4 things we expect to see at WWDC 2025, and 2 we don’t
4 things we expect to see at WWDC 2025, and 2 we don’t
Apple’s next developers conference will kick off on June 9th, and as expected, some notable software announcements are on the horizon. The big reveals will be iOS 19, macOS 16, iPadOS 19, watchOS 12, visionOS 3, and tvOS 19, continuing the company’s tradition of announcing major software upgrades midway through the year.
The stakes this year, however, are higher than expected. All eyes will be on Apple and what it has to say about its AI approach, after having missed the early momentum against Google’s Android and some well-documented missteps with Apple Intelligence.
According to Bloomberg, the company will also be more cautious with feature announcements this time around, focusing more on experiences that can be shipped on time instead of the ambitious goalposts that it set with iOS 18 and failed to deliver. Based on what credible reports have put out so far, here is what we expect to see at WWDC 2025:
A fresh design language
Joe Maring / Digital Trends
It seems aesthetic overhauls are the big focus across both sides of the ecosystem. Google introduced Material 3 Expressive at I/O 2025 a barely over a week ago, pairing bold color effects with deeper UX customization. Apple is expected to pull off something similar this year at WWDC for its OS portfolio.
“The revamp — due later this year — will fundamentally change the look of the operating systems and make Apple’s various software platforms more consistent,” says a Bloomberg report. Apple is reportedly eyeing a system-wide makeover that includes changing the look of apps, icons, and windows, among other elements.
The overarching inspiration is VisionOS, the software experience Apple developed for its Vision Pro XR headset. The focus will reportedly be on simplifying the navigation experience and making it easier for users to access crucial controls.
The report adds that users are in for the biggest redesign ever since iOS 17 landed in 2013. We are expecting to see more rounded icons, transparent design elements, smoother animations, and more such tweaks. Whether a functional overhaul is also in the pipeline remains to be seen.
iPadOS borrows Mac magic?
Nadeem Sarwar / Digital Trends
iPadOS has long remained somewhat of a limiting factor for Apple’s powerful tablets, especially those powered by the same M-series silicon as the Mac hardware. In its current avatar, it’s more like a stretched version of iOS, with a few productivity apps thrown into the mix for power users.
Many have been clamoring for some kind of dual-boot experience with macOS, but that likely will never happen. It seems, however, that Apple has been listening to all that feedback and will address a few of them with iPadOS 19.
According to Bloomberg, the next iteration of iPadOS will make a handful of changes to the multitasking and windowing experience focused on enhancing productivity. Leaker Majin Bu further added that a macOS-like menu bar is coming to iPadOS.
Mark Coppock / Digital Trends
It will tie in with the next-gen Stage Manager experience, which jumps into action when the tablet is connected to the Magic Keyboard. The idea is to offer a more Mac-inspired computing experience, though it’s unclear whether Apple will keep the experience locked to its own or MFi-certified keyboard accessories.
Next-gen health perks
Apple has been at the vanguard of wellness tech for a while now, but in the past few years, competition has grown hotter, and rivals like Huawei have leapfrogged Apple at health tech innovation. This year, it seems Apple is hoping to get back in the spotlight.
Under the codename “Project Mulberry,” Apple is reportedly planning a major overhaul of the Health app that will also introduce an AI health coach. “The service would be powered by a new AI agent that would replicate — at least to some extent — a real doctor,” says a Bloomberg report.
Joe Maring / Digital Trends
Now, AI-driven personalized health suggestions are not exactly a new trend. The companion apps powering smartwatches and smart rings from different brands already offer tailored suggestions based on health data and users’ physical status.
What Apple is doing differently is that the company is deploying its in-house team of physicians to train the AI coach. Additionally, the company is roping in doctors from different areas of expertise to create videos aimed at guiding users on health conditions and making the necessary lifestyle improvements.
AI, in a more practical shape
Nadeem Sarwar / Digital Trends
Apple’s current AI stack — shipped as part of the Apple Intelligence bundle — has been on the lagging end of the competition. Moroever, pushing well-publicized missteps with AI summarization and dependence on ChatGPT to fill Siri’s intelligence gaps haven’t helped the cause either. Then we have a few unfulfilled ambitious promises, which even forced Apple to pull ads from the internet.
AT WWDC 2025, Apple is expected to show off a few AI features that are steeped in practicality. Among them is an AI-driven health management feature that will help users prolong the battery mileage of their iPhones.
“The enhancement will analyze how a person uses their device and make adjustments to conserve energy,” reports Bloomberg. The system will intelligently reduce the power uptake by applications to maximize the battery life.
Nadeem Sarwar / Digital Trends
In addition to a digital coach, Apple’s AI will also help users with nutrition planning, as well. Aside from an AI doctor, Apple will also use the camera feed so that the onboard AI can assist users with exercise and suggest improvements in real-time.
There are plenty of AI apps out there that can gauge the nutritional value of food by just looking at it through the camera, and a few that can do the same while working out. Apple’s adoption isn’t groundbreaking, but a unified integration within the Health app will certainly be more convenient (and safer, from a data privacy perspective) for users.
All of it sounds pretty exciting and something that users can extract meaningful utility from. However, don’t expect Apple to take the stage at WWDC 2025 and reveal…
The true evolution of Siri
Apple is reportedly running into some critical delays with overhauling the Siri experience. Apple failed to give Siri the same kind of evolutionary treatment as its Android rival achieved by replacing Google Assistant with Gemini.
Nadeem Sarwar / Digital Trends
Apple’s own attempt to give a generative AI and chatbot-like makeover, currently in development under the codename LLM Siri, is running into delays. Apple is working to somehow get past the limitations of a hybrid architecture where the legacy codebase of Siri co-exists with the LLM-driven stack.
According to reports, the true generative AI makeover of Siri is still a year, or two, away. To make up for it, Apple is reportedly planning to partner with Google and somehow integrate Gemini within the iOS experience, somewhat like its Siri-ChatGPT bonhomie.
More importantly, the company is planning to let third-party app developers tap into its in-house AI models so that the onboard virtual assistants can get work done across different apps. Google has already laid the foundation of such Gemini interplay with a system called “apps,” formerly known as “extensions.”
Fancy new hardware
Digital Trends
Don’t hold your breath for Apple to drop any hardware bombshell. This year, the theme of the developers conference will be more about damage control and fixing gaps, instead of dropping any machines, though we might get a tease of what comes next.
Apple’s next-gen M5 silicon is expected to land this year, powering a fresh slate of tablets and Mac hardware. However, reports suggest that they will land in the second half of the year, instead of making an appearance at WWDC 2025.
In addition to the silicon leap, the big focus will be on the iPhone 17 series in the fall season. Apple will introduce its highly anticipated ultra-slim iPhone “Air” model later this year. Chatter about smart glasses has also grown, but we don’t expect Apple to talk about them at its event next month.

Flood-hit Australians overjoyed as calf returns mid-interview
Flood-hit Australians overjoyed as calf returns mid-interview
STORY: ::An *********** couple is overjoyed to be reunited with their calves after severe floods hit their town
::Dan Patch, Ghinni Ghinni resident
“We put them under the bridge to keep them in the high point, they were in about that much water, standing in water and it was still rising… Ok, we found the little boy calf. We thought we’d lost one in the water. We thought he might have drowned, but apparently, he’s there. She had twins in the water, in the mud.”
::May 25, 2025
::Ghinni Ghinni, Australia
“These little calves here, they got out onto the highway… after the floodwater receded, we went up and we brought them back and gave them a feed. They’ve been without a feed for two days. So they’re very happy.”
“It’s the worst we’ve ever seen. It’s worst everybody’s seen around this area this area.”
::Heather Middleton, Ghinni Ghinni resident
“It is exhausting. But – I’ve also got chronic fatigue, and this is after COVID… if we keep thinking about all the bad things that are happening, we don’t see the good things. I’m just so glad we found the little boy today. That is awesome, and it just gives that little spark of extra energy to keep going.”
The couple was forced to leave their cow and three calves behind during an emergency evacuation during last week’s floods in the southeastern New South Wales state that cut off towns, swept away livestock and destroyed homes.
“We put them under the bridge to keep them in the high point. They were… standing in water and it was still rising,” Patch told Reuters, who was interrupted mid-sentence by Middleton shouting behind that she had found one of the calves.
“Ok, we found the little boy calf”, said Patch nonchalantly before continuing the interview.
Their other two hand-reared calves were discovered on the highway by the State Emergency Services. Patch said they came back after the floodwater receded two days later to feed them.
He also said the flooding was the worst they had ever seen in the area. At least 10,000 properties may have been damaged in the floods, which were sparked by days of incessant rain, authorities estimate.

Steam has a hit new life sim and it will brighten your day
Steam has a hit new life sim and it will brighten your day
As part of this job, I watch a whole lot of Nintendo Directs. Hundreds of games are beamed into my eyes every year and I try my best to retain as many of them as possible. As you can imagine, some fall through the cracks. That was the case with Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, which was first revealed on a Nintendo stream in 2023. Even after making an appearance in February’s Nintendo Partner Direct, it still didn’t stick in my mind. I’m not sure why. Maybe it got lost in a sea of recently announced life sims, like Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and Tamagotchi Plaza. For whatever reason, I didn’t expect it to make much of a splash.
As it turned out, I underestimated the power of Nintendo 3DS nostalgia. Fantasy Life i is out now and it’s doing exceptionally well on Steam for a niche game. At the time of writing, it has reached a peak of over 47,000 concurrent players and 92% of its user reviews are positive. That only accounts for PC players too, not those jumping in on Nintendo Switch. The success got me curious enough to hop in and start my own life. I’m glad I did, because Fantasy Life i is a plesant little vacation that has made my days just a little brighter.
Developed by Level-5, Fantasy Life i is a brand new entry in a cult hit life sim series that started on the Nintendo 3DS in 2012. Since then, its only other installment was a mobile game that was discontinued in February 2023. That makes Fantasy Life i something of a long-awaited sequel for fans of the original. And those fans were clearly hungry for it.
I can understand why as soon as I start playing. Described as a “Slow-Life RPG,” Fantasy Life i is about an archeologist who is accidentally sent to a mysterious world where labor is valued. There’s a big central story here that involves bone dragons, time travel, and the fate of the world, but that makes everything sound more stressful than it is. The real appeal? The fact that I simply get to live a quiet life.
Fantasy Life‘s closest equivalent is Rune Factory, as it mixes some light hack and slash combat in between more peaceful town management. The hook is that players can learn 14 different jobs, each of which has its own skill tree, progression system, and function. I start by getting a cook’s license and am taught how to turn any food items I get into meals by way of a quick minigame. I level up, get access to more meals, and start filling out my skill tree to improve my cooking efficiency. I repeat those steps when I get my licenses to become a miner, woodcutter, angler, and more. I immediately get the appeal as I start obsessing over leveling up each job, completing set tasks to increase my license level.
What’s so neat here is that Fantasy Life essentially allows players to become a town’s entire supply chain. I cut the wood that I use to make swords that I then equip for my paladin job. I can plant my own vegetables by day, cook them by night, and then sell them around town. Lots of life sims allows players to do all of this, but Fantasy Life is clever to break them all out into specific job paths that each have their own RPG progression system. I feel more like a tradesman than a player pressing buttons.
Level-5
That’s only one layer of it, too. There’s also a town building component where I can terraform a patch of land, build houses for villagers, and decorate my house. Then there’s some dungeon crawling, as I can hop into an open-world desert at any time to hunt for materials and level up my classes. Drop a central story on top of that, filled with boss fights and time travel shenanigans, and you’ve got a fairly robust life sim that you could sink well over 100 hours into.
I just have one word of advice if you do decide to jump in: take it slow. When I started, I figured I’d simply mainline its narrative and start doing the life sim part afterwards. That’s doable, but not exactly an ideal experience. Fantasy Life expects players to naturally level up their skills between story missions. I quickly found that late game enemies were kicking my butt because I hadn’t been leveling up each of my combat classes. The more I did, the more skill nodes I could unlock that would boost my attack and defense. And leveling up my blacksmithing skills meant I could make stronger gear for myself. After misunderstanding that, I was left trying to grind everything up quickly, which meant doing a lot of repetitive minigames all at once rather than spreading them out. It’s more difficult to embrace what’s ultimately a series of grinds if you’re doing them all at once.
I have a few gripes with Fantasy Life i that hold it back from being a game I plan to turn into a routine, namely its very limited multiplayer integration that makes it so players can’t work through the story together. Even with that complaint, though, it’s hard not to be charmed by it all. Fantasy Life i is a sweet little game for those who love doing little digital chores and feeling rewarded for every single one. Considering how dark the real world is, it’s the exact kind of escape a lot of us probably need right now. Maybe that’s why it’s so popular.
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is out now on PC and Nintendo Switch.

Microsoft Build summary: 4 big announcements you’ll want to know
Microsoft Build summary: 4 big announcements you’ll want to know
Microsoft Build 2025 is almost at an end. Microsoft’s annual developer conference might be aimed at software engineers and cloud devs, but realistically, there’s plenty in there to dig into even if you don’t work as a programmer. Unsurprisingly, the theme throughout the conference this year (and for some years previous now) has been AI.
In his opening keynote, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella highlighted the importance of AI and the company’s plan of “building the open, agentic web at scale.” The idea is to hand over the reins to Copilot and let the AI agents take over repetitive, costly tasks. Here are some of the most important announcements from this year’s Microsoft Build.
Windows File Explorer gets an AI-powered boost
Microsoft/The Verge
By the sound of it, this is a tool we might all benefit from and not something strictly aimed at devs. Windows File Explorer will now receive something Microsoft refers to as “AI actions.”
Available in Windows 11, AI actions (or shortcuts, if you will) will let you right-click on a file of your choosing and use AI to get things done easier.
Some of the highlights here include the ability to get Copilot to summarize an Office document for you, right from the File Explorer menu. You can also erase unwanted objects from photos, again, thanks to AI, or blur or remove the background with Paint (via Copilot, that is).
As reported by The Verge, there might be more coming than what Microsoft specifically spoke about; four new image-related AI actions are currently in the Dev Channel builds of Windows 11. This includes the ability to find similar images on the web with the help of Bing.
GitHub gets an AI coding agent
The big announcement here is that GitHub Copilot will now be available to all Copilot Enterprise and Copilot Pro+ users, but also that Copilot’s coding agent will save devs a lot of time — which could reduce the time it takes for new features to come out and be available to us all.
Although many developers aren’t huge fans of the use of AI in their daily work, many others find the benefits in automating simpler tasks, which frees them up to work on more complex code. For the latter, Microsoft has just introduced a new coding agent, now available on GitHub.
The agent was made to help programmers with one of the most annoying parts of their jobs — bug fixes. It’ll also take care of adding features and refactoring code. “GitHub continues to be the home for developers. […] We’re doubling down for developers building any applications. Trust, security, compliance, auditability, data residency are even more critical today. Open-source is at the core of GitHub, and we’re taking this next big step,” said Nadella.
You can now translate PDFs directly in Edge
If you deal with a lot of PDFs, you’ll love this one: You’ll soon be able to translate them directly in the Microsoft Edge browser. Simply clicking “translate” in the address bar will let you leverage AI to translate the entire document into one of over 70 languages supplied by Microsoft.
This appears to only be a feature in Edge for Business, though. Right now, it’s rolling out to Windows Canary users and is said to be available next month.
Microsoft 365 gets a major AI boost with new agents
As reported by PCMag, the new update to Copilot is said to be huge. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella himself referred to it as the biggest update since the launch of Teams — and whether you love it or not, it’s hard to deny that Teams turned out to be a pretty big thing worldwide.
Copilot’s current arsenal of AI-powered goodies includes Chat, which is essentially Microsoft’s version of ChatGPT. Search lets Copilot dig through your files and help you find what you’re asking for. The results of both those tools can be summarized in Notebook. Of course, you can also generate images, PowerPoints, and videos with Create.
Microsoft is now taking AI a few steps further by adding Agents. Agentic AI is a big topic these days, so it’s not a surprise to see Microsoft jumping on the bandwagon. Microsoft’s AI agents now include Researcher and Analyst.
Researcher relies on deep reasoning to help you create comprehensive reports. Copilot’s Researcher will be able to search the web and your own files, giving it a solid overview of various sources. Analyst fills in the gaps by being able to analyze data, including massive spreadsheets, to help you analyze (well, duh) various data points and draw accurate comparisons.
Although exciting, these new AI agents will be available to large enterprises. The company needs to be included in Microsoft’s Frontier program to benefit. Perhaps with time, Microsoft will bring AI agents to Copilot at large.
AI, AI everywhere
Microsoft
At this point, no one is surprised when an event such as Microsoft Build focuses solely on the use of AI. Many hoped to hear more about things like the Xbox handheld, but alas, that did not happen.
A lot of the new features and improvements announced during Build weren’t consumer-centric, but I recommend watching the full video if you’re curious about what else is new. Remember to also check out our Best of Computex 2025 roundup to give you a better overview of the exciting tech that made a debut in the last week.

French Open 2025: Aryna Sabalenka beats Kamilla Rakhimova 6-1 6-0 to get Paris campaign under way in style
World number one Aryna Sabalenka dropped only one game as she beat Kamilla Rakhimova to get her French Open campaign under way in emphatic style.
Sabalenka needed just one hour to beat Russian Rakhimova 6-1 6-0 in Paris.
The Belarusian ramped up her performance as the match went on, winning nine games in a row to close out the match.
Opening the first day’s play on Court Philippe Chatrier, Sabalenka served up five aces, hit 30 winners and broke her opponent’s serve five times on her way to a dominant victory under the roof.
A three-time Grand Slam singles champion, Sabalenka has never reached the final of the French Open – her best performance a run to the semi-finals in 2023.
But on this evidence, the 27-year-old is justifying her tag as one of the tournament favourites.
She could face ******** eighth seed Zheng Qinwen – who she beat in the 2024 *********** Open final – in the quarters and three-time defending champion Iga Swiatek in the semis.
Before that, Sabalenka will play Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann or Italian qualifier Lucrezia Stefanini for a spot in the last 32.

BBC arts broadcaster dies aged 78
BBC arts broadcaster dies aged 78
Paul Glynn
Culture reporter
David M. Benett/Dave Benett/Getty Images
Alan Yentob, the long-serving BBC arts broadcaster and documentary-maker, has died aged 78.
Yentob profiled and interviewed a wide range of important cultural and creative figures over the years, including David Bowie, Charles Saatchi, Maya Angelou and Grayson Perry, for TV series such as Omnibus, Arena and Imagine.
He also served as controller of BBC One and Two, and the organisation’s creative director and head of music and arts during a long and varied career.
Paying tribute to her late husband, Philippa Walker described Yentob as “curious, funny, annoying, late and creative in every cell of his body” and added that he was “the kindest of men”.
Yentob, who made the Omnibus documentary Cracked Actor about David Bowie in 1975, interviewed the singer again as he approached his 50th birthday
BBC director-general Tim Davie called him a “creative force and cultural visionary” who championed “originality, risk-taking and artistic ambition”.
He added: “To work with Alan was to be inspired and encouraged to think *******. He had a rare gift for identifying talent and lifting others up – a mentor and champion to so many across the worlds of television, film and theatre.
“Above all, Alan was a true original. His passion wasn’t performative – it was personal. He believed in the power of culture to enrich, challenge and connect us.”
Yentob was known for his connections in the entertainment industry, often befriending his famous film subjects who included music stars Jay-Z and Beyoncé, actors and filmmakers Orson Welles and Mel Brooks, and author Salman Rushdie.
Synonymous with the BBC, Yentob was seen by viewers engaging in an arm wrestle with Rushdie while listening to opera in a scene taken from W1A – a sitcom which satirised life at the corporation.
Yentob’s famous 1975 Omnibus feature, Cracked Actor, about David Bowie, showed the drug-addled star opening up to him in the back of a limousine at an “intensely creative time”, the filmmaker later recalled, but also at the singer’s most “fragile and exhausted”.
Salman Rushdie (left) and Alan Yentob were seen arm wrestling in an episode of BBC parody W1A
Yentob became controller of BBC Two in 1988, making him one of the youngest channel controllers in the corporation’s history.
He oversaw a popular and influential ******* for the channel, with commissions such as hit sitcom Absolutely Fabulous – where his name was dropped into the dialogue of one episode as an in-joke
Other shows launched during his tenure included The Late Show and Have I Got News for You.
Yentob’s success in the role saw him promoted to controller of BBC One from 1993 to 1997, before a stint as BBC television’s overall director of programmes.
He was announced as the corporation’s creative director in 2004, a role he filled for more than a decade. But he continued to step in front of the camera to front more Imagine programmes, including the final episode of that series, a profile of comedic duo French & Saunders.
His commissions also included a TV adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and children’s programmes CBBC and CBeebies.
BBC Radio 4 Today presenter Amol Rajan paid tribute, saying: “He was such a unique and kind man: an improbable impresario from humble origins who became a towering figure in the culture of post-war Britain.
“Modern art never had a more loyal ally. His shows were always brilliant, often masterpieces, sometimes seminal. So much of Britain’s best TV over five decades came via his desk. That was public Alan. In private, he was magnetic, zealous, and very funny, with a mesmerising voice and mischievous chuckle.”
Yentob’s long and successful career at the BBC was not without controversy.
In 2015, he resigned from his role as the BBC’s creative director, having faced scrutiny for his role, as chairman, in the financial mismanagement of the charity Kids Company.
Yentob said the speculation over his conduct – which included claims he had tried to influence the BBC coverage of the charity’s demise – had been “proving a serious distraction” when the BBC was in “particularly challenging times”.
But in the years that followed, he continued to make many more programmes for the broadcaster, and was subsequently appointed a CBE in 2024 for services to the arts and media.
He is survived by his wife, TV producer Philippa Walker, and their two children.

NYT Strands today: hints, spangram and answers for Sunday, May 25
Strands is a brand new daily puzzle from the New York Times. A trickier take on the classic word search, you’ll need a keen eye to solve this puzzle.
Like Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can be a bit difficult to solve some days. There’s no shame in needing a little help from time to time. If you’re stuck and need to know the answers to today’s Strands puzzle, check out the solved puzzle below.
How to play Strands
You start every Strands puzzle with the goal of finding the “theme words” hidden in the grid of letters. Manipulate letters by dragging or tapping to craft words; double-tap the final letter to confirm. If you find the correct word, the letters will be highlighted blue and will no longer be selectable.
If you find a word that isn’t a theme word, it still helps! For every three non-theme words you find that are at least four letters long, you’ll get a hint — the letters of one of the theme words will be revealed and you’ll just have to unscramble it.
Every single letter on the grid is used to spell out the theme words and there is no overlap. Every letter will be used once, and only once.
Each puzzle contains one “spangram,” a special theme word (or words) that describe the puzzle’s theme and touches two opposite sides of the board. When you find the spangram, it will be highlighted yellow.
The goal should be to complete the puzzle quickly without using too many hints.
Hint for today’s Strands puzzle

This HP Chromebook is on ***** for a very affordable $139
This HP Chromebook is on ***** for a very affordable $139
You may want to go for Chromebook deals over traditional laptop deals if you want to buy a new device but you’re on a tight budget. Here’s an excellent example from Best Buy: the HP Chromebook 14a for a very affordable $139, following a $210 discount on its original price of $349. However, it’s not going to stay at less than half-price for long, as we think stocks are already running low. If you don’t want to miss out on this amazing offer, hurry and complete your transaction as soon as you can.
Why you should buy the HP Chromebook 14a
For those who aren’t familiar with Chromebooks, they’re devices powered by Google’s Chrome OS, and they’re generally priced lower than Windows-based laptops because they come with more affordable components. This is evidenced by the Intel Celeron N4500 processor, integrated Intel UHD Graphics, and 4GB of RAM found in the HP Chromebook 14a. It’s still pretty quick though, as the operating system relies on web-based apps instead of installed software for low overhead. It’s not going to run as fast as the top-tier models of the best laptops, but the HP Chromebook 14a will be a reliable companion for basic tasks like carrying out online research, typing documents, and joining video calls.
The HP Chromebook 14a is very portable as it features a 14-inch HD screen, and HP Fast Charge technology will bring its battery from zero to 50% in just 45 minutes so you can keep using it while you’re on the go. The Chromebook only has a 64GB eMMC for storage, but you can save your files on cloud storage services like Google Drive instead.
You’ll already get fantastic value from the HP Chromebook 14a if you buy it for its sticker price of $349, so it’s a steal at its lowered price of only $139 from Best Buy. That’s $210 in savings that more than halves the price of the laptop, but if you want to secure it, you’ll need to act fast. There’s a chance that stocks are already gone by tomorrow, so add the HP Chromebook 14a to your cart and proceed with the checkout process immediately.

India to discuss with security agencies IndiGo’s Turkish Airlines partnership
India to discuss with security agencies IndiGo’s Turkish Airlines partnership
By Abhijith Ganapavaram
NEW DELHI (Reuters) -India will discuss with security agencies IndiGo’s codeshare and leasing pacts with Turkish Airlines and decide on further action, its civil aviation minister said on Friday.
The move follows growing public anger in India against Turkey’s support for Pakistan during a recent conflict sparked by an attack on tourists by Islamist assailants in Indian Kashmir.
“We are taking input from IndiGo on that and also with the necessary security agencies, and we’d like to see how to proceed with that,” Minister Rammohan Naidu told reporters on the sidelines of an event in New Delhi.
IndiGo and Turkish Airlines did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
IndiGo has previously defended the partnership, saying that it offers multiple benefits to Indian travellers, boosts aviation growth and jobs, and has enabled IndiGo to build its presence in long-haul markets in Europe and the U.S.
IndiGo began a codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines in 2018, allowing it to offer many international destinations to its customers.
Since 2023, India’s dominant domestic airline has also had a leasing arrangement with state-backed Turkish Airlines, which has provided two planes with pilots and some crew to IndiGo to operate on New Delhi- and Mumbai-to-Istanbul routes.
The two agreements have faced growing calls to be scrapped.
Rival Air India has lobbied Indian officials to halt IndiGo’s leasing tie-up with Turkish Airlines, citing business impact as well as security concerns sparked by Istanbul’s support for Pakistan, Reuters reported last week.
The Indian government earlier this month revoked security clearance of the Turkish ground handling service firm Celebi, citing national security, resulting in a lawsuit from the Indian arm of the Turkish firm.
Small Indian grocery shops and major online fashion retailers are boycotting Turkish products, including chocolates, coffee, jams, cosmetics and clothing.
The boycott came after Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan expressed public solidarity with Pakistan after India conducted military strikes in response to the killing of tourists.

4 graphics cards you should consider instead of the RTX 5060
4 graphics cards you should consider instead of the RTX 5060
Nvidia’s RTX 5060 is finally here, and many people hoped it’d put up a fight against some of the best graphics cards. Does it really, though? Reviewers are split on the matter. Alas, I’m not here to judge the card. I’m here to show you some alternatives.
While Nvidia’s xx60 cards typically become some of the most popular GPUs of any given generation, they’re not the only option you have right now. The RTX 5060 might not even be the best option at that price point. Below, I’ll walk you through four GPUs that I think you should buy instead of the RTX 5060.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060
Jacob ****** / Digital Trends
I’m not sure whether this will come as a surprise or not, but based on current pricing and benchmarks, the GPU I recommend buying instead of the RTX 5060 is its last-gen equivalent.
The RTX 4060 is one of the last RTX 40-series graphics cards that are still readily available around MSRP. I found one for $329 at Newegg, and it’s an overclocked model, meaning slightly faster performance than the base version. However, you might as well just buy a used RTX 4060 if you find it from a trustworthy source, as that’ll cost you a whole lot less.
The RTX 5060 and the RTX 4060 have a lot in common. Spec-wise, they’re not at all far apart, although Nvidia’s newer Blackwell architecture and the switch to GDDR7 VRAM give the newer GPU a bit more oomph. But, unfortunately, both cards share the same 8GB RAM — an increasingly small amount in today’s gaming world — and the same narrow 128-bit bus.
Some reviewers note that the RTX 5060 isn’t far ahead of the RTX 4060 in raw performance. The newer card gets the full benefit of Nvidia’s Multi-Frame Generation, though. Overall, they’re pretty comparable, but if you can score a used RTX 4060 for cheap, I’d go for it.
AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT (or the RX 9060 XT)
Jacob ****** / Digital Trends
I wasn’t a big fan of the RX 7600 XT 16GB upon launch, and I still have some beef with that card. Much like Nvidia’s options, AMD equipped its mainstream GPU with a really narrow memory interface, stifling the bandwidth and holding back its performance. Still, in the current climate, I’ll take that 16GB with the 128-bit bus over a card that has the same interface and only sports 8GB VRAM.
The cheapest RX 7600 XT 16GB costs around $360, and you can find it on the shelves with ease. But it’s the same scenario here — if you can find it used from a trustworthy source, it might be worth it, assuming you’re on a tight budget. The state of the GPU market as of late has made me appreciate second-hand GPUs a lot more.
The RX 7600 XT is slower than the RTX 5060, and it’ll fall behind in ray tracing, but it gives you plenty of RAM where Nvidia’s card offers very little. That alone makes it worthy of your consideration.
AMD’s upcoming RX 9060 XT could be a great option here, too. I expect it to offer better ray tracing capabilities than the RX 7600 XT, and it’ll have the same $300 price tag as Nvidia’s RTX 5060.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB
Gigabyte
If your budget is a little bit flexible, you could go one level up and get the RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB of RAM. Unfortunately, the cheapest options are at around $479 right now, which is well over the MSRP and a whopping $180 more than the RTX 5060. However, for that price, you’ll get yourself a GPU that’s better suited to stand the test of time.
With 16GB of video memory and the full benefit of GDDR7 RAM, the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB offers an upgrade over the last-gen version. It’s not perfect by any stretch, though. Reviewers put the GPU below the RX 9070 non-XT, the RTX 5070, and even the RTX 4070 when you consider pure rasterization. This means no so-called “fake frames,” which is what Nvidia’s DLSS 4 delivers.
That leaves the RTX 5060 Ti in an odd spot. Basically, if your budget can stretch to it, the RX 9070 and the RTX 5070 are both better cards; they’re also a lot more expensive.
Intel Arc B580
Jacob ****** / Digital Trends
Less demanding gamers might find an option in Intel’s Arc B580. Upon launch, the GPU surprised pretty much everyone with its excellent performance-per-dollar ratio. The downside? That ratio is now a lot less impressive, because unexpected demand and low stock levels brought the price of the Arc B580 far above its $250 recommended list price (MSRP).
The Arc B580 is a little bit slower than the RTX 4060 Ti, so it’ll be slower than the RTX 5060, too. It also can’t put up a fight as far as ray tracing goes. But it’s a budget-friendly GPU and a solid alternative to the RTX 5060 if you’d rather pick up something else this time around.
My advice? Wait it out
Jacob ****** / Digital Trends
It’s not a great time to buy a GPU.
The more successful and impressive cards from this generation, such as AMD’s RX 9070 XT or Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti, keep selling above MSRP. Those that aren’t quite as exciting may stick around MSRP (which is where the RTX 5060 sits right now, mere days after launch) … but that doesn’t make up for their shortcomings.
Given the fact that reviews of the RTX 5060 are still pretty scarce, I’d wait it out for a week or two. Read some comparisons, check out the prices, and then decide. Gambling on a GPU just because the previous generations were solid doesn’t work anymore, and that’s now clearer than ever.

Groups sue over West Virginia governor’s order on religious exemptions for school vaccines
Groups sue over West Virginia governor’s order on religious exemptions for school vaccines
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Two groups filed a lawsuit Friday over an executive order by West Virginia Republican Gov. Patrick Morrisey granting religious exemptions from required school vaccinations.
The American Civil Liberties Union’s West Virginia chapter and Mountain State Justice filed the lawsuit against the state Department of Health, its Bureau for Public Health and agency leaders on behalf of two parents in Kanawha County Circuit Court.
The vaccine exemption was among several executive orders issued by Morrisey on his first full day in office in January.
“Governors do not rule by decree,” ACLU-West Virginia legal director Aubrey Sparks said in a statement. “At the center of this lawsuit is who gets to make these decisions for our students. On this question, the state Constitution is clear that the authority lies with the Legislature, not the governor.”
The governor’s office and the Department of Health did not immediately respond to emailed requests for comment Friday on the lawsuit.
Morrisey’s order upended a school vaccination policy long heralded by medical experts as one of the most protective in the country for kids. State law requires children to receive vaccines for chickenpox, hepatitis B, measles, meningitis, mumps, diphtheria, polio, rubella, tetanus and whooping cough before starting school. The state does not require COVID-19 vaccinations.
Legislation that would have allowed religious exemptions to vaccination requirements, among other things, was passed by the state Senate and rejected by the House of Delegates earlier this year.
State schools Superintendent Michelle Blatt issued a memorandum to all 55 county superintendents May 2 recommending that students not be allowed to attend school in the 2025-26 without required immunizations. But that same day, Blatt rescinded the memo at Morrisey’s request, according to the lawsuit.
Morrisey later issued a statement saying he had no intention of rescinding the executive order. He said parents can apply for a religious exemption from vaccinations through the Bureau for Public Health.
Last year, Republican then-Gov. Jim Justice vetoed a less sweeping vaccination bill passed by the Republican-supermajority Legislature that would have exempted private school and some nontraditional public school students from vaccination requirements.
Morrisey, who served as West Virginia’s attorney general from 2013 until he was sworn in as governor, said he believes religious exemptions to vaccinations should already be permitted under a 2023 law passed by the state Legislature called the Equal Protection for Religion Act. The law stipulates that the government can’t “substantially burden” someone’s constitutional right to freedom of religion unless it can prove there is a “compelling interest” to restrict that right.
Morrisey has said that law hasn’t “been fully and properly enforced” since it passed.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Dr. Joshua Hess of Cabell County and Marisa Jackson of Kanawha County. It said Hess has a child who is immunocompromised and that Jackson has a child who, because of decreased community use of immunizations, is more susceptible to illness.
Along with Mississippi, West Virginia is the U.S. state with the worst health outcomes and lowest life expectancy rates.
“Parents should be able to know their child will be safe when they send them off to school,” said Mountain State Justice executive director Sarah Brown. “We are seeing the devastating effects of loosening vaccine requirements across the country, and that’s why the Legislature wisely declined to loosen the restrictions here in West Virginia. It’s vital that their decision not be undermined by the executive branch.”

Scientists discover mysterious sphere in Colombia, sparking UFO speculation
Scientists discover mysterious sphere in Colombia, sparking UFO speculation
Scientists have made a remarkable discovery of a sphere that some believe to be an unidentified flying object (UFO).
The sphere, according to social media page @Truthpolex, was spotted March 2 flying over the town of Buga, Colombia, before it landed. Jose Luis Velazquez, one of the researchers studying the three-layered sphere, noted that it shows “no welds or joints,” characteristics normally indicative of human manufacture, which further bolstered his belief in its extraterrestrial origin.
Julia Mossbridge, the executive director of the Institute for Love and Time (TILT), and a member of the University of San Diego Department of Physics and Biophysics, told Fox News Digital she remains skeptical of its extraterrestrial origins.
“It looks to me like a really cool art project,” she said, urging caution in drawing immediate conclusions.
Ufo Footage Captured By Us Navy Shows Mysterious Aircraft Launching From Sea, Expert Says
Mossbridge framed the mysterious object as part of a “******* picture” in which humanity must confront its own limitations.

“We are entering a time when we don’t have the control that we thought we had,” she said, noting that prior “grandiose” beliefs in total mastery blind us when “something shows up that doesn’t fit our model of the world.
“If an artist is doing this, why is that? Well, I think it’s partly the same reason. It’s because we’re learning that we don’t understand what’s in our skies, what’s in our waters. And there’s something going on that’s essentially ******* than us,” she said.
Former Defense Official Makes Earth-shattering Ufo Revelation As Unexplained Drones Leave Millions On Edge
The U.S. government is compelled to investigate reports of UFOs to identify any issues regarding threats to national security.
She says sightings of unexplained objects have been around for decades.
“Frankly, we’ve been looking at UAPs (unidentified anomalous phenomena) for decades, and the federal government has admitted that there are things that we don’t understand, but we are investigating them,” she said.
Mossbridge said the coalition of individuals working to find answers, such as the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies, the UAP Disclosure Fund and the Galileo Project, are made of people of “all political persuasions.”
“They are all trying to get rigorous information themselves, not necessarily waiting on the federal government, about what’s going on in our skies, what’s going on in our waters and actually trying to get international cooperation around these things,” she said. “Because, for instance, the sphere in Colombia is in a different country. So, what are the rules about how we deal with something that’s interesting that’s found there?”
Pentagon Solves One Of Its Highest-profile Ufo Mysteries
A UFO in the sky.
Mossbridge urged thorough vetting before declaring anomalies in mysterious discoveries.
“Before you decide something’s anomalous or a UFO, bring the object to a group like the Galileo Project,” she said.
She said experts can determine if the material is “clearly non-human-made.”
Despite her misgivings about the discovery in Buga, she said it doesn’t “discount all the other objects that are of extraterrestrial origin.”

When Will You Receive Your Retroactive Payment?
When Will You Receive Your Retroactive Payment?
In January, President Joe Biden signed a law repealing the Windfall Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset, which limited or eliminated Social Security benefits for civil servants, railroad workers and federal employees whose jobs weren’t covered by Social Security. The new law, called the Social Security Fairness Act, made eligible individuals’ Social Security benefits retroactive from January 2024.

Social Security Benefits Might Be Harder To Qualify for in the Future: Here’s What You Need To Know
Find Out: 7 Tax Loopholes the Rich Use To Pay Less and Build More Wealth
If you and/or an eligible family member missed out on benefit payments for January 2024 or later because of the old rules, you’ll receive a single retroactive payment to make up the lost benefits.
The first retroactive payments went out in February as direct deposits. The SSA expected to have most of the retroactive payments out by April, and as of May 9, 85% of payments had been processed. However, in complex cases that can’t be handled automatically, payments could take until November to process and send out.
The SSA doesn’t have a process in place for checking on your payment, but it does offer information about what you can expect as you wait. Some individuals will receive or have received a notice that their WEP or GPO restrictions are being lifted.
Everyone who is eligible for the benefit increase and/or retroactive payment should receive a letter from the SSA alerting you to the changes. This notice might not arrive until after you’ve received your payment, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the bank account where you receive direct deposits.

You can help avoid unnecessary delays by creating or logging in to your my Social Security account, which you can access here to make sure the SSA has your correct mailing address and direct deposit information.
For many, the payment will be worth the wait. The average amount was $6,710 as of March 4, and that’s on top of an average monthly benefit increase of $360, according to the office of Rep. Shontel Brown (D-OH).

Can Pope Leo remain a U.S. citizen now that he’s a foreign head of state?
Can Pope Leo remain a U.S. citizen now that he’s a foreign head of state?
Pope Leo XIV’s election as the first U.S.-born leader of the Catholic Church elevated him to the extremely rare, and legally thorny, position of being an American citizen who now is also a foreign head of state.
Born in Chicago as Robert Prevost in 1955, the new pope for the past decade has held dual citizenship in the U.S. and Peru, where he spent time as a missionary and bishop.
As pope, Leo serves as leader of both the Holy See, the governing body of the Catholic Church, and ******** City, an independent state.
Can the pope remain a U.S. citizen while leading a foreign government? Here are things to know about Leo’s citizenship.
Is the ******** considered a sovereign nation?
In addition to being the spiritual leader for what the church says is roughly 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide, Leo is also the head of what’s recognized as the world’s smallest nation.
******** City covers just 0.17 square miles (0.44 square kilometers) and has a population of a few hundred people. It became an independent state in 1929 under a treaty between Italy and the Holy See.
Could Leo be stripped of his U.S. citizenship?
Americans working for foreign governments aren’t automatically at risk of forfeiting their U.S. citizenship.
But the U.S. State Department says on its website that it may “actively review” the citizenship status of Americans who “serve as a foreign head of state, foreign head of government, or foreign minister.”
“Such cases raise complex questions of international law, including issues related to the level of immunity from U.S. jurisdiction that the person so serving may be afforded,” the policy states.
The State Department declined to comment on the pope’s status. A spokesperson said the department doesn’t discuss the citizenship of individuals.
The core issue is whether foreign leaders should hold American citizenship when they also enjoy broad immunity from U.S. laws, said Peter Spiro, a Temple University law professor and an expert on citizenship law. Such immunity clashes with the constitutional principle that no U.S. citizen should be above the law.
However, the U.S. Supreme Court in a 1980 decision ruled that Americans can’t be stripped of their citizenship unless they intentionally renounce it.
“The State Department never assumes that you intend to lose your citizenship unless you specifically say so through the renunciation process,” Spiro said.
He said it would be hard to argue that Leo, by becoming pope, demonstrated an intent to give up being a U.S. citizen.
“I think it’s highly unlikely that the U.S. moves to terminate the pope’s citizenship,” Spiro said.
Can the pope remain a citizen of Peru?
Peruvian law has no conflict with Pope Leo remaining a citizen, said Jorge Puch, deputy director of registry archives at Peru’s National Registry of Identification and Civil Status.
Leo was granted Peruvian citizenship in August 2015, the month before Pope Francis appointed him bishop of Chiclayo in the South American country’s northern region. To qualify, he had to live in Peru for at least two years and pass a civics test.
“It is the most praiseworthy thing our beloved supreme pontiff could have done: Wanting to have Peruvian nationality without having been Peruvian by birth,” Puch said.
All adult Peruvians, including naturalized citizens, are required to vote in elections through age 69. Voting in Peru’s presidential election next April won’t be mandatory for Leo. He turns 70 in September.
Did prior popes retain citizenship in their home countries?
It’s not clear what happened to the citizenship status of Leo’s predecessors once they became pope. That’s not information the ******** discloses.
Pope Francis renewed his passport in his home country of Argentina in 2014, the year after he became pope. *******-born Pope Benedict XVI and Pope John Paul II, a native of Poland, never publicly relinquished citizenship in their home countries.
John Paul was the first non-Italian pope in 455 years.
Margaret Susan Thompson, a Syracuse University history professor and expert on American Catholicism, said she doubts Leo would renounce his U.S. citizenship. But she believes the new pope was sending a message when he delivered his first speech in Italian and Spanish without using English.
“I think he wants to stress that he is the pope of the universal Catholic Church,” Thompson said, “and not an American holding that position.”
Have other US citizens served as leaders of a foreign government?
Yes. Here are a few notable examples.
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was born in New York to British parents in 1964. He left the U.S. as a young boy and renounced his American citizenship in 2016 while serving as the U.K.’s foreign secretary. Johnson became prime minister three years later.
Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed was an American citizen when he was elected president of Somalia in 2017. Born in Somalia, he moved to the U.S. in 1985 and became a citizen in the 1990s. Mohamed gave up his U.S. citizenship two years into his presidency.
Valdas Adamkus became a U.S. citizen after his family fled Lithuania to escape Soviet occupation. He returned to win Lithuania’s presidency in 1998, years after the Soviet Union collapsed. He relinquished his American citizenship after being elected.

1 Stock Down 97% That Could Double, According to Wall Street
Editas Medicine focuses on developing gene-editing treatments.
The struggling biotech recently gave up on its leading pipeline candidate.
Even if it matches Wall Street’s estimates in the next year, the stock is too risky.
10 stocks we like better than Editas Medicine ›
Over the past few years, investors have moved away from somewhat speculative and unprofitable companies to put their money into safer, steadier investments. Editas Medicine (NASDAQ: EDIT), a gene-editing-focused clinical-stage biotech, is firmly in the speculative camp, which is why its shares are down by 97% since early 2021.
The stock is trading for about $1.50 right now. However, its average price target of $3.38 (according to Yahoo! Finance) implies a potential upside of about 125%. Should investors scoop up the company’s shares expecting them to soar?

Developing and marketing gene-editing therapies is challenging, as Editas Medicine knows well. The company’s previous leading program was called reni-cel. It was being tested as a potential treatment for two rare blood disorders: sickle cell disease (SCD) and transfusion-dependent beta-thalassemia (TDT).
Here is the problem: Ex vivo gene-editing therapies are complex to administer. The process requires collecting patients’ cells, editing them, and reinserting them into the patients. Even going through the clinical trial phase for a treatment of this kind is more expensive than if it were a simple oral pill.
Though reni-cel was making progress and showing strong signs of efficacy with the patients who had received treatment, Editas Medicine decided to discontinue its development because it couldn’t find a commercial partner with big pockets.
Even before that, though, Editas Medicine was fighting an uphill battle. Between 2022 and 2023, three gene-editing therapies were approved in the U.S.: Zynteglo, Lyfgenia, and Casgevy. Zynteglo and Lyfgenia treated TDT and SCD, respectively, while Casgevy targeted both. Editas Medicine’s relatively slow progress with reni-cel didn’t bode well with investors, considering there were already competing therapies on the market.
The company’s decision to discontinue this program was the right one — the move hardly makes the stock particularly attractive, but trying to push reni-cel toward commercialization despite its slow progress and the competitive landscape would have been prohibitively expensive.
Editas Medicine has decided to pivot toward developing in vivo gene-editing therapies. Unlike the ex vivo variety, these kinds are administered via injection into the body of therapeutic genes — so there is no need to collect the patients’ cells. Editas Medicine has partners for some of its in vivo programs. It is working on some medicines with Bristol Myers Squibb, a leading pharmaceutical company.
Story Continues
Further, Editas Medicine has decreased expenses and costs thanks to discontinuing the development of reni-cel and laying off a sizable portion of its workforce. It expects its cash and equivalents balance of $221 million as of the end of the first quarter to keep it afloat until the second quarter of 2027.
With a stock price of $1.50, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see this company more than double in value in the next year, perhaps because of progress with an early-stage clinical program, or licensing deals for one of its medicines, or buyout interest from a larger drugmaker.
However, Editas Medicine is far too risky a stock for long-term investors. Its current candidates haven’t even started human clinical trials yet. It will be years before any get close to approval. It’s also worth pointing out that Editas Medicine gave up the development of EDIT-101 and EDIT-103, two potential gene-editing therapies for various eye diseases, also because it failed to find a commercial partner.
Given the biotech’s poor track record and the current state of its operations, investing in the stock right now and expecting it to generate strong returns over the long run wouldn’t be that different from gambling.
