  2. Expedition 33 Weapons Might Have Been Inspired by Bleach Expedition 33 Weapons Might Have Been Inspired by Bleach Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 developers have included various easter eggs that only true explorers can discover. There are some meme references here and there, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. One of them seems like a Bleach reference, as the game has similar-looking weapons from the Japanese anime/manga. However, players have to progress the game a bit to gain access to them, to be precise, until Act 2. Additionally, the weapons are pretty strong, just like in the anime. If you want to feel formidable like Ichigo and Rukia, and are a fan of Bleach, these weapons are a must-have. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has a near-perfect reference to Bleach There is so much hidden in the world of Clair Obscur! | Image Credit: Sandfall Interactive If you have been paying attention to details in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you’ll find many cool references. If you’re a fan of pop culture, you can even find Shrek’s porta-potty and “This is fine” meme in the game. So it isn’t surprising if more pop culture references pop out of nowhere. However, not every easter egg is based on hit franchises, some are just there as a token of love. For instance, you can find the dev team picture at the Manor Gate in Gestral Village. Additionally, the character Monoco is named after Sandfall Interactive’s office dog. Cool little detail, right? Coming back to the topic at hand, one user named TheastRanga from Reddit showcased a Bleach reference in COE33. Developers are probably big fans of the anime as well, as Ichigo’s Zanpakto, Zangetsu, is there for Verso. There is also Rukia’s Sode no Shirayuki for Maelle. But of course, these weapons aren’t named the same in Expedition 33 due to copyright issues. Still, this is a fun easter egg that is actually useful, instead of being a gag. The weapon for Verso is called Confuso, which is inspired by Ichigo’s oversized sword. For Maelle, the sword is called Melarum, which looks exactly like Rukia’s Katana. Sadly, Melarum doesn’t have an ice affinity… Once fans found out about the Bleach reference, many got excited and ready to acquire it. Who wouldn’t, if they are a fan of both franchises? Some fans have taken the chance to make a Bankai joke, as it’s a Bleach reference. All these references are making gamers interested in purchasing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, if they haven’t already. Comment byu/ThaLastRanga from discussion inbleach Comment byu/ThaLastRanga from discussion inbleach These easter eggs are not a product of collaboration, but rather a tribute to their inspirations. For instance, the story progression for the game is heavily inspired by the book, La Horde du Contrevent, written by Alain Damasio. There might be more references, but it’s hard to find, since it’s a huge game. Where can players find these weapons based on Bleach? Both these weapons can be found after finishing Act 1 of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which introduces Verso as a playable character. Moreover, a major plot twist happens during this time. Players who wish to use this article as a reference to get these Bleach-inspired weapons, please know there will be spoilers ahead. Spoiler Alert !!! You’re entering spoiler territory, please be cautious about it. Confuso is available to Verso only, as Gustave won’t be a playable character after Act 1. The weapon can be found in the Visages at the Joyful Vale section. However, players may have to defeat a Contorsionniste to get the oversized weapons in their hands. Good things don’t come for free, friends. Getting Melarum is tougher as players need to beat Renior during a boss fight at Old Lumiere. So, this weapon is unmissable, unlike Confuso. But again, the stakes are higher as Renior is one of the hardest bosses. Fans have to go through a test by fire to get an iconic weapon like that. Have you acquired the weapons referencing Bleach in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? Did you find it by accident, or did you take some external help? Go on, tell your story in the comments below. 7. ASEAN nations seek meeting with Trump over US tariffs ASEAN nations seek meeting with Trump over US tariffs Southeast Asian nations will forge a common front to face challenges including economic headwinds from US tariffs and a four-year civil war in Myanmar. Opening an annual summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Monday, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he was seeking a unified bloc meeting with US President Donald Trump to discuss the tariffs. Officials are hopeful it could happen later this year. Malaysia is the current chair of ASEAN. “For ASEAN, our peace, stability and prosperity have often depended on an open, inclusive, rules-based international order … These foundations are now being dismantled under the force of arbitrary action,” Anwar said. ASEAN has formed a taskforce to co-ordinate a response to the US tariffs in parallel with bilateral negotiations by some member countries, Anwar said. ASEAN members include ******* economies such as Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, as well as ones like Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. The region relies on exports to the US and is hurt by the Trump administration’s tariffs, which range from 10 per cent for Singapore to as high as 49 per cent for Cambodia. Trump announced a 90-day pause on tariffs in April for most of the world, and this month struck a similar deal with key rival China, easing trade war tensions. Anwar said an ASEAN leaders’ meeting on Tuesday with ******** Premier Li Qiang and the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) — the first such tripartite meeting — would spur new co-operation that could help insulate ASEAN’s economy. The GCC comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The bloc later Monday will launch a new 20-year vision to deepen their economic and social integration, Anwar said. Anwar also said Malaysia has managed to “move the needle forward” in efforts to resolve the Myanmar crisis after forming an informal advisory group headed by former Thai leader Thaksin Shinawatra. Officials said the current emphasis on aid delivery following a March earthquake that killed 3700 people could eventually pave the way for peace talks. But critics accuse the army of violating a self-proclaimed ceasefire with dozens of airstrikes, with aid not freely allowed into areas not under the army’s control. The Myanmar war, which has killed thousands and displaced millions, is a challenge to ASEAN since refugees have fled across borders to neighbouring nations. 10. Fallout 5 Won’t Hit Hard If Todd Howard Doesn’t Bring the Weirdest New Vegas Weapon Into the Game Fallout 5 Won’t Hit Hard If Todd Howard Doesn’t Bring the Weirdest New Vegas Weapon Into the Game The Fallout franchise has defined the RPG genre, and Fallout 5 is likely to continue that tradition. There’s going to be even more eyes on this particular entry, as Prime Video’s Fallout show has brought a newer generation of fans to the post-apocalyptic universe. Will Fallout 5 be a guaranteed success? Considering Bethesda’s recent failures and lack of innovation, no one can say for sure. However, Todd Howard and his team can make a generational hit only if they bring one of the weirdest weapons from the critically acclaimed Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout 5 won’t be complete without this ridiculous weapon If you’re looking to survive against the threats of the nuclear Wasteland, it’s crucial to equip the right weapons and armor. The Fallout series has offered players a number of unique firearm options that match different playstyles and roles. Weapons are really the cornerstone of this post-apocalyptic experience. However, there’s one bizarre weapon in the Fallout franchise that’ll make you question the sanity of developers: the K9000 Cyberdog Gun. Obsidian Entertainment in Fallout: New Vegas presented players with this unique weapon, which integrates a rapid-fire machine gun with a canine brain. That’s right, it’s a weapon that blends man’s best friend with massacring. The barking of a real Cyberdog will accompany every shot you fire with this weapon. The K9000 Cyberdog Gun might be adorable for some, but creepy for others. It has small ears and will growl at enemies if they dare to approach you. There’s even a slight aim assist by the good little boy inside this weapon. K9000 Cyberdog deserves a place in the world of Fallout 5. (Image via Bethesda Game Studios) The K9000 Cyberdog perfectly captures the spirit of Fallout games, and it’s everything that fans love about the series. Let’s hope Howard and his team can once again bring this mix of canine companionship and chaos to Fallout 5. Fans across social media channels are begging to see this weapon make a return, and it would be a shame if such an interesting weapon never returns. A new update on Fallout 5‘s release is disappointing Fallout 5 isn’t Todd Howard’s current focus. (Image via Bethesda Game Studios) We all know that Bethesda is currently focusing on the development of The Elder Scrolls 6. It’s reported that the RPG will be released sometime between 2026 -2028. This means that the studio isn’t focusing on Fallout 5 as of now. If the post-apocalyptic game is in pre-production, it’s likely far away from hitting the shelves. However, reputable Xbox insider Colt Eastwood has given more information on the release date for Fallout 5. According to him, the game is still five to six years away. The earliest it can drop will be in 2030 or 2031. This timeframe can be pushed back if Elder Scrolls 6 suffers from development issues, which isn’t that uncommon in modern game development. Eastwood states that Bethesda is open to the idea of giving the keys to the Fallout franchise to another studio, but in a limited way. There’s supposed to be a Fallout 4 spin-off in the works by Obsidian Entertainment, but Bethesda isn’t ready to give the same treatment to the core series. With that said, would you like to see any other weird weapon from the post-apocalyptic series added to Fallout 5? Let us know in the comments below. 11. Fake discounts on Shein ‘breach law’, EU says Fake discounts on Shein ‘breach law’, EU says Fake discounts, pressure selling, and other practices on ******** fast-fashion website Shein breach the law, the European Union (EU) has said. The bloc said it has given Shein one month to respond to its findings or face fines based on its sales in the EU countries where it says it has breached the law. “It’s now for Shein to step up, respect the rules and bring its practices fully in line with EU consumer standards,” said EU justice commissioner Michael McGrath. A Shein spokesperson said: “Our priority remains ensuring that European consumers can have a safe, reliable, and enjoyable online shopping experience.” The EU said on Monday its ongoing investigation from the EU’s consumer rights enforcer found “a broad range of practices with which consumers are confronted while shopping on Shein and that are in breach of EU law”. This included misleading information, deceptive product labels, misleading sustainability claims, and hidden contact details. It also found instances of pretending to offer better deals by showing price reductions that were not based on the actual prior prices, and fake deadlines to put costumers under pressure to buy. The EU has also asked Shein to make sure its product reviews and ratings are “not presented to consumers in a misleading manner”. “All companies reaching out to EU consumers must play by our rules. Today’s action sends a clear message: we will not shy away from holding e-commerce platforms to account, regardless of where they are based,” said McGrath. A Shein spokesperson said it has been “working constructively with national consumers authorities and the EU Commission to demonstrate our commitment to complying with EU laws and regulations, and we are continuing to engage in this process to address any concerns”. Shein has come under fire for its business practices before, with a January BBC report revealing some staff were working 75-hour weeks, in breach of ******** labour laws. That same month, Shein was accused of “wilful ignorance” by MPs in the *** after its lawyer repeatedly refused to answer questions about where the retailer sources its cotton. In response to the BBC investigation into worker conditions, Shein said it is “committed to ensuring the fair and dignified treatment of all workers within our supply chain”, and that it is investing tens of millions of dollars in strengthening governance and compliance. “We strive to set the highest standards for pay and we require that all supply chain partners adhere to our code of conduct,” it said. 13. Raidzone? Pvp-Focused Spinoff With Fast-Paced Combat Explained Raidzone? Pvp-Focused Spinoff With Fast-Paced Combat Explained Once Human: RaidZone is Starry Studio’s latest experiment in bringing a new style of survival to its hit game. Introduced in the 1.6.1 update and launched in Early Access on May 22, 2025, RaidZone strips away the cooperative PvE comforts of the game to put us into a hardcore PvP survival environment. But what exactly is RaidZone, and how does it reshape Once Human’s PvP mechanics? This new gamemode will have unique progression rules and new systems that will change everything you know about the game. It’s survival of the fittest now. Here’s everything you need to know about Once Human: RaidZone. Once Human: RaidZone Overview and Core Gameplay Features Once Human: RaidZone is a standalone spinoff of the game that takes the game’s PvP mechanics into a full-scale survival mode. Set in a lawless open world, RaidZone’s primary focus is ruthless player-versus-player combat, with the survival part of the game still intact. So you still have resource gathering, crafting, and base building. The Early Access for the new PvE Scenario Endless Dream and PvP spin-off Once Human: RaidZone is now open! The wait is over! Jump in now! Follow @OHRAIDZONE for all the latest RaidZone updates and exclusive content! Download Mobile & PC Version Now:… pic.twitter.com/E0XClLLuay — Once Human (@OnceHuman_) May 22, 2025 Unlike the main game, though, RaidZone introduces us to the Law of the Jungle system, where every other player, aside from your squadmates, is fair game for attacks and plundering. In RaidZone, you begin from scratch with no access to equipment, blueprints, or mods from other game modes. As is the norm with these kinds of modes, survival depends on your ability to scavenge and construct defenses while constantly fending off enemy raids. Death is punishing. Whenever you die, you drop most of the gear in your inventory. There’s no vehicle ownership either; any player can operate abandoned or field-repaired vehicles. The loot economy also follows strict respawn timers: 20 minutes for low-tier containers, 1 hour for mid-tier, and 6 hours for high-tier rewards. This means that you’ll have to compete for every scrap. The combat in RaidZone is also affected by your personal Deviation companion. Ursula becomes stronger as you gather more Realm Fragments and can eventually summon the Manibus, an area-of-effect attack that deals massive damage. How RaidZone Changes the Once Human PvP Experience Some players will probably go into house design in this mode. | Image Credit: Starry Studio While PvP was always an aspect of Once Human, RaidZone makes it an even ******* part of the game. Gone are shared PvE goals, safe zones, or the exploration missions you’re familiar with. Every player, structure, and piece of loot is fair game. So don’t trust anyone and treat survival above everything else. One big thing that you need to know is that nothing carries over from the main game. You won’t have your equipment, blueprints, Deviations, or mods. You will have to unlock everything again in RaidZone. And of course, your progress in RaidZone doesn’t carry over to other game modes. This makes it so that everyone has an equal chance. In essence, RaidZone functions as Once Human’s own version of the hardcore PvP modes we see in games like Rust or Escape from Tarkov, but with its own spin on it. RaidZone’s official launch is scheduled for July 2025, with the ongoing Early Access to fix any broken mechanics and imbalanced numbers. Starry Studio has noted that the version released on May 22 is near-final, and it has already gone through extensive internal testing. So we can expect it to be at its peak form when it finally comes out. 14. FBI deputy director Dan Bongino says Biden-era investigations being reexamined FBI deputy director Dan Bongino says Biden-era investigations being reexamined FBI deputy director Dan Bongino announced early Monday that three high-profile cases are being reexamined: The investigations into the 2021 D.C. pipe bombings, ******** found in the White House in 2023 and the 2022 leak of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision ending the federal right to an abortion. File: Host Dan Bongino as US Open winner Gary Woodland visits “FOX & Friends” at Fox News Channel Studios on June 18, 2019 in New York City. Roy Rochlin / Getty Images “Shortly after swearing in, the Director and I evaluated a number of cases of potential public corruption that, understandably, have garnered public interest,” Bongino said in a statement. “We made the decision to either re-open, or push additional resources and investigative attention, to these cases.” Bongino said he has requested weekly updates on these cases, and “we are making progress.” The identity of the person who planted two pipe bombs on Capitol Hill the night before the Jan. 6, 2021, riot, remains a mystery over four years later. Occurring in the final days of the first Trump administration, the incident was mainly investigated by the FBI during the Biden administration, under Christopher Wray, who was FBI director from 2017 through January 2025, and resigned shortly before President Trump took office. Mr. Trump tapped allies Kash Patel as FBI director and Bongino as his deputy. The earliest case that Bongino announced was being reexamined occurred when pipe bombs were discovered by a passerby around 1 p.m. Jan. 6, 2021, at the Democratic National Committee headquarters and near the Republican National Committee headquarters as Mr. Trump’s supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to stop Congress from certifying the 2020 election results. Both buildings are near the Capitol. Investigators believe both pipe bombs were left between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 5. Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who was the vice president-elect at the time, was evacuated from the Democratic National Committee headquarters when the devices were recovered. No suspect has ever publicly been named, although earlier this year, investigators released security camera video showing the suspect sitting on a park bench, reaching into his backpack and planting a pipe bomb outside the DNC. According to a report obtained by CBS News in March 2021, the bombs contained only one method of detonation — a 60-minute kitchen timer. The devices did not go off, and when and whether they were meant to explode remains unclear. But the FBI said its analysis concluded the pipe bombs were viable and posed a danger to the public. Another case Bongino plans to reexamine is the 2022 leak of the Supreme Court’s draft opinion in the Dobbs case, which sought to overturn the 1973 Roe decision that made abortion legal nationwide. A draft opinion of a Supreme Court had never before been leaked, and at the time, Chief Justice John Roberts denounced the leak as a “betrayal” and “a singular and egregious betrayal of trust” that would be fully investigated. An eight-month investigation was conducted by the marshal of the Supreme Court, who consulted with former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, but investigators were unable to find the leaker. In a 20-page report released with a Supreme Court statement saying the leaker could not be identified, Marshal of the Supreme Court Gail Curley said it is “unlikely” the leak stemmed from a hack of the court’s IT systems by a person outside the court. But after examining the Supreme Court’s computer devices, networks, printers and available call and text logs, investigators found “no forensic evidence indicating who disclosed the draft opinion.” The final case cited by Bongino was the discovery of ******** at the White House on July 2, 2023. The Secret Service closed the investigation after 11 days, saying it had compiled a list of “several hundred” people who may have accessed the area where the substance was discovered. But no fingerprints could be found on the ********’s packaging and there was “insufficient DNA” for “investigative comparisons,” the Secret Service said at the time. 15. Egyptian archaeologists discover three tombs in Luxor Egyptian archaeologists discover three tombs in Luxor CAIRO (AP) — Egypt unveiled three new tombs of prominent statesman in the Dra Abu al-Naga necropolis in Luxor, officials said Monday. Egyptian archaeologists have discovered tombs dating back to the New Kingdom ******* (1550–1070 B.C.) and identified the names and titles of their owners through inscriptions found within, according to a statement by the tourism and antiquities ministry. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said in the statement that further study of other tombs’ inscriptions is needed to gain a deeper understanding of the tombs’ owners. The ministry released pictures of items discovered in the tombs, including artifacts and statues. The discovery comes in the lead-up to the highly anticipated full opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is expected this summer, though a final official date is yet to be confirmed. The museum will showcase more than 100,000 artifacts from Egypt’s rich ancient heritage. One of the tombs discovered in Luxor on Monday belonged to Amum-em-Ipet, from the Ramesside *******, who worked in the estate of Amun. His tomb was mostly destroyed and what remained were depictions of the ******** furniture carriers and a banquet. Amum-em-Ipet’s tomb begins with a small courtyard leading to an entrance and then a square hall ending with a niche, whose western wall was destroyed. The other tombs date back to the 18th Dynasty and include one belonging to a man named Baki, who served as a supervisor of the grain silo. Another tomb contains the burial of an individual named “S,” who held multiple roles — he was a supervisor at the Temple of Amun in the oasis, a writer and the mayor of the northern oases. Baki’s tomb has a courtyard leading to the main entrance of the tomb as well as a long corridor-like courtyard. It also has a transverse hall leading to another longitudinal hall that leads up to an unfinished chamber that contains a burial well. Meanwhile, the other tomb that belongs to “S” has a small courtyard with a well, the tomb’s main entrance, and a transverse hall that leads to an incomplete longitudinal hall. Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi described the discovery as a significant scientific and archaeological achievement, noting that it is one of the areas poised to greatly boost cultural tourism and attract more visitors with an interest in Egypt’s rich heritage. In January, Egypt made several discoveries near the famed city of Luxor, including ancient rock-cut tombs and burial shafts dating back 3,600 years. They were unearthed at the causeway of Queen Hatshepsut’s funerary temple at Deir al-Bahri on the Nile’s West Bank. Late last year, Egyptian and American archaeologists excavated an ancient tomb with 11 sealed burials near Luxor. The tomb, which dates to the Middle Kingdom, was found in the South Asasif necropolis, next to the Temple of Hatshepsut. 17. Savala stakes claim to be Roosters No.7 amid DCE chase Savala stakes claim to be Roosters No.7 amid DCE chase Hugo Savala has openly declared he wants to be Trent Robinson’s long-term halfback as his dazzling start to life in the NRL raised fresh questions over the Sydney Roosters’ pursuit of Daly Cherry-Evans. Savala revealed after a standout performance in Saturday’s win over Cronulla how the advice of Sydney Swans premiership winner Nick Davis and league great Cooper Cronk had helped him find his groove just nine games into his NRL career. The 23-year-old’s rapid rise led NRL Immortal Andrew Johns to question why the Roosters would bother pursuing Manly captain Cherry-Evans, who will be 37 by the time the 2026 NRL season comes around. Johns argued on the Nine Network on Sunday that Savala and Sandon Smith – along with Sam Walker, who is due to return from knee surgery in the next month – were all bona fide NRL playmakers. Savala’s agent has previously declared he would explore a loan deal for his client if Cherry-Evans lands at Bondi next season. The homegrown talent’s large frame – Savala is 193cm tall – would lead many to suggest he could retrain as a utility back but he claims he is a halfback through and through. Diplomatically dancing around his club’s pursuit of Cherry-Evans, Savala said: “I’ve always been a halfback since growing up. “When I was 19, I probably started growing a lot taller. I’d always been a smaller sort of player which is why I was a halfback, but now I’ve grown taller, I’ve got that same skillset. “I love the Roosters, I want to stay here, I’m a halfback. 18. The ‘Delta Force’ Campaign Is Inspired by This $173 Million Ridley Scott Movie The ‘Delta Force’ Campaign Is Inspired by This $173 Million Ridley Scott Movie Team *****’s revival of Delta Force has been nothing short of extraordinary as it has made its triumphant return this year, introducing a new generation of gamers to the iconic series. Built entirely on Unreal Engine 5, both the multiplayer and the campaign are free-to-play with optional microtransactions. The emotionally charged ****** Hawk Down campaign is directly inspired by the titular Academy Award-nominated movie directed by the legendary Ridley Scott. And more than two decades later, the Battle of Mogadishu has been brought to life in an interactive form by Team ***** through Delta Force. Delta Force’s campaign is inspired by Ridley Scott’s ****** Hawk Down (2001) The Delta Force ****** Hawk Down campaign is inspired by Ridley Scott’s 2001 cinematic depiction of the Battle of Mogadishu, ****** Hawk Down. The movie follows a crew of U.S. soldiers going into Somalia to bring aid and food to the people there. But two of the helicopters that were being used to lower the soldiers onto the ground were shot down by Somali forces out of the blue, and the mission quickly turned into a prolonged battle of life and death, hence the name ****** Hawk Down. Mark Bowden’s 1999 book, ****** Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War, served as an inspiration for the acclaimed movie. It cost Ridley Scott $173 million to make the movie, and when you look at the movie’s ensemble, featuring A-listers like Tom Hardy, Ewan McGregor, Jason Isaacs, Josh Hartnett, and more, it entirely makes sense. Delta Force’s ****** Hawk Down campaign takes massive inspiration from the movie, and it puts you into the shoes of an elite Delta Force operator partaking in the 1993 military operation. Additionally, the game also uses some of Scott’s footage, but the campaign isn’t a shot-by-shot remake of the 2001 movie, and it’s more of a faithful reboot or retelling of the movie and the original 2003 title, Delta Force: ****** Hawk Down. While the movie brilliantly stands on its own, the 2025 campaign just adds an extra layer of immersion like never before. The Unreal Engine 5 depiction of the harrowing operation is expertly crafted, and it’s also not an easy campaign to get through, further adding a hint of realism to it. After 24 years, the harrowing operation told brilliantly by Ridley Scott through ****** Hawk Down is brought back in all its brutal nature, thanks to Team *****. Not watching the movie is grounds for treason if you’re a fan of Delta Force, so give it a watch and experience the Battle of Mogadishu through a cinematic lens before you get to step into the skirmish yourself in the ****** Hawk Down campaign. Is Delta Force the new Call of Duty killer? Sweeping the FPS market with ease! | Image Credit: Team ***** With all the buzz surrounding Delta Force, you might be thinking that it’s the new Call of Duty killer, and you’re correct. Well, at least partially correct. Since Delta Force isn’t available on consoles yet, it’s hard to determine how well the game will fare against established giants like Call of Duty and Battlefield. On the other hand, Delta Force is currently dominating the competitive gaming FPS market, earning a whopping 100 million dollars in mobile revenue, according to PocketGamer. Challenging industry giants the likes of Call of Duty, Team *****’s Delta Force has already proven to be a massive success, both financially and player-wise. Only time will tell whether they can keep up this success and not succumb to their competitors. Who knows, maybe Delta Force will truly become the Call of Duty killer once it’s on console as well. So, what do you think about the Delta Force’s ****** Hawk Down campaign taking inspiration from the 2001 movie? Have you watched the movie, or do you prefer to experience it firsthand within the game itself? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below. The OmniBook 5 Flip has a 14-inch 2K touchscreen, and can flip (hence the name!) into a tablet orientation, perfect for presenting or even kicking back to watch some videos after a long day at work or school. 20. Democrats ditch woke jargon to win back Trump voters Democrats ditch woke jargon to win back Trump voters Democrats are ditching woke jargon to win back voters who defected to the right and elected Donald Trump. Prominent party figures warned that said phrases beloved by its activist base like “Latinx” had isolated ordinary voters and fuelled shattering losses in the last year’s elections. They also fear the party’s emphasis on issues such as pronouns exhausted the electorate. Kamala Harris, who lost the 2024 presidential election to Mr Trump, was criticised during her brief campaign for nonsensical “word salad” responses she gave during interviews. “Some words are just too Ivy League-tested terms,” Ruben Gallego, the Arizona senator, told The Washington Post. “I’m going to p— some people off by saying this, but ‘social equity’ – why do we say that? Why don’t we say, ‘We want you to have an even chance’?” Ruben Gallego at a Democrat rally in Arizona in August – AP Mr Gallego, who defeated Kari Lake, a candidate endorsed by Mr Trump, in his senate race, said he had once been instructed to describe his background as “economically disadvantaged” rather than “poor”. “Not every person we meet is going to have the latest update on what the proper terms are,” he continued. “It doesn’t make them sexist or homophobic or racist. Maybe they are a little outdated, but they have a good heart.” He said the term “Latinx”, which avoids gendering Latinos or Latinas, is “stupid” and claimed that few Hispanics actually use it. Joe Biden, the former US president, has previously claimed it was “hard to get Latinx vaccinated” because they were scared of being deported. Policy papers produced by Mr Biden’s administration also refer to “justice-involved populations” rather than prisoners, and “previously-incarcerated individuals” instead of ex-convicts. Andy Beshear, the Kentucky governor who won two terms in the red-leaning state, said Democrats had fallen into using phrases like “substance abuse disorder” instead of addiction. “I believe that over time, and probably for well-meaning reasons, Democrats have begun to speak like professors and started using advocacy-speak that was meant to reduce stigma, but also removed the meaning and emotion behind words,” he said. “It makes Democrats or candidates using this speech sound like they’re not normal… It sounds simple, but what the Democratic Party needs to do is be normal and sound normal.” “Democrats trip over themselves in an attempt to say exactly the right thing,” said Allison Prasch, an associate professor of rhetoric, politics and culture at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. “Republicans maybe aren’t so concerned about saying exactly the right thing, so it may appear more authentic to some voters.” Elissa Slotkin, the Michigan senator, said she had once won over a group of sceptical Teamster union members by calling them “motherf—ers”. “They love it…. That is a different way to enter the room,” she said. She has previously criticised progressive politicians, like Vermont senator Bernie Sanders, for railing against the “oligarchy”, claiming the term means little to ordinary voters. In March, Pennsylvania senator John Fetterman urged his party to talk “like regular people”, adding: “Most people are not sure what an oligarch is.” During last year’s election campaign, the Trump campaign and Republicans sought to paint Democrats as out-of-touch and beholden to a radical activist wing. ‘Word salad’ Ms Harris was frequently mocked for her “word salad” responses to interview questions. One New York Times commentator complained she relied heavily on “jargon” and “rehearsed turns of phrase” while she “winds her way slowly toward an answer”. In a town hall event a fortnight before election day, Ms Harris appeared to address the issue, conceding she struggled to answer questions, was “kind of a nerd”, and was not always “quick on her feet”. Several commentators said her lack of clarity meant she ended up on the wrong side of the culture war. One of Mr Trump’s most effective attack adverts ended with the tagline: “Kamala is for they/them; President Trump is for you.” In an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Monday, Rahm Emanuel, the former Chicago mayor who is considered a potential contender for the Democratic nomination, urged his party to focus on issues like education over gender identity. “I’m empathetic and sympathetic to a child trying to figure out their pronoun, but it doesn’t trump the fact that the rest of the class doesn’t know what a pronoun is,” he said. 21. Doctor Who S2, E7: Wish World Review Doctor Who S2, E7: Wish World Review Major spoilers ahead! The penultimate episode of this season of Doctor Who is finally upon us. It’s been a fairly strong season so far, with only a slight wobble with episode four, but this episode and the next is where it all matters. Last season was criticized for a weak finale. The Disney+ era was touted as an era that would steer clear of relying on the show’s long history to be friendly to newcomers to the franchise but ended with the return of an obscure villain who made a single appearance in the show in the 1970’s, that all but the most hardcore Doctor Who fans would have a difficult time recognizing. Following last week’s reveal of The Rani, a popular villain from the 80’s era of the show who only appeared in two episodes, this week’s episode doubles down on this decision with a potentially ******* reveal. ORWELLIAN DREAM From the start of the episode, we are dropped into the middle of Wish World. We find the Doctor, as John Smith, and Belinda married with a child and with no recollection of their travels among the stars. There is something off about the world. There is an unnatural uniformity, with doubts causing mugs to “slip” through tables and break – something considered a common occurrence, yet stronger doubts result in late night calls to the police. The world is evocative of George Orwell’s 1984. The different and disabled, like previous companion Ruby Sunday and UNIT Scientific Advisor Shirley Bingham, go unnoticed by the world’s inhabitants, their non-conformity allowing them to find relics that have slipped through from the real world. It’s an interesting premise and set up for a world, setting up Ruby and Shirley leading the charge to find the Doctor, return his memory and bring down the regime of Conrad, returning villain from episode four, who serves as Prophet and God in this world, while The Rani runs things in the background. Winne (Sam Lawton) Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) Shirley (Ruth Madeley) Samuel Dore/BBC Studios/Disney/Bad Wolf The problem though is that this concept isn’t really explored more than on a surface level and is likely to be scrapped entirely in next week’s episode anyway. It’s a shell to force The Doctor into a position of weakness and set up for the final few minutes of the episode where plans are revealed and the proverbial ********** hits the fan in time for a bombastic final episode. It’s a growing **** peeve of mine, that either seasons of shows, or in this case the first of a two-part episode, are written in a way to be purely set up for what is to come next. Previous seasons of Doctor Who have handled this much better, with the first episode of a two- or three-part episode holding up on its own as an episode with a twist or dramatic moment serving as an enticing cliffhanger for the next episode. Wish World is not an episode that holds up by itself, and I don’t think it even does that much of a good job concealing the fact that it is purely set up for the next episode, with all roads leading to the last 5-10 minutes of the episode. It’s disappointing that much of the episode amounts to nothing by the end of it, you could remove the last 10 minutes of the episode where everything is revealed it would likely make just as much sense without the added context of the previous 30 minutes. Here though, the stakes ramp up significantly as the Doctor and The Rani finally come face to face. The scenery is thoroughly chewed in this episode, but it’s hard to deny the electrifying presence Archie Punjabi has when on screen. The trio of the current Rani, Mrs. Flood Rani and Conrad works really well. I certainly enjoyed Conrad much more in his appearance here than I did during his introduction in Lucky Day, and Mrs. Flood’s enjoyable comic relief provides some needed balance for the group. Perhaps next week will see some of these elements return, retroactively providing some additional context and making this set up a little more worthwhile. However, with how the episode ended and with the “Next time on…” that was uploaded to the Doctor Who YouTube channel, I think this is unlikely. The Rani (Archie Panjabi) James Pardon/BBC Studios/Disney/Bad Wolf NOT QUITE LAST OF THE TIME LORDS So, last week saw the return of two characters from the shows history that long-time fans of the show have been eager to see return. The Rani, who served as the main antagonist for this week’s episode, and The Doctor’s granddaughter Susan. We only saw a single glimpse of Susan this week, instead being teased of the return of another fan favorite villain. Omega. With The Rani intending to use the God of Wishes to break Omega free from the Underverse, the show has once again fallen back on nostalgia from the Classic era of the show, despite the intention the ensure the current run is as accessible to new fan as possible. Omega, is at least a returning villain that is more widely known, having appeared twice previously in the classic era of the show, and having been mentioned a number of times during the modern era of the show. First appearing for the iconic first episode of the shows 10th season, The Three Doctors, Omega was a villain that required the combined efforts of three Doctors. Personally, I love that Omega could return, however, it is a return that I worry is difficult to get right in the context of the episode. If The Rani succeeds and Omega does return, then it threatens to overshadow The Rani and her return. If Omega doesn’t return, then the tease feels like a waste of the character, only there to entice fans and hype the finale. We’ll have to wait for next week’s finale to know for certain, but for now, it does leave The Rani somewhat overshadowed playing the lackey of a greater villain, rather than standing out on her own in an episode that up to that moment, she was stealing with her charming performance. Omega is a huge villain for the show bring back. Omega, Rassilon – who has appeared many times in the show – and a figure known as The Other who in Doctor Who’s nebulous expanded media, which is generally all considered canon, is frequently portrayed as various incarnations of The Doctor, is one of the founding members of Time Lord society. It’s a little disappointing though, that a villain of such stature would only be teased in the final moments of an episode, with the potential to not even properly return. It feels like a missed opportunity to have not had Omega’s return more heavily teased throughout the seasons, much like The Rani’s was teased through the various cameos of Mrs. Flood. Sure, the various dealings The Doctor has had with the pantheon of Gods have teased the return of a member known as The One Who Waits, but there was little to suggest this was Omega, and the mentions were infrequent enough that there is only a brief mention that he is The One Who Waits right before the reveal of Omega, and it relies on the surprise of the reveal rather than there being any kind of buildup and emotional resonance beyond nostalgia. Colonel Ibrahim (Alexander Devrient) Kate Lethbridge Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) Susan Triad (Susan Twist) James Pardon/BBC Studios/Disney/Bad Wolf END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT As the episode ends with The Doctors doubt overwhelming Wish World and breaking reality apart to reveal the Underverse beneath it, I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed with how the episode turned out. As I sit writing this review, with Omega’s last appearance in the Fifth Doctor episode Arc of Infinity playing on the TV, I am excited for what next week’s episode The Reality War has to offer. Wish World though is probably the weakest episode of the season so far. At its core is an interesting premise for an episode with which basically nothing is done, instead the premise is used only as window dressing. It sets up a world in which The Doctor is powerless to make the final reveal feel more threatening, but at the expense of the rest of the episode. As an episode, Wish World would have benefited from a reduction of stakes in its final moments, it set up a fantastic premise of The Doctor’s allies seeking him out and a way to revert the world back to what it was. The stakes are smaller, but more personal and interesting but instead Russell T Davies chose to throw it all away at the last minute in favor of a threat to reality itself – something we’ve already seen from Davies in Series 4’s finale. As a penultimate episode for the show, and as an episode in its own right, Wish World fails to meet the quality of the rest of the season. It’s pure set up for next week, with some interesting premises, good writing and performances and a nostalgia fueled reveal at the end, but ultimately, it’s lack of substance and refusal to follow through on its own ideas thoroughly holds it back. After clinching the opening set via a tie-break, Fearnley broke early in the second and raced out to a 4-1 lead before serving the set out to love. Wawrinka, who knocked Andy Murray out in the first round last year, dropped serve immediately in the third set but fought back to move level at 2-2 – much to the delight of the crowd on court 14.
