel processor, and that reflects in the performance, as well. On the graphics side, you get Nvidia’s RTX 4060 mobile GPU that can tap into 140 watts of peak output. At benchmarks, it performs in the same league as laptops with a capped GeForce RTX 4070 mobile graphics. In titles such as Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 1080p and the highest graphics preset, the output is comfortably above the 100fps range. Cyberpunk 2077 easily manages over 60fps at the same resolution, which is quite impressive. Port selection is also fairly diverse and spaced across all sides, but the only miss is just one USB-C port on the laptop. Irrespective of the configuration you pick, you get two fans, four heat pipes, and plenty of external vents for heat management. Overall, this is a solid pick, if getting the best gaming performance for the price is your top priority. View at Best Buy Gigabyte G6X KG Gigabyte If the Dell machine caught your fancy, and you were wondering if it could somehow offer a little extra oomph for future-proofing, the Gigabyte G6X offers just that. This one doubles the amount of RAM to 32GB, the storage is boosted to 1TB, and you get an extra USB-C port, as well. It offers a large 16-inch full-HD display with a 165Hz refresh rate. Running the performance show is a 14-core Intel Core i7-13650HX processor that offers a peak frequency of 4.9 GHz and boost mode output worth 157W. On the graphics front, the Gigabyte G6 KF offers Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4060 GPU with 8GB of graphics memory. With ray-tracing enabled, it can handle Cyberpunk 2077 at high graphics settings and resolutions up to 1200p with a respectable output close to 30fps. In titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and Metro Exodus Enhanced, it can manage over 60fps with ease. Playing games at moderate to high FPS presets can take you above 100fps on this one. The only downside of this laptop is a slightly dull screen compared to the rivals, and the overall build doesn’t feel nearly as premium as the competition. However, if those are aspects you can live with, the Gigabyte G6X 9KG will serve you just fine.
