  1. How to Farm Sand of Clarity in Once Human: Best Locations & Tips How to Farm Sand of Clarity in Once Human: Best Locations & Tips Once Human recently launched a massive update introducing the Endless Dreams map, a surreal alternate world packed with mystery, danger, and a brand-new resource: Sand of Clarity. These materials can be found in the dream zones. These are a rare material and are very essential for activating Nightmare Tubes and uncovering hidden bosses. If you’re aiming to stockpile Sand of Clarity efficiently, you’ll need to explore the right areas and follow some smart farming strategies. Here’s everything you need to know to start harvesting Sand of Clarity like a pro. Best locations to find Sand of Clarity in Once Human Sand of Clarity is exclusively found inside Dream Zones, which appear across the Endless Dreams map. Within these zones, your main focus should be mining Wakeful Clocks: golden clock-like structures that come in two forms: one shaped like a tombstone and another resembling a short pole. These structures emit visible electrical sparks, which you should ignore, and are spread generously throughout each Dream Zone. Some of the best farming routes are found just below the Blackfell area. If you hover over the map, look for a region named: Red Sands- Evergreen Area, bottom right of your screen. This zone has a particularly high concentration of Wakeful Clocks and elite enemies that drop Sand of Clarity when defeated. Another area which has an abundant number of Wakeful clocks is near the Blackheart Region, near the Giant’s Stairs teleportation tower. Essentially, players need to visit places where there are a dense number of dream zones so they can farm efficitently. In addition to clocks, keep an eye out for: Elite Enemies: Roaming tough mobs within Dream Zones that drop Sand upon defeat. White Footprints: These signal Mythic Chest Runners, elusive mobs that drop 20–30 Sand when killed. Dream Zone Crates: Floating loot boxes that can also contain Sand. Reach them by building platforms. Tips and strategies for efficient Sand of Clarity farming Dream big, farm hard: the Sand of Clarity isn’t going to dig itself up. | Image Credit: Starry Studio To maximize your farming runs, follow these key tips: Set a Temporary Camp: Build a respawn point just outside the Dream Zone. These areas can be brutal, and having a nearby camp saves time if you die. Watch the Timer: A countdown appears above your health bar when inside a Dream Zone, as your time inside them is limited. But if you bring a Reality Resetol, an item which refreshes the timer and extends your run. Use Buff Items: Craft and consume Canned Seafood in Oil before entering. This consumable boosts mining and logging by 66% or 666%, making Sand collection faster. You can use an item that makes u double jump, making it easy to get to the Wakeful clocks from a little height. Recommended Loadout: Equip high-mobility gear and a strong ranged weapon. You’ll need speed to hit multiple nodes and power to deal with elite mobs. Route Planning: Prioritize zones with clustered clocks and known elite mob paths. Try to be outside the starter area. While the enemies outside are stronger but there will be a lot less players. Farming Sand of Clarity is a race against time, but with the right setup and strategy (Don’t be afraid to run away, as this area can be devastating), you’ll leave each Dream Zone with a bag full of Sand of Clarity and rewards to match. 4. Inglis lights way as Punjab power to top-two IPL place Inglis lights way as Punjab power to top-two IPL place Ricky Ponting’s Punjab Kings have secured a top-two spot in the Indian Premier League playoffs, and the *********** coach would be forgiven for conveying a large vote of thanks to compatriot Josh Inglis. Punjab have yet to taste ultimate IPL glories, and there are still two huge steps to take but the *********** pair could be about to deliver something special. Inglis, Yorkshire-born but every bit an *********** hero after his achievements in securing that famous victory over England in the Champions Trophy earlier this year, smashed 73 as five-time winners Mumbai Indians were humbled by seven wickets on Monday. Ably assisted by Priyansh Arya, who made 62, wicketkeeper-batter Inglis demolished the Mumbai bowling as Punjab cruised to 3-187 in reply to Mumbai’s below-par 7-184. Inglis’s contribution was hailed by Mumbai captain Shreyas Iyer, who was Ponting’s record-breaking capture at last winter’s player auction. Iyer said: “Obviously, he’s a big match player and we saw that today. So, yeah, fantastic attitude and I hope that he keeps continuing with the same.” Punjab will play qualifier 1 – against Royal Challengers Bengaluru or Gujarat Titans – on Thursday with the winner going directly to the June 3 final. Mumbai, meanwhile, will play eliminator 1 on Friday, also against one of the same pair. Gujarat are second in the table but could be overtaken by Bengaluru if they beat the already-eliminated Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday, when the play-off picture will become clear. Ponting was quick to praise his players but also injected a cautionary note. “I think it’s pretty obvious to see that this is a really talented team that are all on the same page and heading in the same direction,” he said. “It’s a great achievement till now but really, if you look back, we haven’t achieved anything yet. That’s the one thing I’ve been saying to the players since the moment we qualified.” Arya and Inglis, enjoying his first season in the IPL, combined for 109 runs off just 59 ****** after Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah inside the batting powerplay. Arya hit Trent Boult for three boundaries off the first four ****** he faced from the New Zealander. Arya raised his half-century from 27 ****** when he hit Hardik Pandya for six over wide long-on and bashed Jasprit Bumrah for a six over fine leg. Inglis shrugged off the spin threat of Mitchell Santner, whose first two overs went for 23, while impact player Ashwani Kumar was dropped from the attack after being hammered for 16, in his only over. Santner finished with 2-41 when he had Arya caught at long-off in the 15th over, and Inglis was out lbw when he missed a paddle shot against the left-arm spinner in the 18th over with Punjab just 14 runs from victory. They won with nine ****** to spare. Suryakumar Yadav’s 57, his 14th successive score of 25-plus in T20s, was the cornerstone of Mumbai’s total. Ryan Rickelton, playing in his last IPL game before joining South Africa for the World Test Championship final against Australia in London next month, lashed a 20-ball 27, while Rohit Sharma struggled to 24 when he holed out to long-on against left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar. 5. At commemoration of Dayton Peace Accords, NATO leader urges military spending to counter Russia At commemoration of Dayton Peace Accords, NATO leader urges military spending to counter Russia DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Representatives from NATO-aligned nations concluded a gathering in Dayton, Ohio, Monday to mark the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords, the agreement that ended the Bosnian war, amid Russia’s unprecedented drone offensive in Ukraine. NATO formed in 1949 to provide collective security against the Soviet Union. It now includes 32 countries. Ukraine is not a member, but participants in NATO gatherings over the past week have said a victory against Russia in the 3-year-old war is crucial to European and global stability. The anniversary was framed as a celebration of diplomacy and peace. The original accords were negotiated at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, in Ohio, and signed in Paris later that year. “The Western Balkans has shown that peace is possible. But today Europe is not at peace. Russia has brought war back to Europe,” said NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte at Monday’s meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the culmination of the five-day gathering. Rutte called on NATO member leaders to make the case at home for increasing military spending, suggesting that an increase to 5% of gross domestic product over the next few years could be reached in an agreement next month, in line with demands from the NATO member U.S. Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Italy, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain do not currently spend at least 2% of GDP on national defense budgets, a goal agreed to in 2023 as Russia’s war on Ukraine entered its second year. So far, 22 of the 32 member countries have done so. Next month, the members will debate increasing that percentage to 3.5%, plus another 1.5% in spending on defense-related projects like roads and cybersecurity infrastructure. Cultural events accompanied the official meetings in Ohio, including art and history exhibits, public lectures, and a Concert for Peace featuring musicians from Dayton and Bosnia’s capital of Sarajevo. A downtown “NATO Village” displayed flags from member nations, and additional exhibits highlighted the city’s international ties. 7. Destroyer Toia gets Maroons tick from 1995 tyro Ikin Destroyer Toia gets Maroons tick from 1995 tyro Ikin Queensland centre and debutant Robert Toia has received the ultimate endorsement from the Maroon who knows what being thrown into the State of Origin cauldron out of the blue is all about. In 1995 the Maroons famously debuted 18-year-old Ben Ikin after four first grade games for Gold Coast Seagulls, as the youngest and least experienced in terms of games played in Origin history. Queensland won the series 3-0 and Ikin, now the Queensland Rugby League CEO, went on to play 17 Origin games in a decorated career. Sydney Roosters rookie Toia, 20, has played just 10 NRL games. In the Origin series opener at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night he will join NSW prop Payne Haas as the least experienced Origin debutant in terms of top grade games in the NRL era. Ikin, still the all-time record holder, has no doubt Toia will do the Maroons proud. “What I have seen from Robert so far this season is pretty impressive. I will say that he is miles in front of where I was as a player at this stage of his career,” Ikin said. “He can move. He is a threat with the ball and seems really locked in without it. He has been really well coached by Trent Robinson in a good system so he comes into the camp in good shape. “My advice to him, having been there and done it before, would be to keep it simple, work hard and just keep turning up for your mate. Origin is just a test of who can go the hardest for the longest.” That’s how it was in 1995 when rookie coach Paul Vautin’s “Neville Nobodies” prevailed in a clean sweep against all odds. “My experience was made better by the environment I came into,” Ikin said. “Fatty Vautin, for all the TV host and comedian we see publicly, privately he is a very smart guy who thinks deeply about the game and knows and understands how to win Origin football. “He gave us a very clear and simple game plan and got us all deeply connected, which is exactly what (current Maroons coach) Billy Slater has been doing since he took on this job. “He knows Origin footy is different and he will create an environment that all of these players, not just Robert Toia, can step into and deliver their best for the people of Queensland.” Toia has unleashed a deadly right-foot step, power, speed and strength in his short career for the Roosters. Ikin said his lack of NRL experience would not count against him. “I think in any industry if you are good enough you are old enough,” Ikin said. “The other thing that gives me great confidence in Robert is that I have great confidence in Billy. Billy watches every game every week and knows exactly what kind of footy he wants this Origin team to play. “He knows what he stands for and spends his spare time watching those games and looking for those traits in the players he wants to select. “So if Robert Toia is in a Billy Slater-coached team, you can bet your bottom dollar he has earned his spot”. 8. Intel uncovers alleged embezzlement involving former employee and supplier Intel uncovers alleged embezzlement involving former employee and supplier Israeli news source Calcalist has reported that Intel Israel has initiated legal action against Natalia Avtsin, a former employee, and Yafim Tsibolevsky, a previous component supplier, for their alleged conspiracy to embezzle over NIS 3 million, approximately $842,000. This embezzlement allegedly took place between October 2023 and November 2024, remaining undetected until Intel exposed the fraud. Avtsin was employed in Intel Israel’s hardware production department until her dismissal in November 2024. Intel stated that her termination was part of a strategy to reduce operations in Israel and was unrelated to her alleged crimes, which were still undiscovered at that time. In September 2023, Tsibolevsky registered as an authorized dealer under the name “Energy Electronics 2000” and subsequently became an official Intel supplier the following month. Avtsin and Tsibolevsky’s operation began with Avtsin asking Tsibolevsky for price quotes on hardware components. Avtsin then sent the quotes to her manager for approval, but supposedly altered the transaction classification afterward. She is said to have changed the classification from “components” to “services,” which bypasses essential verification protocols. Logically, only an insider could know how a reclassification can easily bypass many security checks. You may like Intel Israel informed Calcalist that payments for services were less strict compared to payments for components. For service payments, a signed delivery note or confirmation receipt was not required. With no verification barriers, Tsibolevsky could submit invoices and receive payments at his convenience. If the purchase had been classified as “services,” Tsibolevsky would not have escaped scrutiny, as Energy Electronics 2000 failed to register with Intel for service provision. To evade detection, Tsibolevsky issued invoices of $20,000 or less, aligning with Avtsin’s transaction limit. Once more, Tsibolevsky would have likely been unaware of this information without an insider’s involvement. Intel Israel’s investigation suggests possible third-party involvement. It appears that certain transactions were processed through Levanon Kogan, a company providing purchasing services to firms that are not registered with Intel. The chipmaker has not accused Levanon Kogan of any misdemeanor, but these activities appear to correlate with the scheme of Avtsin and Tsibolevsky. In certain operations, Avtsin obtained a quote from Tsibolevsky and requested Levanon Kogan to make payments to him. Like with other fraudulent schemes, she allegedly reclassified these transactions from components to services. Intel found that as many as 30 counterfeit orders were processed via Levanon Kogan, amounting to over NIS 2 million, or approximately $561,000. 12. Man arrested after car hits people at Liverpool FC trophy parade Man arrested after car hits people at Liverpool FC trophy parade A 53-year-old man was detained Monday after a car collided with people at the Liverpool Football Club trophy parade in Liverpool, England, police and witnesses said. Police were called to the scene in the city center, more than 200 miles northwest of London, at about 1 p.m. ET (6 p.m. local time). There were reports of a car colliding with “a number of pedestrians,” the Merseyside Police said on social media. “The car stopped at the scene and a male detained.” Police later said a 53-year-old British man from the Liverpool area was arrested. “We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening,” Liverpool FC said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident.” Tens of thousands of fans had gathered for the parade Monday, lining the streets to watch Liverpool’s players display the Premier League trophy. Harry Rashid, who was at the parade with his wife and two young daughters, told The Associated Press a car began ramming people about 10 feet away from him. “It was extremely fast,” Rashid said. “Initially, we just heard the pop, pop, pop of people just being knocked off the bonnet of a car.” Another witness, Luke Dutch, told CBS News the driving seemed “definitely intentional” and the “driver just shut the door and didn’t seem to care” before running over people. Police did not immediately give information on casualties. Photos from the scene showed multiple ambulances and first responders, and an ambulance service said it was responding to the incident. North West Ambulance Service “is supporting an incident in Liverpool city centre, following reports of a road traffic collision,” the organization said in a statement. “We are currently assessing the situation and working with other members of the emergency services. Our priority is to ensure people receive the medical help they need as quickly as possible.” Police and emergency personnel responded to reports of a car colliding with pedestrians in Liverpool on May 26, 2025. / Credit: Danny Lawson/PA Images via Getty Images U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer wrote on social media that “the scenes in Liverpool are appalling.” “My thoughts are with all those injured or affected,” he wrote. “I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident.” The Merseyside Police said an investigation into the collision was underway. “We would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding tonight’s incident on Water Street in Liverpool city centre,” the police wrote on social media. “Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.” This is a developing story. Shire of Dardanup recognised as a best practice entity in financial reporting for second year running Shire of Dardanup recognised as a best practice entity in financial reporting for second year running For the second consecutive year, the Shire of Dardanup has been recognised as a best practice entity in financial reporting by the Office of the Auditor-General. The accolade — awarded for work during the the 2023-24 financial year — comes from the OAG’s annual Local Government Financial Audit Results report, which reviewed the financial reporting practices of 135 local governments across WA. The Shire of Dardanup was one of 19 local governments recognised for financial reporting, and the only one in the South West. The criteria for a best practice entity includes the timelessness of a chief executive-certified financial report, the quality of financial report, the quality of working papers supporting the report and the management resolution of accounting matters. It also includes the availability of key staff during the audit, the number and significance of management letter findings and the achievement of a clear audit opinion. Shire president Tyrrell Gardiner said the significant achievement highlighted the shire’s continued excellence in financial management that reflects the “professionalism, integrity and dedication of the entire organisation”. “To be recognised as a best practice entity for a second year in a row is a big deal — it reflects our organisation’s consistent commitment to the highest standards of financial governance,” he said. “This outcome is not just a win for our finance and governance team, but for our entire shire. The bloc said it has given Shein one month to respond to its findings or face fines based on its sales in the EU countries where it says it has breached the law. “It’s now for Shein to step up, respect the rules and bring its practices fully in line with EU consumer standards,” said EU justice commissioner Michael McGrath. A Shein spokesperson said: “Our priority remains ensuring that European consumers can have a safe, reliable, and enjoyable online shopping experience.” The EU said on Monday its ongoing investigation from the EU’s consumer rights enforcer found “a broad range of practices with which consumers are confronted while shopping on Shein and that are in breach of EU law”. This included misleading information, deceptive product labels, misleading sustainability claims, and hidden contact details. It also found instances of pretending to offer better deals by showing price reductions that were not based on the actual prior prices, and fake deadlines to put costumers under pressure to buy. The EU has also asked Shein to make sure its product reviews and ratings are “not presented to consumers in a misleading manner”. “All companies reaching out to EU consumers must play by our rules. Today’s action sends a clear message: we will not shy away from holding e-commerce platforms to account, regardless of where they are based,” said McGrath. A Shein spokesperson said it has been “working constructively with national consumers authorities and the EU Commission to demonstrate our commitment to complying with EU laws and regulations, and we are continuing to engage in this process to address any concerns”. Shein backlash Shein has come under fire for its business practices before, with a January BBC report revealing some staff were working 75-hour weeks, in breach of ******** labour laws. That same month, Shein was accused of “wilful ignorance” by MPs in the *** after its lawyer repeatedly refused to answer questions about where the retailer sources its cotton. 17. Bunbury councillors reject petition to charge non-canal owners a lower rate in Pelican Point Bunbury councillors reject petition to charge non-canal owners a lower rate in Pelican Point Bunbury councillors have once again rejected a call from disgruntled residents in Pelican Point’s Grand Canal Estate, with the non-canal facing owners wanting lower rates. A petition with 57 signatures was presented to City of Bunbury councillors earlier this month, requesting the council change the Pelican Point Grand Canals specified area rate to a weighted-based rate. Those owners are calling for that rate to see non-canal owners only pay 20 per cent of a fee, while slugging canal owners the other 80 per cent to help with the canal maintenance. There is a total of 169 properties located in the estate, with 98 canal lots and 71 non-canal lots. To calculate the specified area rate, the city uses the Gross Rental Value of each property, which some Pelican Point residents consider to be unfair. A similar proposal was put to the city in January 2024, but the council ruled to continue charging all properties within the estate the specified area rate, as they believed all properties benefited from the managing and maintaining the canals “due to the higher amenity and higher property values”. The proposal was knocked back again for the same reason at last week’s council meeting on May 20 — with Councillors Michelle Steck, Karen Steele and Gabi Ghasseb only ones who supported the petition. Cr Todd Brown was not present during the vote due to declaring a financial interest in the matter. The petition spokesperson John Collins told councillors “the implementation based on the GRV leads to an unfair situation, so a canal owner gets a more substantial benefit, and gets access to the canal”. “The difference that non-canal people are paying on average, is only $39 less than the canal owners . . . yet the benefit they get is huge,” he said. Mr Collins said the GRV was an “intangible value” which did not account for the benefits which canal owners have in being able to access the waterway. He said it was “unfair” and “unreasonable” that a member of the public, who doesn’t live in the area, can use the canal without paying a rate but non-canal owners in the estate were required to. Councillor Ben Andrew spoke out against the petition. “The crux that it comes down to for me is the sign that’s on the brick wall as you head into Pelican Point — it’s a canal estate,” he said. “There is quite a benefit to having a house, regardless if that house is actually on a canal block or not, you are in a canal estate. “If we go in and fill in the canals tomorrow, all those property prices, including the non-canal blocks, will reduce.” Cr Andrews also pointed out that according to the current arrangement, the canal blocks already paid more than the non-canal blocks as they had a higher GRV. “The canal lots do pay more per house on average than what the non-canal lots pay for,” he said. 18. Jasmine Crockett’s Politically Incorrect Takedown Of Trump Borders On ‘Insane’ Jasmine Crockett’s Politically Incorrect Takedown Of Trump Borders On ‘Insane’ Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) on Sunday suggested President Donald Trump belongs in an “insane asylum” and recommended medication. (Watch the video below.) While the firebrand lawmaker’s over-the-top insults may breach political correctness, they certainly make memorable sound bites. On MSNBC’s “Alex Witt Reports,” she tore apart Trump’s West Point graduation speech in which he veered off into “trophy wives,” transgender women in sports, and the numerous criminal investigations against him. “He literally sounds like someone who has broken out of the insane asylum,” Crockett said in reacting to clips of his speech. “Like he’d just be all over the place. Like, get him some ADHD medicine, if nothing else, because I don’t know where he’s ever gonna go.” She was just getting warmed up. “I don’t think that those that have gone through West Point expected to have their commander in chief address them and start talking about trophy wives, or start talking about how he had so many investigations,” she added. “What a great reminder that you are not qualified to be the person that potentially will command us as troops to go into war. Like that is not instilling confidence whatsoever. And honestly, our troops deserve better. Our graduates deserve better. We as a country deserve better. And frankly, if we are going to ever be seen as the world leaders that we historically have been, the world deserves better.” She concluded, “It is time for Republicans to start calling him out and start questioning his mental acuity and whether or not he is equipped to serve mentally. We know when it comes down to his criminality, he is not qualified to serve, but this is just deplorable.” Crockett recently zinged Trump and his administration for hiring so many Fox News personalities. “Frankly, it is sad that we do have to go through this kind of political theater because, listen, we all know what it is — that’s why they hired everybody from Fox News because all they’re trying to do is put on for a show,” she said. “This is not ‘The Apprentice’ show.” Related… Source link #Jasmine #Crocketts #Politically #Incorrect #Takedown #Trump #Borders #Insane Pelican News View the full article at [Hidden Content]

  21. Bunbury Visitor Centre location to be reviewed after Bicentennial Square opportunities are explored Bunbury Visitor Centre location to be reviewed after Bicentennial Square opportunities are explored The future location of the Bunbury Visitor Centre is still up in the air, as the City of Bunbury “kicked” the issue down the road at Tuesday’s council meeting. The city came under fire last month, when a draft tourism plan document suggested the visitor centre be moved to the Koombana Bay Tourism Precinct. The shift, which was unpopular with some residents who believed the CBD was a more appropriate location, saw the city backtrack from that idea at the council meeting on May 20 with an updated tourism plan which was approved unanimously. The new document suggests the visitor centre should be located “in an accessible location that enhances the visitor experience”. This location is “to be reviewed once further development and opportunities at Bicentennial Square have occurred and been reported on”. Bunbury mayor Jaysen Miguel said the tourism plan was an overarching document which covered key themes, such as destination marketing, events and visitor servicing, all of which needed to be assessed and reported on. He said the city still needed to “work through” possible locations for the visitor centre. “At some stage — and we’ll obviously need some budget allocation for some of the particular things as well — we’ll be reporting back on what are we doing in this space,” Mr Miguel said. He said the work being done at Bicentennial Square would “fit back into that process”, and there were also other proposals which had been put to the council for the visitor centre, including the old train station. “We are expecting the Bicentennial Square master plan to come back in the next month that may potentially have some ideas around visitor servicing and the visitor centre . . . we’ll need to bring that into house and see how that goes as well,” he said. Until its future is decided, the visitor centre will remain at the Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre. 22. God of War Taught Me “What it really means to be a man” God of War Taught Me “What it really means to be a man” The hero of the God of War franchise, Kratos, is probably one of the most iconic characters in video game history. The character is often criticized as embodying toxic masculinity, but the actor who played the character thinks otherwise. For 2018’s God of War, a new actor, Christopher Judge, was picked for the role of Kratos. Judge recently explained that when he was offered the role back then, he was in a difficult state, but the role of Kratos changed everything. The experience of working on the game with everyone else at Santa Monica Studio completely changed the actor’s whole perspective on the world. Without a doubt, it’s hard to imagine some other actor voicing Kratos now, as Judge has set a very high standard with his work. Being the voice actor for Kratos completely changed Christopher Judge’s life During a recent cast panel for the God of War series’ 20th anniversary celebration, Christopher Judge, the voice actor of Kratos, was asked to share his experience of working with Santa Monica Studio to voice Kratos. Judge quickly highlighted that the working environment was very welcoming, something which he had not experienced in the past. Further, during the cast panel, Judge revealed that he was going through a tough phase when he was offered to voice Kratos, a role that he initially thought of declining. He explained that the entire process completely changed his life (via GamesRadar+), Every morning, it looked like everyone wanted to be there, which was something really weird for me. There was no-one complaining. People were happy to be there. It was such a collective. It really was the first place that I had ever been that was that supportive, and nurturing, and caring, and loving. And it really changed my whole perspective on the world, and what it really means to be a man. Before getting the role of Kratos, Judge received two DUIs and went into counselling. He added that he learned a lot about “empowering people, listening to people, and making them feel heard,” but he saw it in practice when he reached the God of War set. Even the previous Kratos voice actor saw the role as “therapy“ Terrence “T.C.” Carson felt that voicing Kratos was like going to therapy (Image via Santa Monica Studio) Without a doubt, Kratos is a video game icon and even has had several cameos in games outside the God of War series. Judge certainly did a great job of voicing the character, but before Judge, there was another actor who played a key role in popularising the character. In the same cast panel, Judge was joined by Terrence “T.C.” Carson, the original voice actor for Kratos, playing the role from 2005 to 2013. Just like Judge, voicing Kratos was a great experience for Carson; in fact, the role allowed him to vent out all his rage. He explained, At the time, I was very angry; there were a lot of things going on that had me in a real ****** place… Kratos allowed me to do that. He allowed me to be able to vent all of that anger, he allowed me to be able to vent all of that rage, and I think that’s the thing that people resonate with, because it was real. Carson even added that voicing Kratos “was like going to therapy.” Kratos’ actions often reflected harmful masculine stereotypes, but as the franchise progressed, the later games portrayed his growth, emotional depth, and fatherhood. 23. Trump honors fallen service members at Arlington National Cemetery Trump honors fallen service members at Arlington National Cemetery ARLINGTON, Va. — President Donald Trump honored fallen service members during a Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, calling them “great, great warriors” who were “America’s best and bravest.” “We just revere their incredible legacy.” Trump said. “We salute them in their eternal and everlasting glory. And we continue our relentless pursuit of America’s destiny as we make our nation stronger, prouder, freer, and greater than ever before.” World War II bomber ****** left 11 dead. Four are finally coming home. Trump’s speech veered briefly into the political, referring to the republic “that I am fixing after a long and hard four years.” He said that on this commemorative day, his fixes were not for today to discuss. Prior to speaking, Trump placed a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a somber tradition for U.S. presidents. The president paused after placing the wreath, then stepped back and saluted during the playing of taps. Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth joined him. Trump told the story of Senior Chief Petty Officer Shannon Kent, killed along with three other Americans by a suicide bomber in 2019 in Syria, leaving behind her husband, 3-year-old son and 18-month-old son. She was on her fifth combat deployment, he said, embedded with a team hunting Islamic State group militants in Syria, serving as linguist, translator and cryptology technician working alongside special forces. “She was among the first women ever to do it, and she did it better than anyone,” he said. The crowd also heard of Senior Master Sgt. Elroy Harworth, who went down in enemy territory during the Vietnam War, dying while his wife was seven months pregnant. His son followed his father’s path and has been in the Army for 20 years. Vance said the lesson of these stories and all the gravestones is: “We must be cautious in sending our people to war.” The president began the day with a decidedly different tone. In a social media message in all capital letters, Trump ranted at former President Joe Biden, calling him the “*****” who spent the last four years trying to destroy the country with radical leftism and who, he said, left behind an open border. Trump also went after federal judges who have blocked efforts to enact his mass deportation agenda, calling them “monsters who want our country to go to hell.” That was after he posted a separate message proclaiming “HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!” Wishing people a happy Memorial Day is regarded as verboten because the day is considered a solemn day to honor soldiers killed in service. 24. Doom: The Dark Ages Review (PC) Doom: The Dark Ages Review (PC) Doom was a new experience for me. I would consider myself a video game connoisseur. But the Doom franchise has eluded me to this point — a Doom noob for all intents and purposes. But here comes Doom: The Dark Ages. What an experience it is. Visceral combat, aggressive enemies, and absolute slaughter for the entire 14–16-hour experience. From top to bottom, Doom: The Dark Ages is a high-quality first-person shooter made by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is a prequel to the high-flying and action-packed Doom Eternal and Doom (2016). Being the Doom Slayer was a trip for me, with his super-fast sprinting and a weapon wheel complete with enough options to make even James Bond second guess himself. I have to say I really enjoyed my time with Doom: The Dark Ages. So much so that I am going back through currently and trying to finish up all collectibles in an attempt to 100% the game, which is something I never do. But without further ado, let’s get into the details of Doom: The Dark Ages. Stand and Fight id Software has innovated on their longtime great idTech engine once again. The game looks absolutely fantastic. When the game booted up for the first time I was amazed by the detail and the environment that I was dropped into. I liked the premise of a medieval war against Hell. Although, it was a bit humorous to me that spaceships and futuristic weaponry still existed. The forces of Hell come in hot as the game gives a couple cutscenes and then drops players right into what is a semi-open world with plenty of hordes to fight and demons to send back to the grave. The game drip feeds tutorials to you as you go through the first few chapters, giving players new techniques as they move along. Players will quickly have the ability to shield bash and throw their shield at enemies. These are two of my favorite moves in the game, as I used them consistently throughout my playthrough. In the early going, weapons are introduced at a steady rate. Players start with the combat shotgun and work their way through a wide variety of weapons, proving useful against different types of foes. I felt each new weapon was unique in its shooting style and what abilities it would allow my slayer to benefit from. There I am in the middle of a medieval Hellscape, choosing whether to throw my shield at some unsuspecting minions or shoot them with one of my weapons from my quickly growing weapon wheel, I felt on top of the world. The feeling of being the Doom Slayer was a great feeling. The speed in movement the game gives is impressively fast paced, and I was surprised to see the game gives customization options for difficulty and game speed. I feel this is a nice option for players and gives an excellent amount of freedom to those who want to dive into their difficulty settings and play the game how they want to play it. Each chapter is a new map in the game, and there are various sections where Doom Slayer will get in a huge mech or ride a dragon around. These sections are the weakest parts of the game by far. I still enjoyed these chapters, and I respect the developers for changing up the formula. These chapters are also fairly short and move quickly, and there is a story significance to the sections. But I wanted to note that these parts of the game, although sparse, are imperfect and felt like they needed a bit more. Combat Nearly this entire game is combat. But I wanted to cover a little bit more in depth about some of the features here. As I touched on in the previous section, id Software gives players a weapon wheel with a healthy set of options to choose from for the Doom Slayer’s killing machines. Each of these weapons have strengths and weaknesses that they present. Depending on the enemy that the player is fighting, a certain weapon might be more well-suited to achieving victory. For example, blue shielded enemies can be dealt with fairly quickly when using a plasma-based weapon such as the Accelerator or the Cycler. Having a multitude of options for weapons doesn’t mean that you should choose one and just use that the whole time. I found myself cycling through all the weapons fairly frequently, and also quite often switching them up while in the heat of battle. The Doom Slayer’s movement might have been what impressed me the most in the early stages of the game. Being new to Doom, I was not used to the quick nature of the sprinting in these games. It took some getting used to, but it wasn’t long before I became accustomed to the swift movements. Moving this fast made the whole game open up and made jumping feel different than most other games. Jumping felt like flying in certain circumstances. Climbing felt speedier as well. Not to mention that the game is so smooth, and I think players will notice this pretty quickly into their experience. The shield makes or breaks the gameplay from a combat standpoint. Players that learn to use their shield and use it well, will find their combat scenarios are won more often than not. The shield in this game is not so much a tool, as it is more a part of the Slayer as a whole. Players will find themselves using their shield quite often if they want to be successful both inside and outside of combat. There is more usage out of the shield than one would anticipate going into this, even map traversal involves the need for the shield. Combat can be as difficult or as easy as players want it to be. I personally would recommend adding a little bit of challenge to the game to make success feel like an accomplishment. Enemies in this game vary on how difficult they are. Some are tanky, some are large and hit hard, some are small and really don’t do anything as far as damage to the Slayer. So, a wide variety of fights are sure to be found, with some being more burdensome than others. The scenarios players find themselves in will vary and certain enemy types are aggressive, which will make encounters more difficult if you allow those enemies to live longer than you should. I am sure will be slight learning curve for certain players out there, but most Doom pros will no doubt have it down in no time. Summary Doom: The Dark Ages is a complete experience from top to bottom. Top notch combat that comes from a dev team that has been doing FPS for a long time. A story that moves the plot along in a meaningful way and keeps intrigue, at least enough to get to the next fighting sequence. Quality cutscenes give players the full depth of the story as it happens and adds to the overall production value of the game. A chapter here and there where the game seems to stumble a bit during the mech and dragon sequences, but again, these parts do change up the formula a bit and I can appreciate what they were trying to do here. The vast majority of the game is fighting, which I understand is how Doom should be. And the fighting in this game is really superb. It really kept me coming back for more. There was never a point where I felt tired or that I wished the game would be done already. I simply wanted more Doom. The medieval setting was nice for a fantasy fan like me. I thought the fantasy setting mixed with futuristic vibes was an interesting blend. My final answer on this is a superb solid first-person shooter game. One that has introduced me to the Doom franchise and left me wanting more. I have now determined that later this year, I will go back and play Eternal and the Doom (2016) because now I can say that I loved what I got from this. I also loved this one so much, that I am going back through and getting that 100% on it right now. This game is downright fun, and I feel more developers should aim for this level for their own games. Doom: The Dark Ages is out now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S via Game Pass Ultimate. Matt Marston Contributor Matt has been playing video games since he was old enough to hold a controller. Starting with the Nintendo, playing any game his parents would allow him to play. Now many years later, he enjoys playing a wide variety of games and also enjoys listening to gaming podcasts and hearing other people’s opinions on all kinds of gaming topics. Some of his favorite franchises are Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, Halo, and Diablo. 25. Knoxville family falls victim to ‘self-showing’ scam after finding a rental on Facebook Marketplace — now they’re out $1,800 and have nowhere to live Knoxville family falls victim to ‘self-showing’ scam after finding a rental on Facebook Marketplace — now they’re out $1,800 and have nowhere to live When Alex Todd, his sister-in-law Natalie Ryffel, and their spouses needed a home to rent in Knoxville, Tennessee, they found a listing on Facebook Marketplace that was within their budget. They contacted the landlord and asked for a showing, but they were told it was a self-viewing home — meaning the landlord didn’t meet Todd and Ryffel at the property to show them around. Don’t miss Rather, the landlord sent them the lockbox code for the property and told them to let themselves in and see if the home met their needs. Once Todd and Ryffel confirmed they wanted the home and the move-in fees had been paid, the landlord once again sent them the lockbox code so they could move in. But it turned out to be a scam. Todd and Ryffel are out $1,800, in addition to not having a place to live. “Nobody should have to go through this,” said Ryffel to WATE 6 News. Too good to be true When Todd and Ryffel found a home on Facebook Marketplace, they didn’t spot any red flags throughout the process of seeing the home and moving in, they told WATE. It was only once they’d moved in that they learned they’d been victimized. The landlord, Buh-laal Mustafa Hatim, spoke with Todd by phone and text message once he responded to the Facebook listing. Hatim allegedly wanted $850 a month for rent and sent Todd a contract that looked official. “Every time I would talk to him and we would send money to him, he would shortly after send receipts via email,” Todd said, adding he didn’t think anything was amiss. “He wanted payment through Chime. I figured, okay, he may not have an actual bank account.” Todd and Ryffel paid Hatim $1,800 — $850 for rent, $850 for a security deposit, and a $100 application fee. “We paid him what we were supposed to pay him,” Ryffel told WATE. “We moved in the day before Easter.” But a few days later, they received a notice from the realty company in charge of the property: “You are illegally residing at this property without the consent of the owner. You are instructed to vacate the property immediately.” Now, the Todd and Ryffel families don’t have anywhere to go. And, as WATE discovered, the rental property was listed on another website for $1,350 a month, not $850. As a gesture of goodwill, the actual realty company is giving Todd and Ryffel a free week-long stay at Woodspring Suites, an extended stay hotel. They plan to use that time to find a new rental. But the chances of them getting their $1,800 back are slim. “You have people who work hard for that money, only for it to be gone,” Ryffel said. Read more: This is how American car dealers use the ‘4-square method’ to make big profits off you — and how you can ensure you pay a fair price for all your vehicle costs What is a self-showing scam? In 2024, the FBI received 9,359 complaints related to real estate fraud, and total losses for those types of scams totaled more than $173 million. That number isn’t broken down by specific scam type, so it’s hard to know how many of those fraud reports stemmed from rental scams versus something else related to real estate. However, scammers are getting better and better at taking people’s money. So it’s important to know how to spot a rental scam so you can avoid it. In a self-viewing rental scam, fraudsters find legitimate property listings on rental sites. Then they pretend to be working for the realty company in charge of renting the house out. They gain access to the lockbox by signing up for an account. Then, they give prospective tenants access to the lockbox so they can do a self-guided tour, and then take their money once the tenant decides to move forward with the rental. That’s why you should be very wary of any rental where a landlord or property manager won’t meet you in person. What to look for When you come across a listing, double-check to see if it appears on other sites. Zillow highlights some other red flags for renters to be mindful of: Money first: The property manager asks for the money up front, even before seeing the house. Too good to be true: If a one-bedroom goes for $1,500 a month in your area, and you see one listed for $900, it’s highly suspicious. Untraceable payments: If you’re being asked to send payments through an unconventional means that are untraceable, such as cash, crypto or gift cards, then move on. In Todd and Ryffel’s case, they might have protected themselves by looking for a listing on other websites. Of course, a self-showing rental may be legitimate, but your best bet is to cross-reference the “for rent” sign and to call the available number posted so you can speak to the realty company in charge. Even then, it’s not unreasonable to ask someone to meet you at the property, with their ID, so you can feel safe.
